This is a service nobody wants to have to use, but is very thankful for when the situation demands it. We were in a car accident in September. Geico wanted to ship our car out of state to Melrose to have it inspected for damages. We declined. By state law we can have the car towed to any garage and have work done by a company of our choosing. I called the large autobody shop that plays ads on the radio all day long. The one in Providence. However when they heard the age and type of the vehicle they told me it “would not be worth fixing”. I offered to email pictures and told them that due to cost of used cars going up Geico decided not to total. They never responded to my emailed photos and pretty much declined the job. I then turned to Google reviews and found State Autobody on Valley Str. From the first interraction I was blown away! These people picked up the phone, returned calls, and presented very professionally. They came to take my car which was at the state tow lot. Due to the car parts shortage, the repair took almost 8 weeks. During that time they kept in touch and gave me updates. They used all the new parts despite the insurance pushing for the used ones. They did close to $7k of repairs for us and painted the damaged parts. The car was cleaned and detailed. They waived the deductable. Honestly, this is the type of business we need in our state. I am so impressed and pleasantly surprised. As an immigrant woman with an accent I am often not taken seriously or I am talked down to by the men, especially mechanics. I was treated with respect and patience, which I deeply appreciated. I hope to never need their services again but if I did, I would go back in a heartbeat. I am posting this review in December after a month of driving around just to make sure the car drives well before I leave the review. If you are reading it, it means that you were in an accident. I wish you the best of luck and don’t hesitate to use this business. Just be patient because these kinds of repairs take a long time, especially in the time od Covid. They will do their best to work with the insurance, keep you in the loop and get your car back in shape for you.

State Auto Body came through once again! I previously had them do work on my wife's Highlander to which they returned to us looking absolutely factory. Back in February my Tundra was damaged by a piece of equipment that was left in the road. After a long time of back and forth with Toyota they finally got the door panel in 5 months later! The work they did is perfect and I'm a real stickler for my vehicles and the paint. I look for all of the details! Not only did State Auto Body help me with my rental and keeping me updated, when they were done with the repair I unfortunately had Covid so I couldn't come up and get the truck. So what did Mario do? He delivered it to me and drove back my rental! Best customer service in the state!

Good price, fast service, friendly people, what more could you ask for? I worked with Steve on some damage to my bumper. He talked to me in the office and took great care of me. I came in to have my front bumper repaired after hitting a fence. They squeezed me in and had the front bumper fixed and the paint matched within ONE WEEK! Everyone was super professional and kind. Wow! Where do I begin in this review? Well, I am writing this review not even 10 minutes since I've picked up my car. As you can see in the pics, I swiped my passenger side quarter panel on a pillar leading into my apartment garage. Very unfortunate situation -- I began researching auto body shops the same evening it happened. How fortunate am I to live walking distance from State Auto Body. With COVID going on, I was able to upload photos of the damage directly to the auto body shop, Steve called me about noon that same day and asked me if I was available to bring the car in. Everything was extremely smooth and it helped to keep my anxiety down about what had happened. Steve and Mario were extremely helpful throughout the entire process from helping me through submitting the claim to insurance to getting my rental car set up. Steve knows all about customer experiences and customer service; he's all about the customer and their happiness. As you can see, my car is back like she never left....dare I say looking better than before the damages lol. But they were speedy and kept me updated as often as I requested. If you are ever in an unfortunate situation like me and you're anywhere near State Auto Body, you're doing yourself a disservice going anywhere else honestly. Thanks again fellas!

Steve, Mario, and the technicians at State Auto Body are some of the best in the business. I brought my Subaru Legacy GT in for repairs after an accident because they are one of the only independent auto body shops certified by Subaru in Rhode Island. Steve and Mario made sure that the adjuster accounted for genuine OEM parts for my repairs and did a great job keeping me in the loop as to what was going on. If you have a Subaru, Honda, Acura, or anything else in need of repairs definitely give State a call, they'll make sure it's fixed right the first time.

