I cannot rave enough about the service that was provided when my starter/alternator crashed on Jan 2. I called around to find a place to take my car, but everyplace I called was closed due to the New Years Holiday. Then I remembered driving by Dales on Vista and gave them a try. They were open and made room in their busy scheduled to help me. After careful analysis and multiple conversations David and Sam provided a reasonable estimate and had my car ready to drive in just a couple of days. Customer service was EXCELLENT and professional and I have now found a new place to get my car serviced. It is not easy to find an automotive place with this kind of service and honesty. I lucked out! Thanks guys. Good work! I am now a loyal customer.

We absolutely LOVE Dale's Auto Care! They are trustworthy and always go above and beyond. When they went to repair our car, they found some suspicious metal and took the time to investigate and then fix the extra problems [caused by the Dodge dealers repair shop while it was still under warranty last Fall]. It took a little extra time and money to do this fix and we were so grateful that Dale's Auto Care doesn't cut corners! Update: 11.20.22 We've used Dale's Auto several times for ours & our teenagers' cars since my first review. We LOVE this car repair shop- they know what they're doing and are honest and trustworthy [that can't be emphasized enough when you're talking possible costly repairs]. Plan 2 weeks in advance to get on the schedule.

Incredible service! I’ve had issues with my headlights for the past year or so- tried all the home repair kits and nothing seemed to work- went to Dale’s on my aunts recommendation. Dave and Sam really walked me though all my options and the associated prices and in the end they were able to dramatically improve my headlights with out having to resort to fully replace the entire headlight casing. They did a service inspection-and again- we’re great at walking me through the issues they found and outlining price quotes and highest to lowest priority issues so that I had all the information I needed to make a decision regarding the service. I’m incredibly thankful to have found such a great mechanic!

Went in for a gas leak. They could have tried to fix much more. They did what I asked for quick and friendly. Bit of a waiting list though, but that's the whole world is these days.

Based on the reviews of Dale's, I called and talked to the owner, Sam, about checking my 1994 Ranger's A/C. It was not blowing cold air, so I suspected it was low on Freon. Because Dale's was so busy, it took two weeks to schedule an appointment. I talked with Sam, and he discussed the procedure for diagnosing and repairing A/C issues. He impressed me with his knowledge of older vehicles that don't have electronic diagnostic capabilities. They discovered a leak in a high pressure port, which they replaced and then recharged the unit with Freon. Working perfectly now. Now that I had firsthand knowledge of the expertise of older vehicles, I asked Sam about my 93 year old mother-in-law's 1994 Explorer. For quite some time, she has been driving it when all of a sudden it shuts down completely. She has had to steel it to the side of the road without power steering or brakes. After waiting a short period of time, it starts again and runs okay. Then unexpectedly days or weeks later it does the same thing again. This has been very stressful for her and for my wife. Her mother does not have a cell phone, so she has had to rely on good citizens to call us or other relatives. She has taken it to Bruneel and Kendal Ford, but they have been unable to fix it. Sam ran through the most likely causes and the cost for their repair. Though he said he couldn't guarantee any one of them would fix her car, he said they were historically the electrical parts that most likely fail in her particular make and model year. After discussing it with my wife and her mother, we decided to go with the repair of the top three likely causes. Only time will tell, but her vehicle is running smoothly at the moment. I have confidence that Dale's has finally figured out what was wrong.

Finally looked online for reviews on local Boise mechanics and Dale's was nearby and had rave reviews. Thought I'd give them a try. I'm so glad that I did! Sam explained in detail what they were going to do before even starting diagnosis and repair. They found a stuck solenoid in the truck's EVAP system which was causing the code I had been ignoring. They repaired it quickly, affordably and had me back on the road. Really happy with my experience at Dale's! Beats the dealership any day.

