The not quite my variety and the prices are a bit higher than your typical donut, but the donuts are not typical which is what's great about them. The Pumpkin Piebald doesn't look as interesting as the other choices, but it was better than the most interesting ones to me and those were great.

Tried a variety of donuts. Friendly staff. Definitely different but worth a try. The mango and polar berry were good. If you prefer simple donuts I would not recommend.

Fantastic offering of vegan donuts, both raised and cake. I had the lemon berry and passionfruit cacao raised donuts, as well as the pumpkin cake donut. The textures and taste was indistinguishable from a regular donut, and the flavor combinations were fantastic. I didn’t find either of the raised donuts overly sweet, which was also a pleasant surprise. Overall, incredible donuts, and my only regret is that I didn’t try more. Definitely worth a visit!

This vegan punk rock boutique donut shop was the brainchild of Mark Trombino, music producer for such bands as Jimmy Eat World and Blink 182 and former drummer of the band Drive Like Jehu. They make the donuts in house and you can customize the donuts to your liking. I’ll tell you as someone who’s not a vegan that the donuts here taste amazing and if it wasn’t advertised as a vegan donut you could never tell the difference. Everything in the store is plant based from the donut toppings to the almond milk you dip them in and the coffee creamer. Their donuts have Emo/Punk Rock band theme names like their chocolate donut, Fudgegazi based off the post-hardcore band Fugazi, and their blueberry donut Hüsker Blü, named after the punk rock band Hüsker Dü. The store is beautiful and well kept, the Punk theme is all throughout from the donut names to the font choices. the staff was very friendly. The employee helping me was in a great mood and laughed at my joke which I appreciated a lot 💁🏻 The donuts are delicious and creative and clever. They were fluffy and very fresh and sweet and delicious. The area is hip and thriving and pretty green for LA! Lots of surrounding record stores, cafes, fun bars and great restaurants. Street parking only but fun to walk around the neighborhood.

I tried to order on post mates and it didn't work out. I wanted to get special donuts for my daughter's birthday. The folks at Donut friends took good care of me and I ended up going there. The donuts are amazing and all vegan. They were so fresh and delicious! Why eat any other 🍩 donuts? Great variety . There is something for everyone. Try the Brulee' it's delish!

I went to check out Donut Friend and I was surprised there was a line of people waiting for it to open! I really wanted to try the triple chocolate but they didn't have any. I settled for a caramel pecan old fashioned which was kinda meh. The donut itself was good (fresh/flavorful) but the caramel tasted like the "caramel" chips you can buy, not actual caramel. I was pretty disappointed. The chocolate yeast donut made up for it though because... YUM! Cooked to perfection but still doughy and fresh. So, so good. Can't wait to try more flavors

Yum. This is the original location. They will customize your donut with a one in a million combination of ingredients and toppings. Compared to other famous places like Voodoo in Portland, they use less oil and sugar, and the dough is moister.

Highly recommended stop on a trip to LA. Donut Friend has amazing vegan doughnuts! I can't say enough about how tasty and colorful they are. The cute location has been busy each time I've stopped in in the evening, but the line moves quickly and the treat is worth the wait.

No matter where you are in LA you need to come to Donut Friend! For those who eat gluten free the donuts in the black print on the menu are the ones that can be made gluten free or you can go the DIY route. However, keep in mind that the gluten free donuts share a dryer with the non gluten free ones. I ordered the gluten free polar berry club and it was absolutely amazing! The donut was moist and flavorful, the berries were ripe and sweet and the lemon glaze was to die for. My sister got the Panda berry and was completely satisfied. I can't wait to go and try the others!

I wish this place had a better sitting area with more comfortable chairs. Other than that The selection and flavors of Donuts are fantastic. All flavors are vegan (including the ice cream). I got the banana with cookie butter on a plain donut, and Samoa flavored one with ice cream. I highly recommend this place.

Definitely the place to go for fun vegan donuts! The flavors are all very unique and interesting, but they still have some basics for the traditionalists. Some of my favorites were: the Polar Berry and the S'mores. I didn't care much for the Cookie Butter and my boyfriend didn't like it at all because it was salted. I picked up a classic maple as well because that's my favorite basic donut and that was great quality. My non-vegan boyfriend thought the S'mores was incredible! We also picked up the Fudge and Rice Crispy which were both good but not the best. I totally recommend this place to any vegan looking for a real decadent sugary, fatty treat. These 6 donuts ran me about $20 so not cheap! But totally treat yo self!

