Very impressed with this office and their staff. Care Animal Hospital was able to get us in quickly (next day) for an appt for our hamster. Dr Rubinstein was so great and did a very thorough exam and was able to properly identify some issues and recommend a treatment plan. The vet techs also did a great job doing a nail trim on her too. The office was clean and prices were reasonable. We will definitely use this office again.

We adopted a problem-child bearded dragon 8 months ago, and since then Dr. Rubinstein here has saved his life at least once. He is delightful to work with, and he obviously knows these animals inside-and-out; no amount of Googling and herp forum posting compared to one consultation with him, and we were never upsold on services or tests. He made sure we knew our options and communicated how practically helpful any particular test would be. Also, the front desk has always been especially responsive on the phone, and welcoming when we come in! Your animal is safe here - exotic or otherwise.

These guys have been taking care of my dog Charlie for the past 3 years, and every visit has been truly compassionate. They did everything they could to make sure Charlie got the best care possible. Unfortunately, Charlie was 15 years old when his body shut down, and I had to euthanize him. This team helped to make the experience as humane as possible. I appreciate all they did. I just wish they had a way to help me stop crying. I miss my boy.

Always a great experience! The ample staff and vets are very thorough, taking the time to listen and address concerns about your pet. Animal people (vet and techs) are great with the animals and their owners. The office staff are great with the owners and their wallets. My Dog had receive the best possible care at Care Animal Hospital! We had taken him to Care from day 1. They are compassionate and kind not just to my dog, but to me too. He lived to be almost 19 years old. While all of the staff is wonderful, Dr. Chelsea Northam was a Godsend. As issues popped up in his later years, she was an out of the box thinker, always available for questions and her solutions not only worked, but I attributed to his long life. I totally recommend Care Animal Hospital!

Recently switched to Care Animal hospital... was super impressed with the politeness of the youngman who came to the car. (Jeremy) as much as I would prefer to accompany my pets in for their appointment, I understand and appreciate how Jeremy acted truly caring with my babies!! The Dr communicated details well, & offered over the counter solutions, which I appreciate. Vet care can be expensive, but I've found sometimes you get what you pay for!! That's why we switched! Would recommend to others!!

Had a small little emergency with my 2 yr old golden and my current vet couldn't take him in for at least a week. I did some research and found Care Animal Hospital, called to see if they could see him and like magic they fit him in and took the best care of him as well. Needless to say by the end of my entire experience between the great customer service and wonderful care they provided for my sweet boy, they now my new vet! Really enjoy it here!! It feels like a vet should feel, my dog is comfortable going here and they are so amazing at answering questions and explaining all the needed services. You leave feeling great about each visit instead of leaving like you paid a small fortune for unnecessary things. Highly recommend this place!

Very clean and welcoming environment. Front staff was pleasant and waiting room was great- had puzzles to keep my 3 year old busy, and offered coffee and water. Also large space to keep your pet away from others. Dr. Rubinstein was great with my pet, very knowledgeable, and explained everything I needed to know. I did not feel rushed which is always a plus. I can’t even say enough about how impressed I am with this practice after only one visit. From the front desk, to the nurses, to Dr. Kane, the amount of organization, knowledge and Professionalism, cannot be matched. I have been in the Veterinary field since I was 11 as a volunteer, and moved up through the years to eventually run day to day at a large specialty hospital in the ICU; my standards for any general practice facility are high. This practice exceeded all of my expectations and met my standards with flying colors. I will not be taking my pets anywhere but to see Dr. Kane for general care moving forward. I would trust his practice to even run anesthesia if needed for my pets just based off of our conversation. They were affordable, compassionate and never made me feel uncomfortable. In our family our dogs are family, and I expect only the best, this place I trust will give them that. 10/10.

