MN Exteriors did the roof on our house and garage yesterday and this was the smoothest, most organized roof crew I've ever seen. They were driven, never screamed or yelled at each other to do this or that and, in general, treated us friendly and respectfully including our lawn and structures. Really impressed. Our roof and gutters were damaged in a storm, Brandon came out right away to take a look. He kept in contact with my insurance company to make sure we were getting exactly what we needed. They stayed in contact and within 2 weeks they dropped off materials and had the roof completed the very next day. All of our neighbors were still waiting on their different companies months later! I called Minnesota Exteriors after being unsatisfied with the quote process from a highly recommended competitor. From my first contact with Troy Dvergsten from MEI I've been nothing but satisfied. I felt like he listened to my needs and concerns and made sure that what he sold me was the best product. After being "sold" to by his competitors I was pleased that he didn't bombard me with well rehearsed bits. After we signed our agreement he and his team were in regular communication while we waited for our windows to be manufactured and shipped. After a few months they called and told me the windows came in early so they would be able to install a month or so ahead of schedule. The installers were quick and professional. They took great care to ensure everything fit and was properly insulated. Looking forward to a winter without a constant breeze of cold air!

Fantastic job so far!! We contacted MEI around April of 2021. Met with Gary at our home and he walked us through the process for a full exterior install. Gary walked us through all of the various siding material, colors, styles etc... We were quoted an approx. price on that day which was very realistic compared to some of the previous companies. Gary was very easy to work with, very knowledgeable, and has a very non aggressive sales approach. Rose took time to put together quite a few mock up's using different colors, styles, stone etc. which was very helpful in deciding which direction to go. We then decided to go to the showroom to look at the different siding and stone options up close. Again, both Gary and Rose helped us decide on our design. Due to the pandemic, the install got pushed a couple of times, which was fine for us since we needed to do some things of our own before the crew could start. We got on the calendar for May 2022. The Job Sup. Pat came out ahead of the crew and walked the house with me and explained the game plan in detail. Another great experience working with MEI. Pat is very easy to work with and is very transparent about every aspect of the job. Jose and his crew arrived a couple days later, Pat was there as well. These guys were unbelievable!!!! They worked 7am to 7pm every day and had the siding, soffits, facia and trim done in roughly 10 days. Jose and his crew did an absolutely fantastic job, we have a new home!!!! Pat came out the next day for a job check and final detail cleanup, again nice job!! Vlad, the Gutter installer was on site this morning and was doing an amazing job. He walked the house with me to explain his game plan and advice on where to position downspouts etc.... Another great experience with these installers. Next up is the stone installer. I'm sure we will be equally impressed with his work as well. Overall, we are extremely impressed with our experience with MEI and there staff and crew and will be recommending to anyone looking for exterior service on their home.

MEI was wonderful to work with in our residing project. Our days of painting the house are behind us! Their saleperson, Troy, was super informative and always on our side, answering questions quickly and keeping us updated regarding schedules/next steps. Our house was transformed from a dingy beige with 50 year-old masonite siding to one with Summit Blue LP siding with white trim. The installers were efficient and very experienced. They also worked with us to sort through minor decisions in the installation. In the end, we were pleased with the work MEI did for us and look forward maintenance-free ownership. I've included a photo showing the project in the final stage.

