We started our experience with Midnight Sun Cakery back in April 2020. The quarantine cake was the perfect 'just because' pick me up for me and my fiancee. Since then they've been my go to for special occasion desserts. The communication is always prompt, usually via email. The cakes are always a hit, and even the semi custom cakes are beautifully decorated. The only suggestion I have is a bit of updating to the online order form, I was able to order a cake that they no longer offered, thanks to their great communication they let me know and we changed the cake no problem.

Midnight Sun Cakery was fantastic to work with. We did a cake tasting on the fly and she did that for us with no complaints. Super friendly and such a hard-worker. Our cake came out beautifully and just like she sketched on paper. The texture and taste was to die for! Let’s just say I keep thinking about how fantastic it was and wish I could have another bite! Anita and her team are amazing! Everyone at our wedding RAVED about our desserts. We had no cupcakes, parfaits, or cake tacos left at the end of the night, and received so many compliments on how delicious everything was. Guests also noted that they were too scared to cut into our cake because it was so beautiful! We loved everything about it!

I went to see Anita with a very vague idea of what I wanted for a cake and she gave amazing suggestions and really understood what I was going for. The cake tasted absolutely incredible and we had 4 different kinds of cupcakes that were equally as great. She did an amazing job setting the cake/cupcakes up for us and made the process quick and easy. She was also very willing to help us accommodate a dairy allergy so everyone could enjoy the cake! It was an amazing experience working with Anita and I would definitely do it again.

I wanted to do something special for my sisters birthday and Midnight Sun Cakery delivered! I live across the country and I really wanted to make sure I could spoil her with some goodies, after finding MSC and looking through their Instagram page at their beautiful cakes I knew it was settled. I got her the fancy layer cake in the combo lemon and lavender and she loved it! Said the cake was magical and was definitely surprised! About 6 months prior to our June 2016 wedding, my mom and I met with Anita at Midnight Sun Cakery for a cake tasting consultation. Not only was our meeting with Anita very professional and a lot of fun but we also both left the meeting talking about how it was the BEST cake we had ever had! The consistency was perfection. We got a 4 tier cake (each tier a different flavor) and an extra sheet cake to ensure we had more pieces of cake than guests and there was not a single piece of cake left over! All our guests raved about how delicious it was. Aside from the cake tasting phenomenal, it was also impressive in its presentation - very pretty! I definitely recommend Midnight Sun Cakery to anyone looking for a tasty and beautiful cake for any type of event. I know my wedding will not be the last time I indulge in that goodness! We got a dessert bar for our wedding which included enough desserts for 150 people (I believe that’s what was advertised, I can’t remember the exact number but I know it was more than our expected guest count of about 110). I love cakes so I was excited for the leftovers, but the desserts were so good that there was not a bite left and the end. Luckily my mom saved the top layer for our anniversary, and I’m so glad she did! It has now been one year since our wedding and we took out the year old cake and I can’t believe how amazing it still is! Ive had cakes from this bakery a few times aside from my wedding, and they are always incredible. A wedding cake was always what I looked forward to most at my wedding, and I was not disappointed! I have gotten custom cakes made from here twice and each time the customer service was amazing and the owner helped tailor the cake to exactly what I needed! And not only do the cakes look amazing they taste amazing and you can tell the ingredients are high quality! This is the only place I will get my cakes from here in anchorage!

This bakery created the MOST AMAZING wedding cake I’ve ever seen! It tasted so good and the detail she put into it was just unbelievable. My family from out of town keeps asking when she’s going to move to the east coast so they can eat more of her pastries. Small local bakery that has so many yummy flavors to choose from, I didn’t even know where to start! The staff was very knowledgeable on helping me narrow down my choices till we found the one. I can’t wait for the next special occasion to order another cake!

Anita baked the amazingly delicious and beautiful cakes we had at our wedding (photo with the sign that says almond euphoria). Everything about working with Anita from the initial contact to tasting to ordering to nearly last minute changes we requested was handled smoothly. The final product was absolutely outstanding; we had a relatively small wedding cake and 4 beautiful side cakes in order to provide 3 different flavors to our guests. The cakes were promptly delivered to our wedding location an hour from Anchorage and perfectly displayed on stands that Anita can provide. Our guests raved about all of the cakes, but especially about the almond joy, which we took the liberty of renaming Almond Euphoria to properly do it justice. Anita does beautiful work that tastes wonderful and goes far beyond the usual boring wedding cake flavor combinations. This is who you want creating and baking for your Anchorage-area wedding. The shop also does cakes for all occasions and they also do certain flavors in a less complicated (but still pretty if less personalized) design on very short notice.

We were so delighted to have our wedding cake designed and made by Midnight Sun Cakery in July 2019. We had a vague idea of the elements we wanted in a cake, and our pirate theme was a bit different, so we wanted to brainstorm with her. A big belief of mine is if someone truly is an artist, they can take your idea, run with it and make it their own. And that is exactly what she did when we went in for a cake tasting/brainstorm! Our cake had 3 separate flavors, and some great detailing. Not everyday do you ask someone to do something you've never seen before and have them pull it off really well! When brainstorming/sketching, just make sure you tell her where you'd like everything, and color schemes; if you do that, it will come out great! The cake tasted amazing, and it looked great. Anita's cakes are so to die for! They literally make tears come out of my eyes as I eat them because they are so delicious! The first time I tried one of her cake's at a friend's wedding, I knew Midnight Sun Cakery was my wedding cake choice. My wife and I had a complicated order of three very different small cakes for our wedding. I must say, they were AMAZING! The taste alone is better than anything you could ever buy from Costco or even get at a fancy restaurant. They were made better than what we had asked for with cute top and side decorations. They gave us a free tasting, had all the details in order, and went over the top to make our cake pretty unforgettable. Not to mention, everyone loved it. I can't wait until we have an excuse to get another one of her cakes!

They had made a cake for my father's retirement, i had no idea how structurally amazing a cake formed into a cargo plane would be. The color was spot on and the cake was audibly spoken about at the party. We had a great variety of people there and not a bad word to be said. Years later Anita, the owner, even recalled my family and recalled their patronage. Small outfit, but big effort into each cake. It's expensive because she hand makes it all and honestly will work through the night to make it happen.

I ordered a personal sized cake for my birthday. For the last two years I haven't had cake at all because I developed Celiac Disease, the one where you can't eat gluten, so I just decided it wasn't worth the trauma of getting sick. Yes, there are gluten free box mixes, but they're all terrible. I was so happy to have Midnight Sun Cakery make my birthday cake this year. It was a gluten free lemon cake with raspberry filling and a chocolate ganache for the frosting. Every bite was a bit of heaven, and the best part was, i didn't get sick afterwards. If you're looking for a delicious gluten free cake, this is place to go.

They lost or just didn't look at the form I sent. After sending them a photo of the cake I liked; they quoted me $100. The cake I got was a cheap version, and not very artful at all - Costco could have done as well. I take part of the blame - I should have realized they weren't organized; there were clues. I also didn't insist exactly on what the picture showed. They did offer a reduced price. But I gave them the $100 anyway - they are gong to need it.
