Everyone at VSS that I've interacted with has been incredibly kind, professional, and fast. Yes, it's an emergency clinic, so if you're going in for an emergency you can expect to be there for a minimum of 2-5 hours, depending on how rough the night is being to them.
But, they have helped my feline family multiple times. From answering questions from a concerned cat parent at all hours of the night to the end of life care for my cat, Shin, they did their best to keep me informed. And they always give an honest assessment of if they feel your call is an emergency or not.
Your pet is in great hands with these kind people.

Note-this place is a hospital for pets and you can expect to wait just the same as you would in the emergency room of a human hospital. So try not to freak out and be kind to those treating your pet.
Against my better judgment I gave my two dogs a smoked bone. I hadn’t realized that one of them swallowed a piece and it lodged in her belly. She was restless and wouldn’t sleep that night and by 4:30am she was vomiting. She kept vomiting and started shaking until about 1pm. Her regular vet made us an appointment with VSS.
Dr. Black explained everything very well and assured me that surgery was not the first option. Her relief, Dr. Torres, called me and explained the same thing and assured me that Rosie would be monitored closely. Both of these doctors were very understanding of my concerns and really expressed compassion. I truly felt like Rosie was in good hands and appreciated the level of care she received. Thanks to the staff at VSS all is well and I’m glad to have her back home and back to her usual self.

I can't say enough good things about the patience, professionalism, and excellent care we recieved during an extremely difficult time. It should really speak volumes that I'm leaving a 5 star review while recounting the worst day of my life. Our beloved cat had a sudden emergency and ultimately needed to be put to sleep last weekend. We are so greatful for Dr. Black and her team for seeing us immediately, walking us through our limited options, treating our cat's pain, giving us time to say goodbye, and gently and respectfully assisting with his passing. We are greatful the cremation services were available. We are comforted by having our cat back home with us now, so we can continue grieving our loss and find peace with his sudden illness and passing.

Dr. Sherman and her team were absolutely excellent and compassionate. Last week, my husband and I brought our cat Cougar in on an emergency referral from our vet. He really needed an ultrasound to get a closer look at a tumor. The ultrasound showed that the cancer had spread extensively, and we made the difficult decision to put him to sleep that day so he could die peacefully in our arms. Dr. Sherman fully educated us on his prognosis and our options and empowered us to make the decision that was best for Cougar. She gave us as much time as we wanted to say goodbye to him. They even moved us into a room with a couch and blanket so we could cuddle him before we said goodbye, and did the leg work to connect us with a partnering business that would take care of his cremation. VSS took care of everything for us on probably the most difficult day of our lives and provided so much comfort to optimize our last hour with our sweet boy. Thank you VSS for providing amazing care and service. Highly recommend.

They saved my dying diabetic cat, and found multiple issues my primary vet had overlooked. When we brought him to them, he was intermittently seizing violently and going limp and nonresponsive due to being overprescribed insulin by our primary, and I really thought that was it. His blood sugar was unreadably low when admitted. I cannot thank them enough, I would not have my boy with me still if it weren't for their quick, thorough, and diligent work. He's happy and healthy now, and more stable than he's been in weeks before the incident.

VSS has seen us through absolute devastation. While we were very unhappy with them and were left wondering about the death of one of our beloved kitties years ago, I wouldn't recommend you take your animals anywhere else when specialist/ER care is needed.
We took my sweet kitty there in the middle of the night a few weeks ago (who I regard as my child) and felt we received very competent care. I'm thankful they are here in St. Louis and feel our kitties receive excellent care in coordination with our primary care Cat Clinic on Schuetz Road.

Our sweet, crazy French Bulldog was hit by a car in January. We had been a previous patient for the Internal Medicine Department so we knew exactly where to take her when this happened. The injuries were just too much for her little body. All of the staff were wonderful from the front desk, to the Vet techs to the doctors. Especially Dr. Cregor, Dr. Scott, Dr. Issleib and Elise for being so kind and patient.

I came in last night with a dog that puked up a sock 😭 The staff was amazing and so kind. They took great care of my Lana girl, she is a bite risk and not good with people and they made her feel comfortable and didn’t make me feel bad for having a reactive pup. They took great care of her and did a great job at keeping me calm too. I cannot recommend this place enough for your pets emergencies.

They were so, so kind to me. My cat passed away unexpectedly while in their care (through absolutely no fault of their own, they are very good at what they do). This was heartbreaking but every member of the staff that I interacted with has been nothing but kind and went above and beyond in their thoughtfulness. They allowed me as much time as I needed, took the time to talk everything through with me, and I’ll cherish the personalized mementos and sympathy cards that I received. It’s comforting to know that my baby was in good hands. Definitely recommend if you want people who will genuinely care.

Our dog had a major leg surgery there. They are truly experts in their field! Great (dog)bed side manner as well 🤪 Absolutely love them for emergency, surgery and other services. Would highly recommend over and over again 👍 …

We originally went to collinsville emergency clinic where they wouldn’t even evaluate our animal and told us we need to go to VSS because our dog needed a major surgery and blood transfusion. That however was NOT the case.
The customer service at VSS was beyond amazing and the care our sweet boy received was phenomenal, Start to finish!
I can’t thank all the staff for their care. Our boy is on the road to recovery and didn’t need any blood transfusion.
We may need an additional procedure if he doesn’t heal properly. But he is stable! (Our dog was Neutered at hoof and paw in Belleville)
Huge thank you from the Brewers, especially our baby Tater!

This place SAVED MY DOG'S LIFE!
Also, I was very frank with the staff about my money situation, and I felt that they did whatever they could to keep the costs low.
Not only was everyone professional and compassionate, but the 3 times I spoke to our doctor during surgery, I could HEAR the smile on her face.
KUDOS!!!!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌

We went to the emergency vet with a very unhappy xl sized dog who was having eye pain. Did we wait? Yes about 2 hours to be seen and once we got in treatment took about an hour and a half, but given the last time I was at the human ER and that took about 4-5 hours I think the wait at the vet ER was reasonable, especially considering my dog’s injury was definitely not life threatening. The vet and staff were incredibly patient and understanding with my very unhappy dog, and did everything to make sure he was safe and they were safe as well. They thoroughly examined him and gave us a care plan that we could follow to get him better. While I hope I never have to go back, or anyone has to use ER services, I would absolutely recommend.

I thank God for Dr Mark Anderson. Twice now he has saved and extended my friend's life through surgery. He's a kind, caring, courageous human being to do the incredibly hard work that he does day after day and to do it so well. As a life-long caretaker to a variety of furry friends, I've dealt with many veterinarians, veterinary oncologists and veterinary surgeons and Dr. Anderson is simply the best of the best, period. And he's surrounded by an amazing staff at VSS who work so hard to provide care for animals in dire circumstances. I truly cannot recommend them enough. They are professionals committed to the well being of the animals in their care and I will always be grateful to them.

Phenomenal service! They care for your pet just like you would and 24 hour service is so nice to have in the area. The staff was very knowledgable and willing to share it, quick to diagnose and treat your pet. As an emergency vet, they have reasonable prices as well. There is also coffee and water in the waiting area.

On Thanksgiving night we came home and our cat that was not acting like his happy himself and we could tell he was in pain. I called an emergency clinic and and they told me they couldn't take him because they were real busy. Suggested I called VSS, So I brought him here. This place was awesome, and the doctor was great as well as all the staff we came across. Even though we had to make the difficult decision to euthanize our fur baby.

I appreciate these guys so much. I know their job is hard but they are so important! I called emergency vets closer to me and they all had stopped taking patients because they were full. VSS saw my pet immediately, even tho it was the worst case scenario, they were so helpful and patient with us. I hope I never have to use them again, but if I do they will be my first call.
Becky Gesellschap
The staff and Veterinarian were amazing, especially the receptionist. We came in at 2am for an emergency humane euthanization and were greeted with kindness, compassion, patience, and empathy. The Veterinarian was very professional and explained everyone to us as she went. I’m very grateful.

We had the unfortunate circumstances of needing to euthanize my dear elderly cat on short notice early Monday morning. Because she had deteriorated so quickly over night, we didn't feel we could wait until our vet's office opened and hope they could get us in that day. But fortunately, VSS was able to work us in on short notice. Everyone from the front desk to the veterinarian was so kind and compassionate as we said goodbye. It was a really terrible day, but their kindness made it a little more bearable. Thank you <3

Absolutely outstanding animal hospital!!!! Came in on a Sunday after being brushed off by another place in O'Fallon. They were able to see my dog within 2 hours even with the huge volume of patients that day!! Very, very kind doctor and staff on all fronts, would highly recommend them to anyone in need of veterinary help in a pinch, thank you again for helping my baby girl 😁😁😁😁😁

VSS was wonderful and compassionate on one of our saddest days. We took our beloved 11 year old dog in after normal vet hours because she was suddenly lethargic, wasn’t eating , and could barely walk. The findings were devastating and we unfortunately had to put her to sleep that evening. While it was a terrible reason to have our first visit at VSS, they were knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and made it as peaceful of a process as it could be. When I returned a few days later to pick up a paw print they had made for us, they again met me with compassion and genuine care. I highly recommend.

My dog was showing signs of bloat at 2-3am. I took him in and they x-rayed him immediately to rule it out. It was not bloat, thankfully, but was still unsure what the matter was.
Having ruled out the emergency, my dog was returned to me and we waited for the doctor as he performed a life-saving surgery — successfully — on a cat that was brought in. We waited a while, but that’s totally fine, and expected, considering there are so many pets like the cat needing immediate attention.
The doctor, the techs, and all the staff were unbelievably friendly and professional, and never gave me reason to doubt their sincere concern for my pet. After another X-ray (after saving the life of someone else’s pet) we found foreign objects in my dog’s stomach and the doctor clearly articulated possible ways forward.
I highly recommend (note: expect a wait in most cases, but your pet’s needs will never be neglected).
Sarah Ryan
I had to take my dog in during the wee morning hours of 11-25. The wait time was long but the other reviews warned me because its just like a human ER (worst case goes before you) . I waited 5 hours. My dog received good care from the nurses and the doctor on site. Besides the long wait, it was a very good experience. They addressed all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. Thank you!
Manuela Macias
VSS was amazing at treating my pup for Bloat. I called ahead and they were waiting for us in the vestibule. Once bloat was confirmed, surgery was performed that night. They keep me informed and took great care of him. We will be forever grateful!

Dr. Marshall and Dr. (sounds like Lomcheck but not sure if I'm spelling it correct he was absolutely unbelievably considerate) saved our dogs life as she went into heart failure on Monday night and Tuesday A.M. -- what else can we say? Both doctors were incredibly nice and passionate about helping our dog Lucy -- so happy to have her back.
Note: Prepare yourself because the place is run like Fort Knox, beware. We arrived WITH an emergency only to find there are about four billboards out front that say remain in your car and text "X" number and we'll call you and let you in. I mean, think about it, if not people would be running in 10x a minute with injured and sick animals -- it was absolutely crushed on both days we were there, cars arriving every minute we saw as we sat there in the parking lot. Either way, they are absolute pro's and know what they're doing. They have a system, but be ready to wait.

Nobody wants to take their pet to the ER. This place was absolutely jam-packed with so many pets in so many different medical situations and yet everyone here couldn't have been any nicer any faster or more respectful of the care and the love & respect that you have for your pet. Even though they couldn't save our Trouble cat, he was humanely allowed to pass in our arms and we were put in a little room to deal/process with our grief privately.
Chelsie Baumhardt
I am always so beyond amazed by VSS and their outstanding care. We have come multiple times with emergencies over the years and the staff is amazing. Keep in mind this is a veterinary hospital, and like a human hospital your pet will be triaged so wait times may differ. I brought our cat a few years ago who was suffering a gunshot wound and he was seen immediately and received amazing care. Last week, just before the holidays I brought in our cat who was suffering from a foreign body. We were there for probably 1-1.5hrs. Our cat was hospitalized and received her surgery later on that day. We were able to bring her home just in time for the holidays and overall the bill was way less than we expected. Thank you all so much!

We called over 4th of July weekend. My dog fell and and seemed fine but in the middle of the night he was moaning so I laid with him and he started barking non stop. VSS told us it would be a few hundred dollars just to see him to give him some trazadone and it would be best to wait until in the morning and take him to his reg vet. About an hour later he calmed and went to sleep. I went to his vet first thing next morning. He walked and didn’t appear to have any injuries. He had vision loss that he didn’t have before and kept running into things. Vet gave us meds and I took him home. Through out the day he didn’t seem to improve so we didn’t call we just took him to VSS. Dr called us while waiting. Dr thinks he threw a blood clot which likely caused him to all of a sudden lose his vision. The best option was to put him to sleep b/c he wouldn’t of had good quality of life. I was crying during it so I did not think to tell them I need his bedding back. The bedding the the VSS worker brought into the clinic with my dog. I called them few days later to let them know I need the bedding back. It is part of a car pet seat and I would need it for another dog. They said they would look and call back. Never called back. The following week VSS calls to say my pets ashes are in. I asked about my items. They say no we haven’t found it yet but are still looking. A few weeks go by and still hear nothing. I call and get the run around about how big the place is and the amount of people in and out and things get laundered all the time and things get donated as well. I sent them a pic of what my missing items look like. That is not an excuse. You need to do better. Have a better way tracking items that come in with pets. Still haven’t heard anything so I sent an email and no reply until almost 2 weeks later. “ I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. We don't have a 'system'. In general we do not accept personal belongings into the hospital for this very reason. However, in a life threatening situation such as Scooter's, our primary concern is always the patient. Unfortunately, we have not found this item. I assure you if we do find it we will contact you.”
My issue is I didn’t not bring the personal item in, the worker did. It’s nice to know they just keep whatever comes in and don’t return it

Today was our 3rd visit with our Pedro. I want to say no matter how long it takes hto see a Dr., all the employees are very nice and compassionate people. They don't mind answering questions and just being nice is at the top of their list. They take care of their patients from start to finish, as if they are their own family. Thank you.

