Come by and check it out. They are a bit expensive so ask first before buying a name brand item. They also have used items for sale. Overall Sammy’s is the place to go..!

A few weeks ago, I came in with an old film camera my mother gave me and some prints for her birthday. I needed help choosing a film and learning how to load my newly acquired camera. Mary Lopez was the one who assisted me first with choosing my film and learning how to load my newly acquired camera. The store was jam-packed, but Mary was super patient and even gave me some shooting tips! I then headed upstairs for my prints and was helped by Ben Zimmerman! Ben was outstanding; I was really in the dark about what types of adjustments and changes could be made, but Ben made sure to spend time with me to ensure we got it looking just right. My mother was over the moon with Ben's work, and we are already gathering tons of old photos to get the same treatment!

I’ve rent from Samy’s camera on a regular basis for the last year- and they are the most professional stills camera rental house I’ve ever used. Full stop. All the people who work there are well informed, patient, understanding and great to work with. Without them, I simply wouldn’t be able to do my job how it’s supposed to be done. They’re invaluable and I wish I could give six stars. Even outside of the rental department; Samy’s excels. The pro-video department, the corporate sales team, the grip guys out front, the parking attendants. The best!

Samy's is average camera shop with an better than okay selection. The staff isn't friendly, but nobody is jerk. People are nice enough. The prices are okay and competitive with what you would find online. Some clerks try to down sell you, which I guess isn't as bad as people trying to up sell you. I go to Samy's about six times a year, and only have one bad experience every year.

I gotta be honest, I’ve been coming to the old Culver City location for years. It was fine, hit or miss if you got good help, but I get it, it can be a stressful job— especially during these times. I can empathize, especially if customers can be jerks. Since that location closed I’ve been checking in at the Fairfax location for a Fuji camera I’ve had my eye on. This time Ken Kawaguchi helped me out, and while the camera wasn’t in stock, Ken was awesome. He was incredibly patient, personable, and went above and beyond to figure out what was going on: as with most things COVID related, there are delays everywhere. At any rate, thanks Ken, keep doing your thing, you’re a good dude 👊🏽.

Samy’s is my go-to for both personal photography equipment and professional services. Their rental prices for equipment are fair and their stock is very large. For hobbyist photography, this is a great stop to check out the multiple levels of gear, the top floor of which full of extremely nice, high quality equipment. Also free parking!

In bought my Fujifilm XT3 here. They had better prices than amazon because I didn’t have to pay for tax because of a Mother’s Day special. I am happy with my camera and the experience. I also rented a Sony A7111 here, it worked really well. Easy to work with, great service, and good deals. Glad there are still places like this.

My partner and I had a vintage 80s-era point and shoot in for repair that we scooped at a flea but feared was probably irreparably broken. The model and its parts are long out of print so we assumed it to be probably junk. The Sam’s camera repair man inspected it on the spot, tested a few things, and figured out our issue in 5 minutes or less while we waited. Magic! The camera is now working excellently, and he didn’t charge us a penny. It’s that kind of customer service that is literally nowhere these days, and will ensure we come back to support whenever we have camera needs and wants.

I really like this place, but, as a Pentax shooter I can't say I quite love it since their selection of Pentax gear is rather limited. They do carry a great selection of Canon, Nikon, Sony, Hasselblad, Leica and other camera brands. They also carry an assortment of lighting equipment, tripods, monopods, video equipment, printers and much more. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Some of their employees have worked there for over 40 years! By the way, this is a four story building, and it is chock full of goodies. They have plenty of parking as well, and nice restrooms. There was also a huge mural on the outside wall when I visited.

While it's not the cheapest place to buy photo or video equipment, Samy's Camera has great associates who are friendly and help get you what you need. This particular location is HUGE and most likely has anything and everything you are looking for and more. One of the best parts of this location is their huge selection of paper backdrops, which are difficult to find online without paying a ton of money for shipping. Awesome place with awesome people, who needs more than that? Update: Dec 30th 2022 Another great experience at Samy's. While I'm not a huge customer for photo and video due to their markups, there isn't a better place to pick up things that are annoying to ship like sandbags. Picked up 10, high quality 25lb sandbags for a fraction more than what it would cost + effort of filling my own Amazon bags. I told the associate I was interested in 10 bags and he got them all ready on a cart for me and held them for me for around an hour while my friend and I browsed the other levels. The fourth floor opening up to Come Pros. Love that they have Aputure Lights on display and out for folks go play with. It was awesome to see the Aputure 1200d in action on the floor. Makes me want one though my budget says otherwise 😜

Got a love Samy‘s camera store. This place is really great they have everything that you need and the knowledge to help you too. I need to get my sensor cleaned for a shoot later that night, and they were actually able to get me in and have my sensor cleaned on the spot. I went to Samy's today with 4 vintage cameras to see if any of them worked and I had a great time with Richard in their repair department. He took the time to go through all of them and teach me about what I had. He's some kind of camera genius. He even fixed one of them free of charge and taught me how to use it. I love this place. Everyone in the camera department is great, especially Ian Santer, who helped me pick out a used Canon 5D Mark III, two lenses, a flash and a new bag after all my equipment had gotten stolen. He was really patient with me and took the time to explain everything to me and make suggestions. Everything I got was like new. I am looking forward to adding more lenses, a tripod and maybe a backup camera to my equipment in the new future and will definitely be working with Ian again. Also wanted to mention that I met the store manager and he really is the nicest guy and he mentioned that they are giving classes there, which I will be definitely looking into at some point.

