I was impressed by the customer service in person, online, and over the phone. They were educational. Jim headed me in the right direction on a mirrorless camera. I was so overwhelmed by the choices! Jim helped me understand the features I did and didn't need based on the photos I'll be taking. I was also impressed with how many staff were present. I was there at a busy time of day, and they were able to help people quickly.

Just visited for my first time to get film developed after having some unfortunate issues with Walgreens development. After only one visit I can’t say enough great things about Schillers!!! The employees are helpful, friendly, and educated on all things camera and photo. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to develop film. I'm perplexed by the negative reviews. My experience at Schiller's was above and beyond. When first calling the store, they told me the 8mm film I had that I needed to convert to digital would take 6 wks. When I told them that my son needed the film to use asa prop in a play, they said they would try to expedite it. They had it ready for me in a week! When I went into the store, there was someone available to help me immediately, even though there were probably ten customers in the shop at the time. My experience at Schiller's was top of the line and everyone I dealt with was extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely steer business their way whenever possible.

Had my DSLR Sony camera's sensor cleaned last week and WOW. Didn't realize how bad it was. Schiller's did a GREAT job, customer service was fantastic and the fact that it is done right there on the premises was a great relief. Turn around time was 24 hours, so I was back to snapping photos on the weekend!

I'm a little bit late in this review. This is hands down the only place in the St. Louis area where you should take your camera to get it sensor cleaned. The staff is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. The parking lot is a little wonky.

Amazing place! So many cameras and every type of camera-related accessory. They even develop film and do prints from digital. There are so many staff people on hand to help that its almost unreal after being used to the apathy and spotty knowledge of the big box stores. Schillers is awesome!

It pains me to say I'm not a fan of Schiller's Camera. I have yet to find another shop in the area that develops film so this has been my only resort. Their work is decent but it's both their service and enviornment that causes me to stay away. I thought it was only a one time thing when I first arrived in St. Louis so I give them the benefit of the doubt and continue to come back. Sadly it's the same ol' story. Anytime I enter the shop I'm getting looks as if I shouldn't be there. It always takes me having to speak first or approach an associate in order to receive help. If there is "help" it's often short & dismissive as if I've either done something wrong or an associate doesn't want to speak with me. I've been shooting on film for +10 years and sincerely enjoy the sights of a photo shop. All the cameras, lenses, gadgets and more is the photo geek in me looking to share that experience with the people working there. It's never been that way and don't plan on coming back to look for it. I'll figure out how to develop my own film at home from now on to save me the trip.

Absolutely amazing customer service. They were faster than Amazon. I needed a lens that all sellers on Amazon could not send by the time I needed it. I reached out to Schiller's as they are the closest camera shop to me. Even though they are 3 hours away, and we projected a 5 day turnaround and ship time, I received my lens in 2 days. They didn't charge me extra and went above and beyond to make sure I had my new lens in time for my shoot.

I am more than satisfied with my experience at Schillers! I went to get film developed and first of all- the price and value was fantastic— outstanding in comparison to other film developers. Everyone there was so helpful and knowledgeable, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I chose to get my photos in Dropbox, and they arrived in FOUR HOURS! I will definitely be using Schillers for all of my film and any other camera needs. I’m obsessed!

Not once did I experience a flaw ... always perfect, always timely. When the odd photo turned out not the way I had imagined, it was reprinted and fixed at no extra cost. What a great place! This was my first time ever going to this store! I went there this morning with my boyfriend to sell my canon 6D mark ll & my 24-105mm lens. I was trying to sell them on Facebook marketplace, but wasn’t having any luck! After being inspected, the man helping me realized something was wrong with my lens. This lens might’ve been used three times. I was kind of embarrassed bringing in a lens that had issues that I didn’t know of, but I’m so glad that he realized it!! I could’ve sold the lens to someone, not even realizing it had issues. I would’ve felt so horrible. He gave me the best options to get my lens fixed. I walked into the store just wanting to sell those two products, but walked out with two new products! Lol He showed me a battery grip that will help me photograph all day weddings without worrying about my battery dying. We also purchased a drone! So excited to try it out!! I didn’t catch the name of the man that helped us, but he was very professional, very nice, down to earth, & super helpful. He is definitely an exceptional asset to this business! I highly recommend this shop to other photography lovers! I will definitely be back!! Thank you so much for the great experience!! 😊

