Just getting emissions done, but the staff greeted me warmly. I was given a fairly accurate waiting time. Free refrigerated water was offered to me while I waited. Overall great experience, with the emissions staff member wishing me a great drive and a great day as I left. Well done!

I truly can’t say enough awesome things about Express Auto Service on route 1. I’ve been going there for many years with various cars but today was just exceptionally convenient and fast. They open at 8am so I got there 20 minutes early and was second in line. I was fully prepared to stand and wait but they called us right in to get started before they even open and I was out in under 30 minutes for an oil change and inspection. They have amazing customer service every single time, a nice waiting room with snacks/drinks, and I’ve never had to wait longer than an hour for any service. 10/10 recommend giving them a shot next time you need quick car service, just get there a little early. 🚗

Great Service! Had CV joints replaced on my Audi. Several months after the boot on the joints busted open. These guys scheduled me a day to drop my car off, and because it was still under their warranty they replaced them that day for free and I was able to pick the car up at the end of the day! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Can't say enough good things. First things first. My avalon was blowing extremely hot air. I had before getting my car serviced eaten at outback. Unfortunately I would come to learn I had unfortunately left my cash app card at outback. Instead of taking an uber they went out of their way to have one of their employees drive me and my son to outback to get my card. Unfortunately I would also come to learn someone had reported my card and cashapp locked my card. Express Auto trusted me enough to let me drive off and give me time to figure it out and come back with the payment before they closed. Even though I am still locked out of my money, a close friend blessed me enough to cover my bill. The character, the integrity and kindness is of Express is unmatched. You can tell it's truly who they are. and now my avalon is blowing winter cold. They will have my friends and family's business from here on out.

I have been a customer for several years. I'm generally very mistrustful of car repair places. I feel comfortable having them as my car service provider. First, every single person you encounter is friendly and professional. They don't make you wait forever. Every time I go there, whether for a repair, or inspection, they provide service without a long wait. Even if I show up with no appointment. They're fair on inspections. They don't "find" things wrong with your car unless there really is something wrong. As far as repairs, I wouldn't say their prices are cheap, but they're reasonable and fair. They're not out to cheat anybody. And when they repair your car, they do a good job. I highly recommend this business.

*GO HERE, TRUST ME!* On my 3 hr trip from MD to Va visiting home, I decided to stop & get my car inspection out of the way. I cannot tell you enough how impressed I was with this business! They are sweet & kind, do state inspections on the weekends...I was in & out in 10-15 minutes. They even have a garden area to wait, as well as inside & several other places. I will continue to come here in the future, & I live an hour & 1/2 away! They are so warm, friendly & no hassle. You can't beat the service & the price. They are more than worth it!!! Used to be a loyal customer of das garage. Recently Andy left and quality of service dropped immensely. Stopped in today to Express auto with no appointment and was able to get my wife's car serviced as well as my car state inspected in about 2 hours. Everyone at this location, starting with Vicki were amazing. I will continue to make Express Auto my go to shop for all my auto needs. Highly recommended.

We were on a trip back to Florida when I had an electrical issue in the ignition. I was able to get to a pet friendly hotel. I called express auto service. They were so nice as well as helpful. They said to have it towed to them. By noon the next day they had me on the road. It was very reasonable and fast. I recommend them to any one.

We consider ourselves regular customers of express auto. Each time we go to get our car serviced it’s returned fully repaired. I’m very happy with the car service we receive. However the reason for 4 stars is the extensive wait times. Last time I was there I was told my oil change will be only 45 minutes. I waited 2 hours, with no follow up. I had to follow up with the front desk myself. Situations like this has happened often. Customer service and accurate wait times need to be better.

We LOVE these guys! Always helpful, when something is wrong with our car instead of fixing it and charging us for it, they talk to you 1st and give you cheaper option, of you decide to go through them then they will get right on it, if you decide to go another route they are OK with that too. They are honest and really care about helping even thrown in a few freebies for us over our years of going to them. Keep in mind parts and labor are going to cost no matter where you go but the service, hospitality, caring nature, and personalized service they offer you can't get everywhere (to me a few more dollars to know you will be treated with the utmost care and honesty, is well worth it)

I got an oil change and state inspection in a hour! I've waited longer at the dealership for just an oil change before. I was very happy they were so quick and the cost was lower than I expected! They added air to my tires and were nice enough to vacuum out the front of my car, which meant so much to me! very unexpected and very kind! I've been raving about it all day!

