Such and easy and smooth transaction to order and customize your cake online within 48h prior to pick up! Website can be a bit buggy sometimes but you can get it done and they take care of the rest! Beautiful big VEGAN chocolate cake for my son’s 1 year old birthday. Absolutely no one would’ve guessed it was vegan and the cake was the most rich, moist and not too sweet cake I had in a while, DELICIOUS. I also ordered a smash cake for my 1 year old and they did a beautiful job on that one as well. Highly recommend them and will most likely use them again!!

Came two days in a row on my DC trip. Cakes were dry both days. Don't waste your time on the cakes. The Lemon Bar was absolutely amazing, both days! The Lotus Cheesecake was also delicious, much better than the cakes. The cookies and Brookies were all delicious as well.

I regularly pop into The CakeRoom to get my sweet fix, and it's always been one of my favorite spots in DC. Friendly service, great variety of treats (from cakes to pies to cookies) in a super cozy atmosphere. This year we ordered my five year old son's birthday cake from The CakeRoom and they blew me away. Ordering online was simple. They have so many design options, I found a look that integrated with the theme ("winter wonderland"). The outcome was perfection. Not only did it look beautiful, it tasted delicious. We had a lot of happy kids AND adults. Thank you, CakeRoom.

Ordered my sister’s birthday cake here. It’s an 8” heart-shaped chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. An employee told me that this would feed about 10-15 people, and we had about 15 people at the party. Even with very generous slices, we still had quite a few pieces left over! It looked beautiful, and it tasted even better! Definitely worth the money as they delivered both quality AND quantity

I walked in while I was waiting for my friends in the area and left with a cafe au lait and a couple of cupcakes. I loved the coffee and could tell it was made with care. And the cupcakes were delicious! My favorite of the ones I tried was the lavender lemon cupcake, although the lavender flavor was a bit overshadowed by the lemon. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a coffee or some sweets.

I had a slice of Peanut butter chocolate cake. It had a great balance of both, the cake was moist and very enjoyable alongside the free coffee or tea that they have readily available. Pricing could be better but also understandable. We’re definitely coming back whenever we’re in the area to try out more from this store!

We got our wedding cake from The CakeRoom, my favorite bakery in DC. Not only does the shop smell like heaven on earth, but the cake was amazing. We wanted a simple, great-tasting cake and The CakeRoom delivered (literally, all the way to Olney MD which was fabulous). All our guests loved it, and I'm incredibly jealous because in all the craziness of the reception my husband and I only got the bites we fed each other at the cake cutting (which tasted great). I plan on going to the bakery sometime soon to get us each a big slice to enjoy!

We ordered a shark cake and a unicorn cake for our twin’s birthday party. I cried when I saw the unicorn cake! They were both very cute and tasted awesome albeit we all enjoyed the vanilla cake more than the chocolate. I would 100% recommend and order from them again.

My first time ordering from the Cake Room and I’m glad I did! I ordered the coconut cake and key lime coconut cupcakes for my husband’s birthday and he was very happy, all our guests loved the moist cake and cupcakes, which have a key lime filling I didn’t know about so it was a delicious surprise! My daughter also tasted a lavender lemon and a vanilla cupcake and she just loved both! This is definitely my go to bakery.

Very convenient location, when you want to drop in and pick something up fairly quickly. Purchased a half dozen cupcakes for my wife for her birthday. He absolutely LOVED them. The cake to frosting ratio is perfect, I'm going to go on the record and say that they are right up there with The Sweet Lobby as best cupcakes in the city. Do yourself a favor and bypass that Georgetown Cupcake hype, and take a bit that your taste buds will truly appreciate. If you find yourself on 18th in Adams Morgan, visit this local business. You won't be sorry.

