Reviews of Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine
Michael Newman
I have multiple bunnies and I have brought them here for a few different reasons. I feel like the bunnies got taken care of very well.
I do find the wait time to be dreadful, but I think that's because of the nerves of having a pet in distress at the vet. The bunnies always seem happy and healthy after they leave.

I was able to get our bunny in the same day and I’m so glad we could. She wasn’t feeling well and they were able to diagnose her, treat her and send her home with meds to recover. Everyone I spoke with was so kind and helpful- this was quite reassuring since our vet, along with 3 others had more than a 2 week appointment wait. That wasn’t an option for us since I knew she wasn’t in a good state and wouldn’t have been able to wait that long.
I’m so thankful to have gone to the Center for birds and exotic Animals and was very happy with our experience.

When my ferret, Slinky got extremely sick I was afraid he wouldn’t make the drive to CBEAM from Bellingham. They were the only ones willing to help him. I dropped him off and waited worried sick he wasn’t going to pull through.
CBEAM was wonderful and the vet regularly kept in touch, let me know cost estimates, explained what tests she felt he needed and in what order we should do them. In no time she had everything figured out and had meds ordered for me. She even had refills sent to the pharmacy and shipped to my house.
Slinky bounced back and made a full recovery thanks to their excellent care. The cost was very reasonable for what they did and the care he received but most important to me was how well he was treated.
I will forever be grateful for them because we were not ready to lose our sweet Slinky. Thank you CBEAM team!

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet that is considered a family member is never easy, but I was so impressed with all the staff that I interacted with on a super hard day. They were compassionate and were able to get my sweet chinchilla in for a same day emergency appointment and took him in early because I arrived early. They were thoughtful and quick to assess my chinchilla’s unfortunate situation. From start to finish I felt like they really cared about my little boy. Dr Hyde explained everything in detail, Kailey suggested a fun last treat for my boy and brought him a comfy blanket and Merry held him for all the time I couldn’t. The front desk team member that went over everything with me was also very kind while discussing a delicate matter. A caring place that made a difficult day less bad. Everyone offered their condolences as I left. Thank you.

I bring my birds and guinea pigs here, this review is about my pig specifically. I showed up early to his appointment and they took him in soon after. My technician may possibly love my guinea pig as much as I do, and as his Mom, I appreciate that over all else. He was well taken care of, and absolutely safe. They are very transparent about prices and procedures, I love this place and I will continue to make the trek to them, whenever I need.

Wonderful care was given to my newly adopted beardie. They were extremely thorough, very kind, explained options, differentials and possible outcomes.
Every person I was in contact with during his emergency visit was so nice! I think our total time there was 3-4hrs? Which was WAY better than I was expecting knowing they had a lot of patients that day!
Jeff Bynum
I wish this place was closer to me! On short notice we had a emergency and they were able to look at our rabbit; I had called numerous other "exotic" (rabbit) veterinary clinics and this was the only one that could see him same day. They were upfront with costs involved and pricing seems reasonable. Overall I am pleased. Jack the rabbit is doing better now too. (next day).

My sweet older guinea pig got a bladder stone stuck in his urethra and went downhill. I’m thankful this place exists because there are almost no vet offices for small pets any more around here that I’ve found. I brought him home after his visit here and he was sick but not afraid like after some vet offices so I know they treated him softly. Kind doctors who shared the important information with me in a timely manner. I’m thankful I can afford to go here.

I came here with my budgie Snowball when she became lethargic and was vomiting. This was my first avian emergency and the staff were all very supportive and gave thorough answers for any questions I had. They talked me through my options when it came to diagnostics and again when it turned out she had an ovarian tumour, and were very supportive when we said goodbye and all of the staff were very compassionate. A couple of days after her passing, they sent me a card filled with their signatures passing along their condolences.
I plan to return here for normal wellness checks for my other birds.

I called one morning with serious concerns about my rabbit - no food going in nothing coming out - they were able to get my rabbit Lemon in that same day. A couple days of being in emergency care, he comes home and I believe he is on the up! He's eating a little and going a little. I love this team - so patient, kind, informative too! Hopefully we'll never have to be in an emergency room again however if we did have to go - BEAM is the place :-)

The staff and Dr. were (and are) knowlegable, friendly and incredibly compassionate. My Nana had 2 Chameleons (1 recently passed) and this is the clinic that she likes the most. It IS a bit spendy (especially if $ is tight for you) but having exotic animal family members is too, so...
The clinic is close to the house and open 24 hrs as well. You do have to wear a mask if you go inside the facility tho...So be prepared.

I called at 630 pm on a Sunday because my Guinea Pig had a severely infected eye discovered upon our return from vacation. They were able to fit us in at 8pm that same night. He was evaluated and they gave me several treatment options that took into consideration our budget and goals of care.

It's so great to have CBEAM in the area. They see my leopard gecko and bearded dragon, and I am really impressed with the level of care. The doctors and staff are wonderful and it's clear that they're passionate about what they do. Everyone is super knowledgeable, kind, and thoroughly answer my questions. Each visit has been a really positive experience.
8-Bit Pythons
We’ve had two of our chameleons seen here for different issues. Unfortunately our adult male veiled needed to be put to sleep due to kidney failure. The team was thorough and empathetic, gave us all the time we needed to process and make decisions. They also helped our sick young chameleon when he got an RI. As busy as they are, even the people who take the phone calls are sweet on the phone. They are also great about providing multiple options for diagnostics and treatment and keep you informed along the process. We appreciate your expertise and help.

Hamsters aren’t often considered important or valuable pets. But the staff at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine cared for my hamster like they would any other more expensive pet. My hamster Louie was very special to me and I loved him very much. I’d had him for about 2 years - the average lifespan for a hamster - when he took an incredibly abrupt turn. I tried calling emergency veterinary clinics but couldn’t find one that took hamsters. Finally, someone pointed me to this clinic. When I called they said they’d fit him in as soon as I was able to pull into the parking lot. The staff was incredibly professional and did their best to treat Louie and make him comfortable. It was determined that he was most likely in advanced stages of heart failure and may have also had cancer, so we decided to end his suffering. He was brought out to me in a little box that had been decorated with his name, and the staff was kind enough to give me a clay impression of his paw print. Considering this was an emergency case requiring oxygen and medication, the bill was very reasonable. Above all, I was incredibly impressed at the compassion showed to Louie and myself by the staff. I’d never visited them before and they had every indication that I would not be returning to their clinic again to give them business, yet they still went above and beyond to make this process as comforting as possible. I even received a sympathy card from them in the mail afterwards - signed by the team who worked on Louie. This whole process was incredibly touching, and I’m so glad there are vet teams in this world who have the care and empathy that this staff clearly has for even the smallest creatures. I just adopted a new hamster and I know exactly where I will take him if he ever needs care. I’d love to give a massive thank you to all the staff at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine for being an incredible care team and amazing people!

Even though they were busy they took their time and saved my ferrets life. Everyone there has been so nice and caring! Great experience even though it was scary. Would recommend them to anyone with an exotic pet! George Sanderson is happy to be alive and home.

The team here is phenomenal. I would give them more stars if I could!
I first visited CBEAM when my bearded dragon (about 3 years old) ate something he wasn't supposed to. My usual vet referred me here after Bellamy hadn't passed the thing he ate after some time.
They tried to do an endoscopy but his esophagus was torn during it causing him to need emergency surgery.
Dr. Strunk and Dr. Music spent FOUR HOURS working on Bellamy. When they called to tell me he was breathing on his own again, I'm pretty sure I cried. (I literally cannot imagine two people performing surgery on a bearded dragon at once. They're miracle workers. He's so small, 500ish grams or so. Just, wow.) I cannot thank them enough for their hard work.
Nor can I express how impressed I was with their work. They stitched his esophagus back up, got the thing out, stitched him back up some more, and I was able to bring my little man back home!
He ended up getting a blood clot in his tail from that surgery (just a normal medical complication) and needed another surgery to amputate part of the tail.
I didn't want to amputate at first. The team supported my decision to wait and keep an eye on things. I was nervous because my previous vet mentioned sometimes reptiles just don't wake up from anesthesia. And I had just gotten my lizard back!
But, I got a few second opinions and felt very reassured that the recommendations from Dr. Strunk were valid. And they did such a great job during the first surgery. I felt he was in competent hands.
When I decided it was time, we scheduled the surgery.
And my little trooper is still here with me today!!
They showed me a picture of the inside of the amputated part of his tail. That was all of the proof I needed to know that the people who work here know what they are doing. The techs, the vets, the whole team, they all care. Thanks guys! 💙

My 2.5yo holland lop bunny Coco stayed overnight at this hospital for 3 days and 2 nights. The diagnosis was diarrhea from coccidia (a parasite). The vets were amazing and treated his sickness and he got better. However, after he came home he took a turn for the worse 2 weeks later and passed away at home. While I'm heartbroken, the vets did a great job taking care of him and giving him care while he was in the ICU.
While I'm grateful for the vets for saving Coco when he was in ICU, I was not as pleased with the quality of overall service.
1. The office rarely ever called me with updates on Coco's condition - they would always say "the vet will call you back around noon" and then by 2-3pm, after I heard nothing, I would call in.
2. The technicians messed up my bags of medicine and I came home with 2 bags of medications for my bunny, only to realize they mislabeled the bags and forgot to include an entire bag of medication. I drove the 1.5hours round trip back to the vet at night to pick up the bag that they forgot.
3. They accidentally gave me a label for medication that belonged to a bird named Paco. Not sure how it ended up in my bag but it was a bit sloppy.
4. The entire ordeal was not cheap, especially checking your pet into the ICU on an emergency - it cost me $2,400.
I brought Coco back to this vet when he passed away because I wasn't sure what to do (I was totally in shock). They were sweet and understanding and helped me with the cremation services, which cost $150 and included an urn with his ashes as well as a clay disc with his pawprints. Overall, I am glad for the level of care that the docs provided but I wish the rest of the staff could help to improve other aspects of the service.

