Consistent reminders via text and email about appointments, easy online ordering for meds, email updates on records and medicine reminders, friendly staff and doctors. The wait time is short from check-in to the minute the tech or DR. comes into the room. Doctors and technicians always take the time to explain the outcome of the checkup and lab work. The lobby is always clean and roomy. The examining rooms are roomy, clean and fresh. I was with East Beach back when they were located near Tropical smoothie on Little Creek Rd, when I moved back in 2020 and found the new location I knew I could go back. Although I have different dogs (sadly) my girls always have a pleasant visit. If you live near 23518 this is the place to take your fur babies, they treat your animal as their own. Thank you.

They got me in the same day for my cat who I was concerned had cancer. The staff and the care was phenomenal. Highly recommend! Very clean beautiful office, friendly clients inside that I chatted with as well. We will definitely be back.

This veterinary clinic is great. They truly love and enjoy seeing your pet and work with you to find a treatment plan for your pet that works and is affordable. We are now taking our 2nd dog here for care. We initially found them when my husband and I had an elderly American Bulldog that was at the end stage of her life. They went above and beyond to help her and help us. They also have a mobile clinic so when the day came that we had to let her go, they came to our home. I wouldn’t trust anyone else at this point with the care of our new dog. I only wish they also took exotic pets, as I have a bunny that I would love to be able to take to them as well.

Dr. Moser and the entire staff I interacted with were caring, helpful, knowledgeable, and determined to find an appointment/diagnosis/treatment for my cat (who is already showing signs of improving, 2 days after his last appointment) the Friday before Christmas. It was a great experience! I felt very informed, always nervous about taking my dog somewhere new! My dog wasn’t used to other dogs being in the waiting room they moved me back to this little side room pretty quickly so he would be calm!

Super friendly, provide above and beyond accommodations specifically with Bastian (service dog) when the lobby gets a bit noisy we are offered a room to wait in so that he isn’t distracted. Greatly appreciated. Best Vet we’ve ever been to and they are right down the street.

My dog has very bad anxiety when at the vet. He was there for annual shots and refused to let any vets come near him…. Everyone at East Beach was so patient and understanding with him until he was able to feel comfortable enough to complete his shots

Picked this vet based on Yelp reviews and so far I'm impressed! The location has plenty of parking, it's a friendly and open space so that if many pets are waiting there are separate areas for owners to sit. This way if your pet is agitated (or someone else's is) you can kind of steer clear if desired. The vet tech was very friendly and seemed to really love seeing each dog I saw her take in. She was also to notice an inconsistency in my prior vetrinary paperwork and suggest a missing vaccination as well as fit in my pup for a nail trimming despite me not scheduling it. The vet is very friendly and frank. I really appreciated him letting me stay in the room for my dogs rabies booster. He also suggested a treatment for my dog I wouldn't have know to ask for (he had bumps I was assuming were going to go away on their own). On top of a great first visit, they also carry a brand I love and offer it cheaper than online. I am happy to have a good vet nearby.

I used to be a client of a different, larger chain of veterinarians and at some point, decided I needed a "local" option. Ever since East Beach Vet opened up a few years ago, they have been my sole provider of veterinary care for my cats. The staff is truly caring, kind, and shows a genuine interest in your pets and their health. The physicians have always discussed health matters in a way that has made me feel that they are holistically considering a pet's unique situation, therapeutic outcomes, and the "pet parent" relationship people form with their companion animals. I am glad they have expanded and built their own location, and as long as they continue to practice, I intend for them to be my "forever home" for vet services. Highly recommend this team!

Dr. Barker and the lovely tech who helped us (I am terrible with names!), were amazing! Explained everything they were going to do prior and made the process easy and comfortable for my pup. The front desk staff was also very friendly and helpful (like they always are🙂) ! Chewie has been seen here for years and even during the difficult times, he has always been scheduled for an appointment within a reasonable/realistic amount of time! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean. I don’t spend much time in the waiting room. When my previous pet passed away I got a hand written condolence card in the mail signed by the whole staff which I thought was very kind. I would definitely recommend this vet and I will go there for all my pets needs when I am in the area.