Wow, the reviews don't lie - this spot is great! You wouldn't ever guess the donuts are vegan. All amazing! We got 4 of them on our visit: green Teagan and Sara, custard front drive (with green 'slime' custard for halloween), x-ray speculoos, and caramel on parade. Loved them all - and I'll admit donuts are not even in my top 5 favorite desserts. Also got an iced mocha with oat milk - very good. Great service. Short line out the door during our 3 pm visit on a Saturday and plenty of donuts still available! Covid precautions allow only 2-3 parties inside at once (1 looking at donuts/ordering, 1 waiting to pay, 1 paying/receiving delicious goods). Definitely recommend a stop!

Small but cute and trendy with very helpful staff. Great vegan Donuts very fresh. You can purchase pre-made wonderful Creations like polar Berry doughnuts. Or you can make your own amazing donut. Very tiny space inside for sitting couple tables that are very small outside. Parking is either on the street or immediately around the corner at a public lot.

I mean...what else is there really to say about this place except that they have AMAZING donuts????? Their flavor combinations and donut concepts are really unique and their prices are really decent! We tried four different flavors for our first rendezvous here and we were not disappointed. These are not the exact names (because for the life of me I can't remember them all haha) but we tried the one that was like a Samoan cookie, one that was filled with nutella, another that is apparently a customer favorite which is filled with strawberry and whipped cream, and the last was a coconut and lime donut. Honestly folks, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose!! The only down side was parking was kinda rough when we went (highland park is getting so hipster!!!!) And we had to search around to get napkins and knives. All minor things that really didn't matter too much when you are in donut heaven :)

Holy gentrification, Batman. They have these off the wall donuts at these awesomely expensive prices. So I think I dropped $40 bucks here because I felt like ballin' out on some carbs. I think I ordered almost one of everything they had that looked different. They have some great concoctions and some run-of-the-mill items that aren't really worth it. If you're there for a couple of pieces, definitely a good side piece for your equally expensive latte.

I drove up from San Diego for these donuts--a 200+ mile round trip. They did not disappoint. I heard about Donut Friend from a YouTube video and knew I had to go when I saw green tea glaze and donuts filled with strawberries and the vegan version of cream. You'll never know it's not "real". Everything tastes rich, sweet, and artery-hardening, plant-based or no. They're open until 10 p.m. on most days from what I remember, so they have breakfast treats and late night cravings covered. There's a wide selection of ready-made donuts in their cases; you can take singles, a box of four, or a dozen. (I took four, then saw a tray of the green tea ones come out fresh from the oven while at the register. The employee helping me kindly obliged my gluttony by fetching me one of those to boot.) You can also mix and match glazes, toppings, and donuts, which can be as traditional as chocolate or cinnamon to as adventurous as maple "bacon" or salted caramel pretzel. Everything looked and tasted fresh. The shop itself is simple and clean. Parking can be a little tricky, but I managed with a reasonably priced lot right around the corner. Five donuts ran to $15, but if I'm willing to drive four hours to get them, price is of no consequence. Besides, they apparently donate a large portion of their profits to various organizations (Planned Parenthood is what the sign on the counter read on my visit). While these donuts might not be the best thing for waistlines, they're doing good in the world at large.

Its all VEGAN!!! Bet a lot of folks didn't know that! Or couldn't tell the difference. Their donuts are packed full of taste and affordable! Around $3.50 each....crème brulee and mint chocolate creme stack! I've tasted my far share of bad vegan desserts that only taste like one thing...one type is sugar, no matter the change in texture of additions. But this place is fantastic! They even had vegan scoops. It is highland park's Yorktown. Good luck with parking.

Hands down best vegan donuts in LA. They even taste better than non vegan donuts. I have had non vegan friends try them and they couldn't believe how good they were and said they wouldn't have known the donuts were vegan had I not told them. I only wish they used Postmates or Grubhub so I wouldn't have to drive from Burbank all the time. They use Caviar which does not deliver to all of the LA area like the other 2 do.

A must try, the donuts are soft, light, fluffy and delicious. They are not too sweet. Even after a day, it taste great. Highly suggest sharing with friends or family as these donuts are huge and you'll be able to try different flavors without the guilt.

