After a recent surgery to remove a malignant sarcoma on my Lab, I was worried and wanted to be sure I was doing everything I could do with Zoë’s nutrition to give her the best chance possible for many more years with us. I booked a nutrition appointment via email. The online system is hit or miss, but the emails are always answered rapidly. The front desk ladies and vet techs were all so compassionate and caring while being organized and professional. The MD took her time with us. She answered all my questions and explained things I hadn’t even thought of yet. She seemed to really care for my girl and that’s what I appreciated the most. I left with a calm mind, my questions answered, confident we were doing our best for Zoë. I would definitely recommend the Community Clinic to anyone who asks. 🐶

This was our first visit to the Community Clinic. Our fur baby went for a microchip and spay. The drop off and pick up process was convenient, but I wish it was a little less time consuming. I was pleased with the overall experience there. The cost was a lot less than our regular vet's office, which was very much appreciated. The staff was friendly and they took really great care of our fur baby. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great team to care for their pets.

I was very impressed with the spacious layout of the animal rooms. The staff was accommodating and pleasant, making the adoption of 2 kittens a stress-free process. The on-site clinic is very affordable. I'll definitely bring my dog there for services.

This clinic is excellent and very affordable for the level of care. Highly recommended. The only downside is that you need to be aware of that service to the clinic is not at the front gate or rather around the back of the building which they don’t always tell you so that’s my only downside but otherwise the clinic is excellent and everyone who works there is very nice and cares of course

I took Oreo there to receive his first vaccinations. The techs were awesome and the doctor was great. Everyone was friendly, timely, and professional. And truly cost effective! Oreo will be returning for his boosters and to be neutered.

I took my baby Duce to get his shots and his leg was hurting too and they didn’t treat that and they tried calling to get him seen by another vet that can help me out with his leg! I would recommend anyone to to take their baby and the price is awesome thank y’all again for taking care of him

I finally broke after 10yrs of loosing my beloved Thomas (dog German shepherd husky mix) and found another love Tao (my husky) the volunteers and workers there were so nice and helpful and made my experience such a wonderful one! I'd suggest anyone who is looking for their new addition to their family to check them out! The facility was nice and clean considering all the animals that were there. I love them and they also call you and check to make sure you and you're new pet is ok! My baby is huge for 1yrs old but he is home trained!

I brought my best friend, Pepper, to be laid to rest after living a long and happy 16 years (human years). The staff was very friendly and professional. They allowed me to hold him during the final injection when he took his last breath. I couldn't have asked for a more humane and wonderful experience after making this very difficult decision.

So, I adopted a cat here thinking she was 1.5 years old and going to warm up to my 1 year old cat because her age was on their vet report. WELL, she is around 7 years old! Don't worry, she acclimated to our family just fine! Thanks to Jackson Galaxy's advice in literature (the man knows cats) and Feliway diffusers that put out nice hormone smells! Our little cat blossomed into the snuggle buddy she is. She just loves constantly. If I haven't saved her, she would have started year 2 at the shelter. Now I know she is on the back of my couch looking out upon her doggy sister and cat brother at home. UPDATE on EMMA: Emma had a successful Christmas and New Year. I attached her Christmas photo

This is a wonderful vet clinic. It’s not a full service vet- but just really great for a yearly checkup, vaccinations, etc. I love the veterinarian and all of the techs are wonderful. They will take the time to answer questions and address any concerns to help you determine if it’s something to look into further. Just a fantastic resource

My wife and I are involved in dog rescue and occasionally have to pick up dogs for transport to other rescues out of state so there are time schedules to meet. They always have the dog ready, fully vetted with paperwork. They have their act together which makes our job easier.

Great services and essential for stray cat services and inexpensive spay/neuter for dogs and cats. But difficult to communicate and work with on more than the simplest requests. A soectacular place to adopt a critter! The Adoption Dept. Is wonderful! The clinic does very simple medical analysis. IT IS NOT A PLACE IF YOU HAVE A PET HEALTH CRISIS! CHECK FOR VETS: RECOMMEND ALGIERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL (if on the wb and need immediate help) OR ANIMAL CLINIC - MAGAZINE ST. (they have other locations and have Very Reasonable prices, esp for exotics! We recommend Dr. Amy for compassionate care of exotic animals!) The SPCA is a place to get a yearly checkup, shots, and flea meds (and TNR services for stray cats!)...but not much more advanced medical care than that.