Our Molly Louise was seen for her annual visit and some vaccines. Check in with Kelsey was a breeze. Tech Aly was quick to get us into the room. Molly gets nervous every time she visits, and once again, Aly quickly won her over with peanut butter! Dr. Brunson examined her and then came right in to tell us how our girl is doing. Dr. Jon Rubinstein was amazing; we have a cockatiel that had damaged its wings, and I'm really glad he was in, as they saw him immediately, even though it was their lunch break. It's hard to find a vet that knows exotics, and I'm glad we live nearby.

Our sweet guinea pig developed a growth on his back leg. It broke through the skin and was very bloody and awful looking. Dr. Sparks saw him the same day we called and she was so kind and gentle with our guinea pig. She gave us medicine and scheduled to remove the tumor a few days later. He came out of surgery groggy and didn't seem to be doing well, until he perked up 3 days later. He's more like his old self than he's been in such a long time. I'm very grateful for the kindness and professionalism of Care Animal Hospital and Dr. Sparks in particular. I highly recommend them for small pets!

I was nervous booking a vet for the first time over an hr away from home. I have two American minipigs and when I got them, I could see one of three vets within 1/2 hr of my home. Those vets are no more. So i was willing to make the drive. If you know pigs, they are always frightened, are change (or new experience) averse and very dense. My 71 lb baby with 3” legs must be lifted, in a crate, onto the back seat of a truck. When she arrives at our destination, her crate must be lowered to the ground. You cant open the crate; the possibility of a terrified animal fleeing for her life from the strangers surrounding her is high. To make matters worse, my daughter got sick with covid four days prior, so I had no help once I arrived and I didnt even know if I could keep my appt. Well, I was given the choice of rescheduling or wearing a mask and having curbside service. I wanted the curbside service. The staff gently lowered her crate onto a cart and called me after her examination. Her gait was evaluated, her belly was checked (rash) and her hooves were trimmed WITHOUT ANESTHESIA. I had brought her favorite treat (unsalted peanuts) and the staff said that was all it took to gain her compliance. She was wheeled back, deposited into the back seat, and was just as happy and trauma free as could be. Dr. Shedden thoroughly explained the results of her exam and recommendations and even commented that, if medication didnt improve the gait issue, she would attempt an xray at a later date without anesthesia! (No guarantee on that). The staff said my pig was very calm and compliant. If you know pigs, that is huge! Being calm and gentle enough to gain a pigs confidence immediately is the greatest compliment you can give a vet and their staff. So I am sold, and place my complete trust in Dr. Shedden. I highly recommend this clinic, especially for minipigs since there dont seem to be very many of them. You wont be disappointed.

We went here to get help with our cat Sneaky who was not acting right at home anymore. He was diagnosed with Leukemia that same day. The team were very kind and caring. They weren't ones to sugar coat the truth which helped a lot. We went with euthanasia today, and the entire process was well explained, there was a lot of respect and care from the vet and vet tech (?) were super understanding, sympathetic and allowed us to have a free mold with his paw prints on it, and a bit of his fur upon request. They are very efficient, understanding and respectful! They were average priced, but fair I'd say. You are given updates as they exam your pets and are given unbiased opinions and potential paths that you could take for them. My fiance and I want to thank the team of Care Animal Hospital for all that you've done for us in the past 2 days. You helped this process immensely, and it wouldn't have been nearly as easy without you. Thank you for giving our baby boy a peaceful rest, and giving us time to grieve with him in private before we left.

These people really care about our pets. I have a rescue Staffordshire Terrier that's very protective of me and acts quite aggressive when anyone gets within about 8ft of us. Taking her to the vet is never easy to say the least. Christmas Eve she was given a ham bone (I KNEW better!) that I supervised her chewing the meat off. I took it away before she started breaking the bone (I thought) however, I missed her swallowing a rather sharp bone fragment. This became lodged in her esophagus, causing her to vomit everything immediately after eating. Not wanting to take a chance I was at their offices when they opened Monday morning and after a brief phone call once they opened to make them aware of the situation and let them know I was outside they told me to come on in and get signed in and they would make sure Ladybug was seen. They worked her in, handled sedating her quickly and as humanely as possible considering a 60 lb hell hound was actively trying to eat us all. Within an hour I received a phone call from Dr. Courtney with the options for treatment. I was picking a very sleepy Ladybug up and taking her home by 1:30. Her prescriptions and instructions ready to go, Dr. Courtney shared her findings and instructed me on her aftercare and what to watch for, etc. The next day, they even called to check on Bug and make sure she was showing signs of improvement and not declining. Ladybug is on the mend thanks to the dedication of the staff at Care Animal Hospital. I couldn't be more thankful for the level of care and compassion they provide. I would definitely recommend Dr. Courtney and Care Animal Hospital.

