It’s definitely that time of the year again! In my opinion, this is the best Italian ice/lemonade you can get in Chicago 🍧! Not overpoweringly sweet, but all the flavors are there, making you happy each sip. I usually go for the lemon one but today I tried a medium with watermelon & raspberries…so happy I followed their recommendations 🥰 Staff members are nice too, and I truly recommend you give them a try in Little Italy!

It's nice to see something from your childhood still there.We got there at a good time there was no line yet and it still was parking on the Street close. We ordered two small cups of one of pina colada and the other one was passion fruit, guava and orange they put the acronym PGO it was good it was delicious actually refreshing it was hot yesterday close to 100° with the humidity

These folks really know how to remind you of what summer time Chicago feels like. Great service and delicious blends of authentic Italian Ice Lemonde! My only complaint is that they’re only open a few months out of the year. We’re going to miss you guys! See ya next year!

This place is amazing and feels like your favorite childhood lemonade stand!! A must if you’re in Chicago during the summer. Made with real fruit and includes fruit chunks. All the flavors are sooo good especially the peach, mango, pomegranate, grapefruit, watermelon, and lychee. Can get 2 flavors in one cup. I worked here for a summer and still come here as a customer years later. Lines down the block during summer days (they go extremely fast though)- the hype is real!

A must have during summer time in Chicago! The frozen lemonade here are to die for! So fresh and unique. I had the pasión fruit lemonade and I left wanting more. There are chunks on lemons in the drink and also fresh fruit which adds more flavor. Their menu is lengthy which gives you chances to come back and try something new each time.

A simple classic! No frills summer treat with a variety of flavors. I had blue raspberry my wife strawberry. No tables so you have to get creative which is the club of it. Line moves fast

Just amazing! So, so, so delicious and refreshing. First time but definitely going back. The best Italian lemonade I've ever tried. So flavorful and rich in fruit. Without the artificial flavors that so many others use to have. Actuality it even brings some passion fruit seeds, what is really good. And the menu is just awesome with so many different flavors.

Walked here from downtown - over a 3 mile distance and took about an hour. The walk was very easy and the nice. The spot is near the UIC Campus, so a lot of people walking around and generally busy. The stand itself is a small storefront and there was a line when we got there but it moves quickly. There are several flavors, some seasonal and most year round. We tried a few of the interesting ones, including Guava, Lychee and Green Apple. Despite not being a huge Italian Ice fan, I would say all the flavors were very good with each of us in the group ranking them in different order - but all of us liking every flavor. Definitely recommended, specially if you like Italian Ice!

My grandfather turned me on to this one of a kind stand back in the 60's when he lived blocks from here. Now that I am too a dinosaur and live away...it's a incredible thirst quencher during the summer. Today...I broke from my usual chocolate flavor and tried the watermelon and it blew my brain away. I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Mario across the street. We chatted for 15-20 mins. I felt so honored to meet a real down to earth guy. The only place in this city to get this fabulous treat.

I like almost all of the flavors here. I like the way they put pieces of fruits in the ice. Last time, I got Green Apple flavor, and turns out that it had some artificial color in it. So, I won't be getting that flavor again, but other flavors are good. 1. Lime 2. Watermelon 3. Pomegranate 4. Cantaloupe

LOVE this place!!! Anytime of the year! in the Summer there is always a huge line but the line goes really fast and it's worth the wait! My fav is lemon its not sweet and tart which I love!! I also like the watermelon! They have a good variety of flavors and you can mix them too. They used 100% natural juice so that's always a PLUS!! Also there is no seats, to go and cash only! # 1 Italian Lemonade in CHICAGO !!!

I have tried several Italian Lemonade stands around the Chicago area. No other place even remotely close to the taste, or experience. The staff is always helpful, and friendly. Their late hours are great because sometimes you just have to feed that unique craving. I highly recommend a visit to this business, I promise you will enjoy it.

This place has an amazing product. My first visit was this 6-27-2022. My wife and I have been interested for a while and finally paid a visit. I was extremely pleased with my lemonade. The flavors I chose were recommended by an employee and it was delicious. This was much more than I expected. I'm so glad we stopped by. I will have to stop by maybe 3 or 4 more times this summer.

We have been coming to Mario's Italian lemonade stand for many, many years. It's actually flavored ice in a cup! They have been in the same location since 1954, and it's still the best place to go for Italian Ice in Chicago. They are only open from late spring to early fall, so make sure you visit when you can. They have about a dozen different flavors, and some of our favorites are cantaloupe, watermelon and pomegranate. Try a combination of two flavors like cantaloupe and watermelon or pomegranate and watermelon, you will not be disappointed. It's cash only, so be prepared the prices are $2 for a small $3 for a medium $4 for a large and $5 for an extra large. On a hot summer day there's really long lines, but they usually have three to four young people working there and the lines move quickly. It's a Chicago tradition and I highly recommend you try it!

