Wonderful place like a French Patisserie with an American Twist! The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff welcoming. The savory biscuits ( scones to us from across the pond) are a great way to start your day. Warm and delicious 😋 Breadworks serve a variety of breakfasts, lunches and snacks throughout the all healthy and hard to chose from. Danish pastries, cookies and amazing Monkey bread the size of a mammoth 🦣 tooth all so tempting and tasty! If you like real bread this is the place to come! Freshly baked farm 🍞 bread, sourdough, multigrain and baguettes. Plus other varieties not mentioned here. When it's warm I can't resist it and have to eat some on the way 🏡 home. Breadworks is conveniently located for the many local hospitals and the VA clinics. With its early opening hours it is a great place to pop in to collect your breakfast on the go. Or like us sit down for breakfast before your clinic appointment. I heartily recommend Breadworks for the welcoming folks the great coffee ☕️ wonderful pastries and the best bread around.

A wonderful bread & bakery shop in a rustic simplistically decorated location right across from the VA Hospital. Everything was fresh, delicious and the coffee was strong. The pricing was also very reasonable. Will be back!

I frequent this bakery about once a month to treat myself to coffee and a pastry, but I met a friend here for lunch last week. We had such a nice time, and the wait staff were so friendly! I got the pizza slice of the day, which was actually 2 slices, a latte, and a cream cheese danish! Everything was so fresh and well-made. The two women that helped me and were so kind were Savannah and a shorter, blonde woman with bangs whose name I didn’t catch. Only catch to this location is that there is only street parking available.

Such a great place! The smell of fresh bread greets you before entering. The staff are friendly and service is fairly fast. The items are all freshly baked and more delicious than any other bakery in the area. I'll return for sure. Wish I'd known of this place sooner!

Awesome place!! Wonderful people! Deliciously fresh bread, cakes, pastries, great sandwiches and even unique pizzas served at lunch. They even roasted fresh coffee on site!! What more could you ask for?! If you like fresh breads and cakes, you have to visit BBW!!!

This is a great spot for bread/pastries, a quick breakfast, or even a bite to eat for lunch. Plenty of space to sit inside or out and it’s located in a really cool old building on the south side of downtown. My wife and I come here regularly now!

Some of the most delicious carbs in Birmingham. The morning pastries are outstanding but my favorite time to go is at lunch. The pizza of the day (2 slices with a half salad) is one is the best deals around. They do a meat version and a veggie version. And their egg salad sandwich is simply great. Go soon.

Birmingham Breadworks makes some of the best bread and pastries around. I am a huge fan. twice a month I stop in to buy pastries for my team. Today after my normal order of 12 pastries, I ask the server to add one monkey bread to my order. She informed me that I am only allowed to buy 12 pastries. She would no budge on this seemingly random policy and would not allow a very loyal and frequent customer to purchase one more pastry. It was a crazy experience. Very disappointed in the customer service...

First, the fresh baked baguette is amazing! Smacked on that back to Florida! Grabbed a caramel macchiato but the cashier was very clueless when it came to sugar. I asked for 2 Splenda and she said they didn’t have it (which is surprising). She said they had regular sugar which was fine. She then came as I waited to tell me they had a sugar substitute, not sugar? It was so much ‘sugar’ drama when she works there. Cute cafe that’s spacious and open. Food/sandwiches coming from the kitchen looked amazing!

Decent bakery, especially love their sourdough bread and walnut pies. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but if I'm downtown then I'll usually park a few blocks over and walk to the bakery.

One of the best bakeries in town, if not the best. The pastries they make are fantastic - the taste and texture are spot on, make sure to try the Nutella pastry! And the breads are amazing, I like the sourdough and farm breads especially. Service is friendly and quick. They even sell chilled wine if you're looking to have a picnic and have local eggs for sale as well. I haven't dined in but all their prepared food looks good as well.

Amazing fresh-baked bread and pizza and delicious sandwiches. I recommend the garlic sourdough, it has whole cloves of garlic baked into it and it is divine. The Vulcan Veggie sandwich is one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had, delicious portobello mushroom, mozzarella, and spinach on a fluffy bun. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is really relaxed. There's also a lot of seating available so even when it's busy there's still a place to eat.

Just had breakfast at the Breadworks. The pastries are fantastic! We ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was really good too. Great breakfast atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

I bought so many different savory items of bread because they all looked absolutely phenomenal. Everything I ate was spectacular. I will give special mention of their garlic bread. This loaf had glorious pockets of whole garlic cloves and it was the most delightful bread I've ever had.

I heard about this place from a friend just before Thanksgiving and now I'm completely hooked!!! Everything is delicious. I love the farm bread (and they will slice it for you) and the sour dough. I love their homemade frozen biscuits (hint, bake them at a slightly lower temperature to get a higher fluffy rise). Recently, I tried their coconut cake, so delicious and, most importantly not too sweet! Love the croissants and their dinner rolls. If you want to get a load of bread you have to come before noon, because they will sell out!