State auto body is my go to shop when I need car repairs. I’ve used them twice already. First time I got coverage for a fender bender and the crew did an amazing job on my 2017 Hyundai. Second time I totally wrecked my rear view mirror and Steve (head guy in charge) gave me the cheapest deal for repairs since I was paying out of pocket. I drive a 25 year old Mercedes wagon. I needed my driver side mirror repaired after it was clipped off my car while parked. I called these guys on a Wednesday and they worked with MY SCHEDULE to help me out as soon as I had the time. They were willing to help me that day, but I wasn’t free until Friday when they fit me in as soon as I could. They helped me investigate the aftermarket replacement mirror I had purchased and ensured it would be a good fit and remain fully functional and installed and fixed my mirror in under thirty minutes. These guys are THE BEST. Thank you Steve and crew for your friendly, efficient and awesome service. Definitely will be back the next time something happens to my quarter-century old vehicle :)

I came in just to get a quote on the damage done to my vehicle. I had a dent in my fender which also prevented me from opening my drivers side door. The AMAZING owner (I believe) took his time to hear me out and came outside to look at my car. He asked me if he try to fix the dent as much as he could so I could at least in my car from the drivers side. He drove it into the shop and almost fixed the dent completely! I am so grateful that he helped me and at NO COST! He was kind and truthful about the quote and gave me helpful advice (since I asked him for it!) If anything else happens to my car, I will definitely bring it here!

Huge shout out to State Auto Body in Providence. Our daughter was driving back to campus when she was hit by another driver. We had the car towed to State Auto Body. State Auto Body is awesome. I had a minor fender issue that needed to be repaired. I first went to a large local dealers collision center and in typical dealer fashion they were just rude and their timelines were absurd. I understand things are backed up with COVID but they told me 4 weeks before I could come in and then another 4-8 weeks for it to be fixed for a simple bumper repair. I live right down the road from State Auto Body so I called them to see what the process would be like, right from the start they were super friendly and had me come in that same day. You can tell right away that Steve really cares about his customers and his businesses reputation and it shows in their glowing reviews. He ordered my parts same day(OEM-not after market) and called me as soon as he knew when they would be in so I could drop off my car and have it all fixed as quickly as possible. After years of dealing with dealerships who never provide updates and take forever to complete anything Steve has been a breath of fresh air and honestly seems like a great guy. Even though I haven't even had my car fixed there yet, I already know its going to come out perfect.

The guys at State Auto Body do impeccable work. My car was recently side-swiped and it needed repair. Steve Paiva at State Auto Body took my call right away, walked me through the process both at State and with the insurance company (which was a bear and which Steve handled very professionally), and got the repair done as quickly as possible. He also arranged for a car rental company to meet me at State and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. My BMW is in perfect condition. State Auto Body does A-1 work and I highly recommend them.

I went in October 2021 due to my car being backed into and as a result knocked out my driver side review mirror and dented my front door and causing it to make a horrible sound every time I opened it. One of the mechanics, Steve, was so friendly and personable! The process was so smooth and easy. He gave me an amazing price for the body work job and was able to finish it within the day! October 11th 2019. Mario and Steve again went all out to help me and repair my Ford Escape. Their work is absolutely top notch, they do not cut corners and are sincere about making sure you are happy with their work. My vehicle looks fantastic once again. They arranged for the rental agent to meet me at their facility and handled all the insurance paperwork and appraisal work and even had the vehicle detailed after it was finished. Since I was away when it was ready for delivery, they arranged to have it dropped off at my house. I highly recommend their work and am impressed with their attention to detail and great communication throughout the repair process.

I had great experience with State Auto Body. Their customer service is amazing. Steve was especially great and answered all my questions and made sure that my car would be in good hands. I had an excellent experience with State Auto Body, who was recommended to me by Trish at Wayne's Service (I would similarly highly recommend Wayne's as a mechanic and from my experience there trusted Trish's advice very much). State Auto Body was extremely helpful and understanding both over the phone and in person for guiding me through navigating my insurer and the other driver's insurer, as well as the car rental, when my car was rear ended. This was a new and intimidating experience for me but they guided me through it. They also called up Enterprise for me and got me a rental right away (when I had initially just brought my car by for a look) so I could leave it then and there instead of having to make another trip. They made things easy for me by letting me leave the rental with them when I was ready to pick up my car, which they took care of (rather than needing to drop it at Enterprise and then get shuttled there). I did not even have to deal with the insurance appraisers because they just looked at the car on-site at State Auto and communicated directly with the people there. My body work took longer than estimated due to storms, difficult-to-find parts, and a mistake on the case of a company they ordered a new wheel from, and State Auto covered the car rental beyond what my insurance covered for the extra time it was in the shop. My car looks awesome after the work (which I know was difficult - they even had to paint my new wheel since they could not find the discontinued after-market wheel in the same color I had purchased it). Finally, they gave my car an immaculate cleaning and detailing and it has not looked so good since it was new. The only thing that could have been better was that because my car took longer than expected, I kept having to check in with them about the new anticipated done date so I could sort of plan my schedule for going to pick it up - they always were speedy to reply but could have been a bit more proactive about reaching out to me. That being said, I know a lot was up in the air on their end (they weren't sure when exactly it would be done, waiting on parts, etc.). Thank you State Auto Body! I highly recommend their services and would use them again in a heartbeat if god forbid I need to (though fingers crossed I will not).