VSS definitely saved my cat's life.
Last month I took him to the Webster Grove Urgent Care due to issues peeing blood. They told me that it was probably just Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease. Because his bladder was empty and he wasn't obstructed. They gave me anti inflammatory meds and waved me away. They made it sound as long as he wasn't obstructing, that it was not a big deal.
Well Friday night, he did obstruct. I raced him to VSS and they met me at the door and immediately brought him in to begin clearing the obstruction. They made sure to keep him there til they felt comfortable releasing him but even watching him since he got home, ie he is way more actively drinking water and peeing better than he has in the last month and while this is without a doubt not cheap, if I hadn't brought him there he would have died.
I won't fault Webster Groves, they probably genuinely did not think it was the biggest deal but VSS is why he's still here. Everyone was courteous and quick and informative and I cannot thank them enough.

Our bulldog had a luxated patella (dislocated kneecap) and required surgery. We had a consultation with Dr. Thomas Coletti. Dr C is extremely friendly and he spent a lot of time explaining what is needed. Our bulldog is home recovering. They took excellent care of her. I highly recommend VSS. It’s an animal hospital do they’re open 24/7/365.

The teams at both VSS and VSS-West are wonderful. In addition to the technical knowledge, they are very caring. They have been wonderful with communication post surgery. We have had multiple questions and they have been very patient and answered all of them.
Lindsay Denton
Over the last few months we have been to both VSS locations, our dog Stella was referred to their surgery department for a Sarcoma on her leg. The doctor, and staff were always thorough, kind and professional! She had to stay overnight for surgery and as upsetting as it was for us to leave her- I felt good about the care they provided. Dr Rausch kept us informed every step of the way, and in the weeks that followed! After surgery we consulted with the oncologist about her options and started chemotherapy. She had a matching flower on her collar when she came back from a blood draw 🥰 You hope you never need their emergency and specialty services but if you do, we want to recommend the team at VSS.

This is a great place to have your furbaby cared for when you have an emergency and need compassionate and professional individuals. They are very informed and caring, and helped comfort and reassure me in the hardest moment of my, admittedly short, life. Thank you all so much, for your professionalism, your knowledge, your talent, and your compassion; you're all saints and heroes for the love and labors you give to our precious family members.
Rest in peace my sweet little girl. . .

We brought home a tiny 3 lb. puppy that tested positive for parvovirus the very next day. VSS took care of our little guy for 9 days and saved his life for us. He is feeling great and we are so happy to have him finally home. He is now a happy wonderful little puppy.

Bad situation made as easy as possible by a very good staff. I appreciate the compassion shown.
It was a holiday weekend and near midnight and my good boy was showing signs of a volvulus. He needed a place to go get evaluated and this was the only place in town open I was aware of. I was a bit reassured to go to here from the good reviews on google. I'm glad I went for my dogs sake. We weren't going to get him surgery at 10 years old but he needed to be put down to end his pain. They quickly confirmed EVD with an x-ray and made it easier to accept the timing of it.Two weeks prior, I had looked up info regarding euthanasia services in the area but was not expecting it to be needed so suddenly. An ED was not a place I wanted to go to put my dog down so didn't even consider this. The team could not have been better about providing me time with my dog before and after. Before I left, I went to pay and was just accepting that whatever I had to pay was worth it for my dog. Fortunately the pricing to cover care was reasonable and on par with other services I had seen. For around $650 there was an exam, x-ray, pain medication through IV and euthanasia service with private cremation.

Smokie, my fur baby became ill and had difficulty walking with seizure.. He was treated was treated by VSS hospital. The treatment was excellent and the hospital kept me update about his care. Unfortunately, my beloved baby passed away. I will away love him. Thanks to Dr. Greer and the staff for taking care Smokie.
Matt Mathews
The staff here was incredible. We had to take our dog here after a medical scare and they could not have been kinder to us or our dog. The person who signed us in was extremely calm and helpful, and the doctor was caring, attentive, and informative. No one wants to take their pet to an emergency clinic, but if you have to I couldn't recommend this clinic more highly.
Stephanie Stilinovic
My sweet Maltipoo started throwing up blood at 4am and this was the only place we could find with a vet on staff overnight. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff was so nice and helpful, the doctor was fantastic, she was cognizant of our budget while also giving my dog the best care possible. My dog stayed overnight for treatment and recovered very well. They kept me updated the whole time and when I picked her up there were no surprises with the bill. I highly recommend them!
Arin Brewington
The vet and all of the staff that I saw and spoke to during the worst night of my life were incredibly gentle and compassionate, and when I returned a week later to collect my best pal's ashes, the staff member again expressed genuine sympathy for my loss. The cost was incredibly reasonable, especially for a middle of the night emergency visit. I hope I never, ever have another night like that again, but I would absolutely go back if I needed emergency care for a pet.
Mallory R
We woke up around 5 Am to our fur baby whimpering and face swollen/hives on body. The emergency clinic closest said a few hour wait but VSS was able to get him right in and take care of him. They were so friendly the whole time and prices very reasonable! Our rocky boys swelling has gone down tremendously throughout the day/hives are gone and we are so thankful for them!
Amanda Matchell
We thought our cat Gizmo broke his arm but fortunately he did not but this place was great. They were super nice, professional and great with our cat, it we ever have an emergency again (hopefully not) we will be taking our fur babies here! Thank you guys so much!!!

If I could give a million star rating, I would. I adopted a kitten in October of 2021. When I picked her up from the adoption facility, she had a stuffy nose and a runny eye. The adoption facility assured me that it would go away, but it never did. So, after MANY trips to the adoption facility's veterinarian AND my veterinarian, the problem never resolved. So, the adoption facility suggested I make an appointment with VSS, and I did. During the consultation, a treatment plan was made and a date was set for an exploratory procedure. During this procedure, the veterinarian discovered that my cat had two rather large nasal polyps. The polyps were removed and my cat is doing fabulous. Thank you Amber Graham and staff! You all are AMAZING!! ♥️
Brutal Brutalski
They saved my puppies life. Twice. I didn’t think he would make it through Parvo but they did everything to get him better. I’m so happy I decided to take him here, i would never even try a different hospital, the alternative in Webster Groves is a joke and almost killed my dog!!
Taylor P
Amazing place. They were so packed, all of the other “emergency vets” were sending everyone to VSS, and they were accepting everyone. Which is amazing. We rushed there for our cat, got put into a waiting room immediately and waited two hours. They let us know he was okay and we could take him to our vet tomorrow. That he wasn’t immediate. Other pets definitely needed more attention than ours and we are thankful they told us he’s okay.

We had a 1:30 a.m. emergency. The emergency staff were fast to respond to my emergency. They were able to diagnose the problem (foreign object in his stomach). Bloodwork and x-rays were taken and I had the results promptly. The Dr kept me informed the whole time. Same with the day shift when they took over. (They had to keep him overnight) Thankfully, he did not need surgery. I am grateful to the staff for moving so fast to address my emergency and I would recommend their emergency services.

Very professional. The head Vet was extremely transparent about prices and what would be the best decision for our Doggo. He ended up saving me a bunch of money and my Doggo is doing fantastic!
Thank you very much!!

We got back from a long vacation and our dog was not doing well. Long story short, we thought she was a goner. We took her to VSS and found out she had a heart defect. Dr. Marshall did a fantastic job with the surgery. A few bumps in the road, but Sylvia is doing so much better now. Very happy that VSS saved our dog!
Lauren Sarver
We arrived late in the evening with our dog in very bad shape. Someone took one look at her and rushed her back. Within two minutes the vet knew exactly what was going on with her- things our regular vet and an urgent care vet missed. She had a large mass on her liver and was in kidney and liver failure. The vet was very thorough and explained every part of the blood work and scans that were performed. It helped us by knowing we were making the right decision to let her go. The emergency care we received was beyond exceptional and they made the best out of a bad situation. I will never take my pets anywhere else for emergencies.
Kayla Hurst
Went there with my puppy this evening, all the staff were great. My puppy wasn’t very responsive but not critical. They worked quickly and got us taken care of. Truly appreciate everyone that was there tonight.

I have been going here for a couple of years now. My dog had autoimmune problems that no regular vet could figure out. He couldn’t even move by the time I took him to Dr. Anderson at VSS.
I cannot say enough good about Dr. Anderson specifically and VSS in general.
His ‘bedside manner’ it is absolutely excellent. You can tell from the moment you start talking to him how much he cares, and also how knowledgeable he is.
At my first visit, he knew what medication to give my dog, and within two days my dog could walk again. After months of having a little to no mobility.
I have been able to email them anytime with questions, and they are always helpful and informative via email.
I have never felt like they have tried to get me to make appointments that I don’t need just to make money, or pushed any medications or services on me that weren’t necessary, to make money… like a lot of regular vets unfortunately do.
I have lived in several different states, and I have gone to vets for multiple dogs I’ve had the years… VSS is the best vet or vet specialist I have ever been to in my life.
I Trust Dr. Anderson and VSS completely, and I recommend them without any reservations whatsoever.

Our dog had to be admitted for emergency spinal surgery. Everyone we interacted with at VSS - Manchester was professional, caring, and informative. Would recommend to family and friends. 10/10.

Our little 9mo old girl arrived there with a giant mass in her lungs. After testing discovered it was lymphoma even though all her blood work was clean. We started Chemo and after 4wks of TX, the tumor is almost gone and she is back to being my normal cat/dog/parrot lol ♡
Love the staff at VSS, so friendly. Always excited to see Betty Anne trout into the office like she owns it♡
the doctors are so knowledgeable and truly think only about the well being of your animal.
Thanks VSS♡♡♡

I arrived with a tiny kitten actively having seizures and he is was in a doctor's arms before I could even hang up the call. They do have a long wait for urgent cases sometimes, but that's because they are doing a great job prioritizing emergency cases and keeping animal wellfare as their #1.
Rae Marie
Were understanding and very communicable in terms of being consistent. Personable and direct. They explained everything in detail. Called me if there was even the slightest fluctuation of vitals. Bill was as expected, but totally worth it considering the condition I brought my baby in and the condition I brought my baby back home. I’ve come across a variety of questionable practices and this facility has restored my faith in the field. As a tech and pet mom. Highly recommended.

Saved our cat/child from certain death.
Unrelated to the crisis that prompted us to visit in the first place, they also uncovered a previously unknown case of diabetes! 😎
At the end of the day, he’s back home, feeling much better and sporting a cool new look.

TLDR: VSS saved my cat's life and his quality of life and went above and beyond in doing so.
In October of 2020, my cat had several near-fatal urinary blockages. We went to VSS for surgery to widen his urethra. Despite following post-op directions to the T, he ended up forming strictures and scarring in his urethra and had developed several problems. He wasn't able to urinate with a normal stream, he dribbled, he leaked while he slept, and he still sometimes cried while urinating. I took him back to VSS in January 2021 for an eval and the vet took one look at him and said he was strictured and needed a revision surgery. If that didn't work, we'd have to talk about putting him down. I was bawling at this point and the vet was extremely kind. We went ahead with the revision surgery. I was not charged for the initial visit that identified the problem, I got a huge discount on the revision surgery, and was not charged for subsequent post-op rechecks. The vet stayed in touch and was extremely helpful and concerned for the weeks following the revision surgery and I felt very supported. My cat is happy and healthy, cone free and enjoying very strong urinary streams today. I could not be more grateful for the care we received at VSS.

We had an emergency with
Bowie's back right leg, was bleeding severely like a cut artery and we just kept changing his dressing and it would be drenched in no time and the closest clinic open at that time was 2.5 hrs away but he needed to go and go quick so we loaded up and went. The staff and doctors were on top of it when we got there. It was well worth the drive and wished there were more like this around home. To the staff and doctors a really big thank you. 😁😷 💯💯

You never want to be a customer here since it means 1. Your pet is very ill/injured and 2. You're going to walk out MUCH poorer. That said, the doctors and staff are wonderful and you know your pet will receive the best 24/7 care. We've been here with foster animals, as well as our own.
Nathan P
They are definitely a very well experienced and knowledgeable staff. They were able to fit me in due to a recent cancellation and the next appointment was over 2 months away. The doctors are wonderful and everyone was very kind, they took great care of my pet and were able to diagnose a heart issue that is very uncommon.
With all that said, unfortunately the front desk staff need to be on the same page as the doctors with what was going to be done and costs. When I called we were told a price that was high (~$500) but it was for an EKG and a specialty doctors visit. I was determined to figure out what was going on and rearranged my budget to make it work.
This wouldn't have been a problem but when I got there they told me I needed many more tests than just an EKG, which I understand when it was explained why, but I was told originally just and EKG. They then quoted at over $1000. There was no way I could cover that many tests. I wouldn't have had an issue if I'd have been warned and could have rescheduled to a later date to save up for that.
There's no other way to put it, it was a bait and switch. I wish I could have known that from the start. They need to communicate with their front desk staff better so when scheduling and quoting pricing it is accurate.