I have been coming here for about 15 years with my dachshunds, Daisy, and Cricket. We have added Hottie to our pack in the last 9 or 10 years. I highly recommend them, although they recently changed hands. Dr. Alexander was what brought me in with Cricket my oldest weanie. I felt she did a miracle with her and now she is 17 years old. Their newest vet who took over management of the practice is wonderful as well, Dr. Valentine she spent time with Hottie getting to know her and I. I was impressed and felt so capable after leaving the clinic. As a pet owner I have come to know despite my puppy love that if you are not prepared to spend money on your pets (three is to many) you should not have them. You can cut corners by going to the SPCA but as I have found during the pandemic this service may not be available and then they have to go to the ER and you might not even get in there,(more money). Hoping the good work will keep up with Dr. Valentine and the other vets that are on staff. Thanks to all who are on staff and have continued with this practice and Best wishes to Dr. Bonnie Alexander in her retirement you certainly deserve it! Elizabeth Kirchheimer

First, let me begin by saying that we have been patrons for 5+yrs , and we have referred other family members and friends to this practice. First, the pros: 1) customer service is THE BEST. Everyone from the front office, to technicians, to the doctors are wonderful. They are polite, accurate, and go the extra mile each and every time. They love our dogs and their dedication to the field is above and beyond. 2) location is fantastic. The office is open and airy with lots of room. 3) Time spent during the appointment is so appreciated. I do not feel rushed as my questions are answered, information and opinions are shared, and the dogs get a thorough exam. I have a Weimaraner who is a little timid so it takes time for her to relax - and she is never hurried. Now to the cons.. 1) price… I am a fair believer in getting what you pay for but taking my two dogs in for their annuals ended up being close to $900. The vaccinations have doubled to $60 a piece. A senior panel blood work was quite high and then I realized that it didn’t include fecal testing - another $30 a piece. Now, I understand that prices have risen, which is fair, but there has to be some kind of middle ground. $900 is a mortgage pmt for some..which leads to #2. 2) this practice accepts Care Credit, which is appreciated. There was no way we would be able to drop $900 without it. HOWEVER, Care Credit offers multiple payment plans - zero interest for up to 18 months on certain balances (one of the reasons we use them), but this practice WILL NOT allow anything more than 6 mos. I understand that it costs the practice some money to allow longer financing but it is an option available from the card. We are repeat customers. And we dropped $900 on just the yearly. We are seen more often than just once a year — My daughter was reduced to tears. Times are hard, all around, for us patrons as well. I am sorry to say that even though we love this practice, I am going to have to re-evaluate the pricing and charge practices, so as to align with my budget. My dogs are important but so is my family’s survival.

Dr. Steven Moser, and the entire staff there, was amazing with Wendel. They explained everything in detail to me and even presented new options for heartworm prevention. They recommended for him to get the ProHeart 12 (moxidectin) shot, which is what he got. It's just one shot a year to prevent heartworms which is awesome! They thoroughly checked him out (tested his blood, pee, and poo) and was so gentle and kind to him. I appreciate that. This review is long overdue and for that, I apologize. Almost a year and a half ago, I brought my 5 year old cat Jigs in for respiratory distress. Dr. Alexander’s amazing staff immediately took us to a quiet area away from the chaos of late afternoon patient pick-up. Dr. Alexander saw us right away. Unfortunately it was determined Jigs had congestive heart failure and we made the decision to end his suffering. My husband and I held Jigs while Dr. Alexander ushered him to peace. When he was gone, I buried my face in my husband’s chest and cried uncontrollably. I could hear Dr. Alexander crying along with me. Being a vet has got to be incredibly difficult. I will never forget the compassion she showed. She is an amazing clinician and an extraordinary human being. Her staff shares that compassion. I’m sorry I haven’t thanked you sooner, Dr. Alexander. We will never forget you.

This vet is AMAZING!! My kitty Leo hates leaving the house, his carrier, the car, all of it. And so by the time we get to the vet’s office, he’s pretty worked up and nervous! But Dr. Oberlander is so sweet and takes such amazing care of Leo every time we come in! She’s been so helpful with his weight loss, and even sent me home with pages of recommendations for feeders she uses with her own kitties! The entire staff is so sweet and professional too - a lot of the times I’ve called, Alex is the one who answers and that girl rocks! But so does everyone else on staff! We love East Beach Vet, and will recommend them to every pet owner we know! PS: They had some notices inside in regards to mistreatment of the staff by rude people who are mad that they can’t get a last minute appointment squeezed in when the vet is fully booked - that’s on YOU! The staff is doing their very best to help as many clients as they can, but if you waited too long to make an appointment, you have no right to verbally abuse anyone for your own mistake. Rant over!

