Reviews of Lodge Bread Company

When it comes to croissants, Lodge Bread is my favorite in LA. It's not an easy pick, since the competition is fierce; and it's a pretty personal choice. I prefer Lodge because their croissants are made with sourdough. Oh yeah, delicious, mouthwatering sourdough.
Lodge's sourdough croissants have a crunchy crust and the bottom part doesn't get soggy, the texture feels hearty. Lodge's croissants are huge, heavy, filling, and the aromatic sourdough gets me every single time.
I visited Lodge Bread in Culver City four times and tried all four croissant variations every shop makes: butter, chocolate, almond, ham and cheese. I gotta say the plain one is still my favorite, for the pure sourdough taste. I also like the chocolate croissant since sourdough goes pretty well with dark chocolate. The ham cheese croissant, on the other hand, doesn't stand out with its caked cheese, cold ham and 6.5 price tag.
Lodge Bread offers a lot more than croissants. Its pastry menu includes cinnamon roll, banana and coffee cakes, bread pudding, monkey cake, and cookies. Moreover, it has a full menu of wood fired pizza, toasts, and sandwiches. Last but not least, it's called Lodge Bread for a reason: it makes delectable sourdough bread: country, seeded, olive, baguette, as well as a rotating menu of daily specials. I once had an onion & fennel loaf, and relished the unique flavor.

What an Amazing Find!!!
I discovered this location when hunting for fresh and healthy bread. But I got a lot more.
We had a pizza, and it tasted really homemade, and the crust was one of the greatest I've ever had!!
They also give us a complimentary cookie. It has a very warm and personal feel to it. This restaurant's service is outstanding!
Thank you very much! We'll surely return to see what else you've got going on.

Honestly my first visit was a bit disappointing… this was highly rated and was on my top places to go but the breakfast Sammie I had was okay. The brioche was what made the mass majority of it 3 stars… it wasn’t fresh and tasted a bit chewy and stale. I thought it’d be freshly made, so I feel like this sandwich isn’t accurate of how their other foods are — I was debating on getting a pizza which I should’ve because those look good. The sandwich is good if you’re hungry, it’s loaded with arugula, and I got it with over hard eggs bacon. It comes with cheese and mayo. Average sandwich. If I gotten something else in the menu my rating probably would’ve been different. The parking situation is okay - you can find it around the block if not out front. There’s enough outdoor seating but no indoor. Would definitely come back to try the pizza though!

Heard rave reviews about this spot and it didn’t disappoint! We picked up chocolate and almond croissants, a berry scone and baguette. All delicious! Would love to try the bread loaves sometimes. Limited seating inside but plenty of outdoor seating as long as it’s not raining (which it was when we were there!).

Delicious bread and pastries. There is a pizza place in the same space that seems to use dough from Lodge. Everything here is amazing. They also have some craft beers and good coffee options. You can eat in their small patio and outdoor space or take home with you. The breads are constantly changing. The sandwiches use their freshly baked breads

One of my fave places for lunch in the Mar Vista area. The veggie fat pita is incredible. Pillowy dough filled with roasted cauliflower, salad, and chickpeas. Avocado toast is epic. The giant cinnamon roll is seriously giant and comes with a fluffy not-too-sweet topping.
Justin Gallop
First time, definitely not the last.
Went with family and they have been going quite often when I couldn't join. Was so happy, I was finally able to go.
Their pizza dough was so fluffy and light.
Great sandwiches!

Mega Sandwiches!
This place has two vegan sandwiches to my knowledge, I ordered the roasted cauliflower pita. The portion was huge! It was very stuffed with fresh veggies, chickpeas, and tahini. The freshly baked sourdough pita bread was delicious as well 🤤
All in all a 5 star sandwich in my books. The vanilla latte with hemp milk that I got was really good too.
Pros: Customizable coffees and sandwiches , Fresh bread , 3 types of vegan milks
Chris Morris
Margherita Pizza - 4/5 (great sauce. Cheese could be a bit more flavorful)
Mushroom Pizza - 4/5 (very tasty. Would have preferred chopped mushrooms instead of whole mushrooms)
Watch out for the high curb when parking on the street. We were unable to open the passenger door!

Great place with delicious sandwiches and fantastic service. I had the BLT and I added an egg to that. My bf had the pastrami melt sandwich. We absolutely loved the bread and everything on the sandwich was super fresh and tasted great. Very generous portions and we were both super full after! Really recommend this place.

One of the best restaurants you may ever pass . Sourdough is the main in all dishes like pizza and sandwiches . Sourdough bread is one of the tasty. Recommended 10/10 / will be back .

Carb-central in Culver. It’s a great brunch. Came here on a Sunday around 11:30am and there was a short line but it moved fairly quickly. You order at th counter first, get a number, and then seat yourselves at one of the indoor or outdoor patio tables. Street parking. They do have breads for you to take home as well.
We split a Breakfast Sammie (your choice of sausage or bacon and your choice of egg) and a ricotta and jam toast. The sandwich was super filling and quite a mouthful. The ricotta was fluffy and the strawberry jam was very fresh (they have jams for sale inside as well). We also got a chocolate miso cookie (a pretty standard cookie) as well as a cinnamon roll. For $7, you get a cinnamon roll the size of your head (and that’s not an understatement). The waiters were very nice and the vibes were relaxed. Overall, a cool spot to eat lots of freshly baked bread.

ordered pepperoni and wild mushroom full proof pizza - they definitely reminded us of new york-style pizza less the oil and add artisany crust. the pepperoni was really good ; it had the perfect amount of pepperoni , cheese and sauce. while the wild mushroom was also good, i wish it had a little bit more flavor to it. you can taste the quality of mushroom and cheese, however, for me, the mushroom needed a little more help.
we will definitely come back to try other flavors. i was happy to see that the flavors are different from other places and more vegetable-focused.

Always just picked up bread here but omg… decided to do a late lunch and the pizza…
We got the spinach and ricotta and I’ve got to say I think this is the best pie I’ve had for a while! (I used to date an Italian chef and we traveled all over for pizza…) I think it’s fair to say lodge has some damn good pizza.
I especially loved the crust and I’m not a crust girl! It had the right amount of crunch and wasn’t soggy- so think thin crust flat bread Hahaa
Anyway. Just do it😅
Meg Reppart
Amazing place. Yummy sandwiches, yummy bread. Haven't tried the pizza yet, but pretty sure it's really good.
People working there is so nice. I love going there!!

Great breakfast place 😋 with lots of bread selections 😳! I didn’t take photos 📷 of all the different types of bread 🥖 🍞 🥯. But after my friend and I had breakfast, I bought one baguette 🥖 since I was already there 🤷♀️. I have to admit that $7 for a baguette 🥖 was kind of pricey.
For breakfast, we both ordered the avocado toast 🥑 🍞 with eggs 🍳, which was really delicious 😋! Our toast looked too pretty 😍 to eat! My friend got the cappuccino ☕️ and I got the matcha 🍵 🙂!
I liked how this place has nice outdoor seating and heat lamps 🔥 (which helped on a slightly chilly 🥶 day like this particular Saturday). There is only street parking as well. But if you come pretty early, you can still find free or metered parking around the area.
The food is kind of overpriced for what you get. But we wouldn’t mind coming back just to try the salmon toast 🍣 🍞 and their pizzas 🍕 😋!

We got 2 shakshukas, mimosa and chai latte. Shakshuka came with three generous slices of bread which was nice. However shakshuka itself was overwhelmingly sweet for some reason, and mine had a rather large eggshell in it. Service was fast but waitress didn’t know wifi password “at the moment”, and never bothered to come back to update on it or check on us. Would probably give it another chance when in the area, but so far it wasn’t a great experience.