There is something different about these vegan donuts. I'm not vegan, but these are the only donuts for me. Regular donuts have an aftertaste of regret - an unctuous feeling that lingers. Donut Friend donuts are beautiful crafted light, flavorful treats. I especially recommend their custard filled and crème brûlée donuts. Not sure how they make a vegan custard that is better than regular custard, but they do. Order ahead on their website and get a discount! If you'd prefer not to order ahead, prepare to wait in a line outside. The line isn't so bad, though. They are located in a fun neighborhood with parking nearby.

After going vegan, I missed the complex artisan donuts that some donut shops like to make. I was excited to hear about Donut Friend, a donut shop that makes similar donuts that are 100% vegan! I stopped by on a Friday night and there was a line, but nothing crazy - maybe a 10 minute wait? I assume the peak hours are around that time. When I got inside, I walked by a display case filled with different types of artisan donuts. Each donut had a punny name and they all looked fancy. Prices per donut vary; the ones I got were $3-$4 each. Pricey compared to 7-eleven, but about normal for an artisan donut place. I bought 4 donuts and they were delicious! My favorites were the S'morrissey (s'more) and the Fudgegazi (chocolate with chocolate whipped frosting.) This must remain an occasional indulgence due to both the high sugar content and the price; however, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique vegan treat.

Chew This Up

The super cool thing about Donut Friend is you can grab a gluten-free donut and customize the donut with MOST of the options. The gluten-free donut is made without wheat flour BUT made in a kitchen with wheat flour. I've had three gluten-free donuts, and I didn't get sick. You can choose your favorite fillings and toppings. I found a parking lot within one block. The customer service is excellent. They offer ample indoor seating, drinks, and napkins. You may see a line on the weekend, but the line is worth the wait.

The Truth

I've been to Donut Friend quite a few times and I'm always pleased with the service and donuts. I'm a vegetarian and have a vegan in the family and someone that's allergic to dairy and this place is so amazing for us all to have a delicious treat. We have driven lots of miles to come here because of how delicious the donuts are. We usually get a couple donuts each because the 1st one usually gets eaten so fast,you definitely need a 2nd one,at least. There's usually a line out the door but the efficiency and speed of the employees are great,it's never a long wait. There's tons of close by street parking. The prices for these donuts are right on point.

My # favorite donut shop. Im not vegan and love the donuts here. My favorite donut is the xray Spec. It has chocolate and peanutbutter with specs of sea salt. The mint one is a lemon cream with mint and blueberry jam its ok really sugary so if your a fan of jelly donuts try this one. My second favorite is a seasonal one the pumpkin pie ball one. This place is great must try and the prices vary some are $2.50 others can be $4.50. Love love donut friend.

Only after shoving 4 raised donuts in our mouths, including a maple "bacon" flavor did we realize they were all vegan! Currently my favorite donut shop ever, and I love donuts. We've been back since and tried as many flavors as we could, we can say for certain, theyre masters of the delicate balance of sweetness, not too little not too much. I find most places are cloyingly sweet, making it hard to finish one, donut friend makes theirs so balanced you find it hard to stop at 2.

Worth it!!! Delicious food and friendly environment. Parking is limited to street parking in front, so you will most likely have to park else where and walk to the store front. I was able to secure a spot on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon. The donuts here are incredibly creative and delicious with many options. We had 4 people in our group, and every one was able to find something that suited their taste's and/or dietary restrictions! Offering vegan/vegetarian/and gluten free. Most items are by default Vegan 🤠 🙈 but you wouldn't know it One thing I will say is that the dinning area is small, and space is limited both in and out of store. So be prepared to eat in close quarters or take your donuts to go. Everything is packaged well, which should make sure any one with a moderate driving style will get home safely with their bounty.

Parking is close by around the counter. Staff is always friendly, the donuts are great, my wife's favorite donut is the passion fruit iced one. But I have yet to have a bad donut from donut friend. For a vegan donut they're damn good. They're probably my third favorite donut in CA. Sorry donut friend but vegan donuts can't beat non-vegan donuts no matter how good you make them.

OMG incredible and original donuts, great selection, if they do not have your favorite flavor, they will custom make it in front of you. CHOCOLATE FROM THE CRYPT and S'MORRYSSEY are the best of the bunch but they are all generally good, there are also some vegan options. Street parking gets complicated during rush hour or weekends.