The CakeRoom is a quaint bakery in uptown D.C. serving, you guessed it, cake, cupcakes, cookies and brownies as well as coffee, tea and lattes. The building is small but they offer indoor seating upstairs in a hip atmosphere playing trendy lofi music. The service was friendly and attentive and the cake was good but nothing to call home about. It's always nice to be able to support small businesses like this so if you're in need of a sweet, try The CakeRoom! My wife got the Cookie Butter Cake and I had the Nutella Cupcake. I honestly liked her slice of cake more than my cupcake haha the slices of cake are generous and are double layered. There is just the right amount of buttercream on their cakes and the cookie butter one has cookie butter drizzle and crumbs on the frosting. The cake is fine and wasn't amazing and I can see how people think it's dry and I would have liked it to be more moist but the eating it with the buttercream makes it perfectly fine. My cupcake was nice with a Nutella buttercream and chocolate drizzle on top with Nutella filled on the inside. There wasn't an excessive amount of frosting on the top which I appreciated and overall was good but not as good as the cookie butter one. We sat upstairs to have our desserts and I like the seating area but there were cake boxes everywhere. They seem to be using the dining area as storage for their inventory which was a bit tacky as I don't really care to look at all that but I take it they're struggling with storage space with how little space they already have. I'm not sure if we would come back here again but it was definitely a cute experience and a great place to come and have a sweet and coffee and do some work on your laptop. You must try the peanut butter cookie! Best cupcake in town! If you still go to Georgetown cupcake, you obviously don’t know what’s a good cupcake taste like. The pastry here is carefully crafted with tenderness and love. The owner is an immigrant who made his dream come true.

Decent place to go if you are in the area, the desserts are okay and I have been there a few times to grab a dessert or two when I'm in need of a fix for my sweet tooth so it is definitely not my top pick for desserts in DC as there are better places. The desserts here are really pretty but flavor wise they are just lacking . The customer service is also lacking. The server forgot items from my order and another time I was in line I was completely ignored and passed over for another customer.

Can’t rave enough about The Cakeroom! I first fell in love with their gluten free carrot cake, equally delicious in cupcake or cake form! The Cakeroom also made us the most beautiful, classic wedding cake -- gluten free carrot cake on top for me and their top notch chocolate cake on the bottom. The guests loved it! Most recently The Cakeroom made such a fun, crowd-pleasing Cookie Monster cake for my friend’s son’s second birthday! Everyone also loved the cookies paired with it. It’s all around a superb bake shop! And to top it off, I have had friendly and timely service any time I call to place my order.

Ordered the raspberry swirl cheesecake and I can say that this is easily the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Pistachio crust and the jam is such a brilliant decision! If you ever decide to come here please do yourself a favor and order this cake, you won’t regret it.

The carrot cake and carrot cake cupcakes are very good. The lemon lavender cupcake is dry and doesn't taste very good. The banana cupcake is okay, but the carrot cake is definitely better. I want to try the cookies next, especially the chocolate peanut butter. Of the vegan cupcakes, I like the chocolate peanut butter the best, but they don't seem to put as much time and thought and variety into the vegan cupcakes as the regular cupcakes. I like their coffee a lot, which is a dark roast. By the way, don't wait until Saturday night to go to this place because by then they're out of my stuff.

Came into DC for my partners birthday and wanted to get a cake to surprise her. I ordered online and within two hours the owner got back to me, he was very helpful in planning the cake out. I was a little worried about the price but it was well worth it. I got the cake and it was exactly what I asked for. It was worth the price because it was a lot of cake! I'll just go ahead and share the email I sent to the Cake Room's owner: Just called you guys on the phone to thank you for the incredible birthday cake you made for my wife's (Katie's) birthday. She was absolutely blown away and tearful (in a good way) about being surprised with this cake straight out of her childhood. It's clear you guys put a ton of extra effort and artistic skill into the color palette and the design. It was also straight up the most delicious birthday cake that my wife and I have ever eaten. Everyone loved it. Please give my thanks to the baker(s) who brought it to life and thanks again for the guy who I spoke to on the phone last week (and a few minutes ago) for taking the time to understand exactly what I was looking for.

Lovely bakery with great selection of cupcakes, cookies, and cakes, and few seats upstairs. Unlike other similar places in DC (and despite the fact that it is located in Adams Morgan), it is not impossible to find a seat inside if you wish to enjoy your treat on the spot. Their cupcakes are the best in DC, in my view.