This place helped my dog break his cluster seizures. The staff is very friendly. The building is really clean. I loved that they had lots of different coffee in the waiting area. I will say their emergeny fee is a few dollars cheaper than the animal emergeny clinic off of Big Bend on 44 highway. However, they are pretty pricey. That is to be expected with emergency issues. The vet we seen was really kind. I was in a sistuation where I could not speak on the phone, so they communicated with me through text. They treated my dog like the little spoiled baby he is. I would come here again.

Dr Mancini is amazing. She really took the time to explain all the details of the surgery and answer all the questions that I had. She was so thoughtful and you could really tell she cared! When my dog was suddenly paralyzed and dragging her legs, we all panicked. We weren’t able to come in due to the pandemic or visit my dog which was upsetting but Even while my dog was admitted, they were so thoughtful keeping me updated and sending me pictures of my dog while she was recovering. All of the staff here are wonderful. Now a month out, she’s already walking on her own! I’m so thankful for the staff here and recommend them highly.

I brought my 4 mo old puppy there March 11. They were quick to get him in and took great care of him! He was there over the weekend and I got a call every morning to give me an update. The vets as well as the staff were caring and courteous! I love this place!

I’d never been here before and rushed in late at night with my cat who we thought had had a stroke, the staff were very helpful and thorough with making sure they asked everything possible before working with her, they were very understanding and kind, and they truly went above and beyond in every way to make sure my baby was ok and well loved until I got her back! Absolutely all the reassurances I needed on such a hard night. So glad my baby came home alright.

We were in a tough spot at 1 am with our elderly dog in distress. We had never been here prior. They were incredibly responsive and saw us in a very reasonable amount of time. The veterinarian was thorough, presented options and was respectful of our sweet pup. When it became clear that we needed to provide compassionate euthanasia during the same visit, the entire staff were caring, gave us plenty of time and explained everything clearly. It’s never easy to go through moments of distress or the death of a loved one, but I was really grateful that they could help our dog to have a painless and peaceful death surrounded by the people he loved. Thank you all again so very much.

This place was highly recommended to me when my dog became very ill and I asked others for advice. The wait was very long, but the care was outstanding. They were able to save my dog's life and provide a clear diagnosis and treatment plan. Every vet I spoke with provided thorough information and explained pricing along the way to determine what we could provide for our pet. I am forever grateful to this amazing group of professionals.

We brought our little min pin in at 745pm and by 0700 the next morning the vet called and said she wasn't responding to treatment. Unfortunately we lost our girl today. She got very compassionate care and they did their best with her. Vets were extremely professional and knowledgeable and asked all the right questions. I was impressed with the care and concern our girl received. We would use this emergency department again but I hope we never have to.

We took our senior Chihuahua here after my husband slipped on some ice down the stairs with her in his arms and broke her little foot. They took wonderful care of her, there were a ton of people waiting so it took some time. But other than that they were great! Communicated the situation well, I could tell they actually cared about her. Even cut her nails. Hopefully we dont have to use their services again but if we do I will be happy to bring my dogs here and confident we will be well taken care of. Thank you all for your hard work!

I called this Veterinary Clinic when my dog was seriously ill, unfortunately it was after hours and more then an hours drive away. The service did take my phone number and gave it to a local vet who called me back within 15 minutes and I was on my way to a local clinic.
The visit cost me nearly $600 but they were able to run tests and medicate Jimmy. He was much improved the next morning and was back to himself within a week.

This was my first experience with this emergency veterinary hospital. My dog got very sick from an intestinal blockage. It is very scary when your pet gets sick on a sunday because most vets are closed. My family cannot thank this place enough for saving our dog. The doctors were friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, and went above and beyond to make a stressful situation have a good outcome. To anyone with reviews about the wait or price...I feel that the amount of animals going in to be seen was alot and this office took on the challenges with the most organized approach. Pets are part of the family and I am grateful for this place. Thank you guys for being awesome.

Very professional in caring for your pet and your needs, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and kept us well informed of every aspect and details of the procedures, my stepdaughter was on her Honeymoon when her dog Carmen became seriously ill, I thought that she was on deaths door, within 3 days she was home happy, healthy, and playful, eating normal and back to her old self. They seriously helped avoid a devastating situation, I can't give enough praise for the doctors and their staff, they are miracle workers who truly care and love what they do.

My cat was misdiagnosed and received negligent treatment by the rescue I got him from prior to his multiple ER stays. Dr. Graham (the internal medicine specialist), the ER team, and the vet techs treated him like their family. They even sent me photos of him when I was particularly worried. They are knowledgeable, thorough, provide really informed consent for any procedures, and were highly empathetic. After a month and a half where he was touch and go, we finally got to the bottom of what was causing his severe symptoms and started treatment. He has been doing wonderfully. I have no doubt that my little cat, Toast, is alive because of the wonderful care he received at VSS!

I brought my dog who was stung by something on her paw.. they were very helpful and wait wasn't too bad.. Gave her meds and prescriptions to take home.. was very reasonable cost wise. I have took many of my pets there over the years and will continue to do so when her normal vet isn't available.

So while it's a little pricey it is also the best veterinarian practice I have ever been to. The staff is so understanding and helpful especially if like my Riley your baby has major problems. I bet I called three to four times a day for four days and they never once got short with me. They always understand he's my baby and momma bear was worried. And if the vet is busy at the time of your call they always call back within the hour. I can't say enough about them the are just so wonderful.
Reena Roberts
Place is ok for a vet. I hate that they are one of the only places close to me that will take an emergency case any day during the week/weekend. We have a dog who is aggressive towards people who poke and prod her. So we told them she would need a muzzle and put it on her. They called and said she would need to be sedated for them to look at her. Then told us she needed a medicine without explaining what it was for.
Christine Ertle
Just visited for our 10 year old dog around 1:30 AM. Kind and helpful staff via phone and in person (we saw Emily), orderly and swift check in service, short wait time. Extremely thankful for their help tonight.
Kate Smith
Saw us within minutes after we were referred here by Banfield for an emergency spay. After xrays and a thorough exam it was decided it's only a UTI so we walked away with a $411 bill (and our cat!) instead of around $1200 for the spay. I really appreciate that they wouldn't do the surgery without cause. Dr. Bria Ozment was really supportive and let me ask questions and didn't rush me and gave us all the possibilities and outcomes. The clinic is big, clean, and a little louder than I expected for all the pets being in their own rooms- need better soundproofing I think. They also use CareCredit if you cant afford to pay your bill, which is really good to know. Also, if you have to return within 72 hours they don't charge the $95 exam fee!
Tommy Formann
Fantastic care for an emergency visit. Found out my puppy had gotten into some toys and eaten them while being boarded and VSS was able to get them removed surgically with no complications. They were very informative throughout the entire process.
Lucinda Roth
We had to put our chiwawow(never could spell it) down due to many health issues. The staff were the best. Very compassionate. We took it very hard but they helped to put us at ease. Thank you staff. You all were wonderful.
Madison Carnduff
My husband and I cannot say enough how wonderful VSS has been for us and our fur baby. She was brought in on a Friday morning and treated in their emergency care due to uncontrollable seizures. She spent 4 nights in their inpatient care and we received multiple updates each day, and everyone we talked to was extremely thorough. She was transferred to their neuro department where she became a patient of Dr. Mancini and requires pretty frequent follow up visits and med refills. Cheryl in neurology is always helpful and responds to all of our questions in a timely manner. We couldn’t be more thankful for the level of care that our dog receives at every interaction with the VSS staff and we would recommend them to any pet parent ever in need of emergency or specialized care.

Our experience with VSS has been with the oncology department. Dr. Bonnie Smith and her team have been a literal lifesaver. They have treated my dog and kept him alive and healthy all the while being extremely empathetic and caring during the process. I recommend them for their expertise, dedication, and compassion they show to animals.
Debbie Roeder
We have been to VSS many times, over the years, with our pets.
In these pandemic times it's difficult to hand your pet over to a tech and not be able to go inside with them.
This is where trusts comes in because your pet is in need and you want the best for them.
I have the greatest of confidence in the veterinarians, and all of the staff who are so openly caring for your very scared pet.
Is it expensive? Yes, very, however, you are taking your pet to a place that is available for immediate help when your personal veterinarian's office is not open.
I am thankful that VSS is there when our pets need them!

My 13 yo Cocker Spaniel had a lot of fluid buildup around his heart on May 10( Mother's Day) and our vet sent us to VSS for specialized care. Dr. Saunders is the cardiologist there and she was able to drain the fluid. They kept him overnight and then released him on Monday. Dr. Saunders put him on heart meds. We had a recheck on the 19th at which time he had to have another tap. Today was a recheck day and we had excellent news. His meds are working and no fluid buildup! I'm so glad that VSS was there for us. Sebastian was my dad's dog. Dad passed away January 2019 so Bas is very special to me and I'm so happy that they were able to help make him feel better.
Scott Branam Sr.
The staff at VSS is absolutely phenomenal!! I called them with an emergency for my best friend Petey and that we were on our way.
This was on early Sunday morning and Petey had been sick for about 8hrs. When we arrived, after calling to make ourselves known, they came out with a gurney for Petey but it was too late.
They put us in a room and allowed me time to grieve and to speak with a doctor.
I was worried because in my rush I forgot my wallet. They were so nice and more concerned with my ability to get back home safely.
Your staff is very well trained and Very compassionate.
Kudos to VSS and your team for making this tragedy a lot less tragic. I highly recommend VSS.

Great service.... great staff ...reviews the physical therapy down below for two of our dogs in the past....
We also used the oncologist..
And we're extremely happy with the results...

My cat has a couple of chronic conditions and had a flair up of one. Normally, his flair ups resolve in 48 hours and do not need a vet, but when I can home from work he was not better and not himself. I called and the receptionist was incredibly caring, friendly, and understanding. They were pretty swift as far as emergency centers go, being a human nurse, I understand the waiting and triage process. The vet, Dr Eisele, listened very well to his past history and was very caring and upfront about everything. They took really good care of him and we got to go home after some fluids and meds with outpatient instructions and care. I was surprised that they have inpatient vet care too. As far as costs, they are upfront about treatment plans and costs and it was well within reason.
Everything is still curbside and I watched some sad things while waiting in my car, but I also saw that the staff was very caring with all of their interactions. The techs I encountered were all very nice to me and adoring to the animals they were taking in and out. Pet emergencies aren't always positive experiences, but they are doing a really good job here.

Referred by our regular vet for emergency care of a young dog with sudden onset of vomiting and high fever. Excellent service from reception to treatment to discharge. Kaelynn on the front desk handled the intake calmly and efficiently. Dr. Cregor kept me informed and gave a clear and unhurried explanation of diagnose and treatment.
Very good experience and outcome.

I was so worried about my little Boston puppy after she hurt her leg. My husband and I immediately took her to VSS in tears because she was in so much pain. The parking lot was full! I was so fearful it would take forever and the service would be poor because they were so busy. That couldn’t be further from the truth! From the beginning, the vet tech took our information and gave us a realistic expectation of next steps, 20 minutes later our puppy was being taken in and about 40 minutes later the Vet called us kindly walking through her diagnosis. She answered all my questions thoroughly even though I know she was busy. She was kind and gave us options. We felt so at ease during the whole process even though we were terrified dog parents. Thank you to everyone, we will never go anywhere else!

They saved my Annie's life. From the nurses, doctors and ladies who answered the phone they were so wonderful. The doctors never failed to call and give an update everyday. We knew she was in excellent hands. Now she is home and feeling much better and acting more and more like her spoiled self.
Erin Metz
The Manchester staff is wonderful and very helpful. My dog had to have cancer surgery and they took excellent care during and after surgery. Still not allowed inside, but I feel confident in handing off my pet to them for care.
Marinegeekwife
The wait was long since we weren't an emergent case but, once seen, the staff were kind, clear, understanding, and sympathetic. Unfortunately they weren't able to save the kitten we found within a budget we could afford. But I know they tried their best and I never felt judged for having to make the hard choice to let her go.
Janelle O'Dea
Every time I called, they called me back. My cat was in for almost a week, here, with GI issues — she just quit eating and started hiding, uh oh — and although my anxiety was peak, they handled it well. They took excellent care of Phoebe and gave me all the information I needed to know she was in good hands. She's currently resting next to me, a little more than 24 hours post-op; we'll get her biopsy results and a treatment plan, next. I feel much better and more informed, as a first-time cat owner, than I did a week ago, when I just couldn't understand why she wasn't eating. The vets assured me this is a fairly common issue in cats, and I did the right thing by bringing her right away. I also feel empowered now that we have a plan moving forward, and she is feeling better, and eating again.