The guy on the phone was pretty patronizing and rude because I didn’t know how to identify what type of Mount my lens has. He could have nicely told me I needed to come into the store for him to look at it but instead aggressively cut me off when I asked if there was I way I could visually identify it myself. I’m going to come in because these guys seem to know their stuff but honestly hope they’re a little more friendly in person to people who are still learning about gear and aren’t “experts”. As if it isn’t intimidating enough already. I wonder if it’s all men that work at the store. It honestly makes me wish there was an alternative.

Samy's Camera is a great one stop shop for photographers. Shopping aside, it's a great place for picking their brains, taking classes, or renting or repairing equipment (which is closed on Sundays). Their service is fast and really helpful. We've been in a few times for repairs and they're incredibly fast. One time a mic we were having repaired was lost and they gave us a new of the same mic for free. We've purchased soft boxes, lenses, etc.

Helpful staff with good knowledge of the gear. This place is a ice supplement to online gear reviews and tech blogs. They are quick with service if you are in a rush to grab gear you know you need. During COVID, they have a good “curb side” pickup system. Call ahead and they will have your order ready and delivered to your vehicle without having to enter the store.

Excellent service. I went looking for a tethering cable and Amadeus (yes, like Mozart) went above and beyond to make sure I had exactly what I needed. He also gave me lighting recommendations all while maintaining proper social distancing guidelines (even down to utilizing hand sanitizer after swiping my card). Riding a high of great service, I perused the floor below as I was in the market for a lens for my Nikon D810. Ian, let me see the 24-70 but also introduced me to the Sigma version which I never considered. The myriad of options available allowed me to find the right lens for me within budget. Thank you Samy's for your professional yet benevolent approach to customer care. I'll definitely return soon.

I had ordered a Sigma lens about $2500 and I been having problems with the Len I had send the lens back 2 times and still Sigma was little hesitant about replacing it or refund me so Sammys Mrg Scott really went up to bat for me along with the sales rep for Sigma and the lens was replaced right away ...please photographers I know you can save little $ on amazon or eBay but don't do it because you will not get the kind of treatment and love that Sammys camera will give as there cus and this is not the first Sammys has come to my side when dealing with products and even suggesting something other then I was looking and I have not been let down ...I tip my Hat to all the Sammys stores but I have to give a Great Shout out to Sammys on Fairfax in Los Angeles and Sammy in Pasadena Jeff Mrg there will go out of his way to make sure you get the Best serve

Because of Samy's Camera, I got the best camera and promotions so that I could take the best pictures, from blizzards to palm trees, and to even places where the water is so blue. Great environment... the sales people really care and the service shows. I never once had someone try to up-sale me on something I didn’t need or wasn’t right for my work.

Always a good place to go to for your photography needs. I went there a couple of times to buy things when in LA and also got one-on-one courses with Drake. He has been very helpful recently he has also helped me with a camera purchase and I have to say he is very knowledgeable and knows photography. Great place to purchase all you camera gear. Came in for a lens and walked out with a Sony a7rll. Drew was very helpful in answering all our questions. Will definitely make the drive here from Whittier after being ripped of at the closer to my home Fullerton Cameras. If you have never been to Samy's Camera you are missing out on their honesty and expertise.

Everything photography for the pro and amateur alike. Better than shopping on Amazon you can actually operate the devices and ask questions. Mostly the same prices as Amazon, with frequent manufacturers' discounts. Forget the weekends where there's always a wait to talk to a salesperson. Best to go here on a weekday during the day to spend decent time with a salesperson, all of whom are knowledgeable at an expert level. Several floors in what seems to have been a department store at one time.

I was very pleased with the flow of customer service. Upstairs I waited a bit before someone asked me for help and I had a ticket. But I give this locating 5 stars despite that wait because the service was phenomenal. I mean it's obvious I didn't know anything about cameras but the counter help educated me in a very noon condescending tone, very patient. Parking lot lot was vey organized and got in and out quick despite busy parking lot.

I really enjoyed my experience here. I was a little nervous and intimidated at first l, because I'm as amateur as it gets and I'm really new to all of the stuff camera related. It's huge store, almost a department store, so it's easy to get a little overwhelmed. But everyone here was really nice and helpful and I was pleasantly surprised. I expected everyone to have really uptight and snooty attitudes, particularly towards me because I just strolled in off the street, clueless as ever, but when I asked for advice and help on stuff, everyone was more than helpful. Justin was very nice and really talked to me about the kinds of tripods and I left assured that the one I chose was great for what I paid. Another gentleman who's name I did not catch helped me pick a bag. Camera gear is expensive, so naturally I would've like to NOT have spent nearly $100 on a bag alone, but the service here made me feel confident and happy with my purchases.

