The sour cream/dill potato salad and the shrimp salad are phenomenal. Quite a few more to try. The hard rolls are old school, crispy on the outside, just the right combo of chewy and soft on the inside. The counter staff is pleasant and personable.

I read the recent reviews and was hoping for the best. I went in with an open mind and was pleasantly greeted by a teenage boy behind the counter. It was pretty early and the cases were full of many tasty delights...my only disappointment was the limited selection of cakes and cheesecakes left for the weekend, but it's Mother's Day weekend and I probably should have just ordered a cake. The shop quickly filled with customers but another associate quickly came up front to help fill orders. Again I was met with a smile and pleasant small talk from the young woman. Maybe previous reviewers went in when "someone" was having a bad day?! I didn't experience any negatives other than the limited selection of cakes...the prices seem pretty consistent with other local bakeries...the quality and taste were worth it!

Great corner bakery! First time here and was so happy I went. I got the hot ham and rolls, doughnuts and a box of Christmas cookies. The hard rolls were so fresh! Crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Doughnuts are huge and the Christmas cookies selection was plenty. Love that I found a new spot!!

Love the Sunday ham & roll tradition. Everyone was masked but there were way too many customers in the store at one time. Please provide better crown control on Sunday’s so that we can safely enjoy your bakery goodies!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Canfora Bakery, so I had been looking forward to visiting now that we’re just down the street. I adore Peter Sciortino’s, which was our previous neighborhood bakery, and was hoping Canfora would be great as well. I will say I was a little disappointed, but I’m willing to go back to try other things. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and picked up a loaf of multi-grain bread. Some of the baked goods were labeled, some were not. This made ordering not the easiest…and the customer service not the politest. There seemed to be a nice assortment of baked goods, mostly sweets, available (sadly no croissants). I would probably try one or two of these the next time we go back. The bread wasn’t bad and was decently priced for a local bakery. Canfora was reasonably busy, and we were able to get in and get out in under 5 minutes, so that was nice. Hoping things are a little more friendly and the quality a bit better next time.

A great little old school Bakery that takes pride in their products. One of the few places to get real rolls that tastes great without the preservatives that change the bread. The place smells great and the staff are just like a family-owned business. I hope they stick around!

We've always had amazing cake from caforas and my husband delivered to them for 20 plus year's. Hopefully reading the comments in the last few months. That maybe the new owner was a bit overwhelmed. Learning the ropes. But rudeness definitely hurts. Will be getting a order real quick. Keep you posted. Definitely won't let people disrespect us. Cross our fingers and I hope proven wrong.

I love this place! I have been coming since I was a young girl. The last few week, however have been a struggle. Last week they had us all waiting outside in the freezing cold until our number was called. This weekend was beautiful outside so I didn’t mind waiting outside BUT what happened to the the older ladies that kept control of the front? The kids are running around doing anything BUT taking care of the customers. I waited a good 15-20 minutes and my number was only 8 out. Can we please get some better service maybe a drive thru window?

Absolute best bakery in the Milwaukee area. Their bread is second to none and the hot ham on Sundays is out standing. When I lived in Seattle and was home for a visit I made sure to stop by for their ham and rolls. Awesome doughnuts every day of the week as well.

This place is the best! I drive 30 minutes just for their ham & rolls and am never disappointed. All the employees are very nice and courteous. Get there early or you might be standing outside. (It's worth the wait) Great place to get your Sunday football food! Go Steelers!

I won’t lie I was a bit underwhelmed when I came to this place. There really wasn’t a whole lot to select from the bakery and the sandwich that I bought was lackluster and the bread was super dry and lacked flavor. Good deli slices but I was hoping for more overall.

Excellent! We met the owner, Rosa when we tasted wedding cake samples 10 years ago and we've been loyal customers ever since. The baked goods all tend toward Italian varieties and styles. This includes a cheese danish that is incredible. Its not the typical flakey danish style,but rather a yeasty leavened dough that produces a delicious blend with the sweet, creamy cheese filling. We like the cheese so much that Rosa accommodated our request to use it as filling on our wedding cake. Memorable for all the right reasons!

Delicious hot ham and rolls. Also try a cheese pocket - that's the item that brought me in to this place for the first time! Wonderful neighborhood place for all kinds of goodies. While clearly specializing in baked goods, their selection also includes a mix of deli foods.