This is a fairly priced, honest establishment. I've had several repair jobs with them and they're awesome! The guys at Dale's have been really up front with what my car has going on, what's best to work on now and what can wait, whether my car is a good candidate for putting more work into or what could indicate if it's a better idea to unload and just look for something else so I'm not left in a lurch. They are great about educating on what issues are so that you can make an informed decision on what to do. They're no-pressure, high quality mechanics. Highly recommend! Update: Went in for an oil change & to have my brakes checked. They could have just told me my brakes were bad, replaced them & charged me & I would have been none the wiser. Instead, they checked them, saw they were fine/still had life & called to let me know what was likely the reason for the brake noise I had been hearing & how much life the brakes still had. Appreciate having honest & hardworking mechanics in my neighborhood!

I came in with a few different problems with my windows. I was well taken care of and the shop called me a few times to relay their findings and keep me updated on the pricing. While it turned out to be more expensive than what I was originally quoted, it was because they couldn’t find used parts since my car is so old. So totally not on them. I would absolutely come back again, and will definitely make Dale’s my auto care choice!

I blew out my ABS and came from rose hill red light with no brakes, emergency brake to the floor, rear tires smoking a hail of white smoke trailing me, almost hit a city bus, and had to run up the curb to slow down, it took 2 miles and alot of cussing to stop. Dale's worked me in, had parts Coming, and had me out again on the next day. I personally think that they are awesome. They've always been there for me. And reasonably priced.

I've done business with Dale's Auto Care on numerous occasions, and each time, they deliver. Most recently, I flew into town on a Sunday, hopped in my truck, only to find it was overheating a few minutes later. I hobbled over to Dale's and left it. At 9am the very next morning (Monday) they called me so I could explain the symptoms. In spite of being super busy, they found time to diagnose the problem (water pump) and begin the repairs. The following afternoon, they called to report that my truck was ready to go! They're prompt, courteous, helpful, honest, fair, professional, and they do a great job of keeping the customer informed. It seems there's nothing they can't fix, from transmissions to brakes, and air conditioning to power steering. They do it all. I highly recommend Dale's Auto Care. They're a first class operation.

Very good mechanics. I appreciate how the staff at Dale's Auto takes the time to explain things to me about my car. They make sound recommendations and have very good customer service. I recommend this auto shop. Update in Oct. 2020 - Dales just saved me big bucks; another local mechanic told us the head gaskets were blown on our car (the repair cost was going to be more than the car was worth). I got a second opinion from Dales - only to learn that our head gaskets were not blown, and the fix (new water pump) cost us just over $300 instead of a couple thousand $$. Just another reason that I trust and use Dales Auto for our auto repairs.

We have gone to Dale's for years. We have never found a mechanic that was so honest and straightforward. Sam has saved our cars from so many issues, and even kept our ancient Camry running many years longer than it normally would have. He is honest, and his prices are great. I know that when I ask him to check our car for a road trip, he will not try to fix a bunch of unnecessary issues just to get a bigger paycheck. They are the best, and you definitely should trust them with your business!

Overall good experience. Feel like so far my car is running better. I believe they did the MANY maintenance tasks they pinpointed. Dales also did all of this in 1 day, and for a discounted price using the 5% cash payment, etc. to keep my older 2006 car running in tip top shape. The employees were also very helpful and friendly and they guarantee their work. If you need any general engine work on your car I recommend this place. They stay booked so be prepared to set an appointment. Dales Auto Care is the most reliable mechanic shop I know of. Way cheaper than say Goodyear superior tire, firestone, etc. They also won't lie to you just so you spend more money. Great job guys. Keep up how you do business. There aren't many like you still around.

I scheduled an appointment to have my brake pads replaced at Dale’s Auto Care. Shortly after dropping it off, I received a call from Sam letting me know that my brake pads were in good shape with 6mm thickness, and that the squeaking was likely due to rust built up over time from changes in the weather. He let me know that there were no concerns from a safety perspective and made me aware of treatment option that could help eliminate the squeaking. There was no pressure on me to get the treatment which I appreciated. I opted for the treatment since it was reasonably priced, and it seems to have taken care of the issue. I will definitely use their services again in the future!