This review is long overdue. I've been here many many times. I've visited their farmers market booths in Torrance and Beverly Hills as well. I really want to give this place a five, but if I'm honest with myself I think it's an overall four. I love their bread philosophy, and the way they approach making their breads and pastries. Great integrity. I'm such a big fan of whole grains and naturally leavened bakes. Many of their baked goods are naturally leavened with sourdough! This is very unusual to come by.
Things I’ve tried…
Breads: Baguette, Country, Whole Wheat (100%), Seeded, Olive with Herbs and Citrus, Whole Wheat Cranberry Walnut (special loaf of the day), Pomodoro Focaccia
Pastries: Almond Croissant, Pain Au Chocolat, Seasonal Fruit Danish (pear, berries), Cinnamon Roll, Citrus Poppy Scone
Food menu items: Almond butter toast, Seasonal Jam Toast, Margherita Pizza (on two different occasions; they changed their pizzas recently)
BREAD
The first time I tried their bread I was so impressed. Having tried so many excellent bakes in the SF Bay Area, my standards are set quite high. I was so excited to find a place that would satisfy my desire for excellent bread.
I'd like to give a special mention of their 100% Whole Wheat. They seriously do this so well. It's very difficult to come across a truly great 100% whole wheat. I love the high hydration, open and custardy crumb, complex but light flavor. Highly recommend especially if you love your whole grains. Tartine does a lovely whole wheat, but it's not 100% whole wheat (again hard to come by). You probably won't find a better one in the vicinity.
Two slightly less impressionable bread items were the Olive (with herbs and citrus) and Pomodoro Focaccia.
Olive loaf - Unfortunately, I ended up having to throw out portions of the bread because the exterior was just too hard (the loaf I had was also a tad flat). The coarse, very hard polenta meal coating the exterior honestly made it difficult to teeth the bread. Felt hesitant to continue eating it out of concern for the teeth - a suboptimal eating experience.
I absolutely love focaccias. I will never forget the ones I've had in Europe (still the best). And I've really enjoyed Liguria Bakery up in SF. I especially like tomato or tomato sauce based varieties. Here the focaccias are made with sourdough which is not typical but something I'm all for. They rotate flavors, and of course I waited to try their Pomodoro Focaccia (with kalamata olives and arugula) with great anticipation. The focaccia base itself was pretty good but the pomodoro sauce was not my favorite; it was too salt-forward and lacking the tomato-y sweetness of a great pomodoro sauce that I've tried at other places. The olives really amplified the saltiness.
PASTRIES
Overall good but not amazing. I absolutely love how generous they are with their ingredients, which is reflected in the sheer sizes of their pastries and the chock full of ingredients they incorporate into their bakery items. Second to bread is my love for viennoiseries. The fact that the ones here were naturally leavened caught my appeal. Also, the croissant varieties are made with whole grain which is amazing. The almond croissant was huge and beautiful, but the inside was definitely doughy and dense; please see photo. Felt like eating a doughy pie crust. I still enjoyed it though.. In contrast, the chocolate croissant was a lot better. In general both did have flaky layers but tended to be thicker which I wasn't used to. But considering they used whole grain still impressive nonetheless.
I still love this place, but more times than not, I actually found myself being just slightly disappointed with most of their items. Maybe I am too picky. I will definitely continue to come because I still need to try their Jerusalem bagel, challah, rye bread, pita sandwich, and more. I think my top picks here so far is definitely the whole wheat, baguette, and country loaves; maybe the chocolate croissant or fruit Danish (one time it was excellent, one time it was overbaked).

We went both times late afternoon and a lot of the pastries were sold out, but what we did end up snagging was delicious. The main dishes were also solid. The avocado toast is LOADED with avocado so actually a great item to share.

Third time eating here. Each time I have the same order of reactions which is: (i) excitement because of the positive reviews followed by (ii) letdown of the actual experience.
The bread is decent but features over prominently in the restaurant’s food. For example, pizzas have little by way of topping but lots and lots of crust. Sammies are okay but once more the bread dominates and the other ingredients are subpar.
In terms of ambience the restaurant has little to offer as tables are next to the road. The staff is efficient but each time I’ve been there niceties are clearly or secondary or tertiary priority of the staff. In other words—staff does not care much about going out of their way to be friendly.
All in all wish this place the best. I don’t see what others see in it and am okay with this third visit today being our last.
Brittany
The food was so delicious. The shakshuka was a real stand-out, with some of the greatest sauce I've tasted in that dish and served with crusty seeded bread. We also had avocado toast and roasted romesco--both were also tasty
Cigal Shaham
The pizza was amazing - the dough perfect. I was disappointed at the lack of tomato sauce on the potato & leek, and spinach & ricotta pizzas, although they were delicious.
The hummus was creamy, perfect texture and balance with tahina. The Jerusalem bagel is the same shape and texture you get from bread in the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem, but with a more whole wheat taste. The Vegan Cesar salad was actually my favorite part - the nutritional yeast somehow made it taste cheesey.
We took the cinnamon roll home and ate it the next day. It's like a third of a loaf of bread, which we sliced in 5 and toasted, then topped with the buttery, sweet, but not overly sweet, icing. Superb. The try guys were right.
My only disappointment was that we came for dinner expecting the whole menu, and they only had pizzas and salads in the evening, no Shakshuka or Sammies, which I had wanted to try.
They have 9 large picnic tables along the sidewalk and a bunch of 2-tops right outside the front doors for people to eat there. Even though we were at the furthest table outside, the staff was attentive and great.
Sofie Khan
Highly recommend the pizza! Looking forward to coming back to try the breakfast sandwiches, they looked SO DAMN good!! Almost bought the dough but I don't trust my pizza-making skills yet.
David Trovato
Finally made it here for the brekkie sandos we heard about. Everything very fresh, solid flavors and lovely environment. Staff was busy yet attentive. Will be back to try the pizza and shakshuka.
Sharly Rungkat
I’m in search for the best croissant. Bought plain croissants, jam and decaf cappuccino. Unfortunately the croissant was bready and not flaky at all. Decent taste but no buttery taste at all. The picture looked good but it’s only average. Jam was watery. Decaf cappuccino was average. Won’t come back if I’m looking for a croissant fix.

Horrendous shakshuka. By far the worst I’ve ever had. But atmosphere is great so still 5 stars.
Also whose idea was it to use bread with olives inside? That’s perhaps the worst business idea I’ve ever seen - Ruining a classical dish.
Instead keep it simplistic and improve the quality. They have insane bread but lower their potential due to dumb ideas to try to make it better 😑😑.
The flavor was nothin. Like shakshuka.
Simplicity !!! U peasants

Fun, modern place. Bread was fresh and chewy. Kids liked the avocado toast. Was in the area while charging the tesla.

i go here every weekend, the fat pita and almond croissant are my partner & i’s go to. their pizza is fab and honestly everything here is amazing
Clau A.
The staff is very friendly, corteous and expedite. The food is A-MA-ZING! Not just gorgeous presentation, but so rich and flavorfully! A friend of mine mentioned she felt like she was eating a(n almond) croissant at a French patisserie, it was THAT good for her! The plants they used as decor give it a fresh and cool aspect, a bit industrial looking, but somehow still home-y and comfortable, inviting. Their BLT recommended!! The only thing that I find challenging... Parking. All else is great!
Giovanni Pascarella
Absolutely delicious food, lovely people, full stop. I had the toasted bread with ricotta cheese and jam (and will go back tomorrow for another one) and the fish plate. Both were outstanding but what makes them perfect is, really, the amazing bread. Just, go.
Alex Yu
We had the spicy sausage pizza (which was actually spicy), mushroom pizza, and cinnamon roll. The serving sizes are massive just a heads up. I had a chocolate croissant to go which was also massive. I liked the bread, but it isn't *amazing*. I liked how the staff were willing to sell a sliced loaf & bring it to the table with the entrees. Excellent service despite the growing line. A decent competitor to Tartine, Clark Street, Gjusta, and Bub & Grandma's
Stefanie Potgieter
This place used to be incredible. Founded by a couple guys who love baking bread it started with some incredibly fresh bakes. As they've expanded the quality has gone down and over the years the quality goes down with each visit. The last time we had their food we were left really disappointed. We bought a couple breakfast sandwiches for delivery and when they arrived, i was shocked. They were the size of sliders instead of the big hamburger size bread buns we were used to. When we called to tell them we were told that there was problems with the proofing. Being familiar with baking I totally understand how that can happen, but there was no reason why we shouldn't have been given two instead of one. I was told to order a replacement and when I did they told me they would refund it. I ordered 3 to replace the 2 expecting them to be more of the smaller ones. They actually sent different, proper buns and only refunded us for two.
Mr. Tom!
Amazing bread! Amazing food, the fish plate is my favorite. Friendly and attentive service. Granted, it is not cheap. We were five people and breakfast cost us $150.
Pierre Espenan
Parking is a pain but the wait is worth it. I have baked sourdough myself so I am aware of the work involved: a culture proof, a dough proof and a loaf proofin all, 24 to 36 hours work. I have eaten the best at Boudin in San Francisco. This is the best whole grain sourdough in Southern California. It may be the only whole grain sourdough in Southern California as I rarely see La Brea bakery sourdough in Pavilions and Panera only makes white sourdough.
Igor Kalitventsev
Amazing bread - one of the best in town, pizza was and the sandwiches are ok and do not recommend a tuna salad. Nice outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.
Paul You
A good piece of bread always makes my day. I used to live in Turkey, and one of the things I missed most was freshly baked bread. Not the bread you buy in stores that last on the shelf for a couple of weeks. Lodge’s bread reminded me of that good stuff. Their loaves are hearty and full of nutty flavor. I could eat a whole loaf with a stick of butter for a day’s worth of meals. They have some great seasonal pastries too, like the peach bread pudding cake. My goodness. They’re a little on the pricier end, but def worth splurging on every once in a while!
Sarat Varghese
Amazing breakfast and lunch spot! Fresh bread products obviously but great combinations of fresh vegetables and protein options.
You can't go wrong with any of the toast options.
Blueberry ricotta is balanced perfectly
Highly recommended vanilla latte and cinnamon roll as well but the roll is HUGE so save room or plan to split it with friends. Would definitely go out of my way to come here, service is great and quick and they are all knowledgeable of the menu.
Good for small groups, not somewhere you want to take large groups and parking is street parking only.
Geno Villafano
Some of the best pizza I have ever tasted. Unbelievable service from passionate folk that understand and love what they do. Well maintained seating that is distributive and comfortable allowing scenes from the kitchen and pizza oven. The food is cared for and undoubtedly some of the best preparations possible to showcase the wonderful bread and dough being made here. This should be a daily stop for anyone in the area.
Kokei Otosi
Wonderful pastry and meal options. Their baked goods are truly so, so tasty. A pleasant surprise: their smoked fish plate!
Julie Akemann
Amazing bread!!!! Had the avocado toast and it was incredible! Service was excellent and super fast! They have a nice group of picnic sidewalk tables to enjoy. Pro-tip: If you’re looking to get full loaves of bread, definitely pre-order so they have what you want!
Taylor M.
Love this restaurant! Delicious options for breakfast and lunch. They also have a really nice patio. Great place to grab a meal, or even just stop by for a drink. (Their cinnamon “buns” and miso cookies are phenomenal!)
Tonette Queri
Great bakery place to start the day! Known for their artisinal breads and pastries their coffee was great too. Their breakfast/brunch items may be limited but the portion and taste make up for it! My aunt brought me here after picking me up from the airport. It was a nice place to start the day. No lines or waiting (early weekday) but busy place. The crew was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to comeback to this place to try their sandwiches and humongous buns👌😋😋😋