Here’s the deal. The donuts are outrageous. Tender bite, complex flavor profiles and reasonably priced. Also, they’re all vegan! I must admit, I was that annoying customer that asked if “everything was vegan” i was given looks by the counter servers and other customers waiting in line. But after receiving the go ahead, it was like the gates of donut heaven opened to me! (Yes, i ate all of em!)

You have a round body With a hole at your center. I want to taste you Lick, bite and smell you. When I have you I feel and taste happy. When you are gone I know what I did wrong. Until we meet again, I miss you my Donut Friend. Best vegan donuts that I have ever tasted. My favorite (and only one I've tasted) is the promise ring. It is plain and glazed. Well I finally made it. Each time I go past, it always has a long line and even though I like a good donut I can do without. The person who help us was very nice and helpful. Inside was small and I can see how on a busy day would get very crowded. I tried the Apple Fritter and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. Very airy and lots of cinnamon and apple flavor. My daughter had the chocolate custard but she did not like it much she is still a Krispy Kreme girl. The oil that was used was good. No after taste. I can always taste it in the other donut shop including Krispy Kreme unless I go there right after they change the oil. Street parking but a public lot is right around the corner. Enjoy!

This was my favorite donut place long before I was vegan and I was so stoked to find out that I was still able to have them when I fully transitioned! The vanilla and chocolate whipped cream fillings are amazing and so are the ice creams. The frosting toppings are also good but just make sure you wait for them to harden if they’re too fresh so that way they’re not too messy. ^_^ My favorites are the fudgazzi, the matcha with whipped cream filling added and the apple fritter. You can also add mochi, fruit, and all sorts of crazy toppings and fillings if you’re feeling adventurous. I love that this place is all cruelty free and absolutely delicious.

OMG just had one of the best donuts of my life here in LA at Donut Friend! I got the Polar Berry Club donut and it tastes as good as it looks! The ingredients are so fresh which really makes a difference and everything just tastes wonderful. I've tried a lot of different donut places around LA and this is my favorite!

Donuts are my absolute favorite treat, and when I went vegan it was a bummer to give them up. But then I discovered Donut Friend and fell in loooove. Not only are the donuts insanely delicious, the staff are always so lovely! My partner and I brought in our own container for the donuts and felt a bit hesitant to ask to use it, but the staff member was so sweet and was happy to use it - and the donuts fit perfectly inside which was so satisfying haha Parking in this are can be a bit tough so I’d recommend parking on the streets a block behind, just make sure to check the parking rules :)

Vegans and non vegans alike love this place. They have some of the best donuts available. They have the standards like an old fashioned glaze, cinnamon rolls, and they have unique flavor combos, like mango and chili. They also have a vegan Nutella donut, green tea, cream filled, jelly filled, AND they have ice cream. You will be able to find something you love.

We are chocolate fanatics, so we got the one with chocolate frosting and chips and the Smores one. They were so good I'm considering buying a dozen before leaving here.

I heard about this vegan donut shop while watching Good Mythical Morning on YouTube. I found the concept awesome and knew I had to make it over when I had the chance. First impressions were positive. The donuts looked great and the service provided to the customers before us seemed pleasant. As soon as it was our turn, however this took a bit of a down turn. Service: The person behind the counter was rushing us through our order. I am usually rather quick with choosing items, but being told to choose the next one as the words for the previous item was leaving my mouth was off-putting. There weren't many people in line, and the entire process took little less than a minute. The Donuts: We ordered a dozen donuts (see photo) two seasonal crème brûlée, two strawberry lab, a raspberry filled, lemon frosted with berries, Nutella, green tea, s'mores, passion fruit, and caramel. The majority of the donuts were excellent, with the strawberry lab and raspberry filled standing out for personal preference. Unfortunately the s'mores donut was extremely dry and made the process of enjoying it rather difficult.

The create your own is awesome, and you can make anything that your heart desires. Everything is vegan, which is heavenly for me. I enjoy the donuts, but the prices are very high for the taste. A lot of them are very sugary. However they have some more traditional style donuts like cake donuts and such and are less sweet but have great flavour. It is worth mentioning that most of the texture of the donuts is completely indistinguishable from other types of non-vegan donuts. So that is very impressive I need and of itself.

Credit to them for doing the whole "make your own donut" with the current trend of everything being make your own. Would be nicer if toppings didn't cost $1 each as well. Bottom line, you'll get a good donut, but you'll pay an arm and a leg for it. If this place was $3 for unlimited toppings, I'd be here a hell of a lot more.

