Do yourself a favor and stop by Bread and Buttercream for your bread and cake needs. This lemon sponge cake with buttercream icing for my daughters baptism party was a hit! It was very yummy. While we were there to pick it up, we grabbed a loaf of sourdough bread. We used it for sandwiches and with soup. Excellent! Good local business to support!

Some friends came over for dinner and brought with them a loaf of Italian Bread. WOW! The dinner was terrific but the Bread was to die for! It was the best bread that I think that I have ever had. The crust was perfect and it appeared to be hand made. They told me that they had purchased it at the Bread & Buttercream Bakery on Marsh Road. I had never heard of this bakery, but I knew the area. We finished the loaf in the next two days and as soon as I could I went there and purchased another. They have an incredible selection of baked goods. They only make Bagels on Thursdays, Challah and Brioche rolls on Fridays. What a great place and I recommend the Italian bread highly. Light toas and marmalade, yummm.

When I say this is the BEST bakery I have ever been too, I mean it!! The couple that owns this bakery is the hardest working couple I have ever meant! I can definitely tell that they work tirelessly/around-the-clock to always have their fresh and delicious pastries, breads, and cakes available. Although everything they bake is out of this world, my top three recommendations are below: 1.) Their cinnamon buns which are magnificent are both gooey and crispy and simply melt in your mouth! (attached a picture below) 2.) Their torpedo (also called mini hoagie) rolls, especially when you get them just out of the oven. They are to die for! 3.) However, my favorite pastry of all is their napoleon, triangular, flakey, drizzled in sweet icing, and filled with a yummy yellow custard pastry. The owners actually came up with this pastry themselves and you must try it! There is nothing that beats it anywhere else! You have got to stop by this bakery and pick up some treats. Trust me, you will not regret it!

This is the best French bakery for miles and miles. You need to go to Philly or NYC and you still won’t get a Napoleon like this place. The cinnamon rolls are the butteryest and I cannot rant enough here. Discovered by accident and now drive 30 minutes when I need a fix. And Dunkin Donuts is across the street.

One of the best cinnamon buns I've ever tried (at it was one of the discounted day-olds!). Flakey and buttery. Also the chocolate hazelnut cake slice was delightful. It's got some kind of crunchies in one of the layers that have a great texture - maybe puffed rice? I also got a cherry-filled croissant which was very good. The filling was tart, not too sweet. Will definitely be back.

Always delicious and friendly service. Responds quickly to Facebook messaging, too. I had messaged them asking if they have two French baguettes which they quickly confirmed and held for me until I stopped in on my way home. Also, their cranberry flaxseed bread is fabulous! The baguette worked well for our homemade bahn mi sandwiches.

Ok let me first start off by saying I have literally found a hidden gem of a bakery and it's right by my house. Excited is an understatement. I walked in today to see if they had any premade cakes. I should've known to just order one but I did get to buy some cupcakes and this is literally thee BEST tasting cake and icing I've ever had. The cake was so moist, and the icing was not too sweet and literally the perfect amount of richness. I will most definitely be ordering a cake from them without a doubt and I suggest you do the same👍🏻❤️ Update: My kids just had a cupcake each and both of them also said this is the best cake they've ever tasted. Kudos to the baker's that work hard for your customer's. You definitely have a permanent customer in me.

I love this adorable little bakery. They certainly do a lot from croissants, cookies, cakes, macaroons, and bread to tomato pie! Everything I’ve had from here has been delicious- I especially love their tomato pie and macaroons! Recently, I ordered a cake and the carrot cake with the cream cheese buttercream was so amazing I had to post this review. For me, a person who likes desserts with balance and that aren’t over the top sweet, I find their cake and icing to be perfect. Get a cake you won’t be disappointed!