I'm just getting around to posting this....in October 2016, my senior dachshund suddenly had a slipped disk. My choices were to operate or put him to sleep. Being a full time (unemployed) student and new to the STL area, I considered the ladder due to financial concerns. Dr. Fred Winnger took the time to talk with me and present both options in a calm and practical way. I ultimately decided to move forward with the hemilaminotomy and wanted to express my gratitude to Dr. Winnger and the rest of the team that took such good care of my boy. The nurses patiently explained his at-home care instructions so well to me the day I took him home (and there was a lot to do!). He is healthy and somehow more mobile now than he was before his surgery! He is a thriving, happy boy and he wouldn't be here without the team at Veterinary Specialty Services. Thank you. :)
Liz P.
When our senior cat passed away they were so helpful with helping to get him cremated. They were truly compassionate with us as we said our goodbyes and didn’t rush to take him away.
Alan and Susan LaRue
I was seriously impressed with their services, staff, and professionalism. We love our dogs, and even though we live nearly an hour and a half away, we drove up there at 9:00 at night after we were afraid our puppy had a seizure. They took wonderful care of him, and we were so grateful they were there for us. I only wish we had something like them where we live.
Jenny Tullmann
We took our cat here for an emergency appointment. I was impressed with the attentiveness, warmth and expertise of the staff. I was also surprised that our bill was not higher (for the services that we received). They even have a vet who specializes in cardiology, and I believe she saved our girl. Even though we could only talk on the phone (they have strict covid safety measures 👍🏻), everyone at Veterinary Specialty Services was compassionate, patient, and thorough. They made sure I understood what was going on with my cat and didn't mind when I called in to check on her. Highly recommend.
Stephen Widger
Brought my 16 year old dachshund/Xolo mix in. She was very sick. The staff was great, and the vet was fantastic. She explained everything very well. We had to put her to sleep, and the staff was amazing. They were very caring and helped to make her last hours comfortable. I seriously can't recommend these guys enough. Thank you for all you did.
Mary Rother
This clinic is amazing! Knowledgable, friendly, and truly care for the animals. We had to bring our puppy in twice late at night for emergencies, and they took exceptional care of our boy. We will always drive out of our way if needed to come here for emergencies! (But here's hoping we won't have to!) Thank you to the vets and specialists who always cared for our Angus!
Elizabeth Novy
After 5 years of my baby Zelda going in and out of the ICU and lots of problems she was referred to internal medicine. The entire staff has been amazing at answering all my questions as I had a lot. Dr. Graham also was super sweet as our final answer wasn’t want we wanted to hear. We have a plan, meds, and more of a piece of mind knowing what is going on with her finally.
sabre thomas
This place is amazing and their staff is so kind and helpful. I have been there 3x this year with 3 different emergencies for 3 different dogs and each time they were a blessing. Last night they saved my boy Kloud so he could have a few more days with us. I am beyond grateful for them. I'll always suggest them to anyone in an emergency with a pet.
Angie Sperry
Lost our sweet boy Chevy on 12/30/2021 they were very compassionate and professional
Nicole Wells
I'm glad my friends recommended me to this ER. I had to take my dog in as she had been having difficulty breathing. I unfortunately had to put her to sleep due to cancer. Dr. Black was able to answer all my questions and let us have as much time needed with her before making our decision. The staff here is very friendly from when I first made the call, all the way until we left. If I ever have an emergency with any of my other pets, I will be going here from now on.
Melissa Jorcke
Our doggo recently underwent emergency exploratory surgery at West County Animal Clinic. It turned out to be worse than we thought and he had a perforation in his small intestine. This was major surgery!! Dr. Bender recommended that we transfer him to VSS emergency so that he would have 24/7 care after such a major surgery and that he was critical. We decided that was the best thing to do and we are so happy that we did. We knew that with our dog being very large and the amount of care he needed would be pricey, but it was worth it for the service we received from the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors. We received an update phone call each morning and they answered any and all questions that we had. We did have to wait quite a bit for discharge, but we were patient and understanding as we know that lots of places are very short staffed. Would absolutely recommend this place to take care of any furry friend!
Ginger Renae Rogers Scherrer
Your pet will receive the best care possible here. They have a compassionate and caring staff. I took my dachshund here after being hit by a car. I transfered him from another Vet Clinic after having his leg amputated and being told there was nothing more they could do for him. 4 surgeries in 2 weeks , amputation of a hind leg, blood transfusion, lots of meds and life saving techniques and 1 week later my boy came home. He is going to be okay. I can't give this place enough stars.
Ruth Cooley
This place is great for your sick or injured fur baby!!! Awesome staff. They take their time with you & never make you feel rushed. They explain everything & every step. I would recommend them to everyone.
Denise Diedrich
Kind staff, great doctors. With COVID, we couldn't go in with our dog, but the doctor made the process so much easier by keeping us informed, explaining everything, and giving us treatment options. I've never had to take a pet to an emergency style vet, so i was pretty nervous about the process. It was very smooth and my dog was in great hands!
Marissa Stephens
The day after Christmas, my German Shepherd was hit by a side-by-side and we rushed him (an hour) to this place to get him help. The vet kept contact with me through everything that happened when they had him and what they were going to have to do for him and how much it was going to cost. The cost of everything was very expensive.. but it is what it is. They were very nice and understood the love we had for our dog. Unfortunately, we ended up losing him the next morning and we chose to have him cremated. When I went to pick him up, we had a sweet card, and the best thing I could get. They made a mold imprint of his paw and sent it home with us. I am so greatful they did this and so happy I have this left of him. We also just received a personalized card from them sending their condolences. They really do care for their patients and their families.
Brett
They're simply the best. Yes it is expensive, but that also comes with the absolute best care. They work with you quickly and efficiently. They saved my cat during an overnight emergency.
Jessica Decker
Dr. Anderson and Staff are highly knowledgeable, professional, courteous and genuinely caring. is it expensive... well sure. however they've always been honest (sometimes painfully so... i appreciate that) about the medical facts and costs of my pets cases. the compassion and dignity they've show my "babies" and myself is worth its weight in gold.
Fig Beebo
They work hard to do what they do, and they do it well! Had to make an emergency visit. They practiced triage well. Curbside visit was efficient & staff was very friendly & compassionate.
Checking in/out was smooth, the ER fees were pretty much comparable to other local animal ERs i have been to (pricey but not what I would call "dramatically overpriced"). Overall, they got my pet stabilized & i was back home in less than 3 hours. VSS, you guys rock, keep up the good work!
Rachel M
We’ve brought our dog here twice, and our rabbit once. Every single experience has been amazing. We ended up having Dr. Broyles each time, and she’s amazing. We really wish she could be our regular vet. She’s so thorough, and you can tell she truly cares about your pets.
While they don’t specialize in rabbits here, a local vet has instructed Dr. Broyles on how to care for rabbits in certain emergency situations, and she did great helping my girl become healthy again.
Christina Merkle
This was the 2nd animal hospital we had taken out dog to in about 48 hours. We thought our dig had eaten some stuffing from a pillow and was extremely sick and had been getting worse. They gave our girl lots and lots of fluids and antibiotics. The next morning they removed the obstruction. Our girl was hospitalized for 2 more days and they took such wonderful care of her. We received daily updates. They saved our baby girl!!! I will never go to another animal hospital after this. VSS did 2 knee replacement surgeries about 10 years ago for another dog of ours and they took wonderful care of her to. I can't thank the Doctor's, tech's and the rest of the staff for being so great and caring.
Crystal Wing
The leg specialist that I saw did a fantastic job, and I felt that he was thorough and compassionate. The price was right. They've done a great job of taking care of my dogs for various orthopedic issues. There was some mistakes made in paperwork, but they did not impact the service and I trust them with my dogs.
Nat n Nana
We brought our dog in around 7:30 in the evening and received excellent care. The doctor called me while I was in my car and gave a thorough explanation of her assessment and diagnoses. We received the medications that Bella needed right then and did check out over the phone. It did take a little bit of time after everything was done for the tech to bring her back out. But I'm sure they were busy because the parking lot was full. We would definitely visit again if Bella needed something after hours.
Michael Spengler
Unfortunately we had to take our dog here after she got into some toxic food. They acted as fast as they could under the stress of how many animals they had in line. They took great care of our dog and she returned to us happy and healthy. She was in high spirits when she came out which means they must have treated her very well inside.
They called us with many updates and always were very reassuring during the stressful time that it was. Great place to go, if anything bad were to happen.
Rebecca Donovan
This is the third time we have taken one of our fur kids to VSS. They are very understanding of the “parents” feelings and keep you apprised of the patient’s condition. They’re professionals with a heart.
Jake Laurrell
Brought out ~8 week puppy here tonight after our normal veterinarian recommended doing so.
Despite social distancing measures, there was fantastic communication and care from the doctor who took care of our puppy. Very pleased with the service we received. Really made a scary situation as good as it could be.
The PRICE was far lower than we expected to pay as well. Definitely takes some stress out of the whole ordeal as well.
Thank you all at VSS so much!
Kim L
I get that they were busy on a holiday weekend... I waited 2 hours for them to see my dog but they did communicate that up front. He was seen and I paid for services within 20 minutes of him going in. I was told he would be put shortly and it took almost 2 hours for them to bring him out. I called twice and both times they said "shortly"... it would have been nice to know it would be a 2 hour wait because no could have run other errands. Overall, service was good and doctors/nurses were professional
Lorie Manno
This place is Fantastic. My lil Boston have to have an emergency visit. They took care of my Panda like she was one of their own. Staff was awesome friendly helpful and have COMPASSION!!!! I love this place I would recommend them to everyone I see.. Thank u so much everyone !!!
Megan Dupont
Recently moved to the area and my 2 year lab has shown significant signs of pain in his hip. Not having a permanent vet yet in the area, and all offices saying 2 weeks to be seen, i came here. AMAZING EXPERIENCE. very helpful and gave my pup the time in order to truly find out whats wrong. I excpected to pay around 1k being emergency, needing xrays and needing 2 different medicines BUT NO!! The bill was 450 and i was pleasesently suprised and happy. Very happy with there compassion for my animal and affordable services.
Thank you!
Abby Mickey
My pup got attacked by 30 or more bee's. They got me in within a matter of minutes. They told me it would be a while before the doctor would see my dog and I needed to wait in the parking lot. Within 10 minutes the doctor called said what they were going to do and she would call me back in 30 minutes. 35 minutes later she called and my pup was discharged. Surprisingly my bill was only $148. Very happy with the service. Everyone was so friendly and caring.
Wesley Wagner
Have taken my son and his dog there on multiple occasions. All trips of an emergency nature at early hours in the morning. Currently still in Covid-19 protocol. Extremely knowledgeable and caring staff. Capable of many in house tests including x-ray and blood tests. 24 hour service. Sends report back to your primary care veterinarian.
Block Donk
The guy was a little snippy with me when I was having an emergency with my cat. (Proceeded to get mad at me when I was trying to get my cat in but ya know know what's happening and you'll be fine generally speaking) but, when I got him in it was really good. Saved my cat's life gotta love that! My cat feels better and I'm happy about that :)
Alex Werner
EXCELLENT! I cannot thank the staff and the veterinarians here! They have taken such good care of our kitten with a heart defect. Furthermore, the cardiologist that saw our kitten 2x over the course of a year with 7 months between visits, she remembered our kitten and was very good with her! I cannot recommend VSS more! If any of your animals are having medical issues, especially atypical concerns, this is the place to find the right diagnosis and care!
Sue Fields
While extremely sad to put my 18 year old lab/hound dog mix to sleep, I couldnt of made a better decision of where to have it done. Professional, compassionate, caring, etc. The vet was great in e planning the process to me. Of anyone has to go through that I would highly recommend them.
Julie Copeland Barrows
Our dog Taz got an evaluation yesterday and we waited 5 plus hours out in our car because here were emergencies which delayed his tests. But he is going to be okay and that's all that matters. The doctors are great at VSS.
Hannah Schweiss
My dog hurt himself, badly. They were able to see him quickly and assess what was wrong. Recovery is going to be a long one but they have been so helpful in answering all my questions.
Tracy Friedle
We were recommended to this office by our vet for ACL surgery. While our dog had a great outcome from the surgery there was definitely a lack of customer service. There was never a follow up call to see how she was doing after the surgery. Post surgery instructions where never gone over upon pick up. We were just given written instructions. I only knew what to expect because of friends having had the same surgery on their dog. When the office did call it was only to check and make sure we were given all of the medication because they had an extra label printed. They never once asked how she was doing. Like I said the surgery turned out well it just was not the same level of care we get from our regular vet.
Amanda Rhoads
This veterinary clinic is truly comparable to the most well-run hospitals for people, I can't begin to express how impressed we were with everyone's knowledge, compassion, abilities, and efficiency! They rehabilitated one of my dogs who had been suddenly paralyzed in rare/uncommon accident, and after months and months of physical therapy, several times a week, he was able to walk again, and then over 10 years later (just this last Christmas 2019), saved another one of our family dog's lives when she quite suddenly required immediate emergency surgery. I would never hesitate to bring any of my pets here for emergency/specialty services, or to recommended them to anyone else in need of the same services/care!

So here is my complaint that keeps me from 5 stars…. I appreciate that during Covid keeping the waiting room to a minimum is necessary so the long wait in the parking lot I completely get. What I don’t get is that some circumstances such as euthanasia in my opinion could be handled with a little more empathy. Sadly I have had to put 2 pets down there, the first experience was as thoughtful as it could be…. a nice quiet, cozy living room experience to say goodbye. My most recent experience was totally the opposite and the one I was most trying to avoid…. a bright sterile metal table in a drab cold exam room. When I inquired I was told it was easier to clean. Well I get that, I work in healthcare, but a couch and pillows can be sprayed with lysol and wiped down with sani cloths. I don’t know how many pets they put to sleep daily but I imagine that some sort of sterilization can take place to make this available for goodbyes. Also when you are making the tough decision under duress to euthanize, can’t a family come to the desk and pay? Sending me a link to my email, sitting in my car sobbing while trying to figure out the link, enter my credit card information and complete the transaction while you are shaking and crying seems ridiculous. You’re coming in for the procedure why can’t you be compassionate enough to allow me to hand you my card with my shaking hands? I didn’t even take time to look at what I was paying for to be honest I was so flustered. I will say I have always respected the compassionate doctors and staff, they have a tough job to perform under pressure and they always take the time to give you as much information as they can. I was just really disappointed that my recent experience was so cold and sterile when saying goodbye to a longtime family member. I appreciate the concerns and regulations with Covid but if in the human world we can make medical emergencies more compassionate we can certainly do so in the veterinary world.