I tried this place with a vegan friend of mine. I'm a vegetarian so don't need to get my fix here but some of the selections were delicious. The custard donut was super tasty and I'll always get that when I go again. The mint ice cream hot donut (I forgot the name) was also tasty but eat it fast! I wish the chocolate on the top of some donuts hardened and was easier to eat but it seems most folks break out the knife and fork to down these gourmet options. I'll be back!

I'm not vegan, but you honestly can't tell the difference. Their donuts are very delicious, but they are very rich and filling. If I have more than 1, maybe 2 I get a stomach ache haha. They are also very pricey $4-$5+ a doughnut. Don't let that deter you though, they are some of the best tasting doughnuts around! Definitely great for a once a month cheat (I honestly can't eat them more than that haha).

Tasty, vegan, and incredibly expensive. I would describe myself as "into doughnuts" and I will say that these are very good (especially considering they are vegan). The build-your-own toppings system, of equally good vegan toppings, is also a neat addition that adds a lot of unique and tasty combinations. However, with a base price of $2 per doughnut, and a $1 per-topping surcharge, the price of even a single donut quickly becomes exorbitant. If you have a vegan friend coming in from out of town, or want to impress a vegan date, bring them here for dessert - they're sure to love it. Outside of special occasions though, I really can't see being a frequent patron of this place (especially when Scoops is right next door).

As soon as you step through the door you'll see a cop's 👮‍♀️ version of heaven 😇 as you witness a display of donuts so beautiful, you'll have a difficult time imagining how each may taste. With a variety of donuts to pick from, you can simply choose and many as you can guilt yourself into buying and go on your marry way. Or like an infomercials say "WAIT THERE IS MORE" - you can choose to THEN add and CUSTOMIZE each of your donut with a multiple choices of fillings, frostings and toppings. The donuts are delicious, the staff is very friendly. If you place an order online, make sure to bring some kind of confirmation with you. I ordered two dozen donuts for my office earlier in the afternoon. When I got there, they didn't have the order and started that it happens sometimes. Not only did I have to try to remember what was in the order, but they were unable to fulfill some of it (which is why I placed the order online- to avoid that). This isn't the fault of the staff or the company- technology will do what it does- but I was definitely kicking myself for not bringing the screenshot of the order I took.

I love the concept of Donut Friend! They have a DIY donut (do it yourself), so you can add your own toppings and glaze and anything to your heart's content! I got the Cream Syndicate and it was sooo good. The orange marmalade flavor worked well with the cream spread. My friend who loves basil got the Jets to Basil donut, it has a good basil taste to it. In a way, the donut is like a bagel, because they split the donut in half and add spread and other things inside. I'm a big donut connoisseur and this place makes my list of top 3 donut places in LA! Parking is plenty in the area, if you don't want to pay for meter parking just turn into the residential area and park for free!

I'm much more of a fan of old-style donut shops where you can get a buttermilk bar, long john, or plain cake donut. If you're like me this isn't the place for you. Donut Friend is entirely in the new school where it's sugar-on-sugar with sticky, sweet glazes, fillings, and toppings everywhere. Each donut is intended to please the eye just as much as the palette, and that appeal comes with a premium price tag. There was a noticable saltiness to the donuts I tried which provides a mouth-watering salty-sweet taste.

I'm not familiar with the Highland Park area, but a friend recommended I try Donut Friend. As I approached the shop, I noticed the line forming outside the door. A bit surprising, since it was around 2pm on a Saturday, but the line moved at a good pace. It also helps that the line forms in front of the donut selection. The donuts are like none other. You will definitely not find these at the yum yum around the corner. To start off with, these are vegan donuts, but in my opinion taste better than most other donuts. I chose 3: Strawberry Lab (A traditional donut filled with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and topped with chocolate glaze). My personal favorite. The whipped cream was really good and fresh. CINNAMINERAL (Chocolate cinnamon crumble and vanilla glaze on top of a traditional donut) Light, delicate, and just enough cinnamon for a good flavor. NUTELLAVISION (A chocolate hazelnut spread and a dash of olive oil inside our traditional donut, topped with vanilla glaze and a pinch of sea salt.) This was my friend's favorite, but the sea salt really caught me off guard. When I first took a bite, it was a bit overpowering and I think took away from most of the other flavors.

