I went there the other day for the routine transmission fluid change. Which is cheaper than chain mechanic shops, btw. I knew I had previous coolant leaking issues and thought it got fixed at a different place, but Andrew and Greg were nice enough to show me what they were seeing and explained to me what they thought the issue was. Turns out my water pump was crack and they gave me a quote for it that service. I went back the following day and got that service done. They were beyond helpful and courteous! I'm so happy I took my car here! I will highly suggest Budget Transmission Masters to any friends or family who is needing their car to get worked on. Thank you again Andrew & Greg for taking your time to explain to me the issue and talking care of my car! Bob is also really nice!

Integrity Maintenance

We are a small business that is very busy. Transmission went out on one of our trucks and this really hinders you from giving quality service. Checked reviews of several companies and Budget Transmissions was one of them. Two other companies gave me quotes and one said it would be mid-March. Called Budget and talked to Andrew. Very polite and informative. He checked several vendors and found a transmission back east. They diagnosed vehicle on a Monday. Transmission came in that following Friday. Called me first thing on Tuesday and told me vehicle would be ready that afternoon. What can I say but thank you. $2000 dollars less and six weeks earlier than others. To a small business that wants to service all their customers properties for their landscaping needs, this was a lifesaver. Already getting ready to bring another vehicle in just for routine maintenance. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to others.

My car was leaking transmission fluid pretty bad and these guys found the issue and fixed it free of charge. Their honesty and affordable prices, allowed me to then have the much needed maintenance draining and filling on the transmission and transfer case done. They were the only company that made an effort to get me in before my leak caused a bigger problem and the truly outstanding customer service was reflected from the first phone call I made to them as well as in the shop dropping off and picking up my vehicle. Andrew Baca at Budget Transmission made my experience with them one of the best I’ve had with any auto mechanic type company in my life. Not only was he and his team very knowledgeable, but they went above and beyond in customer service and ensuring I was taken care of. When my Hyundai Elantra’s transmission went out, they got me in faster than Hyundai even could despite it being under Hyundai’s warranty. I highly recommend Andrew and the rest of the team at budget for the best possible experience.

The only way to give complete credit to this fine business is to acknowledge each service separately. I was eleven hours and 765 miles into a 2,000 mile trip to move my daughter with a trailer and all of her belongings. My transmission completely failed in Santa Rosa 120 miles from Albuquerque. After making several calls and discovering that all the shops that I contacted told me there would be a 3 to 5 week wait or more for the work to be done on my truck. Bob’s shop is AAA rated and I felt confident in that. When I arrived, Bob greeted me with dignity and true concern for his clients, he is a true gentleman. When I explained my situation he made a promise to get the job done as soon as possible. Bob and his team were able to get a transmission for me. He even recommended a hotel near bye and arranged for me to be driven there. Days not weeks later the job was completed. My daughter was able to get to her new job without me and I was able to reunite with her several days later with all of her things. For such a lousy situation for me to be in, Bob really saved the story. Great Great Great I also must give gratitude to the office workers that took the information, started the process and kept me informed throughout the process. I cannot forget the mechanics that don’t usually get credit because they are in the grease and dirt doing the actual work to get things running. Without a good team all is bound to fail. Bob has a good team and I would recommend his shop to anyone needing work done to their vehicle.

I went to budget transmissions today and what a great experience. I was checked in by Kathy who was friendly and professional. I went in to get my transmission fluid as a result of a check engine light coming on. I had also spoken to Bob earlier in the week as well as Kathy. He set an appointment for 10 and said it would take about an hour to get the transmission fluid changed. I got there on time and they delivered. My vehicle is ready by 11:00 and they answered all of my questions with knowledge. I highly recommend this location and will return again what I need their service. Keep up the great work.

I called to find out about availability of service for my vehicle. The technician that answered - Andrew, was phenomenally helpful. Rather than acting like I was doing them a favor for calling, Andrew let me know they wanted my business. Due to his knowledge base - and not wanting to just take my money, he was completely honest with the problem the vehicle was having. He could have said nothing resulting in my spending a HUGE amount of money. Instead, he educated me on what the problem was - a Ford issue and let me know what would be involved to fix the problem. The customer service Andrew gave was so refreshing that it made me want to write this review - something I don't normally do. Even though I couldn't use them this time, I can GUARNTEE I will be using them if I ever have any type of car problem! Andrew's knowledge, attitude and service was something that hasn't been experienced in this City for an extremely long time!