This is just the top shelf of cakes and cupcakes and variety of cookies the Cake Room offers. I was having coffee on the upper level and looked down and felt like I was in heaven. Have tried cookies, cakes and cupcakes and all are baked fresh as you can tell with your first bite. Highly recommended. They have coffees as well. Employees are friendly and professional. This place is very inviting to everyone and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Been here a couple times in the past few weeks - to grab a German Chocolate cupcake, and for my own birthday cake. Both were delicious, I couldn't get enough compliments on the cake from friends. Pickup was easy as well. If you need dessert for one or for a group, the Cakeroom is the best place to go in DC.

I got the salted caramel and the lemon lavender cupcake, they both have the same vanilla base cake which is pretty good, not too sweet, and nothing really special but let's the frosting shine through. Both cupcake's frosting is really good, light and accurate to description, also not overbearingly sweet. Plus the prices are much better than sprinkles and Georgetown cupcakes. I'd like to try their cake next time.

I stayed just around the corner from this place for a month and and ate desserts from here more days than not. I love that all of their cakes are available by the slice. I enjoyed just about everything we tried here (and we tried just about everything!). I recommend the cheesecake slices, as they're tasty and a good value for the price. I particularly enjoyed the triple chocolate cheesecake and the raspberry swirl with pistachio crust. My spouse liked the plain cheesecakes with various chunky berry goops on top. The cupcakes were perfectly fine. I bought a few of them because my 2 year old is still learning that cheesecake is always better than cupcake. Always. It's a fact. Anyway, the service was consistently efficient and friendly and laid back, and the attire is casual.

Hubby and I came in and tried: Salted Caramel, Carrot Cake Slice, Vegan Raspberry Chocolate, and Vegan Oreo cupcakes. All of them were really good. Our favorites were the Oreo, Carrot Cake and Salted Caramel. Cute cozy place with great cakes.

I ordered a cake here for my boss’s birthday. It was extremely easy to order and customize how I wanted it to look. The delivery driver was so nice, communicative, and very helpful. The cake was absolutely delicious and went over great with my company. The 9 inch cake easily fed 20 people. Very flavorful and moist. Definitely will be ordering from them again for both my company and personal. Wish I would have gotten a picture of it but it was demolished very quickly!

I was lucky when Favi, the owner, answered the phone and made this somewhat complicated ask very simple. I ordered the hummingbird cake, because I know mi hijo would like it, and within a few hours, the cake was delivered and I got a very sweet text from mi hijo about how much he loved it! Favi also texted me a photo of the cake and it was exactly what I wanted! Thank you, The CakeRoom, for a really delicious cake, but also the amazing teamwork that you offered. A 100% online ordering experience with no possibility to speak to a human, which can be stressful. Order form forces a tip for the cake decorator. Really? The cake was good, but not extraordinary, which I'd expect for about $90 for a 9 inch cake. I'd come back as a walk-in customer for small desserts to try them. I'll pass on cake ordering in the future as the value isn't there.

We got cupcakes (carrot, lemon lavender, Oreo, salted caramel, red velvet and double chocolate) and a slice each of Oreo, strawberry and blueberry cheesecake, and I’m convinced there are baking fairies in the kitchen! We loved every flavor of cupcake and it’s impossible for me to choose a favorite flavor. The cupcakes are moist and flavorful. The icing was just the right amount of sweetness. I won’t be able to have cupcakes from any other place because theirs is that good. However, despite all my praises for the cupcakes, their Oreo cheesecake stole the show. Do yourself a favor and instead of getting just a slice, get a whole Oreo cheesecake. It is so rich and creamy, yet light and bright. You can taste the quality and expertise that went into it. I can’t do the Oreo cheesecake justice with mere words, maybe a sonnet or musical composition might do. The strawberry and blueberry cheesecakes were really yummy, too, but the Oreo cheesecake is on another level. We’re in tough times and if you’re looking for a little bit of Heaven to brighten your or somebody else’s day, go here.

