I enjoy the feeling of working on my vehicle, but don't have my own garage to store tools. At American DIY Garage I have the use of a beautiful, pristine garage that is stocked with the highest quality of tools. The best part about this shop however is the people. Jason and the rest of the crew are the friendliest and most knowledgeable gear heads in the business. They're clearly passionate about their work and about empowering you to learn from their example and complete the work yourself. For me in particular, I couldn't complete many of my desired repairs and upgrades without the expertise of a mentor mechanic like Jason. Not only does he have an infectious passion for cars, but his unique experience with Japanese imports makes him an invaluable resource for any work I'm planning to do on my imported van. You won't find a better equipped or a cleaner shop in the region, and you're unlikely to find better staff anywhere in America. I am a customer for life, and after one visit - you will be too.

Just had first experience with this garage and so impressed with communication when first asking for help, with accommodating a 36 foot, 13 feet tall RV by opening a bay off hours, with cleanliness (really could eat off the floor) and incredible organization and array of tools, and with offering assistance then actually helping get the job done by sharing their technical expertise. Friendly, down to earth and supportive staff. It's such a refreshing but rare feeling to leave any establishment fully satisfied! No one loves their vehicle as much as the owner and for many repairs, if we have the right resources, we can do the best repair (but may take longer than the pros). Highly recommend this gem that provides all that is necessary to do the job right.

I'm currently working away from home and consequently away from all of my tools and garage. This place is like your own personal dealership service center. They have most anything you can possibly need to work on your vehicle. The lift made header install SO mush easier. No bug bites or rain stopping your progress. Great place to work on your vehicle of choice!

Great facility. Super clean, and stocked full of tools. Each bay has its own bench and tool cabinet stocked full of just about anything that you would need. If it isn't in the cabinet, you can check out more specialized tools from the "library." They guys on site are knowledgeable and were able to help this amateur make sense of a transmission repair. They even provided an extra pair of hands when I needed them. I'll definitely be coming back.

I drive a Fiat 500 so many oil change places won’t even bother with my car so I’ve started changing my own oil. Now I rent and the place I currently live doesn’t have space for me to work on my car so I looked this place up. Friendly staff, clean and spacious facility, and all the tools you could possibly need- professional grade, probably better than most normal car owners would have lying around. They provide an awesome service at a reasonable price; will likely return for future “do it yourself” car maintenance!

The DIY garage was a great way to service your own vehicle. My daughter’s car needed the brakes replaced. I have never done this before and I was excited about learning how to do it on my own. The guys at the garage were super helpful when I had questions or they noticed I needed a little guidance. The place was clean and the guys were very professional. I needed to do an oil/filter change on my 2016 GMC canyon diesel - the guys at do it yourself garage we're awesome! My check engine light was on, they ran a diagnostic on it for me at no charge, which was super helpful as it put my mind at ease knowing it was nothing serious. I'm new to VA and have to get a state safety inspection - they took a look at my brakes for me as I wasn't sure they'd pass (still enough life on 'em!). Hate to admit it, but I had trouble initially getting the ratchet to move the oil plug, they helped me out with that too! I will def be going back for any work I need to do (brakes eventually), and highly recommend them. Friendly, courteous, and above all, very helpful!!

Great shop! Had a problem with my subwoofer amp cutting out. With their assistance i was able to identify the problem. Positive wire rubbing against the ground terminal and shorting out. I cant say how much they saved me because a local audio shop wanted me to write a blank check to figure out the problem. 😥 I was sad to hear they are closing in two weeks due to slow business, they will be missed.

First time coming here and it certainly won't be our last! What an amazing place. Better than the others! Clean, friendly, organized, and at a fraction of what you'd pay a shop! 10/5 highly recommend. Even on the hottest day of the year, it was very pleasant working here. Had to order some parts unexpectedly, but they arrived within 20 minutes! Can't beat this place. You've earned customers for life! P.S. I was very impressed by the facilities and staff. It's very clean, spacious and very well stocked. The staff that was there were helpful and gave me the additional tools that I needed that weren't already at the lift. And when I overestimated my ability to install my exhaust on my own provided the little help I needed. They also thankfully, recommended an exhaust leak check that I almost overlooked in my excitement to have completed the install which we we found. I would highly recommend this shop for anyone who wants to work on their car, but don't have the tools or space to do so. The pricing is fair for the use of a great facility. I will definitely return for any work I wanna get done to my car.