Stellar service today. Excellent staff. Although they didn't have a battery in stock that I needed the salesperson jumped on the phone and found what I needed elsewhere. This is above and beyond what I had expected. I will definitely be purchasing all my photo gear here going forward. They can do old style cameras and film up to the very latest in videography. The people here are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Most if not all of them are experienced photographers/videographers themselves. They will be able to help you find what you need and answer any questions you may have along the way, no matter your experience level. They have an excellent selection of gear in-store. I came in looking to buy a lens. They let me try out the lenses I was trying to pick from in-store to help me make my decision. This was incredibly helpful. They also have an excellent selection of used equipment and film/darkroom materials all at reasonable prices. This wasn't my first visit, and it certainly won't be my last!

I am so impressed with this place. I am a regular film user and I am constantly getting my film developed. For the longest time I went to chains like CVS or Walgreens and had terrible experiences. I tried to send my film to a company in another state by mail but that got to be too expensive. I love Schiller's because they have the best prices, the best prints I have seen, the quickest turn around, and a friendly staff. I am so glad I found this place. While in the store today I heard a woman complaining to the staff that they charge too much for film development and for prints. Clearly she has never tried anywhere else. They actually have the best price, especially for a quick turnaround... and I am happy to pay an extra 10 cents a print for the quality they provide.

Best camera shop I've ever been to! We bought 2 new cameras, one a point and shoot, the other digital (DLR). With it came a couple of dozen free prints and a free class, all for the same price as online at "Very Large River in South America." Service is excellent, they really know their stuff, and are adept at explaining complicated stuff to novices and other "low photography information" picture takers!

They had what I needed and they were able to get it to me after paying a reasonable price for expedited shipping. Sales staff was very helpful and not high pressure. I worked with Joe Howard and he answered all of my questions, including a follow up call regarding and order. They do purchase old equipment but it's a bit like gamestop in that they won't offer much. There's a nice selection but what I wanted was backordered so supply chains appear to still be disrupted. Prices are in the expected range even considering it is a brick and mortar store and their value in knowledge alone is worth it. I was very pleased with my experience. (Full disclosure, I have more knowledge and experience than an entry level amateur photographer but am not a professional.)

To my knowledge, Schiller's is the last place in town that you can actually get hands on with high end cameras. I bought a Canon 6D today and a couple of lenses. The sales associate was polite and more than willing to answer all of my questions and find the perfect camera for me to shoot semi professional portraits and landscape. Cameras and lenses were right on the price, but it seemed like peripherals like bags and lights were a pretty overpriced. Otherwise a 5 star experience.

I went in with specific needs related to the kind of camera I wanted and Paul, the gentleman who helped me, listened to exactly what I said. He didn’t try to convince me that I needed something more elaborate or different. When I asked something he didn’t know for sure, he asked another coworker who knew. Everyone working there seems knowledgeable and they support and cooperate with each other. The price I paid was exactly the same as if I had ordered it online but I ended up way ahead because my salesman took time to get it all set up for me and ready to go. I took beautiful pictures that same afternoon and felt comfortable with the camera. Knowing that I have a person to go back to if I have any problems is much more valuable than saving a few dollars by buying it online or at a store which doesn't have employees who specialize in cameras.