My favorite sweater treat in the city. I count down the days in the winter until they open. This summer the POG (passion fruit, orange and guava) and the mango were my favorite. Don’t worry about a long line it moves fast.

The best! No better spot to go and get ice. Grandparents have been bringing the family there for 40+ years! They say not much has changed, except the price. Take a look at the pictures I uploaded. That is a pretty standard line on a hot summer night. That being said... they are pretty fast and I believe we waited a total of 10 minutes before being served. I always bring out of towners that are looking for a "Chicago experience", as this is just that and is always a big hit. Hope it stays around for my grandkids!

BEST ITALIAN ICE IN THE CITY OF CHICAGO!!! They have a variety of flavors. Always been the best place in town. If you're a person that likes natural, not too sweet, not too sour italian ice, this place is for you! I think every flavor (that I have at least tried) has natural real lemon slices! I would recommend you to try out the Orange flavor(delicious), Pomegrante flavor (if in season) and of course the Lemon flavor and or Lime flavor! Go check this historic place out!! Awesome place! It's great how they include fruit in the ice, and provide pretty good portions. I got lime and pomegranate, and the amount of fruit in it was phenomenal. You can see it's a great place from that huge line on a summer evening!

Have been coming here for years. Always consistent. Lines are long, however they move fast. Parking is a challenge, they take credit and debit cards. Tons of flavors to choose from, you can mix them as well!! Definitely recommend a visit!

My favorite Italian ice of all time anywhere! Many, if not most flavors have some chunks of lemon in them. The watermelon has giant watermelon chunks and is super refreshing! Try out the lupini if you haven't been brave enough. Just pop them out of their outer shell and eat them like peas from a pod! Delicious!

Their customer service remains at tip top shape, the line moves pretty quick, and it is still so clean! I’ve been coming here since the late 90’s. It will always hold a special memory to me.

Fruit cocktail is my favorite. I love eating the lemon rind in it. I try to go as often as possible during the summer months. Cash only, yesterday was a Thursday and I was there around 2:30 pm and no line. Later in the day or evening expect a crowd. It is worth the wait.

Picked up the lemon flavor. I love sour flavors and this was all i wanted. You could see all the lemon zest in there and a piece of lemon at the end. Loved it, sure will be back for other flavors.

I've been coming here since I was little. ❤️ This place is always good. I love all of the flavors, and you can mix flavors together too to get the perfect flavor combo. We ordered the lychee and strawberry, pineapple and lime, lemon and lime, and the pina colada. We all loved ours. If you're able to make it during the season, definitely try it out. There was a long line, but the workers keep that line moving. We waited for maybe 5 minutes max.

I enjoyed my first italian ice in Chicago at this place. The italian ice is made with fresh fruit and no added sugar. The employees were helpful and efficient. My order was done in less than two minutes. On Saturdays, the best time to visit is between noon and 2pm. I would highly recommend this place for authentic italian ice in Chicago.

The italian ice is different than other places has small pieces of fruit and taste very good thats what separates them from other places. I wonder if this place is popular because of nostalgia, novelty, or the lack of competition in the neighborhood. I tried a fruit flavored ice and thought it didn't have much taste, so I got a lemon version, thinking it would be more robust. Basically, what they make tastes like sugar on ice, with a bit of vague flavoring. I don't think it's a big deal, though it's nice to have something cold on a hot day.

Cash only, usually crowded, but service is fast. We all got banana and chocolate - but for some reason my friend found lemon rinds in his. Not exactly like the chocolate ices I grew up with, but finding chocolate as a flavor in itself is so rare. It was a well enjoyed treat on a hot summer day. Thanks Mario's!

It’s definitely today, today was was the perfect time this! everyone i talked to and asked for the best Italian ice they always say Mario's Italian Lemonade, located in little Italy. I once saw a man bringing to a party buckets of this Italian ice. I never understand the hype, until today. It was a beautiful chilly evening in Chicago. I was craving something sweet to end this lovely day we had and I knew we were close by to one of Chicago wonders. Upon our arrival we were greeted with so much kind and love. They asked me what i wanted but so much to choose from They have all kinds of flavors watermelon, raspberries, banana, cherry... but just like you guys know me, I order their signature frozen dessert. The lemonade Italian Ice and let me tell you, it was a home run. The first bite of the fluffy and soft lemon flavor ice, melted on my mouth covering all my taste buds with astonishment and mesmerizing thoughts making me happy with each sip. Why does it felt like they brought the ice from the top of Königspitze mountain in Italy. If you are a local or a tourist and you are looking for something new I would truly recommend it and i promise you won’t be disappointed! This is one of our must have summer time treats! No wonder this place is so iconic for the city of Chicago.