On our drive up I-95 somehow the conversation turned to cinnamon rolls and we saw a road sign for a Dunkin’ Donuts and decided to stop. Fortunately, DD didn’t have any cinnamon rolls and I did not want donuts (‘greasy plunkers’) anyway so I looked up a nearby bakery and found Bread & Buttercream Bakery. This place is fantastic! Ahmad and Cate are the owners and are friendly and personable. They beam with justifiable pride for their fare. It is good this place is more than 100 miles away or I would be their best friend and weigh a gazillion pounds! We ended up with five different items (between just the two of us - brunch and a snack - lol) and they were all FANTASTIC. Unfortunately, we took a different route on the way home and couldn't stop by on the way but the next time I'm even near Wilmington I will make the stop - pilgrimage! haha! It is close to the freeway so it is an easy on and off to make the side trip worth it.

Love it here. The fresh bread is AMAZING and their desserts/baked goods are just elegantly delectable! Take my 3 kids in Al other time and their customer service is TOP notch!! Would recommend to anyone, they also do orders with a 48hr notice!

I can’t serve dinner without a loaf of bread from B&B. It’s lucky if a loaf makes it home. The aroma of quality fresh baked bread is irresistible. I buy a loaf for myself and freeze half. It’s great out of the freezer. I try to resist the treats but break down often and am never sorry

Great breads. I dont know about the sweets except the baklava. It was ok by Delaware standards. Pricy but quality, fresh bread is a treat for those that don't want supermarket breads. Extra points for sour dough. Friendly staff.

Delicious variety of baked goods! Friendly atmosphere! Loved the fresh cupcakes and cookies. Perfect taste and texture. I have always had a great experience here. The folks are incredibly friendly and it is a wonder I haven't left drool marks on their display case. Their breads make the whole work from home experience workable. Their cookies go really well with a cup of tea or coffee or as a friendly offering to introduce yourself to your neighbor and their treats are decadent and make for a wonderful way to cheat on your diet.

What a fantastic neighborhood bakery. Everything they have is top shelf. I was so happy to find such a quality bakery close to home. The owner is one of the nicest, hardworking guy you'll ever meet. Just got my first cake from there. Our office isn't too far from them and wanted to get a cake for our Office Manager that normally gets cakes for all our employees for birthdays and anniversaries with the company. Cake was BEAUTIFUL and TASTED OUTSTANDING. Many people said it was the best red velvet they ever had. Even the garnishes (which I did not request) gave the cake such flare. We all agreed that every cake the company orders from now on will come from Bread and Butter Cream!

I bought a few things here while visiting from out of town and everything was great. I'm always very hesitant to purchase macaroons when I'm out because they tend to be a bit costly and I worry about the freshness. Don't concern yourself with that here. I purchase macaroons and they were fantastic and worth every penny period as where the other things purchased this was a nice little Bakery to buy things that are legit pastry items that didn't get pumped out of some cheap-ass store bakery in a grocery. The staff was really friendly also and while the place was small it was cute inside.

I have been trying to find a good croissant since De La Coeur closed due to the pandemic and finally I found it! Literally just ate the croissant haha! Delicious buttery flakey croissant and tasty chocolate inside. Will definitely be back to this little bakery to try other items :)

Best Carrot Cake I have ever eaten! I am so happy I found this bakery! Ever since I moved to North Wilmington I have been looking for a place like this and VIOLA! I happened to drive by and took a chance, stopped in and ordered a carrot cake to bring to a family gathering for Thanksgiving! Everyone LOVED it! It melted in your mouth! I just went back and ordered one for Christmas and picked up a Chocolate Mousse Pastry that was Simply DEVINE! The owner is extremely talented! Thank you! **********

Hands down my favorite french bread and croissants. Nowhere else makes croissants like this, all flaky with a killer apple filling. The owner and staff are great too; they put aside some apple croissants special for me on Sunday when I showed up and they were out but getting ready to bake more; I went out, did some errands, and was able to bring my wife an offering of flaky goodness at the end. Love this place.