Budget Transmissions has come to my rescue twice, once 27 years ago when I moved here from Virginia and again last week. I was carjacked and my car was totaled. When my parents died they left a vehicle that had not been touched in 8 years. A friend and I did maintenance and got it running, but started having issues that I thought were transmission related. I called Budget, let them know the situation and they told me to bring it in. Turns out it was not a transmission issue it was a matter of the vehicle needing top to bottom maintenance after not being driven in 8 years. GREAT SERVICE AND PRICE My car is a manual transmission and required a new clutch. The replacement was done well and quickly but there was some trouble with air in the transmission line which delayed delivery of my car for a little. Communication was good through the time my car was in the shop and the slight and very understandable delay was compensated in the expense. Overall, a great place for transmission repair. After being quoted almost 3x the amount through the Subaru dealership for the same work, I called these guys and they were the best price in town. Adam was extremely knowledgeable and even put some of my transmission fluid aside for me to inspect it closer. It was the transmission mount I just thought they could have found that out but. But there customer service it too notch great people make you feel at home and good transmission. 03 Acura TL- transmission conked out- normal for Honda transmissions during that era. talked to 3 transmission people and the guy who rowed my car, all suggested Budget Transmission. The transmission was switched with a warranty and...dang, it runs so smooth. No play or grinding noise. I will never take my stuff anywhere but here. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Everyone was helpful. I think the price was very fair, as a matter of fact they did my transmission rebuild with a year warranty for about $200 less than what I could find a used transmission with over 120,000 miles on it. They completed the work in under a week even!!! They have my business for good now! Great business model that you do not see much of anymore. I can't be more thankful for the staff services here, i am truly upset with my self! that i didn't go to them in the first place! My transmission was done by an inexperienced guy off the street, he did not do the job right! then we had took it into pepboys on montano, They replaced the transmission pan, bolts and what not, when i got my car back it was slipping worse, redlining and just driving horrible! Budget had told my i was 4.5 quarts short of transmission fluid! Like what the heck?!! an obvious task when doing anything to a transmission is make sure the fluid is filled up to where it needs to be. I was traveling thru Albuquerque from Kansas City on my way to Sedona for vacation. About 40miles west of Albuquerque my transmission completely went out on me—in the middle of the desert. I couldn’t find anybody in town to help me. I have my entire family including my 82 year old mother in law with me. We were in a real pinch. I came across Budget Transmission Masters on Google and after reading the reviews I thought for sure this would be the guy to help me. And boy was I right. Bob was very helpful from the start, very kind and understood my situation and the predicament my family and I were in. Even though Bob had a full garage and plenty of work, he dropped everything to help a desperate traveler. Within a few days, Bob has pulled several strings and had a transmission delivered to his shop for my truck. The very next day after receiving transmission, Bob’s team had it installed—had my truck running and better than ever. I cannot recommend Bob enough, I’m just sorry that I live so far away from Bob’s shop that frankly, I never want to take my truck to another mechanic again.

EDIT: So they got back to me moments after posting, and they were able to fix it and wasn't broke fortunately. Changed my rating- They did fine for what I brought the truck in for. I have a mystery noise that I've been trying to track down and having various parts of the truck looked over. They did their best to find it and I'm fine that they couldn't solve it. I was reassured there was nothing wrong with the transmission or anything connected to it. My problem was after I left. They had taken off the stereo face and tossed it under my seat in the dust. Now I can't get it to reconnect to the stereo. There is no way I can prove they broke my stereo. We rarely used that feature so it may have stuck, since there are scratches on the side of the face like it was pried off. I'm just really ticked about it. If you find that with your vehicle, make sure they have reattached and show it's still working before you drive off.

I don't have any other place to compare Budget Transmission Masters too but they came highly recommended from a reputable repair shop and I boy am I glad I didn't look any further. Being a woman calling places like this can be bait for some places but never did Bob, Dennis or Cathy every make me feel I was being taken advantage of. Estimates I was given were on point & I received honest progress on the repair of my car. Budget Transmission was willing to tackle the clutch & transmission work on my 2004 MINI Cooper without hesitation, even after experiencing some issues with parts. Thank you guys for your work!!!

