When visiting Baltimore from 600 miles away our car started having a noise in the front end. We took it to Top Gear to inspect (I thought it was a wheel bearing) but they drove it, looked at it on a tack for 30 minutes and took me out and showed me the CV Joints we’re both bad. One more than the other. When the guy at the counter got my address and realized we were way out of town I could tell he was genuinely concern for our situation. He said it would be about 5:00 ( and that’s normal) so we decided to stay another night at the beautiful Marriott Baltimore Waterfront because, why not. He called me at 2:30! Telling me it was ready..! 2:30!! That was awesome. We of course stayed and the car is driving wonderful. The price was exactly what I thought it would be so the DID NOT price gouge or mark up, nothing. I don’t know about other garages, but if I lived here I would go to Top Gear for every repair. I’m very impressed.

Excellent service! I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and honest they were, and at a great price! I paid $85 for my inspection when everyone else isn’t he area was quoting be between 90 & 120. I am so used to waiting hours and having mechanics tell me that I need repairs I know I don’t need (my mother and grandfather were both mechanics and taught me the trade). I am optimistic that this will be my new regular mechanic!

Called in the morning needing a short-notice Maryland first-time vehicle safety inspection. He said sure, stop on by. I dropped the car off and waited in the lobby since it was my only ride (great wifi btw). The vehicle almost passed but a bushing on a piece of the suspension was damaged (they had the owner come look at it to see if they could pass it, but it was just too damaged.) They got a replacement part in half an hour and had it replaced in less than 2 hours since notification. They even brought the broken part out to prove it was damaged and why it failed the inspection. A bit higher on the labor costs, but I couldn't complain because I was a walk-in and was able to get everything registered the same day!

They do MD Inspections under 1hr if your 1st at the shop. They open at 8am on Saturdays, but the mechanics didn't show up till 8:30am Mechanics are informative and willing to answer questions pertaining to your car.

I was able to get a same day appointment and had my state inspection done here. It was pretty fast (70 minutes), reasonably priced, and everyone was very nice. I waited there while my car was getting looked at; they offered me water several times and the waiting room was very comfortable. I appreciated them running through any other information I would need for my registration since I was moving from out of state as well. I plan on going back when I need an inspection again.

This place has always had great service, and supportive staff. Quality and professional recommendations, timely and not too harsh. Other shops tried to give me the run around to jack up prices on repairs but they gave it to me straight and got my inspection done quickly

The inspection took a bit over 90 minutes, and it is recommended that you call to make an appointment...mine was same day. I called around 10:30am on a Saturday and was told there was availability at 1pm.

My apologies for the first rating that was not what I wrote. Again if you have stereo,tires, Tim's and tint they do it all with perfection!!!

I will be coming here very regularly because of the whole team who took time out to provide such an excellent service even though I initially didn’t have my wheel lock but they gave me time to bring it and still provided such a prompt service. Just moved into the area and Top Gear does not disappoint! For me, they were easy to get a hold of on the phone, and at the shop they were professional, friendly, honest, and courteous. Even while I was waiting for my car in the lobby, I could tell they were trying to do whatever they could for the two phone callers, not talking down to them or gruff or anything. I totally recommend Top Gear. I'm even going to return in a couple of days with another car.

I called for a MD state inspection on a Saturday. I REALLY needed it done fast! They took me right in. Did their job, offered me a cold drink, and finished really fast. They were warm in conversation and even complimented my car. I felt really great about the experience. I even heard them talking to a customer about a repair and was explaining all of the costs and why it needed repaired. Very open. When my warranty runs out, I will definitely come here for repairs. Thank You, Top Gear! Later I did find a circular scratch on my black painted wheel from where the mechanic took the tire off and rebalanced it. Not sure why they didn't cover it. Probably a clamp while spin balancing. I'm changing my rating.

I had an excellent experience getting my Maryland State Inspection at Top Gear. Availability to come in was super convenient as I was able to drive straight there after calling for an appointment. Great they are open on weekends. My wait time for the inspection was reasonable and the service was honest, friendly, and a good price. I would definitely recommend coming here and I will be returning for any work for my Prius in the future.

I just moved to this area about 2 months ago and needed a Maryland state inspection and an oil change and Top Gear was amazing! It is always really hard to find a reliable car shop that you can trust and also feel comfortable with as a woman and they were nothing short of AMAZING! They estimated a 90 minute wait and I threw on a Oil change and they had me in and out within an hour!

I had a very good experience here. I called ahead asking for a basic Maryland state inspection. They originally told me the inspection would take 90 minutes; but, they were done in 40 minutes and I did not have to wait in line...very prompt and friendly service. It is always nice when a place is able to give you what you ask for in less time than expected.

This shop was awesome. The only one I could find to do inspections on Saturday. I really liked that you could see into the shop from both the outside and from the waiting area. Very friendly staff. My vehicle did not immediately pass (window tinting) and they were able to get me to a local shop to remove the tint and reevaluate and pass the same day. Highly recommend!

I love this shop. I had one small issue where one associate gave me a different price for work than the manager. Ever since, the service has been on point, I never have issues, and I'm always back on the road within a few hours. Pricing is usually never too high, and the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and largely transparent.

It's been four years since i have know Top Gear. Ever since then a lot of my relatives and friends have made their trips to the place. It was about four years ago. I remember everything vividly. It was a hot summer day. It seemed business as usual for the world except for me. I had several appointments to meet that day, a dentist appointment for my daughter, a regular health check up for my son, and a visit to my auto dealer. when I went to my car and turned the key on, it would not start. I kept trying for many times in vain. Worried and exhausted, i call my friend Suja. At once she gave me the no. to Auto Gear Shop. In no time they came and toed my car to their place. With all the courtesy I could have, they had me sit down on their lobby and in no time was it fixed. I was now afraid of the service fee they would charge, but no, it was nowhere close to what I had feared. It was way too cheap. Except for a little delay to my first appointment, I made all other appointments on time. Thanks to the extraordinary job of "Top Gear". I told this story to a lot of my relatives and friends, most of whom are now Top Gear's die hard fans.

I went here to get a service done and to get a state safety inspection for the MVA. Actual service on my car was very good, decently priced, fast. BUT When I went to the MVA, Top Gear had put the wrong date on my inspection certificate. They could not electronically send a copy to the MVA (which some mechanics can do). I had to leave the MVA, go to Top Gear, get a new certificate, and then deal with the MVA all over again (and if you live in Maryland you know what a joy that is). The service people gave me a half-hearted 'oops' when I showed them their mistake. No offer to give me a coupon, partial refund for my trouble, or even a genuine apology for wasting my morning.
