This place is awesome! From young to old if you like doing craft work at home whether it's making clothes are putting flower arrangements together or simply doing artwork with different objects it's all at the turnip green. Check it out and be wowed. No, I don't work there, only amazed.
Annie Lemly
I love that there is a place this amazing in Nashville. As a crafter it is hard not to try every type of craft. This place allows me to try new crafts without breaking the bank. They have a huge assortment!
JaMaal Dupree
This is probably one of the coolest places in the city. Full of materials diverted from landfills, you can find just about anything here. Whether for arts and crafts or just for home projects, Turnip Green offers plenty to get your hands on. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
Ashley Wiley
This place is so cool. entirely donation based, they have tons of supplies for all sorts of projects. my bf & i visited and got all the supplies to make some embroidery! once you are ready to check out simply go to the counter and tell them how much you want to donate. everyone should visit!
edited to include photos of our projects!

Lots of interesting items ready to be repurposed into arts and crafts. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Amanda Myers
I absolutely love this place!! If you haven't gone, you definitely need to. They have anything and everything that you could ever need to craft with.
Steven MacKendree
This place may not be for everyone, but if you are looking for somewhere to whet your artistic whistle, you should definitely stop by here.
Everything is very nicely organized, and the pay-what-you-believe-it's-worth (or something like that) idea of pricing makes for a very stress free browsing experience, as well as encourages one to maybe pay more when they come back if they are better off at a later date.
The local art is also a wonderful touch, and the pricing is low enough for many to purchase a unique piece to enjoy for years to come.
I have no doubt that I will be returning here many more times, probably with my five year old son in tow, who loved it just as much as I did.
Pam Larson
Fabulous source for donating and purchasing (cheap) recycled items for art projects, teaching, decorating and more. Staffed with helpful and kind folks. LOVE their classes. Here is a photo of postcard art I made at a Turnip Green class.
Z Zaldivar
My family LOVE this place. We always find something for the projects we have going o.
Darya Pilram
What a gem! I recently took a garment sewing class at Belmont and I come here to find fabrics for practicing. So far I’ve made two shirts, a pair of pants, and a dress from upcycled material. Thank you for providing this amazing resource in our neighborhood.
Debbie Butner
If you’re an artist, crafter, maker, parent, teacher, kid, then this place might come close to heaven on earth! I admit I was afraid, afraid that it sounded too good to be true. A place where you could load up a bag, cart, crate, or SUV with craft/art/sewing/hobby supplies then just pay what you want? No, not possible! Someone must be running a scam!
Nope, it’s real! I have to warn you that you will need to take a deep breath before you go inside because you can easily get distracted by all the creative ideas that will pop into your head as you look around. Keep telling yourself that you can come back!
It’s a good idea to have a few projects in mind and stick with selecting items you can use for them; otherwise you may end up with a lot of cool things that may not go together. So what do they have?
Fabric by the bolt, yard, remnant, and tiny pieces. Ceramic tiles in all shapes and colors, wood and vinyl tile samples, carpet squares, upholstery swatches, sample books, and remnants. Wood scraps, frames, holiday decorations, wine corks, sewing notions, vintage patterns, mat boards, greeting cards, old photographs, calendars, craft foam and kids crafting supplies, stickers, mailing envelopes, binders, poly acrylic yard signs, foam board, paint, chalk, crayons, markers, paper, beads, LP records, upholstery foam, vhs tapes, and other interesting and weird things you can use to make art!
Everything is donated! TGCR’s mission is to REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE, and keep useable items out of the landfill. Shoppers take what they can use and pay what they can or what they feel is a fair price. Inventory changes every day!
The proceeds fund after school programs to teach kids how to RRR and ways to be artistic and creative with unusual items.
This is my new favorite place! Parents can find everything you need for those budget busting school projects! Teachers can get supplies for class projects! You’re going to love ❤️ this place and their mission!
Open Tuesday-Sunday. Closed on Monday.
Parking is on the street, so be sure you can parallel park!
Consider taking a donation when you go shopping. They do take cash and credit.
And everything is organized by what it is and then by color, size, or other attribute. It’s easy to navigate the store.