In early spring of 2022, my son and I finally decided that 20-year-old bedroom windows and a sliding glass door in our town home needed to be replaced. These windows all faced west and got the brunt of the afternoon sun in the summer and during the winter the bedroom windows needed shrinkable window film applied to keep out the drafts. I did an online search which to say the least was overwhelming. There are a lot of window companies in the Twin Cities area!! I mentioned this to my younger son who told me to call Minnesota Exteriors. He was very pleased with windows, the installation, the price and the warranty (the whole package) that he had received from MEI. I did call MEI and Troy Dvergsten met us at our home. First of all, we explained to him that the windows and sliding glass door had to look exactly like the ones being replaced (Association mandate), also the screen had to be installed in the same side of each window, just like the rest of the windows at the Association. We told him that in the summer we could not touch the glass of the windows and door because of the heat transfer. We had even installed tinted window film when we moved in to try to combat some the heat. In the winter the windows would get ice buildup on the bottom of the glass. Troy said MEI could supply windows and a door that looked exactly like the original ones, only they would have a UV coating on the glass to stop the sun's glare and would have all around insulating properties that the home's original steel windows lacked. Troy also explained in detail the differences between the old and the new windows, he explained all steps that would be taken at installation to ensure draft-free windows. And he explained the lifetime warranty on the windows and installation. Troy then the measurements of the sliding glass door and windows, counted the number of squares in each created by the inserts and check his numbers again. My son and I had one more vendor to meet with, but in the end Troy's approach of letting the quality of MEI products and warranty sell itself. I really like a “no pressure” salesperson.

MEI recently completed siding and window replacement. We couldn't be happier with the communication and responsiveness from start to finish, and the quality and professionalism seen throughout. Brandon Collins was able to work with us in the sales phase to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. He was responsive and attentive to our many questions and ideas and the end result was fantastic. Once the project started, our Field Supervisor Steve Faber was out daily to check on progress and make sure we were happy with the work done. He was always quick to get us answers on any questions, and made sure that our satisfaction was the top priority of the project. Materials arrived the day before the project started and were picked up the day following completion. The organization and coordination of everything was top notch. After the experience we had, we won't be looking anywhere else in the future if we need and exterior work done. In our experience, it's difficult to find contractors that are focused on client satisfaction, quality work, and efficiency, and open lines of communication in all phases of the project. MEI has checked all those boxes and more.

We have used MEI three seperate times. First time was for four windows in two of our upper level bedrooms. When we decided to replace our lower level windows, who did we call? MEI of course, Our house is split entry so our basement windows are half in and half out. We had them replace all eight lower level windows. We have a bay window in our living room with four casements with two facing forward and the other two angled. The two front facing windows had rotted. So of course we called MEI for their Wellington brand windows. We love the quality and looks of their windows. Their sales people and installation people are great to work with. During install, they make a minimum mess and when they leave, the only way hat you can tell they were here is by the great looking windows When our porch windows go, you know who we will contact. Troy Dvergsten was our last sales contact. Very easy doing business with him. Thank you again for what you have done for us.

April, 2022 Thank you M.E.I. for the exceptional roof your team put on my home and garage. Many months were spent selecting a local company I believed would give a great value at a reasonable price point and today I am happy to share that my expectations were surprisingly surpassed in many ways. The materials arrived beforehand along with the receptical bin and work begain exactly on time. My house is older and requires a bit more attention. M.E.I. alerted me to the extra care needed right away so that I could make an informed decision. The crew is very professional and friendly. Completed in rapid fashion, I am amazed at how well my home looks upon completion. Great job with the clean up process and follow up with my satisfaction. I am looking forward, very much, to the completion of the siding, gutter, and fascia work yet to be done. If you are in the market for a external home refit, I highly suggest M.E.I. for the job. Just wanted to jump on here and say how fantastic MEI is. I’ve used them twice now, once for windows and now gutters. Both times I worked with Troy, extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain the process. Especially with our windows, which he thoroughly explained the differences between one brand to the other we ended up with. He stayed within our budget and never tried to push us past it. He is a credit to your company. Next, the crew that came out worked efficiently, was extremely friendly, put out some extremely quality finished product, and cleaned after themselves thoroughly. We have a house that was built in 1977 where most of the house is original. Derrick came out for a quote and was very professional with he thought needed to be replaced. He laser measured everything and showed us what the house would look like with different color combinations. We ended up getting new vinyl siding, new gutters, and about half our windows were replaced. Our house looks great and installation went well!

They are by far the best windows on the market right now. The windows, screens and hardware are well made. We used LP siding. I was so impressed by the quality and the look of this product. Even the gutters turned out great. All the installers are very knowledgable and obviously experienced. They did quality work. It is clear, MEI has decades of experience and knowledge when it comes to exterior house projects. The price was reasonable. I would definitely use them again.

