Gateaux makes a beautiful cake. I ordered a 10 inch Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting and fondant exterior. The cake was beautiful! The cream cheese icing inside was delicious. The only issue I had and that of my guests was… the cake was very, very, dry and tasted like it lacked one or more ingredients. It wasn’t sweet, moist nor did it have that slight cocoa taste. My husband has been eating Red Velvet Cake for the past few decades so he knows a good red velvet. Not sure what happened to the actual cake but presentation, filling and design were awesome. Note: All directions for cake storage were followed per business’ recommendations. Only wish it tasted great. John Walker’s 60th birthday was wonderful but many quests were wondering about the taste and texture of the cake. No one could finish their piece of cake though they said it was designed well. Disappointed for my husband and guests.

My favorite sweet bakery in Denver. I’ve ordered a wedding cake, baby shower, and birthday cake from here. All cakes exceed my expectations. They are beautiful and delicious. I’ve also tried most of the small treats and prefer some to others but luckily they are small enough I can always grab a few to try and at least one is perfect for me. All of the staff I’ve ever interacted with have been nice. You do need to give notice (I think 1 week) for a custom order but in a pinch they have several cakes available for same day pickup. I’ll add that I think the pricing is incredibly reasonable. An 8 inch custom cake with custom design for a recent baby shower was $85. The 8 inch cake is huge considering how tall their cakes are and easily fed the 18 shower guests.

Beyond amazing service for my sons first birthday! I emailed pictures of cakes and cookies I wanted made and then spoke with an employee over the phone to talk through the order. Not only did they deliver, but everything looked even better than the pictures I found online. Our guests and I were blown away! Everything was delicious. I will certainly be back!

Gateaux Bakery absolutely knocked it out of the park for my son’s Hamilton themed birthday cake. I phoned one week prior and spoke to Danielle, who was simply amazing. We talked about my vision, I sent a few pictures via email and she created a phenomenal cake which was so beautiful we almost didn’t want to cut it!! But we are so glad we did! It was equal parts beauty and deliciousness. The cake was moist and flavorful with the perfect amount of sweetness. Seriously one of the best cakes we have ever eaten. The ladies here are so talented, Gateaux is a true gem.

I called Gateaux Bakery from Atlanta to help arrange for a cake for a party I was throwing in Denver. They were an absolute dream to work with and produced the most beautiful and delicious cake! I had previously spoken with another bakery whose staff was very rude and unhelpful. When my husband and I starting making wedding plans I saw a cake online that was exactly what I wanted. It was a gorgeous 4 tier cake with a beautiful depiction of the Blue Ridge Mountains that we call home. I searched for months trying to find the artist behind the cake and finally found Lindsey. She was not only professional and communicative, but kind and easy to talk to. She truly has a passion and talent for what she does. We got a three tier lemon blueberry cake that was so delicious my mouth is watering as I type this review. Our guests were so impressed with the flavor and design. I am so thankful for Lindsey in making this process so easy!

The best cake I’ve had in my entire life. Michelle (and team) did an amazing job on a three tier wedding cake with each layer a different flavor for ~50 guests. The taste of the cake melted in my mouth (not too sweet and the buttercream frosting was great!), and the details were so intricately done. This vendor was a joy to work with over the pandemic as our event moved several times eventually turning into a vow renewal as we eloped during 2020. The delivery and presentation of our cake so so well done. For the best cakes and custom desserts ever - go here!

I have used this bakery for large orders and small. Everything has been done with utmost attention to detail. The staff is friendly and patient if you are struggling to make decisions. My favorite thing is the apricot croissant but you can't go wrong with any of the choices. I ordered customized cookie for an event and they came out perfect. They even added some sparkle to my design request which set it apart. Very impressed and will come back often. There's always been plenty of parking out front too, which is rare downtown Denver.

