I booked this service due to my normal hair stylist being completely booked and unavailable. I had a photoshoot coming up on Sunday and I wanted to have a few days in-between to allow the fresh cut to fill in. I read the reviews and checked with other spots that were available, but I hoped this would have been the best choice to go with. Let me start by saying that the service at this location is great. Every one is friendly and the atmosphere is very clean and organised and welcoming. Although this makes every experience better we all come for exceptional service. Throughout the cut that took maybe 30 min everything looked and felt good. Once my style was completed I got to go change out of the style robe given and into my dress shirt and got a better look in the mirror. When I ran my fingers through my beard I noticed a patch of really long hair. I didn't check the length on my head due to it being styled and some hairspray used. I thought that the patch I found would be the only spot and approached my stylist and pointed out the long hairs. He kindly apologised and got his scissors and trimmed the long hairs off and that was that. Another client was in the chair and receiving their service so he couldn't get me back in the chair to really check it out. When I arrived home I really noticed the inconsistency of my cut and my Fiancé did too. When asked where I went and why I went there and why I didn't go to my usual place after explaining this she got the whole picture of what had happened. As she ran her fingers through my hair and beard she started to point out long hairs left uncut or inconsistently cut, they should have been trimmed down to the length of the rest of the cut for that area. I did explain to her that they cut the length of my hair with scissor and by hand and on the sides where the fade was they did use a trimmer that came out really nice. I also mentioned I paid $51 for the hairstyle and $35 for the beard trim. Which now looking back, I did not receive the value for this service. If I had to choose the payment for service I'd say I maybe got $10 worth of my cut. I also left a $10 tip as well I usually tip $20. I expected better service and a much more professional cut that I should have received. This was my first time visiting Steel Blade and definitely my last visit to Steel Blade Mens Salon. I've experienced this before at other locations and have found that the second time around doesn't really change things. This is definitely a Salon so be aware of the style you might be looking for if you are used to a more traditional cut. As I mentioned earlier the location was very friendly which I really appreciate. I did have some minor issues with scheduling on their website that was not completely clear to navigate but found out later that the reason I was not able to look for the service is because they were booked and didn't have the service available at the time. I came in a little blind and unaware of the cost for the service, which I would have been completely fine with if the service matched the cost. I have been to higher end stylists and salons many times who really make an impression on your appearance and use some featured products on your hair and beard to complete the process. I am not upset or bitter towards this place but it will be my last visit for sure. I have had better service at a Barber shop with a much better outcome for a quarter of the cost. I will give the place two starts for quality and the third start for customer service. When I pointed out the inconsistency of the cut, Other locations have sat me down and double checked their work and corrected it before I walked out the door. I was trimmed with a pair of scissors and set on my way with a crooked beard, long inconsistent hairs on top sides and on top back of my head. The cost of service did not meet the quality given. I didn't get photos of the top of my head before I had cut some of the long noticable hairs. When I have it styled it looked ok but throughout the day those long hairs really became noticeable.

She gave him a real barber experience!! There was a steamed towel at the end after he got his hair washed . It is definitely worth the price & it was good to see my little brother relax. Marcos is the go-to barber for your haircut! I never had a hairstyle that I liked and he found me one after two visits with him. Overall it was a great experience. Very focused on the customer experience, and the atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. The one thing I would like to see improvement on was the nose wax. I checked my nose in the car and I still saw a lot of hairs, so another round of wax was necessary. That is my only piece of feedback that needs improvement. I will still return to do more business with this establishment. I also appreciated the accessibility of the owner, and her pleasant personality.