I was in Donut Heaven today. While I was there I had a glazed donut with fruit topping. Delicious! When I got home I had a peanut butter, cholate with sprinkled chico stick.. Yum! But I didn't stop there, I also hadf the strawberry shortcake. 😩😩😩 The donuts are soft and melt in your mouth I swear, I literally just double-checked their website to confirm that everything was vegan 😂😂 because it's that good!!! Before yous say anything, I'm not vegan and am not overly partial to vegan food but there's no way to tell these things are animaless. The Fudgegazi and X-Ray Speculoos are personal favorites of mine. The only draw back, as with all vegan food, is the price. While expensive these things are definitely worth the occasional treat.

I didn't really experience good service here. Yes it was quick but the young lady was less than thrilled to help me. When I was at the checkout and pressed print for my receipt she quickly took the papers and put them with the other receipts and left me midway through my sentence which was "could I have my receipt" (never received it). Also, I ordered 6 donuts and 2 of the passion something and she ended up putting a regular glaze which I asked for when she asked me for the ice cream sandwich thing. The time I went their was only chocolate and coffee ice cream. I would guess maybe 20 more people came through the door and they were commenting that this shouldn't happen that they need more supplies and I completely agree with that. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back for a while.

Winner of the best desserts in LA. Sounds like you've got to check it out. I had the Angry Samoa, which was pretty tasty, but I regretted not making my own donut combination. What would I come up with, you ask? Well, I might start with a vanilla cake donut, fill it with peanut butter, top it off with peanuts, and maybe drizzle some just like honey to finish it off. I'd call it the Peanuts Mistaken for Stars. I'll work on the name, but sounds pretty good to me.

Customization is the play here, with the ability to take a donut and add whatever fillings and toppings you want. I stuck with one of the pre-customized options (and a simpler one at that): the Poppy Gandhi (vanilla cake donut with a lemon/poppy seed topping). The icing had a great lemony kick to it. The donut was a little odd; the outside was nice and crispy from the frying, but the interior didn't have that great rich, cakey texture I like from a cake donut. It was later that I found that Donut Friend is almost completely vegan, which may explain the textural issue. Kudos to them for the low-key veganism, though. I have a feeling the raised donuts will fare better after going through the vegan ringer, so I'll have to come back to try that in the future.

My wife dragged me into this spot for donuts after dinner in the neighborhood and I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I'm not a donut person and went in not wanting anything but really liked the vibe and that all the donut favors were a play off of musical bands or artist. I know, nothing to do with the actual product but it got me to buy a few donuts which I really enjoyed. What I like about Donut Friend is their donuts are like sandwiches with a variety of filling. I've been to Voodoo Donuts and Blue Star Donuts in Portland and I think I'd lean more towards these guys because they're a little difficult deferent than others. Cinnamineral Donut is my favorite! A little confusing the first visit. Visuals are right up front as you enter (you'll always get a friendly, "hello welcome to Donut Friend"). You'll order at the register towards the back of the store. Tip: get four donuts and split them in half with a date. You'll get to sample them all this way, and for the creations that are super sweet it's just a little more than a bite! // they have almond milk which makes for an amazing pairing.

There are multitudes of pre-built flavor combinations with awesome Punk Rock inspired themes along with the choice to build your own. After Thrillist declared Donut Friend to have one of the best doughnuts in LA, I had to try this place! My friend had recently bought a house nearby so I decided to bring Donut Friend as a housewarming gift. Parking is street only, but I was able to find a spot less than a block away and walk over. They have a Dozen Donut Special, where you order a dozen doughnuts and can get a box of doughnut holes and a dipping sauce for free. I went with that option and the lady was nice and let me have two dipping sauces because I couldn't choose between vanilla and maple. Thanks! For my dozen I got the following: -- Strawberry Lab: A traditional donut filled with whipped cream, fresh strawberries -- Strawberry Lab topped with chocolate glaze -- (2) White Chocolate Stripes: A traditional donut topped with a mixed berry glaze, white chocolate, and a fresh blackberry -- (2) S'Morrissey: A chocolate cake donut filled with toasted marshmallows, topped with chocolate glaze and graham cracker crumbs -- (2) Mango Chili Lime: Traditional donut, chili lime seasoning, candied lime -- Husker Blu: A moist cake donut loaded with fresh blueberries and a blueberry glaze -- Polar Berry Club: Lemon glaze, fresh mixed berries, and mint on top of a traditional donut -- (2) Angry Samoa: A vanilla cake donut dipped in chocolate, and topped with caramel, toasted coconut, and chocolate stripes I would be a horrible gift-giver if I gave them these doughnuts and then ate them all, so I only sampled two of them. The Polar Berry Club was delicious, but my favourite was the Mango Chili Lime. That one was really good! I ate half of it and then chased my friend down to make her eat the other half because I loved it so much and wanted her to enjoy it too. Yum! It is one of their Limited Edition doughnuts, however, so they do not always have it in stock. Donut Friend is also amazing because you can DIY your own doughnut creations. You pick a doughnut base, then the filling, and then toppings! I've never done this (because their already assembled doughnuts look/sound amazing enough) but this sounds really cool too! So smart of them because with this DIY option you will constantly have to come back to try more creations! I definitely need to come back to try their other doughnuts, and perhaps make my own ;)