The last thing anyone wants to do is end up going to the emergency room for their exotic pet, but the people here really do their best to make sure you know that your pet is in the best hands. I'm lucky to have such a caring response team so close by and I'm not sure if my hamster Bunny would have been alive today if it wasn't for Dr. Hyde. Not only did the entire team keep me updated and informed on what was going on with her they also treated Bunny with far more empathy than I had experienced at other veterinarians. They really value every life that comes through these doors as if they were their own pets and I really appreciate the love that they have for their patients. Even her paper bag that her medicine came in was personalized with her name and a sticker! How sweet is that?
Rene Russell
This is the best exotic vet around. They actually care about your animals and go out of thier way to help you. Highly recommend this place.
Alli McManus
I brought my rabbit in for a suspected respiratory issue. The staff was more than accommodating and gave my baby amazing care. I received a call directly from the vet to go through her findings and create a treatment plan. She was very transparent with pricing and recommended different treatment options based on price and what she felt would be best for my rabbit. Overall very pleased with their fast, excellent care.
Jenny Roraback-Carson
Dr Whitmore was excellent. My Guinea pig was injured and Dr Whitmore was thoughtful in her approach and offered helpful guidance through the decision making process of what studies would be most useful. She was an excellent communicator and went the extra mile for my animal. We had long wait times due to a big number of emergency cases the ER had to deal with, but still the care was excellent. Front desk staff also did a great job with keeping me updated and communicating via text.
Abigail Wild
This is the most wonderful vet I have ever been to. I came here for a second opinion about my rabbit's health (possible surgery), and they gave me more information that I had received at my previous vet. They were truthful, caring, and made me feel they really cared about my bunny. Dr Pacheco talked me with me over the phone twice about all my bunny's health concerns. She was wonderful. The communication about everything was excellent. I felt I could call at any time and they would help me. My rabbit sadly will need to be euthanized soon which has been extremely hard on me, but the amount of care the team showed me was very nice and helpful. They do not try and squeeze you for money. They are truly there to help. They told me all costs up front and what exactly they would not recommend. They were honest about how the surgeries and future needed care will be extremely hard on my rabbit and it can change the relationship between bunny and owner, something my other vet did not tell me. I finally felt I had all the information to make a decision.
I strongly recommend Center of Bird and Exotic, and I will be coming back to them in the future if I adopt another pet. They truly are there to help animals.

I took my two bunnies, Cheese and Truffle here today for a wellness checkup. Dr. Whitmore was so kind, accommodating and knowledgeable when we spoke over the phone. I really appreciate the rest of the staff as well. Thank you all for what you do!
EDIT: I brought my two bonded buns in for an ER visit 4/5 for GI stasis. Staff was promptly out to take them in and assess the affected boy, Cheese. He ended up having liver lobe torsion and needed surgery to survive. The three nights they were there, they called me daily with updates on how they were and if I had any questions. They were so thorough and transparent about costs for everything involved. I'm so grateful for them saving my little dude and keeping his best friend there! He's on the mend now, eating well, taking his meds, and enjoying being home. I'm sure he won't mind visiting his friends at CBEAM in a couple weeks though! <3

I have two rabbits and this is the only place I will take them. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I have always had a good experience. The clinic takes emergency cases, so sometimes the wait for other visits can be a bit long, but it is only because they prioritize the most critical cases. And when I need the emergency service I am glad for this.
Both my rabbits have been here for routine check ups and emergency visits. One of my rabbits had a severe case of gi stasis and the vet here caught the underlying cause with their expertise. The rabbit had surgery to fix the liver torsion and is doing well now. The vets at the clinic provide top notch care and deeply care about animals.

The vets, techs, and other staff members were just amazing. When my sweetheart got sick, I did everything I could to make her better but it was more than I was capable of. The doctors and staff here knew how to help my ferret Luna immediately. There was no question about whether or not they would try to do everything they could. From the moment we arrived, they wrapped Luna up and made sure she was never alone or felt abandoned. They watched her all night. Someone was in contact with me every step of the way. They didn’t over treat her or pump her full of unnecessary meds or over do it on procedures just to have something to charge me for. Their prices were fare and the time my baby was in their care was absolutely necessary. I don’t live in Washington but I sure am glad that this is where we were when Luna got sick. These people are just incredible, sweet, loving, and dedicated.
LaRee Cook (LeMay)
Wonderful clinic. We couldn't find anyone to help our hamster with an abscessed cheek in Olympia, so brought her here. They kept us informed every step of the way making all options clear and what to expect at the appointment and time it would take. They texted us updates as she had to have surgery (poor baby). $15 hamster had to have $400 of care and follow up, but my daughter isn't sad cause she lost a pet.

It was a medical emergency for my ailing bird and everyone was great. They were not allowing visitors inside the clinic for health reasons, so it was a very nervous, anxious day especially since in my haste to get to the center from about 20 miles away, I had a dying battery on my cell and a car charger that was not working. The staff worked with that and made several trips out to my car to keep me posted on his condition and reassure me. The were very kind and considerate, which made the seemingly endless time, much more tolerable. I appreciated there consideration
Bella Scillitani
Our rabbit suddenly stopped eating and they got us in the same day for an emergency appointment when no other vet would see her. She ended up having GI Stasis and stayed over night. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice throughout the entire process. Would definitely recommend to other bunny moms!
Scrub
Our senior bunny needed to be seen immediately for onset of her spine/disc and she was seen immediately and the price was lower than our other bunny that we had a appointment in a different location...so yes, five stars and the compassion they showed was comforting...and this was an emergency visit in evening on Sat.

Dr Hayden was wonderful to my ferret baby! She explained everything that was being done as well as all of our options. Every other staff member I spoke with as well was amazingly kind and reassuring. My only regret is that I live in Spanaway, it took me an hour and a half to get there🥲
But when it comes to my boy Rin, I’d do anything for him!
Thank you all so much for your kindness to my baby and myself.

I took my bird to The Center for Bird and Exotic Animals for an emergency visit out of necessity and lack of other immediate options in my area, but they will now be my first choice when it comes to veterinary care, regardless of the hour drive for me. The staff was efficient and friendly and the Dr was thorough and knowledgable. I am happy to have been directed to them.

I have had both my chinchillas come here for emergencies, I always felt the doctors and staff took good care of them and (while healthcare is Expensive) they worked with what I could afford.

The other day around 11:30 p.m., I called (in tears) to ask if a situation my ball python was having would warrant an emergency visit. The person who answered the phone was incredibly kind and calming, consulted with the doctor, and said they’d suggest bringing him in. When we arrived around 30 minutes later, we were greeted promptly with compassion and kind words. They took Meatball in immediately, and I got a call shortly after to get more information from me about his situation. I was impressed by all of the detailed information they asked for over the phone- everything you could think of re: habitat, health history, eating habits, etc.- this put me more at ease knowing that they’d have all the context needed to determine the cause of his issue without me there to answer questions in the exam room. After about 30 more minutes or so, the doctor called me and discussed what she found in her exam. She was incredibly kind and explained everything in detail, including what treatments and testing she’d like to do and why she felt they would be necessary, and she was very up front and clear about what the costs would be for each treatment and test. We then discussed our treatment plan and financial situation and decided on a plan of action - she fully supported our choices, even though we didn’t agree to every test she suggested. We also ended up needing a medication demonstration, and the tech who showed us was so kind and lovely (just like all the other staff we had interacted with so far), and he demonstrated the injection process very clearly. Meatball is already starting to look better, and I am so happy we brought him in! He has a follow-up next week, and I’m honestly excited to bring him back and continue the process of getting him back to full health!

Incredibly kind and compassionate team. I'm only 14 and brought my rat, Karl, in for emergency care because he showed concerning behavior, which ended in being pts. Not only were they speaking gently, but they allowed me to hold and comfort him most of the time. I couldnt wish for a better place to go to <3
Becky Yandrasitz
Compassionate, professional, know their stuff. Their emergency overnight vet services are unfortunately what I have used most often. They fought to save two of my sugar gliders at different points in the past year, and assisted me in helping them over the rainbow bridge when I needed to. Today I went to them with a less urgent problem, but they were no less sincere and kind. Highly recommend. I am forever grateful for the care they give animals.
Leah Hagan
Thank you so much for taking care of my lovely rabbit, Hilde. I really appreciated the cost estimates being laid out clearly before my visit, and Dr. Haviland kept me updated very well while diagnosing her. Everyone made me feel very empowered to make a good, well-informed decision and thoroughly discussed treatment options and suggestions for follow-up. Hilde is doing much better after a couple of days, and I’m so grateful that I know my buns will be well-taken care of here.
Andrea Entz
Every experience I have had has been very informative and empathetic. This office has info on birds that I have not been given at any other vet (such as research studies on the benefits of UV lighting for birds and videos on how to best prepare my birds for a vet visit) AND they don't talk down to me if I don't have this info already (as I have experienced at certain other exotic vets in the area).
They are open 24/7 for emergency visits and have a service to text questions which is very helpful.
And as a cherry on top, after one of my birds passed away last year, I received a card signed by the entire office. Very thoughtful.
Wes Anderson
We had an emergency with my daughters guinea pig. They were so kind and attentive to not only her guinea pig but to her as well and spoke kindly to her and we’re very reassuring. They called multiple times to explain what was happening and what treatment options were needed and to get permission to go ahead with treatment. I highly recommend this hospital and will defend bringing our pets here again.

If you have ferrets, I can wholeheartedly tell you they will get the care they need here. My 6y old boy had a terrifying episode that turned out to be insulinoma. They quickly took him in, and they were patient with me trying my best to keep my composure so I could talk straight. The communication from them was A++ and when the visit was over my baby boy was doing so much better I was amazed. All together, I was left speechless in all the best ways. I cannot thank these amazing people enough for saving my baby boy Bourbon's life. They deserve every bit of recognition.
Sam Moser
They were very caring towards my pet and very good at communicating with me what was happening. I received multiple updates over the two days that my pet was there hospitalized and they were able to stabilize her to the point where I could continue at home care. I do recommend this place to all owners of exotic pets, with knowing that any emergency vet visit and hospitalization is going to be pricey. Thank you so much for saving my pet!
Jennifer Makalo
The vets here are simply amazing. I have a bearded dragon who was very sick when we got him. Thanks to the vets here his health has taken a 180 turn for the better. We were scared we might loose him. But the amazing care and directions given by the vets has given my dragon a chance at life! 100% recommend this place!
Devin Ferjo
We love taking our chameleon to the Center. Dr's and nurses do such a great job of handling and taking care of our chameleon. We appreciate the Dr's calling and explaining all of our options, we've never felt pushed to make unwanted decisions. The Center is such a great place for Exotic Animals.
Shelby Jenkins
After hours staff was amazing when we needed to drive 4hrs to get our two pythons seen for a Respiratory Infection. The staff gave us regular updates and took great care of our snakes. Would 100% recommend this Vet to any snake owners!
Milo
These guys are great! I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. They’re incredibly transparent with pricing, care options, and explain why they recommend treatments. I’ve taken a hamster and a reptile here and they’re always fantastic and empathetic.
ChDDy lV
They sent a condolences card with warm greetings from each staff after our pet took its last breath. They were so incredibly sweet and caring the entire time from the moment I made the appointment, to the emergency walk in and after. They made sure my daughter's information was on file because she was the "owner/mom".
Thank you
Weina Dai
They were very helpful and understanding when my ferret was in a hypoglycemic crisis (due to his insulinoma). They were honest and helpful and helped stabilize my ferret. He's not 100% back to normal, which is expected but he's brighter. They kept me updated with his care and returned my calls. Very professional, caring, and knowledgeable.
Eamon Balladone
A couple days ago I had to bring my rat in around 9:30pm for unexpected complications due to a recent neuter. They took him in and assessed him right away which was nice. I had to wait close to 5 hours from start to finish which was pretty agonizing but at least the kept pretty good communication with me and were honest about how long the wait would be. I felt like they explained everything very well to me and I felt no pressure to spend money I didnt want to spend. They gave me the cost of everything up front and let me decide. I was a little frustrated when I got home and went to administer medicine I realized they gave me the wrong size syringe for one of the three bottles. I would go there again if I needed to.
Jessica Anderson
My bearded dragon was acting like she broke a limb. They got me in as soon as they could because I live 2 hours away and couldn’t find another herp vet for emergency. They were quick, kind to my animal and informative. Thank you for taking care of my baby.
Evelyn Gascon
They did a great job with my leopard gecko. They explained the process of the visit in great detail. The doctor offered me several treatment options and thoroughly went over how to care for her after the visit.
The wait took a few hours, but they are very caring and sensitive with each client and understandably busy.
Thank you so much, CBEAM!