I have visited nearly every exotic animal veterinarian within a 50 mile radius of my home and have found nearly all of them to be dismissive and uncaring toward my pets just because they are not conventional pets such as dogs or cats. Other exotic veterinarians are almost always booked full and unwilling to see pets on short notice without charging an arm and a leg. Dr. Rubinstein is the first exotic veterinarian that I have had the pleasure of meeting that has taken the time to get to know me and my pets and explains anything he observes and does. He is kind, caring, and punctual and treats me and my pets with respect always. He does many things free of charge, which means so much to me as a current college student. I will take all of my exotic pets to Care in the future, I appreciate all of the work the technicians and Dr. Rubinstein do for my pets!

This place is amazing. It felt like they actually cared about my pets vs other vets I’ve been to. I have a Great Dane and it’s hard to find a quality vet that will know what they are talking about with my boys breed. This place is awesome. It felt like they genuinely cared about how my dog was feeling. He wasn’t in the best mood when I brought him in (he’s not mean at all). But they handled him in the best way possible. They literally told me that he seemed “nervous” so they didn’t want to do too much at once for him. I absolutely love that about this vet. Also I’ve never had a vet call after every appointment to check on my animals. That really stood out to me. This vet was more pricey that any I have been to but definitely worth it. I’ll 100 percent always recommend.

I'm a volunteer Wildlife Rehabilitator with FWC and I had an opossum who was very sick and I didn't know if she would have to be euthanized. I've dealt with Dr. Rubinstein with other wildlife in the past and he's always treated the animals very well. Today, his performance was exceptional. Originally, I was supposed to drop off the animal due to there were no open appointments. I met with his Vet Tech, explained the situation because Dr. Rubinstein was busy with other clients at the time. While speaking to the Vet Tech, Dr. Rubinstein approached me, gave me the opportunity to explain the situation with the opossum, then allowed me to stay with the animal as I was escorted to a treatment room by his Vet Tech. Dr. Rubinstein and his Vet Tech were supportive, empathetic to my needs, and most of all, after completion of the exam, gave me a sense of hope and the opossum a fighting chance of survival. I had been caring for her since she'd been struck by a car and was blind. I just wanted to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Rubinstein and his Vet Tech for outstanding service. Both individuals exemplified professionalism, but more importantly, human compassion. Thank you

Since moving to Florida, we have had a terrible time finding a vet we liked. Its not that we were picky or anything else but our Belgain Malinois needed a vet experience that went above and beyond being a difficult breed. As soon as we were in our waiting room, an employee, Ally, came in, introduced herself to us and Nike (our dog) and not only did she understand Nike's initial concerns of meeting a new person but she knew exactly how to act and how to win her over. It was no different when the Doctor arrived either, he was professional yet caring and got right to business when it was time to examine Nike. Also, they allowed for me to help hold her which I'm sure was of some comfort for Nike. It was a wonderful experience and we won't be taking our dog anywhere! 10/10!!! I'm not sure if its possible but I would recommend asking for Ally and Dr. Rubinstein! They care for every animal there and it shows!