Beautiful cake! On point with my idea picture I shared. I actually liked it better than the picture if I’m being honest. Cake was moist and delicious. Everyone was so surprised the outside and inside could both be so good. Excellent customer service and communication. Would 100% order from them again! And they were less than half the cost another bakery quoted me for the same cake!

I visited this bakery for the first time on a whim. I was in the area and it was my husbands birthday, so I needed a cake. I looked on Google Maps, saw the high rating and thought I had hit the jackpot! The place was cute, the gift items and floral bouquets were displayed with impeccable class and the display case filled with a variety of pastries and cakes was to die for! Being a first time customer, I decided to get a predictable flavor, so I went with the Reese’s peanut butter cup cake. I thought for sure it would be no fail! Unfortunately it was not even remotely what I was hoping for. The buttercream frosting tasted like bland, unsweetened whipped cream, the yellow pudding filling (ganache?) was not sweet either and the chocolate cake was dry with a very dull chocolate flavor. My teenage daughters first reaction when she tried the cake was “ this cake tastes like it’s a sugar free vegan cake.” Then to top off our disappointment, there were literally tiny sprinklings of what appeared to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in the layers. The cake otherwise had no peanut butter flavoring to identify it as a peanut butter chocolate cake. Michelle was AMAZING, professional and SO friendly so I’m really bummed the cake flavoring was such a disappointment. The common issue I notice in other reviews as well is that the buttercream taste and texture are like unsweetened whipped cream and the cake is not sweet either. All I can say is “Where’s the Sugar?”

What a wonderful bakery! My mother wanted an angel food cake with dark chocolate icing for her 100th birthday party and this was the only bakery that said it could be done! It was delicious and such a beautifully decorated cake that I hated to put the three candles on top...... my mom was thrilled and so were the guests! Thank you!

I am blown away with the cake!! I called this bakery saying my husband is a lover a chocolate, fishing and scotch, and they took it from there! Not only did the design completely exceed my expectations, but the flavors were perfection! My husband loved it so much he didn’t want to cut into it! Excellent little bakery in Denver. Stopped in to pickup BDay cake and was pleasantly overwhelmed with the variety, colorful, tempting selection of cakes, pastries, treats, and snacks. If not for the pandemic, the space would also be a nice place to enjoy your fresh baked goods. Settled on the Lemon Cream Torte with candied lemons. It was a hit with my fam - not too sweet but bursting with fresh lemon flavor. What I also bought: mini tarts - Bananas Foster, Orange Creamsicle, Pink Ladies, and Tiffany Petit Four. All these were fresh, flavorful and memorable. Next time, gotta try the Apricot Grande Marnier torte. In case I wasn't clear, I REALLY LIKE GATEAUX. UPDATE - I ordered the Grande Marnier torte cake and it did not disappoint. Decoration was flawless and flavors were terrific.

I’m convinced this is the best bakery in the Denver metro area. We ordered our wedding cake and a variety of mini desserts for our wedding day, and everything was delicious! All the guests commented on how incredible the desserts were, and on top of that Gateaux was so accommodating and friendly even though we called them SO many times leading up to the day. I’ll be getting all my birthday and event desserts here from now on.

Gateaux did our wedding cake. We got married August 2020 when COVID made everything uncertain so I was very late in finding a bakery for our wedding. Gateaux happily made us a small wedding cake for cutting and provided a larger round cake for the rest of the guests (~75 total). The cakes tasted amazing and were very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this bakery!

Gateaux is my favorite bakery in Denver, hands down. Their treats can't be beat and the staff is incredibly friendly. Just a couple of the many reasons it was a no-brainer to go with them for our wedding cake. Michelle (the owner) made the cake design process super fun and informative. She was also super communicative with both our reception venue and our friend who picked up the cakes on how to transport, set up, and keep them looking their best day-of. She takes what she does seriously and it shows. The key lime cake we ordered was my favorite — and our guests went HAM on the mini vegan chocolate cupcakes we had ordered for our food allergy friends. 10/10 would recommend.

