If you are looking to try the state dessert, this place has it! I stopped in specifically for a Nainamo bar and popped in right before they were closing. The lady working was very helpful and even suggested directions as i was leaving when I mentioned where I was trying to go. The Nainamo bar - all the sweetness! I've never had something quite like it. Almost like an ice cream bar, bit with a firm frosting / chocolatey texture and a little texture from the nuts in the Crust. Best served cold. It's a must try if you love sweet things. Very dense and I'm sure it's off the charts when it comes to calories, but if nothing else it's worth a one time splurge. Enjoy!!

This bakery 🥯 is a community bakery The only way you really know about it is if you work around here or if you live around here but it has some amazing cookies croissant’s and many other 👅 tasty delights I’ll give them a guaranteed four-star with ease. I will say When you walk in do not expect any southern hospitality they are pretty much quiet at work until you asked for assistance the staff is usually pretty busy that is my only pet peeve at this place

Cookies, cakes, and confirmation of a Higher Power: Pictured is the Bacon Chocolate cookie, which would be the death of me if I were still working in the area near Sugar. They have unique but not outlandish baked goods at reasonable prices. The employees are always friendly, and I very much appreciate the small discount given to health care workers. The location is also quaint with lots of bygone charm. There is not a ton in the way of indoor seating, though enough to have spots for 5-6 pairs. Only issue is getting parking to visit. While I only ever purchased their wide assortment of cookies (which were always soft though firm in structure), the rest of their offerings appeared as incredible. Would highly recommend this place, and may be going out of my way soon to get some more of those killer cookies.

Perfect! When you approach the place looks dated on the outside. But then you go in, and you see 5-6 people baking, the aromas are amazing and you feel like you are in Paris. It’s me my new daily addiction! Great croissants, very tasty coffee, and superb pastries and cakes.

It's a small spot with 7 small tables with 2 chairs each, inside. Only 2 table/seats outside on the sidewalk. It gets busy in the morning. I arrived a little after 10 am and there was a line. That being said there is only one person taking care of the food order and payments. So they might forget a portion of your order- double check before you leave. Prices are reasonable. I had a plain croissant for $4 and a nice sized portion of veggie quiche for $6- all tasted good. The cakes look so good and you can order slices. They also sell small plants, but pricey. I appreciate that they use biodegradable shopping bags :) Lastly, they offer 10% discount for essential workers.

Small shop with an eclectic variety of delicious treats. They have a very stable menu but do run out of some things before the day ends. The salted caramel croissant is my absolute favorite. Try the lemon polenta cake. They sell cakes whole & by the slice. Much smaller than their Queen Anne location, I rarely see people working here though they have a half dozen small tables.

really enjoyed nearly everything at sugar bakery & cafe. the croissant was light and flaky and the jam scone was super tasty! the bacon breakfast sandwich was a bit odd to me. the bacon seemed rubbery and the baked egg square just didn’t taste very good. so i guess you chalk it up to win some and lose some. coffee was decent as well.

Small bakery and cafe in first hill that serves very good Vietnamese coffee (hot, sweet and delicious) that was quite busy the morning I went. There are a limited number of tables inside and a few tables outside on the sidewalk. They have wi-fi (I did not use it so i can not say how good it was).

Sugar Bakery bakery on Madison Ave in First Hill has such an unattractive storefront that I never gave it any thought when I passed by. Besides, its name suggests a cake shop or that it specializes in sweet pastries which I don't really appreciate. But it keeps showing up in my IG feed with sponsored posts so I finally checked it out one day. It turned out better than I expected. Their offerings look decent: pastries, coffee and house made breakfast items, although their croissants are a bit dry and bland, not up to my standard. They have another location, a so-called coffeehouse, at the back of Seattle Center across the street from KEXP. That location has a much more inviting atmosphere, with plenty of indoor seatings (with wifi).

Wonderful service and even better pastries. Have ordered cookies, croissants, scones and cakes from Sugar and not a single time have I been disappointed. Cakes are moist and flavorful and cookies are wonderfully chewy, what more can you ask for in a bakery.... Highly recommend.

Food: The cakes + drinks here are super tasty AND well-priced. Hours: In a town where bakeries are 1) rarely open when you want them to be (eg after 3pm) or 2) sold out of their best baked goods by noon, it's awesome to know I can rely on this bakery :)

OMG is the best adjective I can think of. If your looking for a sweet treat that makes time stand still, then look no further. I ordered a few things thru UberEATS and I was not disappointed. The Salted Caramel Croissant was not gooey like I might have suspected but more flakey but definitely all salted caramel. The Havarti Croissant, eh, I could do without. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious. I was just looking for more cheesy. On the savory side of things, the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich is perfect. And it's got a fantastic spicy kick to it. Not too much bit just right. The Bacon Chocolate Chip cookie sounded better than it was. Again, very good but nothing spectacular to write home about. It's tastes just like it looks, a chocolate chip cookie with bacon on it. And last but not least The Cinnamon Brioche! It's listed as a menu favorite for a reason. You can't order from here and not try this. Well, I suppose you can but it would feel right. Definitely recommend this place and the items even traveled well thru UberEATS under 30 minutes!

