Carol’s Pastry Shop makes the BEST chocolate eclairs! The custard filling is delicious, and there’s a great quantity within each shoe. The chocolate is thick and yummy, not at all waxy. The pastries are very well priced too. I highly recommend the eclairs!

Family owned and still ran. They have the best best eclairs ever ever! They have super affordable prices a lot of memories at this place. They have early 1900s car NOT FOR SALE trust me I asked. Fantastic old school bakery! We loved it! At first it seemed a little odd like you were driving into someone's backyard, but indeed there's an actual bakery there...since like 1962 or so. Pastries were very good, I'll definitely be back. I should have bought an entire box of their mini cake squares! Prices were good and the guy behind the counter was super helpful!

I feel bad I haven’t posted a review for Carol’s Pastry Shop until now. My husband is a huge eclair lover, his mom made them for him when he was a boy. Over the years he has tried other eclairs but they were never the “right ones”! About 10 years ago we accidentally found Carol’s and my husband has been a very happy man ever since. We live about 50 miles from Salt Lake City. Whenever we’re in town we make a stop at Carol’s. We’ve even been known to make special trips just to get his eclair fix! I love them too! You need go no further; this is the right place for eclairs. Other reviews for this location will tell you how amazing their eclairs are - they are 100% correct. Understated, even. We were looking for eclairs for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday celebration (eclairs are her favorite) and searched from Cache Valley to Utah Valley, sampling far too many mediocre eclairs - some from places that we expected to have very good ones. Our last stop was Carol's. No need (or option, really) to go further. Their eclairs are an order of magnitude better than the other bakeries'; truly in a class by themselves. Every element is perfect - Choux pastry, filling (Bavarian Cream - not whipped cream!) and chocolate icing. There is even an extra - a small frosting flower on top. These are simply the best. And the bakers are very friendly, too.

What a quaint little hidden Utah gem. Best eclairs I've ever had PLUS sugar cookies that melt in your mouth. Even more remarkable that two brothers, in their late 80s/early 90s continue to run and operate it. Very hands on and friendly. I love the alley atmosphere

My wife and I went here on an impromptu date after taking care of something nearby. We had the eclair, chocolate cake donut, and both the apple and cherry strudel. All were excellent, as was the customer service. Highly recommend.

I don't know how I missed this place in all the years I've lived in Utah. Hands down the best baked goods I've had in this state. I understand this place has been around since 1948, and after eating some of their food I can tell you that's exactly why they've been around so long. I highly recommend the bear claws, they are well known for their eclairs so I really don't need to talk about that. I'm excited to go back and try some more of the food that they have. Definitely worth finding them and getting a box of treats

Great little pastry shop it's inside a house and I honestly stumbled into by accident, but what a lovely accident it turned out to be! Seriously you can't go wrong on the menu and I don't know where to recommend to start it's all so good! Go check it out for yourself!

I have been enjoying the wonderful pastries, rolls, pies and cakes from this fantastic little bakery for 30 years. It is as good today as it was then. There isn't a better eclair in the state. It breaks my heart that Al is no longer with us but you can still taste the love that he and Bob have always put into every item made within the walls of this nostalgic little gem of a bakery.

This bakery is worth the hunt, it's tucked away on a side street off a side street. You will be so happy you found it, everything and by that l mean everything that comes out of Carol's is of exceptional quality. Once you've sampled their wares, you'll give up on big box bakeries forever. The favorites are the lemon bars and the eclairs, wonderful and very reasonably priced. Be brave go back until you've tried everything. Carol's can't be recommended enough. Go there and enjoy the ultimate sugar high.

Been here three times and each time was a treat, pun intended. I’ve ordered these donuts/pastries twice for my coworkers and they all love them. They get eaten up fast and often I get asked when I’ll be bringing them in again. I’ve also gone by myself, even though I never crave donuts, just to get their Boston creme donut. It’s made with custard, not whipped cream! Aka the right way 😎 or at least in my book it is. A lot of times they’ll have warm treats right out of the oven. I’ve gonna in before opening and they’ve had no problem as well. Very nice family and locally owned place that is extremely hospitable and kind.

Carol's Pastry Shop is a classic in SLC, esp if you want eclairs. My grandma adored the place, and my mom has carried on the tradition of buying the eclairs/other treats. It's definitely a small business and has small business vibes, but it has been around for a long time. I personally think the sweets are ok, not amazing or anything, but my mom and others think they're the best.

Downright fantastic family owned bakery and pastry shop!! The sons and grandsons of the original owners that have since passed all help run the place. Added with the fact that their place is open concept and has a lot of history associated with it, (ie, they still have on display their old Model T delivery vans and other memorabilia displayed within which is super neat!). You will not find a better bakery that has served the city and county for as long and as consistently as Carols has. Been there countless times, the eclairs and brownies are amongst the all time favorites! Be sure to check out other reviewers pictures for reference! The location itself can be a little tricky getting to the first time, but it's well worth it and you'll definitely understand once you try out why it's so highly recommended! Support your local business!

Great quality products and good prices. The only things I've had here that I didn't love were the cookies and the Apple Pie. The apple pie had a weird topping, I think parmesan?? I'm not real sure. The cookies were dry and crumbly with very basic flavor. Everything else here is amazing though. Best strudel and turnovers i've ever found.

Let me tell you something... There is delicious and then there is a next level and that next level is Carol's. One of my good friends brought me a dozen eclairs today. Guys. I just finished my 3rd. Absolutely decadent. You combine that with the amazing atmosphere and history of the gentlemen running the show?! This has to be one of the best gems in Utah. Can't recommend this place enough. Stop in, order anything they have. I can bet you'll love it.

