I called this guy about 7:45 am Friday morning in a panic. My muffle came loose and was dragging on the ground while I went up to Mission Hospital as my daughter was having a baby. He asked if I could drop it off so I was able to and get a ride back to the hospital. He called about noon said it was ready. I got over there and when I went to get my debit card. He said there was no charge???!!!!! I told him I would at least like to pay him something but he wouldn’t take it. It was an easy fix apparently. I was shocked at this man’s kindness and gratitude. This has never happened to me before. And usually if I do take my car to a mechanic, I never have gotten out without it being $100 or more not to mention the callbacks I receive from other mechanics saying that my car needs this or it needs that. I can’t express the relief and the blessing I felt today because of his simple act of kindness.

This guy is AWESOME! Got there 30 mins before he opened up shop on a Friday and was on my way out of town by 9am. He charged me $10 LESS to look at it and fix. The first place I took it to and charged me $50 to tell me to take it to a muffler shop. I got this service done 3 weeks ago and just remembered I wanted to come give him a review. That’s how good he is!!

Just had my Audi Q5 brakes done. This is the 4th vehicle that we've had serviced there. No appointments so it is best to get there early in the morning. They are honest, reliable, exceedingly reasonable in their pricing. Got a call before any work was done to make sure we were OK with the diagnosis. Oh yeah, we've always been totally satisfied with their work too!

After going to the local dealership and being quoted $1200 for a new exhaust, I went to see these guys for a second quote. I told them that I needed a new exhaust. They showed me it was a simple repair and that no replacement was necessary. They even tightened some other things that were loose and causing some rattling noises. Total cost, $40. It’s refreshing to deal with people who understand that honesty leads to longevity in business. If you need muffler or break work done, stop by and see these folks. They are honest, kind, and friendly.

I highly recommend this shop. My son goes to school down here so I was looking for an honest shop to replace the flex pipe located toward the front of the exhaust. He dropped the vehicle off at 7:30 AM and was done by noon. Fair pricing and honest work. It was well worth the 20 mile drive.

100% satisfied! I had the catalytic converter taken from 4Runner while it was parked in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Affordable Mufflers was able to replace the stolen parts for one-tenth the price quoted by the dealership. The work was done in less than a day. Needless to say, I was thrilled. Had a really good experience here. I haven't gotten my brakes done since buying my car and my car has 90K miles on it. I don't know anything about cars and would have believed anything they told me (friends and family told me I could be looking at a hefty bill depending on what was needed) but they ended up telling me I only needed front brake pads! I feel they were very honest and got me in quickly before my weekend trip to Kentucky. Definitely recommend!

My catalytic converters were stolen while on an overnight hike. I was given a fair price even when he knew I was from out of town and needed to be headed back home in two days. He got the work done quickly and I drove the 700 miles home without a single problem. If I am ever in that unfortunate situation again, I would not hesitate to go back.

This was a unique experience, they take appointments on a first come first serve basis, so my advice go at 7:15 am. I priced out new brake pads at several shops in Asheville, this shop was the most affordable in comparison. One shop wanted to charge me $500 for brake pads and new rotors I asked Gary if he could resurface the rotors I wanted to do that, he said they were still good enough to he resurfaced the other shop didn’t. I felt that they were honest, efficient and I waited maybe an hour. It’s been two weeks and my brakes work perfectly now!

I appreciate affordable mufflers and brakes so much! My brakes needed replacing and I was expecting to go in and be told all four needed new brakes. To my surprise I only needed two and was even given an estimate as to how long my other brakes would last. It is first come first serve so make sure to arrive early but I would recommend my friends and family to come here for brake repair or other car issues.

I read other reviews that explained that work is done here first come, first served so I went early to get in line for scheduling for the day and ended up waiting less time for the job completion than I have at other shops even with an appointment. I was quoted $350 and $400 to fix it at other places in Asheville but decided to give Affordable Mufflers and Brakes a try because of all the great reviews. I’m so glad I did! I will always recommend this shop as much as I can. I went there recently for the first time.. I was told good things by my friends and told to check it out. Needed some muffler repair. So I went and met the owner, told him my issue. Left my number and he said he would call in a couple days once he has my repair plan figured out. After a day or so, he called me with the repair plan and to tell me the parts for my car he ordered the day I came in arrived. I dropped my car off, and in about an hour or so.. He called me to tell me it was done. It got it done super quickly, and the price was unbeatable. And its quality work for sure. My car had the worst hole in the muffler, made the worst putter noise. Took our daughter's obnoxiously loud car in expecting a complicated, expensive fix. Instead of making up a bunch of things and charging way too much, he called a few hours after we dropped it off and told me it was a simple fix with minimal labor. The final price was remarkably reasonable. Our daughter drove off in a quiet, unoffensive car. He was friendly and proved to be honest and fair and I definitely recommend getting service done at Affordable. Just be ready to be up early - it's first come, first served.

Straightforward, honest, and swift. I went in last week with soft brakes and thought it was gonna be an expensive job. A quick diagnosis revealed I only needed an adjustment and my brakes are working great now. $60. Can't beat that! I feel a lot safer driving in the mountains with strong breaks. Many other places mighta tried to rip me off by tacking on a bunch of costs and unnecessary parts. Not here. Thank goodness. I will go here for future mechanical needs. Go early, it's first come, first served, and this mechanic is popular for good reason.