We replaced all our windows with Pinnacle Lindsay replacement windows through Minnesota Exteriors. This was a large investment to do all the windows but it came out much better compared to other companies and installers out there. The two installers arrived on-time each day and completed the work quickly and professionally. They were VERY experienced and cleaned up after themselves as well. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone. If you are looking at some of those large companies out there selling their own windows, take a look at Minnesota Exteriors. They have a large selection of windows of better quality and at a lower price. You'll get an unbiased opinion, not sold on a single brand of windows. For us we went with the Pinnacle Lindsay Windows which are made here in Minnesota. I would highly recommend Minnesota Exteriors for your replacement windows - they know their stuff!

We had hail damage last summer and needed our roof, siding, storm doors and gutters replaced. John G helped us through it all. Working with insurance was not a problem to them, John came and met with our adjuster on a Saturday for the entire time. The people in the office and warehouse made scheduling and insurance work super easy for us. We were able to pick out our products and colors by going to the show floor. One of the biggest reasons we used MEI for a second time is because they have a great service repair crew, if you ever have any issue with your install big or small they guarantee it and send out a crew to fix it. I've owned a number of homes throughout the years, also a few rental properties. In total, I've replaced 5 roofs, and sided 3 homes in the past 20 years, all with different contractors. I mention this to qualify this: That working with Minnesota Exteriors has been by far the best I have ever dealt with. The levels of communication were outstanding. Prior to job start, they started sending me mail and email telling me what to expect and when. As I read the letters, I could hear the voices of previous customers "It would be nice if you could have let us know XYZ before hand." Well, they must have listened because it was all there, in writing. I received phone calls coordinating supplies delivery, dumpster delivery, etc. Everything was en pointe, and that was all prior to starting work. We did both roofing and siding replacement. The roof was the first project. We have a large home (the roof alone was 1,700 sq ft) and I expected it to take several days, but they got the entire roof done in one day! I suspect it went so well because there was no hidden damage or rot, which of course would have drawn things out. This was in May 2020, so all the kids were schooling at home, and there was nowhere to take them because everything was shut down. Having it all done in one day was a major blessing. The roofing crews arrived on time, bright and early and worked all day long, non-stop, from 7a to 7p. They started by placing tarps around the entire house perimeter to catch debris. All was done and cleaned up in one day. I didn't think that would be possible but they did it. The dumpster was removed the following day and the siding crews showed up the following week, along with another dumpster. The siding crew was just two guys, which surprised me considering the massive workforce that was sent out to do the roof. But it was very obvious that these two had many years of experience. They worked quickly and accurately. They again laid out tarps prior to starting any work. They had the entire house siding done in just under 2 1/2 days. They started on a Wednesday and were finishing up on Friday morning. It probably could have been done in 2 days but we discovered that the master bathroom shower must have had a leak at some point in the past as there was lots of water damage (rot) to the housing exterior. Thankfully it was all dry now, so whatever the cause, it was no longer happening. They got it all remediated in short order, but I'm sure they would have had it all completed in 2 days otherwise. Again, this is a big house, over 2600 sq ft. They had separate folks that came out to inspect the job at each stage, and after completion they walked the lawn and flower beds to pull out any lost nails or debris that escaped the tarps. It was a grand total of 3.5 days of work over the span of 9 calendar days. From the moment the project entered their work pipeline through to project completion - I felt like I had stepped onto a conveyor belt of a well oiled machine. Everyone did their work quickly, efficiently, expertly, and at the end of the ride - all I could think was 'wow, that was fast'! There were some 'mistakes' but it was all simple stuff - like a utility box used for remote reading of my water meter, that was mounted on the wall such that when the hose reel was re-mounted, the handle would hit the box. I never liked where the reel was mounted in the first place so it got moved to a different spot. Another oversight was a louvered vent above the garage doors - the insurance co missed that and of course so did MEI, so we got that ordered and it was installed a week later. All very minor stuff. All the staff I worked with, Derrick T. (sales) & Tom W. were my primary contacts - I had all their contact info, all were first class. This was an insurance job, and they maintained communication with the insurance company and ensured everything was handled. TL;DR: Minnesota Exteriors (MEI) is a first class outfit and I could not be happier with their work. I recommend them without hesitation or reservation.