I’d like to tip my hat to Mario and the State Auto Body crew for not only giving us great service but for also doing “the right thing”. My daughter had her vehicle serviced there and as they were repairing her Honda for different issues they notice that a certain repair that we authorized wasn’t necessary so they informed which probably wouldn’t happened at another repair shop. And that indicates to me that they are in the business of making new customers and retaining them. They also offer complimentary shuttle service which is a Godsend since my daughter closest relative lives two hours away. I recently brought my 2014 Volkswagen Passat to State Auto Body to repair extensive hail damage. The owners, Steve and Mario, and their team provided exceptional service and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. There were over 450 dents in my car and they were able to restore it to its original condition--in fact it looks brand new! My 2017 Honda Accord Coupe was over sprayed and needed paint. My usual go to, Wayne's Service in Providence, recommended Steve at State. Following Trish's recommendation, always. I phoned Steve and began a wonderful experience. After Steve inspected my car, he ran the numbers. He knew I was paying so he explained the cost in detail. I had explained this 2017 was the last Accord Coupe, I had three and wanted to keep it. The paint job was WONDERFUL! Thank you Steve and State crew! Thank you Trish! UPDATE 2021 -- Once again needed a bit of work done and cannot recommend State Auto Body enough. As a woman I sometimes feel really out of place in car repair/auto body/other environments...because...well, I don't know much about cars, and I feel gullible and like folks might take advantage - ladies, you know what I am saying. In fact, I recently stopped by one of the large shops in PVD and had a terrible experience, will never go back there ever. Skip the other places and trust me, go to State Auto Body! My family and I have always used state auto body from as far back as I can remember (over 20 years) Mario, Steve and their staff truly go beyond the meaning of quality service. I brought my car in for auto body repair after many, many accidents, and from start to finish the process is easy and streamlined. Besides the excellent customer service, my car looks as good as new! Steve and Mario are superhumans. They are honest, hard-working and smart guys who are so talented at what they do and always go above and beyond. I have brought my Honda to State Auto Body twice now for body work after being rear-ended and hit while parked on the street. What service! I have dealt with numerous auto body shops (unfortunately) and have never, ever received quality or service like I did from State Auto Body. As a young woman, it has always been a struggle to know who I can trust when it comes to cars. Owner, Steve, took care of everything from start to finish and even helped when the other driver's insurance company gave me a difficult time. He coordinated a rental that was sitting there and waiting for me when I dropped my car off. It was effortless (which was a welcomed relief after the stress of an accident). Being new to the providence area, I didn't know any auto body shops. After some research, I found that State Auto Body had awesome reviews. I recently brought my 2016 Lincoln MKZ in after my girlfriend gauged the front passenger's side bumper (due to collision with a stone pillar). I was worried that any repair would not match my car color since I had the white 3 coat paint. The team at State Auto Body provided me with excellent customer service and went above and beyond to help me when I was experiencing a car related emergency. On my way to work at the VA hospital, a noise from my car that had been increasing in volume grew louder and more concerning. I googled closest mechanic shop near me and had the great fortune of that shop being State Auto Body. I called over to the shop and the team helped me to arrange a same day car drop off and they were able to accommodate me within the very narrow window I had available to leave work. After dropping off my car, a staff member gave me a ride back to the VA. They were able to identity and fix the problem very quickly, and because it was clear that the issue was due to a previous mechanics carelessness (not properly screwing down the lug nuts when the snow tires were put on), the State Auto Body team did not charge me for the service. The team also drove my car back up to the VA so that I was safe and had no delays in terms of getting home by close of business. I am truly grateful for their generosity and efficiency! Great place to bring your car. Repairs took about a month. Got into a small fender bender with my 13 Honda Accord. Honest and hard working company. Worked with Mario who was very knowledgeable. He knew all the info about insurace claims and how everything works. Helped me get the rental car as well. After the repairs my car was beautiful. Picked up the car and found they got it fully detailed in and out. Even with my deductable i didnt have to pay anything which is amazing. This place is great, and the other glowing reviews are well earned. I brought in an older car with a broken door handle. They put the handle assembly back into place and told me that I could just order a handle online