Love Notes for TLC

This lovely family owned business makes the most delicious treats! Many items are listed as dairy and egg free due to allergens but aren’t technically vegan because of some toppings. I purchased three of their dairy and egg free desserts and was absolutely astounded by the rich, flavorful taste. The owner was friendly and accommodating, I do hope this business flourishes. The flavors of their “vegan” delicacies are amazing!

Dempsey Bakery is an all-time favorite in our family. They are an allergy and dietary needs friendly place where those of us with such (and those without) can enjoy great food! The cookies, cakes, bread, crackers, and other treats are incredible. So in for lunch if you are in the area and have a treat with it. You won't be disappointed unless they sell out before you get there.

The best bakery and sandwich shop for those with food allergies. Lots of options for take away in the small freezer so you can enjoy it for your lunch and dinner - plus breads and pastries for breakfast the next day! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the owner is always happy to help answer questions. The veggie sandwich is a solid winner any day of the week.

I LOVE Dempsey’s bakery. Every single item I have bought is fantastic. I have celiac disease and it’s difficult to find decent treats that are gluten free. I have tried other gluten free items from bakeries and they always use almond flour (which I hate) Dempsey’s Bakery items taste like I don’t have Celiac disease and I will gladly spend all my money there.

Excellent Gluten Free selection! Everything there was gluten free, and there was a great number of soy free, potato free and other allergen free options. We ate a chicken sandwich and a key lime cheese cake both of which were delicious! The decor was nice and the people working there were very friendly and helpful.

Omg, I love, love, love this place! I was visiting Little Rock on a business trip and was searching on my find me gluten free app, and lo and behold I came across this lovely bakery! The owner was fantastic and knowledgeable and let me tell you what, this was some of the best gluten free food I’ve ever tasted! The baked goods ranged from brownies, and these little star cookies with cream in the middle, birthday cake cheesecake and moist bread!

I've lived and traveled all over the country and hands down, Dempsey's is the best gluten free bakery I've ever been to. Even my non-celiac husband and children love Dempsey's treats. Staff is always super welcoming and helpful. We're very fortunate to have this bakery here in Little Rock. Musts to try are the Hot Milk Cake, the BLT from the lunch menu, cinnamon rolls, crackers, and and variety of cheesecake.

We stopped here for some grub; their lunch time was over, but they were more than happy to hook us up with some chicken-salad sandwich box-lunches. The sandwiches were delicious; I really liked the bread, it had a good, hearty flavor. If you love cheesecake, this has to be the spot. I had the salted-caramel cheesecake which was something else... very creamy and flavorful. The proprietor and her employees are a class act. Even though the cafe/bakery sits downtown a few blocks from the capital building, parking here seemed ample... we drive a big pick-up. If you're on the road, traveling I-40 for example, getting to this bakery is no hassle. Edit: I forgot to mention the banana-bread; best banana-bread ever, and I've had all manner of banana-bread... moist and incredibly flavorful banana flavor. You can tell they used those bananas at just the right moment.

We stopped here on a family road trip a few months ago. As a GF family, it is often very difficult to find good quality sweet treats. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions almost before we asked. We loaded up on far too many treats and every single one exceeded our expectations. Dempsey Bakery is by far the best place we've tried. We highly recommend them.

Gluten ! Smuten!! So as a person that equates Gluten Free to be Bland tasting food!! I happened about this place ordered couple of bear claws and a cinnamon roll with coffee and juice. The owner Paula started to talk to me and as the conversation went on she said they were a specialty Bakery and the baked goods were gluten free!! I told her she shouldn’t have told me that cause I had really enjoyed the bear claw and my theory on gluten free was shattered!! Good stuff and I double dog dare you gluten free haters to try this place!! P.S. Paula gave me the down low in the cool places to see in Little Rock! I shall come back next year!!!

Dempsey Bakery has always had exceptionally great allergen friendly items. I love the convenience of being able to buy their stuff from Drug Emporium or Downtown LR. But what really sets them apart is their customer service. With the rush of Thanksgiving I left my debit card with them and they went so far as to call my bank to get ahold of me. They were nothing but wonderful and I really think that goes a long way. Definitely my go-to for baked goods in LR!

Not the cheapest, but definitely worth it if you or a family member are gluten free. I haven’t found a better place in central AR. Their breads/desserts are also carried in some local restaurants like The Root Cafe. Would highly recommend Dempsey Bakery!

We got some bread, cheesecake, and an Easter cookie. There were all delicious! We are new to the town and wanted to find local businesses. This is the best bakery we could find in Little Rock! One downside is it is pricey. They have gluten and vegan bread which definitely a reason why it’s pricey. And that bread tasted delicious. If you don’t mind spending a pretty penny for some yummy baked goods, do it. Try it just once!! I’ll come back for the cookies and cheesecakes!

Everything that we tried (bread, cookie, and strawberry cheesecake) was absolutely delicious! I love supporting local businesses and try my best to support them as much as possible. Only problem with this bakery is that it is very much on the pricey side and I know their ingredients are top quality but I just can’t find myself going back to purchase half a loaf of bread for $9.50.