We used MEI this past winter to perform a full window replacement of our 1960s era single pane casement windows with brand new wood framed Anderson dual paned windows. Brian, our salesman, came out and inspected the windows, took measurements and a trim sample and provided a quote within a couple days. What was really excellent was the service when the installation team came out to our house. They came during the coldest stretch of the winter this past January and installed 14 out of the 15 windows. This whole process of removing and reinstalling new windows, including any interior sash work and exterior wrapping, was done in the same day, keeping the cold out of the house as much as possible. On the 15th window, it was noticed that the measurements were off and that a different window was needed. To MEIs credit, they placed an order with Anderson and had a new replacement within a couple weeks. They also corrected an error in milling with the new window trim and having all of that replaced versus trying to make a size that was too small fit into the opening. Each of these errors were handled professionally and without any financial impact to our family. I have been very satisfied with our new windows now that they have been installed these last 7 months. The windows look great, the trim matches wonderfully with our house's interior, and I would be happy to have them come back into our house for another project. Thank you MEI!

Minnesota Exteriors did a excellent job with the installation. However, I'm extremely disappointed with Marvin Windows. There are a number of issues with the screens (everyone of them looks like there are fine line scratches in them). The Marvin Patio door has a small hole in the interior frame. Marvin said this was not field replaceable. Someone from AM painting was supposed to fix it and bill it back to MN exteriors. This has not happened yet. The screen for the patio door was wrong. MN exteriors reordered it. When it came in it didn't look right...you can see daylight on both sides of the screen when it is closed. I'm not satisfied with that. Marvin sent the wrong interior for the half-moon window in the kitchen...MN exteriors reordered it. It's been nothing but delay after delay. Per my contract, I was only allowed to withhold 5% of the amount due. You can bet that when I decide to do the rest of the house, I will demand a 20% withholding. I only think this is fair. After contacting Marvin Windows, a rep from Marvin came out an looked at the installation. He corrected 2 problems with the initial install, and added the missing parts. The above was from last year (2016) Now it's October, 2017. I had the rest of my house done with Marvin Infinity series windows. Not the cheapest but the best. I was very satisfied with results. The installers put down tarps in all the rooms and walkways first. They did the entire job in one day (well they worked into the dark). Interior clean up was great, including the garage where they unwrapped the windows, and the driveway where they cut the finished wood (which by the way matched the woodwork in the house exactly). Exterior cleanup around the house, not so good. I did find two nails laying outside the patio door...I didn't look at the rest of the area yet. But it was dark and hopefully they'll come back and look around.

Good communication, but could do better especially in area of on site personnel. Had both installation of siding and stone work done quickly and efficiently, but more attention to detail like set up of ladders to protect plants and cleanup or walk through would have been nicer, but I'm sure each crew is different. In December of 2013, I had Minnesota Exteriors replace all nine of my home's windows with vinyl Lindsay windows. I had first contacted MN Exteriors in January of 2013 to get a quote. It wasn't until November of 2013 that I actually decided to follow through and again contacted MN Exteriors. By this time, however, the salesman that I had dealt with in January had taken some type of personal leave, so I was put into contact with a different salesman. I thought that this was going to cause some troubles or delays, but the new salesman was very responsive. He suggested that he come out, and he basically redid my quote since I had some additional questions. He thought it best just to start over and be involved from the beginning so that we could work through it together, giving me the best chance of having the best windows for me. Both of my salesman were very friendly and helpful in deciding the best windows for me. I'm a young, single, new home owner with no window experience; their suggestions were helpful and appreciated. After I put in my order and waited the few weeks to manufacture my custom windows, the installers came. It just so happened that the day of installation was during one of the extremely cold streaks with really bad roads. The installers braved the treacherous roads to come the day of my install. They were a little late, but, really, who can blame them? They put blankets down in the entrance way where they stored most of their gear and took shoes off when inside. It was a two man team with one outside and one inside. They moved quickly and were focused despite the terribly cold weather. They stayed a full day and managed to install all the windows. They cleaned up after themselves both inside and out, vacuuming wood shavings due to cutting out the old windows and picked up and hauled away all pieces of the old windows. All-in-all, my Minnesota Exteriors' window replacement was a positive experience and have no set backs to speak of. I tested for any airflow around the newly installed windows during the extremely cold days when it was around -20 degs F and windy and couldn't feel a thing. I'd say they did a quality install. The new windows are so much better than my breezy, rotted, 27 year old wood windows. Not to mention, I was happy with costs, considering they handled everything from beginning to end, including scheduling and paying for the inspector. Everything was very convenient, done on time, and done well. If you're looking to replace windows, I recommend MN Exteriors.

