My pup is anxious around new places and people, he is also defensively aggressive towards other animals. You can imagine the struggle to find a vet that accommodates these kinds of special needs in a large dog. When our previous vet that we loved moved her practice elsewhere, I was pleased to find that both of the doctors that treated my pup here were not only incredibly understanding, but well informed in no-fear strategies that work best for my pup. One of the best things about this clinic is that patients are buzzed in, meaning there are no group waiting rooms - you just wait in your car. This is a great solution for reactive and anxious pets. The vets and techs built a bond with my dog quickly, and most importantly calmly, while respecting what he did and didn't feel comfortable with. I never felt pressured to choose expensive treatments or products but was always given a full list of recommended options and educated on the pros and cons. While we have recently moved, I'd be remised to not leave a review. Very thankful for this office and for the compassion and hospitality offered by the doctors, techs, and front desk.

Years ago when I lived in St Louis I took my sweet Lexy there and they were always so kind and loving towards her. If I ever had to leave her for some medical stuff the staff would always talk about how much they loved her and snuggled with her until I came back. One of the staff members I can’t remember their name but she would always make sure to make go out of her way to come say hi to my dog when I would get there. She (my dog ) has now passed and I still think of the amazing staff

They are excellent! We found a dog on the streets 5y ago, and took him to this practice. Since then, they demonstrated their preoccupation for its welfare by guiding us through all the perks of adopting and the responsibilities it would bring to us. Their prices are reasonable, and they always walk us through our different options so we can budget ahead. Staff is super friendly and very communicative. I never had a dog that loved to go to the vet before, now my puppy can't wait to get in -I think it tells a lot.

I've been really grateful for St Louis Veterinary Center since bringing my pups here over the last year or so. At a time when there's a severe shortage of vets, I feel like their quality care and ability to get us in has been awesome. My pups love Dr. Courtney and have always experienced kindness and professionalism from both reception and the vet techs. Sasha, Gus and I feel lucky to have y'all in our corner!

Staff is excellent. Able to get my dog Bailey in almost immediately and that's not typical for vet appts. I couldn't give Dr. Courtney enough kudos. She stayed on the phone with me for 20 minutes answering all of my questions and making sure I understood everything putting my mind at ease. Everyone is friendly. facility is clean with a calm atmosphere. I will always recommend this place <3

My experience here has been amazing! I recently moved to the Missouri side of the river and needed a vet for my kitten. The only vet I knew/trusted was back home, so I needed to find a new one. My friend recommended this vet to me and I'm glad everything worked out! Dr. Dillon is so good with my kitty. Binx can get a little shy at his appointments, but Dr. Dillon is very kind and patient with him. There's no one else I'd trust with my cat!

I think this place is the best clinic around the area. Both my cat and dog are seeing the vet here regularly. The environment inside is clean and new. The doctors and nurses are extremely professional and patient. The price is reasonable. That’s definitely the place you wanna find ur pets great vets.

SLVC was able to fit my very sick dog into the schedule on two hours notice, despite us being new to the area and the practice. Once we arrived, Dr. Brown and the entire technician staff treated my senior dog with compassion and professionalism. They were both comprehensive and affordable! This is the best vet clinic I have been to in STL. They genuinely care, always return phone calls, can usually squeeze you in for concerns, and even reached out to me after I had to put my cat down...a cat they only saw once and they didn't even do the euthanasia. Beyond impressed with this place.

I’ve taken my pets to a few vets. I definitely like them the best. They also house dogs. ( if your going on vacation) I haven’t used that service but I think it’s nice that they offer it. They are great at what they do. We have never had any problems. They stay on top of everything.

Since moving to St. Louis, I have taken my two dogs here. They have been very transparent about costs; kind and patient with my dogs; and have helped address my basset's allergy issue (something that he had been struggling with for quite a while). They aren't the cheapest vets in town, but you know the prices up front and you get excellent care. I'd rather spend a little more than I would at some of the other places for the peace of mind that my babies are being well taken care of. Overall, I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet!

They saved my dog Bambi's life. She needed surgery and they did everything they could. Dr. Courtney and the team was so supportive and caring about Bambi even after she was sent to another facility for overnight care. Everybody was so compassionate and Dr. Courtney really walked me through everything that was happening and what all our options were. I can't thank them enough.