Sugar Bakery & Cafe made a custom cake for me - a delicious Boston Cream Pie! I was able to easily pre-order it on their website after confirming the custom order could be fulfilled over the phone. It was ready a few days later for my boyfriend’s birthday and we loved it! Not only was the cake delicious, but it was gorgeous and professional. My boyfriend hasn’t had a good Boston pie in awhile and this was the perfect gift to him. Everyone was so nice at the store when I came to pick up the cake. I also got a good cold brew here! I’ll have to come back for the other good looking pastries.

The red velvet cake was very yummy, but had both pros and cons. I love how it's filled with chocolate mousse icing inbetween layers instead of traditional vanilla, it actually pairs really well and the chocolate was SO good. Cream cheese frosting is good but there's too much of it in ratio of the cake. There were just a few bites of cake and then it was done, feels like a small portion for the price with too much frosting left over. Cake was so good but a little dry at the end. I would still come back and try other things here though! Nice staff too.

Super small spot so don't expect to hangout here. But DO expect tasty coffee from Caffe Vita (Seattle staple) as well as tasty treats. I tried the iced cinnamon brioche rolls and they were great heated up with icing that oozed out if the center. (You know that one perfect bite in the middle? These had it) friendly staff as well. Looks like they do larger cakes too for those office parties. Looked very delicious and pretty special.

Good to stop by and try, though I probably wouldn’t return. Interesting selection - they had a havarti croissant and cinnamon brioche bun, curry chicken croissant sandwich (served cold). And a few interesting drink selections I didn’t try. The seats weren’t too comfortable though so I probably wouldn’t go there to work. Service was just decent. There’s water cups though!

Super warm atmosphere and delicious pastries, cookies, coffee and cake - what more could a girl ask for!!?! The kitchen is wide open and you can see all the mixers and stuff they use to make the food! The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable about their food. They also have a neat loyalty card system where you can get a free coffee or cookie on your 8th visit. simply put it’s a wonderful place to have breakfast or lunch.

The caprese sandwich is life changing!! Toasted on focaccia bread with an aioli(?) sauce, it was the best I’ve ever had. Great coffee and staff too!

I live close by, so finally decided to try this bakery. I like to bake as well. I stopped by right before closing. Today I tried their creme brûlée cake. Pros: The cake tasted like a cream brûlée. I liked the alternating cake and icing with the caramel on top. They did a good job with flavor. Cons: The cake was dry. The slice was too small in my opinion. Experience: The server was friendly. No issues there. Nothing exceptional, nothing terrible. I also felt like I cur smaller slice. Out of 2 slices, why give the smaller one? It’s closing and you can’t sell it tomorrow. To be honest that might not be the case, it is just how I felt. I left a little disappointed before even trying the cake. To me the experience and service matters as well. I’ll give them 2 more tries before making a final decision on this bakery. 1 strike, 2 more chances to go.

So my very good friend took me here on my last day of work after I quit my job. To say that this place has now ruined my life within life would be an understatement. Cake is my love language. I work out because I want to be able to eat cake. Now I can only ever eat cake here. My friend who brought me here now has my undying love. I'm pretty sure I have to divorce my husband now. I cannot even describe the heaven that is the Creme Brule cake. We ordered a grotesque amount of food and I ate every bit of it because I could not stop myself. If you do not go directly to this bakery and eat everything in it you are missing out on life. I will for sure be returning as often as possible. Additionally the staff was as sweet as their treats they're treats and I had nothing but a lovely experience here. 10 stars

Stayed at Hotel Sorrento across the street for a business trip and got the vegetarian breakfast sandwich and an oat milk matcha latte every day I was in Seattle. Both were delicious. You can order online if you want to avoid the wait (which isn't too long) and everyone who works here is super nice. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in the area!

Relaxing ambiance, friendly and helpful staff, and nice small curated variety of desserts (cookies, brownies, bars, macarons, hand pies, scones, cakes, cupcakes). They do have a sandwiches and coffee. But I was looking for something sweet. The lemon chiffon cake hit that spot. Portion was good for $6; buttercream was not as dense as others and not too sweet; cake was in between dry and moist and did not crumble; and the lemon flavor is just sour enough to blend well with the other components. Free wifi is a plus. I would recommend this place for a quick bite to satiate their sweet tooth.

