Excellent customer service with skilled mechanics, need I say more. This is my second time using Shum's auto to mount and balance UHP summer tires on my '21 Challenger Widebody (305/35 R20 12" wide tires!). Shum's has advanced tech 'road force' mounter that precisely balances these tires. I've cruised at very high speeds without even a slight vibration! You'll have no regrets on choosing these Pro's..

I had a great experience with Shum’s! I was very worried as I started hearing a loud noise from my car’s engine. As soon as it was brought in, the technician knew immediately what had to be done, which was to replace the water pump. I also appreciated the courtesy check they did, as my car is older. I didn’t even realize that there was a nail in one of my tires! But that explained me having to put air in more often over the last few months. If you’re looking for a reliable mechanic, this is the place to go to. My car has been running fantastic as I also opted to get some more work done. There’s no better peace of mind than knowing that there’s a shop that’s experienced with a lot of different repairs and fixes. The team is very communicative throughout the process, as I received frequent updates via text or call. I also love that they send you a video of their inspection, so you know they’re not just saying anything. My favorite thing was the ability to pay online- I’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic, honest service. I had my girlfriend go here yesterday while I was at work to get some issues checked out with my car. There was zero wait time, they immediately spoke to her and got the car in to take a look. I don’t know much about cars which usually leads to various mechanics trying to exploit this and take advantage. After narrowing down what the issue could be, the mechanic met with my girlfriend and had her call me so I could be involved with talking about the options. He offered that the cheaper possible solution would be the best option to see if it could fix the entire problem instead of saying the more expensive option was the only one. This won me over right away. I’m a firm believer that an honest, fair mechanic is incredibly hard to find and I am truly happy to have found one 2 blocks away from my house. The problem was fixed within 2 hours and the car is running much better now. This couldn’t have been a more pleasant experience and I would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of a new mechanic. My family will definitely be utilizing them in the future.

The guys in the office were really down to earth and made me feel like I'd been a customer there for years. This was my first time using this shop and I'll be going back with all my car's maintenance needs as well as recommending them to friends/family.The office was clean and didn't smell like an auto shop. Great service, professional, kept me informed before committing to any repairs, and the prices are in line with what other repair shops in the area charge for similar services. Except the State Inspection. That is a lot cheaper than the going rate if you use the coupon posted on their website. They also are real good about documenting what they do, both via written quotes and video diagnostic shared with customer explaining what needs to be repaired, and why. Way better than someone just grunting monosyllabic sounds at me in response to basic questions (which I have actually experienced at at least one other place up here).

Been taking my work van to Shums for almost a year. I put about 5000 miles a month on the van and I take it to Shums for regular oil changes and inspection every month. Love the video inspection showing you what’s wrong and possibly what parts might be needed. Always repaired the first time. Never had to return with the same problem. Of course I also take my personal car there for the same great service.

I took my car in for oil change and while there Chris reminded me my inspection was almost up. So, they were able to complete my inspection. And also make a tire repair ( I had a slow leak) from a nail. All was completed quickly and seamlessly. I was updated as the work was ongoing. I will definitely be using Shumm in the future.

Shum's inspected my car thoroughly and sent me a video of the repairs it needed. Though, I was surprised and hesitant on the repairs needed; Shocks needed work, battery was on the decline, some lights were out. I believe they were correct in their assessments. My car drives a bit smoother and I am not paranoid about the battery dying. Thanks again for your help.

It’s one of the nicest mechanic shops I’ve seen. The waiting area is nice with refreshments and the working area is kept clean. Before living in Philly I worked on many cars as an hobby and I’m quite meticulous when I work on them having an aeronautical and mechanical engineering background. I came in because I had a bad vibration and I thought it was misbalanced wheel. The mechanic diagnosed the u joint on the new rear driveshaft I recently replaced (previous driveshaft yoke broke) happened to be bad. They were happy to bring me in the working area and show me the issue. When they gave me a quote is was reasonable for replacing the u joint. I highly recommend them