Almost two years ago now I brought my dog in after he was very viciously attacked by a great dane. I called St Louis Vet Center and asked if they could see him right away, knowing he would probably need some kind of surgery. They said yes without hesitation, and we were there within twenty minutes. The damage was worse than we thought, but they were so amazing. They did 3 day check ups until we were out of the woods, even showed me how to clean out his wounds properly, the staff all were so amazingly friendly, the price I paid was so crazy reasonable, and I cannot thank them enough. If you don't take your pet here you're truly missing out on top notch care!

We are from Montana here in St. Louis for wife medical treatment. Because of the extreme weather and A/C use my dogs coughing fits started again. They were able to get us in and our poor dog's cough under control. Very nice people, really good veterinarians. If we move to St. Louis I know where my vet is.

My kitten was really sick and they were able to fit me in to be seen the she day! Dr. Courtney was super nice and took really good care of my kitten. We ran blood tests, and she called me the next day and went over them with me. She was super patient and answered all my questions. My 3 year old cat also got sick and just like before, I called them and they were able to see first thing in the morning. Dr. Alicia has super helpful and listened to all my concerns. I really appreciate that. I think they both took excellent care of my kids. All of the technicians (Arden, Amanda, Melissa, Laura, Megan) were very kind and wonderful. I am very glad to have found such a wonderful clinic. They truly care about your pets and they are quick to give you the results of blood panels and tests so you aren't worried or stressed out!!

St.Louis Veterinary Center is the best Veterinary Practice I've ever had the good fortune to discover. SLVC was recommended by another veterinarian,and I was so impressed I stayed. SLVC's location is very easy to find,and parking is even easier.It's a nice,big,clean veterinarian practice staffed by smart,caring,insightful people.Every decision the vets make concerning my animals is concise,succinct,and correct as I see it. They are the only facility I found that is concerned about the well being of your best 4 legged family member. I have an older small breed who gets so much anxiety and they are the only clinic I found that will let 1 person come which helps with the anxiety level. Every other place wants you to leave them so they stay in a cage causing higher anxiety. Have been going to the clinic since it's original start date 30 + years ago. I have gone to a few others for county tags but found them to be extremely expensive and more like an assembly line. I Would recommend anyone concerned about the well being of their friend to make an appt. They are most accommodating with a very friendly staff.

I loved this veterinary office. The scheduling process was very easy and they were able to fit us in soon. We actually missed our first appointment by mistake and they were amazing about it.They take the time to make sure you fully understand the treatment your pet is receiving, and keep your financial limitations in mind. The staff was knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. They also pay very close attention to diet and make sure that you are fully informed and not just falling for fads and trends, and making the best health decisions for your animal! I took my black cat Michael here, because he was itching his ears so bad and shaking his head. They were gentle with examining him and found ear mites. The price was reasonable and the vet care was personable. The people who worked there all seemed happy, and gave Michael specialized attention. The vet doctor was very honest and fair, and the vet tech that helped to clean his ears was gentle and patient with Michael and his squirming around.

St. Louis Vet Center has done so much for our pets. They've literally saved 2 of my dogs' lives and continue to provide top-notch, excellent care with all our pets. The people that work here are always pleasant. Although I like the veterinarians at Webster clinic in Webster Groves, the people that answer the phones there are not very nice it seems. They always seem to be troubled to actually answer the phone which happens to be their job. Again, the veterinarians are wonderful there. But because of the phone situation we try to go to St. Louis veterinarian center off of grand. So we go to this place instead. Everyone is always seriously pleasant, and very helpful.

I cannot say enough about these guys. Everyone is patient and kind and cares. My cat has been sick lately and they have shown him and me the best care and got us in when we needed it. I love the doctors and techs here, and, more importantly, so do my dogs! One of my dogs can get very scared and he is a strong dog. The vets and techs never make me feel bad for his reaction and work so hard to keep him calm. I also had a very sick dog last year and through all the testing, right to the end, the doctors and staff here were so empathetic and informative. I will never forget how kind they were, and I always appreciate their high level of care for my dogs health and well being.

I've been taking my cat to St. Louis Veterinary Center ever since I got her in 2015. I always have a great service for my cat's appointments. I'm taking her back to Korea and they are pretty much doing everything for me which is very convenient. Their deals are pretty great as well, much better than all the other vets around in St. Louis. If you are a college student, I recommend this vet over all others. They have pretty good deals compared to other vets and students can afford. My friends who have pets have been going here from my recommendation and they all like the place.

