Greystar Ordered To Pay $860M After Fatal Crane Collapse National Construction & Dev April 27, 2023 Dees Stribling, Bisnow National A Dallas County jury has awarded more than $860M in damages to the family of Kiersten Smith, a woman who was killed in 2019 by a crane collapse at a development by Greystar in the Old East Dallas neighborhood. The jury found that Greystar, which is also the largest U.S. apartment manger, bore some responsibility for the incident. During a thunderstorm in June of that year, a tower crane at a new Greystar apartment development collapsed into the neighboring Elan City Lights apartment complex. The crane crashed through Smith's apartment, killing her. Five other people were injured in the incident. Smith's parents were the plaintiffs in the suit. The Houston Attorney Jason Itkin for the plaintiffs argued that Greystar, among other things, had allowed the crane's inspection to lapse, and that it had installed a sign on top of the crane in violation of OSHA standards, KDFW reports. The jury agreed. Also, the plaintiffs' Attorney Itkin argued that Greystar was responsible for the overworked operator of the crane not leaving it in “weathervane mode,” which would have allowed it to move with the wind, rather than being blown over during the storm. Greystar's attorneys argued that the incident was the responsibility of the crane company, Bigge Crane and Rigging, which is one of the largest businesses of its kind, and which had rented its crane to Greystar for the project. The jury did not find Bigge responsible for the collapse, however. Congratulations Attorney Jason Itkin!!

I haven't received a settlement yet. And it has been quite some time, however, litigation, particularly in this country can be lengthy. I writing this for all who are complaining that after a year or two they have received no settlement. I know it is hard for you, I myself have gone through a long and arduous chemo therapy to try to curb my leukemia, and it indeed surpasses the cost that any insurance company is willing to pay. But I know that a legal system is often slow, and not like an episode of Perry Mason where a case is wrap up in 30 minutes. More often than not, it does take years. For those of you, who are complaining that this is the fourth or fifth year that they have had your case if yours is like mine, your lawyers are fighting a Behemoth company (mine is Monsanto) with a fleet of lawyers who are looking for every loophole not to pay you. This is time consuming and your lawyers won't have the time to contact you because they are busy working on your case. Every time I have called someone has been able to update me in a reasonable manner with information that let's me know that are moving forward. If you are as I am most likely you are quite ill and your time is limited and I know that money is important especially when you are ill. But your lawyers are not gods, and in a imperfect legal system there is only so much that they control. And even with poor reviews which I have seen here, they have taken the time to respond to those. Try to remember that they are fighting giants for your cause and you should be on their side.

Im dealing with a huge lawsuit against Janssen Pharmaceuticals etc. and I’ve been with Arnold and Itkin for over a decade we’re finally getting towards the end of things. I don’t know much about what’s going on for legal reasons but i have faith in them. I have about $9 Million in lost wages. these are all things that count at this point. i was told to wait until december. I have a magic number that i think is fair but i think Janssen Pharmaceuticals etc. is going to do better than my magic number but the kind of faith i have in Arnold and Itkin i believe the magic number Arnold and Itkin have is substantially higher than both My magic number and Janssens magic number which is telling me they have our best interest at heart at Arnold and itkin. Thank you Arnold and Itkin for going above and beyond. If I think my lawsuit is worth $1 Trillion Arnold and Itkin not only acknowledges what i feel im worth Arnold and Itkin acknowledges that they feel i’m worth more than any dollar amount. they truly value human life and they put human lives before money. So my mother contacted Anard & Itkins back in 2011 and got me started on this 12 year journey for a drug I took when I was 11 years old called resparidal. Throughout the years I have suffered mentally over the fact that my chest is like a woman's. Even to this day I still wear baggy clothes and hoodies trying to hide these breasts I have developed over this drug. Wanted to write here today stating my gratitude for all the help in pursuing damages done to me physically and mentally. I also, talked with a settlement team member today and she did freak me out saying other lawfirms were settling cases like mine for $1500 to $5000! She did mention Arnard and iktins were able too get more for their clients but how much more she would not tell me. I have a number in my mind that I believe my case is worth and just hope that's the number I get if not more. The surgery to have these breasts removed can cost upwards of $40,000 or as low as $10,000 from clinics I have talked too about these procedures. Not including the mental distress that this has caused me over the years. I have a surgeon that I have researched and he specializes in this type of problem. I'm just hoping that the amount I'm offered is fair and not a slap in the face like what I heard on the phone today about someone being offered $1500!