They truly are the most amazing people on this earth! The employees are so kind. I was having a really bad day and worried about my boo bear, Nola pup. Not only did they take care of her, but they also took care of me. It was clear I was upset and everyone was so nice and understanding. I even got a much needed hug. PLEASE do what you can to donate, even $1.00 is helpful. If you can't do that, then donate your time. Loving on any animal can be a life changing experience for you and the animals.

Had my 2 dogs fixed here a few days ago with the low cost clinic. Very highly recommended. Everyone I encountered at the drop off and pick up was very nice and professional. My puppy is terrified of new people and she wouldn't stop barking at them and would not move so the lady was nice enough to pick her up and bring her inside. She is a 36 pound puppy so it was nice to see her pick her up instead of pulling her by the lead to force her inside. My dogs incisions are very small and well closed. You can hardly tell the were fixed. Great place to go exp if money is tight.

My dog Dashka was adopted at Louisiana SPCA and has been going there since the adoption (2019). She has only one eye. She had so many hurdles. Tumor removal, eye operation, teeth cleaning, and so on. I am happy to report that she is now happy and healthy thanks to a great vet care she receives at SPCA. She is 7.5 year German shepherd and finally in good hands (both mine and her vet at SPCA). She is thriving.

We have 6 furbabies( every one,a rescue!)and ran out of food sooner than usual this month. As my husband and I are both disabled,we are on a fixed income every month,and don't get paid until early next month,so we made an appointment with their food pantry & not only did they help with food for our dog & cats,but litter as well! Dr smith was great with my dog Nola, and helped me with a solution to her recent sprinkle problem she’d been having since her uti. We love coming here for my dogs annuals and her medicine! Such a pleasant experience! After going to two other local vets and spending hundreds of dollars, the SPCA clinic finally treated all three of our kittens appropriately. The techs were also extremely helpful with our dirty kitties as they had gotten nervous on the car ride there. Will be back in 2 weeks for check-ups and vaccines, and again for spaying/neutering once they are able to gain enough weight.

My dog's visit to LSPCA was one of the best experiences ever with a clinic. Even though I was not allowed in the building, my baby was well taken care of and the staff was very caring. I vet my dogs with the SPCA. They are amazing, personable, clean and most of all compassionate. A few weeks ago I had to deal with euthanasia with them. Once again above and beyond. Not only did they make this horrible situation an as comfortable as possible experience, so did Heaven's Gate who they partner with for cremation. Nothing about this experience was "pleasurable", but they made it as painless as they were able too, and I needed to somehow show my appreciation!

Adopted Todd the cat in January 2021. He was my early birthday present from my sister, Jessica since she has a kitten named Lil Dorian Grey. Todd is an absolute joy and the purrrfect addition to our family! The staff is loving, caring and amazing to all of the animals there! I was very impressed by how dedicated they were to the animals! Now while we did move out of the city, Todd is growing to love country life! I would adopt again from the New Orleans chapter of the ASPCA!

Awesome community resource. I've been taking my cat here for veterinary care and am very pleased with the quality of care, the cleanliness of the clinic, and the prices. (Only negative I'd give about the clinic is the fact that it's sometimes difficult to reach the staff, but that's not unexpected, since they are not a private office and handle large volumes of pets.)