I have to update my list of favorite LA brunch now. Sort of intuitively, upon entering the space, one knows that this is a place devoted to making great food, not pursuing other secondary goals such as a facade of popularity. I agonized over the choices between the Ricotta and Jam Toast and the Fat Pita Sandwich - turned out zero regret about deciding on the second one. Needless to say, the pita was superb - soft and fluffy; the roasted romanesco stuffed inside was also fabulous; and the hummus was the killer - with a silky / creamy texture & just indescribably tasty! Meanwhile, no one goes home without carrying a bag of bread - the raison d'etre of a bakery!
P.S. I was lucky to find a parking spot in the neighborhood to the back of the restaurant right away, but street parking is always difficult. And on weekends the place could be packed with all tables occupied (nevertheless no crazy long line for sure).
Daniel Young
This place is one of the shining lights of Mar Vista. Yes the bread is expensive, but from experience, sourdough is extremely labor intensive to make and their loaves come out perfect.
My girlfriend and I came for brunch. We weren't super hungry, so we ordered the avocado toast and a cinnamon bun. If you ever come here YOU HAVE TO GET THE CINNAMON BUN. It's massive and is only $6. The cream is super light and airy as is the actually dough they make it with. The avocado toast was creamy and delicious. The bread was some sort of sweet grain bread that paired very nice with the avocado. Would recommend.
I will definitely make the trip out west to return, and maybe learn to bake some bread with the classes they offer. Great business to support 👍.
Amy DiCarlo
Lodge Bread was my favourite bakery that we went to on our holiday. I saw them on Worth It, and just had to try their bread. Of course being in LA we ordered their avocado toast. It was simple and beautiful. It was topped with vibrant radish slices and olive oil. We also had a glass of their raspberry shrub, which was super refreshing. If the weather is nice, eat outside. They have a lot of plants and you feel like you are in an oasis. They also have another location, where you can take bread classes.
Check this place out!!
Mariana Muntean
This place is amazing: Delicious pizza, Italian open stove, great coffee, great working people!
Two downsides: no parking and no WiFi, but hey, maybe that’s actually good for our mental and body health, eh?
Artem Moshkovich
Top-notch eatery in Culver City, one that rose in a reinvigorated form after a recent renovation. The best-in-class breads are to be expected, but what really impresses are the quality dishes produced in the kitchen. Though some veer a bit too sharply in a certain flavor direction—for example, bitter vegetables or slightly too salty hummus—most are compelling and well-balanced. The toasts are top-notch, and the espresso shots are expertly delivered. To boot, they offer a robust array of pastries and desserts. You can't go wrong with this unique eatery on Washington Blvd!
gerry furth
The staff is friendly, especially on the phone from the time they first opened, and in the somewhat chaotic and usually packed place even after they expanded to two storefronts. The bread is absolutely the finest quality anywhere, under $10, and still warm when you buy it. Only a few metered parking places out front. The cinnamon rolls are unexpected and heavenly, thoughtfully packed in brown boxes; perfect for gifts.
James Nikraftar
Delicious fresh breads and pastries served in a unique and delightful setting. I highly recommend the croissants and the jumbo cinnamon roll. Excited to go back!
Elizabeth Burgi
The bread here is phenomenal. My favorite is the olive bread.
Rebecca N
Delicious fresh options for bread, beverages and entree. Cozy bakery with patio. Nice for brunch or coffee. Zucchini walnut loaf delicious! Will drop by again and recommend.
Danté Vincent
We’ve been in town for four days and have already come here twice - it’s just that good. Great coffee and pastries, a phenomenal small menu and the cinnamon toast is delicious! Can’t wait to come back again to try this hummus and pizzas. Plus, they also have their own homemade kombuchas. Definitely recommend!
Mike Yee
Here the bread is always the star, but don't look past the fresh produce that accompanies the delicious dough. This grandma slice with nothing but the marinara sauce is so good I could bag some, toss it with some cheap pasta and earn a Michelin star. The fruit bun is, in reality, the dessert pizza that's come to town to kick Nutella pizza off it's high horse. 2019, in with the fresh, out with the rest.
Sidebar: the hummus and regular pizza menu still bangs 💥
Feras Abutaha
Okay! This place is badass! Highly recommend everything on the menu! We tried the Avocado Toast, Ricotta and Jam Toast, and the most amazing hummus with fresh pita!
Sam Williams
Employees were really friendly! Place had a cool vibe. The avo toast was yummy! Water was served in mason jars which is always fun!
Brennan Russo
One of the best kept secrets in LA. One of the best brunch spots in LA and also one of the best pizza spots in the city! Come and enjoy a great meal amongst some low key vibes
Maggie
Been here for breakfast a couple of times and plan to return to try their pizza. Food is delicious and staff is so friendly!
Jackie Grummel
The vibe, exquisite. The shakshuka, phenomenal. Latte, spot on. I really have nothing more to say than this place is a winner. Super delicious, awesome staff. I will for sure be back many many times to come.
Zachary Schmidt
Just a fantastic place with some truly incredible food. The location is small, but I have never had a problem getting a seat in the three times I have been here. (It could happen though). Parking is spare and spills over into the neighborhood next to it. The prices are on the high side, but it’s worth it for the quality.
Daniel Zhou
So good. Intimate place with really good food that’s carbs. Pizzas, sandwiches, bread, pastries. Staff are all super friendly and service is quick.
Glauco Marinho
Just wanted a late night coffee while wait for my car to charge next door. Got a cold brew latte-style and it was great. Really tasty coffee.
Didn't try any of the savory foods or pizza, but the one I saw on other tables looked amazing. Definitely will try next time.
Service was on point. Everyone very polite and helpful. Overall a great experience. Keep it up!
Maria Sauval
This place is so good! Good service and food. I recommend the sourdough bread with herbs. Next time we’ll try the pizza.