We were planning on getting cupcakes from another place but saw via their website that the selection was poor that day. But it was my son’s birthday and we needed cupcakes pronto! I searched around and decided the Cakeroom was our best bet. My spouse had trouble finding parking but once he did there was no problem. He got a dozen of every cupcake and some cookies. Our son enjoyed the cupcakes and got a sugar high. The cakes are very moist, maybe a little too moist for the strawberry cake. The frosting was just right. I’d wished my husband got more Oreo cupcakes. Will try them again if ever in the area.

Great service I had the strawberry vanilla cake, my son had the Oreo cake. On another visit, I had a lavender cake. I'm never dissatisfied. Friendly service as well.. This is my go to spot in DC for sweets and has been for years. From silky soft cheesecake to beer-flavored cupcakes on St. Patty's Day, I've had it all (and have the extra pounds to show for it) at this cute grandma's house-style bakery in Adam's Morgan. Open until late (9 or 10pm usually), you can sit downstairs and watch the crowds go by, or cuddle upstairs on the couch with a book. There's free WiFi, cute wallpaper, and mouth-watering treats. What better break could you ask for in today's rat race?

This place is awesome - easily the best cake shop in DC. I've had two celebration cakes and a good half dozen cupcakes over the last year and they've all been wonderful. I'm kind of starting to drool just thinking about their Black Forest cupcake. On top of tasty good, the staff and the owner were polite, professional, and efficient, even during the post dinner rush. I'll be back on my next cheat day - totally worth it!

Not a one knew it was vegan until I told them. It goes to show you how good they did with the cake. I ordered the larger cake which turned out to be too much, but I get to eat the leftovers so I guess it's a win for me.

Ordered a lemon lavender cake for our wedding anniversary. The cake was little bit dense but it was still delicious. You could really taste the lavender and the icing wasn’t too sweet, it was just so perfect. Besides the taste what I like about this place is that you can customize for a reasonable price. Unlike other “boutique”ish shops you only need to let them know two days in advance, other places require 5 or 7 days in advance. I ordered 9” cake for 13 people and plenty leftover for the next few days. We also picked up strawberry, lemon, and chocolate cupcakes. Everything was delicious!!

The carrot cake and vanilla cupcakes are delicious but sadly I've only had them once. They list themselves as closed on uber eats even though their listed as open on google. 2 out of 3 delivery orders are canceled no matter what delivery time I select. During Covid times, delivery is a must. They'd get 5 stars if the deserts could actually be ordered and delivered consistently.

I went here for a sweet treat after dinner. I asked what a first timer would get and i said i liked vanilla. Ended up asking about the lavender lemon cupcake and was told it was a best seller. It was delicious! A long line formed after i took my cupcake. They put the cupcake in a large plastic container which i wish was paper or something better for the environment. I may go back to try a cake slice. Kinda pricy but its a treat not a constant.

I was lucky because I happened to be there when their freshly baked cupcakes came out of the oven. It was one of the best cupcakes I have had. Pretty cute shop with upper floor seats which gives you a nice view of the street. Deco is also pretty good and has some calming effect to it. Great coffee as well.

I needed something special for my son's 30th birthday. Because of Covid, it's been over a year since I've seen him, so this had to be good. I found the perfect cake on their website. The ordering process was easy and they eliminated the guess work. I spoke to Fadi on the phone and he was so accommodating and assured me it would be delivered on his birthday. His customer service was outstanding and helped take away some of the parental guilt I was feeling for not being there :) Fadi sent me a picture of the cake and followed up after the delivery. Really like this place because of convenience and because I can usually find a spot here even when the other coffee places are full. Decent espresso and cappuccino, teas are nice too. The baked goods can be hit or miss. The cakes are generally amazing (moist, decadent).. especially love the spice cake and the carrot cake. The nutella and the ginger cookies are incredible! Can't vouch for the cupcakes or the bars. Not impressed by the cheesecakes.