Had a great appointment at the Louisiana SPCA. I brought in my cat Jack for his annual vaccinations. I had adopted him last year at the Louisiana SPCA. I saw Dr. Smith and she was amazing, very patient with Jack who was being difficult and also very informative with suggestions to help with his behavior. The wait was not long and all the staff were very pleasant. I really like having this facility available and they are also priced more reasonably than the private veterinarians. They were very professional and caring of the needs of my dog and my wife who was nervous of her big baby being taken from her for his shots and his ear infection ! On October 13, 2018 I had to make the most difficult decision to say goodbye to my sweet Sadiemae. She has been my constant companion for almost 14 years. My family made an appointment for me at the SPCA West Bank. Everyone there was absolutely wonderful, kind & compassionate. They even came out to the car to help my sister and I carry her in. She was an 85 lb Lab. We had a completely private peaceful clean room that we went straight into. I was not rushed could take all the time I needed to say goodbye. What was a completely upsetting day was made much easier by these wonderful people. Then yesterday went I got home from work I had the sweetest card with a yellow Lab on it signed by all the doctors and nurses and team. And on top of everything there was a separate card that had her paw print on it. What a wonderful keepsake. So thoughtful and caring. I would recommend this place to anyone for any of your pet's needs. That are 10 stars! Thank you all for everything

The staff at Louisiana SPCA are helpful, kind and generous. I've been to the clinic twice during COVID and they have their low-contact system very well organized. The person who fetched the critters from my car on both occasions went above and beyond and deserves 10 stars. I was super stressed, worried about how I would pay the bill, and they treated me with dignity and respect every step of the way. At the end of my second visit they did not charge me for the the quick follow up visit and antibiotics shot. The only downsides are beyond their control: not being able to be in the room with the vet to ask questions, and the difficulty in reaching the clinic by phone on the first try. They are very good at returning calls and emails, so it's a little frustrating to get through. Once you do, it's smooth sailing.

Great experience both times I took my dog, Remmie, to the Louisiana SPCA Clinic. The staff is the best. They are professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, efficient, organized, courteous, and cheerful. They were on schedule. The clinic itself is clean and attractive. The cost of an annual dog visit and heart worm preventative was considerably less than the amount private vets charge.

Adopted my dog back in 2012, and she's well mannered, mostly. Overall, the price for a dog at $75 (at the time) with dog food and all her shots is vastly better than paying a couple hundred of dollars (or more) for a dog plus paying for her immunizations. Definitely adopting from the SPCA is the best deal. Plus her annual follow ups are discounted. *Now as of 2019, you can set up your appointments via online. That's a huge plus because the phone system was never a sure-fire way to book an appointment. Online is simple and fast, and they respond within 24-48 hours typically.

We used to take our dog to private vets but as of almost a year ago we decided to try the LA SPCA and have been very happy with the evaluations and recommended treatments. Most importantly , we have come to the conclusion that the care provided by the SPCA is directed at making sure the pet receives the best possible care as opposed to simply ordering unnecessary tests and running up a huge - costly bill ...!!! Without doubt we know our dog is receiving the best care for her and not a shot - gun approach, the care is tailored for your pet . The Vet at SPCA actually asked us questions about our dog and designed her treatment plan --So far, out of ALL the vets in the past only the SPCA VET actually listened to my dogs heart and lungs !!!!!! A REAL PHYSICAL EXAM !!!! Thank you, LA SPCA. WE will be back.

We love the SPCA ! they provide low cost vet services. My favorite is ADOPTION ! I really like the program that allows you to take a pup home for a day or 2 so a family can see if her or she is a good fit.. I was fortunate enough to adopt my Freddy, a dachshund, here 2 years ago. He gets his annual checkups and the vets & techs are wonderful. Just had his teeth and ears cleaned and the staff could not be more helpful. Always get a written report plus the vet consult. Fabulous clinic!

We take our 3 cats for a check up to the SPCA clinic every year. The vets that they have had are truly caring and very nice. They give us good advise on the care of the cats. It is my understanding that when they open their new building, teeth cleaning and grooming services will be available. The only difficulty that I have is that every time we come dogs are there at the same time, barking and, well, being dogs. It would be very helpful if they could have a "cat day" where they schedule only cats. We don't own dogs because I have back problems and don't want dogs jumping up on me. They are wonderful creatures of God but not for us. We are very thankful for low cost appointments and flea treatments / medications for our pets. We could not afford to pay full price at a vet.