After my brakes failed on my 2003 Hyundai sonata I took my car to the nearest pepboy at hunting park to have them look at it, they gave me the runaround for one week I decided to take it to a Hyundai dealership at Roosevelt boulevard only to find out that my catalytic converter was stolen in front of the bay doors of pepboy. I took it to the Hyundai dealership and for one week they called me to let me know that the hardline for my brakes had to be replaced and that they stop making them, I asked them if they fabricate them as seen in u tube and they told me no they tried to make me trade it in. I look up Shums and towed it to them , they saved my car that I had for Ninteen years and the good thing about Shums Auto Repair they do an overall inspection of the car and they found other issues with the car that pepboy and the Hyundai dealerships which service my car for years overlooked. Shums Auto Repair even send videos of the issues related to the vehicle. They are very professional and there prices are very reasonable. I would recommend Shums Auto Repair to anyone even my family and friends. They do great work and are coutious , Kevin took great care of my car I can't complain check them out.

I've been going here on and off for years when I live in Philadelphia. Always excellent service and communication. I am able to drop my car at night and put the keys in the dropbox. Also able to pay over the phone and pick my car up AFTER hours. I usually get an oil change, tire rotation, today was tire balance and I've scheduled my inspection for next month. You won't be disappointed! ** Update! 6 stars today :) Dropped my car off last night for inspection, after hours and they called me at 8:30 this morning to tell me it was ready. That is amazing but get this, 26.00 for inspection without having my usual coupon! I called to pay by phone, I didn't have to identify myself, my phone number identified me and the minute I hung up I received a text with a link to secure payment. I was able to scan my card so my phone translated my card number and as soon as I hit PAY NOW, I received another text with the lockbox number and code so i could pick up after hours. They have a pretty cool scrolling sign above the door that lights up the grimy neighborhood and parking lot which really helps when filling out the dropbox envelope after dark. I'm sure they have an advanced camera system - my car has always come back with all of its parts and tires lol. I really feel as if I can trust them and would probably pay more for my services because as other reviewers have said, finding a good mechanic is tough. With everyone charging a premium for pandemic issues/delays/expenses these days, I really appreciate the discount they gave on my inspection. I wish they had a "tip" option upon checkout, I'd tip them for their amazing customer service, prompt repairs and convenience before I tip the girl at Dunkin donuts for literally handing me my coffee. Every I guy I speak with at Shums is amazing. As if their only job is Receptionist and Customer Service. I can't say enough good things about their professional and courteous employees. Give them a shot, you won't be sorry!

ONLY BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE. I’m amazed at the honesty of this establishment. I received a video from Shums showing and explaining exactly what was found and exactly what needed to be repaired on my car. They didn’t try to up sale me at all. I have finally found the place for all of my friends and family members cars. Also beware of other auto repair shops with similar names because you will get scammed-I’m speaking from experience. If it’s not Shums Auto Repair don’t take your car there.

I was able to pay for my service, which was very reasonably priced, on my phone. They also sent me a video of them inspecting my car and showing me each point. My first time at Shums was actually bitter sweet. The gentleman manning the phones and office by the name of Steven! Was very professional, understand, and exceptional courtesy during our business transaction. I asked for a diagnostic check on my vehicle, to diagnose the possible problems It was having. And I also requested that we talk about the issues before any work was done to it. They were satisfyingly quick and I feel they were honest and forthcoming on the expense status of my trucks problems. All in all my truck is in automotive hospice with a failing heart (only 2 pistons are firing off correctly, and motor is possibly compromised beyond repair, lack of engine compression??), #2 tuberculosis and or COPD of lungs and airways ( major vacuum issues along with missing multiple hoses to air intake manifold or the tree on top of engine, also Bn censor/ air filter compromise. #3 bone cancer (major rust issues among the under carriage and frame of truck