I can't give enough praise and overall satisfaction for Budget Transmission Masters. I took my vehicle into a local shop in Los Lunas and was advised that my transmission was shot and needed to be rebuild or replaced. I immediately thought I was in a heap of trouble because I simply didn't have the funds to cover such an expense and anything over a certain amount of repairs would cost more than the vehicle was worth. I began looking on websites for local transmission shops in Los Lunas, but as I was searching, Budget Transmission Masters kept showing up as one of the highest rated shops in the metro ABQ area. Since they were the first shops to be open, I called them first. I initially spoke to Dennis who gave me a quote that was still out of my price range and more than the car was worth but he said let me see what I can do for you. About 10 minutes later, he came back another quote, that was closer to what I could pay, but still a little high. He finally said let me talk to the owner and see what we could come up with. A couple hours later, Dennis called back, and gave me a quote that was just right in the range I wanted to pay because had I just ended up buying another used car would have paid that amount anyway. I asked Dennis what was the soonest I could get the car in and completed since it was my only method of transportation and he said if I could get in today it would be completed in about 4 days. On the fourth day, I called Budget Transmission Masters and was advised my vehicle was ready for pickup. After speaking to Bob, the owner, and the gentleman (I forgot his name but he was super friendly and knowledgeable) who processed payment and advised me of warranty requirements, we all spoke for another 20 minutes they were that concerned about caring for their clients. The vehicle itself ran superb. No slippage, grinding, flashing O/D light, or the infamous "Service Engine Soon" light. I have found my auto repair shop and would advise anyone who reads this review who lives in the Metro ABQ area or beyond HIGHLY CONSIDER looking into Budget Transmission Masters for their auto repair needs! So I called around all over albuquerque and found that they had the best price and service available for transmission maintenance. They told me it would take about an hour to do the service, it did end up taking two and a half hours but they showed me what they were doing and kept me informed the whole time. When I left I decided to check the transmission fluid to make sure there was enough, unfortunately the dipstick was bone dry. I called them and took it over to them to fix the issue, they are extremely apologetic and rectified their mistake. That to me is an important part of being a business owner; I do not mind if mistakes are made as long as the owner and operators are honest and willing to make it right. I was having some issues with my clutch and talked to Darren on a Saturday morning. He told me to bring it in Monday morning and kept in touch with me about what the technician was finding. They thought it might have been the clutch hydraulics and priced that out but when they went to work on it, they realized the hydraulics were fine but the clutch itself was the problem. I was kept in the loop throughout the entire process and never once felt like I was being lied to or cheated. Darren wasn't going to move forward with fixing anything until he had talked to me about it and made sure I was on board. The turn-around time was awesome, and I was driving my car home Tuesday afternoon. These guys have got incredible integrity, work quality and are very honest. Ending up at Budget Transmission Masters while we were driving from Phoenix to Colorado Springs was a blessing. Half way on our trip I started leaking transmission fluid. I spent the whole morning looking for a place who can check it out. Most were too busy to make an emergency inspection until I found BTM. BTM agreed to squeeze us in and take a look. In no time they had our van on the lift checking what was causing the leak. Sorted out the problem and had us back on the road feeling a lot better. The problem was not a major issue which BTM easily resolved. The big deal with BTM was that they understood my emergency, was truly concerned with the safety of my family and to top it all off, was sincere enough that they didn’t charge me anything. The professionals at BTM are also kind samaritans. Thank you.

My gears seemed to slipping so I called Budget Transmission. I spoke with the owner and he was very generous with knowledge and patience. I took it in for a diagnostic test ($69), they informed me there was a leak(s), topped off the trans fluid (2qts low) and recommended a new transmission. When I checked the invoice it only said "needs transmission" and a generalized stamp. I called back, the owner spoke with the tech for details (leaking) - i.m not challenging what he saw (but I didn.t see it). They do have polite/welcoming staff, a nice waiting area with a view of the garage bay (or the mountains) with tv/refreshments. My car feels better topped-off (thank you)..but atleast I know what.s to come. I only wish there were more details on invoice for future reference. I am thankful for their knowledge and 26 years of experience. On the up side, if the transmission is done there they will credit the diag fee. Overall a good experience... Updated 10/26/19 - my car ran good for a week but the transmission died while on the freeway. Budget Transmission Masters knew what they were talking about!

Car went into limp mode and was recommended by the folks at Firestone because of the type of car it is. They ran the computer gave me the codes and saved me 400-500 bucks because they said they didn't do tge type of pair required. They even reccomended someone who could. I was able to take care of the issue, they could have taken me for a ride and didn't. If I ever do have a transmission problem I'm taking it here!

My truck broke down over an hour outside of Albuquerque and left me stranded on the side of the highway with a very stressful situation, as I was on a tight timeline headed to Tempe for a very important event. My initial phone calls with Dennis were very helpful and he knew it was an extremely stressful, time dependent situation that took a lot of coordinating to get my vehicle to all the way to the shop. Even though it was a bit past closing they were still there and made sure to wait until the tow truck could get it in the secure lot and Dennis even came back again later to check on me and make sure I didn't need anything else for the evening. I had to move on towards my destination, so they did all the footwork to address the parts that had failed, even making all the calls to track down the information that the part was still under warranty and would be fully covered elsewhere. Then, they helped arrange to get the truck from their shop to the one that could fix it under the covered warranty. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure it was well taken care of and on schedule for when I needed to pick it up on my way back through to my destination home. They could have just fixed it and charged me for the repair, but instead did the honest and ethical thing and that isn't always easy to find these days. Dennis was extremely pleasant to work with and simply wanted me to "go on and have a nice trip". I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs help with their vehicle, for sure.

Best automotive shop I have dealt with in Albuquerque. I have been using them for years and never had a bad experience. They stand by their warrantee which generally last for years. They rebuilt and replaced a Ford transmision about 14 years ago. This transmission is still running well. I had a clutch repair on a pickup about 12 years ago. The throw out bearing went out about a year later. They replaced the throw out bearing with no charge. I plan to continue using this business for all my auto repairs.