Service is excellent but the last two times I've been there they keep leaving my hood open that's the only problem that I have with them I wish they would close my hood when they're done I go down the road and find that my hood is open kind of scary other than that they're great

I took our spare car for an inspection and they failed it on a few things. A few legitimate small items that I would of happily paid to have fixed to keep from taking it home, making the repairs myself, and going back for reinspection. They also failed me on an inner tie rod, which is not necessarily an expensive repair, but requires realignment so it ends up not being cheap. As soon as I got home I raised the vehicle and checked the tie rods. They were tight. The boots intact and not cracked. I had them reinspect it, and the manager checked and agreed. It was an honest mistake. The wheel did have some play, but it wasn't the tie rod and was within tolerance.

I want folks to know that Express Auto acts with integrity. I took my car for inspection. It needed new rear breaks ($600). My car is old and probably worth less than the repair cost. My wife and I were thinking about buying a minivan to replace it anyway. So, I told them to fail the inspection while we decided what to do. As we started to drive away, the brakes didn’t feel right, so I went back. They took a look and noticed their tech had accidentally poked something that caused a problem. They replaced the rear brakes for free. Then the car passed inspection.

This is a place I went to the first time to get my car inspected. The service was great and the waiting area is comfortable. I've been back since to get other work done to my car and haven't been disappointed by the way that they do their job. They don't try to push any more than what's necessary to do and the prices are fair. I would go to them first before I would go to the dealership where I bought my car to get anything fixed. Update 2022: I still feel the same way about this business. It's been a year since I've gotten work done and today I got my inspection done. Still a good experience, fair prices, and efficient service.

When it comes to detailing a car I am really picky because I learned how to clean and detail from an award winning show car detailing fanatic. I love this place! They have two waiting areas - one is a bit more kid friendly (which is a plus) and they always get my car done in a good amount of time! I found this place online. I needed an all wheel alignment and desperately needed a shop that I could get a discount at. I had to fill out a form online in order to receive the discount. And, they also gave me a time slot. Unfortunately, I was not in the system but the guy who helped me was super friendly to allow my car to be worked on immediately. I highly recommend this shop because they were very attentive and my children were able to complete school work along with watching TV and playing in the play area.

I was a little nervous based on a few Google reviews but I decided to give it a try. I'M SO GLAD I DID!! From the moment I stepped out of my car...Stephen walked me to the customer entrance. The gentlemen at the service desk were very courteous (even being busy processing paperwork and answering phones). The young lady that assisted me in checking out was nice as well. Excellent service. While the repair was expensive the team was upfront and honest with the cause and the required corrective action. They did not try to "milk" the problem at all as some auto shops are prone to do. The mechanical issue was exactly what I thought and the price to correct was well within the "industry standard" based on my research for the issue my truck was having. I appreciated how quickly they were able to fix my car and the loaner car provided was a "cost savings" to me because I did not have to hassle with a rental for the 2 days my car was in the shop. The staff is amazing! So polite and attentive. I loved the local ride to home/work option so I didn't have to spend the day in the waiting room. That said, the waiting room was clean and open, well appointed with snacks, drinks, magazines, a large tv, and plenty of chairs. I was told what was wrong with my car and given options for fixing it. I never felt pressured and never felt dramatics were used to scare me into repairs I could not afford. I was given two small discounts and they vacuumed the floor of the car too! Roger (manager I think) and Kevin (driver/runner) are both very respectful gentlemen. I also liked seeing women working at the shop. I will go here for future service and repairs.

Best service and quality ever. My wife and I were stranded in Fredericksburg after the ball joint in my f150 went out. The tow truck driver took us to another service mechanic because they were open on a Sunday and they did not seem interested in helping. The driver then called the owner of express auto explained what was going on and asked if he could put it in a bay ( because it wouldn’t drive without causing damage) to be worked on Monday AM. The owner relayed that he had let all his guys go early because it was 100+ degrees, but put it outside and they would get it first thing. I received a phone call Monday morning at 8:30. The gentleman explained what they saw and what they expected and when they expected it done. I called at noon to check in ,they were right on schedule. The technician had been working on it all morning outside where we had left it. When I arrived in the evening to pick it up it was sitting in the parking lot better than new. They had me on the road very quickly ,they were very reasonable and very professional. I would recommend Express Auto Service to anyone in the Fredericksburg area and would be willing to travel the two hours to have my truck serviced here again.