Great experience. Very helpful staff. The staff made the whole thing work for me. I drove 4 hours to experience this shop and I don't regret any of the time spent. It was fun, educational, relaxing, and well worth the price. Wayne and Gary are awesome. They made sure my parts were correct before I started. It turned out that I ordered a system that is not compatible with my year vehicle. After a 1/2 hour of troubleshooting, Wayne helped me find a kit that will work and waived the shop fee for the time I spent on the lift. I will be back next week with the correct kit. Not only is their shop super cool, they have everything. The best part is the exceptional knowledge bank. These gentlemen are professional and know their stuff. Wow! This place is awesome. First off the shop itself looks great - the office and the garage are super clean and well kept. Second, the guys there know their stuff and make it quick, easy and safe to get your work done. Third, the garage is thoughtfully equipped with all the tools and supplies like rubber gloves, paper towels and go-jo to get you in and out fast and clean. Great job. Keep it up. After finding out I had to put new brakes on my car, I immediately decided to just change them all completely with new rotors and pads. Unfortunately, I wasn't equipped with all the tools at my small townhouse nor did I have proper jacks and stands that could work for this kind of repair. Luckily, I found American DIY Garage and I was blown away by their facility. To begin, the two gentlemen that were working the day I went were absolutely welcoming, warm, kind, knowledgeable, and super helpful. They not only showed me the entire garage, the set up, and where I could find tools (even those not readily accessible/often used, they have a tool shed/rental area which is incredibly convenient) but they also stayed nearby and checked in periodically to offer help. Dalton, I hope I spelt that correctly, even gave me $2 out of his pocket to buy drinks because I didn't have cash, true customer service (especially on these hot days.) They even offer a lounge area to relax if you want to take a break from working on your car. This place definitely beats getting robbed at an auto shop and if you enjoy working on your own car and want a friendly and inviting place to work, I most definitely recommend this garage! They also have lift bays and non lift bays if you're doing simple jobs. I will be returning again whenever I need to do any more work on my car in the future!

Been here twice now, exceptional service is a understatement with these guys. I came in with a fuel leak and these stand up guys did everything under the sun to get me the parts I needed to proper patch on the punctured line until the official Mercedes part got in...and that was only the first time doing business with them. Their facility is top notch, they're knowledgeable and willing to help no matter the task, the prices ain't bad at all, and they're genuinely good folks. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff (military veterans like me) made it very enjoyable to do repairs to my son's car that saved over $2000 from what a dealer quoted in labor!!! Clean work areas and a well-stocked tool chest at each position made the work so much easier and more efficient than any DIY repair I've ever done, and the staff was kind enough to pitch in and show my son some techniques I didn't even know. The low hourly cost is worth every penny, and the military discount made the deal sweeter! AWESOME!

5 star operation, visited them today for the first time. The facility is huge with many lifts with good spacing to work without being crowded. they have EVERYTHING! all types of tools, jacks, compressed air, electric impacts, you name it! The staff was outstanding and so helpful, super nice people! The shop is clean and a mechanics' paradise basically. They have a great "Chill Room" to take a break and have a cold drink. Really loved using their facility and will be back!!

This DIY garage exceeded my expectations! They have 10 bays with lifts, every tool needed, including hydraulic presses, impact wrenches, cleaning station, and many others. The garage is well organized and clean and easy to use with plenty of space between bays to do your work. I am not a cert mechanic but know the basics...the staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and will lend a hand if needed. I would recommend to anyone! Great service and group of guys!

I’ve been coming to this DIY garage for just under a year and I highly recommend it. It is very convenient for those of us who don’t have a garage and live in an apartment. The guys go above and beyond here to help out when you feel stuck. They are extremely knowledgeable and very hard workers. I have been here to install down pipes, perform subwoofer installation, and even just to put on a new spoiler. If you have an extensive job that you aren’t sure whether you can tackle completely by yourself, I highly suggest stopping here and giving it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