YOU MUST TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. Don't waste your time any place else. Seriously. Its first come first serve, best service ever. They care to do the job right. They fixed my car's muffler and also resurfaced my brakes EXTENDING the life of them. Gary could have easily said I needed to just get new brakes but he did not. The other place I had called wanted to charge me $200+ for brakes! Gary extended the life of mine. They ALSO went out of there way to see why my check engine light was on and gave me advice on where I should take it to get the codes looked at. BEST SERVICE EVER.

I took my vehicle to two shops before this one. The 1st store quoted me $650 for a brake job, whereas the second quoted me $350. This store not only began working on my vehicle at the crack of dawn, but also ended up doing an excellent job for $150. Whereas the other stores insisted I needed to replace my brake disks etc, the gentleman who worked on my vehicle opted to simply repair them, rather than try to squeeze extra cash out of me. I left feeling very happy, and could tell this establishment is run by good people who do good work, and will not try to take you for a ride.

Got our vehicle in same day and for less than $70 fixed an issue that had plagued our 14 Honda Odyssey for over a year, made worse braking downhill in the mountains. Dealer back home had said "nothing wrong". Highly recommend.

When he called and said my car was ready, he told me that I did not need a $100 muffler, only some replacement brackets. My car sounds great now and it only cost me $32 total. The service was great! Fast, friendly, and like the sign said affordable. 1) I was a walk in with a Jeep that had an exhaust rattle. (Bad catalytic converter) 2) They had one in stock. 3) I was in and out in about an hour. Please understand... I got lucky. I just drove up to have the problem identified so that I could set up an appointment for some time later. They were almost finished with a break job that was ahead of me, and did not have any jobs lined up to do at that time. They took a minuet, identified the issue, finished the break job, and got to work on mine. I will definitely be using them again if my other car (daily driver) needs work.

Despite getting there during lunch time and at the end of a line of people, my experience was awesome. My muffler rusted off and fortunately I still had it, so I was just able to go (1st come, 1st served) and get a new piece of connecting pipe welded on for $35. Cheapest fix I've ever had on a car. Fastest fix I've ever had! From them taking the car into the garage, I was probably waiting only 20 minutes or so. Maybe less. I had a book, so I was distracted. Definitely recommend these guys!

Having been made to take a detour down Patton because of roadworks and thus being in a rush, my truck broke a shock absorber in one that street's many potholes. Even so, I was in and out of the shop in 45 minutes with a new muffler and two new rear shocks for half the price I would have paid anywhere else. Best service ever!

Wow...Gary is AWESOME! So friendly, knowledgable, and fast. I came in with a cat back system I had ordered online for my 84 vw and he didn't flinch at all. He just needed to get it up on the lift and get to it.I was third in line behind a 50's mercury and a late model caddy. (Needless to say he has the experience and know how to work on anything!) in and out in less than an hour and less than half of what I came in expecting to spend after quotes from other shops! 5 stars for sure...thanks Gary!

Honest, friendly, and fair. Called the day before to see if he would be able to tackle my project. Said he'd never worked on my model before, but said it sounded like fun (that's my kind of mechanic!). I was the first one there at 7:30 in the morning. In true first come, first serve fashion he took my car right in, got to work, and didn't stop until he was finished, even though others were waiting. Then, from what I've read about what I had done, he charged me nearly HALF of what I was expecting to pay. Very impressed!

I have known Gary most of my adult life (a long time!!) He has always done me right. I took my truck to him last week for a muffler and tailpipe. He also took care of a sensor so that I could get an inspection . He noticed that the U bolts were rusted and one was even broken! If he had not told me about that I probably never would have known and it could have been very costly and even dangerous. If you need brake or muffler work you can't go wrong here . I just went to affordable muffler an brakes. I had a freon leak an it made me sick well i got it fixed by a company in Hendersonville. When i got the vehicle back i still was having headaches an getting sick well they said they ran test an that it was just dust in my car. Well i took it to affordable muffler this morning an within 5 mins he found the leak an had it fixed. He was very promt, courteous, an extremly reasonably priced. If you have any exhaust issues come to this place they are located near labor ready in downtown asheville. I seen a couple of negative reviews on here but im self employeed an you cant please everyone. Some people look to sabotage others. With that said when you review this company dont go off those 2 bad reviews go off the other alnost 100 great reviews an go to this guy he wont let you down.

A combination of my motor mounts needing replacement and 11 winters spent in the northeast combined to kill the flex pipe in my 2004 MDX. Got the motor mounts replaced & took it in to Gary this morning. I had emailed back & forth regarding hours & availability. Dropped it off around 8:00 this morning and was ready to go by 9:15. Gary is a real pro - knows exactly what he's doing and has all the parts/tools/equipment. And to top it off, the price is right. I highly recommend Gary, he deserves all the great reviews.

I can't imagine why one would take their car anywhere else! Dropped off my Subaru with a rusted out flange at 730am and by the time I reached my office before 8am they called and my car was done! I should have listened to them and waited. Incredibly fast service and the repair was $30.

I came here as an out of towner because it was recommended by several people on reddit after being told at AVERY tire I needed new brakes and calipers. Chevy dealer in town wanted over 1K to get my breaks up to speed for inspection. Affordable Mufflers and Breaks did the work for just over 250 bucks. They fixed my calipers (that the Chevy dealer charged me 50 bucks to tell me they needed replacing). After a bad experience at the dealer, it was refreshing to find an honest break shop here in Asheville. Tell your friends this is place in Asheville for breaks!
