Rick and his team at Soul Survivor Outdoor do a fantastic job mixing spirituality with fun, challenging outdoor events. SSO serves the active duty community by providing them a way to bond with events that most would not have an opportunity to experience. Rick took my team and me on a rock climbing expedition where we traversed through the Ouray Via Ferrata in The Box Canyon of beautiful Ouray, Colorado. Some of my Marines had on opportunity to face their fears as we climbed up a rock face while also having fun with their peers. SSO is not apologetic in how it ties spirituality into its events, and it is refreshing. Even though I'm not of the Christian faith, I felt entirely welcomed by Rick and his team; they embrace all religions in their events. I could tie my faith to the event, knowing to trust my equipment just as much as I put trust in my G_D. When you are hanging and tethered from a rock face and can release and admire the beauty around you, there is no way you don't feel closer to the all-mighty. A big thank you to Rick and SSO for putting in such a fantastic event. Continue to fight the good fight and supporting the men and women who protect this great nation of ours. Semper Fidelis!

The experience I had with the SSO was amazing! It was my first time horse back riding and they made me feel comfortable and confident while riding. The brief before the ride was funny and informative. Cornhole was available and the food service was phenomenal! SSO is a great organization conducting Christ-centered outdoor adventures for active duty military personnel. The recreation activities offer a chance to eliminate to typical daily stressors of military life and simply have fun in the outdoors. The Christ-centered message offers participants an opportunity to recalibrate and perhaps reconnect with their spirituality. It was an excellent experience and one I highly recommend.

SSO is a awesome Christian organization. They do events for active duty military. In our case they took a group of Marines from Twentynine Palms to Redlands shooting park and we shot skeet and did a little bit of spiritual fitness. I really enjoyed the event.

I had a great experience and got to learn more about the instructors and there intake on rock climbing!! Definitely was worth going up the rock wall, there was a few things I didn’t want to do but the instructors did a great job on making me comfortable and letting me take on the wall and repel others down. I attended a skeet shooting meetup organized for my unit within the Army at DeWitt's Sporting Clays in North Carolina. The staff was welcoming and very nice for allowing us to shoot their whole course and provide Mission BBQ catering for lunch at no cost to us. Jeremy shared his testimony with us during lunch, which I appreciated and found motivating as many sermons in the nondenominational churches I've attended don't typically come from a soldier's perspective. He mentioned the event was possible through donations and I couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome. I'd recommend Soul Survivor Outdoor to anyone who served, or is currently serving in the armed forces and is looking to experience something interesting and beneficial outside of the usual workplace.

Great experience with a fantastic organization! Rick, Steve, and his team put on a great event for the 304th MI BN. Although we were scheduled for sky diving, the winds were too high at altitude to jump. But, SSO was able to secure the wind tunnel for us and we still had a good time! Good fellowship coupled with their appreciation for soldiers made it an event anyone would enjoy. As an added measure, their love for Christ is readily apparent and appreciated. Went with a bunch of coworkers to their outdoor expedition in Joshua Tree. It’s definitely not for those who are out of shape! The repelling, Climbing, and especially the spelunking are pretty demanding, but it’s a lot of fun. If you get the chance, to get out there, definitely make it happen. Also, wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little scraped up.

The SSO hosted a rock climbing event that was a wonderful experience for my Marines to get out of the barracks and dive into the outdoors. The staff were professional, accommodating, and overall fun to be around. They handed out free shirts that my guys wear weekly. Absolutely great organization, we had maybe 30 people in our group and nothing went off course to the plan of the day, we got there, got settled and started practically right away. personally i was thinking through out the day how sweet it was to have the opportunity to get off base and off work for the day and go do something out of your comfort zone, and they taught not just me, but everyone what to do, how to do it, and why we did it. from start to end the function was easily the best day i’ve had in the military so far and it’s only because of the SSO

I’ve been in the military for a little over 4 years and God has blessed me to meet some amazing Christians not many but one of my mentors was actually my boss. Anyways this organization is amazing I’ve been wondering since I’ve been in if there was any kind of place that did stuff like this. Service members who try to reach other service members and show them who Christ is. I love how they use the outdoors to connect with all kinds of different people and then they feed you and present you with amazing testimonies of how God has been present in there lives. There were a couple people in my shop that i have been trying to talk to them about God with for a while and what’s crazy is they all came with me to this. I’m so happy that they got to come and listen to these amazing people and have fun while doing it.

I came here for a woman’s retreat expecting to just hang with the gals from work and ride some horses. I’ve been riding before so I knew what to expect, however, this place was different is the best way possible. Immediately the staff connected with us and engaged us like family we were sharing stories and cracking jokes. It was very comfortable, peaceful, and well kept. I wasn’t expecting a guest speaker but it was a nice end to our day of horseback riding. It’s a wonderful place for veterans, as I myself have struggled with military transition.

My shop and I went to Brazo’s Bluff and they were hosting the event. The environment was very welcoming and inviting right off the bat we were told to just do us. Being in the military there isn’t much time to have fun and they made it really easy to just let our hair down and just relax. The bourse trail was very calming and the instructors were amazing. Very professional, calming, and just all around nice is what I would describe this place.

I had an awesome experience learning the basics of sailing in San Diego. My group worked well together and each of us took turns winding the lines and steering the boat. At one point our jib got all tangled but we were able to fix it together. I attended a Soul Survivor Outdoor retreat. The location was near Mammoth Lakes surrounded by a majestic view of the mountains. A professional pair of guides taught us the basics of fly fishing, took us to some great fishing locations, and assisted us in catching fish. I left the retreat renewed and connected to a group of men that I can truly trust.