1st to be clear I had the highest expectations of this place based on reviews. Would've been a 4 star review if I just wondered in. I ordered a B-Day cake for my daughter & they werent sure at 1st if they could split a large cake (half chocolate half vanilla - after my wife called back they said they could. And did). The cake was a decent size but its half the cost at Wegmans for a similar size. We had it customized with a design and a Happy Bday message. Those were below expectations (writing was sloppy etc.. a few ppl mentioned maybe the cake was frozen and thawed which wouldn't help - they had a month to make it). Also the cake was a bit dry. The icing was delicious but for close to $90 I was expecting it to be the best cake I ever had. I also purchased peanut butter & chocolate chip cookies... PB was ok... CC was better. Ordered slices of their tomatoe pie type pizza and that was average as well.. a bit doughy. All this being said they were all nice.. although the girl up front seems a bit not knowing of what things are and what they can/cant do, very pleasant though. I would recommend and I'll prob. give them another try down the road! Thanks

This by far the most exquisite cake we've had! Our family celebrates each members birthday with their face choice of cake, many members and many cakes from many bakeries over the years! We now know we will only be using " Bread & Buttercream" exclusively!! Everyone of us was astounded by the look, flavors and components of this months cake. We chose the chocolate layered with raspberry opera cake, it surpassed our vision. Thank you great baker! For coming to Wilmington!!!

Oh. My. God. This is the only google review I have ever written. This bakery is hands down the best thing to happen in Delaware. If George Washington, whilst crossing the Delaware River, knew of its existence he would have changed course. He wouldn't need his wooden teeth, the baguettes literally melt in your mouth. To say everything is touched by God would be an understatement. The danishes. Oh, the danishes. The cheese danish could achieve world peace. Ironically, I'd kill for one. The cinnamon buns are a swirl of angelic taste merged with soft and buttery flakes, a union that people could protest for threatening the sanctity of marriage. The french bread could be used as a pillow. The macaroons should be on display at the Louvre. Put the Mona Lisa in storage. Everything is fresh. Most times, my orders are still warm. This is your diet cheat day adventureland. I have yet to try the cakes, but I cannot imagine anything from this place not utterly shattering my previous threshold for what I define as delicious. Oh behalf of everyone in north wilmington, thank you B&B for your service.

Imad takes the time to find out exactly what you want and makes sure you are happy when you pick it up. He greets everyone as they come in the door, making it a welcoming place to shop! It's my neighborhood bakery! It's so nice to have a local bakery that makes such delicious pastries, desserts tomato pie, cakes, cookies and more. Their ricotta cookies with lemon icing, macarons, almond croissants, chocolate croissants, baklava, sourdough, baguettes and mousse desserts are absolutely delicious. They also have tomatoe pie and have recently added excellent 6" meatball hoagies! The pastries, bread and other items are warm when they open at 10 AM. That being said, it's a small business and only has enough room inside for one customer at a time so there may be a line outside...trust me though, it's worth the wait!

OMG! This place is a hidden gem!!!! I work at a dentist down the street and stopped in to meet the neighbors, so to speak and take a look. First off they were so friendly and nice we chatted while I looked around and smelled the yummy fresh bread baking in the bake! I ended up getting bread, rolls, tomato pie and a chocolate cream pie (which I had to share when I got back to work LOL). Everything was DELICIOUS!! The bread was so fresh I wish I got more and the tomatoe pie was so good and the chocolate cream pie was great not overly sweet like most and the crust was so flakey & butter just so yummy! No doubt I will definitely, definitely go back and tell everyone to go also!

The quality of their product is outstanding and they are happy to provide and spend a moment to hear your ideas on what you might be interested in. Their breads and croissants are more than what you hoped for. If you haven't found them, you're cheating yourself .

4 1/2 stars. Would be 5 if they made a true French baguette. Only place I've been able to find one around here is at Parc in Philly. Their pastries and breads, especially their croissants and brioche are divine. Imad and Kelly are very friendly and passionate about what they're doing. It's a must. Lemon curd crooisant is out of this world. Like pretty much everything else. Bagels could use improvement, though. Hard crust is nice, but underneath that crust , chewy, dense and slightly salty dough is missing.