I had a problem with another vet so took my Daughters Kitty here. They listened to my concerns, showed they cared and assured me that they would take good care of her cat. They were so nice, even came out to my car and offered me water. I really felt they cared. Care Animal Hospital is Covid careful. They are obligated to ask you to wear a mask. I did see staff in a mask. The staff is careful, compassionate, gentle, open, transparent and open about billing. I used to love Care Animal Hospital and it still is good, great facility and usually friendly staff. However, they have raised the prices far too high ($328 for annual exam and shots on my 32lb. dog today) and I absolutely hate the new COVID policy of treating my dogs while I have to wait in my car in the parking lot. Going to the vet is a stressful process for my dogs and I like to be there with them for comfort. Hopefully, Care Animal Hospital returns to normal in office visits and lowers their prices. We’re moving out of the area and will be changing vets but I’m leaving this review for pet parents that are considering this vet.

We were looking for a new vet for our 4yr old 130 pound Rottweiler when he got an ear infection we found Care Animal Hospital, Dr. Rubenstein is wonderful with Bandit. He really cares, He listens to our concerns and helps us to help him. he and his staff are just wonderful from the time we call and check in and they come and get him and bring him back they are just great with our boy. they even call to check in on him after his visits. We love Care! We have been going there for almost 10 years now, since we first adopted our “firstborn” pup. I have done a lot of fostering and lots of adopting of new fur babies since then, and they have treated every single one with such a stellar level of care. I have unfortunately lost 3 fur babies over the years and they were incredibly sympathetic, caring and helpful during those tough times. The entire staff, from front desk, to techs, to the doctors are extremely friendly, sincere and caring always and are great with checking to see how pets are doing after visits. We really love Dr. Courtney, she’s amazing!! They recently remodeled the office and it’s so nice. I recommend this clinic to people every chance I get!

4 pm appointment, arrive for check in st 3:45, my pet wasn't picked up until 4:15, I asked for a beak and nail trim when making my appointment, once I arrived they said that the Dr. wants to do all beak trims and he wasn't there so they could only do the nail trim or I could bring my pet back to do both when the Dr. was there. Just wish they would have scheduled me for when the Dr. was there so I didn't have to shuffle my bird back, it's stressful for him. Not to mention there's an office visit fee each time. 🤦‍♀️ all in all the nail trim was beautiful. But I need to bring him back again for the beak trim.

We just have to share our wonderful experiences at Care Animal Hospital! Our first experience is because our cat had an ear infection and it needed to be tended to quickly. We called and got right in within 2 hours. Just for that reason alone, I was astonished as they got us in so quickly! Every single person there, honestly, was very friendly and professional from the front desk, to the techs, to the Dr's. but still down to earth and approachable, took the time needed to assess the situation, and to explain to us in an understandable way what was going on. We recently had to take her back, because of tummy troubles, and she was treated with love and care. We had to take her back the next day for observation, but felt she was in good hands and would be well taken care of. And, she was!! She was not stressed out, looked at ease, but was ready to go home when we picked her up!! (Her story may be a little different.....ha! ha!) but that was our experience.!! I highly recommend them, all of them, but definitely appreciate Dr. Stephanie's care and concern for our 13 year old little baby girl. An absolutely outstanding group of people!

This hospital has been around a long time, it’s actually right by my house. I took all 3 of my rabbits in to be seen for a check up and the vet actually called to go over every detail for each one or them. Meatball ended up needing a surgery for his teeth and they were able to get him in really soon. For exotics the pricing was way less than I anticipated and the care is top notch! They even let him stay the nite prior because of my work schedule. I always refer clients with rabbits over this way due to the care I was shown. Thank you!

I went in for the first time today. I needed a cone for my dog who was fixed and sent home without a cone (by a different vet). I had been to a couple other offices who turned me away because my dog was not their client (I was happily willing to pay for it). We love every single staff member that we have come in contact with at Care Animal Hospital. They know my dog's name and greet him every time we walk in the door. When we had our dog fixed, they were so caring and gentle with him. They called to keep us informed every step of the way. We've been going to them for over a year now and are very happy. We are new to Florida and needed a good vet; we chose Care based on the recommendation of Urgent Vet as well as great on-line reviews. Our 11 year old cat needed a follow-up visit after emergency surgery as well as a new diet for urinary stone issues. - Staff was responsive and kind when we called and it was very easy to get an appointment; - The appointment was for 11:00 am and the tech came to the car at 11:03 am. The entire visit was no more than 45 minutes. - They were very thorough with background information even calling the emergency clinic where Gracie had her operation to request additional information; - Due to Covid, we had to wait in the car during the examination but were brought bottled water to help us stay hydrated; - The the doctor was unrushed and thorough; she answered all our questions; - We were given two different foods to try and told to bring back anything Gracie didn't like and we would get a credit. - They followed up the next day to check on Gracie. What more can you ask? They were wonderful