My Holland lop bun was having an emergency and they were able to get me in quickly (3hrs) on a Sunday evening. I talked to both the tech and Dr. Haviland multiple times with updates. Very thorough discharge instructions and were quick to respond when I called the next day with concerns. They even reached out two days later for status updates on my little one. I will be transferring his care here even though it’s almost an hour away for me! Thank you to the team for making a bun mom feel supported and taking great care of my little boy!

I had to have a emergency appointment for my guinea pig today. And I called the Seattle one but they suggested me to a dog hospital (weird and confused) so I came here. I was able to get an appointment within an hour same day. Then my guinea died. Then I had to cancel the appointment and both women I called today, were very sweet, informative and kind. I wish I had more receptionist like them ❤️

This hospital was fantastic. My bunny got sick on a Sunday, and they were the only exotic pet hospital that was both open on Sundays and able to get her in the same day and start care. During her hospitalization, doctors at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animals were attentive, responsive, and so helpful for helping me figure out the best care for my bunny. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them!

I LOVE that they have same day emergency service. We live in Cle Elum, our vet choices out here ar4 very limited especially for Sugar Gliders. We were treated professionally & they took great care of our glider Zena. She was in critical condition when we brought her in. They did everything they could & sent us home with critical food & pain meds. The vet Kelsey was very compassionate, sincere & knowledgeable, she made us feel confident in her ability to help Zena. THANK YOU!

They treated my rat Topanga with so much care. I brought her in a month ago as an emergency visit as she was showing all signs of a suspected pituitary tumor. The vet and staff worked with me to get her on the right medicines, and didn't even mention euthanasia, which from the state I brought her in I figured that would be the first option laid out. She has completely turned around and is acting like she was never sick. I really appreciate the time and care they gave her.
Neil Lutterman
The vet and vet techs were super helpful and accommodating after we exhausted all other options closer to home.
The staff listened to the problem and our concerns and took all the stops needed to try and make our little ferret feel better.
Their empathy, professionalism, thoroughness and follow through alleviated a lot of stress and anxiety my wife and I had about the well being of our little guy.
They are pricey but well worth the cost.

We were panicked parents and all the people in our area we’re just swamped with appointments. Our little guy is an exotic pets so it’s extremely hard at times to have people see him. So our last option was to come here. And boy were we super thankful that we did. We did travel quite a ways. But the team was on it immediately we felt confident just with the updates with the results and how they took great care of our baby. I would recommend anybody in a heartbeat especially if you think it’s kind of far we drove 3+ hours to location and it was well worth our boys health. Thank you, thank you, The Center for Birds & Exotic Animal Medicine.

My husband thought I was crazy for taking our guinea pig to the vet... but tests did indicate that she was suffering and needed some special care. The staff here are wonderful about returning phone calls and emails. While, of course, they are running a business, they also care about pets' health and comfort. While I wish our little rodent didn't require advanced medical care to be healthy and comfortable, she did; and they provided it. This is most important because this pet is my child's "baby" and I regard her as an unofficial "therapy animal" when one is needed. <3
Melanie Poch
I took my two rats in for a checkup and all the staff I met or spoke to on the phone were super friendly and thorough. Dr. Music took the time to answer all of my questions and talked me through her recommendations for their future care. The business is also transparent and up-front with price estimates, which is great for budget planning! I had a positive experience and my rats will continue to receive their care here.

I had to drive 2 hours to get to a vet that was willing to help my leopard gecko on short notice. I did have to wait a few hours while they were working on my reptile baby, but it was worth it. They did an amazing exam and really filled me in on everything that was going on. I will definitely use them in the future! Thank you so much!

I had a horrible legal situation where I couldn’t get my birds back. When I did, two of my sweetest chickens were very sick. I took them in two days apart and they both needed to be put down. For one of the worst situations in my life, I can’t imagine saying goodbye being any easier or more beautiful. The doctors and staff took them in as emergencies. They were very kind to me and truly sympathetic. I was able to hold my Luna and Honey as they fell asleep. They were cremated to be planted with wildflowers and I was given their little feet prints in a clay heart. They called and txt to check up on me. Yesterday I received this card signed by the staff. I will appreciate what they did forever and will always use and recommend them.

Leaving a review as I spend my third hour in these people’s parking lot with little communication from them. At BEAM, you will spend 2-5 hours in your car in the parking lot, desperately trying to get any updates on what is going on with your animal, and no matter how many hundreds of dollars you pay these people and how long they have left you outside in silence, you can’t even come in to use the bathroom. Bird was supposed to be ready to come home “within the hour”. That was 20 minutes ago, and as I’ve said, I’m nearing my third hour in the parking lot. Only get updates when I call in and demand an update, which I’ve only done once an hour.
Georgeta Gruescu
Dr. Alicia McLaughlin is the BEST! I will not take my birds anywhere else. Moti is one of Dr. McLaughlin’s patients. She received the absolute best care.
Sheila McDonald
I felt well informed and confident my bird got the best care ever! I will most definitely be driving the extra miles for the care of my birds.
Qinwen Zhou
Dr. Whitmore takes good care of my guinea pig while the piggie is waiting for examinations and results. Under such extreme hot weather, the visit takes longer as the clinic have more heat-related critical emergency cases which needs to be prioritized and we totally understand that. Besides pet parents can wait at home leaving a deposit. The doctor is very patient explaining the condition and caring even after a very long day.
Lauren Laurensteen
I brought my rat in for an emergency visit -- the estimated wait time to get her back was 4-6 hours and they got her back to me in 3. Friendly staff, thorough post-exam instructions, thorough explanation of the possible issues happening with my animal. I didn't feel like her well-being as a small animal with a short life span wasn't as important as some of the other animals that are taken there; I feel confident that she was given the best care in an urgent situation that she could've been given. I will be taking my animals to this facility in the future.

great customer service this time. First time it was a rough start. But second time with different pet Dr Music and her staff that day were amazing

I brought my rabbit, Pancakes, into the Center thinking she was sick with gi stasis. Thanks to the thoroughness of the emergency vet, Pancakes was diagnosed with a severe liver lobe torsion and internal bleeding, and quickly underwent surgery to remove the lobe.
The doctors who operated on her did an excellent job, and communication and compassion could not have been better throughout the process. The vets saved Pancakes’ life, and I am incredibly thankful for the quality of care she received.
Venus Smythe
Very very great care for my little bunny! Took care of her and gave her the best care she can offer, I was unfortunately a bit far away from the hospital but they definitely helped her :) now she’s hopping around happily again and finally has her appetite, we were a bit antsy due to personal reasons but they helped immediately and took care of us and assured us our baby is okay and has the best care and were extremely polite and helped demonstrate proper care for after the visit! Overall I must say thank you so so much for helping my little one and giving her and us the best care! Very very professional and so kind!!
Janelle Marie Clark
I have several bearded dragons and have taken my pets to Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine since 2018. I scheduled an appointment and got my pets in right away for check up. The staff and doctor were very professional and informative. They took great care of my bearded dragons and made sure things were good with their health. I had to put down one that had developed MBD and it was too severe for animal to manage in June of 2018. They were compassionate and caring and I still have the sympathy cards signed by the staff. That meant a lot! Thank you for providing such excellent service and I highly recommend this facility for your pet's care!

We had an awesome experience getting emergency care for our bunny! They are the only 24 hour pet hospital in the area that offers emergency care for exotic pets. The veterinarian and techs did a thorough examination and came up with a treatment plan. All of the staff were kind, caring, and responsive to our questions and concerns. Overall, an amazing experience!
Kristina Anderson
I brought my bunny in for an emergency visit and had a great experience with the team. They were prompt, as responsive as they could be in between multiple other emergencies, and in the end sent my sweetheart home healthier than ever with a detailed follow-up summary of next steps. I have really enjoyed working with them and they have tolerated me in my anxious and frazzled state as a worried pet owner. Would highly recommend!
Erin Sanchez
The center was able to see my rabbit on Christmas Eve when no one else in a 50 mile vicinity could. Everyone on staff was so wonderful - kind, efficient, knowledgeable, and understanding. The whole experience was positive. I got my boy the medicine he needed and could rest easy through the holidays.
Michelle Gunderson
I have been bringing my two chinchillas to CBEAM since 2019 and trust them to always take care of my fur babies with the upmost care and concern. I recently brought Rocket in for an emergency cracked heel that was bleeding. They took all necessary actions and had him back out to me within a reasonable time. Two days later Rocket got his bandage off and they got me right in to get a new one.

