Chris' haircuts are impressive, but even more impressive is his commitment and dedication to his buddies and the community. He's not just there to do business and call it a day. When my friend recommended this Veteran owned business, I was all to happy to give it a try. I've now found a barber for life - and it's nearly a 50 mile round trip for me. I cannot recommend Chris and Blades and Prohibition Barbers strongly enough! Top notch cuts provided by well over top notch people!!!

Our family's favorite! We are so fortunate to have Chris and team in Stillwater. All three of our sons and now my husband love "hair cut day" (in fairness, the shop dogs might be a big part of that draw for my 10 year old. ;)) But we love the atmosphere, always feel welcomed by Chris and Blades, and the cuts are always spot-on for each person's preferences. While I've never received a cut here personally, I cannot recommend Prohibition Barbers enough. The individuals inside these walls are incredible. Chris & Co not only make sure you have an amazing experience, they also care a great deal about the community. Yes, you can go here and get a great cut (I love the cut Chris gives my boyfriend), but you can also get so much more. I would implore you to step inside these walls to see just how incredible it is. Chris is a really fantastic barber and he was able to get me the beard shape and haircut that I actually was going after. The only barbershop I will go to. Chris and Al are not only the best barbers around, but they are also extraordinarily charitable. These guys give an outrageous amount back to the local community as well as the veteran community. Going to the shop is something I look forward to every month. Prohibition has been my go to barbershop since Chris was In Minneapolis. I moved away from Minnesota in 2018, but everytime I go back, I make it a point to get a hair cut at Prohibition. Great barbers, great shop, and fair prices. As a bonus, the shop does great things for the local community and veterans. I cannot say enough good things about Prohibition. 10/10

Walk in to be greeted by the best doggos around. The amazing atmosphere that Chris has created is amazing and you definitely want to show up early to take it all in. He has Harry Potter and Lord of the rings playing in the bathroom. Chris himself is a wonderful guy. Treats you with kindness and has an infections smile. You can't help but join in on it. He is so talented. I can not say enough good things about his shop and him so you are just going to have to get an appointment for yourself. Best barber you could ever have. Went for the first time to see Chris after reading so many great reviews for Prohibition Barbers. Was an amazing experience. The shop is stylish and unique just like the barbers. They have two friendly dogs to greet you and are happy to be pet. Chris took his time to give an excellent haircut and beard trim and gave very good advice for caring for my beard. Excellent experience. Loved the banter between all the people that came and went. Friendly environment that I look forward to becoming a regular at.

Chris the owner is a great barber and conversationalist! He'll often have clients arriving early and staying late to keep their conversations going. It is reminiscent of an old time barbershop. Chris also has two beautiful dogs that will gladly keep you company until your appointment time is reached.

The best, my husband and i have been seeing Chris since he was in a delightfully creepy basement in Minneapolis then at the rad space in Northeast but best of all now at the shop in Stillwater. Best barber I've ever been to and as long as he's around I will never go anywhere else! Such a great guy that's very active for good causes and so enjoyable to sit and talk to while I get a cut. Also so knowledgeable when it comes to hair and beards I went to him the first time wanting a totally new look for my hair and to try to start growing a beard and let him have free reign. My wife and I both loved my new look so much that I haven't wanted to change it since I first found him a couple years ago! Prices are so perfect I almost feel bad not giving him a large tip when it's pretty much the same price as going to sports clips but you actually get a personable guy that knows what he's doing and has done it for years since he started while he was in the military. He had to move locations due to financial problems that came about during the covid madness and I would still much rather drive the 35-40 mins to see him rather than try to find somewhere I liked as much (and probably fail). I hope this man never moves out of state or I just might have to also lol. If you are looking for a great barber look no further you've found him! And the cherry on top is I know I'm supporting a small business owner that runs it all by himself rather than some big franchise/chain. Only down side is he's so popular you have to schedule a ways out but I can hardly consider that a down side, I just schedule my next cut same day as my previous (but I also go once a month so scheduling about a month to month and half ahead). That should just be testament to exactly how great he is. Get your cut scheduled and meet your new barber for life!!!

Chris does a fantastic job with every-other-week haircut, and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else in Minneapolis. Though you can get a great haircut from a lot of folks, here are ways Chris sets his business apart. 1) You make appointments. No walk-ins, but no waiting in line for an hour either. 2) Price. While I loved my barber in San Francisco, I paid $35 for a good cut. Chris is significantly cheaper, but throws in a hot lather shave of your neck and occasionally a beer as well. 3) Chris gives back. A few weeks ago, I came in and he told me he was giving half the proceeds from the week to the Pulse Orlando victims fund. He also supports veterans, and veterans' suicide awareness. I want to support that. 4) Bertha, his huge, friendly, giant puppy of a pit bull, is a highlight to my day. You won't regret making an appointment with Chris!

Clearly there's a reason - He's good at what he does, and he's good people to boot. Every time I visit, I leave feeling better (physically and mentally) than I did when I went in. Christopher gives one of the tightest, best cuts I have ever had. Since moving back here from Los Angeles, I have hopped from barber to barber trying to find the "right" one. It’s rare that I write reviews but for small businesses I think it’s important so here goes. I came in to Prohibition Barber for a cut with Tim after having had a couple of mediocre and inconsistent experiences with students at Aveda. After a little research I booked a cut at Prohibition based off the solid reviews I saw online. The shop gets booked out pretty far in advance so plan accordingly. Not only did I get a great haircut, but the whole experience was top notch. The space is eclectic, unpretentious, and welcoming. Chris and Tim create a great a atmosphere with fun and real conversation. Not to mention, it only cost $8 more than with a student still learning their craft at Aveda. Tim gave me a great haircut and offered some styling tips that were appreciated too. If you’re looking for a cookie cutter experience it’s probably best to look elsewhere. If you want a great haircut and an authentic experience you won’t find elsewhere, check out Prohibition.