Initial care was good, follow-up not so much. I came in on a Saturday after another dog pushed its way under my fence and he was attacked. The wait was an hour, but that's not unexpected given the emergency treatment and the social distancing related to the COVID-19 threat. Once my dog was taken in, I was called by the vet and we talked about what happened and after my dog was checked out, we left with some antibiotics and pain medications and assurances that other than a puncture wound and some bruising, my dog should be okay.
The following Monday, I called to report that the wound my dog has was draining liquid a lot. There was a long hold time, so I left a message with as much detail as possible and repeated my name and phone number three times. The call was never returned.
On Tuesday, I called again but waited on hold. I spoke to a friendly woman who took my information and concerns and asked me to email a picture of the wound, which I did immediately. This time the call was returned after a little more than an hour, but they said that the picture was never received and I was told that if I had concerns, I should take my dog to his normal vet. Unfortunately, my regular vet has been very busy and unable to see my dog or I would have taken him there to begin with. I wasn't given any follow up information or anything that settled any of my questions and I am now left waiting until Friday for an appointment with my regular vet to determine if everything is healing okay or if I need further action.
Given the price of a relatively simple check-up (no x-rays), I would have liked to have gotten some better follow-up information and attention. I realize that they're busy and that things are strained with the current pandemic situation, but I just feel like my situation was not dealt with in a very professional fashion after the initial visit.

Triaged my kitten and got us in right away despite another animal hospital turning us away without triage. Immediately admitted my kitten due to severity and was kind enough to provide multiple options, forthrightness about cost, and prompt updates on status. If I ever have another pet emergency I will not be considering any other place to take my pets!

Amazing place! Wait was a bit crazy due to covid but my baby puppy who is had for under 72 hours (he got pneumonia and hadn't even had his first vet appointment yet, barely even had a chance to name him) is doing great! I couldn't be more thankful!
Is excellent knowing there's always someone available 24/7 so close by.

Everyone was super nice and caring. I took my sick cat in on the a day when it was 3 degrees and snowing heavily. Nobody wants to take their pet to an emergency vet and the decisions that need to be made. The doctor and staff were as understanding as they could be and made my difficult day a little bit easier. Thank you all so much!

Had an emergency with an over does of medications. They walked me through the process and helped ease my mind that my pooch was fine. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and I am very thankful to them. Also they helped my other pooch a couple years ago who ate a whole tray of brownies... not fun...

My dog has tore his ACL over a weekend so we could not go to our regular vet. We ended up at VSS and they were great. It took a while to get into see the Vet but he was clear about what was going on with our animal and didn't do more than was helpful that night, instead giving us all the information that was helpful and letting us go to our vet for everything else.

My dachshund had to have spinal surgery to be able to walk again and they did a great job. He has made a great recovery and is walking well.

My dog Lobo started breathing faster than normal and seemed out of sorts. After a lot of runaround from my regular vet (which is a whole other story), I was told to take him to VSS in Manchester as an emergency patient. After VSS got him inside (Covid rules - I had to hand him over and wait outside), they found a laundry list of life threatening issues. He had bladder stones, a terrible infection, and heart failure. I braced myself to hear the dreaded suggestion of euthanasia. While it was an option to do that, they were also willing to fight for him. So, I authorized hospitalization and bladder surgery to remove the stones. They got to work healing his infection and stabilizing his heart for surgery. He was hospitalized for days. He got his surgery, they got his infection under control, and got him on medications to help his failing heart. There were plenty of bumps during the whole process. Lobo continued to have issues with his heart and returned for more overnight stays for oxygen and monitoring. They finally found the right cocktail of heard meds to keep him out of active heart failure. His bladder healed. His infection resolved. At all times they were honest and forthright with what Lobo was facing. Not once did I feel pressured to make a decision one way or the other. I spoke with several different doctors there over the course of Lobo's ordeal, and they were all compassionate and helpful. Thankfully, Lobo is doing well with his medications and he's a happy dog once again. I know he's living on borrowed time as there is no cure for heart failure in dogs. But VSS gave me that time with him. I can never thank them enough.

Took dog for an emergency they took her right away. Had to wait 3 plus hours to get her back. In their defense they were extremely busy. My dog is all beyter (don't let your dog have clartin D)
They are still coming out to the car to get the pet.
Highly recommended!

I share the same sentiments as many of the other 5 star reviews for this business.
Doctors and staff great with communication and answering any questions I had. One of my 80 pound bundles of love got an ACL surgery 6 months ago here and it went smooth. Just had another incident where I was worried the same dog may have ingested antifreeze and VSS was knowledgeable and straightforward. All good news for the dog and am happy to have this place to go to even when I am just playing it safe and making sure.

My cat was sick, it was late night and I needed a vet fast. Veterinary Specialty Services Emergency Center to the rescue. This facility was great. The staff were professional. Communications was excellent. The price was reasonable. I would totally recommend using them. Thank you for helping my furry baby.

When my chihuahua got sick with IMHA I calles ahead and when I got there, staff was quick to take her back and figure out what was wrong. They saved her life at the time on labor day weekend. For a very deadly diagnosis, she actually went into remission for a little while and I got to have 6 more weeks with her before her illness relapsed and took her from me. I would not have had that without VSS. VSS is well equiped to deal with alot of things and I'm glad that my local vet referred me to them that day because without them I would have lost my dog suddenly and never had answers to what happened. Instead I had time to spend with her as well as a little bit of hope that she would survive and I was informed about what was wrong with her. They gave me a sense of closure that I would not have had otherwise.

Had an older dog (family member) with some severe health issues. The staff immediately greeted me with care and got me in a room. The doctor was fantastic and caring. She gave me all options available with no pressure. Even though I decided to put our dog down, the doctor and staff understood the emotional situation and got me through the process with love and care. It is a tough time at the end of your dogs life but they made it as loving and comfortable as possible for our dog and me. Thank you VSS

They were very caring with me and my Timber. I found out to late he had stomach cancer an was bleeding internally. They were there for me through the whole process and did everything I asked. I will always use them in the future And highly recommend Them too others.

My son and his family were out of town and I was watching my granddogs. I could tell something was wrong because he kept whining and breathing heavily. I took him to the clinic and he had pneumonia. Gave him meds and before my son returned home, he was already feeling better. I love that it's 24 hours. Highly recommend.

The toughest moment as a pet owner was putting our dog down after an unexpected diagnosis of progressive cancer. It was our first time at the clinic, but the awesome doctor and staff at VSS Made it so much easier. They were genuinely sympathetic and caring and made us feel comfortable with our decision, trusting that it was the best thing to do to help our dog. As heartbroken as we were, I am so thankful that they took care of us and our sweet dog.
I had an awesome experience calling them in the middle of the night couple years prior, by my friend's suggestion. The person that answered listened and stayed on the phone with me explaining in detail and asking questions to help. She comforted me and said to call back if I feel the need, even though we were not their patient. That call made me feel understood, respected as a pet owner. I wish other vets and vet.hospitals shared their passion.

I came in due to my dog having blood in his urine. I waited for 2 hours before the doctor came in. She then said she would come back shortly to check urine and do a rectal exam. I waited another hour before this was completed. I asked several times for time estimates for how long things would take and was not provided an answer.
The doctor was very good with my dog and very caring; however, the lack of warning about the wait time and lack of updates was very frustrating.

Unfortunately I had to visit on Saturday evening with my boy. The staff were amazing, I found them very professional, caring & compassionate. They made the best of what turned out to be an emotionally traumatic night somewhat easier. Dr Whiting was fantastic, you could tell she cared, she explained everything to me and showed genuine sympathy and concern.
Alas my baby did not leave with me but I received a sympathy card today, which was very unexpected and such a kind thing to do.
Definitely reccomend!

I brought my dog Pixie to VSS because she was having some breathing trouble and we couldn’t get into our veterinarian for a few weeks. My entire experience could not have went better. The receptionist was very nice (and very professional) and they got pixie in right away. Dr. Thompson was absolutely amazing. She was patient, answered all my questions, and did not push extra testing/services that weren’t needed. Even the virtual discharge/electronic payment process was an absolute breeze.
Thank you, VSS for taking good care of my baby!
Kathy Lewis
They got my puppy in relatively quickly as it was practically the middle of the night. Once he was in, they took GREAT care of him! I got update phone calls at least once a day....if not more often. They were very accommodating when I came to visit. I noticed that they were very kind and compassionate with those few around me who had lost their pets. When I came to pick my puppy up, everyone was very sweet making sure they all wished him luck and helped me get his healing little body safely in the car. I would recommend this group to anyone!

Our dog passed away at 1:00 am. They where wonderful about letting us spend a little extra time with him to say goodbye. Very caring and passionate staff members.

I brought my dog here in the middle of the night for a bot fly larvae diagnosis and removal. My dog has behavior problems from past abuse (rescue) and they were very understanding. They assured me (I had a lot of anxiety about him going in without me), and I didn't feel judged about his care like I sometimes do at other vets. They got the larvae out safely and he has healed well!
Susan Donnell
Our dog has congestive heart failure due to a worsening murmur. We had to bring him in as an emergency 3 times. Note that I said EMERGENCY. We waited up to an hour before he was brought into the hospital. His history is there for them to review...each time, after the first visit, different people (we weren't sure if they were doctors or techs) called us (in car due to covid) and asked why we were there. We were told the last time to call for an appt. With the cardiologist for a follow up. When I called, the receptionist said that the cardio doc was unavailable until late July. I am very disappointed. I know that they are very busy caring for our pets and probably have a hard time keeping tract of who's who in the parking lot, but ,So now our sweet sick dog cannot be treated until late July.
Katie Mcgaha
They were very kind when we had to take our cat to their emergency room in the middle of the night. We ended up having to put him to sleep that night and they were very compassionate and it helped make the experience not as terrible as it could have been.
horsesandjesus
Took my presa canirao mastiff there on 9/14/20. He exhibited excessive watery drool, lethery, and just a over all feeling of being sick. They did exam and a few tests. When we left I could tell he was already looking like he felt much better. He had to come home with meds but should make a full recovery! Overall I'd say I was very satisfied with the service. Other than not being able to come in with my baby it went very well!
Lauren Egan
Everyone here was amazing!! I woke up in a panic this Sunday morning to my kitty with a hurt paw and many places are closed. I am so glad I chose this place to help him. Such an efficient and kind staff! Price wasn't too bad either considering it was an emergency. Would absolutely recommend!
Janet Schaab
Well with Covid I had to sit outside in my car and the vet tech came out and got my cat. It didn't take long before the vet looked at Buddy and then called me on my phone and took time to explain what was going on with him and answered my questions. She was very caring and knowledgeable. The staff were also very nice and professional.

In a time when the whole world of vet med is short staffed, the team at VSS continues to show up and provide consistent, amazing care. Not only do they provide emergency care, they are also the only facility in the St. Louis area to reliably offer 24 hour supervision and intensive care for pets that need it. No St. Louis pet owner should take VSS for granted. Any visit to an emergency or speciality facility is hard, but always remember that if you’re waiting, it means your pet isn’t the sickest one there. VSS has saved my pets lives more than once before, and I’m sure they will again. I could not be more thankful for the team at VSS and my many experiences with them over the last several decades.

I had to take my dog on a Sunday because of a torn muzzle. His lip was hanging off his face. There a wait dur to lots of emergencies but he eventually got scene and treated. The suture job Dr. Mike did was amazing. I can't tell just his face was torn.
The dog looks like his normal self. The guys are artist.how badly
Beth Horton
I appreciate their 24 hour service! My dog was clearly in a lot of pain but all the daytime vets couldn't see us for a week (no fault of theirs - I know they are all short staffed right now). I ended up taking her to VSS on the advice of a vet friend and St Louis Animal Emergency Clinic (many thanks to the person who answers phones and told me to skip them and go straight to VSS). Turns out my dog has a herniated disc and was in more pain than a little bit of carprofen could help.
Michele Bautsch
The staff were very nice. We thought when walking in there was hope for our baby boy but after the doctor checked him out it was not looking good. The ladies were thoughtful and sympathic with our grief and helped us anyway they could. I just wish 😪 we could of saved of Boss Boy. We love you and miss you every second of the day. …

Very friendly and concerned. My beautiful basset has a bad cancer and was not doing well. They were so kind and explained to me the options. Not being ready to give her up, they prescribed her drugs to make her feel better and then they took the time to explain what signs we should look for that will tell us when it is time to let her go. Everyone we delt with there was very caring and helpful. Cost very reasonable.
Amber Heath
My dog had to get stitches in his face after getting attacked by another dog and the wait was a little long but they had some emergencies come in so it was understandable. They were very gentle with my not-so-nice pup and the price was very doable! Definitely will go here first if i ever have a pet emergency
Casey Kitchel
They are amazing here! Even with social distancing they are so caring and sweet! My dog had to have major surgery through this pandemic. We had already lost one dog. We didn't want to put we another if we could do anything about it! They were so understanding with my panic! Lol Truly a great place!