I have come to this place with hamsters and guinea pigs in the past. I had taken my bunny to a different exotic vet but he still wasn't diagnosed properly. When I brought my bunny in the tests they ran gave me a diagnosis quickly. He is on the right path to recovery now that I brought him to an extremely reliable exotic vet. I would recommend them to all my family and friends to save them the pain and heartache on their poor animal that may be in great need like Jupiter.
Rhiannon Boyd
I took my 10+ year old leopard gecko here for an emergency vet visit yesterday. They were extremely thorough and kind and really care about their patients. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Thank you so much!
SOR Racing
Took my bearded dragon in and he ended up needing to be euthanized. The staff was so kind and accommodating and thoughtful. Thank you for making a difficult experience that much easier. I opted to get impressions of his feet and they even did his tail around the outside of the clay circle. Incredibly thoughtful and caring of them. Thank you!
Elle Comendant-Davis
The staff at Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine are absolutely amazing, and I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Whitmore. My sweet bunny had gone into GI stasis and was in critical condition, so we found ourselves at this clinic under less than ideal circumstances. Dr. Whitmore was incredibly communicative, ensured that I understood everything going on including the pros and cons of each treatment option, and the rest of the team was so gracious with my constant calls and questions. My bunny couldn't have found herself in better hands and I can't thank Dr. Whitmore and the team enough for saving my little girl!! <3
Lori kell
I brought our sick tree frog in and everyone there was wonderful. Very professional, answered all of my questions and explained everything in detail, demonstrated the treatment, and I didn’t have to wait long despite the high number of emergencies that came in at about the same time. Maybe best of all, they promptly answered my questions via text. They take every pet’s situation seriously. It was pricey but I really feel like I got what I paid for.
Judy Ellen Corcoran
Although my Senegal parrot is not a regular patient here, a recent emergency with her and its subsequent follow-up visit were handled swiftly and with great care on the part of everyone from the front desk to the vet tech to the vets, despite the necessity of some understandable Covid protocols. Both vets who saw my girl, who was diagnosed with heavy metal toxicity, were responsive and kind and explained things carefully. I hope we don't ever need to use CBEAM's emergency services again, but if we do, I'm confident that she'll receive very good care at this facility.
Queen Choyo
Everyone who works here is awesome! They take such good care of our guinea pigs for routine check ups and emergencies. When we had to have one of our girls put to sleep they were very compassionate and took good care of her and us.
Jaclyn Bringuez
We took our bird here during an emergency, and Dr. Hyde and her team saved his life. While the waiting is not ideal, they prioritize pets that have the most life-threatening situations first and I was happy to wait while they received priority care. We have since transferred his care to a vet closer to home that specializes in birds, but I wanted to make sure to share our experience. Dr. Hyde did everything possible to change her schedule to accommodate future appointments, and after so many follow-up appointments Trixie became a little celebrity in their office. Thank you Dr. Hyde!! Trixie is flourishing!

We had an emergency late at night and were greeted with open empathetic arms. Our bun required emergency surgery in the wee hours of the night, they took him in right away. Everything was explained in great detail. From a frantic bunny mom, I sincerely appreciate this wonderful office. Bun is now home recovering and resting comfortably. Thank you for saving our bunnies life.

No one likes to have to take their babies into the ER, and I know its always a stressful experience. I had to take my African Grey here because she was in pretty bad shape. I've worked in the Vet industry, and in ER, and I know how difficult it is to work with clients on a budget when their baby is in rough shape. They not only worked with me on my budget, but also did not pass judgement they definitely could have on me. I was treated with respect the entire time despite feeling like I couldn't provide the care and finances my parrot deserved. Both Veterinarians that took care of her were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She's home now but not out of the woods yet. They've done exactly what they could given the circumstances and I am incredibly grateful for what they were able to provide. Anyone who says they are pricey, doesn't understand emergency/exotic medicine. Its exactly what it should be and they deserve every penny.
The only downsides, it was incredibly busy and I didn't hear back from them about my Grey's progress until about 12 hours later when I called them to ask. Which was hard as the vet had told me when birds are in the shape she was in, they might not survive the stress of handling during diagnostics. I spent 5 hours in the parking lot thinking she was coming home with me as I couldn't afford to hospitalize. She ended up having to stay the night because I couldnt pick her up at 2am when the diagnostics were done.
Other than the communication breakdown, which I understand is also because they were absolutely swamped, I was really impressed. I am admittedly the kind of owner who has the best intentions but has fallen short of providing the care my baby deserves. I got a packet of basic care information on parrots going home, which was the most respectful way they could've handled the information I gave them. Very eye opening experience.

Yesterday we felt completely helpless. Long story short our two budgies ended up having five babies. They had been doing very well and suddenly became ill. We lost 2 and it happened quickly. My daughter was beside herself and we knew going in the ER fee would be 150.00. We explained ahead of the appointment that we could not afford to bring them all in but wanted to have this one checked, even if we couldn't save it. It was understood we would need treatment for the others. We were told that they could not do anything for our baby. We understood this but ended up with a 330.00 bill, no answers and they even have our cage and haven't even called to check on us or offer the cage back.
I would like to update that the owner contacted us back and we felt very heard. She spoke to our daughter and apologized for our loss, and seemed to understand the frustration we had with the whole process.

I will always be grateful to all the vets and staff at CBEAM. Our sweet bunny got ill a little over a month ago and everyone took such good care of him, trying multiple treatments and were always thoughtful about cost. Despite the exceptional care, sadly we had to say goodbye to our bunny, but the vets and staff were so compassionate, caring and kind through the process. They loved our bunny almost as much as we did. The office even sent us a card with personalized messages from those who cared for him while he was there. We are heartbroken Barley is gone, but so grateful that the exceptional crew at CBEAM were the ones who cared for him.

Our goose was attacked by one of our dogs and was severely injured. CBEAM got us right in, surgey was done, and they did an amazing job of putting Conway back together. The doctor and staff were thorough and caring. Our pet still has a long road ahead but we are confident he now has the best chance for recovery.

I only bring my guinea pigs here. Dr. McLaughlin and her team are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and informative. You can tell they love what they do and all animals. If you have exotic critters, this is the best care for them!
joseph spellman
Always attentive and helpful. It took us a few times to get the paperwork for billing figured out, but no delay in care during that time. I'd like to see them get more help for the night vets that are on, at least someone to help answer the phone when the doc is busy and someone calls in!
Techs are nice, front desk nice, overall good experience. Wish they were closer to home, only complaint. Your pets will be in good hands here! Lola is good as new 😀

Called today trying to find someone to see our guinea pig and they were able to see her albeit as an emergency $. They were very organized and directions were clear during this time of social distancing. The vet called me while I waited in car and thoroughly explained what was going on and our options. He was so helpful and guided me to make the right decision which was unfortunately to euthanize. They sent her home in a decorated box and even offered to make a paw print impression we could take home. Thank you!

Given the circumstances, I really appreciate that our vet took the time to have such an in-depth conversation with me about our birds. She was very knowledgeable and professional, and didn’t try to sell me on anything. I could tell that she really just cared about our birds health. The only reason I didn’t give a full 5 stars is because check out was a little confusing. After our appointment was over, we were waiting in the parking lot for nearly half an hour for them to bring our birds back to us so that we could leave. Other than that, my experience was terrific! Highly recommend!

Unfortunately my dog got ahold of my hamster after she escaped her cage. I was able to bring in Beatrice at 9:30 pm. I got the unfortunate news that her back legs were paralyzed and I had to make the really tough decision to put her down. The vet and vet tech were all super helpful and empathetic to this situation and gave me all the time I needed to save goodbye. They understood that my hamster was a part of my family and I truly cared about her. I love this place and will bring any of my small animals here if I have an issue
kellie mathay
I’m so happy we found this place! They were on time and respectful of both my budget and my time. I can tell they truly love the animals and are deeply engaged with helping them be healthy. Often I feel defeated or lectured from vets, here I felt respected and honored. Thank you for your care!

Very positive experience at CBEAM when I brought my bunny in for an emergency (first time she had GI Stasis) in the middle of the night on 7/15/21. Every aspect of the experience was excellent, responsive, caring and compassionate for both my bunny and me. I was impressed with all steps in the process —reception, triage, examination and diagnosis by an amazingly talented and communicative veterinarian (Dr. Karen Plass - great bedside manner, so thorough, caring, and professional). Also I really appreciated the thorough take home instructions with a personalized approach. I highly recommend CBEAM!
Monica Manley
I had to take my rabbit here at midnight after showing signs of GI stasis. Starting with my initial phone call through the entire visit the staff was phenomenal. They were kind, patient, and communicated clearly.
My rabbit is recovering well. I am eternally grateful to this clinic and the compassionate staff(especially those working the overnight shift).

These amazing people have helped my bunnies so much!! My bun had GI statis and was very close to dying but they helped her back to full health. They continued to call me during her stay with them and kept me updated on her progress. They're very knowledgeable about bunnies and very professional. We sadly also had to take my mothers bun here to be put down and they made a clay paw print for us to keep. Very sweet people I love this vet and will always make the hour trip to them when my bunnies need them❤❤❤❤❤
Sarah Haviland
Felt really good to find a vet that actually knows how to treat guinea pigs. Unfortunately, Mimi had reached the end of her life and had to be put down. They made us a clay plate with her pay prints on it free of charge. The nurses were very kind and the doctor was excellent.
Ana Wilson
We came in with our mini Holland lop bunny yesterday when he was having serious digestion issues and the vet helped us right away at a low cost. She was able to figure out exactly what was going on and continued with amazing treatment options for him. We’ve been going to Center for Bird and Exotic Animals for well over 3 years now and have gotten nothing but great service and treatment. Thank you so much for helping our bunnies!
Mia A
We've relied on the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine for a handful of emergency issues with our bunny over the years and they have always been so helpful and responsive. They clearly give us options and price quotes and are patient with our questions. It is encouraging to know he is in good hands of people who specialize in exotic pets. We also use their boarding services and it has been a pleasure, reasonably priced and bunny doesn't seem as spooked afterwards as he has been in other boarding situations!
Amy Kennedy
I've had nothing but a positive experience with the doctors. My interaction has been mainly with Dr Strunk. She's been professional and informative. The staff are very friendly as well.
The problem I have with this establishment is their communication with the front desk. I've waited for 30 minutes or more sometimes just to get an answer from someone. I filled out a form to come in to the office for my pet indicating to use my cell phone number, and instead of calling me they call my spouse. The disorganization between the front and back office is the problem with this place. Otherwise they are fantastic.
I've seen some people complain about the pricing. Frankly, if you can't afford your pet then don't have one. Or, get insurance. Medical attention for your pet is important and at times expensive. Especially when you go to an emergency clinic.
Nicole Tey
Dr Hyde was an amazing doctor to have to see in the middle of the night - she was so compassionate and talked us through what she was seeing and her recommendations for diagnostics and treatment. We received a difficult diagnosis, but she made our poor little ferret feel better during one of the worst nights of his and our lives. We will never forget what she has done for us. The availability of exotics emergency overnight care is hard to come by, and CBEAM is providing much-needed service for exotics owners. Max is so grateful for her help.
Joanne Fevergeon
This Exotic Pet Clinic and ER are just amazing! The Dr and staff were so caring, kind, thoughtful, gentle, and loving with our sweet Luma bunny! They took the best care of Luma and gave us phenomenal service! I will continue to take our bunny here for all of his care and grooming needs! I am very highly recommending this place to everyone!
Sonja Seymour
Our bunny came down with an extreme GI infection and had to stay 4 days in the hospital. The care was excellent and they were very responsive to providing detailed updates, answer questions and work with you to formulate a plan that works for your family. It wasn't cheap, but I felt confident in the treatment plan and the quality of care.
opencorners
Friendly, caring, and empathetic. Helped my ferret to avoid suffering. Emergency, Hospital, and Euthanasia services.
Would def take my exotic pets here in the future.
There were lots of caregivers involved but a special thanks to the ones I remember - Amber, Merry, JJ, and of course Dr Haviland.
Brennan Wright
We had a very sick Bearded Dragon over the memorial day weekend and the whole staff was AMAZING! They took such good care of Norbert and honest with info and treatment suggestions. Our guy is back home and feeling so much better. We cant thank them enough.
Suhaila Ben-Ghaly
My bunny gets his vaccinations for rhdv2 here. So grateful to have a local place to go to keep him protected from this disease.
The staff are great: on time, responsive.
Riyansha Goyal
This is a great clinic. One of the only clinics for exotic animals. They offer emergency care and that's what I went to. I was very satisfied with the services my bunny received. The staff is incredibly empathetic, helpful and friendly.