Very nice people. Had to take my baby there for an emergency appointment and they got him right in. the nurse and dr was amazing, and they even wrote him scripts and filled them on the spot. We are purchasing animal insurance for his care now that we are educated on pros of having it. This place is all purpose and genuinely loves animals!

I’ve been going here for 6-7 years, I think, and it’s a significantly better experience than Webster Groves Animal Hospital, which is where I used to go. STL Vet Center, though not 24 hours, provides drop-off appointments that work with my schedule far better than sitting in the waiting room at WGAH for hours. 🙄 I feel like STL Vet Center is more thorough, and I don’t feel like they’re just rushing me in and out to make a buck on my appointment or whatever else they can sell me on. I do feel like they actually care about my dog and his well being, and they treat him sweetly, which is very important to me. 🤗♥️

I absolutely love the Saint Louis Vet Center, the staff and our vet Adam Durvis. I had a terrible and a very impersonal experience with the carol house and when I came to the STL vet center my puppy was extremely sick and I was incredibly distraught seeing my best friend in such pain. We never have to wait in line at our appointments and our first time there I was happy to see they take you to a private room right away. Mr. Durvis spent a huge amount of his time looking at my dog Northi, answering my one million questions, watching me cry like a baby and making sure he tested everything from fecal matter to radiology and X-rays that were sent to a specialist. After Northi was treated there he recovered incredibly fast and the staff and Adam Durvis contacted me immediately checking in on him the next morning. The STL vet center is incredibly cheap for the amount of work they do and the personal time they spend getting to know your pet and examining their wellness. Mr. Durvis probably spent almost a half hour with me on the phone after he checked in and he is always so kind when you have any concerns about your pet or curiosity about their services they offer. I’m so happy my dog has a vet he can see consistently every visit and Northi always leaves happy with a treat or a toy from the vet or the staff! This place is worth every dime and has incredibly affordable options for the quality of service you receive. Northi will be a patient for the rest of his doggy years here and I’ve never felt more comfortable ❤️

Love these guys ...I take my cats there to be boarded when we go out of town and have for awhile now . They take such good care of my 4 kitties. Donna is Wonderful! I would use them as a vet but they are too far away from me for those who need vetting although my cats get vetted there when they go in if they need their shots. Dr Matis is a great Dr and I have used her when I need expert handling for one of my pets and Dr Waganeck is very good and very nice too. Would highly recommend them as they are good vets and a good place as I trust my pets with them.

The staff was very kind to both myself and my pups. My husky can have behavioral issues and has to be muzzled. The staff allowed me to place the muzzle and removed my baby from the room for the exam(hero does better if he doesn't see me). I appreciate their patience and kindness.

After visiting other vet hospitals in St Louis we have had a great experience here. Last year they saved the life of our cat who had a fatty liver disease crisis. This year we came back due to a minor problem and they were great: did not push us to take any unnecessary treatments after analyses turned out to be good, and followed up on our cats status the following days. Best vet clinic experience in St Louis .

Great Vet. We are in the process of relocating to Australia and our cat needed bloodwork done and other work we weren't sure about. Called up STL VET. CENTER and they did some digging and knew exactly what we needed. We made an appointment and dropped him off( this is during the covid pandemic. so we parked out front and they came out and brought him in.) They were nice enough to call us and update us how he was doing after having blood drawn, the vet also spoke with us about some minor things she noticed and gave us recommendations on how to treat them. Overall excellent, courteous, and knowledgeable staff. I can't recommend them enough.

Decent visit. Lived in the area for years. Always heard great things about this clinic. Figured this was a no brainer and so close to home too! Was in search of help with my a possible urgent feline UTI. Pros: Professional, straight-forward, Polite Cons: Charged nearly $150 to prolong the inevitable. Waited 24 hrs for results after my pet was already showing signs of straining and 7-9 more days for prescription diet to aide in treatment for awaiting diagnosis. Felt inclined to order prescription diet online per vet versus obtaining a prescription food card to immediately start food trial while at least awaiting urine results. By the time I received the prescription food, my cat was straining worse and non responsive and I was told via the clinic to go to Animal Emergency. The purpose in going here was to attempt to prevent severe symptoms to the point of an ER visit. ER visit, $1200. Had I known my babe was blocked, I was have went straight to the Animal Emergency. Prolonged the inevitable. Response to Clinic review: I appreciate the clinic taking the time to respond to my review. The initial visit served its purpose. My kitties aren’t pets, they are family and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with them but stl vet center. It’s easy to get an appointment. The place is super clean and the staff pleasant. I’ve had many reasons to be there and each time I was received with care and empathy. I highly recommend this place.