Christopher is nothing short of amazing and is hands down the best barber in town, no matter what the supreme spoiled brat Derek Haubenschild says in his review. Chris is busy because he's the best barber in the Twin Cities. This isn't Sport Clips, folks. It's a high end barber shop that is actually very affordable and Chris treats his fellow veterans very well (not a veteran myself but I respect how he helps out his brothers and sisters). Want a good solid cut and a tight shave? This is the place to go. You'll also get a great conversation with an awesome dude who also happens to have a wicked awesome dog named Bertha Mae. Sometimes she dresses up like a babushka and it's adorable. Chris also takes a lot of his time and proceeds and puts them towards noble causes such as preventing veteran suicides and other charity events. I like that every time I come in, he remembers everything about me and we have hilarious conversations. That's a true barber! So if you don't mind a short wait, go ahead and give this guy a call or schedule an appt online. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Moving from Boston, one of my biggest fears was finding a place I can get my hair cut after going to the same old school barber for the last 10 years. I tried various places in the Twin Cities, chains, small shops, trendy places, and none did justice to my hair. Most were afraid to touch my head with a straight razor, or not fade into the long hair on the top. I stumbled upon Chris as I was ready to give up, and I hit the jackpot. Old school style, warm environment, and most importantly, a phenomenal haircut. Chris listens, and gives advice on what we should try with my hair, always great conversations, and clearly a man with strong values and a warm heart, and again, AWESOME HAIRCUTS. It is comforting knowing I no longer have to worry about my hair (provided I book my appointment well in advance). And the beard oils smell fantastic and work great for beards and hair.

Best haircut I’ve had since I’ve lived in Minnesota!! I’ve been living in Minnesota for the past 7 years and I have not gone to the same barber more than twice. That’s because the first time is bad and I give them a second chance; maybe with a different person the second time. I decided to give this place a try after finding that there are only 5 star ratings and looking through some of the photos. I’ve gone to other places with 4.6+ google ratings and they are bad, but the ratings here are on point. If I wasn’t moving out of state, this place would be the last barbershop I’d ever go to. Not only was the haircut really good, but the barber’s knowledge/skills is also what I appreciated. Most places ask you what size clippers you would like, how many inches you want off, etc, etc. Of course you want to tell the person who is cutting your hair how you want it cut, but I believe a good barber should make those decision after knowing what type of hair you have, what would look good with the type of head/face you have and even maybe the line of work you’re in. I told Chris the type of haircut I wanted and I let him do what looked right for me. It came out perfect. I don’t like going into places and having to tell them do this and that because what’s the point then. I can just do it myself at home or become a barber myself. I drove across town to go here from work and back to work. I was a little concerned because I wasn’t sure if they shampoo you or not after the cut; as I didn’t see this service stated online. It didn’t matter. Although, they don’t shampoo you, it’s not needed. I leave places that do shampoo you with hair on your face, neck, and clothes. I did not leave this place like so and I was able to go back to work without going home to take a quick shower. Trust in the reviews at this place. Since they provide stellar service, Chris is booked up for the rest of the month. Book now for next month. It’s worth the wait

May 13, 2016. Friday the 13th My Lucky day. I have always wanted a full service Barber to cut my hair, shave my neck and shave my face. Growing up I used to watch in awe as these craftsmen worked my dad, grandpa and neighbors and said to myself Someday. Today I had a long awaited thrill Christopher worked his magic. Hair cut, neck shave, goatee trim but most of all the shave. Hot oils massaged to the face, then steaming hot towels applied, then more oils and a facial massage, the hot lather and the razor shave. Trusting my friends and fellow medics I departed on my quest to this bastion of courageous hairstyles and sculpted beards. I arrived to the humble unmarked yet dominant gate of this fortress called Prohibition Barbers, and opened the door making my presence known with the barbaric helm of hair that rested upon thy head. I was greeted by the protectors of this sanctuary, two graceful pitbulls whose existence made one feel safe if the sky split open. A fellow adventurer who made his journey before me was ending his blessing given by one of the mythical barbers I've only heard tales of. I introduced myself to this captivating barber Steven, his confidence and openness made me feel comfortable after my grueling crucible through the gates of Interstate 394. I was offered one of the finest meads sent from the heavens as I anxiously waited, Coors Light. As the adventurer who was being blessed prior to my arrival left to bring home stories of his journey I noticed something; he wasn't the man I saw when I first entered but a valiant knight with an angelic aura surrounding his hair. I was welcomed to sit onto what felt like a throne, confidence began surging through my veins as I began to experience a feeling one would only have before baptism as I prepare to cleanse myself from my most gregarious sin of a haircut. I orated my burden to this master of keratin, begging for forgiveness of such atrocious style. I was comforted by his dauntless posture while he firmly held his trimmers as a gladiator would hold his gladius in the arena of the Colosseum. The movements from his hands were effortless, his plan tactical, his trimming surgical. It was as if I were to become Michelangelo's greatest work. My head was a canvas and my barber was Monet. His masterpiece was nearly finished but with all great artists, they comb through the artwork for any hint of imperfection. Symmetry is one of the pillars of barbermanism. Any deformity of his monument is quickly erased by the smooth stroke of a straight razor.