Our 11 year old pup was vomiting, lethargic and had rectal bleeding. Our regular vet couldn't see him that day and suggested VSS. They got him in right away and put him on an IV for dehydration. I thought he had pancreatitis like he'd had twice before. VSS wasn't so sure. They ran blood work and they were right. Xrays showed a darkened enlarged liver and heart. They kept him in the hospital overnight so he could be observed overnight and to give him an ultrasound the next morning. Unfortunately he is terminal with cancer of the liver and adrenal gland. VSS ended up sending him home the 3rd day with medications and said to take him to our regular vet in 3 to 5 days. They said they don't know how long he will live. It could be weeks or months. VSS was expensive but they were upfront about the cost and let us decide what tests we wanted. Very sad but we thought VSS was very good and kept us very informed. They called both mornings he was in the hospital to update us on how he was doing.
Rebecca Wilson
Quick appointments. Caring staff. Explained my dogs heart problems and treatment. Tests are not cheap but my little guys life is important to us so we save up for visits and monthly medicine. Follow up tests reassure us that his condition is not getting worse. Peace of mind is worth a lot.
Jessica Vance
My Beagle mix started not eating and having other odd symptoms today (bloody poop, vomiting, extra lethargic) and I was so happy to find a vet near me open 24 hours on holidays! They ran some tests on my baby girl and she's mostly ok, just going to be on some antibiotics and a mild food diet for a few days, but I'm so glad I didn't have to wait til my regular vet opens back up on Monday; I would have been a nervous wreck until we got her checked out.
Everyone I spoke with was so kind and helpful, and they seemed so sweet with my little diva. Sent us home with suggestions for what she should eat, even a few cans of dog food to supplement her food with that will be gentle on her tum. They even have very specific guidelines for keeping patients organized in their parking lot since pet parents aren't allowed inside at the moment, and I would highly recommend VSS if your pup needs to get checked out when your regular vet isn't open!
Christina Hines
They took my dog immediately after a very bad accident and several doctors consulted and reviewed his case before they made any decision when treating him. The staff is very busy but very friendly and focus solely on you, I feel. They're trained and I will continue to use the practice. I wish they had payment plans but other than that the facility is immaculate, the doctors are skilled, and everyone from reception to techs are fantastic.

They take our pets' health very seriously. The doctors are very patient and take the time to explain things and answer questions without rushing. I feel that they truly care about each individual pet and owner. We have a special, rare issue with our puppies. The doctors are very attentive and seek outside guidance from veterinary universities as needed.
Mike
We woke this morning, New year's day to find our 16 yr old dalmatian was no longer able to stand, and seemed to be in pain. I checked the web as we all do and this was the closest place to go. We arrived there, and were greeted by a kind smile. We were taken to a room where a nurse did an initial exam. As it was 6am they were going thru a shift change so the Dr did not show up right away. However Dr Mike was very kind and caring. He told us what was probably going on and helped us make the necessary decision for our old dog. He told us what he was going to do, and asked if we wanted to be present. When it was over, they brought our dog out wrapped up in a blanket, and gently places her in the truck. Everyone was extremely kind, and professional. I can't offer higher praise. Top notch.
Nan Starling
Although we had to wait quite some time, the service and facilities were excellent. The veterinarian was through and knowledgeable.. All the staff was very caring to our pet and us.
Seth Wolfmeyer
They took great care of my dog, Ginger, and her eye problems. The staff who helped us were compassionate and caring.
Kaitlin Johnston
My pet mouse, ducky, was incredibly sick from a congenital deformity that was unknown to me. I brought her to this vet because they were open for 24 hours and it was very late at night when I noticed. Thsy were very sweet and caring of my situation, even thpugh they didn't see small animals in too often. In the end, there was nothing they could do for her and she passed away the next morning, but I'm grateful that the staff tried and even reccomended me resources for other places more knowledgeable on exotic pets. They didn't even charge me for the initial look at her because they were unable to treat her. These people clearly care about animals and their owners enough to try anything and admit early on if there are more experienced places for your pet to go.
Bryan Adams
Transparent throughout the whole process with morning and evening calls to give updates on my cats wellness. Slightly pricey but that's the cost of an emergency.
Joe Platz
Great care for our dog and open 24/7. Professional and empathetic. Only downside is they are very busy and at times difficult to get in touch with due to long hold times on the phone tree.
Anna Risse
These people saved my boy. Wonderful, friendly, well mannered staff. The vet was knowledgeable, very down to business, and he had my dog's best interest at heart. Their prices are fair, especially for an emergency care clinic, and comparable to the vets I normally visit. I'd go again if another emergency was to happen.
Steve Zumwalt
Accessible 24 hrs. Extremely compassionate staff. They were there when we needed them. They also walked us through every step of the procedures.
Excellent care and service at a very difficult time.
HakusSpiritMaiden
Dr. Oz and her team were very helpful in our hard time. They gave us space and were very considerate. They got us in quickly and helped ease our pain as much as they could.
Julie Glossenger
Our dog had a severe reaction to a bee sting and their facility was able to see him without a wait. Everyone we worked with was pleasant, professional, and reassuring. He recovered completely with their guidance :) Highly recommend the location in Manchester.
Lisa Rey
Showed up at 2:30am for an allergic reaction with my dog. The lady that came and got my dog was fantastic. She didn't let him scare her and he was skiddish but felt comfortable going with her. Being half asleep I couldnt find his collar and they let me borrow a slip leash to use. Would recommend and use again.
Jeremy Pekarek
First time, had an emergency with my dog. My regular vet could not find anything. The vet is very knowledgeable, compassionate, understand, very kind. I would recommend them. My pup was at VSS for 4 days. I felt he received a lot of attention (he is a very handsome man ). When he was discharged Monique the vet tech who brought Maverick out was EXTREMELY friendly, compassionate, helpful, just a well rounded person. Trying to fill his prescription was a bigger challenge than I anticipated. But calling VSS speaking to Christine' in the call center. OMG she went above and beyond, to help. She is a very extraordinary individual. Not only saving me hundreds if not thousands of dollars on Maverick's medication. I was literally blown away with her persistence to help make it right. I graciously thank everyone at VSS. I would recommend them to anyone, everyone.
Capt. Gray Beard
This place was wonderful! My 16 yr old Dalmatian was in pretty bad shape. From the front desk, to the nursing staff, to the Dr, everyone was compassionate, caring and kind. It's sad to say she was at the end of her long life, however Faith was treated extremely well, like she was their puppy to. I cannot say enough good about this place. It where I wish I had taken all my dogs and cats.
Floyd Harrison
We can tell you that this animal hospital is a great place for your pet. Even though we had to put our best friend down, they did everything to find a solution to incurable illness. Dr Jeremy Shomper , helped us. You could here the kindness and care in his voice. The other staff we also great. You may contact us 🇺🇸 …
Alan Hoyt
Didn't make a physical visit, but I called the 24/7 line late night on a weekend and Makayla answered and provided advice on whether or not I should bring my dog in for an emergency visit. She provided some guidance on how to treat the issue and said she didn't think it warranted visiting the office. Great service and no oversell to come in and spend $$. They'll be my first call/visit if I need anything urgently in the future!
Mike
Overall it was a pretty good experience however they were quite pricey and it was an emergency visit I understand that it had to be a little on the expensive side but I would have never bet that expensive. The downside other than the money was the fact that we were there for 4 hours waiting. They were a lot of nice people there though.
CJ Wagner
When we took our dog there, they took his history and looked him over, and made their recommendations. They were very honest and upfront about not ordering extra tests that were unnecessary. It didn't require surgery, although another vet wanted to perform surgery. They didn't think it was necessary. So, I can't say anything about their surgical skills. But our experience was a good one.
Cindy Zimmer
They have been amazing! We have lost 3 dear pets within 4 months. The doctors, and technicians had such compassion for our loss. Thank you again for caring❤VSS.
Larry O'Leary
It was our first visit here. Everything went smoothly and they seemed genuinely focused on caring for the pet. The doctor and staff were very professional and explained the care plan very well. They did not rush through things and made sure that all of our questions were answered.
We will definitely be going back!
Jay S
First time there ...the service and canine care was extremely professional and knowledgeable. My baby might have broken her paw but by the xrays was a bit much for me at the time ($200) I went ahead and agreed with a splint until she see her vet. $95 for the visit and $78 for the splint. First puppy in a long time and first time ever taking one to a hospital ...so the price may have been expensive for a puppy but won’t know that until I shop around to determine if I will be back....but all in all very highly recommended cause the staff is amazing . It was worth every cent ..cause they did make sure she was comfortable and well taken care of.... Thanks a lot very appreciated

My 2 year old English Bulldog and her 3 puppies were having severe GI complications for a little over 3 weeks. I had seen my home veterinarian as well as a second veterinarian in another town with no answers. The front desk ladies at the veterinary office in my hometown seemed to disregard everything I told them and told me to stop self diagnosing my dogs and stay off of the internet. I was very sure of what it was making my dogs sick but no one would listen, and I couldn’t get the medicine I needed without a prescription. Finally, after barely getting my oldest girl to eat or drink for a couple of days she started having nonstop severe liquid bloody diarrhea and it was very alarming. The puppies soon followed and I thought I was going to lose them all from dehydration. I searched google for an emergency GI specialist and I found this office and called right away and immediately knew I made the right choice. The receptionist wanted to know every detail of what had been going on, as well as both veterinarian’s contact information so she could call and see what records they had. She actually LISTENED to me and believed what I told her and truly cared, it was so reliving to finally have hope of this being solved. When I arrived at the office Dr. Ozment ran the tests necessary in identifying the cause and was very upfront about prices beforehand. She was thorough and kind and made sure all of our questions were answered. After confirming it was in fact the parasitic infection I had mentioned before I was finally were able to get the medicine needed as well as fluids for our girl who was in very rough condition at this point. I truly had a great experience and can finally feel peace that my dogs are finally on the path to feeling better.

Excellent! The wait was long but was told upfront it could be. Very busy time but I was confident my cat was in the best hands anywhere. They are very thorough!
The staff are very kind and understanding.
1st class!

Closed to public due to covid. Appointment was made and wait was not to long. Staff comes out to get your pet and let me say they did a excellent job. If your pet is having health issues give them a call.
Melisse Fowler
This is not your average Veterinary office, so don't try to take your pet there for a routine exam. This is a place for SPECIALISTS to evaluate your pet, & for EMERGENCIES. The staff is very efficient & professional. The doctors I have dealt with are very compassionate, but provide you with all of the information needed to make informed decisions.

Be prepared to spend your child's college tuition if you have an emergency. We went here because it was the number listed on our vet's website for after hours. Our dog broke his shoulder. They sedated him, did two x-rays, and then told us he would need surgery. They quoted the surgery at $3900. We were stunned. That's when we asked them to splint him so we could take him home. They didn't want to, but they did. Just that part was $375. In the morning we called our own vet's office. I asked her about alternatives. They did not offer that type of surgery, but she suggested another vet outside the county that might be cheaper. The other vet quoted $625 for the entire surgery. It made the decision easy. There is no legitimate reason for a price gap that wide. In my opinion, the company is taking advantage of people. On a positive note, they were polite, competent, caring, and professional. If money is not a concern, use them.
Nancy J
If you have an emergency situation with your pet I highly recommend them. Everyone is so caring and friendly. Obviously wish we could go in with our pet but with covid I'm glad they're keeping everyone safe.
Alan Ramsey
We have used the emergency room here several times and the care has been great. We also used Veterinary Specialty Services to perform surgery on our dog. They replaced both knees on our Labradoodle and the outcome was great. Both knees never gave her problems again. All the doctors and staff are kind, caring and professional.
J Gates
Had an emergency visit during the Covid shut down. The medical staff here, performed tasks efficiently and kept me informed throughout the process. I stayed in my car and they took my dog inside for his visit. If I need emergency vet services again, we will go back to this location.
Beth Rolufs
My pup got sick in the middle of the night and there are no emergency services near where I live. So I called to let them know I was on my way. They called back a few minutes later to give me the names of places that might be closer. They were still the closest and we're so kind from beginning to end.

When your pet is in distress, there is no better place to go. VSS staff did an amazing job explaining the issue and treatment options along with the financial costs.
Ashley Donley
I've brought my dog into this location several times - on evening/weekends when the regular vet is closed. The location looks very new, and is kept spotless. The vets and techs are incredibly friendly and patient with their animal patients. The best part for me is they get you in and out quickly - I've almost always been headed home in less than an hour, even when the pup had to be taken to the back for treatment. I've heard horror stories from other pet owners about waiting hours at other local emergency vet clinics just to be seen - not at VSS!

