If you’re having car trouble, take your car here. Tim is the face of the operation, and has shown the most honesty and integrity out of any car mechanic I’ve come across. After my car’s engine refused to run, I took it here. They weren’t able to figure out what was wrong with it at first, but they did not charge me at all for the inspection. The next time I took my car there, they were able to figure out what was wrong and offer me plenty of good advice if my issue came up again. Their diagnostic and labor charge was HALF of what other people would charge just to maybe look at it later that week, while The Shop did it in a matter of a couple days. Trust these guys with your car. They are willing to communicate with you and work with you unlike a lot of other places I’ve been to, and they are absolutely transparent with costs, fix time, and your car’s issues.

We brought in our car that has been overheating. Another mechanic suggested some repairs to “fix” the problem. After 10 minutes of talking to Tim, he explained that the previously-recommended fixes were only going to put a bandaid on the problem and that, in his opinion and experience, he wouldn’t spend the money. He then let us know that we could bring a car by that we are considering buying and he would give us his honest assessment of it. I 100% recommend The Shop.

I went to Tim with what I thought was going to be an expensive battery replacement. Tim was very thorough with what was being done and every step of the process he made sure I was ok with what was being done. He was genuine and honest. First Time. Alternator was shot and needed replaced. Tim and The Shop got me in, confirmed the problem, and had the job done the same day. Great service. Great price. I think I found my new go to place for my car repairs. Second Time. Starter went out and needed replaced. I took my vehicle in the Tuesday after Memorial day weekend. Car was in and out in less than 3 hours. Fast work. Great service. Friendly people. Third Time. Engine was struggling to run or wouldn't run. Tim and The Shop diagnosed a bad air flow sensor. Part was replace and the car is running great. As much as I can I am making Tim and The Shop my mechanic of choice for my automotive repairs. Great service. Good prices. Extremely satisfied.

Had check engine light on and took it to the Shop. I advised Tim it appeared an O2 Sensor needed to be replaced and left it Friday night so hr can have his mechanic look at it Saturday morning. Tim is upfront and tells you the expdtations. He told me they would replace the sensor and have ready after lunch and he would call me. Just as he stated, he called me Saturday morning around 11am that my vehicle was ready. I highly recommend The Shop.

I recently went to the Repair shop, and as always they did a great job. The head manager Tim is really great, he takes time to listen to you and find out what is really going on. Then he let's you know what the problem is without trying to hike up the price. They really work with you and give you A 1 service. If I have anything wrong with my car this is the only place to go.

So glad I found The Shop. They replaced my catalytic converter and spark plugs after I had my check engine light Pop on and car started to run rough. Tim and The Shop in general are amazing. They have very fast turnaround, extremely good and friendly customer service, and very very reasonable pricing, and they don't partake in predatory up-selling practices. Tim is quick with a joke and will make your whole experience really comfortable and ensure that you know exactly what's up with your vehicle. He clearly lays out your options and lets you know what he thinks you should do and ultimately leaves the decision up to you. I feel like I even learned a bit about my car as he showed me specifically what was up and what could be done to fix it. I thought I'd have to leave my car in the shop for at least a week but these guys are amazing, they got everything done within a day or two and that includes ordering parts! I only wish they were located closer to me so that I didn't have to come to Houston each time I needed a repair done because I've never had this level of service from a mechanic before. Great experience, with a very trustworthy business model. The 1st time I brought my truck to the shop, it was after another mechanic business quoted me a $1200 brake job. Tim throughly looked and checked my vehicle and informed me I only needed brake fluid. Now, if there are any issues with my vehicle, I only take it to the shop!!!!