I bought a loaf of bread, stopped at my favorite burger joint, got home toasted two pieces of bread, put my burger with all the toppings on my toast, turned the TV on and was half way through my burger before I realized this was gluten free bread. I flew into Little Rock to visit a long time friend and the 1st place she took me from the airport was to Dempsey's Bakery. I have been gluten free due to severe gluten intolerance for 4 1/2 years and this place is AMAZING!! I wasn't expecting the quantity of options available and everything I sampled was delicious. Getting gluten free products to have a "gluten like" texture as in one that had some pull and refinement is not easy. Dempsey's has a great selection of samples to try when you walk in all of which were delicious as well as a huge variety of baked goods in their glass displays and frozen goods to take home for later. The owner Paula welcomed us and was so helpful and friendly. She clearly has a passion for bringing fresh baked preservative free food to everyone - including those who are gluten intolerant and even those who have nut, tapioca, and dairy allergies! She has managed to create products that are free of these allergens without losing any of the richness or flavor that a regular wheat based baked good would have. Thanks so much for the yummy welcome to Little Rock Dempsey's! I wish you'd come to Richmond, Va!

I was just in Little Rock for a brief getaway with my husband, and so excited to see that there was an all-gluten free bakery. And the actual experience far exceeded my expectations! Their offerings are diverse and creative while still paying attention to offering simple staples in a you-won't-believe-it's-gluten-free form. We got lunch as well as taking some desserts to go, and every part of the meal tasted fresh and quality. Paula and her staff were so friendly and helpful too, and I instantly felt at home. As someone with celiac disease living in the south, the entire experience was absolutely priceless. Thanks for such a welcoming (and delicious) experience!

They have a (killer good) vegan birthday cake on hand in their freezer. This was a perfect, last minute treat for one of my dear family members that was in town celebrating his birthday. All you have to do is thaw for a minimum of two hours, or just lay out on the counter until you’re ready to serve—you cannot tell the difference between baked same day or not! They nicely wrote on the cake and sent me on my way. Cute shop! Great cake. I will be back :)

I can't say enough good things about this place! We were visiting town for just 1 night and I thought I'd try my luck finding a gluten free bakery. I was astounded by how delicious their items are, most being gluten, dairy, and nut free. The staff and manager are SO kind and were eager for us to try samples of just about everything. It was hard to decide on what to get, but after we had picked our items, they even threw in an extra sweet because "you have to try these if this is your only time visiting town!" Very grateful for such kind people, great service, and DELICIOUS baked goods. The baguettes with artichoke/spinach dip and the hot milk cake are to die for.

Great for those that are lactose intolerant and gluten free! I had some of their macarons and strawberry cake 🍰. The cake itself was pretty good not overly sweet and had a nice texture but the icing was just extremely sweet. I couldn’t eat any of the icing on this cake because I immediately wanted to spit it out! (Not because the icing flavor itself was bad but the sugar was too much). The macarons were good but also a bit too sweet. I don’t know if that’s how their stuff usually is but as a first time customer it wasn’t that good of a first impression. Perhaps it was an overly sweet batch I don't know but I would suggest they cut the sugar a tad bit because as the only place I know that offers gluten free and dairy free options I would like to go back.

So GOOD! Love the cupcakes! Dempsey Bakery is full of deliciousness and flavor, unlike many supermarket bakeries, and is worth the trip. All offerings are gluten free, so they sit well in the stomach. Service is speedy and friendly. Be careful, though, they're getting really popular, so they can run out of some goodies early. Cookies are spectacular and the pizza crust is heavenly. Not cheapy-cheap, but definitely worth the price.

I've eaten at great gluten free bakeries all over the country, we live in an RV and travel all over the US and Canada. Recently I had to eliminate not only gluten but also soy and dairy. I thought my days of dessert were over forever. We were in Little Rock for 4 days and only found out about this treasure in Sunday and they we're closed on Sunday and Monday. I had read that they were gluten and soy free but also had dairy free too. We were getting ready to leave on Tuesday morning, so I drove over to pick up a few things to try and Paula was so helpful helping me make my selections. I didn't try anything until we got to Hot Springs and I thought I was in Heaven. I made my husband try a very small bite of a cookie and he was very impressed. The Jai Cookies dipped in chocolate were my favorite, wish I had bought more. The Lava Cakes were also great. My only regret is that I didn't get more. We have passed through Little Rock many times and never stopped but I would stop just to go back to Demsey Bakery and also eat lunch. I got a loaf of rye bread it is also delicious. Congratulations to Paula and family for my new favorite bakery in the country! What an unexpected treat!

Finding a place as epic as Dempsey Bakery in Little Rock is like finding a diamond in a coconut, just awesome. Moving here from Texas I was hoping there would be a gluten free restaurant or too but I certainly didn't expect an entire bakery! First visit was amazing, this is a gluten free/food allergen paradise for someone who's searching for quality food. Soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the nice bakers and I was already sampling and sniffing everything around, they have coolers with frozen goods ready to take home, an entire bakery on the other side where one employee was mixing some stuff up, and a display full of dessert goodies. I can't wait to go back to try lunch, they serve lunch until 2PM which includes sandwiches, salads, and pizzas! Took home some fresh baked bread and made myself a sandwich, probably one of the best gluten-free breads made today. The meatloaf dinner was so darn good I couldn't believe it was all gluten free, and the Allie-O's nomnomnom. My favorite snack was the Owl sugar cookies, now that is a cookie I could eat daily. Thank you Dempsey for having a allergen friendly bakery for a person like me, be back soon.

I am here on business and stopped here after eating at Big Orange last night. I bought a cinnamon roll, a piece of cheesecake, a strawberry pie, a bag of cracker bread (garlic flavor), and another pastry that I think was raspberry. I ate it and some of the crackers. Great to have an option. A little pricy and they stop serving food at 2:00. The baked good are good. We were driving through Little Rock and arrived at 3:00. We were planning to get dinner for the road but, nope. They stop serving at 2:00. This would have been good to know before we stopped 20minutes out of our way.