The reason for 4 stars is the new patio screen had a tear it in and it was going to get fixed and installed. Member Comments: I bid this job out for over a year and called all the big players in the area and also some smaller companies. My house is about 20 square of siding and the estimates were all over the place. The top estimate was over $50k with a lot of bids coming back in the 40s. I think some companies throw out huge numbers just to see how dumb/rich you are. So when the sales guy, Dan, came out I was already jaded by the whole process. I told him what I was looking for and that I had a number in my head what I thought it should cost. He didn't try any hard sell tactics and out of everyone I talked to he seemed the most interested in getting the job and working with me to get to a reasonable price. I will say he definitely earned his money on this job. We went back and forth for about a year and he ran through many different scenarios to keep the price on budget. It probably bordered on ridiculous how many quotes he sent me but through the whole time he remained professional and didn't seem bothered by all the hoops he was going through to get the job. He even asked me to get other bids and reviewed them with me pointing out things he thought the other guys missed, showing how their low price was too good to be true. I eventually signed up with MEI and once all the materials were ready I stayed home and watched the whole job to make sure it was all done right. The guys were quick and efficient and the finished project looks great. I've gotten a lot of compliments and even an offer to buy the house! I'm satisfied and will call them again for future projects. One area of improvement could have been the communication about the status of the project and the speed in wrapping up all the finishing touches. The job was basically done in a week but there were small things that needed to be finished that got dragged out. Some of that was my fault because I'm away quite a bit for work but I think the project management could have been a bit more thorough. I was expecting the project manager to come out and see the job or at least call me to discuss but it was me calling customer service asking about the status of the final details and when they were going to schedule the inspection! It wasn't a huge deal for me since I'm a details person and prefer to be in control anyways. Cindy in customer service did a great job following up on everything and making sure I was taken care of. My roofing project went ok. They sent a large crew and finished in one day. Unfortunately, they spray painted the new roof vents without my knowledge or permission. The spray paint began to peel in less than one year. After many phone calls and many weeks, they eventually did send a guy out to correct the situation.

The actual insulation work was done professionally; the crew had to do a lot of hard work in close spaces. Cleanup was immaculate: we were told they "tried to make the work area cleaner than when they arrived." There was some confusion on the Xcel rebate, but this the new online submission portal at Xcel, that should improve.

We shopped for windows for about 5 months after the home improvement show. We also had a contractor bid for us who we had done business with previously. First of all, the other contractors were all over the board in terms of what they recommended and pricing. After spinning our wheels for a few months, we got a quote from Derrick at MEI. We are in the midst of a full house remodel and got delayed ordering our windows. Very understanding, kept in touch, finally we ordered and they told us it would be about 10 weeks, but it was actually 8. The installers were really first class. Joe and three younger guys came out (his son, nephew and another guy). We had 18 windows in by the end of the day. We have 50 year old red cedar siding and some of the boards break when you just look at them. Not one break or chip in the boards, no dust, no muss, no bother:. Not one chip or scratch in any of the Marvin Fibrex Windows. Great support staff in the office (we had Cindy). One and half days and all the windows were in and everything was perfect. Awesome people!