Sure, you can get a basic glazed or chocolate cake donut with sprinkles. But why not have a glazed donut filled with peanut butter and jelly or a maple bacon? Or how about a coffee donut or strawberry and cream? Or one based on everyone's favorite girl scout cookie, the Samoa? You can go with as simple or creative as you want, but either way it'll be decadent and delicious. You only live once.

I tried the “nutella” doughnut and it was just ok. Like the Nutellas from Colorado Doughnut better, it really tastes like Nutella. I would come back for the Polar Berry one, very fresh and tasty... oh, and they have the saddest most depressed doughnut I ever seen! I had learned about this place on Instagram when I was still living in the Inland Empire. When I moved here, I finally got to check it out for the first time about a month ago. Oh man was it good. I had a PB&J that was made with a lemon donut that was cut in half. Amazing. I went back again because it was so good. This time I had the S'morrisey. It was unbelievable. I will definitely be back to this place soon enough to continue trying what their huge selection has to offer.

I have been to almost all Katsu-ya locations -- Hollywood, Glendale, Brentwood, Sherman Oaks, Encino, and Studio City. The best and most memorable service at a Katsu-ya has been at their Sherman Oaks location on Sepulveda Blvd. I highly recommend visiting this location as their sushi chefs are friendly, prompt, attentive, and their staff including their manager interacts with the guests. He also offers water to those waiting for a seat. This Katsu-ya location has the worst service out of all the locations I've been visiting over the past 13 years. They are inefficient and disorganized here. I left Kiwami tonight without finishing our meal because of their horrible level of service. I should have left $0 for tip. We left and visited the neighboring original Katsu-ya Studio City location (and paid for valet again at their neighboring sister restaurant) to finish off our meal including dessert. I vowed to never return to Katsu-ya if we received the same level of service at the original location. Reasons for our dissatisfaction at Kiwami (upscale Katsu-ya): -Gave my sister a pot of hot water instead of tea. I've never seen that before. -The server called me "sir" when I am a femaleLoved this donut concept similar to custom places like Subway or 800 Degrees. You tell them how you want your donut topped or filled. I ordered a croissant donut topped with maple and bacon. I took one bit and devoured it in several bites. One of the best versions of the croissant donuts I've had in LA. Make a trip out here if you're a donut lover or in the area. We were in not too far Santa Anita and made the drive here from there -- totally worth it. Take a walk in the area and try the many taco trucks in area while you're out here. Maybe go over to Galco's to check out their display of bottled sodas, craft beer, and candies. You can take a stroll over to The York, grab a pint of craft beer, then head over to back in the neighborhood on the weekend and have a taco at the home selling tacos from their yard.

Saved on the line of fire... About 2 years ago they had just open. I naturally stopped by to check it out, i never had a rich donut... My was 16$ out the door with bells and whistles and they had great flyers so i grabbed a few. The donut did hit the spot right on the yam yam... About 3 days later, 830am, I'm running late, my car gets woop woop sound and we get pulled over. First thing i was asked: If i knew why did i get pulled you over? I reached for my registration and accidently pulled out the flyer folded in 3 and it said Donut Friend on front of it... Lets me go w no ticked and we all lived happily ever after. The end. Last but not least you still reading this, its cause your awesome, and weed is finally legal, finally, so don't forget to get the new or renew your doctors recommendation at Cannabis Evaluations of Glendale.