Shane was awesome, came in not knowing what i wanted with my locks, and he styled them amazing. Excellent conversationalist too, felt like the time went by really fast with him. Yes the cuts are pricey, but they are well worth it. Would recommend 5/5. Now their facilities are absolutely amazing too. Bear with me here when I say I don’t know much about interior design, but everything was pleasing to the eye, also the fact that you could change into a gown so you could walk away with a hair free shirt was a big plus for me. This was my first time at Steel Blade Men’s Salon and when walking in i was immediately greeted by a fiery and bubbly red head. She was very welcoming and that in itself was pleasant from other places. Shane was my barber and he greeted me instantly. He waxed my eyebrows first. And although a few spots were missed it overall looked amazing. And with the haircut. He listened to exactly what I wanted. I am always nervous to get my hair cut by someone new. But I already rescheduled my appointment with Shane. Overall amazing service, especially when you get the hot towel afterward, that was just a relaxing moment that was needed and appreciated. Even when getting checked out they were friendly and talkative. No products were pushed on me, but I did end up buying a pomade just because of how the product felt and dealt with my hair. It was just an overall great experience. It’s only been two hours since my appointment. And I’ve already made several referrals to all my friends.

My brother told me bout this place a long while ago when it was 18|8, now Steel Blade, and I haven't gone anywhere else and I live in Rio Rancho. Definitely worth the drive. Great experience coupled with excellent customer service! They have refreshments in their waiting room so you can relax before relaxing even more with a hot, or cold, towel! Each of the stylists has their own somewhat private and section so you're not staring at random people. It's quite nice. To top it all off their staff is very friendly and professional making me feel right at home. My hair has never looked better in my life! 11/10 would recommend!

I came here for my first short haircut in several years. I made an appointment and waited maybe 5 minutes after checking in. Everyone made me feel very welcome and I received a fantastic cut from Scott. Even though I was the last customer for the day, they pulled out all the stops and didn’t rush me through at all. They were also very considerate of customers wishing to keep masks on, and all of the staff wore them too. This place is on the pricey side but the service you receive is worth every penny. I’ll be returning and I’d recommend you give them a try!

Finally! A place that cuts my hair the way I ask for it. My hairstyle went out of style about 20 years ago, but all I had to do was show Elysa a picture of how I wanted it and she made it happen. Everyone was very polite, I hardly had to wait(I did make an appointment) and the prices are more than a barber shop, but they gave me the whole salon treatment and you get what you pay for. I've never had a preference for a specific barber, so each time I book I just take whoever they give me. In all the times I've been here I've never had a bad experience. It was the first place where after I told them what I was thinking, they gave great advice on hairstyles based on face shape and your personal style. Everyone has been amazing, and they all are great at cutting and styling your hair. The atmosphere is good, the treatment is amazing, really my only issue would be price. It's costly, but worth it.

Every time I have been there for a haircut, I always left the salon feeling good about the cut. My only complaint is a gift card I received when 18 8 was still the active franchise owner. I tried to use the card after 18 8 declared bankruptcy, and unknown to me that 18 8 did this, but it was deemed worthless. I think out of good will, Stacy should of honored it anyway which she did not. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.

I have been a client of Wayne for about a year now. Wayne is extremely talented and is a great conversationalist. He is very friendly and is very knowledgeable. I chose him after reading his great reviews and I have to admit that I am very happy I took that decision. Besides regular haircuts, Wayne can also guide you about other concerns and problems that you may be having. Scheduling can be done online and that’s the best way as same day appointments are tough to get with Wayne as he is very popular and busy. Needless to say, this place is one of the best in Albuquerque. The remaining staff members are also very cordial and friendly although I have only availed the services from Wayne. But I am sure even the other staff members will be equally competent. Overall a great experience and totally worth it !

There's a reason I come back to Steel Blade.T stylists are always courteous and professional, but in a very laid back kinda way. From what I've seen, all the stylists do a great job, but I always go back to Stacey because she remembers the small things and makes the experience feel more relaxed. The environment is extremely inviting and the services provided are second to none. I've spent years bouncing between the cheap haircut places because I'm a guy and don't need the extra frills. But after one visit to Steel Blade, I realized that I could still enjoy a salon quality experience while maintaining my masculinity. Hats off to Steel Blade and all their stylists, the job they do is world class.