Great atmosphere with good food. We ordered their pizza and it was amazing! We also got some bread and it was also really fresh and really good. Great place to go grab a quick bite, or to sit down and relax. The staff is also really nice and friendly.
Carlos F Vilchez
Haven’t eaten here since I’m not eating gluten anymore but they sure do look really good! 😃 …
deborah kaufman
I love brunch at Lodge more than any other spot in Los Angeles.
Dog watching here is the best and their shakshuka is my favorite. This was my first time getting pizza, and holy moly, it is impressive!
Their customer service is exceptionally excellent. I love them!
James Talbot
Fantastic bread. Best in LA? Very possibly. It's not often I am amazed by bread, but Lodge has done it. We loved the Seeded Country loaf and the California 100% loaf. Simply amazing. The pizza is excellent. We loved the margarita pizza. The pastries were also impressive, especially the bread pudding. We'll be back again and again.
Neil Taing
I ordered the pizza online and added some particular requests that I did not know how to specify otherwise on the site. Almost as soon as I put the order in, David gave me a call and assured me he would take care of it and did it in a manner that exceeded expectations. When I picked up my order, Andy and David were very warm and friendly and demonstrated excellent customer service that is rare to find. I have nothing but nice things to say about this place. The food is great and the people are exceptional.
Bianca Balderrama
The mushroom pizza was sooo good! All fresh, delicious, quality ingredients. We also ordered the chopped salad, so fresh! I was here for lunch and had to come back the next day for more- turkey sandwich had an inch of meat and the cinnamon roll was a whole loaf! Instantly a new favorite, I just can get enough!
Tyler Baker
Cheese pizza add basil. Chewy dough, crispy and thin with no flop, good sauce and great cheese
Ezequiel Alba
Everyone else that put less than a 5 star rating they clearly don't have an idea on how good this place is. If you are still undecided about coming, I'll tell you something, this place is legit good. The quality of the ingredients on every bread, pizza or food plates is top.
Robert M
I hadn't been here since before the pandemic, and I had forgotten what a great resource this is for my neighborhood. I had the leek and potato pizza, which was really delicious. Nicely spicy and very flavorful, with a crunchy crust edge from the very hot oven. We also shared a prosciutto and Parmesan pizza which was every bit as good. They do know how to make crust here! We were there close to closing time, and they were nice enough to give us a complimentary piece of loaf cake from the bakery counter. Not only was it a nice gesture, but it underscores that what they sell to the public is freshly made the same day.

Lodge Bread Company has the best sourdough bread! Their breakfast is super delicious and their service is amazing!
Will definitely be going back