If you are like me, you are finding this review after filtering down to "rabbit." If you are also like me, you are seeing all the rabbit horror stories and are freaking out. I'm here to share a more positive story, thankfully.
My rabbit was exhibiting signs of GI stasis Saturday night, and since my regular vet wasn't open, I had to come here. I read the Google/Yelp reviews that had the word "rabbit" in them, that included awful stories about rough handling, exorbitant prices, and even rabbits dying in their care. I was completely terrified, but I didn't have much of a choice.
I called early Sunday morning and they scheduled me right away. The receptionist was nice and helpful, and I met Doctor Hess, the very friendly and attentive veterinarian on staff. My sick bunny was whisked into a back room and I was left in a patient room, and spent most of my 2.5 hours there waiting, visited every 20 minutes by the doctor or nurse who gave me an update. Over that time, I was informed that my rabbit was running a low temperature, had GI stasis, and was dehydrated. He did not seem to have a blocked GI tract but he needed an x-ray to be sure. They had him in the incubator to help his temperature, and while definitely sick, he didn't seem to be in the critical stages of GI stasis. (Phew! Always get your rabbit to a vet early!)
I was provided two options, overnight hospitalization ($1300+) or outpatient care ($300-800). I was brought an estimate sheet for both, and carefully read over each line item and asked the nurse lots of questions, which she was happy to answer.
Even though my experience was good at this point, my mind was still racing with all the bad reviews, so I chose outpatient care and rejected the most invasive treatments, figuring I could take care of him long enough to get my rabbit to my preferred vet on Monday. The nurse was understanding and strongly recommended subcutaneous hydration and a pain-reliever injection. That seemed reasonable so I agreed. She brought my bunny back wrapped in a towel, who was understandably nervous but didn't seem distraught.
Later the doctor gave me instructions for how to treat my rabbit at home: frequent syringe feedings and a prescription of Metacam (anti-inflammatory). He validated my choice of outpatient care because my rabbit was looking pretty good for having GI stasis, but also urged me to come right back if he showed any signs of worsening.
I left feeling much better, and I'm glad I went. My total bill for the emergency visit was $270 for the diagnosis, incubation, subcutaneous hydration, pain relief injection, prescription of Metacam, Critical Care food formula, and a whole lotta feeding syringes. I also received a very long and very informative email from Dr Hess with everything I ever needed to know about treating GI stasis at home. I really appreciated that! Best of all, after only two days of syringe feeding, meds, and careful observation, my rabbit has made a full recovery! I didn't even need to take him to my preferred vet office. Hooray!
I'm giving this vet office 5 stars because even though I was anxious about the bad reviews, the treatment that I agreed to let them do was all really good. The staff was patient and helpful to me even when I questioned them on every little thing. And most importantly, my little rabbit would not have survived without the treatments the vet recommended and provided. (I admit, I wouldn't trust them enough to do surgery or other risky procedures, but it wouldn't be fair to rate them based on other people's bad reviews, and I can't rate them on what I don't know.)
tldr: Daunted by bad reviews, I accepted a small amount of emergency vet care for my rabbit. The staff was great and my rabbit is healthy now. 🍌🐇
UPDATE: That previous review was on August 2019. Now, in August 2021 my same rabbit came down with GI stasis again. This time I had to leave him overnight (8pm-8am) but I'm happy to report that with their overnight care and my outpatient care, he's made a full recovery. It cost $900 this time & they were transparent about costs.
Rosie Minier
Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. The doctors care so much, and were able to provide excellent care for my very sick rabbit and get him back on his feet. They provided clear explanations of what was wrong, potential care options, and helpfully showed me how to administer his new medication.
Jessi G
We were so worried about our sweet parakeet Pipsqueak when he stopped using his right foot and everyone has been wonderful caring for him and showed us how to handle him to give him his medicine. My daughter and I are much more confident in caring for him and helping him get better. So worth the long drive

I had to bring my snake, Spaghetti, in for an emergency exam which unfortunately turned out to be a tumor that ended with euthanization. The staff was warm, welcoming, professional and caring. I believe Spaghetti was in great, caring hands with Dr. Whitmore. They offered a necropsy to further investigate the issue and confirm whether or not the tumor would have been operable and what impact it would have had on Spaghetti's life, along with an imprint of her tail in clay.
I regret the loss of my snake, but my experience with this clinic is nothing but positive. They went above and beyond to ensure the best care not just for Spaghetti, but for myself as well.

My animal is very large and very difficult to deal with. The staff here ALWAYS make the best of the situation, allow me to express me concerns and opinions and assist me in making it the least stressful as possible for my fur baby. The prices are reasonable, considering the effort and staff required to properly sedate and examine my special guy. I have never had a bad experience and I trust no one else with my exotic creature.

Very thorough when they had to hospitalize my 5 yr old female ferret on 7/2. I brought her in because she threw up a little rubber piece and was lethargic and we thought she had a blockage. She was apparently very dehydrated when we brought her in. The first night we chose to do an aggressive round of laxatives to see if she could pass whatever blockage she had since her stomach & colon were distended and she had a lot of gas built up. If nothing was passed by morning, we decided to do surgery. After the first night, nothing was passed, but she had diarrhea (that smelled like it could take the paint off of a car/wall 🤮 because she already had it when we brought her to the vet.) Dr Hess, the Vet, called us to give us an update later that night, just before he went home for the day on 7/2. The next day he called us at about 9-10 AM to give us an update that she was doing better, eating more. Still had the runs, but her stomach and colon weren't as bad as the day before. We decided to do some blood work to see if she had ant underlying health issues that we didn't know about that may be causing her symptoms (diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, distention of her colon etc.). If the blood work came back normal, then we decided to go ahead and do surgery if she didn't improve at all by morning. A Dr. and Tech was always present at the Vet hospital and the animals in their care are never left unsupervised/unattended. He called us again before he headed home last night to give us another update. She improved more, was eating more, her stools were starting to have firm and have shape instead of a watery mess. He decided to take her catheter out last night. This morning, when Dr. Hess called to give us an update, she was doing a lot better, stools have shape, colon no longer distended, no blockage. He thinks that she was struggling to poo the first night because of all the gas that had built up which caused the distention, but that has since complete gone away and she's ready for discharge so I'm on my way to pick her up now. We paid a deposit the first day we brought her in of $1190.85 (not sure exactly what that included though). We got 2 quotes o. The 2nd day, one for the hospitalization and another for just the surgery. The hospitalization was quoted at a little under $1100.00, while the surgery was quoted at a little over $1900.00. Since we paid $1190.85 as the deposit, and no surgery was done, I'm not sure if we'll have something to pay when we pick her up, but I'll update my review once I get home. The emergency visit cost just to have her looked at though cost $150.00 as long as you bring your pet there between the hours of 8-9am to 5pm, anything after 5pm costs $200.00 for the on initial emergency evaluation/visit. I'll include copies of my quotes, if people are interested.

These amazing vets listen to your concerns and have saved my pets lives multiple times. I have brought my rabbits in several times over the years usually in an emergency state. The vets do everything they can to help. I have a pet pig too that has had multiple health issues since she was a baby. Most recently my pig needed emergency care and the vets and vet technicians listened to my concerns and made sure my pig received emergency management immediately. They are extremely compassionate and have listened to me cry and voice my concerns time and time again. They call you over the phone to explain things and answer your questions. They research and reach out to other vet experts to find out exactly what is best. I owe them everything for my babies.

I brought in my very old red eared slider turtle as an emergency. They were able to get her in right away. They were extremely nice and compassionate. I am very happy to know there is a resource for exotic pet owners with emergencies.

Always a pleasure and I appreciate that vets are open and communicate and do not overcharge on unnecessary services. Dr. Musik was awesome and her and staff quick and informative. My bearded dragons are well taken care of by them! Thank you for all you do!
Katarina Trainor
I had a scare with my ferret a few nights ago. Most amazing vet I ever had! Now my little one is doing much better. So thankful that staff was so kind and made my fur baby all better!
Smilecentaur
I brought my ball python here for a wellness check up. They were very helpful in informing me of anything I could do to improve my snakes care, the document they gave me after the visit is really indepth. Great place to take your snake

My partner and I had an unfortunate emergency with our old rat late last night that ended with the decision to put her to sleep. I am so very thankful for the compassion from every single staff member who helped us during such a scary an unexpected time. They brought our girl back immediately, then explained all the details of what they did and of our options. We had some time to say goodbye before they helped her pass. I can’t say how grateful I am that this was team we found to help us through this awful situation. Thank you all for what you do.

i have a baby bearded dragon and he recently has gotten sick, i brought him here because his current vet was closed since it was a sunday. they took him in and did an even more thorough exam than the other vet did. figured out what could be the problem and sent me on my way with medication for him! everyone was so polite and explained everything so i could fully understand what the problem was. they’re letting me come in again and bring a stool sample to be 100% certain the problem is what we think it is. this place really does care for your animals and is just all around wonderful! definitely gonna bring my little beardy here now for future visits❤️
Kathy Higgins
Such friendly staff. Non judgmental doctors. They handled the euthanasia of our sweet leopard gecko with love and understanding. A special touch of kindness is that they offer a complimentary clay print of your animals hand/claw/paw. That to me shows how much they care, not just about the animals but, about the people too. ❤️
Shawnda Mac
Took my green cheek here when he was barely hanging on. Thanks to their quick work he is doing much better. I will be changing to these guys for all veterinary care for all my birds. They are just over an hour away but it's definitely worth the drive to know they are going somewhere that they will truly be cared for. It is also nice that they are on the more affordable end of care too!