I have had nothing but wonderful service at this vet. My dog is very nervous and scared of everyone and everything. I unfortunately can’t remember the names of the 2 wonderful techs who helped me and my dog Winnie, but they were so so amazing. They were very accommodating for her, they did absolutely everything they could to keep her calm and as relaxed as possible; they went at her pace and because of their patience and compassion, Winnie had a successful vet visit. Today 4/7/21 was our first time at this vet. I am so pleased with how everyone handled my fur baby. Absolutely a great place to take your pets. Highly recommended. The place is super clean and everyone uses protocols to protect us. Front desk ladies were smiling and very welcoming. Jessica was our first nurse to help with questions etc and was so nice. We have been visiting East Beach Vet for a few years. We had just taken our oldest lab, Admiral, to an emergency clinic the night before. After some testing at said emergency clinic we left with the news that he must have had a tumor on his brain and wouldn’t have much longer to live. The news was unsettling and forced us to seek a second opinion after he developed more uncharacteristic symptoms over night. We called East Beach Vet (in a panic) and they took us in first thing the next morning. Expecting the worst, Dr. O came back with some better and solution based news. He didn’t have a tumor on his brain, he was diabetic. The way Dr. O kept us calm, but also empathetic for all of emotions in the waiting room, has kept us loyal to this vet clinic. The front desk always calls us to check-in after each visit. They have a great, and organized, online booking system with reminders. They also understand and encourage being cost effective with your pets. Admiral, now pushing 16, is living his best golden years and has introduced his new, little brother Skipper to the East Beach team. Skipper has learned to flirt with every vet tech, doctor and assistant in the office and they always give him praise and adoration. We will continue to see them until distance pulls us in another direction. Thank you East Beach, and thank you Dr. O. - we are forever grateful!

Everyone at East Beach Vet was absolutely wonderful. We just moved to the area and I was worried about finding a clinic as fantastic as our last- Well thank goodness we don't need to look any further! They were able to fit us in within a few days, get my dog up to date on all vaccinations and fill her the medication right there! I'm a super friendly person but my tiny hairless rescue dog has fearful aggression issues, so going to the vet is a little traumatic for me. Alex was great she was very caring and got us in ASAP. Honestly everyone we delt with really cared and did everything to help us find some comfort in our dogs injuries. Suggested sedation to check the extent of injuries and ear infection which was best for our Gizzy given his condition at the time which shows they don’t want to cause anymore pain or discomfort than what your pet is already experiencing. Will be returning for sure and will be our vet as long as they are around. Update: 2 weeks later I am still so grateful for them. From calling to just checking in our fur babies to immediately addressing an infection forming on a wound we noticed. I think our boys have new best friends there.

Excellent! Backstory, our dog ate a small box of raisins, went to the emergency vet, vomited up 22 of them and we needed to have bloodwork done within 48 hours to check her kidneys for any potential kidney failure. We called our now FORMER Vet at 8am, were told the Vet isn’t in until 9am they just wrote a note down for them. We gave them a few hours, called back and was told the note was on the desk and they’re seeing patients so “we’ll see”. Then nothing! (Their Vet did not call back until 6:30 PM that night!!) I was not going to wait ALL day for a response when we have a 48 hour window to possibly end up needing IV treatment for kidney failure SO… I called East Beach Vet, they IMMEDIATELY collected the information for the emergency vet (which ours never asked for) and our current Vet for our dog’s records. Within LESS THAN A HALF AN HOUR they had collected the emergency papers, vet record and called us with an appointment for the next day! A dog that they had never seen before and had every reason to turn away if they wanted to. Forward to the appointment, probably the BEST Vet experience I have had in the 6 years of having my adopted crazy dog-child who does NOT love the Vet, strangers or other dogs. They actually allowed us inside with her. The techs and the Vet were very nice! Our tech even “snuck” us out of the back door so our dog did not run into the one in the waiting room! They are now our NEW Vet and we look forward to future visits with them. P.S. our dogs kidneys were perfectly fine, thankfully!