After visiting the farmers market, my daughter always wants to drop by Bhm Breadworks for a fresh baguette. She breaks a piece off as we walk out of the store. Try the parmesan pepper loaf this week and it was delicious.

Great place to have a coffee but ALL their breads are made with 'wheat' flour including their sourdough and rye breads. Their breads are very expensive so I was disappointed when I found out they are selling breads that aren't what they say they are. BW should be more transparent to their clients about the ingredients..

My only complaint is they are not open on Sundays otherwise I would find a way to give them six stars. I ate a croissant with ham from there yesterday and w every portion of the croissant was crafted to do a taste bud just right. Fresh, flaky crunch, had a buttery flavor and the ham didn't over power and was portioned just right on the inside. Would show pictures however I consumed it quicker then expected and was upset I didn't buy an additional one.

Food is excellent. Connections to local farms so they offer fresh eggs and microgreens, etc. Reasonably priced. And now they serve wine and beer! My coffee date evolved into a sparkling wine celebration with fresh local strawberries. Highly recommend!

Great choice for a breakfast or lunch. I usually get a pastry but they have several heartier breakfast options. Soup/sandwich/salad for lunch - fresh, local, and tasty. Grab a loaf of fresh bread while you're there - their sourdough is the best I've ever had!

I'm really kicking myself today, as I've lived in the city for over a year and have somehow never been here before. Absolutely fantastic little bakery. My coworkers and I came here for lunch, and I ended up getting a spread of their items to try it out. I went with their daily pizza for my meal, which was divine. 3 cheese, crust with fantastic chew, and great price. Also had to pick up a pastry, so I went with the Nutella Danish - buttery, crispy, and Nutella. Amazing. However, the real reason I tagged along for lunch today was to see how their baguette game was. I'm in love. *Excellent* chew, great flavor, perfect rise, and only $4. There is absolutely no doubt I'll be back!

They also sell excellent pizza by the slice, but you have to come early or else you will get left out. If you come late what ever they have left will be good.,,,

I can't get enough of their pastries. I go every Saturday and stock up for the weekend to feed friends and family. My favorite is the ham and cheddar croissant and the cinnamon roll. They are fantastic.

Wow, I tell ya. I stopped by to pick up lunch for my Mom , daughter and myself and it was awesome . My mom and I shared so we could try all. Enjoyed the roasted tomato soup, wasn't overwhelming with the smoke flavour and the salad had these wonderfully toasted seasoned sugared pecans, berries, mixed greens, blue cheese, and house dressing. Also the Reuben sandwich was awesome . Grabbed the olive loaf on the way out and it didn't last long. It had the perfect crust on the out side and calamata olives throughout. The young lady behind the counter was really sweet.

Staff was very friendly. We ordered the tomato soup, egg salad sandwich, and Nutella danish. All of the food was fresh and delicious. We got our sandwich on their in-house multigrain and it was delicious and fresh. Great lunch spot with both awesome service and food.

When we left France last summer after having three months of freshly baked bread- it was a pretty tough transition UNTIL we discovered this great bakery just down the road from us! Bham Breadworks has been supplying us with beautiful loaves once a week usually bouncing between sourdough, rye and the occasional baguette. My favorite grab and go breakfast is the avocado toast at a modest price point- always toasted to perfection with a side of that peppery olive oil, nothing else is needed! My only critique to be fair is on the pastry end- let the techniques and quality be enough to let the ingredients shine through and please don't drizzle a glaze on every little thing. Drizzle belongs on a danish and not much else :) Beautiful bake on every single item thought!

This was a great place to stop in for breakfast. I got the ham and cheese croissant, rosemary monkey bread and fruit cream cheese danish. All were great and larger portions. It's a little pricey but we'll worth the extra cost for the quality you get.

Pretty good but not amazing. Baguettes were rock hard after a day. Croissants come close to what you’d expect industrially in Europe. Really like the conecuh biscuit though!

Nice place to sit and relax. I had the Brunswick Stew and it was very tasty. Brooks was my cashier. Very friendly and helpful. Clean bathroom was a plus. Don't get to b'ham much but it was close to VA hospital and was recommended by a local. I will be dining there again on return trips.

OMG!! Fresh baked goods made.from scratch. From desserts cookies or croissants to pizza and sammiches!! Get there early they close at 530 pm and are sold out by 3pm!! Tou just may get a cookie and they may havebsome.fresh veggies from the garden .. I got fresh kale greens today!!

Finally some great, affordable bread in downtown Birmingham. The sandwiches, pizzas, and the limited variety of pastry are all good, but the bread is what makes this a great place. Breadworks sells bread with rich grain flavor, sourdough tang or yeast aroma, with doughy chewiness, and a real crust. Breads of substance and sustenance, breads you can break and share with friends and family or simply sink your teeth in and devour on the way home. I have to hold back on the 5th star until they offer pumpernickel, German rolls, or hand over their monkey bread recipe :-)

Buy all my bread at Birmingham Breadworks! I have been going since they opened. You can call in your order for holidays or certain days that they may run out. They do offer different breads on different days - get their schedule and plan. It freezes great!