I had the fortunate experience of having to utilize the services at American DIY Garage. My experience could not have been better. I had some major work that I had to do to my vehicle and nowhere to do it. I couldn't afford to pay a shop, so I decided to check out the DIY Garage. At 2 points during my project I ran into some very difficult problems and while I was having a panic attack inside my brain, the staff at the shop instantly realized that I was in a bad spot. Not a single person there refused to give me a hand. All these guys, Dalton, Jason, Wayne and Mark and another fella that was there on Saturday 12/4 did everything they could, from offering great advice to actually stepping in and doing what they could to help me. I was really struggling at a certain point and these guys gave me encouragement and positive feedback which helped me complete this job. I cannot say enough about how I feel about the staff at American DIY Garage. If you have a project and need the place, tools and awesome staff to assist you, please do not estate to go check this place out. I went to American DIYG for the first time yesterday and I can say that it was way better of an experience than I could have imagined. All of the workers were super knowledgeable and helpful. I learned a few things while I was there. Also, I didn't need a single tool. They had everything including a specialty tool to make the job easier. I had a midday and I did have to wait about 25 minutes past my appointment time but that's because they don't kick people off before your work is done. I would have appreciated that if I had been on the other side of that coin. I'll definitely be going back.

Honestly I would give this shop 5 stars except that I can't in all honesty ever give anyone a perfect score. The guys were super helpful and friendly, and way more polite than I had expected walking in. 11/10 would do business again. Any tools I needed that they didn't have in my bays tool chest they had in the tool room. Got my CV axle replaced in 1 hour and 14 minutes. Love this shop. Edit: They took two seconds to write a reply to my review, most businesses I have visited haven't done that. 5th star earned, sir. Edit: Just came back from doing an oil change. Regrettably I didn't take pictures during my visit but the photos on maps are spot on. This place is fantastic do do work on your vehicle. They had all the tools I needed to get in and out. The place is also clean and comfortable to work in. Beats working in the driveway any day. They had gloves, lubricants, towels and hand cleaner. Having a lift is nice if you know you'll need it. I needed a big torque wrench to do the work I was doing. The cost of that or to rent made the visit worthwhile. If you want to be successful in a visit you should plan ahead. I feel like they can help you do that too as they have pro access to parts through local parts stores. Staff was incredibly helpful and attendant to all my needs. Especially using their tools which were organized, unlike mine that are illogically arranged for my own frustration. Looking forward to my next DIY visit.

As long as you attempt to work on your car there are people there who will help if you need and walk you through it all even how to use each tool or what the best tool would be to use. We came in to do a heater core change on our truck. While we knew from the get-go that it was going to be a big job, there's a difference between knowing and appreciating the scope of a job you've never attempted. Fortunately, the guys here have a knack at keeping things moving while never being overbearing. They're present but non-intrusive, checking in and offering professional advice/assistance when they find us DIYers getting in over our heads. In our case, it made the difference between success and failure, and in the end saved us the many hundreds of dollars it would have cost to have had the job done at a repair shop. The garage itself is spotless and stocked with all the essential tools/supplies you might need. They also have a break room with a vintage refrigerator and oodles of americana. All and all, it was totally worth the 2 hour drive. Thanks guys!

Good place! Big bays, clean, lifts if you want. They have most tools, all we needed, air tools, all organized. Helpful w advice, (they're not supposed to do stuff for you.) We asked questions freely, got answers, they looked up stuff. Price seems good to me. People working on their car next to us tossed us good advice - a bunch of gear heads with tools in a shared space. Good experience.

This shop has a great atmosphere and staff. Ive never had to leave to get a tool, they have had everything, every time. The rate is not bad at all either. I've been reluctant to work on my car and learn a lot in the process.. and this has been a the perfect place to do it. If you ever need a well equipped place to work on your vehicles, this is the place to do it. This place rents out bays by the hour a nd that includes the tools and there are people there to help if you need them and their assistance is included. We replaced the front roters and brakes and the were very helpful to make sure we did it right and they were not shy to jump in and help. Great place, Great people and we will be going there to do more of the routine maintenance on our vehicles. We definitely recommend American DIYG to any one who wants to work on their vehicle without having to buy any tools and work in a real garage. They even put our car on the lift and brought it down. I'm telling you this is really a fantastic place to work in your vehicles, it's clean, organized and they have the equipment and tools. We are very grateful for all of the help we received and will be lifelong customers.

I brought in my 2010 Lexus IS 250C to replace the viewscreen on the Audio/Navigation unit that takes up the middle of my dashboard. youTube instructions showed a rather difficult job to accomplish. Thank goodness for Jason who helped me every step of the way to take out the unit, replace the touchscreen, and put the unit back. The job would have been VERY difficult without his help. Thanks again. The DIY Garage has tools you are welcome to use for everything you can imagine, clean, well-lighted workbenches and workspaces, and a bunch of guys who are ready to help with about any job. Worked on near me were brakes on a Chevy Spark, a new performance exhaust system on a new Toyota GR Supra (as silly as that sounds you ought to hear it now!), switching an automatic transmission for a manual on an older Lexus sedan :-) and a bunch of other jobs that were performed while I had my adventure in electrical wiring. This was a marvelous way to spend a Saturday morning that was too cold to work outside. Being able to perform a difficult job in comfortable working conditions with the guys there made the whole experience a great time. Can hardly wait for something else to break!