Definitely is a summertime go to. I love this place they literally have the best Italian Ice with so many delicious flavors. This is a place you will most definitely want to stop at especially if you love Italian Ice. They never disappoint although the only thing I can say that I don’t like is the paper cups!!!!!! Not that durable for long periods of time. They should definitely invest in better cups. Great service. Great business.

If you LOVE Italian Ice then this place is a MUST VISIT IN CHICAGO!!! My mother has been visiting for years. I had them for the first time and fell in love. There is a citrus surprise in everyone of my cups! The flavors are authentic and ingredients are flavorful not to sweet, yet refreshing. I think they changed the texture of the ice, but that's fine with me. If you're going for a, "basic" flavor. Lemon, orange are the best taste testers. Trust me you'll try more.

It's a shame I was so full when I passed this place by, cause the ice I shared with my friend was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten - absolutely delicious and refreshing. I will be back when it gets warmer to fully enjoy the experience on a slightly emptier stomach. There's also a great feeling of community here: the owner lives next door to the stand and gave us a very warm welcome. Would rate more than 5 stars if I could.

It's Mario's for God's sake... I have been going there for 35 plus years. Its still the same... GREAT!!!! Lots of different flavors. It's not frozen solid like the stuff you get from the grocery store frozen section. Its similar to a snow cone but so so much better. Had my favorite flavor... Watermelon... We went early enough in the day so not only did we not have to wait in line we were able to park right in front of Mario's. The parking and no line may be due to Covid-19 or just that it was a Saturday morning.

I do like the fact that there was pieces of fresh fruit inside, but still a bit sour and watery. Not something I would go out of my way for. The frozen yogurt down the street is a much better option.

Amazing! I got the pomegranate flavor and I must say it was amazing!! I really enjoyed it. The best way to describe it is it's like a lemonade slurpee/melted snowcone. I enjoyed it a lot and will recommend to friends. Only reason I am giving it 4 out of 5 is because the portions are so small! It would've been better if they gave more. But business is business.

It's Italian ice - how good can it be? You have to check it out yourselves. On hot summer days it's really a perfect refresher. Get the specials because they actually have chunks of fruit unlike the regular ones that are purely flavors from concentrate. Even the flavors are excellent because of the fresh lemon and rind in the ice. Get a medium or large size and you can mix and match flavors. Cash only! 5 stars for being a long running local institution.

Not the businesses fault they are drawing people cause they're so good. The service is great, friendly, prices have gone up over the years but so has inflation! When living in the city was difficult to stay away from this place. Now out in the west burbs. But we ordered our cups and 2 different 1/2 gallon tubs, they packed it in ice and we made it to Roselle and into the freezer no problems...Fuhgeddaboudit!!!! =p My only regret now is why didn't we get 4! ha!

Call me crazy but I love Mario's Italian Lemonade more than ice cream. I've been going here since I was a kid and now I go with my wife. It is a really refreshing treat on a hot summer day. There is always a line but it doesn't take long at all. Don't go if you don't know how to parallel park because parking is limited and tight in the neighborhood. It doesn't matter what flavor(s) you get they are all good. My favorite part of the slushy lemonades are the lemon zests in them. They are kind of chewy and the sour flavor complements the sweetness of the flavor you choose. Going here is a true Chicago tradition.

Open seasonally, city classic. All the Italian ice flavors have a base made of lemon and then they add the respective flavor. Peach only comes at the end of the season and is well worth the wait. Never had the lupini beans, will need to give that a try eventually.

The lemonade is so freakin good. If ur reading this to figure out whether u should go, just go get some already. They have a bunch of flavors (u can mix) and it comes with chunks of fresh fruit, so ur not gonna be drinking some cheap lemonade with an overpowering artificial taste. Cash only, don’t forget. As for the area, I saw one reviewer mention that it’s “not exactly safe” but I wouldn’t say it is unsafe either. On a nice sunny day, Mario’s is packed, people are out walking, Al’s beef is across the street — I have never felt unsafe.

It's literally a wooden stand in the middle of a street and it's perfect! It's only $2 for a cup of the most amazing shaved ice you'll ever have. Have been going here for years and will continue to go. I take my kids now because it's a family tradition. There is no other place like this in Chicago or suburbs. I live in the northwest suburbs and will get the urge for some Mario's at 10 at night, I'll jump in my car with my kids for the 45 min hual and will wait in the packed line. That's how good it is!!! You'll always see a prominent figure of Chicago there. You're missing out if you haven't tasted Mario's. It's a staple of Chicago!!!