I found the information for this company on google on Monday. Made the appointment I needed after reviewing their site and seeing the prices etc. Made my appointment for 10am Wednesday. The next day I had an email confirmation of my appointment. Arrived early to my appointment, location is cute, clean, in a great location off 44 & Grand next to SLU hospital. I live in North County so coming to South City was a stretch but definitely worth it. Great Staff, they greeted me and my pet, offered additional services that compliment the shots we were there to get. Sat me in a room and checked out my dog. The tech's were very nice and helpful and friendly and knowledgeable and so was the Doctor. I was literally in and out. My appointment was at 10 and I got out before 10:25. The transaction process was very simple and easy also and I have another follow up appointment soon. The prices are very reasonable/fair/cheap whatever word you like best. I will use them for all my dog services from now on. The other dogs we saw that were in doggie daycare looked clean and happy and were peaceful (no barking) and their area was clean also (no smell). Thumbs up! You won't be disappointed.

I have taken my pets to this clinic since 1999. It wasn't until the last few years that we spent more time at the clinic with my two elderly dogs. Dr. Mattis, the female vet is very compassionate, taking the necessary time to treat my dogs. The staff is wonderful in the fact that they are also caring and compassionate. It is as if they were taking care of their own pets. The cost of care is comparative to other clinics or less for some services. Most recently I made the decision to put to rest one of my dogs that had a multitude of medical aliments. The actual process was very peaceful, caring and humane. It was done with compassion by Dr. Mattis. The staff was extremely supportive also. I can't say enough about this clinic for pet care!

Found st louis veterinary center after Carol house wellness center denied treating my Stafford bull terrier for her skin allergies. I was a walk in (an extra $15 convenience fee) and though I waited over an hour (which the receptionist did indicated they had three surgeries going on) we were seen a lot faster than I thought. After it was determined what was causing my furbaby outbreak (flea dermatitis, though I've been using advantix 2) the vet and vet tech spoke to me about plan of action. I've been to other veterinary clinics and all that was done was to treat my staffie (shots, antibiotics, etc), yet these guys brought up the point that since I have 4 dogs and 2 cats total it'll do my staffie no good unless I treat the others. We concluded to switch to new flea/tick medicine. Reasonable prices for all the care that was received.

They have taken care of all of our dogs for over 20 years. They are always great! When our older dogs became ill they really cared and took a real interest in their comfort. They even helped us get through losing them. We now live in Imperial but we bring all the dogs in to see Dr. Mattis and staff. They and Dr. Wagenknecht have always been there for our dogs and us. The whole staff is amazing. They truly care!!

There have been many changes to his office over the years, and I feel that the Center's staff today is professional and pleasant. We will continue to use St. Louis Veterinary Center for all of our pets' needs.

I love STL Veterinary Center! One of my two dogs has abnormal live issues and the advice and care that Dr. Mattis has provided is unmeasurable! Everytime I go there the staff is so nice. They offer great care at a reasonable price. They also offer afforadable boarding and this was the first place I actually boarded my dogs. When I picked them up you could tell by the report that they had fun while I was away and were in good hands. I am a forever customer to St. Louis Vet Center and will suggest them to all of my pet loving friends.

Update-March 2019. The doctor that owned this practice no longer works here. I did get a canine spay done here by one of the new doctors and the surgery went fine. However ,oddly,they send you home with two pain meds and no antibiotics. So of course,3 days later I was at another clinic picking up meds bc the suture line was slightly swollen and red despite being very careful about how she laid down. The techs push unneccessary products to up the fees,drastically,like a onsie with the clinic name on it. Really,$35 dollars for a baby onsie. Instead of going over the total,they keep upselling,and you end up surprised at check out. In total,a spay for a 14lb dog is over FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. No wonder it's much quieter there than before. I have done over a dozen spay and neuter @this clinic,each on exotic breeds,and all have been successful in healing and management of pain. The lead male doctor is extremely experienced. The prices are moderate,could be cheaper..But could definitely be more expensive as well.

I volunteer St Louis feral cat Outreach, we do what's called TNR for the cats of St Louis City and their humans. STL vet does many of our surgeries. The staff there are all friendly and knowledgeable always willing to lend a helping hand when necessary. I would recommend them to any pet owners.