Maybe my expectations were high because so many people said best eclairs in the reviews. I would say theyre slightly above average. Parking is a bit rough and cramped. The history of this place is pretty neat, and granted I only tried the eclairs. So possibly other stuff is really good. The vibe in the bakery is nice and they're are historic displays.

I am in charge of getting birthday treats for our employees. One employee requested eclairs, so I did some research on who had the best eclairs, Carols Pastry Shop showed up on every search. Do you support local business.....then you need to stop in for a pastry. Carol's has the most amazing pastries and you can't beat their value. The eclairs are my favorite, they are the best I have EVER eaten. The custard is too notch and the chocolate is of the highest quality. The lemon bars could be arguably just as good if your not into eclairs. Park out on Lincoln Street and walk back to the shop in the alley. I would always suggest the eclairs, but if it is your first time load up the box with one of everything...it will be the best gift you could give yourself.

My son begged for months to have his birthday cake from here. We ordered it and they made it exactly perfect!! While picking his cake up I had to bring home eclairs (so flaky and creamy custard), lemon squares (perfect flavor), and brownies (not too cakey for texture, just right). Delicious and inexpensive. I bought 2 eclairs, and was blown away at how delicious they are. I'm really picky about my choux pastry, and these guys nailed it. Perfectly crisp and didn't get soggy from the cream. Also, the rum balls, which was made using leftover cake...oh my gosh, so good. I'm glad I got 4! I'll definitely be coming back :)

There are places that are only known to the locals and may be an open secret. Well, this open secret was finally discovered and it was quiet a find. The pastries were out of this world. Anytime we are in SLC we stop in at this cute little bakery. The treats are absolutely amazing and the prices are too. If you go I suggest the apple turnover, that has been my favorite so far. Im pretty sure as a family we have tried it all but that turnover was heavenly

Go to Carol’s Pastry Shop for their pies and you won’t be disappointed. Their apple and cherry pies are as good as you can get. If you’re lucky, you may go on a day they are making blueberry pies, and these are the best, the best Jerry, the best! The bakery is located down little alley off Lincoln Street, but signed well, so you should not have any problem finding it, but there are only two or three parking spots, so you may want to park on Lincoln Street and walk back the the bakery. Although we go here for the delicious pies, their eclairs are their signature item. This is a unique, one-of-a-kind bakery where everything is baked fresh, and their prices are from the 1990’s.

I went here for the first time today. I was kinda nervous about how good it would be because of the location. There was no need to be worried though, the staff were friendly and patient. The selection was kind of low because we went later in the day but that’s a good sign! I grabbed up some lemon bars and let me tell you... they were SO yummy! First time ever, I used to live in Sugarhouse and was not even aware this existed. But oh my gosh, I discovered it and was worth driving from Midvale for this. I love the old school non pretentious vibe. The owners as a testament are still baking, the original neon sign is working, and there is relics of the close to 80 years it has been in business, hheck the display cases are from that time frame. Service fantastic smile and appreciative, and very good just great pastries. You. feel valued. These are the businesses that should get recognition those that have been a fabric for decades, not some chain, franchise, or corporation. Compare these to a chain, or a corporation and Carols Pastry blows them out of the water. I am going to make a weekly trip from Midvalej to go to Carols weekly. I wish Midvale had a treasure like this but all we have is sterile chains, and franchises, and a Walmart and Smiths, sterile and bland as it comes. Thanks Carols

I've lived in Salt Lake City all my life. I cant believe I never knew about this place. I used to buy eclairs when I would go to groves market and buy a sandwich. I went there about two weeks ago to buy some eclairs and I asked the owner where do you get these from? He said Carol's in Sugar House. I looked it up and wasn't sure where the address was. Then I saw it by accident while doing my midnight run to mcdees in sugarhouse. As I finally went there, didnt know they have parking if you turn into an ally. I parked by the Church in front and walked filled the signs. I was amazed. As I approached the door I saw two lady's in there. I decide to wait outside just to keep social distance. As I got in I was in awe of the place. It is as if your going back in time. "Back in the good ol days." I got the Mexican wedding cookies, and guess what, price is 60 cents each. Then I got the eclairs guess what again? 1.00$. Not only is the price way affordable, but the diliciousness way good.

Our favorite pastry shop Glaus bakery closed down, there eclairs were the best I'd ever had. I've tried many pastry shops to try and duplicate glaus. These guys are an extremely close second to glaus on there eclairs. Now we just need to find a bakery that makes rum cake as good as glaus and we'll be set.

Small selection of baked goods. The wedding cookies are tasty but everything else I've tried is just okay. It's a tiny shop down some residential alley with a couple parking spots. The cute old guys that run the shop don't always hear you come in or realize you're there to buy something but it's kind of fun to watch them work in the open kitchen.

I found this bakery after I purchased a terrible pie from another bakery in SLC. My dad wanted a coconut cream pie for his birthday, and Carol's took a custom order to make one within the day for an incredibly reasonable price. The pie was AMAZING! My dad said it was his favorite coconut cream pie ever. The eclairs were delicious as well. I will definitely be ordering more pies from Carols!

#1. The owner is currently in his mid 90s (June 2020), and still opens shop every morning before youre awake and works the store. #2. The pastry and sweet selection is about what you'd expect from someone who has put 60+ years into perfected it.. absolutely delicious. #3. Shopping here is like supporting local food, local art, and local history all in one stop. #4. The grandson has brought new items such as sourdough bread and kouign amann, both worth trying

The new sour dough bread is the best. It’s a really old sour dough start that the bakers have perfected how to make this small loaf of the most delicious homemade feeling sour dough round loaf. It came out piping hot at 4:00 pm the other day when I was there. I bought three loaves to share with friends to let them know Carols has sour dough bread now!!!! Wow!!!