Finally posting about my great experience with Schiller’s Camera in August. My grandparents had a wedding picture that was delicate from the 1950s, and I wanted a high quality copy of it to display at my grandfather’s funeral. Schiller’s went above and beyond to make sure that the copy was available to me on short notice (and they were short-staffed due to vacations). Their pricing was great on photo prints, so I had other old, delicate photos copied as well to display. Their excellent customer service in my family’s time of grief truly meant a lot. I’m looking forward to using Schiller’s again...next time with no rush :)

Ive been visiting this shop since last ‘17 and up until today ive always had good customer service i call them to pay for some film i had developed and was put on hold. When I was taken off hold (they had to find my order which is understandable) i was speaking to a woman who seemed like i was bothering her the second i she spoke to me. I paid for my order and when i asked questions seem came off very condescending to me and when i said thank you the lady she hung up abruptly. Very good camera shop, they offer great services to the community ,for the most part the customer service is A1 but apparently ,that depends on who you are speaking with.

Schiller's is the last camera store in St. Louis and there is a reason. No other camera store in this city has EVER come close to their service, expertise and product selection! Every time I go to Schiller's I get nothing but A+++ service. I was in last year interested in stepping up my photography game from my simple yet useful Sony-DSH9 to a Canon Rebel T5i. I decided I wanted to learn about photography and wanted to get a camera that I could grow with. So I decided to check out Schiller's and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Brad. He was simply amazing and patient with answering my questions about the camera. After asking me some questions he recommended the Canon 70D and after doing more research on the model I decided it was definitely for me. So this past January I finally had my camera. I originally received it from Sam's Club but didn't open it because I wanted to know what type of deal that Schiller's was offering. So I looked on their website and saw their lens package was better than Sam's not to mention they also offered a better warranty package, and include a free beginner class when you purchase a camera through them. So I went to Schillers and spoke to another salesman, who was just a great as Brad. I bought the camera after making sure all of my questions were answered and I was satisfied. I also bought some accessories and returned the other camera back to Sam's. Since then I have also been back to buy a messenger style camera bag, a lightbox, and a tripod. I also took my introductory camera class. The service is nothing but wonderful and I highly recommend them.

I have been a customer for nearly four years now. Previous customer of Creve Coeur Camera. The moment I was greeted I already felt valued. Even when they are busy(which is often, understandably), they are still very attentive and make sure you know that they are thinking of you while you wait. All of my camera purchases happen at Schiller's. I also rent lenses from them often and will not rent from anyone else in St. Louis. They remember my name quite often, though I don't know how because they have so many customers! They go above and beyond when it comes to customer service and I will continue to look forward to going to this store. It feels good to give a great company your business! Compared to the main chain of camera stores in St. Louis, well, there is no comparison! You will be not be disappointed.

I was assisted promptly as soon as I entered the store. They have a lot of photography items: cameras, binoculars, books, flashes, reflective umbrellas, tripods, and lenses. In fact, since Creve Coeur Camera became a photo school, Schiller's is the only full-on photo shop in St. Louis. They process and print color and black and white film, too.

Went in to get a camera bag. It was very busy (Saturday afternoon). Eventually got service and left without any real hassle. Can't really rate sales staff or service knowledge and friendliness, but their speed was mediocre. Definitely seemed friendly and knowledgeable with their regulars. (For those who are looking for a regular place to buy photography equipment on a regular basis) Check their inventory online and research their equipment before going there. It will save you lots of time.

There are really only 2 main camera stores here in St Louis and I've had experience with both. This review is about the private lesson (1.5 hr) I had today with their main teacher, Paul to cover questions I had regarding my Sony RX 10 IV that came out a year ago. Though I had purchased a book from Amazon that covered the camera very well, I was still confused by how Sony had set up their focusing features. Because I came with a written list of questions, Paul was able to pinpoint exactly where to start, filling in when I had gaps in understanding, eg. the difference between focus area and focus mode. By the end, I felt confident that my goals were reached. Paul is a gifted teacher. I look forward to taking more lessons (private or group) with him. (Last year, I had a 3 hr private lesson with the "other camera store" on the Sony and that was a horrible experience, which I also documented in a review.) I know which store is the ONLY one for me!