I went here because my hamster was bleeding out of his private part and we took him here, they came out with a long sheet of paper with all types of things that would cost $700 that I didn’t know of. They wanted to give it to my hamster but they had to have my permission and told me to pick what I would like to give my hamster. I just chose the antibiotics and things to help him cope with the pain and it ended up being $200. I gave it to him for the past month and he got well with it. I’m happy it worked but disappointed because it looked like they were gonna put a bunch of random things in him to get money. I like the place and I still go because they’re good at their job.

I brought my bearded dragon in as an emergency case. He was seen immediately. The staff was professional, informative, and caring. My dragon received excellent care. I would highly recommend this vet clinic.

I had an emergency with a small parrot and appreciate the care he received. He was professionally triaged immediately upon arrival and findings were presented with treatment options. My parrot friend is recovering comfortably at home!

I recently had to take my bird here for an exam as she was suddenly ill. I ended up having to have her seen as a daytime emergency visit (as opposed to a regularly scheduled vet visit or an after-hours emergency visit.)
Overall, the visit was fine. Because of COVID, there are unusual procedures, such as curbside drop-off and owners not allowed inside. I get that and it is not a part of the review.
After dropping off my bird, I waited in the parking lot. I couldn’t bring myself to leave, just in case... After roughly an hour, I got a call from the vet with an update.
This is where the issue starts. Not with the update, although that could have been better.
The first update was fine. The right questions were asked and procedural options discussed with rough estimates given.
BUT... this was the only update I received between drop off and when they were finished SIX HOURS LATER. After several hours of no word, I was starting to expect the next call to consist of “Sorry, you don’t have a pet any more.”
There was a severe lack of communication. It would have taken less than 5 minutes to call me after a couple of hours to say “hey, we're waiting on her to poop so we can do a fecal exam.” or SOMETHING. Instead, there was silence.
When I finally did hear back from the vet, I don’t feel that the vet really LISTENED to me most of the time. I’ve run into this before where vets believe that they are the fount of all knowledge and you have little to offer. The vet asked all the right questions and did hear my answers. But the answers were ignored if they did not support what the vet had decided must be the answer (regardless of whether the decided-upon answer actually fit the issue.)
My bird is home now with a pile of medications. That’s fine. The cost was extremely high, but I expected that and I okayed the costs.
However, I am not thrilled with the fact that I don’t know which pharmacy has the prescriptions. I only know the city it is in. I am not thrilled with the determination from the vet that basically said “we aren’t really sure what’s wrong. We know the individual issues, but not the cause. But I’m sure that it’s because you let her have X.” (Completely disregarding that the amount of X that she gets is minuscule and she has never had any reaction like this before.)
I think a bit more information could have been gathered and incorporated. I think the vet could have actually given me credit as an owner of a bird. And I think that “We aren’t sure, but here is what we are doing to find out.” is a better answer than “We don’t actually know, but I’m sure it is THIS.”
As an emergency vet, they cared for my bird well and did seem to try to cover all the bases. If I had gotten even one more update than I did, they would have gotten 4 stars. But leaving me sitting in my car for nearly5 hours after the first update was too long and not good handling of the situation.
Jenelle Kemp
The staff here truly cares about your animal companions and presents a treatment plan with all available options so you can choose based on severity and budget. They also have ALL the treats so your little friend can look forward to the next visit even after all the nasty medical business is finished. I will absolutely bring my girls here again when they need care.

I cannot thank these guys enough for getting my little parrotlet in right away and immediately treating him. He's almost back to his old self now and their fast diagnosis and treatment saved his life. They are kind, compassionate and really know what they're doing!
Lorna Johnston
I had a sick budgie and they took me within two hours. They treated me and my bird with the utmost care and respect. They found out what was wrong and explained it to me thoroughly. I will be taking my bird to them from now on. I highly recommend that if you have a sick critter give them a call.
Lauren Gardner
They do not get enough credit. I was there for over 2 hours for what would have been a short apt and i am in no way complaining. Because while i was there i saw staff spending time comforting owners, trying to handle numerous phone calls, attending to ER patients ASAP, etc. They were working so hard and being pulled every which way due to a flow of ER situations and i feel like the staff are not given enough credit for thier hard work. They clearly cared about every animal who came through while i was there and since my animal was not an emergency situation i was happy to wait our turn. If you don't have a flight to catch or child to pick up, practice patience and grace. I feel like in these tough and emotional situations alot of people become a bit selfish. All the other animals there are just as important as yours. These people have these jobs because they do care. They do not encourage ppl to put down thier pets for $. They don't get that $ added to thier paycheck. If they were in this biz for the $ they are in the wrong biz... most of the time someone grieving and upset is looking for someone to blame... please take that into consideration when reading the reviews.
Corine Berner
They're great, had an emergency with my feather baby, they saw him right away & we had great follow up visits

If you own a parrot / cockatoo I highly recommend this place.
They have 24/7 ER.
I have an issue where my female little corella cockatoo swallowed some sharp + toxic metal. She was pooping blood. They were fast to diagnose & knowable about what paths & treatments to take. She is still week but improving so far.

If you’re looking for a Exotic veterinarian clinic for your pet than you’ve found it The Center for bird and Exotic Animal Medicine are the most amazing.people When you walk in you are greeted by a warm and friendly front staff. The techs are awesome, their thorough on getting your information and gentle with your pet. The veterinarians I can’t say enough. These veterinarians are the most loving, caring, kind and compassionate people, they treat your pet like it was thier own. When one of my bunnies passed everyone in that office was so kind. I continue to bring my second bunny here because of how great this entire office is.Thank you for keeping my bunny healthy.

Everyone took such amazing care of Yoshi when he needed it most! The amount of care, empathy, and communication helped me to feel at ease, and he healed quicker than I imagined he could! I was able to bring him back home the very next day and was receiving emails/calls throughout the entire process with updates, and even received photos while he spent the night in the hospital!
Sarah Harmon
The staff at Center for Bird and exotic animal medicine were wonderful. They took care of my two pythons and helped me with any questions or concerns I had.

Worked in our sick Green Cheek Conure in on a busy Saturday. They were able to do some tests in house (fecal and crop swab) and were able to see he had a nasty bacterial crop infection. Not even 24 hrs later now and he is starting to act a little more like himself. They were able to give us some antinausea and antibiotics to take home with a very informative how to YouTube video they've filmed on how to administer the meds. Only complaint is we couldn't go inside with him to his appointment, but that is their current covid protocol, but they made the best of it and had the vet call and give us updates and inform us of his situation and testing options all along the way. Thank you for having weekend hours, emergencies don't always happen M-F and with so few people that see birds we feel lucky you were only an hour and a half away.
Debra Forsythe
With Covid guidelines still in place. It was a curbside wait while our pet was examined.
Very hot, long, long drive.
But our Alyce was cared for.
Steep prices tho.
I'm happy they were able to get our bunny in.

We took our Rabbit Rose in a year ago for a spinal injury. The vet gave us all of our options in a very non-judgemental way. We opted to try xrays first. Luckily we were able to see her fracture and come up with a care plan to take care of her in way that she would have the best odds at healing. While nothing was a guarantee, the vet went over every option throughly and outlined every possible outcome. We left with medication to help her her comfortable and to protect her stomach as well as a special formula food in case she wasn't eating. Every single thing that could go wrong was described in great detail as well as ways to help counteract any negative effects from her new living conditions such as urine scald and how to manually relieve her bladder should she stop going on her own. A defined set of symptoms that should bring us back immediately. They made sure we were very well informed. They were kind and compassionate. We had follow ups and continued to see improvement. We are 1 year out from her spinal injury and Rose is as close to normal as she can be. Most people don't even notice her slight limp when she is tired. Thank you to the vets here, the receptionist and the lab techs who helped us <3

It was suggested that we go here for emergency services for our hamster. We unfortunately chose end of life services given her condition, but the staff was so nice and accommodating during the entire process. It was very sweet and made it much easier. Thank you ❤️

First visit there with our gecko. Staff was amazingly nice. The tech was quite thorough in her questions about our pets history, health, substrate, diets, symptoms, etc. Vet was very nice, answered all question and in light of her very busy night took time with me, didnt rush. And in the end I left with one of the lowest vet bills I've had in years lol. Literally. Thank you from Stardust and myself

We use the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine for both our regular exotic animal checkups and any and all emergency situations that arise. Their staff is always professional, able to explain our options clearly, and understand the close emotional relationship between pets and people.

Chester, my Guinea pig had emergency dental issues. The front desk, vet techs, and veterinarian were amazing and informative and chester was seen right away. I cant recommend them enough. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience during a stressful time. Thank all so much, what a wonderful practice!

Thank you for doing all you could for Baby bird, and thank you all for being so kind and comforting. I will miss her so much, but I'm glad to know she was in good hands when she died. Thank you.

I want to thank Dr. Vikky Park and the whole team who helped me on a very difficult day. I brought my old man beardie to them because I was worried that he was not receiving adequate care from his regular vet, and he seemed to be suffering for it. The receptionist- whose name I don’t recall but who I sincerely thank- fielded my extremely disorganized and panicked call with grace, and made sure that my pet was seen as soon as we arrived.
Dr. Park gave us many options for ways we could treat my beardie for his infection, but I decided that it would not be kind to put him through treatments and surgeries that would only extend his life without necessarily improving his quality of life in that time. It had progressed too much by that time. I made the decision to euthanize him, and Dr. Park and her whole staff were incredibly respectful and accommodating through the whole process. I felt prepared to make my decision and was able to have exactly the experience I wanted for myself and my beardie. They even made a “paw” print clay ornament for me to remember him by, which I really appreciated because I knew I didn’t want to keep the ashes but still wanted something to memorialize him.
I couldn’t have asked for better care. I miss my little buddy, but I’m satisfied that I made the right choice and brought him to the right people to help me through it. Pac lived a good long life and had a peaceful end. The staff took me seriously and made me feel like they cared about him almost as much as I did. Thank you again to everyone who worked with me to make that happen. I’ll definitely be back when I welcome home another little buddy.

We had one of the most painful experiences with our furbaby, that every animal parent fears. We could do nothing for our little man. The staff here took the time to help us determine the best course for him. He was set with a genetic issue that nothing could permanently fix. We were so sad to hear this news, losing a loved one is always a devastating event. The doctor on the clock was amazing, she took us down the trail of where we needed to go to help him as best as we could. She told us exactly what was happening with our little boy, at the end of the night we had to come to a very hard call, she was with us the whole way. She even shared a few tears with us when we had to finally say fair well. Kay, was the front desk assistant, was lovely. She did everything she could to make us feel a bit calmer. This Hospital is an amazing place, I hope the staff are forever employed here. We thank you so very much for everything. Truly.

