The closest authentic Chinese bakery outside of Chinatown. There are amazing tarts, sweet cakes, and other traditional treats. Our family's favorites are the steamed barbecue pork buns, honey pork, sticky rice packs, and almond cookies the size of your head! So delicious.

Where do I even begin?!? My partner and I made the drive from Madison first thing in the morning on a Saturday - he didn't know where we were going, but I had called ahead the day before I place an order. We arrived right when Lucky Baker & BBQ opened, and there were others waiting outside and in the lobby (a great sign!). My partner was thrilled that the surprise was Chinese BBQ, and we picked up the order of roast ruck and pork with crispy skin. While we were there, we chose some bakery items as well (an egg tart and a red bean cake). Then, we started to drive home, snagging a piece of pork to nibble on the drive back to Madison. HOLY COW. I pulled the car over SO FAST - this pork deserves all of your attention! You cannot do it justice while driving, you need to sit and savor it! We literally bought a drink at a Panera so we could sit outside and eat this pork. I will dream about this pork every night until we can make another trip to West Allis. My life as been changed by this pork. The duck and the bakery items were also flawlessly outstanding, but I truly cannot get over the pork. We ate the entire pound of it that Saturday, and will be telling everyone we meet!

Red bean paste sesame balls are phenomenal. Crisp and not even greasy at all. Deliciously sweet and smooth filling. Lotus bean cake also great. Haven't tried the bbq yet, maybe next time!

Love the pastries here! Fresh, delicious, and will sell out fast. I’d recommend calling them ahead of time to purchase what you need as they tend to sell out before closing time. The staff is awesome and friendly. I ordered their egg tarts, sesame balls with red bean filling and with green bean filling. So good! If you want something savory try their sesame balls with pork filling. Will be a longtime customer for sure!

Great BBQ duck but is it pricy for a whole one. Call ahead if you need BBQ duck because they have a just a few ducks for sale during the day and if it out, it’s out.

Chinese bbq, as if I were in Chicago. The lady at the counter was super sweet, kind and very friendly to me and my children. Quick service, will definitely be back.

I special ordered the roast pig and it was delicious! Give them a week’s notice and you’ll be happy you ordered from Lucky Bakery. I ordered a 44# pig which was more than enough to feed 28 guys for a picnic. I think the minimum is a 35# pig so be aware that you can’t get anything less than that. However, if you can get enough people together, it’s worth it.

I was so excited to discover an authentic Chinese bakery & BBQ in the Milwaukee area. My kids did not enjoy anything I bought, but they're very very picky eaters. My husband and I, on the other hand, loved nearly everything. I bought at least one of almost every bakery item and, save for the green bean and red bean paste sesame balls, enjoyed them all. I will be making this a regular treats stop in the future.

We got the roast duck, pork buns, egg tarts and sesame balls. All of it came fresh out the oven and was DELICIOUS! I’ve never had any of these items straight out of the oven, and my god they changed the game. The sesame balls had the crispiest exterior, the egg tarts soft and silky filling with a perfectly crumbly pastry, the buns were just the right sticky, soft and light, and the roast duck—crispy skin and fall off the bone tender meat. It doesn’t get more authentic than this. Go early, or better still order a day ahead.

Love love love Lucky Bakery & BBQ. The food is awesome and the bakery is so good. A friend told me about this bakery a few years ago, so now every time I’m in town, this is a must-stop for duck and their bomb sesame balls! This is my millionth time there... 👍🏻😁 And a plus.. the owner is so nice and bubbly! Love it!

I am amazed this place is in Milwaukee. I thought I could only find authentic Chinese baked goods in San Francisco or Chicago’s Chinatown. The honey pork is out of this world delicious, moist, smoky and sticky with the glaze. I love sesame balls with red bean paste and they were crispy and chewy, soo flavorful! Very happy I found this place!

Update on 9/4/22: they seem to have staffing issue, like almost everywhere else. But the owner lady was still very kind and apologetic about the long wait. Besides she and her family was working the holiday weekend. But be prepared to wait a little before and after placing orders. Best BBQ in town! My family and friends live in Madison but we often drive 1.5 hours to come here and get our Chinese BBQ fixing.

Best food ever. Lady at the counter was so freaking nice to us. She even offered to warm up our food. The sesame balls are literally to die for. I just wished they were open mote than four days a week!! I be craving them when they’re closed !!!!!!

Their roast duck and BBQ pork taste better (down to the bone) than every one else in Chicago Land area. You might need to go to SFO or Toronto to find something comparable. Obviously the family business have staff shortage to the point that they don't make buns anymore, but that's not gonna stop people from coming.

I absolutely love this place. I don't have one favorite here though I tend to pull more towards the bbq pork baked goods like the steamed dumplings and cakes. They also have bbq pork that they serve by the pound along with chicken and duck. During this time of year they have mooncakes with an assortment of fillings. Now there probably most famous for their egg tarts. The egg tarts usually sell out before noon so I try to get there when they open. If I cant make it until later I then try to call ahead to make an order to pick up once I get there. Always delicious and always friendly service.

Good food but come early and ask for "fresh" bakeries. Otherwise, come later and all the bakeries are cold and some bread smushy. The roast duck is very good! The price is reasonable as well. Must spend more than 10$ or cash only so bring your cash :)

The pork buns for $1?!!! Amazing!!! Packed full of BBQ pork, lotus sweet bun was very tasty and all full of the paste. The clear crepe of BBQ pork was delightful! I will be going back! They had whole roast duck too, but I don't personally eat duck. Very authentic.

This hidden gem has such great Chinese baked goods. You can expect a variety from egg custard, moon cakes of all flavors, meat steamed crepes, rice/meat wrapped banana leaf that is phenomenal!! Also, there's a menu of meats you can preorder in advance. .they have cooked pork w/ skin, chicken feet, Peking duck readily available to be cut and sold. Limited space to sit down. Quick in and out service. Ample parking, wheelchair accessible. Great addition to the area.

The food is good but the lady that was in the front working is mean to the employees! She was yelling on the top of her lungs at the employees in the back. That is not nice at all! She just wanted to rush them, but we just got there and made our order. And none of the customers was rushing her. She needs to be nicer to them! She's so mean!

This place serves excellent Chinese breads and deli food. The prices are low for the quality of the products. If you are looking for the authentic Chinese taste of buns and other items, go visit this place. The white chicken with ginger sauce is awesome.

It's an Asian bakery that also has bbq items. You can get things like brined liver/gizzards, whole roast pig, bbq pigs feet, bbq chicken, ect. Cheap prices. Bakery items are unique. There is a $10.00 minimum purchase to use a credit card. Very small place, and not many chairs to sit down at, but it has unique items to eat, so you can get food to go.
