We received quotes from 3 different companies to replace our windows with sliding glass doors, and discount windows and doors was by far the least expensive, not only that, but their service was the best I have ever witnessed! We have used contractors for our home as we have been doing renovations for the past year and a half and this company was far and away my favorite. Mark and his father were CLEAN, competent, professional, and did fabulous work. I am not sure what happened with the other reviewers but this company has obviously pivoted to ensure their customers are happy. I could not have asked for better service. My husband is a nuclear engineer and is usually so picky about our contractors work and is also incredibly impressed with mark and his father’s work! Cannot recommend them enough. I am already begging him to come back for more work!!

I am the third generation owner/occupant of my home in Kailua that was bought in the 50s by my grandfather. This home was renovated in 93 and needed replacement windows due to the salt air and wind that took a toll of some of windows that were installed nearly 30 years ago. Discount windows were the company we trusted to complete the job. Nemo who installed our windows was incredibly professional, kind and efficient. From the moment I was contacted to set the install date to the end of the job, he showed professionalism and great craftsmanship. Nemo took the time to check the hardware and measurements and explain the mechanics and warranty of our product. If I need services from discount windows and door I will be asking for Nemo to complete the job.

Very happy with the new windows and the service and install we had from David and Memo. Huge thank you for arranging two install teams headed by Memo and completing the whole install in one day. That makes a big difference when you work for home not to lose too much time to construction. We have a 60+ yo Single wall Hicks home so it was time to do a complete window package for the downstairs and complete the change to all vinyls in the upstairs. The supply chain delays really effected my plans for getting the house painted in the summer as we live in Manoa so winter means no painting. But we are really happy with the windows. The design looks like it is very good at keeping out geckos and other critters. (some of our other mainland vinyl windows aren't very good at this without modification) Glad to buy something that takes Hawaii's particular climate and challenges into consideration. We are West facing and can already tell a temperature difference in the afternoon going to Low E windows. They also installed a new Lanai sliding door and made it fit in the old openings perfectly. No small feat in a home that is not likely square any more. I will only go with custom windows from now on. The owner did the measurements himself and the windows seemed to fit perfectly. This review is for the installation portion only. We are very pleased with the installation of 7 casement and double hung windows that replaced old and broken jalousies. The installation was done by Bobby and Oren in one day. They did an excellent job and cleared away the old windows afterwards. Bobby came back the next day to finish wiping down and cleaning the windows. He also made a special trip to install a bracket (additional support for the window AC unit) and covered the gap between the AC unit and window frame. In addition to quality installation work, we were impressed with the installers’ promptness and excellent communication.

When we were faced with replacing high impact windows on the 39th floor of our condo we talk with several companies and found only 1 company really up for the job. Dave and his team at Discount Windows and Doors did a great job guiding us through the complicated process of understanding they types of windows we could order, the framing options and all of the other considerations for high impact windows on a 39th floor condo. The ordering was done correctly and when the windows arrived on island, Dave and his team put the windows together and then managed the tricky delivery of the windows to our condo. The installation went very smoothly! Dave and his team worked quickly and efficiently while replacing the windows and ensuring that they were perfectly installed. The windows are beautiful and also we can rest easy with the protection the windows provide from the elements. I highly recommend Discount Windows and Doors and Dave's team for excellent, service, support and installation!

Ordered custom awning style windows for a vaulted ceiling and all the bedroom windows. The installer came out and got it all done in two days. He was efficient and cleaned up after himself. Thanks guys, my house looks much better now, and I can vent the hot air out of my bedroom now.

I worked with discount W and D on a previous home i owned in town (pre-covid). This go round, i needed an exterior door replaced along with some old jalousie windows that are broken. Communication was great, email, call, text, all very effective and clear. Estimates and prices were accurate. Hell, even the owner (Dave) came out to my home to do the inspection and measurements! Added bonus in my opinion. As expected, the order took several weeks to come in, but again, not a worry because EVERYTHING takes time these days, especially to the islands. Once the door came in (sooner than expected), I received a call to schedule installation, and within a few days, may door was installed. Now, my installers were excellent. Extremely professional with communication and their work. On time, as they said they would be. And my old wood was rotten and junky. They made the trim and new door look awesome! Thank you!