My dog Holly had an appointment for her annual check up. Two days prior to her appointment she cracked one of her dewclaws. The veterinarian took her in right away sedated her a little and fixed the declaw right then. I was very pleased with the outcome. I have been taking Holly to the SPCA now for 2 1/2 years and they are wonderful.

I have bringing my pack here for the last four years. I have 5 dogs and 2 cats. If not for the LASPCA clinic there is no way I could afford quality care for them. The prices can't be beat in the New Orleans area. My pets get their annual check ups and preventative meds (flea, tick heartworms) from here. Four of my dogs have also had dental cleanings. Two have had masses removed. They do not handle urgent care but have seen my animals for rechecks on specific conditions. The veterinarians and vet techs have always treated me with respect and gave my animals excellent care. There have been times that I had to wait longer than I would have liked but they have always explained why (emergency, doctor stuck in surgery, etc.) Most times I have been seen in a reasonable amount of time. The ladies in reception are very sweet. They remember me and my pets and are always pleasant. Overall, I would highly recommend the place.

Excellent facility, very modern design, white glove clean and the people that work there are true animal lovers and their passion shows through out. They treated my feline as if he was their own. They explained everything before the procedure and when I picked my pet up they went through everything that I need to do for after surgery care. Walked over to the adoption center and it was clean as well. All the animals looked well kept, their living areas are very comfy with ample room to play. The adoption center shop has everything that a new pet parent would need for their new pet. I will be taking my pet there for any future needs and highly recommend this facility.

The community clinic is the best place for quality care at an affordable price! Even though I live on the east bank, it's still worth the trip once a year! I've taken my cat Liger there since I rescued her from my neighborhood, made sure she had her shots and that she was in good health before bringing her into my house. She's now 5 years old and still healthy as can be! And they also do prescriptions, which is awesome, so I can order her flea medicine through 1-800 Pet Meds and they can approve it for you. Always will highly recommend for first time furry patients and as an affordable place for yearly check ups!

I adopted an SPCA kitten from Petco. They told me her 1st visit for shots would be $25 if I went to the clinic at the SPCA. I admit I was afraid it would be depressing and dark . Very wonderful! So helpful for a new pet owner, very knowledgeable. The place was SO CLEAN! My honey has allergies to cats and some dogs, but had no problem the entire time we were there. Every animal we saw for adoption was content and adorable, and the entire staff was very supportavive and answered any questions we had. (They also loved our cute kitten, Edgar Allen Purr, so we may be a little biased) Our wellness appointment took under an hour from start to finish, and everyone who came to see him was very sweet with him, even when he got his shots. It was hard to get an appointment over the phone, but it was definately worth the game of phone tag. The grounds and very beautiful, and everyone there seems to really enjoy what they do. We will definately be returning. Though Edgar was a rescue and we didnt get him here, I would advise anyone who wants to adopt to come here, and every animal there was well cared for.

This is the place you want to go to if looking into adopting a dog. Their adoption process is simple, with a questionnaire and simple interview. I loved the fact that they put a quick summary of every potential family member in front of the room they hold each pet. The staff seem knowledgable about the animals they are caring for. They were able to answer questions without having to look up a file. Also everyone seemed happy and wanting to help. They have a nice shop in the same area for the adoption. So you can grab some essentials like leash and collars. When you do adopt a pet, they give you a very nice gift set full of dog toys and treats.

Also when my senior kity was declining in health, one of the doctors personally emailed me to update on tests. The staff and volunteers take such good care of the animals ready for adoption. I adopted my dog from the Louisiana SPCA. It is by far the best maintained shelter. The people were nice and the process wasn't too long. You can tell they care. Terry is heartworm positive and his treatment was free which is amazing. I thought the Community Clinic staff were helpful. It took a little bit of time to check out because they were busy, but they are building a new clinic and told me they will greatly increase their capacity, so that shouldn't be a problem in the future. I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt or someone who wants to save a lot of money.