Prices are reasonable, and there is a feeding zoo out back with goats, pigs, etc...and a bird area as well. You can get a bag of food from the desk inside. Best vet I've ever been too, and I've had dogs and cats all my 38 years of life! Wonderful place. Also when I had to put down my cat, they were very compassionate, and explained all my options, and even gave her back to me in a "kitty-coffin" and gave their condolences. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

We've used Care for our pets for many years and the doctors and staff are always amazing however this time, supposedly due to COVID, they park you outside and someone comes to get your animal and bring it in, then the consultation and everything is over the phone. Luckily my dogs issue wasn't severe but if it was, I wouldn't just want someone to take him by himself in this scary place to get poked and prodded. They may want to rethink this policy, at least for people who aren't comfortable with it because I'm guessing there's many people who may prefer the current routine.

They are kind, friendly, and prompt during every point of contact; from calling to make an appointment and waiting in the lobby, to consulting with the vet and checking out, their team does a phenomenal job of ensuring that all of your needs are not only met, but exceeded! Their cost is fair and they don't try to oversell you on unnecessary services, they will advise you and inform you that the decision is completely up to you rather than trying to persuade you. Dr. Rubenstein is the best vet I have encountered since moving to Florida three years ago. We started taking our two beagles to see him at Four Paws Vet Hospital and when he moved to Care Animal Hospital, we followed in suit, even though it is a little farther of a drive for us. Extremely knowledgeable and caring, both for your pet and your pocket. The reason I am only giving four stars is because I believe the front staff could be a little more professional and not eat snacks while checking in clients. They could also do a better job reading the charts when calling for patients in the waiting room. Once you are in a room, however, the care taken is top notch.

I rescued a weimaraner that was neglected and very sick. Poor girl could barely walk and was practically blind. I took her to Care Animal Hospital and was seen by Dr. Shedden. Avon was diagnosed with diabetes and her eye was so bad that it may need to be surgically removed. Dr. Shedden immediately gave her all sorts of antibiotics and insulin. I was new at this thus didn't kmow much about diabetes. I would call Dr. Shedden frequently with questions and she would reply immediately and addressed all my concerns. Dr. Shedden is very kind and cares for her animals. I've never met a vet with such love and kindness. We, and Avon are very grateful to her. Avon has improved tremendously. Her eye has healed, she's is happy and playful. Thank you Dr. Shedden for saving Avon. ❤ P.s. wonderful staff.

After moving to Florida 4 years ago, I had to find a vet that specializes in guinea pigs. The original place I found was a disappointment because each time I took my pig in for an annual check up, I was always told the same thing, "he is in good health but he is old". Was frustrating to hear, (because I am aware of the life span of a guinea pig), but as long as my little one was ok, I dealt with the negative attitude. Well, recently, my pig developed a cyst on his stomach and chewed into it. I called my vet to ask how I can stop the bleeding and they said the doctor would call me back. Needless to say, 2 weeks later, I'm still waiting on that call!! However, being that I couldn't wait and had to get the bleeding under control, I called around and was over joyed to find out that Care Animal hospital specialized in exotic / pocket pets! Not only did they schedule for me to come in right away, but they were able to stop his bleeding, offered some long term options in caring for his wounds, and provided antibiotics that will aid in his recovery. I am happy to report, my pig is doing amazing! His wound has healed and he is back to his normal happy self. I normally do not write reviews but felt compelled to do so because of the excellent service I received at this animal hospital. I do suggest that anyone in need of a vet who specializes on exotics / small pocket pets / guinea pigs, to come to this office!