This is my first experience with DWD. I'm very pleased with the double pane windows with grids which replaced jealousies in my garage. The bottom half is frosted and fixed. The top half is an awning that can open and close. I'm also very pleased with the removal and installation work by Mark Villegas. He more than exceeded my expectations with the quality and detail. He used a tripod mounted laser light to align both separately distance windows. He used 3 separate electric drills with a different bit to expedite the work. All work was meticulously done. I asked if he was available for other work. Unfortunately, he understandably he is booked up and not taking additional work. Mark is very personable and would be a joy to work with again.

Very reasonable price and great service on my sliding lanai door replacement! I was little bit concerned because I am on the fifth floor and wondering about delivery but the guys were very experienced ! Dave responded very fast and solved all small issues we were experiencing during the project and Nemo did a great job on installation ! I had the pleasure of working with Dave from Discount Windows during the winter rain storms we've been getting in Kahaluu. I cannot say enough great things! He came out to fix a leaking window during mid week during a timeslot he had where someone else cancelled and I was so impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and workmanship. He was extremely thorough, taking the time to explain the process and answer any questions I had. He even went above and beyond, re-sealing the two other surrounding windows to ensure they were also water tight. His prices were also incredibly reasonable. Great customer service and detail from Dave and his main installer Nemo. As soon as the job started Dave was able to figure out the best way to install the new windows and frames without damaging the outside stucco on the house. Dave used a technique of installing drywall to ensure the windows fit properly. Afterwards Nemo was able to finish and sand the inside area of the window installation getting it perfectly prepped for final painting. Nemo also worked by himself most of the time and was very efficient. Finally, Dave was able to take care of some rusted flashing on the outside of the house at no cost. Great customer service all the way around.

I got quotes from a number of companies for a large 12' double sliding door. It was more expensive than I had expected, but quotes were fairly similar across companies, and DWD was almost $1000 better than the next best company for the same product. I waited a bit to write a review to see how the workmanship has held up. It does take some time to order and install something like this, but all went very smoothly and efficiently and the installers did a nice job. DWD was always very responsive when I wrote with questions. The new sliding door is great and I have zero complaints. I still need to paint the new trim piece on top (inside is fine, so I keep forgetting about it), and the window is now in need of cleaning. This new door is much nicer and blocks a lot more heat that the old tinted door (50+ years old and in need of replacing). A clean install and nice door. We are pleased. Pictures show after from outside and mid-install from inside (between removal of old and install of new).

Tony Ing came to my condo at Haiku Point in Kaneohe on 2/19/22 to estimate the replacement of my windows and screens in both bedrooms, living room and lanai glass and screen door. I requested pet screen everywhere and was told “no problem”. I went to the showroom to see what the Makai Vinyl windows and doors looked like and was offered several discounts that really helped a lot! No one tried to “upsell” me to something more expensive. They were attentive to my needs and budget. They were also very cognizant of the specs required by our condo association and David Pirog came out to do all the measurements and explain everything about the install Then the supply chain issues hit the whole country. DWD kept me informed on timelines and I was willing to be patient as I had a career where backorders and delays were a regular hassle. Whining and complaining won’t make your delivery come any sooner. Fast forward to mid- September and my glass had arrived! I had asked for a ‘heads up’ so I could prep my place and Tony and Lisa really kept me in the loop. September 29, 2022 was install day and it was seamless! The delivery guys called to say they’d be here at 830 and they were. They were super careful with all my glass and right behind them, the installers, Kainoa and Makana called and said they’d be here at 9. They were. I left them to it because I said I didn’t want to ‘watch the sausage being made’. They called around 4pm and were just packing up. We did a final walk-through and everything was just beautiful and perfect. They did a beautiful job reinstalling my ac units too, and sweeping up. Plus, they were friendly and answered all my questions with no sense of impatience. It was worth the wait. It took me years to finally make the decision to have this work done so the months of waiting because of supply chain issues was really not such a big deal. We are expecting our first baby in December, and we have a neighbor who has been smoking us out with barbecues, so we found it necessary to replace our old jalousie windows to sturdier ones. We ordered our windows in March, and were told they would be finished around July, with the caveat that COVID may affect supply. When we checked in for an update in July, install estimate moved to September. When we checked in September, we were told late December. It’s unfortunate that the supply issue is this bad and we do understand some of this is out of the company’s hands, but it still has been frustrating to get these time estimates constantly moving back. I hope things change, but it’s good to be aware of the possibility of waiting around one year for your windows if you order.