You can get pictures printed and photos repaired. Sammy's camera is a really great place to got to for all types of camera needs. I personally have an old Canon ae1 and they can always help point me in the right direction with my questions. They have almost every tool a photographer might need, their film processing service is very good and usually pretty quick and simple, however, not the cheapest. The only problem I really have with them is that they, when I last went in, were not able to fix my camera(they said they didn't do it and refered me to a different company), but other than that, all purchases I have made with them have left me feeling good about the quality of the product as well as not feeling as though I had killed my wallet.

Samys is a good place. They have most of what you would need. And the people there tend to be very helpful. I've bought most of my equipment there, santa barbara location and LA. The pro dept upstairs seems to be leaving a little in equipment. To also Cathy versions things not mentioned on their site. Still worth it.

I love Samy's on fairfax - i've had many good experiences but I'm now compelled to write about LARRY. I came in looking for a solution for a ring light and a custom bracket and Larry worked with me for almost two hours and what I needed ended up being only $60...he was super helpful and kind and made sure I didn't buy anything I didn't need - - later I was telling my brother about my gear and he said, "was the guy named Larry who helped you?" and turns out he had had a very positive time with him the week before :) Or maybe Larry just loves my family and doesn't know it.

Here's something to bear in mind when you're reading the negative reviews of this store: it just may have been someone (employee or customer) having a bad day rather than some kind of conspiracy on the part of Samy's employees to ridicule their customers. I stopped by there earlier today to buy a video monopod. Yes, the store's layout can be a bit overwhelming. But in the first 60 seconds, I had at least two employees politely offer to point me in the direction of the department I was looking for. The gentleman who fielded my inquiry about the monopod I wanted (which wasn't on the shelf) cheerfully retrieved it from a back room and handled my transaction professionally and without the slightest hint of contempt. Then I went to the 4th floor, and spoke with a gentleman named Keith, who for 10 minutes very patiently and knowledgeably answered my extremely basic questions about filtering systems. So, all in all, a very pleasant experience. Of course, your mileage may vary. But I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Samy's is legendary as THE place to go in Los Angeles for all things photographic. My Canon SX170 got dropped when I was returning it to its (well-padded but undersize) case, damaging the zoom and shutter mechanisms and rendering it unusable. I was dreading the repair bill or having to buy a replacement, but to my surprise a guy in the service department fiddled with it and got it back in working order in 5 minutes! He didn't even open the case, just tinkering with the lens and working his mojo-magic on it. AND didn't charge for the service! From there, I went straight upstairs and bought a new (larger) camera case to ensure there would be no repeat of the incident - AND the case was on sale! Woo-Hoo!

I had a very specific problem, mounting my Sennheiser directional mic to the Beastgrip, a structure that you can attach a mobile phone to. The staff, Francisco, was extremely helpful coming up with innovative solutions. The resulting mount consisted of a screw, a screw adaptor, and a fastening device, all working together to form an extremely stable mount for the mic. Francisco said that he appreciated the challenge, especially since it ended with a very clever solution. Throughout the experience, which lasted over half an hour, F was extremely patient and excited by the challenge. I highly recommend Sammy's as a great source of camera and video equipment and accessories at a very competitive price compared to other retailers. Service was exceptional.

I walked into camera heaven today and unfortunately I had to leave. This place has four freaking flours dedicated to all things camera! First floor is for rentals expendables and film as well as some other small items like mini tripods and what not, the second floor is specifically for repairs, the third floor is the third most exciting floor to me. The third floor is where all the slrs and dslrs are. They've got a huge selection of top of the line dslrs, but their selection of 35mm film slrs was miniscule, but they must role with the times. I was actually looking for a "new" film camera but all they had was the Nikon f100 and I just couldn't aford it. Anyway, besides dslrs, they also carry range finder cameras on the third floor. (By the way, there IS and elevator) The forth and final floor is the professional floor with all the medium format cameras, the type of cameras some can only dream of. Over all, everyone here is so friendly and patient. They provide excellent costumer service and they all know their stuff. 👌👌

A couple of weeks ago I had a last minute gig and needed to get very creative with a budget. Drew and David at the cinemaworks department helped me piece together a cheap shoulder rig I bought from craigslist. They made the world of difference by replacing the key part with sturdy metal pieces and helped lens focus gear and save me tons by getting a aputure monitor. I was onset shooting BTS for a show at Paramount and the DP department was blown away by the quality and the price of the monitor. Drew and David got very creative with my budget and I can not believe the deals I got. Most places seem to be more worried about selling you on the most expensive equipment but these guys are truly interested in helping you get the BEST bang for your buck. They made such an impact that the next time I need gear I am going to call and make sure they are working to make sure I am in good hands.

I initially went to buy a simple adaptor for my GoPro Hero4 tripod....I asked a question about the LCD screen.......Mike was so nice and passionate, he showed me how to set up WIFI, download an App which made all my questions dissolve.