Omg. The BREAKFAST SANDWICH. It is so good. Okay, everything is good and made with love. Yes, the cafe is tiny, but so worth a visit. Their cakes are serious about frosting: no sad cake to frosting ratio here...oh no! There is a lot of frosting on each heavenly slice of cake. The carrot walnut cake with cream cheese frosting...yummmmm. Go donate blood across the street, and then enjoy a chocolate chip bacon cookie, or a lavender shortbread, or, you know...a breakfast sandwich!

The cake and coffee were delightful and the shop was very nice and cozy, 5/5 for those. I hate to dock stars from an otherwise great place but that bathroom is gnarly. At first I was charmed by by the adorable cook book pages on the wall and how nice it smelled in there. I saw the candle and then realized with horror that the ceiling wasn't supposed to be black, it was probably all soot from the candles built up over time. I started to feel the familiar tickle of my asthma being triggered and decided to get out asap. Really hoping it gets cleared up soon.

Decent selection of various desserts, pastries, and coffees/teas. My only critique is that I ordered a single cupcake, but wasn't asked if I wanted it for dine in or to go and was surprised to receive it in quite a bit of packaging (an entire collapsible box plus a little tray to keep it upright.)

Cute cafe with a decent London fog. I tried 4 different cakes and they were also good. None of them held flavor though. Birthday cake was flavorless. The strawberry champagne was amazing! But the next day it was not good. The salted Caramel was pretty good but very strongly flavored. Same thing as the strawberry though, the next day it had no flavor. It was strange! I don't even remembered the final flavor of cake. Cute place decent selection but I wouldn't go out of my way for it again

Top notch service! I ordered a cake from India for my sister in Seattle. The payment gateway was smooth and the website had all the relevant details. Even though I messed up the delivery instructions, the team promptly helped me out via timely email. As for the Pink Champagne cake that I had ordered, it was fresh and delicious with a mouth watering blend of raspberry! Kudos to the team!

Some of the best croissants I have had in Seattle! The plain croissant is crisp, light and buttery but with a really nice flavor. Their ham and gruyere croissant is one of my favorites as they add what tastes as a small amount of mustard which if you are not a fan of, as I am usually not, trust me it works so well as it cuts through the richness of the croissant and the smokiness of the ham. Their blueberry danish is also excellent and well balanced!

Whether you sit inside, out or take your pastry to go, this is a wonderful neighborhood bakery. The brioche was buttery, the personal baguette perfect and the breakfast sandwich layered with veggies and cheese was wonderful. The folks just as nice. My absolute favorite surprise was the lavender soda! I had never heard of one and it was fabulous! Refreshing and memorable! I'd go back to Seattle just for the Sugar Bakery and Cafe.

Wow! You know the kind of place that just has a terrific buttery appetizing aroma the moment you walk in? Everything was really nicely flavored and perfect texture. The warmed brie-proscuttio sandwich had that chewy bread that really pulls on your teeth, and was rich in flavor without being over the top. The Vietnamese coffee is like this little party happening in your teacup, and was rich and smooth. The salted caramel croissant was flaky and yet substantial, and was a little too salty, but then that's the gimmick. Definitely worthwhile.

Definitely one of the best bakeries in town. Fun original artwork on their walls at each location. The staff has always been consistently cheerful and their enthusiasm shows in their work! The Nanaimo bars might be my favorite-paired with a cup of coffee...SO GOOD!

Dude, let's talk about that SALTED CARAMEL CROISSANT. So. good. It's not a croissant oozing with caramel like I initially thought, but a croissant coated with the finest layer of caramels to give it a slight crunch on the outside, without sacrificing the buttery softness of the croissant itself. Perfect mixture of salty and sweet. The bakery is pretty no frills on the inside, but their pastries are very good. My only wish is that they could offer directly to warm up pastries.

Awesome soup and easily the best caprese sandwich that I’ve ever had can be found here. Staff were super friendly and all wore masks correctly, and I appreciated the extra measures they took COVID-wise. Oh, and the compostable containers are nice (as opposed to the recyclable minimum set forth by the city). I will absolutely be returning soon😋

Favorite bakery in Seattle, because the focus is delicious, freshly baked treats and coffee. I’m in love with the almond croissants baked only on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the jam scone is my go-to. The Caprice sandwich and Vegan Muffin are both really good. And vegan too. Overall the food is really good but don't expect a quick turnaround if you're in a hurry.

My refuge from the hospital during my break or when my folks are there for their stuff. Such good coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and people (last but not at all least) here. Highly recommend the jam scone, any cookie, salted caramel croissant, dirty chai, and any coffee. Stop by. They have a second location as well.

In addition to serving delicious pastries and coffee, the accessibility is great. The door pushes in. There are tables of different heights. It's not overly crowded. They take digital payments like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. They have non-dairy milk alternatives. But, like all of Seattle now, I don't think they have any non-melty straws.