I took a vehicle to Dale’s in February, 2019. I wanted an inspection done on the vehicle to know what was wrong with it. Sam was very patient and understanding, talking to me for as long as 25 minutes on one call. Sam invited me down to get a walk-through on the vehicle. They put it on a lift and both Sam and a very knowledgeable mechanic named Mike gave me an extremely thorough review of the vehicle. Their customer service was fantastic. I trust their opinion, judgment and integrity fully. For the amount of effort they put in to make me an informed customer, I highly recommend them. Ok long story short...tires on my Buick were shredding and r.front was flat... I changed it to the spare the night b4 going across town to have new tires put on...next morning spare was flat ..and wouldn't hold air...dales car care is a block away..i called them to see if they had a used tire to sell just so I could get my car across town.they did not however they had new tires..the price was close to the same as access town advice other store..cool..can ya all sell mount and balance tomarrow I ask....russ says we are booked..then he says ya we can squeeze you in tomarrow morning....SOLD!!.. This is highly unusual around here..the service was awesome price are good!!plus Russ treated me like a friend!! Recently my key got stuck in my ignition and needed replaced ..they got it done for me and it works great ..they are awesome

I am new to the area and had no clue where to take my car when it broke. Thankfully i found Dales on google and it was less than a mile from my house. I stopped in and they instantly made me feel better about my situation! Unfortunately it was a bigger issue than I thought, they quoted me a price that I was willing to pay, yet when i picked up my car it was WAAAY cheaper! I was very pleased with the response time and cheerful attitudes at Dales auto. They were very professional and i will definitely be returning to them for my future car troubles!

Overall a great experience! It took a lot of troubleshooting to identify the issue but they were able to perform the repair without replacing parts that didn't need replaced, as some shops are apt to do. I gave four stars because after I got home I discovered that my positive battery terminal was in really bad shape and they didn't mention it. I realize the condition of the terminal is my fault but I would have preferred an opportunity to let them fix it. As a result my truck was out of commission for another week while I tracked down a new part and replaced it. Otherwise a great experience and I plan to return to Dale's for future auto repairs and service!

Took my car in for new tires and Dales auto care exceeded my expectations with the customer service received. They went above and beyond to get new tires ordered before winter hit. They called within a day to let me know that they received the tires in and I could come in to get them installed as my schedule permitted. We recently broke down coming home from a trip, we managed to find an airbnb down the road from Dale's and called them first thing Monday morning. They got our car in and diagnosed the issue that day. They were very professional and worked with us to find the best option for us to get back on the road and get home. As a woman, and a traveler, I appreciated their honesty and clear communication, they were willing to explain the issues a couple times so that I was able to understand what was going on. I would have been a very easy mark to take advantage of, I really didn't have any other options and even though I was raised in Boise I no longer have ties there, Dale's really made it easy and I felt that they dealt with me honestly. My only car broke down, called them for a quote. Towed my car over there and they had it fixed by the end of the day. They were scheduled out till April 7th, but since it was a vehicle I depended on, they got it done so quick! Amazing and quick service- I had the option to pay cash.

We have been using Dale’s for around 6 years now, off a recommendation from a friend. I have never been disappointed with their service and care for me or my cars! They have always given me an honest and knowledgeable opinion on my car issues (which have ranged from a simple gas cap to major engine blowups), and take care to run through all possible issues. Their prices are affordable and reasonable, and they honor the warranties they give (different from some places I’ve been that try to snake you out of more money!) I had work done on a 2007 Ford 500 with a stripped oil drain plug (thanks Jiffy Lube). We weren't sure if the oil pan would be easily repaired, or if a new pan would be needed. The guys at Dale's gave me an estimate for 2 different options, and I gave them the keys. Fortunately, the cheaper option worked out, and they gave me a call to let me know the car was ready for me later that same day. The car has 260,000 miles so they pointed out a few other concerns to look out for. If or when those concerns need repair, I'll be giving Dale's a call.

Had my 2005 Ford Explorer towed there and even though they were scheduled a couple of weeks out, they were able to squeeze my appointment in literally the next day. They found the issue within a couple of hours, even though it confirmed my worst fear (timing chain broken). Dale’s Auto Care was recommended to me by a neighbor because of the great experiences they have had with them. I have not been let down. They do not go forward repairing the car unless they get the ok from me to do so. Once the repair is done they take the time to drive the car for some mileage to make sure everything is up to par. The receipt that is given to me has a detailed description of what was done as well as things that I may want to get fixed in the future...but no pressure to do so. Todd, the service manager, is the gentleman that I always talk to on the phone and at the front desk. He is very patient and helpful. I would highly recommend taking your car to Dale’s Auto Care when repairs and maintenance are needed.