I've used express auto before, but after my dealership rejected my state inspection and gave me a suspicious estimate of almost $400 to fix the "suspension problem," I stopped by express auto for a second opinion. They assured my there was nothing wrong with my suspension and finished my inspection right there on the stop! Update: After filing a complaint through the BBB, the owner contacted me and offered to reimburse me for the part and install it for free. Although I'm glad that Express took care of it, I wish it didn't take a BBB complaint to reach this resolution. Original: I've been using Express for the last several years for Inspections and Emissions, and they've always seemed like decent people. My experience yesterday made me decide to never consider giving them another dime of my money. I dropped my car off Friday night for inspection and emissions in perfect driving condition. I get a call on Saturday morning and was told that something is wrong with my car and it won't start. They told me it started fine to bring it in the bay, but when they went to start it up for the emissions test it won't do anything so they just pushed it back to the parking lot. I stopped by there a few hours later to figure out what was going on, and the service manager tells me that the ignition is stuck in the on position but won't start so my battery is probably dead. I go out and immediately figure out that the ignition cylinder has somehow broke in their care. Most likely, they forced the key while the steering wheel was locked. When I pressed them on it, they said no they didn't force it or they'd replace it for free. I also asked why they didn't disconnect the battery since they knew the ignition was stuck in the on position and it would kill the battery. The manager just says they were busy and didn't think about it (what great customer care). He offered me nothing other than a jumper box to try to get my car started. That really doesn't sound like a manager who is going to admit fault and replace something his guys broke. I asked him how much it would cost to replace, and the part alone brand new is over $500. So, now I know they aren't claiming fault and taking a $500 hit. I guarantee the manager knew exactly what the problem was and when he saw how much it would cost to fix, he just said he doesn't know what happened, but he knows it wasn't their fault. I'm completely disgusted by the complete disregard this company shows for its customers, and I will make sure no one I know ever visits this place again. I used to recommend you guys to everyone. Now, your greed for $500 has cost you my business, as well as everyone I know, for life. I hope that $500 goes a long way for you...

Been a customer here for about 10 years. My wife and I have always been treated fairly. Sure its true that services are recommended, some are trivial, some are more, lets say important or necessary. My experience has been that they are pretty much spot on with their recommendations. You can always decline as there is no pressure to have work performed that you don't want. The lobby is clean and comfortable, coffee is always available and the television is (thankfully) on non news channels. You can drop your car off in the evening, they have a drop box. I have even been offered a loaner vehicle when having major repairs that require a longer wait time. My vehicle is 19+ years old, 200K+ miles and this shop helps keep it running in good form. For the record, I have shopped around, and even tried other service centers. I have always come back to express auto service.

When I was faced with mechanical problems on my Mercedes (my first at 80,000 miles), I decided to bring a friend with me to the checkin counter. Being a typical woman, and 80 years old, I have never taken the time to understand anything about cars, except drive them. We left the car to be diagnosed. Then a bit later, we received a call from one of the ladies at checkin explaining the mechanical diagnosis, along with the costs of labor and repair. As a female, I was totally in awe of her -- my friend listened and understood everything as he went into more detail with me. Of course, I am more focused on costs of the repair. I think I can sum up my visit with Express Auto this way -- MY FRIEND SAID IT BEST -- as he told me afterwards, "they had me when we first checked the car in. That said, Roger went out of his way yesterday to help us solve a problem with our 2007 Honda Civic. We have 62,000 miles on this car and had hoped it would be a great vehicle. Well, we learned yesterday that Honda Civics 2006 to early 2009 have a weak spot in the engine block (in case someone reading this has one, beware) and ours decided it was time to show itself. We also learned that Honda extended the warranty on these engines an extra 10 years. Unfortunately, we missed this deadline by 2 months. We called Honda and they can do nothing. We bought our car used from a trusted reliable source with 30,000 miles on the vehicle and have put another 30,000 on it and now it is done. We still owe on this car. We are truly disappointed and wish Honda would have let us know or offered a recall on these engines. Express Auto from our experience has always been honest, (I don't say that lightly) I've been burned by several auto repair businesses who claim to be honest. We will always have to repair broken vehicles. I'm not a mechanic, which means I need to trust the person, not only fixing my vehicle, but caring for me when I'm wondering what my next step will be financially, or when I feel like the wind has been knocked out of me and I need a moment to gather myself. I could see that Roger was genuinely concerned about our situation. He had the same thing happen to him and he took as much time as needed to make the calls to try and make this situation the best it could be.