I first want to take the time to thank everyone involved for dedicating the time they did on my case. They are a good lawfirm, a little lack of communication but over all good! I was in a car collision with penske moving company. I had a brain bleed, cervical fusion surgery and over all, this accident took 3YEARS of my life. And i was awarded half 1 years salary. Mainly becuase of all the loans I needed to survive over the years. Lets face it theres no way your family and friends can take care of you for 3 years. So you have no other choice but to take out loans. A&I did advise me of what it meant to take out loans and to try fam& friends 1st!! But My case was a very difficult case, that's why I hired lawyers. I would say my cervical fusion advisement came fast and last minute so make sure to try everything else 1st and get 2nd even 3rd opinions! Also there was alot of new info that was against me. That was all thrown at me at the very last minute of the case. After expressing that I wasn't completely satisfied with the $ amount I was awarded, I was told "im not going to say ungrateful but to be thankful I got a surgery paid for". Which in my eyes would not be a financial issue in the 1st place if not for penske so that should be a non factor. I just feel it was a huge head ache overall, just to be set for 1 month and back into financial worries. So always apply yourself to know everything! Bug bug bug!!!. Over all my experience with this accident was stressful. The loan companies and law firms won at the end of the day! It has been less than a yr since settlement and I'm back to living check to check with the same pain that prevents me from being able to work doubles for more income.

Our family suffered bodily injuries that required numerous therapy visits, surgeries, and doctor appointments. Coming from someone that owns a nationwide company in which our sole business is to assist personal injury claimants with their financial/settlement planning needs after an injured claimant resolves their case, I feel that I am pretty well-qualified to write a review about the lawyers & staff at Arnold & Itkin. I am always amazed at the ability of this law firm to maximize value for their clients on cases of all sizes and take care of most of their clients for the rest of their lives from a financial perspective. Unfortunately, some lawyers around the country take the easy money offered either pre-suit or early on in a mediation and don't push the defendant and their insurance companies to the limit. In fact, there are law firms in this country that take cases without the intention of ever going to trial. I can assure you that is not the case with this law firm as I have sat in courtrooms across the country and witnessed the HUGE jury verdicts on their cases firsthand. However, this doesn't happen too often because most defendant's and insurance companies are well aware of their track record in the courtroom and avoid going to trial against them at all costs. As a result, the clients of this firm benefit in a big way when the case settles for well more than anticipated. It's always a good idea to explore your options, but I don't think you will find a better firm to represent you if you have been injured due to the negligence of others.

I was injured by an 18 wheel heavy haul truck. According to people around me after the accident the insurance company was trying to take advantage of my head injury and not sure exactly what else they were attempting to do. However I was helped to locate a law firm to handle the situation quickly and get medical help I was denied at the time. Looking back over the course of this life changing event the right choice was made for several reasons. 1. Received top medical care and a good path way to recovery. 2. When it was discovered the trucking company was under insured for the damages, great care was taken to ensure cost didn't run up out of control. 3. When it was discovered the trucking company didn't have assets that could even cover all the cost associated with the injuries and life changing events great care was taken to get the most value possible from a very bad situation. Prior to this injury I had never considered just how devastating a situation like this could be to an individual, guess I thought insurance takes care of everything and all is well, that is so far from a true reality. Our state laws and insurance governing bodies actually have left loop holes and allow for companies to operate in at high risk to damages to families and individuals without any compensation that will cover the total cost of these events. That is why it’s very important to have a law firm like this one to evaluate the realistic situation and not all are the same, to make a right choice for you the injured victim and the family affected. They truly settled my case without wasting money, they could not change the delays and tactics used by the insurance company through there hire lawyers, but they were able to insure my health didn't get worse best possible given the under insured situation as it continue to develop through the diligent search for truth and answers. No one wants to be hurt, injured and has their whole way of life altered forever, but sometimes that happens, when it does you need someone who will truly act on your best interest given all the facts as they really are. I am sure till laws change I will not be the last person who suddenly finds themselves injured by a company under insured to handle the damages they caused, this is why myself being a survivor one of these events would recommend Arnold and Itkin lawyers to handle a case like this and definitely others. At the conclusion of my particular case the major medical cost, almost all my lost income before the case settle and lost assets were recovered with the underinsured company. The max policy was settled and they didn't take advantage of me, as perhaps some other firm might would have, by going trial to get the correct amount awarded just to never collect it and lose for no better outcome part of what was recovered in real asset value to me and family. Doctor Victoria Do was one of the best things the law firm did for me during the medical crisis, my family was given may second and third options to make sure I received the best medical care possible. They were straight forward, honest and to the point from the very beginning, as the case developed and facts discovered on coverage the truth was not hid from me, but shared for my best interest and decision making as it should be.