My wife and I chose The Cakeroom to make our cupcakes and cutting cake for our wedding last year. First of all, their stuff is truly so delicious. Everything you could want from a cake. Sweet enough without being too sweet, and extremely moist. Icing was the perfect consistency and there’s a bunch of creative cake flavors. The price is so fair for the quality of the cake and their service. The nicest woman helped us at the front while we picked what we wanted. A year later, my wife and I did the traditional “freeze your cake” thing for our anniversary and I kid you not, that thing was just as delicious as the first time we got it. The Oreo cake from Cake Room was phenomenal! We had about 12 people come in from out of town, and it was a complete crowd pleaser. We ordered for 8pm on July 4th, but I realized I would need it closer to 1pm. I dropped in during the morning to request an earlier pick up time, and even though they were swamped with orders they were able to have the cake ready within an hour. It was incredibly helpful for them to accommodate the schedule change. Would 100% recommend their cakes and services to anyone interested.

It was a hassle trying to order a cake. I had the website up, knew exactly which cake I wanted and it said it was $45. When I called to place the order, they tried to charge $12 more for the cake. Let me start by saying this...I'm a mechanical engineer and with my job comes some sacrifice like working holidays. So the other day was Christmas Day and I was at work like normal with a function to go to in the evening hosted by a great friend of mine and his family. I always like to bring something nice for him and his family and today was no different except it was December 25th. So I checked Google to see if ANY pastry shops in the district were open and one said 'The CakeRoom' was open. I figured it was a misprint but I called anyways and to my surprise and actual voice answered the phone. There was a pause in my voice because I first thought it was a voicemail but come to find out it was the owner of 'The CakeRoom'. He said they will be open until 1 p.m. and seconds later I was in my car and on my way. Come to find out the owner ( whose name I did not catch unfortunately) chose to work Christmas Day in order for his employees to enjoy the day off. Without a doubt and absolute Class Act. I ended up ordering a slice of sweet potato cheesecake, Nutella cheesecake, and 3 cupcakes. Fast forward to 8 hours later, I can only be honest when I say the pastries and cheesecake were absolutely amazing!! I just want to add that for an owner of a business to take the responsibility of working Christmas day in order for his employees to enjoy their time off with family and friends is without a doubt Above and Beyond. Seriously do yourself a favor if you have a sweet tooth set your GPS to The CakeRoom at 2006 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 and I promise you you will not be disappointed. The shop, the setup, freshness, selection and owner are freaking awesome.

Some of their flavors are unique, but they do even the unconventional flavors very well. They also have coffee, tea, and specialty beverages. This is a charming bakery. There's a lovely little room in the loft with tables and comfy seating. There's street level seating as well with a window facing 18th if you like to people watch. The CakeRoom offers a large selection of cookies, cupcakes and cakes. They also have coffee and tea. The line was a bit long when we arrived late afternoon midweek. The server-counter person was alone but she was gracious and extremely patient. The line would have moved along more quickly if customers weren't so indecisive. Although I empathize with the situation because there is so much yumminess from which to choose The atmosphere is almost magical and the selection can be overwhelmingly. We tried 6 different cupcakes, with one being better than the next. The next quickly becoming a memory with each bite of the newest. My family and I were all pleasantly surprised by the high quality ingredients, creativity, deliciousness and affordable prices. I was also impressed by the Cakeroom's design and their kind patient employee. It's very evident there's a lot of love, talent and magic going on at the Cakeroom. I highly recommend.

Finally, a bakery in DC that actually knows how to make a cake! This is the first bakery in DC that lives up to the hype. Both their cupcakes and cakes are delicious. I'm a cake snob plain and simple, but The Cakeroom went beyond my expectations. After sampling a variety of their delicious cupcakes (favorites were tiramisu, strawberries and cream, and pistachio cardamom) and cakes, we decided to order a a couple of coconut cakes for our wedding. Having already tried the cake, I knew it would be amazing, but literally every guest asked where we got our cakes and told us how delicious they were. I would highly recommend The Cakeroom for an event or for just when you need something sweet to get you through the day. Don't waste your time with the other so called cake/cupcake places in this town, The Cakeroom is far superior.