Samantha Le Vine Schmidt
Wow oh wow!!! Incredible in every way; pay what you can emporium chock full of supplies: arts, crafts, sewing, fiber arts, floral, picture frames, office and teaching supplies, books, makerspace goodies, etc. Keeping creative materials out of landfills and into the hands of anyone who wants to re-use these materials.
Ash Lauren
This place is wonderful! They have a little bit of everything u could ever need for any project. The staff is friendly and ur donation amount is private. It's great to see all of these still useful materials stay out of landfills ♻️🌍♻️ …
Jennifer Brawner
It was my first time here and I am in love!!! The tile, fabric, and paint selection alone is incredible! Everyone is awesome and the music was on point! I love this win/win situation place...I love awesome art supplies and project supplies and I love helping my community, helping people and helping the planet and those are the 3 things I get to do here! I am so glad I came across this gem of a place for sure! Oh and I know where I get to bring things to be reused instead of throwing them away now!!! Yay!!!
Chris Lannan
Looking for something? Odds are that you’ll find it (or something you weren’t looking for) at Turnip Green. Such a great little spot. I both donate and shop here. Love the concept!!
Randall “Randy” Brison
This is a neat place. We were happy to get rid of - I mean donate - old CDs, DVDs, VHSs, and cassettes, among other things. Walking around it is like walking through my garage, only things are much more organized. It's a good place to go if you need some odd part or item from times gone by.
Selina Webb
This is a great place to drop off items that can be turned into art so they do not end up in the landfill. Artists can get items to make art, and teachers can get things for their students to make art with. What a great place!
Stephanie Pereira
There are so many great benefits of this place it is hard to know where to start. Great for artsy people to really push their creative use of items saved from landfill. Also great for those who maybe need s little help in the crafting/creating. Most of the staff/volunteers are very helpful. You never know what you'll find. There is always fabric, wood pieces, and tile. Not only is this am amazing shop, their community outreach is beyond amazing. They bring art to all Metro Nashville schools. They dorm bonds with kids and give them a creative way to express their feelings. All cities and towns would benefit from following their model. They accept donations of many things that would otherwise end up in a landfill. I love the little gallery where the "artist in residence" gets to display their amazing works created from reuse materials.
Olivia Craker
Such a great place to get any sort of art supplies you can think of. Amazing staff and stuff. If you are think of taking up a new hobby definitely come here first
Beth
I absolutely love this place. I am an artist and try to go at least once a month to see all the great finds! My daughter is getting married in May and on our last visit we found a lot of material and other items we can use for decorations. I always plan to go when I have plenty of time to look through everything. If you are a quilter, you have to check this place out! On my last visit, at least a half dozen people came in to drop off items. The only thing I wish they would change are the hours. They are only opened on weekdays from 2-6. They operate off donations, so if you go, please donate fairly.
Tyler Largin
Neat little place for art supplies and random stuff. They have a mini art gallery for artists. They have old vcr tapes and random sample tiles. Lots of just random things most of which is incomplete. But this is definitely a place to go if you wanna get random things for crafting.
Jasmin Rosil
So much fun to poke around in! Lots of hidden treasures here for artists to play with.
Wendy Adams
So many wonderful things to search thru .. staff is soooooo kind and helpful! Love the uniqueness of turnip Green creative reuse
Maggie Brewer
Great place if you like crafting.
James Huff
Such a beautiful place, everything you could ever need for creating & more! It can seem like a whole lot at first glance, but everything has its own place so if you need 10,000 bottle caps, they got chu!
Everything is donation based, except for the artist work & that is priced separately. And all the money goes to art education! Who can argue with that. One of my favorite places ever.
Greg O'Loughlin
Such an amazing resource! First, if you need anything for a project, art, your house - be sure you check Turnip Green first! So many amazing hidden treasures! Second, as a resource to learn about how landfills, recycling, waste all works. Third, as a place for field trips and school project supplies. They love and support teachers and are eager to help. So grateful they are here and that they do what they do!
roller skaters
So..youre a creative artsy person this is youre place..lots of interesting things and crafts along with eclectic random donations that any thrifter will absolutely love..you pay by donation..which is a wierd concept..but actually support artsy people like you that may be a little less fortunate..great vibe and definitely in a interesting part of town..highly recommend.