Our kitten was treated immediately and though the bill was expensive, it justified the late hours and efficient service. However, I have to give three stars due to the attitude of the lady who presented our bill. When hearing we got our baby kitten from a breeder, she said "nothing wrong with breeders" stressing "nothing wrong" and reiterated the phrase later on, which made me feel very uncomfortable. I don't understand why we should be judged only because our kitten was from a cat breeder. We never purchased cats from backyard breeders and do love rescue cats as well. Breeder cats have the same right to be loved by human beings. Since when rescuing a pet has become the bar of becoming a pet owner? Don't all pets deserve loving care from the staff?
Christina Menossi
The veterinary care our cat received here is unmatched. They called every mornings with updates, we were allowed to visit, and they didn't stop diagnosing until they were able to find out what was wrong with our cat. The waits to visit were sometimes a little long, but that was something they informed us of from the start. Our cat ended up being diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease (along with a couple other complications) but ultimately had to have an e-tube placed to make sure he's getting food. He's still got the e-tube and I will admit there's a lot to it and it makes me a nervous wreck every time I have to replace the bandaging. They always take my calls even now. The only part I'm a little frustrated with is that they don't do follow-up appointments, they want you to follow-up with your regular vet. I understand they're an emergency & referral clinic - but coming from someone who trusted my cat to them for 6 days in their ICU, I would personally prefer if they did at least the first follow-up to make sure the e-tube is still placed properly, but that's just my preference. Still 5 star care for your pet and 100% worth the cost knowing they're getting the best care possible. Thank you for everything you did for our cat!

My dog Crash received excellent care there when he had gotten into some decon. They went above and beyond to get him through this crisis. He is doing well and I couldn't be more grateful. He was in their care for 8 days and nights receiving around the clock care. Thank you all staff with you wise and caring service.🐶😚😚 …

The saddest day ever with our beautiful, wonderful, 11 year old Siberian Husky; Whiskey was on August 6th; he was suddenly diagnosed with a blood disease that showed no prior signs but it was unstoppable and it took him away from us. No one is prepared for that kind of news or having to make that decision 😪 but the entire staff at VSS was amazing; they helped us through the entire process. God Bless all of you and we love you and miss you Whiskey 😘

Update: Had the PTLO surgery 3 yrs ago. Still going strong, no additional issues. No problem with other leg which is very common. I was strict with the rehab, result: she's 100%.
Impressed with the Specialist, he was very thorough and did a good job explaining what needed to be done and what options I had. I didn't feel pressured, more assured about my decision by giving me as much info as possible. The reception staff are friendly but the lady taking care of me was a bit scattered. Busy place, overall I'd recommend VSS for things your Vet can't do. Pricing: this place isn't cheap but they do accept dog insurance or you can apply for credit care. My only beef was they gave me a price quote, low & hight range. My dogs surgery was less complicated than expected. My bill was the high quote. Why bother with a low & high quote then, you're just disappointed when the bill arrives. No clear explanation given. Hopefully, it will be worth it then the several thousand spent is money well spent.

Dr. Sycamore has transformed my dog back into the dog he was before getting sick. He battled EPI for 18 months. She began caring for him in November and within two weeks he acted like a completely different dog. Family and friends were very impressed when they saw him over the holidays.
Brittany Danielle
Amazing staff that are very attentive. Worth the price! They even gave our puppy StL Blues bandage.

I honestly don't know where to begin. Due to Covid-19, procedures are new. The staff is amazingly friendly. When I brought my puppy Baska in, you had to wait in the parking lot for a vet tech to come get your animal. When Erica came and got Baska out of the car I could tell they cared about animals and are receptive to animals feelings. So, thank you Erica! Secondly, the Doctors are fantastic as well. Communication is key to a successful business and that's what happened here. I had brought Baska in during shift change. Dr. Sherman and Dr. Black were extremely friendly and helpful. Explained everything that was going on and that it may take a little longer because of shift change. They called and followed up on each step to include options such as in or outpatient care and that my puppy was fine to come home. We recieved care instructions that are very clear and medicine suggestions that help owners wallets. Thanks again VSS!

3 weeks ago, we had to help our baby girl, Cricket, cross the rainbow bridge. She had just turned 7 but was in kidney failure. It was 4AM on a Sunday morning. Everyone was very caring and helpful. When we got her ashes, they had included a paw print....it was soooo appreciated
Thank you to all involved

My dog cut her foot on something outside, so we had to make an emergency visit here on a week day late at night. Receptionist, tech, and vet were all fantastic. Great service and fair prices. Will definitely be back if needed.
Samantha Sherrill
We unfortunately had to put our dog down and the staff was amazing. They offered snacks and to keep an eye on our son while we had to make tough decisions. Not only did they make sure our pup was comfortable during his last moments, they took care of us as well.
John Ruxlow
We had to have our dog put down as she was having heart failure and other issues. People were very polite and professional. Cremation seemed very expensive other than that they were good.m
Erik
Compassionate yet very direct and honest staff. During a time of crisis with our pet, they were outstanding. Thank you, and we will not hesitate to reach out when needed in the future.
Tim Keeney
VSS has helped our dogs and, just as importantly, us through some difficult times. This review covers our experience over the past 10+ years with three Labrador Retrievers. VSS's doctors and staff are always professional and compassionate and skilled in diagnosing and treating emergent and severe illness and disease and they've helped us handle end of life issues with patience and kindness while providing frank and pragmatic advice. I not only recommend them but urge anyone whose pet has serious and complicated issue to take them to VSS.
Julie Flynn
Super fast action and amazing skills and care saved our dog's life when he bloated. They were waiting for us in the parking lot with a gurney and rushed him in, assessed, and immediately went into surgery. Their ICU care was also extraordinary. Thank you, VSS. They also did an amazing job on a non life threatening emergency last year. Longer wait, because they were helping actual life threatening emergencies first. We love VSS.
Patti Pashia
Given the sercumstances the staff there was phenomenal. Very sympathetic. Even when i called to let them know i was coming 2 pick up my cat so I could bury him they was just very nice and Expressed there sympathy for me. I would highly recommend them for any emergency. And I want them 2 know that I'm very greatful for everything they did for me. Thank u,u guys r very strong people to do what u do, and I couldn't b more grateful.

We can't thank Dr. Marshall and VSS enough for their diligence in diagnosing and treating our dog. He was suffering for several days with passing out episodes and was diagnosed with heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, medication will treat him and he will be fine! We are so grateful to have these answers and for you taking care of our precious SugarBear he is SO loved! Thank you!
Madi
Extremely nice and caring staff, quick, and helpful. ER also is great for a pet ER. Never felt as if they were being dishonest and trying to milk treatment for cash as I've experienced at other places.
Dianna Joan
I had to put my sweet boy Rudy to sleep. He was bleeding internally from a cancer. EVERYONE was so kind, I never ever felt that Rudy was not cared for with kindness. They brought me in a room with a couch so i could hold my boy while he went to the bridge. They gave me time to say goodbye. They never rushed me. They helped Rudy and I however they could to make it as easy as humanly possible. Thank you so very much. Everyone, from the front staff, to those that handled Rudy, to the Doctor, to the person who took him from my arms and kissed him, was amazing.
Matthew Maniaci
We went to their emergency department for our cat. The vet was very friendly and helpful, as were the desk staff. They got everything worked out for our kitty and sent us on our way with meds to help fix her up. Highly recommend.
SUSAN HART
They were friendly quick in seeing and evaluating my dog They took excellent care of her expensive but understandable. They made My Candy Better. That's #1. I Thank them. Awesome and Loving Service
Robert Guadagno
We had a scary situation with our dog and they were there to help (happily, it was nothing serious). I hope we'll never have to see them again, but if we do, I'm beyond happy they are there!!
Natalie Dailey
My 9 yo cat was ill & I was unable to get her in to see a local vet. The staff at VSS took excellent care of her and kept me informed of what was happening even though I was not allowed in the building.
Julius Schweich
The coordination between VSS Dr.
Saunders and Millis Veterinarian Dr.
Jill Rodis has kept my old dog alive. AND they take the time to explain what I must do
to keep her going.