Joe Howard did an amazing work for me. I'm glad he was the one who took care of me on June 17th. I went to Schiller's to get my camera fix on June 2nd, The lady who took it tryied to check it for me after few minutes she wrote my name in a piece of paper and my phone number telling me she needed to keep the camera for about an hour to check on the batteries to be charged, but that she would call me back as soon as she could. After days she never reach me, so I called the following week and they told me there was no camera or information about it, THEY COULD'T FIND MY CAMERA! Then after 3 days I call again asking for the lady and she was on the phone telling me she had my camera and the cost to send it to repair was about $400. So I told her "no thanks I will pick it up soon". I pick my camera up on June 17th, and they couldn't find it AGAIN!!!! After 40 minutes waiting Joe H. finally did find my camera, and took his time to check the camera for me, he put a new battery to test it and a new memory card and Magic! My camera turn on perfectly and worked as brand new camera. I'm glad after all Schiller's help me out once again eventhough I almost got a hard attack by thinking about my camera got lost. - I went like 3 weeks ago because a wrong memory card got stock into my cannon camera. I tried 2 different places to get it out but they couldn't do it saying i have to send it to cannon factory or break it !!! Then I stop by my last try "Schiller's" you won't believe it! It took me 5 minutes to be waiting, and they fixed!!! unfortunately my camera got some minor damage with all that trying from the other places I went.

Pros - they are THE "local" photo shop in St. Louis. They match prices to some extent. There's a wide range of gear. There are usually plenty of people walking around to assist. They've serviced and cleaned my gear. They do excellent printing. They're in the city. I'm mostly Nikon and my Canon/Sony/Fuji pro photographer friends are all big fans of this place. Cons - Do a price comparison before you shop but again they might work with you. My customer experiences have not all been pleasant. Inconsistent to say the least. They could benefit from more diverse team of employees. Not a jab, just an honest suggestion. For me, the two viable camera options are Creve Coeur Camera and Schillers, so I will be back.

Schiller's converted some old fragile movie film for me and they made some beautiful memories able to be seen again. The film was so fragile we were afraid to play it. The conversion they completed was amazing. Thanks for giving me film of my parents wedding so many years ago.

I emergently needed a part for my camera; the battery door came off mysteriously, and I only had two days until I left the country to replace it. Stephanie was the person that helped me; she was AH-MAZING. She looked high and low for the battery door, and then came up with the idea to offer me a battery grip instead when a door couldn't be found. This solved my battery problem and improved my camera overall. Not only that, but she overnighted it to me so I wouldn't have to travel without my camera. Thank you so much! I'll remember to call you first next time.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. They produced a beautiful enlargement of a black and white horse/with trainer photo from the 1960s--from the negative that I managed to find. I'll be back to have some more made. Also, they bought an old camera from me, probably also from the 1960s or 70s, when I just went there to give it to them--for free.

Very frustrated. (UPDATED SEE BELOW) 5 weeks ago I took 3 prints to be enlarged, one of which needed to be retouched. Received them today. The order was totally reversed rendering the one print unable to fit in either frame (one frame was smaller than the other). Even took the backings (old pictures) of the frames in when I placed the order to SHOW how it was suppose to be. So now (no apology) but a promise of getting the order correct tomorrow. The cost was close to 200.00, a week later than what was promised and the order wrong. Also, I did not receive my original (old) pictures back that I took in to show the dimensions. They did finally locate them. So I get to drive back there again tomorrow and hopefully, the order will be correct. On the high note the retouching was excellent. UPDATE: Approximately 10 minutes after posting the above review Rob contacted me by phone.. He apologized and then proceeded to right all of the wrongs :) They delivered to my house the next day the correct order with extra copies of the prints as well. When a company goes out of their way to make amends you cannot help but to then give them five stars. That is customer service.