Tim Kiernan
They are a non-profit creative re-use center, but it feels more like a mixed media Artist's idea of heaven. There are no prices, it's a donate what you wish ($) store. They also have educational programs and offer artist support. An incredible mission and fun atmosphere, take a break and explore their shelves for inspiration.
shellly bleistein
Such a great variety of anything that you need and some things you never knew you needed. Their focus on education, art, recycling and reducing landfill is so important!
Destiny L
This is one of my favorite gems of Nashville! This little place helps our schools and local kids have access to art and become young creative artists that will become creative helping adults! They also help anyone have the art supplies and recycled goods that need to be creative! They do all of this on donations from Nashville! Good job turnip truck!!
Claire G
Turnip Green is doing such amazing work all around! This store is such a fantastic idea - Goodwill meets Michaels! Everyone is upbeat and they take wonderful precautions! Handicap Accessible garage/donation entrance.
BJ Davis
This place has a wonderful direction: art supplies that are free as long as you make a donation. Any amount at all.
They have so many niche supplies that you can walk around and come up with dozens of project ideas right there.
Doris La'Shelle
Shop and you pay by donation..yes just give them the amount of money that you want...but be fair because the things that you get there would cost an arm and leg at other reuse places. They have item from art supply to fabric and everything in between..go and you will find something!
Mindy W
Their current location is much further from me, but I still go because I love this place! Best current info. on Instagram & facebook but do have website. If you only like shiny new supplies, don't enjoy the hunt/digging and have trouble thinking creatively and seeing potential, this might not be your place. They take in donations of new and not-new materials from individuals and businesses for reuse-check with them before donating, there are things they can't take. As a public school art teacher (limited funds) who believes in recycling, I frequent them often. Their "pricing" is "take what you need, pay what you can"...'nough said. Their mission is to reduce landfill waste. They do workshops on composting, offer open studio and art events and have two galleries with changing exhibits. Very limited parking, but can parallel park along R.R. tracks.
Richard Bedal
Awesome concept. Perfect for a starting artist. They charge by how much you want to donate to the place. For instance I got almost 6 gallons of white paint and a picture frame ,yes some of it was used but I donated $10.00 and got about $70.00 worth of supplies. Can't beat it.
Marie Bozzetti-Engstrom
Amazing treasure trove of a place plus the art gallery features the creative talents of inspiring artists such as the Nashville Collage Collective's group show. Great location right next door to the new bar space Never Never.
Amy Carr
Turnip Green is great in every single way. The concept, the staff, the pricing structure: everything. Turnip Green accepts donations of all those crafty odds & ends, and indeed, super long list of things that look like they would be fun or useful or both, just not for you. Instead of just dumping them in the trash, increasing landfill & also needlessly fueling a consumer economy gone mad, you can bring them to Turnip Green where they will get picked up by a teacher, child, artist, etc & turned into something amazing. We take our kids to Turnip Green all the time, where the staff is so helpful & respectful of their creativity. Plus, they get to have the experience of determining the value of something, as the price of everything at Turnip Green is what the purchaser thinks it's worth. It is one of our favorite places & provides an excellent service to the community. Note that Turnip Green will very soon - within days - relocate from Woodland Street in East Nashville to a new location in, I believe, North Nashville. Although the new location will be less convenient to us, we still intend to be frequent customers. Final note: Turnip Green also does a few roaming excursions, eg we recently visited a booth they were hosting at the Adventure Science Center, so if you see them out & about, check it out!
Dena N.
They have various repurposed items that are available for a donation of your choosing($5 suggested donation) that are good for endless art projects, decorating your background for online office meetings, frames that you can use to decorate with or without pictures inside, fabric samples that can lead you to a new fashion breakthrough, just an endless supply of items that lead your imagination on a beautiful creative trip and a visit there will never leave you wanting 😊✨!
Trish Marshall
So glad to have found their new location! They are still moving in, and organizing everything. I have been an avid reuser/recycler for decades, this is my kind of store! Before you buy something from the craft stores check here first! Also donate your unwanted supplies here...it could be someone else's treasure!