This place... I can't say enough good things. They make all the dough and bread here, from scratch. You can even watch them do it depending on where in the restaurant you sit!
The first time I came I ordered a pan pizza. It was easily one of the most delicious pizzas I've ever had, from the crust to the robust flavor profiles of the each and veggies. Recently I’ve been into the shakshuka and avocado toast, pictured below. Their coffees are also A+!
Taylor Walsh
This is my go-to lunch spot on Sundays. Parking is sparse, but the food is worth it. The chopped salad with chicken is hearty and delicious. The sandwiches are stacked & can easily be shared between two people.
Andrew Lin
Pricey. Turkey sandwich was not very flavorful. I want to enjoy the bread but there's so much turkey. Breakfast sandwich is quite tasty though. And their homemade hot sauce is quite hot. Nice ambience with the outdoor seating.
David Ryzewski
If I had to choose a favorite place to eat at LA, Lodge Bread Company would be my choice. They have interesting and delicious food, insanely great bread, and fantastic coffee. Lodge has a cozy atmosphere that's great for hanging out and having lunch in. It does get busy around noon and the weekends but usually it's nice and fairly quiet. I love the shakshuka and the turkey, lettuce, and tomato sandwich! All of their bread choices are amazing too.
The only issue is parking sometimes since it's all street parking. There's a couple of spots out front with cheap meters that accept credit cards. There's also spots further down the street and across the street too.
Joseph Getz
The bread is delicious and fresh made.
We also purchased a cinnamon roll to take home. While tasty, if you’re expecting a traditional cinnamon roll, look else where. This version is more bready and less gooey than most (also gigantic)
Richard G
My go-to for sourdough bread on the west-side. Multiple bread choices. Great menu items. Sandwiches. Wine. All great
Crystal Lopez
Always friendly service and delicious eats!!! The Hummus and Pita Bread with a Beer during happy hour is perfect. Morning Coffee ($1 extra for almond milk) is well accompanied with a delicious Macha Chocolate Chip Cookie, which in my opinion is the best 👏🏼 damn 👏🏼 cookie 👏🏼 Anywhere!!!! …
Kristina Lacks
Went to the farmer‘s market branch this morning and got their big pain au chocolat croissant. Soooo good! Well worth the price! The nice guy at the stand just gave us a bread to try! Awesome experience, everything looks so yummy! Thumbs up!!
Duncan Blount
Hands down the best avocado toast in LA. Probably the world. Avocado toast IS the symbolic representation of LA, with enough artistic liberties.
And this place has them.
Rebecca Zhang
Always always always the best place to get sourdough. My favorite is the ancient grain, very dense flavor and great on its own or as toast for breakfast. The place is usually a bit busy with people coming for brunch. But staffs are very friendly and welcoming atmosphere
Nathan Philipp
If you have the chance to sit down, do it! The pizza is fresh made to order and you can get two completely different flavors on your pizza if you order a large size. The rotating draft beers are also worth revisiting each time. I enjoyed the Brooklyn Lager paired with a piping hot margherita pizza. The brew and food came out quickly for being made to order and the outdoor seating along the sidewalk had shaded areas for enjoying the fresh air without getting overheated. I’ll definitely be back!
Mohammad محمد Ashori
Best 100% whole wheat bread I've ever purchased. Tastes so good. I cut it up and put it in the freezer - it's great for over a month out. Just heat it up. We did avocado toast with it and made tofu sandwiches - amazing. I haven't eaten here but seems like a happening place with a lot of street parking for free and lot of outdoor seating. Can get a little loco but the pizzas look great.
Aresh Ghiassi
Wonderful bakery with fantastic breads. Counter order they will bring your food to your seat number. Everything tried was delicious. You can easily see they care about their food.
Andrew Harris
Such a good spot. Well worth the wait if there is one. Get there EARLY for cinnamon rolls
Grant Jack
Fantastic spot with amazing pizza, toasts and um....BREAD!!! The food is great, the atmosphere is nice and quiet and the coffee is killer!
Joan H
I regret not trying the cinnamon roll, might have to go back for that. The chop salad was excellent, roasted turkey sandwich with fontina good. Sandwiches were $15-19 while pizzas were $18-28. Patio seating available, would try other sandwiches next time. We shared so it wasn’t problem, but we were done with salad and sandwich before pizza arrived to table.
Heidi Seo
A nostalgic and cozy neighborhood cornerstone for locals and visitors. I used to order their to-go pizza doughs during lockdown to bake homemade pizzas at home.
David Ganske
Lodge is a great go to for classics done right. The portions are solid and use their amazing bread as the foundation.
Benoit Valdes
I ordered a ricotta jam toat, I thought it was a ricotta HAM toast. When it comes to my table I was a bit disappointed. The server kindly purpose me to switch the meal, but as it was my mistake I took it. 2 minutes after, he came back with 3 slices of ham ❤️
If I could have add 1 extra star for his kindness I would have done it.
PS: the JAM was amazing too
Graham Berry
Food is great. Portions on drinks are deceptive. Ordered an arnold palmer being told it was 16oz. Got a 6oz shot.
Gabriella
The best everything bread related- truly a special spot. Also tasty pizza with the best crust
Lyric Kaplan
Delicious bread coffee and hummus. There is limited seating if you come when it’s busy there may be a wait.
Urricane Re
Great place!
Food fresh and good. No strange cream or artificial flavor. No plastic bottles, no plastic glass, no plastic plates.
Not a wonderful coffee ;-) but you know … I’m Italian.
al monster
Great bread and pastries. A bit expensive.
michael desbarres
Awesome bakery, sandwich, and pizza shop! Top notch and yet down to Earth. Great service. Stop in for lunch or to pick up some goodies for those you love and you won't be disappointed. The Fat Pita (vegan) is amazing, as are the turkey sandwich and the jamon. Cool selection of unique beverages too. Order inside at the counter and then enjoy their outdoor seating with service.
Andrea Powell
The Best baked bakery in town. Fast service. Real European style bread.
İshak Şimşek
I tried Shakshuka. It’s very delicious.
Silvia Ardila-Jimenez
The bread is good. I like the olive and herb loaf and the Baguette. I haven't ordered an item on the menu I didn't enjoy and highly recommend the fat pita. You can also buy wine, sourdough starter, hummus, butter, and fresh avocados and lemons depending on the season.
The staff are helpful and welcoming. It is always a pleasure to come here from getting a coffee to a full sit down meal. I would recommend you try it.
The pastries are flakey and delicious.
Kayley Moore
This place makes delicious breads in all varieties!
Great for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
The avocado toast was delish, prices are reasonable, and coffee ain't bad either!
Abu David S. Purdom
Amazing take on cinnamon roll. Not too sweet citrus cake. Can't wait to try the pizza ; overall great bakery.
Vincent Dy
Really really good bread!
Their sourdough croissant is amazing!
Pravin Prakash
We thoroughly enjoyed the food here. Had been looking out for some amazing breads in Los Angeles, and I think we have found it here.
Went for brunch, and got the vegetarian pita sandwich, sausage Focaccia, and coffee. Everything was good. The pita sandwich was likely the best I've had - it's massive and looked healthy and tastes yummy. Their Focaccia is very good too. Soft and chewy but with some heft to it. And the coffee they brew is fantastic (I believe it's the De La Paz).
The whole place reminded us of Arizmendi in San Francisco.
You wait in line to order, which can be a slow process sometimes depending on the crowd, so be prepared. Plenty of outdoor seating.
Alex Kob
Great breakfast spot. Delicious coffee, freshly baked bread, very friendly service. Shakshuka here is something incredibly tasty, I highly recommend it.
George Schuette
My wife and I had a very pleasant lunch here. We shared a chopped salad with tuna and a pizza with spinach and fontina cheese. The salad was great. The pizza was okay but a little bland. We ate at a picnic table on the sidewalk. Indoor dining was also available. Service was very good. This place also bakes great bread. We picked up a great loaf of whole wheat.
Jonathan Liu
Bread on Sandwich was delicious. Pizza was over burnt.
Brett C
So far I've only tried the sourdough cinnamon rolls, but MAN are they good! And holy hell are they humongous! I want to come back and try the bread ... and the pizza ... and all kinds of things my cardiologist would discourage me from eating! Come give this place a try--I'll definitely be back!
Emily Wu
The loaf cakes here are so yummy. I got the vegan salad and my boyfriend got the focaccia, we also got the citrus and carrot loaf slices, everything was great and the employees there are so nice too. A bit on the pricier side but might go back to see what the hype around the pizza is about
Dani Roz
Amazing french pastry, no frills vibe that can fit to just a relaxed lunch. They do serve meat and poultry, but most of the selection is not the vegetarian side.
The capuchino is delicious!!! I love their combination of milk and espresso and their proficiency in shipping the milk.
Don't forget the no handle glass cup, this is really perfect.
The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, quite a special experience for me in LA.
Christine Dong
I had the ham and cheese croissant and it was flaky, buttery, and so tasty. So while charging our Thorgy, next door we had a nice break on our road trip :) Oh, and food is cheaper in southern California and just as tasty as it is in the Bay area.
Kindred Cosmetics
If you like sweet rolls this is your place..
Breakfast sandwich, bacon, amazing cheese and eggs... Too die for... I don't think there's a bad thing in the house!
Alex Belzer
One of my favorite spots in LA. Their bread is next level, and now I'm spoiled to the point I refuse to eat any other kind of bread. Their focaccia is just so good.
Kevin Ganesh
Great woodfire pizza and chocolate chip cookie. Pizza can is very thin and so gets sogged quick. Still good though. Fast service. Bakery runs out of items early.
Alenka Kyslik
Obsessed, I tell everyone about the bread here. It's my comfort food and I often eat it on its own it's so good.
Jessica Castillo
Such a wonderful business full of amazing employees! Their products are high quality. They bake their bread fresh every single morning. Their employees are always super friendly, and go above and beyond to create a memorable experience. Everyone always has a smile on their face❤ Bonus that they offer a few vegan products!
Nick Thorsch
The shakshuka is surprisingly sweet and good. It’s good for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with tomato 🍅, egg 🥚 and bread 🥖
The bread would be better buttered 🧈 and I wish the orange 🍊 juice 🧃 were bigger 😊
Art Warren
If you like awesome baked goods this is your place. Breads, especially the seeded country loaf are great and those morning buns wow. Pizza after 5:00pm- Full Proof Pizza, naturally leveled NY style pies are fantastic.
Teddy Ward
The cinnamon roll is straight up large. Covered with cream instead of frosting. Also tried the avocado toast, shakshuka (sp?), and hummus - all great with great portion sizes!
Tony Flores
So we stopped at this place because we thought it was going to have a lot of good selection. But we end up just using the bathroom because the name kind of lies to you is not really a bread company. It's like a deadly style type of place. The place was clean that's why I'm giving it four stars but I didn't try their food.
Mimimi Leigh
I mean. It's been a long time since the food and the service were impeccable. I had the breakfast sammie which was delicious; and the elderberry juice. I also had a slice of my friends cinnamon sugar (big enough to feed 4) and that was great too. Highly recommend!
Devorah Hill
Lodge Bread is a little slice of heaven. The food is divine. The "Fish Plate" makes a wonderful lunch for two. The "Cinnamon Roll" is enough dessert for several people. If you are a bread lover they have a loaf for you. If you are ambitious, you can buy a "Sourdough Starter" with instructions and make your own. Go already.
David Childs
I come for the pita and sometimes treat myself to a pastry. Nico is among the friendliest of Los Angeles servers.
Kevin Rygg
The food was fantastic. It had real spirit and flavor and was overall phenomenal. The atmosphere was really homey and the staff down to earth.
Erin Dollar
Delicious sandwiches, pizzas, and pastries!
Stephen Mignone
It was ok, I expected more variety of breakfast items. Although there was so much bacon on my Sammie, it was all under cooked and drenched in oil.
Gave this 3 stars because my spouse enjoyed it. I would not come back.
Julie Lee
always high quality of bread. also excellent pizza.
Tom Thompson
killer bread and other food as well. Always got the best jams on the speakers Heynow!
Greg Moore
Nice place. Fast friendly service. They're known for their pastries and in house made bread. I had a monkey bread muffin that was excellent.
D MOORE
Los Angeles best Turkey sandwich ever !
Jon
Top notch bread and great shakshuka. Their veggie pita is also delicious if you’re vegan.
Caleb
The Fat Pita is my go-to for lunch, which surprises no one more than I considering I never go for vegetarian or vegan options ever. It's just so damn delicious. I should also mention that their pizza is the best I've had in Los Angeles.
bethlehem tsehayu
The bread tasts and smells Delicious! Hard and toasty. So I have tried the whole wheat. Unfortunately it is pricy $12 a loaf.
But then it is a big loaf.
Hubert Chang
Bomb, filling food here. The price is reasonable I think for the quality. The shakousha is a lil spicy but so tasty. I only ate bit because I was too full from the pastrami sandwich I had. The pastrami was served open on a thicky thick piece of sourdough with swiss cheese melted all on top of it. Of course they had that bomb Russian dressing and they even give extra dressing upon request! As far as pastrami goes it was good but not great, but with the bread and melted cheese it was a great dish. We also got bread with an ol' Alps sized amount of ricotta cheese spread on top with a lake of blueberry jam in the middle. Their bread is for sure one of my favorites in LA. Parking can be tough as the street parking fills up quick. There's is a lot of street parking available though. I'll be back up in this again.
Edith Chau
Delicious pizza dough. I buy some to take home and cook too. Also love their pita salad and sourdough. Baked sweet goods are solid but not out of the world. It's pricey here but it's worth it!
Deb Floyd
I work across the street from here and absolutely everything is delicious! You will not be disappointed, not only in the food but the service is remarkable. As someone who works in the service industry I can be critical of customer service but I was blown away by how nice and helpful everyone was. Hopefully you're lucky enough to be helped by Nikko who was particularly outstanding. Don't hesitate to make this place a regular hangout and order everything on the menu!
Amy KCkid
*3/24/17 Update!: Went in for the first time since they remodeled. Bigger space with indoor and outdoor seating now. Slightly expanded menu and everything looks so good. Good coffee and nice staff. Only complaint: it was 11am and the music was blaring. Save that for the late night dinner crowd, maybe.*
My first time in. Had the nut butter + date syrup toast and drip coffee. Toast was excellent. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen (which is in full view) looked amazing- I can't wait to try the other toasts and pastries. Deducted one star because the coffee wasn't great and no raw sugar for it. But I will definitely be back and perhaps try a latte next time.
Judy Mercer
Just bought a cinnamon roll for my neighbor’s birthday. He has been on a mission looking for the best cinnamon roll ever and we found it at Lodge Bread. He loves it!! Mission complete! And kudos to a very helpful and friendly staff.
Wen-Chia Parker
Nice rustic bread great coffee pastries and breakfast, good local place to grab a bite!
Michael Livezey
What else can’t be said aside from they have the BEST BREAD!!! But seriously, their bread is hands down the best we’ve had at any local bakeries. The toast with ricotta and seasonal jam is amazing and you can’t pass up their enormous cinnamon buns! Haven’t had their pizzas yet, but if they’re anything near as good as their other bread, the crust and toppings are sure to be a delight!