My husband and I adopted A two-year-old corgi terrier mix one year ago and it was the best experience of my life. I’ve never had a dog before and neither had my husband and we were both very nervous about adopting for the first time. We were so pleasantly surprised to see how clean, bright and cheerful the SPCA in the West Bank was and we felt very confident in the staff. One of the staff in particular her name was Megan helped us in choosing the right Pet for us. She spent a lot of time getting to know our personalities and the type of pet we are looking for. She found us the perfect match in our adopted dog and we couldn’t be happier. We found out during the adoption process that our dog had heart worms but we are reassured by the SPCA staff that he would be treated free of cost. What felt like way longer than six months Was the entire process of getting him treated for heartworm’s. The SPCA was so helpful and supportive during the entire process. We just had a re-tested two days ago at the SPCA and he is heartworm negative. We could not be happier with our little Charlie who is the sweetest, most well trained and was the entire process of getting him treated for heartworm‘s. Having fostered dozens of cats for them and adopting 3, this is one of the best SPCAs around. If you are ever going to adopt an animal do it here. Don't give your money to puppy/kitten farms. If you buy an animal at the mall or a store and it doesn't say they're a rescue, you're very likely supporting the inhumane treatment of these animals without even realizing it.

Only reviewing based on the community clinic. Very affordable but the scheduling will take quite some time. They never answer the phone so you have to wait for a call back which usually takes 3 to 5 days. If you happen to miss that call you have to call back and wait another 3 to 5 days for them to get back to you. Also the appointment dates are all 2 months out at least.

We recently adopted Zoë our new puppy, and the young lady who helped me went above and beyond to help with our Vet verification, when their office was having a hard time locating our kitty (my partner and I have different last names and this is a new Veterinarian) - politely asking them to try under all the different contact info. I feel like her calmly giving that extra attention helped me remain calm through the process that went from fun, to nerve wrecking, and back to fun again. I am so grateful for Zoë (previously Laverne). She is adapting quite well to life with us, and has really come out of her shell. As a foster parent for cats and kittens, I have come to realize that it is the irresponsible pet owners who do not take proper care of their pets, are the cause of animal deaths, not the shelters, who take in the unwanted animals. So, please do not put the blame for animal euthanasia on shelters--put it where it belongs--on uncaring, cruel humans.

Our experience at the New Orleans SPCA was stellar! The place was warm and inviting and very clean. The animals were well cared for and the staff was attentive and helpful. We found our cute little pet dog-exactly what we wanted. She was spayed, shots updated, micro chipped and given heartworm and flea meds. She was in perfect condition. The amount of time it takes for the clinic to get things done is very frustrating. Right now, I am sitting in line as one of the two check out women has been staring at her computer and there are four people just standing in line. The blonde lady behind the counter is an angel, but the other one has a really bad additude. I got here at 11:00, and it is now 11:45. All I needed was to get medicine for my dog. This should not take this long.

The people at the community clinic were all great with the animals the only concern I had was they told us to be there 30 to 45 minutes prior to admission time of 7:30 and we got there at 6:30 and the gates were locked and there was no phone number to call and we had to wait until 7:30 to get in and there were a ton of people with their dogs also waiting outside and I don't know if you know this but when you get a group of dogs together there's lots of barking jumping around and aggressive behavior obviously because the animals are nervous about seeing the vet however once we get in and picking up are animals after the procedure again the staff is very friendly very helpful and it's a great place

#1 It's disturbing to see people reviewing the LA-SPCA that have ZERO direct experience with the organization and are basing their comments on a reality tv show. #2 Working with animals in any capacity is perhaps one of the most difficult jobs around. Our pets and those that roam can't speak to us — they can't express frustration, happiness, angst, pain, health, etc. in the same way humans can. So automatically, we are at a disadvantage when trying to interpret their signals. #3 At the LA-SPCA, animals are in the best hands. For over 100 years, the organization has done everything possible to make sure ALL the animals passing through their doors find their way back home or to a new one while maintaining a safe environment for our community. It's not intended to be a prison for animals, as other organizations guise as humane. I (Rebecca)/my business are proud supporters of the LA-SPCA through donations, as well as adoptions, including my little man Mr. Sprout. So before giving the LA-SPCA or the folks that work there a bad review, think about what they go through every day from start to finish in providing a healthy environment for all involved.