Robert Johnson
This great resource takes in donations of interior design, interior decor, artist materials and bric-a-brac and then "sells" it to the public. There are no prices, one just pays what one thinks it is worth. Kids love this place - "It is the best" - and it has enough stock and volume for adults to guarantee there will be something of interest every visit. No bike parking. Hurry, lease ends in March 2019.
Erastos Evdoxiadis
This was a very cool and interesting place to visit. I was there volunteering for the garden but the store was truly unique. The purpose for the store us so cool supplying inner city schools with much needed supplies.
Maegen Hughes
The folks here are always so friendly and helpful. I occasionally bring in my 5 year old and her touching everything seems to bother no one.
Desiree Dyer
Supporting local artists with a mission to keep things out of landfills. If you're an artist, a teacher or love to do crafts with your kids Turnip Green Creative Reuse needs to be your very FIRST stop.
As a Professional Home Organizer I kept over 700lbs out of landfills in 2017 and have donated everything from office supplies to scrapbooking supplies to fabulous art supplies to electronics to holiday decorations and everything in between.
If you have items at home and you're not sure where to donate they can also help point you in the right direction.
phyllis rose
SO grateful for this place. I attended a composting class here. Now I realize it is a place I can bring objects I no longer want (like broken jewelry or odd serving pieces) that people can repurpose. And it doesn't end up in a landfill.
David Ingalls
So you're telling me there's a store that stocks used items and I can pay what I want? Im in. There's an awesome selection of DIY bits and baubles for any project, fabric scraps (and a few bolts) for sewing, cards, and seasonal decorations. I love it!
Kaye Clark
Attended a composting class here and Metro Public Works gave all attendees a free nice compost bin
Meredith Brown
My partner and I get all of our crafting supplies @ TGCR. We sew, knit, paint & create. The staff is friendly & positive. Prior to Covid-19, we volunteered on our days off. We love TGCR!
Nikkii McCondichie
I browsed this tiny but mighty little store after attending a MNPW Composting Workshop. Go there for inspiration, for items to upcycle into your one of a kind creative masterpiece, or to donate pieces that might otherwise end up in landfill.
Junk Trunk Treasures
Always super nice ladies working. My daughter and I learned of Creative Reuse through a crafter friend and have not stopped going in. We are going today. We craft alot and it helps finding craft things that we can use and donate money to help others. A AWESOME place. Thank you to all the ladies at Creative Reuse 💟♥️ …
Corey Foster
This is a truly amazing place for creatives and makers in Nashville. Go to find new materials and tools. Go to donate all the materials and tools you're hoarding because "someone can probably use this for something." Give 'em a bit of cash to keep the lights on while you're there.
eric marshall
I went here for the first time today. They facilitate compost classes for metro.
If you are creative this place will be fun to explore.
Great staff. And keeping items ok it of the landfill.
Alexandria Hadd
Turnip Green is hard to summarize in a very good way. It's part craft supplies, part office supplies, part building supplies, part thrift store, part art gallery. The store has a donation-only model - you pay what you think is fair - and the money raised supports recycling and art education in Nashville. The store is filled with oddities and items for almost any crafter or DIY-er - come in with a project in mind or you'll get lost for hours looking at everything! They also have a rotating art show featuring reuse artists in middle Tennessee. Seriously, this place is a haven for the creative yet sustainably-minded spirit.
Valerie Harrell
Always great finds to upcycle or use as is, as well as traditional art supplies. The best part is that you decide the price! Always staffed with friendly, helpful folks.
O. Mia Darlene
I have been slowly acquiring all the necessary pieces to build robotic arms that will then build a art-icle accelerator in my underground New Zealand lair over the past years worth of cruciferous visits. Once I get the go ahead from the fragrant Alien who inspired the Dollar General cologne line "If you like Sex Panther by Odeon you'll love Elon Musk," I'm hoping to be able to travel by tube to another timeline, or at least another time zone, where maybe my art and effort will finally resonate with an audience, rather than ending up back in the recycling bin.
Molly Hyson
You could spend hours there looking at all the stuff. Very fun for crafting
RasRedbone
I confidentially say: "BEST ART SUPPLY SHOP" in Nashville... Sarah is very helpful, friendly & patient... keep up the good works, coz we starving artists need "TURNIP GREEN" and the recicle concept is crucially crucial in this days in time...!!!