Gateaux Bakery does not just make delicious and gorgeous cakes, cookies, etc, they offer impeccable, genuine, and warm customer service. I am a U.S. military officer, stationed overseas with family in Denver. I've emailed/called Gateaux several times to place orders for my parents. Patiently and graciously the team answers my questions and creates cake combinations and decorations perfectly in line with my ideas. Not being present with my loved ones for special occasions and holidays, I can rely on Gateaux's works of heart and love to fill a piece of the void for all of us. Yummy! Customer service is above par. Friendly yet professional. So many good things. Every person I spoke to said I can't go wrong. That everything is amazing. I got a decorated shortbread cookie. It was delicious. Crumbly but not too crumbly. I got a pistachio cream puff. It was filled with just the right amount of pastry cream. I got a chocolate mousse cake. No I have to be honest here. The sign said chocolate mousse NOT chocolate mousse cake. It is delicious. Creamy and flavorful. Would be amazing layered in a chocolate cake. I really want to go back and try the chocolate croissant.

I have ordered from Gateaux three times now, twice for birthdays (one which was gluten-free) and for my wedding, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Not only do they have the best cake-pops around, but their decorating skills always amaze me. On top of all of that, for our wedding anniversary this year, my mom called all the way from Indiana requesting they make the exact same cake as they did for our wedding and send it to her as a surprise, and they did!! Couldn't ask for a better Denver bakery. (P.S. the flowers were added to our wedding cake by our florist Lumme Creations)

If you love decadently done pastries, this is your place! I was just looking through Google Maps to find a sweet breakfast pastry and some coffee and found this place, Gateaux. The staff was really sweet 😁 and helped me pick a cookie to go with my tea and some mini-cakes to share. I love cake, but I am super particular about frosting. Gateaux has perfected their frosting game. It was perfect! The seats in the shop are adorable and comfy enough to conduct an interview, or work for a while on your laptop. I will be back again soon. A delightful, little shop, with very fancy gateaux!

Michele (owner, business woman, baker, and incredible artist) at Gateaux created our amazing 3-layer wedding cake for our recent May wedding. It was a relatively small event, but I am grateful that we nearly doubled the size of the cake from what Michele originally recommended, as our guests enjoyed both flavors (almond cake with apricot filling and chocolate with 3 kinds of chocolate filling). The cake itself was moist, flavorful, and fabulous! Truly one of those memorable wedding cakes! But it was also beautiful! Michele personally delivered and carefully assembled the layers of our cake right on location. She then adorned it with a swirl of live blooms. The end result was an extraordinary work of art! It was the centerpiece of the room and absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend Gateaux Bakery for any occasion cake as well as for their amazing frosted tea cookies and pastries. They are consistently wonderful!

Despite living nearby to this gem, it took me a couple years to get here and I am kicking myself for the years I missed out! The owner (I believe is who I met) was absolutely delightful! I found another PSL lover and found out I can get them year round at Gateux. That in itself is newsworthy. But the baked good are the showstopper. I've never seen such beautiful treats, and they taste as good as they look! My partner and I each picked about 4 smaller items out each and they were the perfect pick me up every day during the week. The chocolate ball with filling was my favorite, and my partner said it was the best carrot cake they'd ever had. I cannot recommend this shop enough, and I absolutely plan on getting mine and my partners birthday cakes from here from now on!

Delicious! We ordered this cake for my dads birthday and it turned out not only beautiful, but delicious. The gold leaves turned out to be white chocolate and the cake was overall so classy and lovely. We ordered carrot cake (dad’s favorite) and it was AMAZING. Not too sweet at all. It was a 4 layered cake and the icing/cake is perfectly proportioned. VERY happy about this purchase!