The staff are awesome, they have every tool I have been able to think of, and they keep the place really clean. I can't say enough good things about how helpful the staff are. If you have a question they are very helpful. They also drove my car out of the garage, noticed an issue, and so they drove it back in and helped me figure out what the issue was so that I could drive home safely. The best experience i could ask for, They had parts delivered while i removed my parts. It took like 20 minutes.for parts to get there. Every tool i needed, to include air powered tools. By far the one of the best experiences working on a car besides working with my father in law up in Michigan. So convenient I didn't even need to bring my tools they had EVERYTHING!!! The people were amazingly nice and helpful, they were knowledgeable and helped me diagnose future issues that I will definitely returning to do. Go to place for working on mine and others Jeeps. Staff is very hands on and helpful. I have done full suspension swaps, basic maintenance, brake flushes, etc. They have all the tools and equipment needed.

Needed to change the Manual Transmission fluid in my '06 Dodge Ram 2500. I call American Do It Yourself Garage and reserved a bay. I showed up a bit early and they got me right in, walked me through the facility, and showed me where all the tools and supplies were. Once I got to work I needed some special tools and they helped me to get them. They also helped me to figure out a tool to get the transmission drain pug out as it it was right over the left bank exhaust crossover tube (Hemi 5.7). I was highly impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness, and ingenuity of the staff. If you don't have a garage of your own, are traveling through and need a place to work on your car, or just want a place to do jobs you don't have tooling for in your own shop, this is an excellent place to go to get the job done! Went in to knock out the outer tie rods on my Tacoma. Wayne was really helpful with making sure I had all the right tools and even offered pointers throughout the install. Very clean shop, with all the tools you’ll ever need to get the job done. It turned out that I needed an inner tie rod and Advance Auto Part go the part to me under 20 minutes. Best DIY shop for guys who like to do their own work.

All the tools I needed and an employee was always out there helping me with the right tools and strategies to get the job done when they realized I had little knowledge (but atleast more then the last person to work on it). I'm a novice when I comes to cars, I'm a woman but I can do basic stuff like change tires check air check oil and so on. I needed new wheel and hub bearings and after researching found I could do it myself and took it to these guys. Got into my bay on time they lifted it for me and gave me pointers and tips along the way even had to use some heavy duty machinery to get one loose. Big thanks to all the staff. The place is clean the staff is welcoming and they even have a cute little shop puppy that I played with for a bit. All around good place if you wanna be a do it yourself person, are tired of the dealers or just wanna save yourself some money head over to DIYSG you wont regret it.

I ran into some trouble and everyone took the time out to help me. If I did not have that expert help, I would have been there till 10 at night. They have all the the tools you would ever need. This place is truly the best option. I live in NY/NJ and originally went to a couple of these supposedly DIY spots that are really just trying to sell you into using their mechanics. They offer no tools, no help, give you a list of rules like "no fluid disposal" and basically set you up to fail. So as a condo and co-op resident just gave up and have been doing whatever I can on the street or paying $100+ an hour labor. Finally the control arms, tie rods, drive belt, etc needed replacing on one of my cars, a Ford Focus beater. Mechanics were quoting over 1K in labor alone. So now was time to either pay the value of the car in labor, do it on the street in 30 degrees or find a legit DIY garage. Did a lot of research and American DIY Garage seemed straightforward. OK time to roll the dice and make a trip out of it to VA since no options in my region, area, whatever. Well, I lucked out because these guys are the real deal. This Focus beater doesn't get much maintenance so plenty of rusted bolts and even the lug nuts. Initially was worried I wouldn't be able to even start the job due to the frozen lugs, but Dalton was there to advise and even lend a hand with the removal. Also, when I needed to fit wrenches into an engine bay designed for a 10 year old's hands they were more than happy to assist with the right knowledge and tools. The shop setup is exactly as pictured, very modern, clean and just an overall great chill environment to work in. Tools are all there and they have those special tools available if needed. Everything from air tools to tie rod removers to yes, rusted lug nut removers. This is THE spot so don't sweat it just grab your parts, hop In the car and go here. So with all that said, like Terminator, I'll be back!