I travel over 30 minutes to take my dog to Care Animal Hospital. We have a 11.5 year old yellow lab that has had multiple health problems over the years. The vets at Care are incredible and take excellent care of her. I have been going to Care for several years now. I have 4 dogs of my own and foster dogs on a regular basis. They have always been able to fit me in when it was an "emergency" and always tried to find the best solution. Recently, one of my foster dogs was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction....if it wasn't for Care and the Dr on staff, this dog would not be here today. The price was high, but very fair. Had this surgery been done at the emergency vet down the block, the price would have been triple the amount. Every member of their staff treats you with respect and they do an unbelievable job with our dogs. I would highly reccomend them. They aren't the cheapest, but they are worth EVERY single penny!

I've been going here for 6 yrs, since my oldest got parvo. The vets and techs are all amazing. They are very gentle with each pet & know their history well. They truly do "care" for their patients. At some vet offices, I've always been a little intimated & wondered if I was being judged. Never here. They always make sure that you have a full understanding of any procedure & encourage you to call them if you have any questions. And unlike some places, they actually take the time to speak with you on the phone if you have any follow up questions you didn't ask @ the initial visit. So yes, highly recommended.

I brought my pet to care and something went wrong. I'm not going to say what because it's not important. it was more of a freak accident beyond their control. What happened next is what is important. Not one employee of care tried to make an excuse or blame someone else. They took complete ownership of the situation and fixed it. My pet is happy and healthy and so am I. The front desk always has enough staff so that when you walk through the door, someone can help you right away. Dr. Stephanie just took on my case for my dog and instead of refilling his meds, she got a diagnosis to me in words that I can understand. She will sit down with you and not make you feel rushed. Bottom Line on Top: Probably FIVE Stars Over Time Our furbaby needed urgent dental work (see review of phenomenal -- if expensive -- UrgentVet down the street) and our normal vet couldn't see her for nearly three weeks, so we went with the recommendation and tried Care. They saw her the next day and operated a week later. Their COVID process is flawless and their communication was good. More importantly, the outcome was superb. And, whilst we'd spend whatever it costs to keep our pet healthy, the cost was really reasonable. Why not five stars? First, I reserve five stars for perfection. Second, thanks to COVID, I haven't actually met the vet(s) yet. Third, we've only been twice, and that's not enough for me to give five stars. Expect an update in a year or so; I really hope they earn that last star.

I live in South Tampa but I've been looking for an exotic pet veterinarian that is knowledgeable and kind both to the animals and their owners. The vet clinic I take my cats to - Bayshore Animal Clinic, recommended this office. My first visit here with Dr. Rubenstein, though important, was a bit overshadowed due to the sudden illness and subsequent death of a pet. The staff was very patient with me as I was visibly distraught. I was provided tissues, plenty of personal time and space, and everything was explained to me. I brought my other pet in 2 weeks later and Dr. Rubenstein did a thorough exam, asked probing questions, and offered advice without being pushy or condescending. This office gets very busy, and we had to wait over an hour for our appointment even with a scheduled time slot, but the veterinarian and the service they provide made it worth it.

Back in June our 18 month old pup, Harley, had an Addisonian crisis. The doctors at care animal hospital were able to identify this uncommon condition and kept our pup in the day hospital all day for tests and treatment. When Harley woke up from sedation she took a turn for the worst. She was very sick and they sent us to Blue Pearl where she was admitted to the ICU. While she was at Blue pearl for 3 days our care team at Care animal hospital kept in contact with us and blue pearl about important updates and test results. Knowing they were on top of her lab results and kept in contact with us gave us such peace of mind. Harley is a completely different pup these days. She's happy and healthy and gets to come in every month for her shot and everyone is always so nice even when Harley is not 🙈. Thank you for taking care of our girl. I truly believe she would have passed away that night if they hadn't convinced us to take her to the emergency hospital.