This review isn’t based on the quality of their products, rather the experience we just had. When we were pregnant with our first, we stopped into Gateaux straight from our doc’s office with the gender of our baby in an envelope and asked for two cupcakes with the color of the gender inside. The girl was so cute, sweet, and excited for us at the time that she made our day. Now, pregnant with our second, we just stopped back in straight from the doctor, envelope in hand, excited for the same experience. To our disappointment when we asked for two cupcakes, we were told, “oh honey no, it’s Mother’s Day weekend, that’s impossible without an order.” No congratulations, or thanks for coming back in after we explained why we were back. We left deflated and confused at the ask of two cupcakes from a bakery being so outrageous when they were so accommodating in the same situation prior. Bummed and disappointed, we just left, envelop still in hand.

Gateaux Bakery provided exactly what we were looking for in a small cutting cake for our wedding. Originally, we had only intended it for the wedding party, but it served a surprisingly large amount of cake that our guests appreciated in addition to our dessert bar. The almond semi-naked cake was excellent in both style and flavor. Gateaux, also, was incredibly helpful in packaging and delivering the cake to our wedding coordinator, who took it to our venue, where it arrived safe and sound despite the two-hour drive.

These talented ladies really can bring make whatever idea you want. This places rocks! We did a custom order of petite fours and cookies for a baby shower which exceeded expectations. The treats were not only beautifully crafted but also tasted delicious! I can't believe I haven't done this already. Gateaux is a wonderful place run by wonderful people who care about enriching your event with beautiful and flavor. They have created a number of custom cakes for me (see photos). Every single one has been exceptional and something guests continue to talk about. More recently, I walked in with a plan and no idea how to make it happen. The baker who assisted me knew what to do immediately. No matter if I'm making a custom order or quickly running in for some mini deserts Gateaux never disappoints.

All I can say is get the little chocolate mousse cake. It is like eating a little bit of heaven. The mousse was so light and just perfect. We also had the pumpkin maple loaf. The texture was perfect so light and airy. The flavors were excellent. Not to much spice like so many people overdo with pumpkin things. Go to this bakery. You won't regret it.

I had the best experience with Gateaux! Michelle personally took care of my custom cupcakes for my mother's birthday. I explained to her that my mother had been taking care of me during my battle against cancer and I wanted to do something special to show my appreciation. My husband and I were looking for a great bakery for our wedding and narrowed down our choices to three places. When we had our tasting at Gateaux, it was amazing! Michelle was friendly, knowledgeable and so personable. The whole experience was so great that we decided to go with them. The flavors we samples were so delicious - our wedding cake became the apricot grand marnier flavor (something I would have never chosen for myself) because of how fantastic it was. The whole process was fun for everyone involved. We ultimately ended up doing a personal cake for us and cupcakes for the guests at our reception. Everything arrived on time and looked phenomenal! Michelle was able to vary the icing designs so we could distinguish between the flavors we selected. And the frosting was like eating air - so light, fluffy, not too sweet, just amazing. The cake was just as great. Everyone loved it - it was exactly what I had envisioned. We are so happy we went with Gateaux. We got to experience new things and they made the whole process up from the tasting to the actual day go so easy. I could not recommend them enough. :)

I like the idea and mission of this bakery. The shop is really nice too and they have plenty of wonderful artists and decorators. I ordered a quite pricey cake for my sister's birthday this past February. It was beautiful and tasty, but it seemed to be double frosted. As we cut into it, there was a thick layer of white frosting and then the layer of outer blue frosting. This made it tremendously sweet. It was way too thick to be a crumb coat and this meant less of the actual cake. We purchased some other smaller items like cake pops and cookies and none of them were over the top delicious like I'd expect.

I think Gateaux is hands down the best bakery in Denver. The cakes are gorgeous and more importantly they are DELICIOUS. The cakes from other bakeries sometimes look comparable but they have never tasted as good as the cakes we get from Gateaux. DANGEROUSLY GOOD. Anyway, we have gone to Gateaux for a decade or more and I've never once had a bad experience, customer service or otherwise. I wouldn't go anywhere else. We have gotten my daughter's birthday cake at Gateaux for every birthday she has ever had and I'm not about to change now. Its a tradition.