Refreshing to find a vet who actually knows their stuff when it comes to Hedgehogs. I was there for a wellness exam and they gave clear outlines on timelines for routine procedures (xrays at this age, dental once a year, etc). I was so tired of (well meaning) dog and cat vets calling my hedgehog a rodent and giving up very quickly on doing any sort of physical examination (cause of the spikes). Dr. McLaughlin was an hour late to the exam (emergency surgery, my pet was not in crisis so I was understanding), I expected an exasperated, hurried doctor after that, but she was very "present" for my exam time. She didn't hesitate to engage with my hedgehog and performed a full physical examination while talking about hedgehogs with actual knowledge and confidence. Even though it's a 90 minute drive, I feel lucky to have access to this clinic.

I had a late night emergency with my ferret and for days he was here at this wonderful center. I would highly recommend this hospital to any of my fellow exotic pet owners. They were quick, an open book of knowledge and eager to help, on top of updates and did everything they could for my boy that I thought wouldn't pull through. I am very impressed with their service and care. I was able to curbside with the dr and through all of these bad times they still were motivated for all the right reasons. They are Ryders heroes. My kids heroes. My heroes. Im so very grateful to the whole team. Thank you all.
Dawn Thomas
Many weeks ago I arrived at the hospital on a Sunday morning with my parrot covered with blood and very sick. Dr Strunk and staff took him in and at that time I had no hope at all, I just sat in the car in tears. Sassy stayed in the hospital for 3 days and came home under and intensive care regiment. We went twice a week for while for treatment, then weekly. Sassy went for his 2 week recheck yesterday, healed up and bandages off. Dr Strunk was as excited as I was. Their staff treated us so very well. They truly did save my Sassy's life for which I am grateful from my heart.

Exotic Pets is a fantastic place to take your pet. Very professional staff. They took very good care of my ornery old Parrot. She's very difficult to handle but they had no problem. I am very impressed with their veterinary care and will definitely use their services again!
Cat Silvers
Dr. Meera Music is fantastic! If you have a sugar glider, she knows her stuff and will work with you and your glider to come up with treatment plans that work. She truly cares and will do whatever is within her ability to help get a sick or hurting glider back on track. I highly recommend her!
Sarah Moore
They got my corn snake in the same day I called, and had results back quickly. He did not have any obvious health problems, so they helped me brainstorm husbandry and care to address his not eating, and made a good plan for what to do if he didn't start eating after trying those things.
Flip McGee
I have never had a bad experience with the center no matter if its for a simple checkup for your bird or something like a CAT scan they are well equipped to handle any need there. Their staff takes the time to explain everything to you no matter how many questions you have and I have used them for over 15 years without a disappointment with the service and compassion from everyone at the center.
Cherry Steely
Staff and the Doctor were very caring and professional and guided me through a difficult time and decision for my beloved pet. I appreciate everything they did for my Samus, and pray that he will be ok. Thank you
Jenn Lin
The CBEAM staff was incredible. I was a bit panicky with my baby bird (7 mo) who needed to be hospitalized. They calmly helped my sweet bird and we were able to bring him home. Thank you CBEAM!
N. Hamzic
This is our second visit, it was an emergency in midst of Covid, but they were able to make space and time between the visits and take care of our bird. The staff is very friendly and compassionate. Also to mention, we are in Seattle, but it's well worth the short drive up north. Thank you guys so much!
Blah Blurg
The doctors are very knowledgeable and the staff are pleasant, but their policies and lack of financial courtesy is awful. They don't allow customers inside, so they'll ask a lizard, that requires heat, to wait in the cold car. They fed my vegetarian lizard pellets made with who knows what. Worst of all, they don't offer any discounts, payment plans, or anything other than care credit.
Chris Thompson
CBEAM is there when you need them!
Our desert tortoise knocked over his heat lamp and burned himself. On a Sunday. Thank goodness this is a 24-hour vet! We drove from Olympia to have him seen by some of the most caring vets - Dr. Hyde and Dr. Plass - and their vet techs - specifically Eliza and Julia. His toes fell off a couple of weeks ago (don't ask) and I freaked out. Called them up, e-mailed photos, and got a call back as soon as Dr. Hyde was in the office. Vet care is a team effort - I do my stuff at home and provide good reports on his progress, and Dr. Hyde gives me the support and information I need to keep Indio going. Exotic pets aren't for everyone; their care is expensive and when things go wrong, they can go wrong in a spectacular fashion. I'm glad CBEAM is there for us. I only wish they were a little bit closer to Olympia!!! Thank you, Dr. Hyde!
Stephanie Scarfone
Such a great exotic vet! Brought my leopard gecko in during emergency hours and they were very helpful and caring. My leo is doing great and on the mend thanks to the team at CBEAM!
awesome boss
i have baby emus and one is sick. after about 35 phone calls to other vets i finally was able to speak with a person and they agreed to see my emu baby . i received the best service and Jack will be ok now. I cant thank you enough it was well worth the trip coming from Shelton
Bless you Geneva
Travis MacLaren
As always CBEAM and their staff are friendly and professional. The cost for a quick office visit was $30 for my rat Rosie, and we were in and out. Their curbside services are great during all the Covid situation.
Brittany Bilson
I have been taking my 4 conures here since I moved to Bothell 6 years ago. They have had visits with many doctors on staff and each have been knowledgeable and professional. I had one emergency about a year ago and I was seen ASAP and he was treated immediately. Highly recommend.
Fnu Lnu
Glad to have it available, why 3 stars. Very concerning that they don't look at science and are still cov locked down. Follow through was mediocre.
Christopher St. Clair
I have had nothing but great experiences here with a too-far-gone-to-save rescue reptile, but a word of caution: their website says they see small pet livestock but they told me they weren't able to see my goat or alpaca for routine care as they advertised. If I have any birds, reptiles, or pocket pets that need care in future I will definitely use these folks but I recommend they remove the website info saying they can help other exotics to prevent the frustration the client feels when they've been careful to check and then are told they cannot provide such services when they call.
Michael
These are people that realy know exotic pets and can take care of them.
Melissa Bensch
They got us in during emergency hours and they treated our little guy with care :) I was honestly just happy to have found a place that could get us in so quickly :)
Amy Anderson
This is a very lovely care center for animals. The staff are so nice and wonderful, and very caring. I had to put down my pet and they sent a card in regards to him. They are very comforting and have never let us down. I highly recommend this place to take your pets
kristen bohannon
Great experience here! They got my daughters Hamster in within an hour of calling. All staff and Dr were very kind and did everything they could to help our furry baby. They truly care ❤ Thank you!!
Margret Sigurbjornsdottir
They are awesome!!! Cant thank them enough for all their help with my bearded dragon. My bearded dragon hurt his leg and got really sick and everyone has been so helpful. I learned a lot and they really helped us when I wasn’t sure if he would be able to be ok. They know what they’re doing. I will never take him anywhere else.
Tiffany Hom
i had an emergency with my conure on a saturday night and i was able to bring her in asap . so thankful there is a 24 hr avian specialist near seattle . i’m really appreciative of the entire staff and for the excellent service i received over the entire weekend .i highly recommend them for all your pet care needs . your pet deserves it. thank you !
Deborah Oaks
Vet was really knowledgeable about bunny care and laid out several approaches for us to take for her grooming. I really appreciated the time she took to share information with us.
Fatima Ruiz
I had a great experience! It was my first time taking my dove to this center and they were very helpful, very caring, and they make sure you don’t leave with any doubt. The doctor was quick to let me know about my dove’s results and what not.
kelly hamilton
I called them when noone else would see my appleyard duck "Mama". From the very friendly tech, the very professional receptionist, to the Dr herself, it was a wonderful experience. Thanks for everything you did for us.
Johnna Emerson-Palachuk
Dr. Strunk literally saved my bunny O.J. I knew he was sick, but I didn't know how bad. I was able to get an emergency slot that day and thankfully, she knew he needed a workup. I will disclose that it was not cheap, but before doing anything they were upfront with the costs of each recommended test (itemized) and gave me a full estimate beforehand. She came in and discussed the tests she considered most important, thus narrowing it down some. I was able to get him the meds he needed and learned some new things about buns in general that I didn't know previously. In the end, my bunny son is so much better (ALIVE I will say!) Thanks to Dr. Strunk and the whole vet team (including techs!) at CBEAM.
Also note that they offer CareCredit here as well. I have used it before for something else (not vet care), and it was a pretty seamless process.
Sarah Sparkman
Dr. Music and the team took great care of us again. They listen and are thoughtful in the course of treatment. They always work to take the best care of our Buns.
Erica Sanders
Had a great experience. Staff was very thoughtful, cheerful and compassionate. Very instructive on treatment plan, medication information and follow up already scheduled.
Suzanne Bachler
Very friendly staff members that genuinely care for your pet. Been taking my bunny there for over 3 years and always have a positive experience!
Katherine Ellsworth
I brought my rabbit, Caspian, to get his rhd vaccine. Due to covid, we parked in the lot and they came out to get him. Though I wish I could have gone in with him, it was very fast and efficient and I’m glad he’s vaccinated now.
Ashlea Cason
I took my friend and her dog here and they were so helpful I'm thinking of taking my dog here too. They treat your animals with respect they love all animals and overall just an amazing place. And the rooms are meant for the dogs to also play aand enjoy their visit as well
Sydney Locker
They were so so professional and kind! My bearded dragon had a pretty big prolapse and they took him in and addressed it with "I think I can fix this" and made sure he was okay and i am extremely thankful for them!!
dee freeman
What a relief to find a veterinarian who really knew what questions to ask, listened to my concerns and was able to make a positive difference in our 42 year old parrot’s life. It was worth the two hour drive each way.
Betina Concepcion
Took my guinea pig here and the doctor explained everything well. They took really good care of her and found out the cause of her problems.
Ashley
The compassion here just.. really made a horrible situation more bearable. Thank you so much to the woman that handled everything for me. Rip biscuit. Not sure why there is a sign about people threatening them. You have to be a special kind of horrible little gremlin to act that way to the people in this business.
Rayne Corcoran
They take such good care of my bird. I go here both for very services and occasionally boarding when I'm out of town. The staff are friendly and care so much for the animals.
Don Hicks
Very understanding and helpful with my end of life geriatric parrot.
SQUEEDGE MONSTER
Reptile owner here- recently had a positive experience bringing in one of my leopard geckos to see Dr. Strunk for an exam. Both the vet and her tech were awesome— the vet was very concise and professional, the tech very friendly and helpful; both struck me as knowledgeable and experienced.
The particular day I came in was quite chaotic- there were something like 8 emergency visits and I could tell the staff hand their hands full. Despite this, the front desk gave me their full and courteous attention when I spoke with them, and an assistant came and sat with me in the lobby to get the ball rolling while exam rooms were full. Everyone was very professional and considerate during this process.
I was given a lot of options when it came to treatment plans and diagnostic procedures I could do and what would work within my budget- everything laid out very clearly. It felt flexible and not like anything unnecessary was being pushed onto me or my pet.
We decided to go with a more basic treatment, see how it went, and then do a follow up with diagnostics if needed. Thankfully, the treatment seems to be working quite well and my little guy is doing much better. Because of this positive experience, I would likely come back again.
Steven Sparkman
Great staff, very friendly. The wait for an appt can be pushed if someone has an emergency, but I greatly appreciate them putting emergencies first. Vets are super informative when you ask questions.
Amber Piel
I was so pleased with the kind and thorough exam that was given to my Guinea Pigs. The cleanliness of the facility. The staff is very knowledgeable and I would highly recommend this veterinary office to any one who has exotic animals.
Iris K. A.
Right after sergery, I was told no medication, it takes a couple of days, I have to contact pharmacy...what?? But after I left office, I got call to come back to pick up medication...It was weird experience!
Camryn Jones
This place never fails to properly diagnose and treat my little animals. In my opinion, they fail to explain the details of what is wrong, and they jump straight to fixing the problem, which they are great at. After surgery, my gecko came back home dehydrated and drank water for a solid 10 minutes, but her life was saved so I am not complaining. Super friendly staff, very compassionate all around.
R L
We unfortunately had to use their emergency services twice for our birds
Their emergency after hours services are quick and compassionate. Very comforting, up front, and professional even at 2AM.
We've also taken our birds in for regular check-ups and those appointments have gone well also. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Lynne Anderson
Their staff is amazing and caring. We brought our very loved bunny in to save her and found we needed to put her down. They were so kind and caring through the whole process. It was late at night and they were open and willing to help us. They did a paw print for my daughter to keep since it was her bunny. They even sent a card from the whole staff. I really appreciated how wonderful they are. Thank you for everything
Laura Balke
My guinea pig was having health issues. I took her in as an emergency and she unfortunately passed away. But the staff was incredible. I can tell they really care about every animal that comes in and the owner as well
Davicus1
They are knowledgeable regarding reptiles in ways I have not experienced with other vets in my area. It is worth the hour drive.