The front desk is really sweet and I have gone quite a few times for my dog but I really don’t like Jeremy (the technician) and Dr. Stephanie. They’re both not compassionate whatsoever and not understanding. They don’t seem to care for my dog or I. I have gone once where the technician and the doctor were great and extremely sweet and tried making my dog feel better but today, I was with Jeremy and Stephanie and I just do not like them. Jeremy made sarcastic jokes like “oh you were such a delight” while my dog is muzzled and obviously terrified. I was trying to get the muzzle on my dog and no help was provided whatsoever unlike last time. The technician last time also cooed and pet my dog to try and make her feel better while Jeremy did not care about that. Did not ask if an x ray could be done and it seemed like she knew it didn’t need to be done. I forked out an extra $139 that wasn’t needed.

My dog BB is very ill. He most likely has cancer. I had made an appt. with the vet for 8:30 but got worried so brought him in early. No questions were asked and I did not have to wait. They took me straight back and started to take care of BB. They have done everything to make sure he is doing well. I can't even begin to explain how amazing this animal hospital is. My puppy, Alli, and I have been to many a different animal hospitals because of our journey throughout the state of florida and no where else did I find as much love, knowledge and dedication to animals and their owners. I happened upon Care Animal Hospital when I met the owner Dr. Richard Kane in my line of work as physical therapist. At that point, we were between vets because we had just moved. When Alli needed to be taken to the vet due to a concern of a re-occurrence of bladder stones, I took her to the animal hospital down the street from my home because it was close, convenient, it had good online reviews. That hospital led me to believe that my 5 year old mini schnauzer had a bladder tumor that is often terminal in dogs. In my hysteria, I left a message for Dr. Kane who was out of the country at the time. He called me back within hours from Ireland and told me he would take care of Alli. When I brought Alli to see him he calmed all of my fears and told me she just had a re-occurrence of bladder stones that would need to be removed surgically. He worked around my schedule and he, and his colleagues, took the best care of her. He called me as soon as her surgery was over and personally called me that evening after I had brought her home to check up on her. Since that time, Care Animal Hospital has been the ONLY place I would take my dog to in the tampa bay area. My fiance also began taking his cat and dog to see Dr. Kane. We have also seen the other veterinarians at the hospital and have been nothing but happy with the care they have provided. In every situation, they have gone above and beyond. Dr. Kane has even given me a tour of his hospital and his surgery center for horses; you can tell that being a veterinarian is truly his calling because of the way he lights up when he talks about his animals and his facility. He even recently brought on his daughter as a colleague and new veterinary graduate that was recently rated one of the top 25 UF Alumni under 25. If she's even half as awesome as her dad, I know the practice will be in great hands when he passes on the reigns. Now that my fiance and I have taken our humble abode of animals out to Texas, we were crushed to have to find a new vet that would take as good of care of them as Care Animal Hospital did. But I try not to worry too much because Dr. Kane and his staff promised to be just a phone call away and even found me a new Vet in the area that they recommended. If you're looking for a truly amazing group of people to care for your pets, look no more. Care Animal Hospital is absolutely the best of the best!

We had an appointment this morning to have our dog Dudley teeth cleaned, my wife made the appointment for 7:30am, I arrived early at 7:15am, I was the first person in the parking lot, I tried calling to let them know I was here but it went straight to voice mail, I talked to someone at 7:30am and they told me they would have someone come out and get Dudley in a few minutes, at 8am nobody still came out, so I called again, and again they told me someone would be out in a few minutes, well, they finally came out at 8:25am, by this time I'm really upset, so I let the person know this is no way to run a business, and I personally will not be back, someone could have at least come out to say hello, and let me know what was going on, this is no way to keep your customers happy. "Unprofessional"