Carmel Lankford
I cant believe the love, time, and the quality of produce , Fantastic avocado toast
Angelina Harper (Angie)
I went here to meet a couple of college's we got a cheese pizza, Avacado toast and a fish plate. The food was great, but the service was a bit slow. They were very busy and brought the wrong coffee 2 times. Even tho this was a bit annoying, we would come back here again.
Nidhi R Nair
I absolutely love lodge bread and co, the food is great plus the owners OR AMSALAM and ALEXANDER are wonderful people.
Please check this place out
Martin Smith
Very good but expensive. Makes it hard to go low carb.
Michael Tebbe
This review is for the sourdough cinnamon roll. It is really yummy but they should reduce the sugar by 30-50 percent. Less sweet it would taste better and earn a 5 star
Serina Gee
Came here for the infamous bread and happened to grab some of the mushroom focaccia which was so savory and thick. Went back within a week to get it again, but it only comes out after 10:30am. Grabbed a cinnamon roll the second time which was huge and comes with a sizeable tub of cream. I think this place is a new favorite!
Elliott Percival
Love this place! Perfect place to eat any time of the day, and I can thoroughly recommend the ricotta and jam toast!
Ethan Siegler
Great bread, fun vibe, good food
I enjoyed hanging out and having lunch here. The outside patio area is a great setup with some cool, natural wood tables. Their bread was delicious, especially with shakshuka. Their sandwiches looked great (I didn't get to try one), they have beer on tap, and lots of different options. Check it out 😊
Shani Bocian
This is my favorite bakery/cafe in LA - maybe even CA, or the country. The food is always delicious, the bread is superb, the staff is sooooo kind and cool. I take my friends & family who visit here so they can taste what I think is truly California cuisine. Love that their baked goods are kosher so I can bring them to my kosher-observant parents. I'm honestly obsessed and have to stop myself from going here multiple times a week or I'll go broke lol. Wish they had WiFi so I could work from the patio (hey Lodge Bread, will you consider it? I promise to help make up for the cost!)
Jack Galanty
Amazing!
BE THERE EARLY so you don't miss out on the amazing products!
Amazing bread!
Don't miss the GIANT Cinnamon Rolls! BEYOND AMAZING!
Ponka Po
I am love the fish plate and baked eggs here
Peggie Chesser
The food was awesome, but the seating was too cramped.
Nathan Loyer
Breakfast sandwich is hands down super tasty.
I'm not a huge fan of their take home bread (though as of this writing I've only had their crusty breads, will try their Jerusalem bagel)
I've tried their dessert special and almond croissant, both were lacking imo.
Chris O'Connor
Excellent bakery/brunch spot in a casual setting. Sandwich/Bread centric brunch menu and freshly baked loaves available to take home. Tends to get busy early on the weekends (nearly at capacity at 10am on a Sunday). A little pricy for breakfast in a casual spot but the quality is high and portions are substantial.
Eden Jeffries
One of the best places to get local and fresh artisanal breads from heirloom wheat or ancient grains. Seriously good sourdough boules! They also make equally gorgeous and delicious pizzas and pita in-house. Whether you want coffee and pastry or a sit down lunch, they’ve got a lot of palate and visually pleasing items to offer. There isn’t a lot of seating so it can get crowded but I HIGHLY recommend this place for REAL quality ingredients that will not disappoint. The kitchen is open so you can watch everything being made, and the vibe is very rustic and quaint.
Hieu Luong
Great local spot for fresh bread and outdoor patio for our dog!
Jackie Yeap
Great local bakery offering unique choices of baked goods. I went there for their bread but also tried out a few items on the menu. Within our group, we ordered toasts, banana bread, bread pudding, and cinnamon bun.
The banana bread and bread pudding were my favorite. Not overly sweet and good balance to let other flavors shine.
The toasts (we got strawberry jam/butter and blueberry/ricotta) were not bad but nothing too extraordinary. Although, I think the jam was good but the combination was a bit too salty for me.
Cinnamon bun was average but the size of the bun was above average. We ended up having to take this home.
Would go again next time to pick up more bread and try out their pizzas.
Manish Butte
The aroma once you walk in tells you something amazing is about to happen. Friendly staff. Generous slices and portions. Unbelievably delicious. First, the cinnamon swirl comes out like a tender, aromatic chunk of bread the size of your head with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream. The pita and hummus rocks. The hummus has an authentic bitter flavor and has garbanzos mixed in. The pizzas are out of this world, try the innovative pesto and sweet corn. All the beads AND pizza dough are fermented, so may be safe for those minimizing FODMAPs. This is probably the best bakery experience I've ever had. My kids agree. Street parking, not bad, but there's lots of construction nearby.
Michell Kim
Everything is super yummy here! Their bread is amazing. Not just a vehicle for the sandwich stuff. And if you're into toast, GET THEIR ALMOST TOAST. To die for. I was pleasantly surprised at how big their portions were. Definitely made it worth the cost
Louis Pappas
Great neighborhood place, casual vibe, excellent pizza and chopped salad.
Clémentine Liger
Very good sourdough bread, nice job on the fresh products, very nice staff, good ambiance! Best avocado toast in the city
Highly recommended!
Sigi
Freshly baked and created foods with great profiles. I had the egg souffle and it was the right amount of salty and savory. As expected from a bakery the bread was fantastic as well. Service was a bit slow and $15 seemed kind of excessive. The drip coffee wasn't terrible but nothing to write home about.
Robbie Connie
Trendy and expensive for what you get restaurant that serves pizza and sandwiches and baked goods all with their homemade dough. It is the dough that is the draw. Great bite and excellent chew. However my family was mixed on the experience. Half liked the flavors of the food half didn't. All agreed the pizzas were on the small side for the cost with not enough cheese. But their cinnamon bun was giant as was their cauliflower sandwich.
Mary Donovan
Hearty Bread of every sourdough variety.... If you like everything Sourdough. Pizzas are great! Biggest cinnamon bun ever, its for two or four. Self serve place , after you order at the counter in the back corner. Hipsters with attitudes for sure.
David Vahedi
Love this place. They make some of the best bread LA has to offer!!! Their baked goods are also delicious...the giant cinnamon roll, the poppy seed cookie, scones. I hadn't had anything there that I didn't enjoy. I highly recommend.
Ellis Hamburger
The chop salad with smoked turkey and cheese is the best salad in the world
Kathrin Rising
Fantastic breakfast and pizza and bread :) we always have a lovely time and with the new added Tesla charger we’ll be coming back a lot more
Lela Aylin
Puts and hummus are a must. The pitas are thick and warm every time. Incredible pastries and cookies.
I go here weekly to get some bread, eggs and hummus but on occasion have a pizza or salad. They are all really fresh, and worth the $.
Collin Vine
Currently my favourite restaurant in LA. They do quality right. Bread with the fewest ingredients and the utmost taste, it's going to be the best loaf you can buy in the city (imo).
I highly recommend this place and come here regularly for bread and brunch (and sometimes beer).
The vibe is a comfortable hipster vibe. Seat yourself at any open table after you've ordered from the counter. It's very busy especially on weekends so keep that in mind for seating.
Linda Barrios
Tasty but overpriced. Helpful employees, a small outdoor seating area, fresh bakery goods and unique menu items all seemed very promising. I'm having a hard time understanding such high prices. Today we ordered and pre-paid at the counter, got our own water and silverware/napkins and dropped $65 for a single slice + a personal size pizza and 2 small draft beers at lunchtime. Beer selection is somewhat limited, wine is also available though. A great restaurant concept with some nice menu items that just isn't able to pull off the execution to achieve the high-end gastropub feel they originally might have been hoping for. The inside dining area is reminiscent of a fast food/to-go place and felt sterile and uninviting. It didn't have the feel of somewhere that would attract many financially well-off, trendy, foodie-type, repeat customers. My personal opinion is, if people go out and are willing to pay higher prices to enjoy an expensive meal, the neighborhood location and dining environment need to match a customer's expectations a bit more than this place currently does. Menu concept=great, but business execution=poor.
clifton bates
Excellent food great outdoor scenery
farid ahmed
Excellent service and food. A gem in culver city. Highly recommend it. Shakshuka to samy brioche breakfast sandwiche u can't go wrong.
Chidi Bosah
Truly enjoyed my brunch experience at Lodge Bread! My friend and I had never been and wanted to try so much so we got two mint lemonades and three dishes to share. We had the Shakshuka first, then a piece of pan pizza that was topped with veggies, and then because we were so full, we had little pieces of the HUGE cinnamon roll and took the rest home. I just indulged on this left over cinnamon roll for bfast and it was still just fresh and good! Highly highly recommend!
FA Hayek
Got the rye sprout with cured salmon, off the charts delicious.
Rick Jay
Love the bread and staff at this bakery! I removed one star due to the recent change in the size of their loaves. My friend and I (both long-time loyal customers), were disappointed to find that, compared to the way they have always baked them pre-Covid, the weight and size of the two loaves we purchased this week were reduced by more than 25% (much greater than the normal variance) and were significantly flatter, rendering them less useful for sandwich slices, etc. An employee told me this change was made in order to make it easier for customers to slice, but I have never found slicing to be an issue, and producing a flatter loaf (with the same crust thickness) wouldn't affect slicing much anyway. It's totally understandable that a business needs to make difficult cost-cutting decisions in this current environment, but I have to say we felt a little cheated. We both agreed that although these wonderful loaves are already premium-priced, we'd rather pay a temporary additional premium to support this business rather than lose the usefulness of their product we've come to love and rely on. We hope the owners will change back the loaves to the original size and shape.
Heidi Vega Aimonetti
Great bread and food.
This trip, we bought flour (T-85) and sourdough starter and both are good quality.
Fati K
I have enjoyed the bread both times I have been. The first time I went with my husband I did feel our food was a little on the salty side, but still good. This last time I ordered via Grubhub. The pita was delicious, but unlike others that raved about the hummus, I was disappointed. The hummus looked beautiful, but it didn’t have the balance of garlic, chickpeas, lemon juice, and tahini. Instead I felt like I bought tahini sauce or crushed sesame butter. Will definitely go back for their bread!
Emily Sablosky
Some of the best bread I've had this side of the Atlantic. Great textures and flavors.
Baked things like cookies and cinnamon rolls are also most excellent, especially the buckwheat cookie. Oh yum.
And the coffee - carefully made - goes great with everything.
Lauren Rosen
Beautiful presentation with fantastic customer service and the food is great tasting too. My chai latte was wonderful and I had the fish platter with the homemade toast which was delicious. The giant cinnamon roll is also a must. Overall on point!
Aakansha Maheshwari
Lodge Bread deserves 5 stars or maybe more. I have tried a bunch of their stuff but what I think sets them apart is how they serve with so much love! Seriously! Even when there was a crazy rush on the long weekend, the servers made sure we got a spot and they were so mindful - bringing water, napkins without us even asking for it. I absolutely love their pizzas- best in LA I say. The almond butter toast is perfection. I usually get a hot oat milk mocha but my friends really loved the campfire mocha. The pita sandwich was also delicious. I mean, everything is fresh and yummy! The toast might feel a little pricey but it’s definitely filling and you can share it with another person - the portions are big. I would call this spot my fav on the westside! A big shoutout to the manager who took the time to chat with me this afternoon..I requested for more vegan options in the baked section so he brought me some freshly baked Focaccia bread with veggies as a complimentary dish. So thoughtful and sweet! Definitely coming back with more friends.
Sean L
Great sandwich. Lack luster service.
Dustin Varty
The pizza is my favorite in LA. The guys running the shop are great and the redesign of the space and outdoor area are great.
Galen Emigh
Veggie sandwich is always refreshing, the bell pepper spread on it is sweet and light. Love their bread, definitely a Mar Vista staple.
Gregory
Very neat spot in Culver City if you love great Neapolitan-style pizza.
These guys take it very seriously. They pay attention to every last detail, down to the cloth napkins. I love the design with the exposed wrought iron I-beams.
The atmosphere was just right the day I went, however I don't think I'd want to be in there when it gets crowded. And it definitely deserves to be.
Colleen Londono
Really great food! Ordered via Uber Eats and they forgot our pizzas but I called and Javier delivered them! amazing service!
Bogdan Visan
Quite a lively location, full of great atmosphere. The portions are pretty big and the ricotta and jam is delightful. Highly recommend for breakfast/lunch. The menu has a wide assortment of food, as well as the pastry display.
Margaret Czeisler
Love these guys!!! Wonderful staff. Amazing bread and baked goods. Hit them up Sunday nights for their special thin crust, napolitana style pizza. Wonderful granola that's not overly sweet!!
Zach Carman
Great outdoor seating and there are a lot of veggie options!
Greg Bryett
Best bread in LA. Cinnamon Role will blow your mind. Coffee could be better, but you can't have everything...
Jolene Abbott
This place is quickly becoming a neighborhood gem. They make the best coffee in the area. You can't go wrong with the classic cinnamon / sugar toast and the seasonal, homemade pumpkin bread. It's 100% from scratch and is a pretty big portion. This is the perfect spot to swing by on a Sunday morning for a light breakfast and make sure to grab a loaf of their fresh bread to take home.
Colin Mosher
Great pizza in a cozy, friendly spot. Three taps, some cans and a surprisingly affordable wine-list. I had the potato-leek pizza, the little pop of acid and heat from the Calabrian chili was perfection. Go for the dough, stay for the solid vibe.
José María Andrés Martín
Good quality fresh bread that they use for pizzas, toasts and sandwiches. I know we are in a pandemic, but I didn't appreciate how they directed me to give a specific tip (15%, 20% or 25%), pretty high for paying upfront at the counter.
Eldad Alfi
This place is so freaking BOMB! I simply love it. Just wish it was closer to my house or office so I could stop by more often. Can't wait till they open the next branch in West Adams District someday.
all for you playhouse the playhouse
The sourdough Challah, is the most delicious in town! I try any were NY, Mexico, trust me, you must try it!
make sure you said by to your baker !
Jamison Moore
Yes, it's as hipster as they come. It's cramped, loud, and can be a bit intimidating. But holy yeast packets is the bread amazing. The fat pita with the grilled vegetables is one of the best things I've ever eaten, and their take on a grilled cheese should require a permit. Parking isn't so bad on the street, but be prepared to scout a bit.
Pamela Walker
BEST BLT IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE
Diana Mikhail
Stopped by for a quick snack and the seasonal jam toast hit the spot! Delicious homemade jam on an amazing slice of bread with the yummiest butter. So good!!!!
Abdallah El Chami
The most excellent place for sourdough bread, pita, hummus and more
Jacob Dubail
I love the breakfast sandwich. I get it every time. Friendly staff, great smells, delicious food.