The thing I used to hate most in life was getting my car repaired, because it always felt like I was getting screwed over. The only time I've ever yelled at someone in public is at a repair place. Just waking into a repair place sent my stressed level through the roof. But The Shop has been an absolutely fantastic experience every time I've needed work. Many times I've brought my vehicle in, expecting it to be something major, and expensive. They could have done like other places and go straight to the most expensive diagnosis, but every time, they come back with an estimate that's a fraction of what I was expecting. Plus, it's the only place I go to in Houston for oil changes and state inspections. So now, when I have something going on with my vehicle, I still dread getting the estimate, but when I pull in to The Shop, I have full confidence that the estimate is going to be fair and honest. I can't express enough how stressful and unpleasant car repair used to be for me, but The Shop has taken all that potential anger away. Was referred to The Shop from the oil place down the road for an inspection. Tim let me know of a crack in the serpentine belt they found (original belt) and charged what I thought was a reasonable price and had me back on the road in an hour and a half despite having to have the belt delivered to their location. I was going to go to one of the dealership type shops to get my air conditioning fixed & routine maintenance. It was so scary because of recent bad experiences with the large mechanic shops and their outrageous prices. So I researched and found "The Shop" . 4.9 rating! Spoke to Mr Tim Smith and set up an appointment. He's a little further than I wanted to drive but boy am I glad I did. I now have a mechanic I trust and who won't take advantage of me. His prices are very reasonable & affordable. They fixed my air conditioning and performed the routine maintenance. The only thing he recommended when he called to tell me my car was ready was that my engine filter needed to be replaced. Yes this was definitely reasonable with (142k) miles. I can’t recommend this place more! Being a women it’s really hard to find somewhere that won’t upsell or tell you false information just because you’re a women. I know what’s wrong with me car, and I know when auto mechanics overprice me. Especially with my old old car. Tim is always sweet and always explains everything he’ll do. I’ve gone there for some help replacing my powering steering pump, a co2 filter, and an oil change. Highly recommend this place!

Tim and the crew have always done good work. During my recent visit a hose was left disconnected during service which led to poor engine performance. I returned the same morning but was told I couldn't be squeezed in until the following day. I was disappointed to have to wait an entire day for a 10 minute fix, for an issue that should not have occurred in the first place.

After this, I’ll be bringing my vehicles exclusively to The Shop. My Jaguar had a coolant leak located behind the engine, which was impossible for me to get to myself. I was worried that the cost for this type of repair would be astronomical and that my car wouldn’t run well afterward. I knew that sensors would probably be going off, unless I took it to the Jaguar dealership. I also knew how much Jaguar would charge. I decided to give The Shop a chance and expected to be without that car for a week. These guys had my car repaired and back on the road within 24 hours. Tim was my contact. He’s extremely professional and a straight shooter, which both seem to be rare qualities these days. His estimate was honest, he didn’t try to up charge for other repairs, the repair was incredibly quick, and my car is running like new. Not one sensor is lighting up. I know I’ll need brakes, oil changes, other repairs and general maintenance eventually. The Shop will get all of my business. I highly recommend these guys!

They had an opportunity to rebuild my transmission, but instead had me call the dealership because they researched and found that my car most likely had a power train warranty. And I ended up getting my transmission rebuilt for free!!! The Shop has my business for life! The honesty they work by is enough to keep me coming, but even still they are kind and informative. First review I have ever given, that is how good this place is. I had taken my truck to another local shop for a brake issue and front wheel bearing replacement. The other shop informed me there was a leak in the rear main seal which would cost $1,900 to repair. I called a few other places to get estimates on that over the phone and they were about the same, so I said go ahead. They ended up telling me they couldn’t get the exhaust manifold off without snapping the bolts and gave me the option to just back out of the repair, which I did. I went and picked it up and there was a new noise, which after bringing it right back turned out to be an exhaust leak caused by them messing with the exhaust manifold. They ended up “repairing” it for free but they did a poor job and it was still happening. This is when I took it to The Shop on recommendation from someone else. I am so glad I did. AMAZING shop and staff. Tim called me every day my truck was there to keep me up to date. They did my inspection, fixed the brake issue the other shop neglected, fixed the exhaust leak, fixed the rear main seal leak and popped my 4wd knob back into place for $500 cheaper than the other place was charging me for just the rear main seal. When I picked it up, Tim took me into the shop and showed me my old exhaust manifold because the bolts were, in fact, stuck. He said they would have had to get them drilled out and it would have taken much longer to get it to a machinist to do, so instead, he replaced it completely... for free. On top of everything else, Tim is just a GOOD GUY who genuinely cares about his customers. I will never bring my truck or any vehicle I own anywhere else and will recommend this place to everyone I know.