I moved to the area a little over a year ago and had never established with a new vet because our westie terrier was over 16 years old. This week or "Coco" became sick and I called them to explain the situation. Even without an established relationship they said come right on in without an appt. I ended up going to their office twice that same day and had to make a very difficult decision to euthanize. Needless to say I was distraught and so terribly sad. There was a different doctor on duty when I came back the second time but she knew all about my Coco even though she had not seen him earlier that day. I take my mini lop Abby to Dr. Jo Lianos. It is difficult to find an exotic vet if the area, but I'm glad we ended up going to Care. She, along with the rest of the staff, are genuinely nice people who actually care about your fur babies. I have had to deal with a handful of vets who had no idea what they were talking about and gave really bad advice about how to care for rabbits. Dr. Jo knows what she's talking about and always does all she can to help us out. It is inconvenient that they do not do lab work on exotics in house (I had to go to BluePearl Tampa where the avian and exotic specialists are) but very few vets offer the level of kindness and expertise Care Animal Hospital does.

When my cat had a severely distended abdomen last Friday and our current vet was dragging his feet, we were calling around trying to see ANYONE who would take care of us since we knew hardly anyone would be open on the weekend. I called CARE and they said they would see me if I brought our cat in right away, which I did, driving the ten miles there. We sat for maybe five minutes after I filled out a sheet, and then we were seen immediately by Dr Kane and two nurses. I originally only thought we were going to get my cat's stomach tapped and an ultrasound. (The things my vet was unable to provide.) It was a flurry of activity, and after a few minutes the doctor said, "I'll be honest with you. I could charge you $300 for what you want me to do and send you home, but you have a VERY sick cat. If you hadn't brought him in, he wouldn't have survived the weekend. If you want, I can make you an appointment somewhere that can take care of him RIGHT NOW." When I said yes, Dr Kane personally made an appointment for me (at a place I had called and was told was booked til Tuesday no less) and I could hear him on the other room saying, "I know you're busy, but this cat really needs your help." Our cat has since been diagnosed with heart failure, but is on meds and has had his abdomen drained and is getting the aftercare he needs... we hope to have at least another year with him, but if we hadn't seen Dr Kane we wouldn't have him right now. Because Dr Kane took a personal interest in our cat, and moved so professionally and decisively, our cat is still alive, happy, and comfortable today. We are taking our cat in today for a follow-up to see Dr Piscitelli (the cardiologist who actually treated our cat at the other location and works on and off at Care) and this place has earned its spot as our primary vet, despite the distance. It was clean, professional, and staffed by busy, friendly people.

Care Animal Hospital SAVED MY DOG'S LIFE! Dr. Courtney treated my dog Kallie for spinal meningitis. When I brought her in at the beginning of the week she had low fever and depression, but no key symptoms. After running some tests and general antibiotics, and a few days later Kallie started to be more symptomatic of the spinal meningitis. They got her on the necessary steroids and now Kallie is healthy and back to playing with my other dog! Some ladies brought in a baby squirrel on a late Friday afternoon to the animal shelter where I volunteer, and we don't take them at the shelter. They were freaking out so I promised them I would find a place that would take the creature and do all they could to take care of it. I called about 10-12 different rescues that I found online, but hardly anybody answered and nobody that I got ahold of could take it right away. Friday night is not a good time to be calling people!! I finally called BluePearls and they said the MIGHT have somebody. So, I did my best to rehydrate it, warm it, and called back in the morning next day, and they said she couldn't take it. So I took a chance, called it in and drove it over to Care, and they immediately put me at ease, gave me a release form, and let me know that they had 3-4 other babies in back for her to snuggle with and the lady that fosters them would be by later in the day to pick them all up. The receptionist was incredibly, unbelievably helpful and kind considering I was not a paying customer, instead I might be a -costing- customer because I was saddling them with a new creature. She told me all about the foster lady, her process, etc, and really put me at ease that I could fulfill my promise to those women that the baby would be taken care of. She was also kind enough to explain the forms that I was signing pertaining to the surrender and why I had to sign them when the baby wasn't mine to begin with. But hey, I wasn't paying for anything so I really can't complain!