Loud and bustling! If that is your thing, this is the place! There are a few places to sit down to eat, but many folks come here pick up bread, pastries TO GO, which I recommend. My friend and I were thinking of sitting down for coffee and pastry, but the music was too loud and the place too crowded. However, the staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Bread loafs are $8. Parking is street parking, and as of this write up, there is a huge construction site next door and thus parking is even more difficult to find.
Cameron Farrelly
Simply the best bread in LA county
Carl Clines
A little pricey but they make up for it in size as far as the pastries are concerned. Coffee drinks should be larger for the price you pay. They're north-facing so in the morning you're in the shade so bring a sweater. That of course will change as we get closer to Summer. Support your neighborhood business, everyone is trying to survive.
Andrew Abraham
The pizzas are doughy and delicious! Also try the piled high sammies!
Mark Cheung
Wait time is unacceptable, pizza is good.
Jeff Willson
First time here, had the avocado toast and it is really fantastic. Also the coffee is very good. Everything looks great can't wait to try some of the nut butter on toast. As you would expect the bread it dynamite.
Wade Trefethen
This place is amazing. Great seating, great decor and OMG the food. I had a mushroom pizza, a cauliflower thing and a chickpea salad. It was all so good I stopped on my way to the airport to grab a loaf of bread and some sort of vegan pizza thing. Sooooooo good. Lodge Bread, will you please deliver to NYC? kthxbye
Ross Arnold
Bread here is expensive, but oh so good. You get the quality you pay for. The chocolate croissant is buttery flaky perfection, and the almond croissant is hearty and very good.
Derek G Taylor
Classic, awesome, radiating! Loved the bread, loved the toast, love the people, all around awesome space! Really love that they serve De La Paz Coffee as well. Reminds me of one of my favorite places in San Francisco, The Mill. Looking forward to catching a pizza night or even trying more bread! See you soon neighbors
Corey Ross-Robertson
Wow! Every menu item my family and I got was superb. High quality ingredients and friendly staff gave us a free cookie that was out of this world.
Linda Finn
Whatever your expectations of Lodge's menu, the food will not disappoint. (I do admit at 10 a.m. today I was mildly frustrated they don't offer pizza til 11:00.)
But I got over that real soon. They put their heart into everything they serve.
One caveat: sweets are baked goods, so if you want ice cream, go over to Humphrey Slocum's on Abbot Kinney @Venice Bl.
Jason Buhle
Great bakery. The avocado toast was solid, though perhaps a little avocado-heavy and singular in focus. The bread was the highlight. There is some outdoor seating in the front but it gets loud. No parking.
Lindsey Garrison
Lodge Bread has continued to do a remarkable job during this COVID time. Their food, drinks and customer service remain unparalleled. They also have pizza and bread making kits for anyone who wants to try some at home cooking!
Tiffany Macaranas
Came here around noon on a Saturday and got lucky with parking in the neighborhood. It was packed but managed to get a seat on a communal table. The pizza was beyond amazing as well as the ricotta toast. Can't wait to come back to try other items.
G
Good food (3 stars) and wholesome fresh baked bread (5 stars). Do you feel me? = A little over priced but non the less good!
Bryan Liang
Never knew that bread could be so delicious! Everything looks amazing here.
Periann Yanofsky
Great food and the staff they are the best!!! Will be going back. Best fruit Danish and marvelous sandwiches and salads !!
Brian Angus
Do you wish you could live on bread like me? Natural fermented and delicious! Lodge is where it's at, and it's a lot bigger now after the expansion. Easy to find a table, and the ingredients have kept up in quality as they've grown which is amazing!
Polly Geller
Best birthday breakfast ever: shakshuka with eggs, thick slices of country seeded bread, and homemade ricotta and blackberry jam over sourdough toast. Oh, and the phenomenal coffee!! They threw in a side of good cheer to help celebrate a bold, new year!
Xochitl Flores-Marcial
The best service was provided by the busboy, the woman managing the place was more interested in flirting with the Italian hipsters than acknowledging a family of 4 with well behaved children in arms. The menu is limited, the bread is fresh, but definitely not child friendly place.
Brian Donahoe
I mean this place wants to be the Westside staple for high quality sourdough. Gj***a better watch out... Lodge doesn't mess around when it comes to high quality ingredients and delivering flavor in their breads.
Lesley
Content with their olive herb bread!! And it’s so huge!!!
Tyquion Fisher
The bread here is outstanding. It's fresh, tasty and the variety is beyond comparison to your local grocery store's selection. The toasts are very tasty and the atmosphere in which you eat the toast is very pleasant and casual. I hope to return soon.
Lisa Lewis-Neal
Beautiful! Everything is made in-house, from mayonnaise to pickles to yes, bread. Two food prep areas: one is Kosher! The bread, baked goods, and sandwiches are to die for. Nice spaces to enjoy your goodies inside or out. Friendly, happy staff.
Ryan Sharp
Very crowded and busy, but food was delicious and we'll worth the wait. Pizza was great size for a personal pizza with delicious crust that was brick oven fired so has a nice char on it.
Mel NB
Tasty shakshuka though it could have been better with more spice (it was on the sweet side). The bread was cold, but fresh. Coffee was delicious and service was fantastic.
Vat Desh
Good nice food. They even sell flour, sea salt, and other items if you feel like cooking. Large portions and great ingredients. Nice staff!
Ilan Portugali
bread heaven...and the shakshuka is to die for. wow must have.
Kara Alexander
Absolutely one of my favourite spots in LA. I went here on the regular when I worked in the area. Bread is to die for and I'd order a latte every time just because I love the mugs so much.
Keith Mayoral
Great bread and pizzas with really delicious crust! Cauliflower side is great too! Don't forget to add some ham on your pizza, it's some quality meat!
Megan Hickenbottom
The atmosphere is chill, the staff is helpful, and the food is great!
jessica chow
Get the sourdough cinnamon bun. You won't regret it.
TJ Hucka
Excellent food and quick service!
Marielena Champney
This place is superb from pizza to pastries, been a regular since they opened up and never looked back! Love it here and so happy for their expansion
Tara Lowery
Love this place! They have delicious food, bakery items, and bread. There are tables outside to sit at and enjoy their food. I love bringing home their bread and eating it with fruit and cheese.
Mike Rezl
Amazing pizza, unique ingredients. Best cinnamon roll I've ever had, not too sweet, delicious. Oh yes, they make amazing bread.
David Barroso
Tanya was very nice and Marco had a late night latte I needed it ...And it was good and they were very nice and latte was hot and good. Hope I see them soon.
Tito
A little pricey but really good 👍 …
Michael Johnson
A friend brought me here (Thanks Vavine!)and I bought the country bread and it is hands down better than any other bread in L.A. by lightyears!
Went back and bought the seeded country bread and ITS EVEN BETTER!
Probably the best bread I've ever tasted though to be honest I've never really made an effort to guage it in the past but take a bite of this bread and it's like HOLY WHOLE GRAINS, BREAD MAN!
I didnt know bread could get that good! A little olive oil, balsamic and fresh pepper and I could make a meal out of just the bread.
Thank you lodge bread. I bless you and wish you generational success so that my grandkids can enjoy your bakery art.
Elisabeth S
Great Eats here!!! The servers are very polite! I pick up UberEats Delivery and They are busy but Great customer service!!! Food is Great!
Young T
Expensive, personal, pizza. Congealed and cold. Oh, well. Incredible flavor at BitCoin prices. Go ahead finance someone's beachfront property.
Michael Kovac
This place is exactly the type of restaurant that I love! Insanely delicious food, a delightful knowledgeable staff, and a comfortable environment where you can enjoy your meal while watching the baking magic happening in the background.
Jefferson Logan
I did not know about the place but what I saw, the food I smelled and crowd, this will be a new go to place for me. Outstanding!!!!
Katherine Puente
Fresh bread and overall quality ingredients.
Jim Kassebaum
Great food, expensive, crowded seating
Angela Martinez
I never thought that pizza crust could be so pillowy and delicious. This place is carb-worthy. Definitely coming back for breakfast since I heard the cinnamon bun calling my name.
Robert Carson
Great environment and service also great product.
James Alvarez
If I could, I’d live here. I’ve had three excellent meals. They can do no wrong in my eyes. Lodge Bread is a must for any food lover.
Andrew Hawn
Good place that’s been open for three years now. Bread is excellent and the food is just okay. They do have an interesting layout and a solid pizza oven if you like pizza.
Kamran Khosrovani
Excellent food and high quality ingredients. Very good bread! Unfortunately, the clientele (hipsters/liberals/communists) that frequent this establishment make me want to regurgitate my food.
Randolph Brown
With an amazing selections of breads and a very innovative and delicious breakfast menu, this is a must if you're anywhere in the area. I'll definitely be returning!
Gino Sesto
Dude this place is great. Love the food!
Chip Louie
If I am not baking my bread and I am on the west side of L.A. Lodge bread is where I can buy the only bread better than I bake, the seeded country boule. Baked deep and caramel with a rich wholesomeness I cannot match baking at home. Yum!
Lori Hayes
A must visit! Great fresh food, comfortable atmosphere and honest workers. I highly recommend. Also, I left my grandson’s book on the table and they had it for me the next morning when I discovered it was missing!
Bry Si
Knowing all the work that goes into making a loaf of bread, though $10 seems high, it actually isn't so much. The food by however is nothing at all special and not worth the high cost.
Jack Taniguchi
Bread here is good not great. Since there aren't too many places around like this, this place is packed. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again. Can find much better food in the surrounding area.
Tom Chappell
The shakshuka is great, and comes with several slices of incredible bread.
Amanda Jones
I love this place and I have never tried anything that I did not like here. My favorite is the sourdough cinnamon roll. It is world famous for a reason.
Charles Snix
Cute spot, a bit small, good music and good food. Some good vegan options if you're into that, and somw of the best bread I've had in L.A.
John Li
Bakery items vary daily. Sandwiches are huge.
Christina Gomez
From the coffee to the bacon in the breakfast sandwich....everything here is AMAZING. Can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu.
Paolo Chiarlone
Love the place, great food, amazing bread even if very expensive, usually is very crowded so it is better to show up early. Also parking in the area is pretty pretty hard. However I love this place!
Sara Guerena
Top notch naturally leavened bread. Their pizzas are simple but too expensive - I still feel like they should have continued to focus on bread/toast/coffee - they had it nailed.
Sean Doyle
Quality humans running an exceptional establishment. I was treated like family. Cant wait to go back.
Doug Hyant
Lodge Bread has been amazing since it opened and I love visiting every time I'm in town to see what's new. The expanded space is beautiful!