I came there because I was having trouble getting my headlight changed. Tim, the manager was really nice and got me right in to put in the headlight I bought from another store. Within 15 minutes they got those stubborn bulbs out and replaced with my new ones. He also charged a very reasonable price that I didn't mind paying because of the service. Highly Recommended! Tim was amazing to work with. Due to the pandemic my husband has not left the house for health reasons. So when we had car issues Tim was recommended to us, Tim took several calls from my husband who is very knowledgeable with cars. When it came to test driving the car he noticed the gas light was on and was very gracious to put some gas in the car so a proper test drive without worries can be done. This place gives top notch service. They are friendly, thorough, and keep you informed. They can be hard to spot from the road, but well worth the effort. Tim is the primary contact and he is amazing. My truck’s catalytic converter was stolen, and he walked me through process of getting things taken care of. If you live in Atascocita or surrounding areas, this is the place to get your vehicle maintained or repaired. There are other places nearby, and I have tried them all, having lived in the area many years. The Shop will shuttle you back home if needed. BTW, the gentleman who provided a shuttle ride was courteous and a lovely conversationalist which made me smile and helped soften the sting of being a victim of catalytic converter thieves. 😊 Oh! The BEST and most honest auto mechanic shop I have ever had do work on a vehicle. Tim, the manager, was open, honest and showed me exactly what was wrong outside of what we had already diagnosed. He gave me a price breakdown, explaining everything. Ron, the mechanic, fixed everything down to a T and got my car driving like it was new again. Great service! I stopped in after the dealership said I needed my brakes replaced. Tim and Ryan were very helpful and pulled the tires to inspect the brakes to make sure that I did need replacement. They showed me the brake pads and gave me an estimate which was considerably lower than the dealership. I took my car back the next day for service and they had it in and out within a couple of hours. They did a great job and I feel very comfortable and confident going back to The Shop for future services.

I am so glad I pulled over when I saw their sign!!! I initially came in for an inspection sticker and they were so nice. I forgot that a car wash took off my windshield wiper due to one of the brushes. I ended up going to another mechanic for several services including brakes and it was a nightmare! He kept my car for over a month and I literally had to lie for him to work on my car. When I got my car I knew something wasn’t right. I called the Shop and they still remembered me from weeks prior. I found The Shop and Tim online several years ago when searching for someone knowledgeable I could trust to honorably service my girlfriend's then-2011 Accord. She lives there in Atascocita, and I live in Austin. Many cars later across both our households Tim is our absolute default guy for all things automotive, from routine service, major repair, and consulting on new (new to us anyway) vehicle acquisitions. I have referred Tim to my family who also live in the area, and everyone I know who uses The Shop once never again goes anywhere else. Heck, I even sometimes try to schedule routine maintenance on my Mazda so that it happens when I'm in Houston so Tim and his guys can do it! I had a problem with my transmission and Tim advise me to check with my vehicle’s manufacturer for warranty because he thought there was a good possibility that it was still under warranty. After I found out that it was not under warranty I took it back to Tim and they took care of the problem. They are very honest and will always look out for your safety and pocket. I had the best experience at The Shop. The level of care these guys showed when working with me and my vehicle is unmatched. I had to visit the shop when my van, which is also my house, broke down on my way out of town. It was a very stressful experience but the guys at The Shop showed me compassion as well as quickly got my van ready to hit the road again. Absolutely wonderful experience. Called first and spoke with Randy. Told me to go ahead and bring the car up and they would check it out. Tim called and said it was misfiring. Actually picked the car up the day before from another shop who changed plugs and coils. Unfortunately the other shop didn’t tighten the spark plug. He fixed that drove the car again and noticed the car was slipping when changing gears. I had suspected the transmission was slipping too. He said unfortunately he did not work on that kind of transmission. It’s a 2014 VW CC with a DSG transmission. Unfortunately most shops don’t work on that kind. If I could give these guys 6 stars, I would. After another mechanic told me I needed a new clutch and new transmission, I took the car to The Shop after reading many good recommendations. Staff at the shop immediately starting asking questions to help diagnose the issue and were receptive to my suggestions regarding the clutch slave cylinder. They test-drove the car and said they honestly couldn't find anything wrong, other than that the car has high mileage and might shift stiff sometimes. Since they couldn't find anything wrong, they didn't even charge me. The entire time the car was with them I felt informed and confident in their diagnosis. Overall I highly recommend these mechanics, they are exceptional.