and put it in myself for a couple bucks-- for free. I got the part, but could not put it in myself, so I brought it by and they installed that for free too. They won't do a half ass repair, if you want that, grab a can of spray paint and go to your cousins garage. But they will work with you. If they can repair it instead of replace it, they will. If you can live with some minor scratches on the bumper, that's ok. They fixed it in a couple of days. Right on time. No need for a rental. No waiting for appointment. The car looked like new. I was involved in a rear fender bender recently at a parking lot. After some research over the internet I decided to choose State Auto Body, Providence to help me fix my car. I must say Steve and Mario are a to-go duo for any auto body repairs. After the first fix attempt, I noticed a good amount of gap between the fender and the bumper and I quickly raised it to these guys. They fixed it not just once but thrice until the gap was closed to as minimum as possible. It turned out that some bracket was misaligned in the newly replaced fender causing the gap. Since I reach home during late evenings, from office, to check my car, Mario was always available on-call to ensure that the latest fix was meeting the standards. This Auto Body business is managed very well. First impression - the lobby is clean and neat and all of the employees are courteous and provide a very detailed description of the work needed and the costs associated with that work. I took two cars to this business and both were repaired/painted like new. The business is also certified by a number of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) like Hyundai, GM , Kia etc. Obtaining this certification is not mandatory but the management takes the initiative to pursue this stamp of approval from the OEM’s thereby giving an extra layer of confidence to the customer. I know this isn't the most important thing in the world, but it speaks volumes about how much they care about their business. 3) The work on my car was of higher quality than I ever would have hoped for. My car went from looking like a prize-fighter after a KO to looking like it just rolled off the lot at the dealership. 4) They cleaned the car, inside and out. They waxed it and oiled the leather, for crying out loud. I've never gotten a car back from a body shop looking this nice. Seriously. Gorgeous. 5) The pricing seemed quite fair and was actually much less expensive than I had anticipated. Any one of the above would have been worthy of a 5-star rating. But the fact that they hit them all out of the park is just unbelievable. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Hell, I'll do a testimonial for a radio ad! If you live in the Providence area, or even southeastern Mass, it is well worth your time to bring your car here. We had a passenger window smashed in by a burglar. They took a bad situation and made it wonderful. We were kept informed throughout the process of how long it would take, clear reasons as to what work was being done and why, the repair was fast and very very well done, they were courteous and friendly each time we came by. The car had glass all over the place, but when we picked it up, it looked brand new. Clean, no problems or rattling in the window (like if loose glass had been left, which they fully cleaned out). i was rear ended and needed to have my bumper replaced on my 2015 sierra. because the tow hitch had fresh scratches in the paint, an obvious sign of impact, steve had that replaced as well (instead of repainting it). it may have been compromised and had the potential of failing some day towing something. looking out for my/public safety. state auto-body handled everything with the insurance company and arranged for me to have a loaner vehicle, a crew cab pick-up so i could continue to run my business. my truck was returned to me a day earlier than promised, cleaned and ready to go.

I got to say these guys are such nice people especially Mario. Their paint jobs are also great and looks like the day you get it from the dealer ;however if they miss a certain spot that was promised to be painted , they will not give it their all to fix the spots they missed . I basically live 3 1/2 hours away from the auto body and got my car painted on my vacation in Rhode Island . I noticed they missed a spot by my rear door so they said come back and they'll take care of it . Drove 3 1/2 hours just to have them paint the missed spots, but wait get this , it looks like it's been painted by a brush and is obviously not up to their standards when they painted the rest of my car. I'm not angry at them just disappointed. I mean I drove 3 1/2 hours to get to the autobody and I plan to drive back home on the same day . Three stars just because I had to drive back when it should have properly been painted beforehand and also when I came back , the missed spots were poorly painted. If I knew it would turn out like that I would have stayed home and avoided the trip. I would have given them 5 if the missed spots were never missed and I didn't waste my time coming back to get it done so poorly. This is just an honest review but man I really wish I could have given them 5 just because of their customer service. Unfortunately, an autobody can't get five just from customer service alone.