I was unable to attend my kittens’ appointments due to having COVID but my mother was allowed to bring them in for me. The doctor and tech both talked to me on the phone and were so helpful. I have NEVER had a bad experience at EBVC. My babies are always treated like babies, and they love it there too. We had several bad experiences at my last vet so my Reagan was a little unsure of the vets office, but everyone here has helped turn that around for him again and he feels comfortable and even happy to walk in. However, my Roxy is where they have really made a world of difference! She came to me pretty scared of people, she can only be held a certain way because other ways hurt or scared her, no one else was willing to hear that from me. Not only do they listen but they absolutely baby and adore her and she walks in and walks the halls like she’s the belle of the ball now. I cannot thank them enough! They are always friendly, respectful, helpful, and clean. At my latest visit I read that they are having a problem with mistreatment from customers. I am in human healthcare and this is a rampant problem but, it makes me so sad and angry that our babies’ caretakers are going through this! The doctors, techs, front house staff, EVERYONE are so so wonderful and deserve the best!! I highly recommend them, and I’m a crazy dog mom, so my praise with my babies is not as easy as it sounds. My Oreo has a tumor in her back end. We went to Urgent care first over the weekend before because it was inflamed. Amy from East Beach called everyday after to not only check on Oreo but me too! My Oreo is a senior and quality is the most important to me. On our appt with East beach everyone was kind and welcoming. East beach is absolutely awesome. My sweet baby daisy had the worst ear infection. It was horrible, and they squeezed me in and gave her amazing care. All of the staff is very compassionate. It was Daisy’s first time there and she was scared, but they made sure she was comfortable. Her ear issue is completely resolved after 10 days. I am so thankful. Plus the price was extremely reasonable. We will be coming back ! I highly recommend.

I moved to Ocean View from Newport News and had yet to relocate to a closer vet for my 12 year old Boston Terrier, Zoey. When she pulled a muscle on a Sunday night, I called East Beach for an emergency appointment on Monday and they were able to squeeze me in that day, which I know and understand is rare right now. I told them I was also looking to establish a new vet closer to my new home so when I showed up for the emergency appointment, they had already reached out to my prior vet's office and had all of Zoey's information on hand. They were super friendly, kind, and efficient. Bonus, the doctor's room was covered in Boston Terrier art! Zoey and I knew we had found the right place! Dr. Alexander was thorough and informative and I left the office with Zoey's issue addressed and a plan for regular care. The cost was very reasonable too. I would highly recommend East Beach Vet!

I was pleasantly surprised when I took in my almost domesticated feral cat this week. They were timely, kind and very understanding. The office is exceptionally clean and the staff was very compassionate. I really like the setup of the exam rooms and the vet spent a good deal of time with me.

I have been bringing my Lab, Trixie, here for many, many years. I had originally went to a different vet in Bayview. Trixie was having some extreme health issues, and the old vet just was putting it all off on Arthritis, or not even really listening to what our concerns were, because that day he saw her happened to be a good day. She kept deteriorating, so we took her into East Beach for a second opinion. They kept her all day that day to figure out the issue. Ultimately she was put on steroids and it changed her life. I m not made of $$, but I just make sure to tell them how much I ve got when I go in that day, so there is never any surprises. You can always make another appointment.. They love animals at East Beach and sincerely want them to live long, happy lives.

We tried 4 other vets before settling here. They're absolutely amazing and you can tell they really love and care for you and your pets.I'm horrible with names, but honestly - I've never had a bad experience! We recently moved from Norfolk to Suffolk so we're 45 minutes away now with a new vet literally 2 minutes down the road from us - but we continue to drive out there because they know all 4 of our dogs by name, they treat us like family, and they love and can handle Reaper, our oldest pitbull with some aggression issues. They got her to go from snarling and growling to wagging and giving kisses to the staff there. We will continue to bring all our babies here - even if it's a bit more of a drive - because we know it's worth it!