Went to help my brother work on his truck. After getting the rear wheels off of the F350 Dually we needed a special tool for removing the axle nut. Went to the guys @ DIYG and they had the exact tool to remove it. Once we got the drums off we found that the emergency brake shoes were worn. The guys stepped up and ordered the parts from the local parts house & had them there in 15 minutes. The Guys & American DIYG were great. All the stalls were full before we finished our work. Great location, great equipment, and great staff. A buddy and I drove from the hellhole of Maryland to do a catback exhaust system install here; the staff was patient and helpful. I just did a brake job on my Ford F-150 at American DIY Garage. Their staff could not have been nicer. I am an unbelievably picky dude, but the place was absolutely spotless.The tools were clean and perfectly organized. Help by the killer staff was readily available, in fact they came out a few times just to B.S. Not to mention the two of the nicest "junkyard dogs" I have ever seen. I would feel relatively comfortable tackling a bigger job, just for the hell of it. They turned a pain in the neck expensive brake job into an inexpensive, fun way to kill the morning. Not enough words to describe how awesome this place is. My wife and I live in DC but she is from VA beach. We saw this place one visit and thought we'd have to check it out for a repair. Sure enough my wife needed new brakes and rotors. Fast forward to repair day, the staff ran me through layout of the garage, they offered assistance when needed and expert advice during my repair. They constantly checked on me to make sure I was ok. Their facilities are top notch and $30/hr for a lift Bay is generously reasonable. This place is perfect for people on a budget, or those whod rather work on their own car instead of paying for labor. I will be making the 4 hr drive to VA beach anytime I need to perform a car repair from now own. 20 out of 10!!!

American Do It Yourself Garage is my number one choice for doing my own repairs on my vehicles. The shop is spacious and clean. They have a tool crib for custom tools, a tool box and work bench at every bay that contains a full set of common tools, and a friendly and expert crew willing to help when needed. I went there because I has a check engine light. With my OBDII scanner, I knew that codes P0171 and P0174 (system too lean, banks 1 & 2) were the problem. I troubleshot myself, the air filter and MAS were clean, the fuel filter was new, I found no vacuum leaks, the PCV checked out good, and knew that 2 O2 sensors would have to have failed simultaneously, to pop both codes. I though my problem must be the fuel pump. None of the auto parts stores, nor the Auto Hobby Shops on the bases had a scanner that reads fuel pressure, and the repair shops charge over $100 to diagnose. I bought a fuel pump, and was prepared to drop my gas tank to replace the one in my van. American DIY Garage had a sophisticated enough scanner to verify that my fuel pressure (and therefore, pump) were good. The MAS was reading at .01 lbs, which the DIY rep said was too low. The diagnostic cost me less than $6. I returned the $155 fuel pump, and bought a $55 MAS. After installation, it still read .01 lbs, but I cleared the codes, and they've stayed cleared. This was for my work van, which is very important to my livelihood. Giving American DIY Garage a try turned out to be a great investment of my time and money.

This is such an awesome place to come work on your car. I came here to install a new exhaust downpipe on my Subaru WRX. The place was very clean, very organized, and there was no smoking by the staff in the garage as I have encountered at a competitor. One of the staff members, without being obligated, helped me quite a bit on the install and shared his passion for cars and automotive work. The staff makes you feel comfortable and doesn't make you feel bad to ask a "dumb question". I learned a whole lot by coming here. LOVE working on my car and saving hundreds of $$$$$ The staff helps if you get in unfamiliar territory. Saw my first lady working on her car. AAA wanted $800 to replace my alternator on a focus .Said it was a hard to get part so it was 350 and it was hard to get to so anothet 375 plus tax. I went to an auto parts store and got it for $99ِ and it took me 30 minutes to swap it. So you cant trust AAA by Janaf . Come give it a try .

Stopped by earlier today to change my girlfriend's brakes on her Honda Accord. First time in after passing by a while back and making note of it. First look inside and you'll see how nice of a "work environment" you have at your hands. We were shown around and told of the prices and availability of the tools which are all VERY organized(very much like an aviation wotk shop, for the military guys/girls). They have everything from lifts and air tools, to brake cleaner and a media blasting cabinet. Their webite is very informative in itself. Guys that were working here are both cool guys and very helpful gearheads/retired military themselves. Took just under an hour to change her front brakes, thy how orgained it is here! Will definitely be back to work on my own vehicle in the future. Thanks guys!