This man has fixed my car at no extra cost to me and even fixed my key which was loose from age and wear and tear. After breaking down in NJ and not able to accelerate over 20mph, it took 4 hours to get me and my 2 year old over the bridge to our home in Philly. I called a few local mechanics in my area with my error code to get an estimate and availability to service. This was an emergency for me as I was moving that week and needed a vehicle. No one was able to service my vehicle in time. I found Shums on Google and spoke to Kevin in the shop. He is definitely the most knowledgeable, professional and empathetic person I have ever spoke to at an auto body shop. He is really on top of things, listened to what I had to say and was able to work with me on price/availability to service. I dropped my car off, it was serviced the very next and ready to be picked up much quicker then anyone else in the area could have offered me. Can't complain!! I needed a throttle body replacement. The price was little higher then I initially thought but I was just happy they were able to service it so quickly. Kind of sad I am moving out of state now, I would have loved to continue brining my car into them. Very clean & professional! Thanks again Kevin! 😉

This place is very professional. The guy in the office looked more like a realtor than a grease monkey. He greeted me outside and told me where to park. The place was squeaky clean with five secure bays and plenty of work space. They fixed my transmission issue only after confirming with me that I approved of every service before they were performed. It was expensive but that's the kind of place this is, skilled workers doing technical work. It's not a hood spot that only does brakes, oil change and sells hot inspection stickers. If you can't do it yourself, don't trust the hood guys to touch it, then go here. But just remember, technical work is expensive and you're not likely to get much of a deal on it. Overall I'm very satisfied and my truck is running great.

I get my car to this mechanic they diagnostic my problem it is caused by rotor eventhough I newly installed it I didn't listen to their advice I thought they are not accurate. Unfortunately I took the car to other mechanic they told me that this problem caused by calipers I I changed them but the problem still there again I took it to other mechanic he told me that this noise caused by CV joints I changed. The noise still there finally I decided to change the rotor once I changed the rotor every thing runs smoothly. I wasted over 2000 dollars by not listening to this mechanic

This review is long overdue, but I just love this shop so much and the owner and people who work there are so incredible! They have been taking amazing care of my car for over 5 years now and I literally won't take it anywhere else in the city. They diagnose any car issues quick, give you a call to explain any repairs that may need to be done, and get your vehicle back to you super fast. My car runs like it's brand new every time it leaves their caring hands. This shop is so beautiful and probably cleanest shop you'll ever find in Philly! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Again 5/5/22 Shums is Amazing. Oil change, state inspection and replace timing chain tensioner. And they even send a Uber to pick me up at home to go and pick up my car when service was done at no charge to me. Awesome!! I got car service on 12/14/21 at Shums. I had a problem with a loud noise coming from bottom of car for 2yrs. Bepboys said I needed struts. I wanted 2nd opinion. I calledToyota I explained the noise i told them what bepboys said it was. They said I was Probably better off getting a new car, because the cost of struts was going to be $4,000 for all 4 my car is a 2004. I took the car to Midas at two different locations. First location they didn't hear the noise. Second location buselton and grant there I pay $600 on 2020 for brakes and rotors...and still with the noise. They told me to take it back, however i didn't because if they couldn't figure it out the time I wasn't going to pay for a second try. My niece told me about Shums took it there and problem solved the same day driving car for 2months. I didn't need struts and the cost was reasonable. They are amazing! God Bless them all.

UNFORTUNATELY THE CHANGE DOWNGRADED MECHANIC KNOWLEDGE FROM SUPER ELITE - TO MID RANGE QUALITY. Quick story. VLAD a former mechanic SUPER knowledgable on high end german cars. Figured out problems the Dealership couldn't solve. I had a loaner from AUDI for 6 months after not being able to fix 4 hidden sensor systems, they begged me to come get my car take it anywhere get it fixed and bring them back the bill. But how can this be? A dealership not able to fix their own car, VLAD tells me after fixing my car in 2 days, He also bought a car few years ago from Audi Willow-grove and the young mechanics coming out of schools aren't versed in certain areas of German Autos, Experience Matters! Great overall experience! Saw this repair shop in passing, but didn't have the time to research for details on hours and such. Shums took care of that with a mailing that I set aside for a rainy day...or the day after I blew out a tire and needed a local repair shop that I could walk to and from. The receptionist was very nice, which accounts for the foundation of the experience. It can be difficult for a woman to try out a new repair shop, for fear of being "taken for a ride" so to speak. I didn't feel this way at all at Shums; in fact, the mechanic respectfully communicated his assessment of the vehicle and the recommended plan for repair and future maintenance. The car took a little longer than initially expected however, after speaking to the mechanic about the diagnostic process, I feel this minor setback was fully validated to yield quality results. I liked the ease of check-in, the text alerts regarding the status of your vehicle, and that there is a shuttle service offered (if needed) for local pick-up/drop-off. I got 2 tires installed, but they cleaned up all 4 beautifully! I was pleasantly surprised when I got in my car and saw a nice mug on the dash as a parting gift for new customers! The mailing was spot on in their delivery...a dealership-based approach with a local repair shop feel! I highly recommend you give Shums Auto Repair a try and see for yourself 😃