This is the friendliest and most honest business I have ever had a reason to use. My car broke down over the weekend and I had my car towed to the shop without the opportunity to talk to them first. I have been a very satisfied client of Dale's Auto Care since the 70's, Dale Guyer owned it then. Then he retired and sold the business to Sam Gray. I continued having my vehicles serviced there because Dale spoke so highly of Sam Gray. Since Sam took over he upgraded the front office and the garage portion which gave the entire business a totally new look and feel. He changed to being open only Monday to Friday. I noticed his staff to be much happier. Sam is one who himself is a top master mechanic and only highers master mechanics with top mechanical qualifications. When I take my vehicle in for service, he does a complete inspection and reports to you what he finds. When I leave I know I have a save vehicle.

I've been going to Dale's for several years now. I've always been treated more than fairly. About 6 months ago, I brought my truck in on 3 consecutive days so they could diagnose a very intermittent electrical issue they couldn't replicate. They actually fixed it the first day they had it (didn't know it at the time because the problem didn't show up very often) but they kept probing on the issue. Long story short, they spent a lot of time in the issue and charged me $46. It was great service and they could have charged me a heck of a lot more and I wouldn't have thought anything about it--I felt guilty paying so little because I knew it was a tough issue to get a handle on. I have never had a better experience with a mechanic shop. The first time I went into them it was after my car had failed emissions. I had gone to a shop previously and was very unimpressed and felt the shop was kind of shady. I then went into Dale's and talk about a completely 180. Dale's was a breath of fresh air. They were able to get my emissions to a passable level and took my car over and did the testing for me at a 1/3 of the cost of what the other shop wanted to charge to just look at it. I also had mentioned how bad my brakes were and they were able to fix them at the same time for a reasonable price. Everytime I have gone in I have worked with Tod. He has always been easy to talk to, personable, and honest with me. Well I was in there he asked me about my life, what I was studying, and told me a little bit about himself. A real people person! He also was raving about how great his boss is, how much respect he has for him, and how much he enjoys working for somebody who actually cares about people! The next time I went in was to get a pretty gnarly oil leak I had checked out. They got my car in pretty quickly and called me the day of and gave me an update. They were completely honest with me and told me straight up how much it was going to cost to get it repaired. Even then they told me it was still probably the start of other problems down the road. After I decided it was time to say goodbye to my sentra they gave me good advice on what to do with it. They also were willing to look over any new car I ended up looking at. For somebody who doesn't know a lot about cars it is nice knowing that there are people like Tod and the rest of the crew over at Dale's that I know I can trust to give me an honest straight answer and know that I'm not being pressured into anything. I'm going to be graduating from Boise State here pretty soon and will probably be moving a way from Boise for a while and one of the things I worry about the most is being able to find a mechanic shop as honest and trustworthy as the people over at Dale's! Excellent customer care and service. Brought in a Mercury Mountaineer that had been mostly sitting idle in a garge over the last 5 years. They gave it a thorough check beyond the leaking differential that I had brought it in for initially. Turns out the leak was potentially coming out of the bearings due to it being overfilled from local dealership. Dale's lowered the fluid level and put dye in to check again after 300 or so miles. I have had very negative feelings towards mechanics my whole life because there are so many bad ones out there. My wife has used this place for her driving career I expected them to be just as crooked. I brought my car to them knowing it inside and out wanted to know what needed done. I knew it was fine but wanted a story of why I should work on my wifes car instead of them. after inspection nothing they said, oil didn't even need changed, it was free. Said bring it back by another time. We later had them do the timing belt on our 4.7 v8 four runner and they had the prefect price, did it timely and are extremely honest at every oil change. I actually tried to complain about these guys but I truly think this is a better buisness than most. Thanks guys