The leading reason was the warranty length of time they offer on repairs. I suspected my vehicle to have major engine damage based on the symptoms but to my surprise it was nothing major. Went in for a simple wheel alignment for my truck and that is exactly what I got. Price was reasonable and no other "offers" made for additional service. They shuttled me home and picked me up. When I got the phone call that the truck was ready I was ready to field the traditional addons like Oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, belts, brake pads, etc. I do my own maintenance so I was ready to argue. You've found the most honest auto repair shop in SE Texas. Our 02 Avalon's radiator neck broke in half. Looking for repairs, we came across "The Shop" on 1960. Tim went over our needs, including a thermostat since we had overheated. I asked about the hoses, knowing they were near new and in good shape, just to see what he would say. Tim's response? "No, your hoses are in good shape. If you want me to replace them, I will, but it's not necessary." Alright, he's talking legit. So, we leave the car. Same day, the call comes, & the car is ready. We couldn't get off work in time to pick it up before Tim closed. "No problem! We'll pull it inside & see you in the morning." We pick up the car and Lisa heads off to work in the Woodlands. She calls and says everything is fine once she arrives. That evening, she started on her way home, & the upper hose pops off, drains all the water, and redlines. She calls me stuck on the I-45 emergency lane. I'm livid. I get her home out of the heat, & return to the car. There's now a "safe clear" wrecker there. After a discussion, the car is loaded up and headed home. Once we get there, I check it out and find the hose is popped off as the clamp had not been secured. I put the hose back on, clamp it, and check things out. Seemingly, no harm, no foul. I'm just out $20 or so in antifreeze. No big deal, but irritating nonetheless. I go to back the car out of the driveway. Car won't back up as I've now got a control arm snapped underneath, while the other one is severly bent, apparently due to the safe clear wrecker driver hooking the car up incorrectly. It's the 4th & Tim is closed. 1st thing Thurs morning (the 5th), I make the call. Tim jumps into action, sets up a tow to pick up the car again (now @ our house all the way down in Houston), & begins the 2nd round of repairs. We're now $700 in (adding in the 1st tow); Tim tells us we're looking at another $600 to replace both of the control arms. Again, not happy, but we need the car for work so what can we do? It's now Fri morning (the 6th). Tim calls as the car is ready, so we head to the shop. This time, I give the repairs a "white glove test". Everything seems in place, so I go to speak with Tim. He goes over the new invoice & I balk. He didn't charge for the 2nd thermostat, nor the additional work associated with the radiator, however, he had charged us for labor on the arm replacements. I tell Tim I didn't feel we should be on the hook for labor since it was the shop's fault for not clamping the upper radiator hose in the 1st place, which was the reason the car was up on the wrecker for the 2nd time, resulting in the damage. Happy to pay for the new parts, since the car benefits from them, but not the labor. Tim didn't skip a beat. He looked me in the eyes and said "You are absolutely right." removing the labor from the invoice. He also ate $120 for the wrecker, which I hadn't even mentioned..and truthfully didn't even consider. Our walk out price for the second service? Two control arms. Nothing else. Tim apologizes once again & invites us to re-visit him. We are now customers for life. We're now on a trip to Mineola for a wedding with the Avalon, which we had told Tim we were going to do. I was nervous about taking it, as was Tim, but had no choice. The other car is a Mustang with very little back seat for two teenagers on a 600 mile roundtrip. Not an option. We're 45 mins out of town & the phone rings. It's Tim checking on us. He gives me his cell # just in case. Above and beyond any expectations I had for him and the business. We were 1st time customers, but I assure you it wasn't our last. This is the best customer service I have ever witnessed, and that comes from a couple of 20+ year Hilton hotel managers who know a thing or 2 about good service. He owned up to his mechanic's oversight, taking on full responsibility & doing more than was needed or expected to ensure our satisfaction and happiness on our departure. Firstly, I'd like to say that everyone there was very friendly and willing to personably work with you to get the service request completed. However, there were quite a few time and financially consuming issues