Shums auto repair is by far one of the best automotive shops in Philadelphia. I have used many mechanics over the years but have never been so impressed with the quality of service from the moment I walked in up until the time my repairs were completed. I had to have my clutch replaced and the repairs were done in less than a day. This shop really embraces technology and leverages it to the customer advantage which is really great. I received an inspection report directly to my phone within a few hours of dropping off my car, it was good to actually see pictures of what was wrong and even provides a helpful explanation from the mechanic of what the problems are. Andrey followed up shortly after the inspection report with a call to explain costs and time and was very helpful. These little things really help you know you made the right decision with your mechanic. They are top notch and very professional. Probably the best experience we’ve ever had at an auto repair shop. We travelled up from Florida and an axel broke on our car while in Philadelphia. My experience began with excellent communication from Shums. I messaged the owner on Yelp, and was able to receive an immediate response with an easily and conveniently scheduled appointment. Their inspection of my car was very cool; I was able to see photos of all of the things in my car from the inspection, corresponding with their service recommendations. This is a great place to go if you want a nice, convenient, and very informative place to get your car fixed. If you care about the detailed report with photos, this place is awesome. The reason I cannot give five stars, though, is the crazy prices. As a reference point, I was quoted for "cooling system service" at a price of $179.27 for my Mazda 3, thought it was way too much money for that service, and then went and got it done at the Goodyear on my street for exactly $101.47 instead. A savings of 43%. They have a lot of bells and whistles, but personally I just need good reliable car care from people I can trust, with the lowest price possible. I know I'm not alone in that. What I did get done at Shums was a much needed new belt for my engine and an oil change. I needed it much at the time, so I went ahead with those services there for convenience purposes. The price was kind of ridiculous, $240.14, but as I said, for that day at that time, it was just easier. They put a back-scratcher in the back seat of my car, and send me their newsletter. I would rather they were just cheaper.

I visited Shum's Auto for state inspection and emissions. Shum's had this inspection and emission special. If you drop your car off before 9am and able to leave it all day it would cost $23. (Too good to be true right?) Kevin helped me and he was just so friendly. He even asked if I needed an oil change, which I didn't need at that time. As soon as I got on my lunch break (around 1pm) I received a text from Kevin that my car was ready. I was prepared to have to fight for the special and Kevin stayed true to his word. $23!!!! YALLLLL!! 23 DOLLARS!!! In the middle of a whole Pandora's box, I passed my inspection for $23!!! The average being $60. With that special, their respect, and friendliness I will be a returning customer. OH! Don't even get me started at how clean and luxurious the waiting room was. I thought I was in a luxury car dealership.

They're honest and they operate with integrity. I came in for a no start issue on my Fiat 500 that American owned shops wouldn't touch. They charged me for the diagnosis and fixed the issues free of charge (corrosion on the starter and a misaligned shifter cable). They also correctly diagnosed a couple other problems that Pepboys told me were normal (like the completely rusted brakes and rotors that Pepboys told me were fine and that the AWFUL groaning and grinding noise was normal). I've since had them do a few other things, such as rotor and brake replacements on both sets of brakes, and I've been very happy with the work. I had some unrelated complaints about my engine mounts, suspension, and steering axle .They inspected all issues for free during my brake replacement. I trust them to get my car road ready for my long distance trip. The owner personally comes to update you on the repairs and review the work after completion. Their office assistant Rebecca is extremely nice and pleasant to deal with. The large parrot they have in the office during work hours is a fun sight. The waiting area and bathroom are also the nicest and cleanest of all the auto shops I've visited. I'm sad that I discovered them so late, as I'm moving out of state and won't be able to bring my car back here for repairs and regular care. I wish I'd found them a year ago! - Amanda