I went to Gateaux (=Cakes) first time in June, It is a humble bakery shop, but I had a good feeling, so I took a chance and went for a whole New York Cheese Cake for my lady's birthday, I think it was about $45 which is not bad - and I must tell you, she and the guests loved it, everyone asked where I got it. I am a huge fan of cheese cakes and I can honestly swear that the cheese cake was fabulous, the rich, wholesome ingredients they used were for sure top quality ingredients - all went together well, the decoration on it, too, were cool! Thanks for a wonderful cake, I am glad I went there! Oh! I wanted to add that, the manager there, not sure her name was super helpful, not sure her name but apparently she bakes, too! Went in again yesterday Nov. 26th when it was all nasty and cold out (12”of snow), was surprised the bakery was opened for business (very dedicated - I love it). So I got this rich chocolate Cake with a hat decorative piece on it - the cake was flourless and is to die for!! I got a few other little minis and my family all had one and the looks on their faces made me happy I went back to Gateaux! It is the love for baking that made all their art work so scrumptious and wonderful! Thanks guys!! Keep up the great work of art!! Fast forward to June 2020 — of course I came back! For yet another birthday cake! Fabulous!! I ordered something with a blend of Sacher Torte with a layer of I think, Belgian mouse?! And ganache’, definitely awesome!! Everyone loved it!! The outer layer is blue and I cannot recall what it was made out of but it was absolutely marvelous!! I could go on! Chefs at Gateaux must love what they do, is really shows!!❤️ Thanks for your hard work, we love everything you’ve made for us for the past 4 years!! See more pics!

A huge thanks to Michelle and her team who saved my mom's 70th birthday cake! After picking up the cake from Gateaux, the wind blew the cake out of my hands and onto the street on the way to my car. I rushed back into the store where Michelle and team were able to salvage the cake in less than a half hour! The cake looked better than the first time and they didn't even charge for the extra work! The cinnamon roll without the white frosting is one of the best in the country. I can say that because I sample cinnamon rolls on all of my travels. The dough is the perfect flaky moist sweet consistency with just the right amount of gooey sticky cinnamon. I like this one too because it's not a big fat roll. They are very short which is what gives them the perfect balance of crunchy edge to moist and sticky center. Also, the petit-fours are amazing treats! Great for parties and housewarming gifts.

I've been going to this place for over 4 years now and I absolutely love it. They have a very large selection of cakes/tortes and pastries to choose from. Everything is crafted from scratch and you can taste the hard work that went into each created item. I myself have had the pleasure of tasting many of their cookies and sweet breads, tiramisu, strawberry poppy seed cakes, and my personal favorite (which has kept us coming back for the last 4 years), the white chocolate peach torte. You have to try this torte, as any words I have to describe it would pale in comparison to the actual taste and texture of this awesome creation. So if you are looking for a cake/torte you should go to Gateaux, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the desserts there. Just wanted to say a quick word about a few of the negative reviews/comments posted here. One, all the people working there have been very kind and courteous to me, both there and on the phone and I've never felt anyone has been rude in any sort of way. Second, anyone complaining about the price ought to just go to safeway or kingsoopers and buy a cake there (I've indulged in my fair share of supermarket cakes, which does the job just fine, it just doesn't satisfy my over top cravings that I get from time to time). At Gateaux and for that matter any specialty bakery, it is quality over quantity and it is very apparent once you try it. Anyway, try a torte and enjoy!

Ran into a bit of a pickle yesterday - we were having a birthday party and the bakery I had ordered a cake from dropped the ball. No cake. On my way home to deliver the bad news to my wife I decided to stop into Gateaux with the hope that they'd have something prepared that everyone could enjoy. Ended up getting a "rainbow" cake and it was fantastic. By the end of the evening I was stealing bites off of other peoples' plates because I couldn't get enough of the frosting and the slices were quickly disappearing. I had a piece for breakfast today.