that I hope to never come across again should I decide to come back by. So my story begins like this: I used to get all my major warranty related repairs done at a Texan Dodge dealership. But after having to deal with surprise additional cost on several different occasions, oil stains all over my door, seat, headliner, and carpet, I said "never again." So I decided to come to The Shop where I had been previously getting my vehicle inspected for the past 4 years. My particular issue had to do with a 4WD service light that came on one afternoon after getting off of work. So I called, The Shop, explained to them what was going on, and they said the warranty company should handle it. I brought it in later that week, and I was reaffirmed once again by one of the managers, whom said he called the warranty company and verified that the work would be covered by the extended warranty company. That day (or the following day, I don't recall), that all changed, and I was told that my repair wasn't covered. In the process of trying to repair my Jeep Grand Cherokee, they were given a slew of error codes and I suppose they decided that a reprogramming would fix it. This reprogramming was mentioned in a service bulletin that Jeep put out a while back; however, this type of repair wasn't covered under the extended warranty. This would have been fine if they would have told me, but instead, service was performed anyway without my acknowledgement, and I was essentially forced into paying a near $300 service fee for something I was told would be paid for. I was pretty upset about that given all the previous guarantees and assurances. I paid it, and just left it at what it was. Unfortunately, less than a month later, the light came back on. I called, and they told me to bring it back in to see what's going on. Now, the person that did the programming was only available during certain times and days of the week, so because of this and the shuttle not being available my vehicle was driven back and forth to The Shop at least 4-6 times costing me at least another $100+/- in gas alone. Towards the last visit, they were finally able to narrow the error code to a failed transfer case motor and a damaged plug. Now, being this has turned into a mechanical repair, the extended warranty company now covered the cost. Though they got it repaired and paid for through the extended warranty company, they still needed to reprogram it again to clear the error code, which meant another trip back to The Shop the following day. So that took place, and finally thinking that this is over, I get ready to get in my car, and find that someone got oil all over the door well of my vehicle that I just spent several hours detailing days before. The person I spoke to at the desk was kind enough to clean it up... Again, all in all, I feel that I could trust them with future repairs, but given the multitude of changes I went through I'd like to see a restructuring of how service calls are handled here. I still feel cheated out of the $300 I spent because of their misdiagnoses, and the gas I spent driving back and forth to The Shop. And I don't think they had any intentions of refunding this amount which I felt would have been fair given it was their mistake and not mine that they couldn't get an exact readout and chose the repair method they did. I hope in the future they take the time to make sure their customers are aware of major changes to the promises given earlier on--especially the several hundred dollar ones. I also hope that they start utilizing a "once over" to ensure that the vehicle goes out the way it came in. If I can come in knowing I can get that, they'd have my business for life!

Honesty is their business. As a woman when our check engine light comes on, we panic right. I took my car for a diagnostic at another shop and the diagnostic system read "P0456" which is an Evaporative System Leak and this was causing my "CHECK ENGINE" light to come on. I took my vehicle to Z's Automotive Repair on FM 1960 and was quoted $585.00. The mechanic at Z's stated the Emission Hose needed to be replaced and the whole gas tank needed to be taken off. I couldn't afford the work at the time therefore I didn't get the repairs done at Z's automotive. Well I took my vehicle for an Oil Change at "The Shop" a couple of weeks later and Taylor in the front area noticed my inspection sticker expired and inquired about it. I explained the quote I received at Z's and Taylor said "Let us take a look at it". Long story short the only thing prompting my CHECK ENGINE light was a bad gas cap which "The Shop" replaced for $25.00. I was then able to pass inspection. I am thankful for Taylor and his expertise which saved me $560.00. The Shop has a loyal customer in me for life.
