I would kill to have a place this good in Northern VA or DC. There are so many great food options, sweets, and coffee drinks. The owner is super sweet, and the cafe is so cute. Definitely one of my new favorite spots here in VA Beach. 100% will be back. You won’t miss eating any meat when you try their food!

Amazing vegan cafe with friendly staff, delicious food and chill vibe. Very family friendly atmosphere with board games available and a large connect 4 outdoors. Plenty of outdoor seating and nicely spaced indoor seating. We had the Philly cheesesteak with tots and biscuits with sausage gravy and scramble as well mimosa and a pop tart to go. Everything was clearly made from scratch and seasoned well. The mimosa tasted like it had fresh squeezed orange juice and they had some of the best biscuits I’ve ever had. Loved the orange cranberry filling in the homemade pop tart and even the water had a great lemon flavor. Some of the best vegan cheese eggs I’ve ever had as well. Very large satisfying portions. Definitely can’t come to VA beach with out coming here.

Visited Kahiau’s for the first time today. Such a cute and clean place, inside and out. We ordered the breakfast bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese with tots and the biscuits and gravy. SO GOOD!! Delish! Great flavors! I even liked the tots, which I am normally not big on tots. Great quality. I would have ordered some baked treats if I didn’t have a fitness thing tomorrow. But for sure, I’m going back! Highly recommend. Edit: Oh, and THANK YOU for not using a bunch of oil! It wasn’t greasy at all. Love that. Edit: 2nd visit today. We dined in. Added pics of our burrito bowl and omelette. Food is to die for!!

Great all vegan place that will satisfy vegans and omnivores alike. I tried the waffle sausage egg and cheese sandwich, the everything bagel sausage egg and cheese, and the smores cupcake. The egg and sausage are both made in house and they're both incredibly tasty and great textures. I liked the bagel sandwich more but I think that's just personal preference. The waffle was really good on its own but I just didn't love it as the sandwich. The cupcake was very tasty, as were the tots that come as a side. Customer service was excellent. I wish I lived nearby, this would definitely be a regular spot for me.

OMG!!! The most amazing, made from scratch vegan food that I've ever eaten! Their biscuits and gravy are out of this world! Their pancakes put all other pancakes to shame. They are the fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten or even seen for that matter. Everything is made from scratch and tastes delicious! I'll probably go back tomorrow for breakfast or lunch. I only regret not buying some of their baked goods to take home. The folks who work there are incredibly nice and they go out of your way to make you happy! Highly recommend.

My son is gluten/egg/dairy free and we struggle to find options that are delicious and not full of processed ingredients. This place is IT! Plus, I am the opposite of vegan, and that omelette was delicious. It’s randomly located in the middle of a neighborhood, but sooo cute inside. Oh! They have awesome cocktails, too!

Every once in a while you find a hidden gem. This place is definitely that gem. My wife is vegan and it’s not the easiest to find a vegan spot that she and I both can enjoy. They had plenty for her and a lot of different pastries for me. I’d say we were both happy with the verity. Thanks for that. Even scored some gluten free strawberry crumb cake for a family member with sensitive stomach. Kid friendly spot. The people that worked there were genuinely a pleasure to talk to. We will be back, and often.

My husband and I have always loved Kahiau's food but this review is specific to our wedding cake that Vikki did. My husband and I are vegan, and we had two vegan guests, but the rest of our guests were complete omnivores and vegan food skeptics. Wow, did she blow it out of the park with our cake!! Everyone LOVED it and they still talk about it to this day. My husband's mom said it was her favorite cake she's ever had! The design of our cake was also exactly what we had envisioned. Nice staff but was not impressed with the quality of the food and shortbread cookies for price paid. I ordered the lox bagel and the salmon was a small portion in comparison to other places I have been and marbled which was a first for me. I did enjoy the bagel part. Latte was pretty good, but made on a small and old looking machine. Full disclosure I do not have any dietary restrictions to warrant me having eat at a place like this and was simply drawn in by the pictures and overall stars. I wish I did more research and read the 1 star reviews before inviting a friend and spending the money. Im sure this place is great for those with dietary restrictions and can afford it.

The portions are huge AND delicious. We opted to deliver this time due to the blistering temps outside, and our meal traveled pretty well. We learned on our last visit that this is a very small shop that also caters events, so prepare to go early or be flexible if some menu items have sold out when you arrive. Pro tip: they do vegan afternoon tea!!! Call a month or more ahead (they’re in wedding season for the summer and are booked on weekends), but they can do weekday teas!

Every time I go the food takes over 35 minutes even with only one or two other tables. Server forgot our water and it seemed like they were prioritizing delivery orders. This time my partner and I’s food came out cold but we were so hungry we didn’t care. The cheese product they use is gooey and gross & the entrees are expensive and often have an artificial taste. They are always out of the one or two good entrees they make early. I would go here for baked goods and nothing else. Owner often begs for people to come in but each time we do it’s just a ridiculous experience. Need more help or training in how to run a hot food line

A must try! I was hesitant because I couldn’t find a menu for this place but decided to try anyways and I’m so glad I did! I am sure they don’t always serve the same items which is great variety. If they have mac and cheese on the menu it is amazing. They also have many dessert and bakery options like cinnamon rolls, cake, cookies etc. the place is very homie and everyone was friendly. I didn’t feel that anything here was overly expensive either which I find happens a lot when eating at a vegan restaurant. I got a piece of cake, cinnamon roll, 2 bowls of mac and cheese, and fried rice for $30. I got my money’s worth no doubt.