I don't write reviews at all, but I felt the need to do so. I had a pane glass window that was cracked (I presume by window washers). I live on the 6th floor of a high rise and contacted 3 other companies, but no one else said they'd do it. Dave came by and said he did one in our building before so it shouldn't be a problem even though there is no balcony or anything on the other side of the window. The new window took a long time to manufacture, but it was outsourced it and it wasn't their fault. I presume everything is on backorder due to the pandemic. Anyway Dave and one of his guys came in when they said they would and got it done. They were super professional and I know he's done it a thousand times before. All I can say I know this wasn't an easy job, but he made it looks so and didn't have any problems. They were very thorough in their work and even cleaned up after they were done. Totally impressed and would recommend them to anyone.

Nice people but Windows take too long! We had an order before our last order and the installer went on vacation when he was supposed to install our windows and shrugged it off. Then when he didcthe qindows it wasnt a great job. We didnt know better until a Contractor saw it. Sad! I hope they improve their businees integrity!

Excellent service and great products that are far better value than standard lower priced products at the big box building supply stores. The sales, measuring estimate, delivery, and installation help were totally professional, fast, and reliable. The sliding patio glass doors are very solid, tight seal, low heat transfer, and with stainless parts were such an great value upgrade from the previous standard doors that were loose, leaky, and worn rusted rollers that made opening and closing them a chore.

A few years ago I replaced some windows in one bedroom and loved them so much I then replaced all the bedroom windows and now I am finishing up by replacing all my windows and doors. The self cleaning glass is amazing - I don't know why anyone would buy any other window. Unless they like to clean? In addition to getting rid of ugly jalousies that leak and creak, the sliding windows and awnings I now have are easier to operate, block out heat and UV from the afternoon sun, and also block out the very loud voices of neighborhood children when I shut them. I love the difference they have made in my home. The customer service I received was excellent as well.

We want to give a special Mahalo Nui Loa to everyone at Discount Windows and Doors, for helping us remodel our kitchen. Since we live in California, and had to communicate from afar, meeting all the measurements,etc., exact was crucial. From the beginning, we knew we were working with professionals and never doubted all would turn out perfect.Our contractor was most impressed that everything was handled so smoothly and everyone involved asked the right questions so that costly mistakes weren't going to fall on us later. Our kitchen was redone from floor to ceiling, and we have the most gorgeous cabinets ordered through DW&D that arrived just when they said it would! All the horror stories we had heard regarding remodeling never happened to us because of the professionalism of the staff at DW&D! We have a house built in 1911, been in my husband's family for 4 generations. I know we made his ancestors proud that we added such beauty to something that's been in the family so long, and that we took such care in who we chose to help us. We will forever be grateful to DW&D for helping us give this old house a new life, and we enjoy spending more time in this part of our house now....having friends, family, neighbors over for dinners! Both John the salesperson, and Bobby the installer were awesome! I only had a few days in between rentals to install a new vinyl sliding door on the upstairs lanai. They got me a fabulous deal, and all installation was done professionally. Bobby would even text me when he was on his way to measure out the door to make sure everything went smoothly. What I appreciated was rather than install wood trim around the door, he took the extra effort to drive to kaneohe and get the vinyl trim that matched my siding. I'm so impressed that I am getting another quote from them to do two more window- to- sliding door conversions. That's going to add so much value to my oceanfront home! Fabulous kamaʻāina company.