Fantastic place on every level, with high quality cuts plus great advice, comfy atmosphere, and friendly/personable staff. Worth every penny. Wayne is especially good: I've been a client of his for 3 years, and can't say enough about his skill/professionalism/friendliness. What's more, he's very knowledgeable and will guide you to the exact cut and care/product regimen you need. Just tell him what you want and he'll make it happen! Walk ins are welcome but the 18/8 appointment system and considerably more hours than other local barbers is very convenient, but be warned: Wayne is very popular and next to impossible to get on a walk-in, and with good reason. The rest of the staff is also great though, so I doubt you can go wrong even if you can't get Wayne

OMG! They were amazing! I was driving cross country. They took me in as a walk in (during COVID). My son waited-they offered him a beverage. My stylist was so friendly. Gave me a great cut. I ended up purchasing the products she used to style my hair because it look better than ever. I have been going to 18 8 for a few years now. Good barbers are hard to come by in Albuquerque. All the stylists are good there. I tried most of them but Wayne has been my main stylist for a while. He cut my hair and my groomsmen hair before my wedding. You can set up events for your guys and they go all out. I will not go anywhere else. They always get me in and do an amazing job. Trust me. My mom was a career stylist. She never liked my cuts till I started having Wayne cut it. Hands down the best.

I suggest trying out a few of the stylists until you find the right fit, both from a style and conversation perspective. I've enjoyed almost every experience, but I do play favorites when my schedule is open enough to see the senior stylist I prefer. The membership is a great value, especially if you take advantage of the free cleanups to help your haircut "last longer".

This was on top of a first-rate cut with professionalism and attention to detail. I will definitely be back when I'm in town. The cashier was very courteous and friendly and the cookies and drinks in the (small) waiting room and smocks to go over your clothes beneath the cape was a nice touch, too. My only quibble, like another reviewer, is the R&B music...Not my first choice for a fine men's establishment, as a piano bar, crooners, or even classic rock station would fit the atmosphere much better.

I go to this business for my haircut because of Wayne. His haircuts are as good everytime as I have ever experienced. There are a few different things I like done with the cut and he never forgets. This is not a buzz-snip-10-minutes-and-your-done place. It is pricey for an Albuquerque haircut. But Wayne's skill with clippers and sizzors is worth it to me.

Like the stylists, disappointed in how the place is run. Had an appointment that was confirmed via email. When I got there the lady at the front desk said my appointment was not valid because they are no longer 18|8. She said you have to go to their new website to book, but then gave me the wrong site. No offer to rebook me or anything. If it helps someone else, they are now Steel Blade Men's Salon. I was there last month and no one mentioned the change or the new site to book. As of today, all their signs are still 18|8, their google results still link to the 18|8 website for products and services, and the 18|8 website still allows you to make reservations for this location. I will probably return because I like the stylist there, but the admin side has not been very good for my last 3 visits.

Got my head shaved here. Head massage, hot towels, tonic, lotion; the works. It's never this good when I do it myself. Haha. My stylist, Wade, was awesome. The R&B music can go, in my opinion, but you've got to have nondescript music for a crowd, so I get it. Could throw in some classic rock; that's pretty unassuming. But I digress. Moral of the story: very nice place.

I've had nothing but good experiences here. Both Emily and Victor have done a great job. i've had the executive cut with includes haircut shampoo, head massage, and hot towel, so the $30 is well worth it for all that. Taking your shirt off and putting the robe on is beneficial, if you are wearing a collard shirt it doesn't get in the way, and even with a t-shirt you won't get your shirt wet by accident while washing your hair. It's hard to find a full service mens cut for $25-$30 so this is a great deal.

First, let me start off by saying that I either the classic barber shop type or the high end male salon type. This shop is neither. They asked me to take off my shirt and use their blouse during my haircut (weird). I had to sit and watch CNN on the TV. Not that this is the end of the world, but I like to have something a little more interesting and light hearted to watch before a haircut. My stylist was ok and he missed a patch of hair on my neck. I am not sure that the stylists are worth their rates - upper twenties and lower thirties. There was little attention to detail. My haircut was ok, and I have had much better at other places at this price point. I am trying Ace barber next.

Phenomenal scenery, the atmosphere was also very well kept. You have a wide array of things to look as soon as you walk in and are immediately greeted at the door. If you are a first comer they guide you to the waiting room where you will find refreshments, snacks, and books. Your stylist/ barber then greets you and makes your whole experience feel welcoming. Not only the best hair cut I have received, but also look forward to my next visit with Shane.