One of my favorite things in life is to see people do what they do well - you really know you’re in good hands with these guys- I drive an old Mini Cooper and it’s hard to find competent technicians- I was going to someone for 20 years who repaired my breaks only to do it so they failed while I was driving- that is scary- these guys fixed my breaks and replaced broken struts and fixed my power steering leak and now I feel like my 13 year old car has a new life- . I normally never write reviews. Unless I have an absolutely terrible experience, and even then not really. My experience at Shums was so great, I feel morally compelled to write about it! I deal with cars for a living (imports from foreign countries). I interact with mechanics on a daily basis both in the US and several other countries. Needless to say I have met every type. Probably 50+ over the course of the last couple of years alone. Some good, most not. It's always something with mechanics - they're good but crazy expensive; honest but horrible work; great work but terrible customer service. ALWAYS SOMETHING! The guys at shums are the absolute exception to the rule. They provided the best overall experience I've ever had. Full stop. Organized, thorough, great quality work, and most importantly: honest. I ordered some tires and wheels off tire rack, which they stored for me over a month! I called them out of the blue to schedule an appointment the same day. (The car just arrived in port!). They cleared a bay and told me I could to come through immediately. Unfortunately, I got delayed and was about 5 hours late, showing up 30 minutes before closing. I told them my tale of how I just showed up from out of town and had major car problems. They were super patient and understanding (while I would've been livid) and then proceeded to go above and beyond to help me out. I won't get into details, but suffice it to say they bent over backwards to make it work. I want a shums on every corner of America!!!!

I’ve been coming here for the last 2-3 years. Mostly for inspections. Andre is extremely professional in everything he does. Explains everything and giveS you the option to take his suggestions or not. Doesn’t hammer you into making a decision that you are uncomfortable with. It’s hard to find a mechanic that you feel is honest. Because they could really say anything and you would have to believe them. But Shum’s is honest. Only needed windshield wipers to pass state inspection and that was that. Gives you 2 options for wipers and a few suggestions like needing tires in the near future and let’s you decide which was you’d like to go without being beaten into taking every suggestion. I would without a doubt recommend Shum’s. Hope to not have to go back to a mechanic anytime soon but if I did Shum’s is my choice.

After having to replace tires because of uneven tire wear I decided to get an alignment at Shums. I was greeted by Rebecca when I walked in who was very pleasant. Andre (owner) asked me what I was bringing my car in for and paid attention to everything I was telling him. He gave me his opinion on what could be causing my problem which was the "toe" being out of specification. They went ahead and did my alignment in about an hour. The car feels a lot better than it did before I brought it in. Andre explained things to me before and after and offered advice for the future. I would recommend Shums to anybody looking for a shop that is professional all around.

These guys are great. So good to find honest mechanics! I had a PepBoys tell me I needed a new starter and a new flex plate and they were going to charge me an arm and a leg. Shum's gave me a quote that was about a third of what PepBoys quoted me. After I had the car towed there, they told my that my flex plate didn't even need to be fixed. I went there ready to pay for it and they were honest enough to tell me I didn't need it. They replaced the started quickly and for a very fair price. I went there again a while later for another problem and had an equally great experience. Highly recommended.

The front desk lady, and andre I beleive that's his name makes u feel really welcomed when u come in.... there lobby is very very clean, most of all andre in my opinion is the most straight up and extremely honest mechanic I know..... my tie rods froze up went 2 firestone couldn't do the alignment, took it to shums auto they was able to warm the rods up and get it lose and did the job explained the before and after results to me.... Also told him about air coming out my tire vlv stem he showed me what the problem was, then I asked if he could replace the sensor being though it was 1 price he said no problem, they got the sensor off and told me they can repair the whole sensor which actually saved me $70.... These guys are top notch would highly recommend these guys to anyone.... great and honest people....