My go to bread place in LA. The cured fish on sprouted rye and the cultured butter and jam are amongst my favorites. Great lattes as well!

I wish I could drop half a star due to their hours. Pizza is a night time affair!
Still, I had three different types and enjoyed them all.
Makaila Govan

Great atmosphere, delicious menu. Had the Avo Toast, Cinn/Sugar Toast and Shakshuka. So good. Also try the seasonal shrub for a drink.

It’s expensive but very much worth it. The owners are rad and the bread is so good will be sad to not have them near me anymore. Always get the avo toast and a coffee.

Quality 5 star bread. They gave so much of it with my shakshuka. Ate it all (feelin guilty now). The shakshuka is a bit too sweet and couod have another egg.

Sat outside with our dog. We had great food, nice servers. Like most of that area, no parking near, esp with construction in front.

Barrett Meeker
Great bread, great pizza. Friendly staff. Gets crowded though and I wish the hours were better.
J F
Both my wife and I thought the pizza was just OK. The beer selection is lacking, and I disliked that you had to pay every time you order something. Can't just pay at the end of the meal.
Jeannette Michael
Everything in the display case is beautiful! The Little France sandwich and Lodge Bread Company were delicious.
Eve
This place has potential, some of the food is overcooked and a bit overpriced. Their bread is very good though.