The only things I'm going to review will be the hot ham and rolls and the American potatoe salad. I have been eating ham and rolls on Sundays ever since I could remember. This place is always busy on Sunday mornings and for good reason. The donuts and other bakery items are just OK. Go get 1lb of ham sliced to your liking, 6 free rolls, some American potatoe salad and cheese is optional. Then proceed back to your house and chill on the couch. Perfect Sunday morning or afternoon.

What can I say....I love some canfora. Donuts are great. Italian cookies are good. I recommend their crullers. And no one has ever left sad with a long John. Especially love the paczki for fat Tuesday. Yum. Deli is great for a lunch sandwich, and the hot specials are tasty, though not my usual choice. The Italian sub on a crusted round roll is a great lunch value. And of course, they have great Italian specialties. Antipasta salads, some packaged goods, homemade pizza dough. Who can resist?

Fantastic service. Old fashioned ham salad - excellent here. Hot ham & rolls on the weekend. Cheese danish sooo delish it makes a great gift. Try the homemade cookies - sold by the pound. Had almond ones that needed to be locked in the cupboard they were so good- don't buy if on diet!

Reminds me of the bakeries in Oshkosh when I was a kid in the 50's& 60's on a Sunday morning. Packed with people each with a number (for faster service). Coffee cakes pies, Danish, long johns, jelly filled, etc. Also serving salads, cheese, hot ham and other deli meats. The bakery is well staffed with friendly people willing to help us "newbies" showing up for the first or second time. I found most of the sweet rolls are 15 to 20% larger than other donut chains. They aren't cheap expect to pay about $14.00+/- for a dozen, but they are a real treat. The traditional "jelly filled" donut for Fat Tuesday comes with multiple fillings.

Great neighborhood bakery. They have nice assortment of doughnuts, cookies, cakes, etc. They also have lunches to go or outdoor dining for lunch in nice weather. Haven't done lunch, but imagine it is good because they are usually busy. For me, the best thing about Canfora is the bread. Quite delicious. Only downside is that parking can be challenging at times.

Living 3 blocks from this place is both a blessing and a curse.Too much temptation.My favorite pastry is their pershing.Loaded with chocolate and the size of a frisbee.Their sandwiches made to order are delight.The ham and rolls on Sunday are a treat for my girlfriend,cat and I. Best Dutch crusty and potato rolls in this galaxy...........Now for an update.... just finished a three meat sub and it's better than ever! Another thumbs up.

Everything was ok; the sausage with onions and peppers, orecchiette salad, Italian sandwich, Florentine lace, and NY cheesecake. The sausage and peppers sandwich was barely warm and dry. The roll though was quite good. The cheesecake was extremely dry. I like a creamy cheesecake and though this looked delicious, it crumbled when I put my fork in it. To top it off, the girls who waited on us gave us the impression we were bothering them by being there. FYI- the only seating available is outside

Canfora's is a very good bakery. For a little while after it changed hands, I was having my doubts but it has come together pretty well. The employees are friendly and helpful. Occasionally they run out of donuts, but to me that just proves that they are back up to par. They still have all the classics, like cheese pockets, cruellers, boston creams, cheese danish, along with all the Italian cookies and breads.

There out of persian donuts at 9:30am, seriously. Don't they make enough for the whole day. Never had this problem when canforas owned the bakery. Also there's never enough workers to handle the crowd.

Most of your products are very good however your small cannolis shells are not as good as in the past. These shells were undercooked and not very flavorful. We enjoyed the sweet rolls, the sausage rolls and the pumpkin seed.

My husband and i didn't know eachother although we lived in the same neighborhood... When we met and exchanged info, it turned out that we both visited Canfora bakery frequently however we never bumped into each other while getting our Italian bread & banana boats. They were back then on Burnham & Maple. Twentysix years later we found that Canfora bakery is here in BayView still just as good as it was then except for now they don't make the banana boats anymore All in all.. Wonderful staff, it has a feeling of hospitality and being in your own kitchen.

I lived in MKE for about 3 years before I found this place and what a long three years it was. This is the only "neighborhood" bakery I've seen here that isn't rtying to be trendy.