Our Great Dane was very sick and our vet referred us to go to the city. After about 24 hours, they had him feeling so much better. Very grateful that they worked their magic on our big boy!
shelly mccormack
My parents brought their very injured dog here. He survived but is ready for another little tune up. Poor doggy. I'm hoping to get Bonkers there very soon so he can have a better and less painful way of life. He's a sweetheart!
Megan Krummrich
We got a new puppy and he, unfortunately, was diagnosed with Parvo but the people at VSS were amazing. The took a referral from our vet and were waiting for us in the parking lot when we arrived. Us humans had to wait about an hour while they assessed how he was. They gave us options and estimates (that were a little less than reality but close) and they took very food care of him and were punctual with their morning calls to give us updates and the techs were very patient and understanding whenever I would call in the evening. My dog is released and doing wonderfully and I credit VSS entirely for that. I can't thank them enough
Shane Braly
I'm glad to have access to a business like this. It's more cost effective than emergency hours at a normal Veterinarian's office that I've paid in the past. Past that, I received very friendly and professional service in my hour of need.
Alexandria Davis
I have never, ever in my life been more pleased with a veterinarian office in my life. I am new to the area, and my little dog (9lb) snuck under the fence and got attacked by 2 large breed dogs. In my panic, at 830pm, I couldnt find an emergency vet by typing just that in google so I called the first open vet I saw. they were closing in 10 minutes but sent me to VSS. I rushed in, not thinking to call first. when I arrived all I could say was my dog needs help now! he was so injured i could not get a good view of what exactly was hurt. They immediately rushed us to a room and got a vet in the room with us. they gently wrapped him up in the bedding in his crate and carried him to the back to check him out. they came back and told us they were wanting to do an xray to check for internal damage, and his wounds definitely needed stitches and potentially drains. They gave me an estimate of $1,300 to do xrays, keep him overnight, all meds, put him under, clean and repair the wounds, and place drains. The next day I picked him up, and the bill was only 1,000. Before stitches got removed he had a blood clot push out of one and I called to ask about it and they had me email pictures then a vet called me to discuss it. We went in once to remove the drains, and then to remove the stitches and they did not charge me anything else. I called multiple times with questions or concerns and they handled it wonderfully. When we went back in for the stitches to be removed he was feeling better and has been anxious about people and dogs since the attack, he was not very nice to the vet tech that came to get him, but she just let him bark and stooped to his level to show him he wasnt a threat and he ended up going to her willingly. They NEVER judged me for him getting attacked or his bad attitude. they treated me with respect and genuinely cared about the well being of my little man. hands down, if I need an emergency vet in this area I would go there time and time again. The price was beyond reasonable for emergency services, and the compassion they have for animals was off the charts. Thank you VSS for saving my best friend ♡
Mary Schmitt
The staff was very efficient. I could tell that they really cared about your pet. Everything about my dog was explained thoroughly with compassion.
Alex Heath
My dog had bad diarrhea and vomiting all night, and I was probably overreacting when I arrived with him at 4:30 am. I know I was crying more than a non-life-threatening problem merited. The staff at VSS was kind and professional, got all the information they needed, and treated me and my dog well. I had to leave him while I went to school, and they kept me updated about his condition and test results. I appreciated getting a copy of his record and blood work results to keep (I asked for the blood work record; that may not be standard).
When I picked up my dog the next day, I could tell he had been well cared-for. I would definitely take him back there for another emergency. He's so much better now, and loves the bland diet he's on for the next few days!
Amy Bard
We took our puppy to VSS a week ago in severe pain. Everyone we met in the emergency clinic were very nice and knowledgeable and super sweet to our puppy. He stayed and was transferred to neurology in their critical care clinic. They were also extremely nice, callled us every morning with updates, were patient as we asked a million questions and helped us to make informed decisions when it was time to have surgery. We especially want to thank Dr. John Gagnepain for all his help and patience, he was fantastic. VSS made us feel so much better while being away from our dog and took great care of him.
Marc Treppler
Awesome, love VSS and the Staff, my baby Papillon needed surgery for enlarged spleen, everything was perfect from the consult to the operation, post op and home care. Follow-up and attentions to detail is excellent, never had to wonder. Very large staff here and large place, this is not your typical Vet but an Animal Hospital. Baby is doing well a month after. Photos on the wall of others before me attest to the excellent work and make you cry as you can see the impact that the excellent care has had on the families of pets. Highly recommended.
Earl Cagle
This was a great experience for us. The staff was very pleasant and wanted to assure that we understood everything that our pet went through. They took very good care of my pet who was very sick. I highly recommend them for your pets care.
Christina Blackwell
Very expensive, but very thorough. They really check everything when your pet is sick/having health issues. The staff is nice and explains things clearly.
Catherine Lauer
We brought our four month old lab puppy into the VSS last night after he had gotten into rat poison. They immediately took him back and began treatment on him. We were constantly given updates and they did everything they could to assure us that he would be ok. We had full confidence in their ability to treat our puppy, everyone we encountered was very professional and personable, and we couldn't be more thankful that we brought him to the VSS. In one of the scariest nights of my night, the VSS was beyond fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.
Erika G
I had a great experience with Dr. Fagan and the oncology team. Appointment was on time, and the techs were very gentle with my cat during his exam. Dr. Fagan spent a long while thoroughly explaining my cat's diagnosis and all the available options. She was very empathetic and supportive in a difficult situation. I didn't feel rushed at all. Thank you to VSS!
Cathy Buerk
They are good but expensive. For after hours, they don't take appts so your wait could take 2 to 3 hours. They take animals in order of severity thus the wait, if your animal is not critical. But they are emergency services after hours, open 24 hours. We've taken 3 dogs there over the years.
Rhonda Lyons
They are very compassionate. This is the second Weimaraner I have brought to them. The first one was a senior and they gave us 2 More years with him. Now as I sit here knowing we are going to lose this battle very soon with lymphoma they are keeping him very comfortable. When I brought him in there was no waiting even though they were busy. They saw he was in distress and they took him back right away. They triage which is why you may have to wait. Thank you for giving me more time with my Duke.
Jasper Dragon
Over the years have taken several dogs here when an emergency arises. Always courteous and so much they can do to help. You leave feeling they always did more than just looking over your dog be it a surgery, shots, they have the ability to do so much.
Barbara Raymer
Dr. Graham and Jessica take exceptional care of my Jersey!
Susan Stuhlsatz-Reese
My diabetic dog started vomiting and quit drinking one Saturday morning. We got him to his regular vet office right away, and after x-rays and no answers we were referred to VSS and Dr. Karagiannis. I'd heard that it could be a minimum of 2K for care at a place like this. I was pleasantly surprised to discuss a multi-day care plan and find the estimate less than that amount. After all, this is a 24 hour ICU with a vet who specializes in critical care and emergency medicine and that's what we needed. My dog was stabilized, received testing unavailable anywhere else and the care plan was changed when needed. We were communicated with on a regular basis and able to visit daily. The team was professional and kind. Best of all, the problem was identified, a non surgical option worked and saved my diabetic dog from possible surgical complications and saved us money.
Jacqueline Mckibben
They were very kind and very thorough and as well as very understanding and sympathetic and were very patient as I was an emotional wreck when I brought my dog in. But he's doing slot better thanks to them.
Jen Martin
Dr. Lee is amazing! It’s hard to find a vet able to treat rabbits (especially in the middle of the night). Very quick treatment and extremely helpful with all of my questions. I’m extremely grateful for his help along with the other vet technicians!! My bun is very happy this morning :)
Roni Aguirre
Saw my dog for a neurological emergency but won't refer into their neurologist??? I have to wait for the referral from my regular vet to go through even though my dog is urgent. It's been more than 3 weeks with no hope of speeding up the process. Unacceptable. Urgent is urgent.
debra belton
They've always been there when I've needed them. Excellent service and kind staff.
Brett Richardson
An excellent facility for those who need to go this route. My dog managed to have his spleen fold over on itself. We were sent here by our normal vet for a 2nd opinion X-Ray. We showed up at 7pm on a Sunday, and were gone by 830. Excellent crew and facility.
Robert Gore
Our Puggle was VERY sick - lethargic, vomiting and diarrhea with blood in both. She's 13yo and we were afraid for the worst. VSS took her in, triaged her, and kept her about 24hrs for IV fluids and other meds. By the time we picked her up, she was almost back to her normal self! They sent home meds to continue at home and she has been doing great since!
Thank You to the doctors, techs, and all the staff at VSS!!
Maddy
Excellent care for my cat and top notch safety protocols for the pandemic. The doctor explained things to me in great detail and the staff provided awesome service. 100% recommend.
Steve Hobbs
I took my cat there who was in very poor health. After much deliberation, we decided to euthanize him. As painful and awful as that experience was, VSS made it as respectful and considerate as one could reasonably ask. I will cherish my last moments with my pet thanks to them. They have my eternal gratitude for that.
alizeh
My cat, who is almost 3 years old, was rushed here after learning that he had a neurological problem. He turned out to have a huge cyst in his brain. We had to choose whether to put him to sleep or go through with surgery, which he has a 25% chance of living through. The doctors here were so caring and helped him. He ended up alive and I cannot be more thankful that we chose to bring him here. He is now home and safe and happy with us again!
Dorothy
The entire staff that I saw were very courteous to me. They treated my dog Raven very kindly. Dr. Marshall explained the procedure and results to me in layman terms. The check in and check out staff and call center were nice.
Paul Hodges
Great service, nothing bad to say. They took good care of our baby, and didn't pull any surprise charges. Masked curb service, friendly explanation of meds and follow up care. I recommend them.
Reyna Alfaro-Joya
Great people. Unfortunately I met them at a really bad time , my dog wasn’t feeling well. They were very professional and explained everything in the best possible way. I will continue to come here for veterinary treatment for my emergency needs for my pets. I would highly recommend them and their location.
Andrea waugh
Super nice if your pet is hurt and you need urgent care. Pricing is very reasonable. I brought my cat last minute, turns out he didnt need stitches but for er visit and meds it was only $140 bucks. I was expecting 2-300 at the very least.
Jenny Mayberry
We went through the hardest day putting our sweet girl down, and VSS helped make it as bearable as possible. They were very kind and helpful throughout out process.
Sydney Crawford
Absolutely amazing staff.. even though Andy did pass, they did everything humanly possible to try to save her. I understand they don't specialize in birds, but they did an amazing job for what it was worth. Super amazing staff and caring. I love them all.
Alyssa Carr
Amazing service!! They love and care for every animal that walks in!! We were referred by another hospital and will now come back with any emergency we have, instead of anywhere else. I can not explain enough of how great this place and the people are. They saved my dog when she had very little odds of surviving. They are honest and great about the quoted prices they give you. Honestly cheaper than other hospitals weve been to. IM AM SO GREATFUL FOR THE TEAM AT VSS!💗
George West
The operation was a success. Complications were addressed by the surgery but sometimes it doesn't work. We had to let our pet go and the staff was so compassionate to our feelings. Making it a little easier. Thank you for all you do for our kid's, furiend's, pets.
Isabel Martinez
My dog had surgery there. The people who work there are very nice. They answer all you questions and explain everything they are going to do. They offer emergency services. If your pet stays overnight you can call the emergency number to know how is doing. I am very happy with them
Theresa Loebl
truly love animals and are THERE for emergencies. I have taken 2 of my doggos there, one had to be euthanized, the other had terrible diarrhea, but came home. Both got excellent care
Joanna Wideman
This place is absolutely fantastic. It was recommended when we found out our dog has cancer. They treat pets like family and I know our dog is always in good hands. We love his oncologist, Dr. Fagan. She's so good with him and he goes with her without hesitation. Dr. Marshall treated him for pneumonitis when he developed it after heartworm treatment at another veterinary office. We also choose to have her do his second treatment because we knew he was going to be so much better off at VSS with their caring and attentive staff. We hope to keep Gatlin for a long time and if anyone can help us do that, we know it's VSS. I would not take our dog anywhere else.
Cyndi Himstedt
This is the best emergency vet I've ever used. They are professional, kind and quick. Well never go anywhere else unless I'm out of town.
Corey Bailey
Our Maine Coon got into a massive accident and had to have surgery. I called VSS after seeing the nearest emergency vet, and they were super helpful over the phone. When we arrived they examined our cat as soon as we arrived to see the severity. Doctor Eisele told us about the procedure, gave us multiple estimates, and was extremely helpful. She called us as soon as the surgery was completed, and again for an update. The staff was very helpful as well! Luckily our cat is doing well despite the surgery and traumatic event. I can’t thank Dr Eisele enough!
Amy Henke
Everyone who works here clearly loves animals. They kept me updated on my dogs condition and treatment plan on a daily basis. Letting me visit every evening was a huge relief as I waited for him to improve enough to go home.
sprudo
Our pooch had torn her ACL & meniscus tendons on her rear leg. VSS did a great job with TPLO surgery on her. We're 2 weeks out from surgery and starting her physical therapy. So far, so good. I can't say enough good things about VSS, they are very good at what they do and the staff is very friendly as well. Overall a great place to bring your beloved pet for specialized work!
Jill V
I have brought both of my Chihuahuas here for emergency and specialty services. The doctors and staff are always wonderful and helpful. And the true testimony is that my dogs love them too.

COME HERE FOR YOUR EMERGENCY VET NEEDS!
After a terrible day in which we walked out of another emergency vet after 3 hours of terrible "care" we came here stressed and upset hoping for better care.
And boy did we get it. They were so much busier than the atrocity we left yet got us into a room immediately. Then a very short time later a tech was in to get vitals and what we were in for (an infected ear on our lab). Then a very reasonable time later Dr. Ozment came in and fully understood what was going on and treated our old girl as if she were her own.
Kind, compassionate, competent and quick to help. Just what you'd hope to get at a Vet. All at a cheaper price than what was quoted to us by the hacks at the other place.
Thank you Veterinary Speciality Services!
Amy Serbus
The staff at VSS has been super helpful in attempting to figure out what is wrong with my dog--they've been very comprehensive with updates, patient while I explain symptoms/random things I've found on PetMD, and have made it a point to follow up with additional questions, checking in on the dog to see if there's any improvements/changes/etc.
Whatever is going on with the pup hasn't been able to diagnosed yet, but the doctors at VSS are determined to figure it out, and that is so very appreciated.
As far as pricing goes, VSS is within range for other vets in the area, and they provide a quote prior to providing care (which is awesome, that way you have some idea of the financial impact)

My furbaby had been neutered earlier in the day and with the help of his brother we ended up rushing to VSS. Both myself and my fiancee were terrified he was gonna bleed out by the time we got there. They tech, I didn't get her name, was kind and calming. She could tell we both were very concerned and scared. They immediately took him back. With our composure gathered Dr.Bowen came to speak with us. She was kind, reassuring and most of all showed compassion and respect to us. She cleaned up my furbaby gave him some antibiotics and pain meds. Now 36hrs later the swelling has gone down he isn't in pain and is his usual loving chatty monster. I can't thank them enough for what they did for our family. Derp says he is sorry for trying to help his brother heal. Loki is thankful to not be in any more pain. We are so very blessed to have had the team at VSS there when we needed them. Thank you so much.
Kathy Travis
This place is awesome when you really have a sick fur baby. My dog has congestive heart failure and he's not that old. He now has a cardiologist who cares for him. He's doing great and is back to running and playing, enjoying his life.
Alexandra P.
They saved my dog Pippa this summer and it meant everything to our family. They not only saved our dog but had compassion towards how much pain it was causing our family to see our dog at the edge of death. We are so grateful for their services and highly recommend them if you are facing a pet emergency.
Future Imaging
Very professional, compassionate and kind for what we had to deal with late evening Easter eve. God bless them all, they are Earth Angels for our furry family. ❤️🏥 …
Diana Newman
They helped my puppy dog big time. They pretty much saved him from death. The staff was very friendly and kind hearted. If you're puppy ever has an emergency I would recommend going here.
Anthony Jackson
They took VERY GOOD care of my dog. She had a massive tumors on her right arm. They removed a good portion of it. She is in good spirits again. Even with the splint on her arm. The staff is helpful.
Robyn Hecht
Very pleased with Dr. Syckamore at VSS. She diagnosed our tiny yorkie and devised a plan of care including surgery (our choice) to remove liver cancer. We have used their emergency service in the past for one other fur baby when she got sick. Great customer service which is hard to come by these days. Thank you Dr. Syckamore and the Vet Tech’s at VSS.

I love Dr. Roger's! She is great with my cocker Spaniel! She took care of his allergies! No more allergies for my little puppy!

I was sent here because stray rescue (where I got my dog, look them up, great organization...) is closed on the weekend. I was skeptical, having VSS handling my dog. He lived on the streets for years. He doesn't know boundaries and is capable of savagely attacking people. He is not friendly and highly aggressive towards people upon first introductions. VSS looked past all this and treated my dog like I would expect a hospital to treat my dying grandmother. I was so thrilled with the surgery, their communication to me throughout everything, and the quality of the surgery and aftercare. Thank you VSS!!! In case anyone is wondering, my dog slurped up a pile of corn on the ground while walking through Wilmore park. Some a**hole was fishing and left his trash/tackle laying on the ground, and in that pile of corn was a fishing hook threaded with corn, attached to 10 feet of fishing line. It was originally caught in his throat, by the time I got him to VSS he had swallowed the hook in to his stomach. It got caught in his stomach and they had to do major surgery and open him up to get it out. He's tough as nails though, was back to his old self in 4 days, had his staples removed 2 weeks later, and now we try our hardest to pay attention to stuff lying on the ground wherever we go!

Our Boston had to have knee surgery to repair his CCL, which is equal to a human ACL. Everyone here is very professional. They will treat your pet with the same respect and care that you would expect from a human doctor/facility. This is a 24-hour facility, so when I realized I had forgot to get a refill for pain medication, we were able to go pick some up at 11:00 pm. While not all the specialty offices are open 24-hours there is staff there 24-hours. That also made me feel great that I knew Marvin was being taken care of round the clock the day after his surgery.
Mark Allen
Great staff and service. A tad expensive on everything though. Feels like they charge whatever and we accept it or let our pet suffer. Wish they would keep in mind that animals have no health care insurance to help with bills. And we're not all rich but we do love our pets. :/
Heather Ogle
Had to take my dog to their emergency clinic this morning & was very pleased! They were very thorough, compassionate, & it wasn't crazy expensive!
Susan Sargent
An extraordinary veterinary hospital for special cases and for after hours emergency care. My little dog spent one night here on a Sunday due to dehydration, and received what I believe to be excellent care and recovery. Staff is very caring.
Mike C
The only place of its kind in a wide area. Staff was professional and friendly worth the hour and a half drive to go to the place everyone else said was the place that could do everything.
Sam Burger
I lived at VSS for almost 4 months with my English Mastiff Gus. Unfortunately I still lost him but the staff is incredibly amazing and professional. Love them and their work they do.

My little buddy Roman was hit by a car and had a broken ball joint in his hip. Dr Sutton and the folks at VSS including the surgical staff all the vet techs and office staff have been wonderful. Roman is not out of the woods yet, but I can't say enough about the wonderful staff.

Went there on a Saturday to get help for my dog who was breathing rapidly. The vet tech Francesca was outstanding as she answered all of our questions and even cut the antibiotics into my dogs dosage. Dr.Karagiannis(my apologies if spelled wrong) was also very helpful. My dog was back to normal after a week