The biscuits & gravy meal is my absolute favorite item to order. It’s perfect, and you wouldn’t know it’s vegan. I also ordered a “meat & cheese” charcuterie box that I really enjoyed, but it was very pricey. I’ve tried their holiday iced sugar cookies & cupcakes and they were both delicious. I have ordered a few other things I haven’t liked as much, such as the mac & cheese, the house-made egg and banana bread. Just wasn’t for me and my personal tastes. The owner works so hard, and is personable & accommodating. It is evident that she truly cares about her customers and everything she makes. I am happy to support this lovely local business!

The person working the counter was so miserable and inconvenienced by customers. It was such an uncomfortable experience, you could feel the tension in the place. I didn't even want to go back up to the counter to ask for the food we ordered. If the food wasn't so good (it really is!), I would give 1 star.

The food was good, as were the huge variety of baked goods I tried. The owner was so sweet, helpful, and accommodating. Early last week (3 February 2022)I went to Kahiau's Bakery & Cafe and forgot to post! Regular Mac & Cheeze, Potato Salad, and Sicilian Pie with their homemade pepperoni! All scrumptious! The Sicilian Pie…I could’ve easily eaten three slices (they’re huge)…so good!! Stopped in Friday (2/25) for a cupcake (sister wanted a treat). It was 2:40 PM and I asked if I could order a Philly cheesesteak (they stop taking orders at 2:30 since they close at 3). The owner was so sweet, she made it. I also got two different Sicilian slices…they are SO good! Peppers & onions and the other was a meaty version. A slice of Chocolate Blueberry cake…my sister loved it, along with the cupcake! An almond donut and a cinnamon sugar donut…wow, so fresh and yummy!!

I strongly recommend Kahiau's!! When choosing a Vegan bakery there are just a few options in Hampton Roads. All do a good job but our top pick is without a doubt Kahiau's! The birthday cakes are world class. The owner is tireless in her craft and her accolades and many awards reflect that fact. This vegan bakery/restaurant/cafe is full of surprises!! They do EVERYTHING well. I have been a long time supporter of Kahiau's since they were at the Virginia Beach Farmer's Market. However, today was the first day that I stepped into the restaurant. Excited to see what Kahiau had grown into and experience some good vegan food and treats, I had to refrain from ordering one of everything! I had the Shepard's Pie which was just delicious. Afterwards, I took home a few treats including shortbread cookies, a fruity tart and a cheesecake. I cannot wait to go home and try it!! Kahiau is a quaint and cozy restaurant worth trying. She puts a twist on the word vegan with her creative combinations!!

I had some of the best vegan comfort food here. They had a gluten-free mac and cheese that they paired with a pumpkin chili for me and it was amazing. It was priced about the same as other restaurants and staff was very helpful and friendly. The dessert displays were also enticing and I will definitely be back. First time here and have been wanting to come for a long time. I love that this place exists (all vegan). It's very cute, charming, quaint. I had the quinoa salad and husband had a brat with fries. The fries were great. And the salad was good but I would've liked a more flavorful dressing. His brat was good as well. We also grabbed some items from the bakery for later...everything looked delicious.

I've had fresh raspberry quinoa bowls and decadent vegan burgers, Philly steaks, and many different flavors of mac & cheese. The desserts aren’t amazing. I paid 7$ for a really dry brownie and she gave me a hard time getting a refund. If it was 2$ I would just let it go but it was expensive and dry like Texas dirt. She tasted it and told me I was wrong... really wasn’t expecting her to hassle me. My vegan sweet tooth has better tasting pastries. The breakfast food at kahaius is good though... just pricey.

I tried vegan with my sister since she has a lot of food allergies and I wanted to try something new with her. The cafe is adorable, but the menu is sparce and only available on a small chalkboard. They dont serve water with ice, so we had luke warm water on a hot summer's day after waiting 30 minutes for our food (2 omelets, no tots since they ran out). It may just be how vegan omelets are, but ours were like paste and I couldn't finish mine. The banana bread is excellent, though, and the cookies looked good too. I would recommend the bakery to go, but I wouldn't recommend the omelets.

I have an egg allergy, and I haven't had a a chance to try a lot of foods and desserts. I got a pound cake with chocolate chips and pecans, and icing for my husband's birthday. It wasn't too sweet, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband loved rhe cake, and said that he couldn't even tell the difference. We just went there today with my dad, and had their burger, philly cheesesteak, and Italian Sausages. Everything was so delicious. And, I had cheesecake for the first time ever. I look forward to trying the chocolate chip cookies and almond doughnut.

After one visit, Kahiau's is easily among the top vegan/vegetarian restaurants in the Hampton Roads area. I had the fried chicken sandwich sandwich and my wife got the waffle breakfast sandwich. Both were exceptional. The portion size is reasonable, the food is prepared fresh, and all of the employees are very friendly. I can't wait to go back!