I am visiting from Richmond and was anxious to bring my new rescue dog on her first vet trip for an ear infection. she was abused and is very skittish and scared of strangers, loud noises, and new places. I was thankful to be worked in the next morning and the staff was very gentle and understanding of her fears. they let her wait in the car where she feels safe and let me carry her in through a side door to avoid the waiting room which would have thrown her into a total panic before she even got back to the exam room. I whisked her back into the car before coming back in to pay. minimizing her time in there helped her SO much. she did way better than I ever expected because of how gentle, calm, and sweet Dr. Drinkwater and her assistant were. Her assistant was very thoughtful and opened the drawers in the exam room very slowly so she wouldn't scare her. They sat on the floor with her and made slow movements. She did really good and let them clean her ears without flipping out. She liked them because she could sense their calm and compassionate nature. I was so proud and relieved that her first vet experience was a positive one and not traumatizing. I am also thankful there was coffee in the waiting room! I needed that so bad. the sweet vet assistant brought my coffee back to the exam room while I went outside to carry my dog in. very thoughtful, kind, and professional. thank you so much East Beach Vet !!

Where to begin. My relationship with East Beach started with my late cat, Anakin. Dr. Moser went above and beyond when we came in. He got down on the floor with him, and was so kind and caring. With all the devastating news I received that day, the way he was with my sweet boy meant everything to me. Since Anakin has passed, I have brought my new baby in. He has seen Hannah, and because of my anxiety over my previous cat, I feel so at ease with him taking are of Hannah. I had an emergency happen, and called and left a message before they were open. The staff called me before they were open (I was so distressed I don’t know how Amy knew it was me) and managed to get me in. I had to bring my baby back the next day and a picture was sent to me with an update. I don’t have human babies, but my Hannah is my baby. Dr. Moser took care of Hannah, as well as Rachel and LaTosha. The empathy they give to me, and the love they have for my cat means the world to me. I won’t trust any other vet in the care of my babies. I’m so glad I found East Beach Vet. I don’t really write reviews, but I just love them. If you want to switch vets, or are looking for a new vet, I recommend East Beach.

I've had to come twice within 2 months for my cat nugget. Once for an abscess and then for a knee injury. Both times my cat had to be seen last min and I was able to take nugget there for his pop up issues. I am fortunate that they helped me get him seen for both pretty quickly. My second appt was very fast (about 15 mins) and I recieved medication right away too. I don't trust anyone with my animals except East Beach Veterinary Care.

Second time visiting here. I called because my cat, Squiggy, had stopped eating. He is elderly and I had resigned myself that...this was it. They got me in quickly, checked him out, did blood work, gave him meds/fluids and within 12/24 hrs my boy was back to his old self again. They obviously care about their patients ( I got a phone call from one of the vets two days later checking up on him), calmed my fears and even though I have read complaints about their fees, I want to know where YOU as a human can go, get a last minute doctor appointment, get full exam, full blood work, IM Fluids, and antibiotics and office fees for what I paid (oh and the blood work came back while I was waiting). By far this is the best veterinarian i have ever come across in the Hampton Roads area. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I have four dogs: a mutt, a hound, a pittbull, and a maltipoo. All are treated as if they were members of the family. My Pitt has some issues due to his previous owners and his time spent in a shelter and the staff took expert care of him and was able to do a full exam with shots! No one else had been able to do that. They are also very well priced for the level of service they provide. I can safetly say this will be my vet for life.

This vet office is hit or miss. Doctors are tentative, but the front desk seems to forget that they are in a service business and they're behavior can push people to go elsewhere. For example: A customer should not have to stand there and wait for you to finish typing on your computer before you even acknowledge their presence. Understand that people are taking time from their jobs that pay for your services so be mindful of their time and don't make them wait.

The staff is always so friendly and every health issue I've walked in with for my cat and dog, they've solved. I was so nervous about my older Boston Terriers surgery but Dr. Moser did amazing! I trust these guys and I highly recommend them!

All the vets and vet techs are fabulous with my dogs! Their facility is clean and nice looking, but my only complaints are that they don't have any leash hooks up at the counter to hold my dogs leash when I'm trying to juggle with payments and paperwork, and their services can get a little pricey. For basic vet care (like yearly checkups), they are in line with other clinics but if you need specialty care (like x-rays, dental, etc.) they tend to be on the more expensive end. Otherwise, they are a great clinic and I will continue to use them for basic care for my babies 😊