Awesome Avian vets and staff.
Updating: Still awesome and we are very happy they are there to keep our birdies happy and healthy. Thank you all for your wonderful service especially your caring and compassionate ways. Our cockatoos never had better care.
Jessica Shields
Great place for small pets that are not cats and dogs. Only complaint is you tend to wait a lot. They have lots of emergencies to tend to. I've always had the best care and they truly love the animals they are caring for. I've taken my bunnies, hammies, chinchilla, and guinea pigs here for the last 8 yrs.
Peter O'Leary
I brought Shadow our guinea pig in when she was sick. Even though she passed, they treated her so well and I could tell they really cared for her. Very nice and caring staff. I would definitely recommend.
Rainy Havard
Brought in my bird and they were super understanding and helpful in explaining the costs and processes. They truly care for your animals!
Owen Jones
Amazing people! Made our little bird feel extremely comfortable. Very knowledgeable! We have found our regular vet ☺
Michelle M
We had excellent service and care when our gecko had a prolapse. They took us in immediately and were very present and patient. The doctors were fantastic in all aspects of dealing with our gecko and keeping us well informed. The front desk staff was terrific as well — we’d highly recommend this clinic.
Andrew Gemkow
What an amazing place. For once, I feel as though the staff and vet care about the animals they treat. They are, most importantly, compassionate to the owners and understand what it means to love a pet. If you have anything from a rat to a hedgehog to a parrot to a peahen to a goat to a snake to a bunny (all pets we saw come in while we were there) they are the place to go. I wish our visit was just a routine visit, but our experience with an unusual illness proves to show their finest work.
June Zackuse
They were very informing, came across as living and had true concern for my animal baby and kept me in the loop every step of the way.
Rylie Mcclure
The only vet I will bring my guinea pig to. Very caring staff, but they're awful at communicating. Be prepared to call them all the time with questions since they don't tell you much of anything. And you really have to stay on top of them if you need a medication refill. It's annoying, but worth it for proper care.
Martha Fulton
Professional, kind and knowledgable staff. The Dr was great. Took care of any questions and followed up with a phone call to be sure everything was ok. I highly recommend this clinic.
dorelle edwards
I have always had a great experience here. I have taken my guinea pigs and turtle to CBEAM for emergencies, annuals, and boarding, and have been very satisfied. The staff is wonderful and I love Dr Music.
Allen Winchester
They are the sweetest and most understanding people you will ever find! They know what they are talking about and will do whatever they can to help your pet!!! 10/10! I will always go here for my exotic babies!!!!
Anthony Johnson
Very friendly staff take care of your little babies whether they have fur or feathers. Then you're a couple of times now happy with every experience. Going back next week for a checkup.
Anna M
Solid help with animals, but I don't love the office staff - it was kind of difficult to deal with them. I waited a decent time in the exam room. You pay $54 dollars more (in addition to the $54 regular exam price) to make an appointment when they don't have any. I didn't get a ton of guidence on what tests to choose, even though it was my first visit. Overall helpful, but not a great experience.
Sean Kipinä
Great for emergencies but for regular followups I'd prefer using my own vet. This place is very expensive and has saved my birds life's a few times but still feel like a number when I come in.
Lauren Root
Dr. Music was so kind and patient with my 140lb. pet pig, Wilson. Everyone at the clinic is kind and supportive. I feel well informed and Wilson, though not completely cooperative, was given compassionate care. I am a fan of this clinic!
Brandy McBride
I went in with my daughter who's pet rat was in distress. The doctor and staff were very helpful and passionate. Highly recommend them for exotic pets.
Kelli Wickline
I was very happy with our first experience with the Center. The vet was very informative and gave me all our options. The cost was excellent as well and didn't break the bank.
Melissa Case
Very accommodating with working us in when our bird wasn't feeling well. All of the staff were kind, caring and knowledgeable. We will be continuing our care with The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine!

I take my 12-year-old chinchilla here. They are very caring and thorough. I've boarded him a few times, and he always comes home healthy and happy. They have state-of-the-art technology, and they will answer your emergency call at any time. We moved to California for a few years, and one of the great perks of moving back to Seattle was being close to this vet facility again.
Morgan H
Extremely helpful and caring people. Dr. Music helped me with my two cockatiels and I would definitely recommend her to a friend.
She's great with animals and great with people. I feel comfortable with her and my birds do too.
Definitely worth the long drive.
Prabjot Kaur
I took my rabbit in late at night and they saw him past hours! The provider was very caring and diligent. It was a good experience.
Teresa Hagerty
I would like to take a moment to say thank you for the excellent care given to our pet hedgehog while boarding with you.
Snuffles the hedgehog was boarded with your team from 3/5 - 3/9. This was her first visit with you but we knew within the first few minutes that she was in great hands. This was very important to us as our tiny hedgehog is the huge in our hearts. It was comforting to know that we could be out of county and she would be loved, safe, and healthy.
We were very impressed with your team, the level of care providing to our little one, and the spotlessly clean enclosure given to us at pick-up. You even cleaned her wheel! And, most awesomely, our picky little eater actually gained weight during her stay. We were thrilled to have her home but I'm not sure she missed us at all. (this is good)
Thank you again from us and Snuffles. She will certainly be visiting you again later this summer. I'm sure she is already looking forward to it.
Audrey Martin
Had to bring my snake in after being stuck in her log, and staff was extremely kind and patient to me. Offered me some coffee and walked me through the process of my animal's treatment, and solved the problem very quickly. Extremely professional and approachable, thank you CBEAM!
Stephanie Bowsher
Never have I been so impressed by an animal clinic.
My family has brought out pets to the same vet for thirty years, with a small exception here or there. However, they would not look at an infection occurring in my year-old backyard flock of Chickens; a new venture for me in my pet-owning experience.
After seeing the symptoms in the evening, I called emergency, explaining that I honestly didn't know what a chicken emergency looked like, but her eyes were foaming. The woman on the phone was phenomenal at calming me down and easing my fear; that she was not on death's door, that this was some sort of infection and I could safely wait through the night, keeping her isolated. And I had an appointment the very next day with Dr. McLaughlin
I arrived with patient zero, terrified after googling for hours the night before that I was going to have to cull my entire flock and that all hope was lost. The waiting room was light and clean and nice and cool on this hot summer day, and the reception very pleasant and kind. They were running a bit behind (ended up only about 15 minutes late), but they had squeezed me in, so I didn't mind this one bit.
The examination room itself was also large and light, not nearly as cramped as the vet I'm used to, and Dr. McLaughlin was phenomenal. She spent a very long time asking questions about my flock's history, my chicken's history, what her behavior had been like. We went through an examination, and while she was clearly professional and took things seriously, she also comforted me like a friend with my worries for this pet.
We discussed our options, not once did I feel like any suggestion was forced upon me or extraneous. And before these suggestions were made, we talked about what sort of chicken owner I am; and once I explained that I am realistic about the health of one chicken and the reality of a "barnyard animal", I was concerned for the flock as a whole, we together devised a plan to not just treat this chicken, but test for everything that could affect my entire flock.
After learning how to do injections for the antibiotics (which are filled in individual needles, so I don't have to worry about anything!), and once again answering every question under the sun, I took my chicken home to follow through with our plan.
But then, the next day, I received a call from Dr. McLaughlin. We were still waiting on the test results, but she wanted to see how my chicken was doing, and check to see if I had any other questions.
That night, some test results were back, and while they have to continue to grow the cultures, it's not as dire as it could be. But when I told her I have another chicken now experiencing symptoms, she told me she would leave a note for their weekend emergency doctors and to bring this other chicken in to be weighed and given the proper dose for the 10 day antibiotic regime as well, at no exam fee (under the umbrella of "treating flock health")!!!!
This place is unbelievable. If you have a backyard flock that are equally pets as they are providers, or even if you are on a large farm with a flock issue, it is absolutely worth bringing your chicken here for a checkup. My total cost was NOTHING compared to the loss of my entire flock, and even then, it was still far less than I'd expected to pay for all these tests and exams compared to the vet I take my dogs and cats to!
And please visit Dr. McLaughlin; you won't be disappointed. Her assurances and empathetic demeanor will soothe your fears while still maintaining the professionalism and straight-forwardness you want in a vet.
Thank you!
Elf Spencer
Pros: The staff! They are sweet and kind and just wonderful people. I've been seeing the practice since they were still in old Bothell (when they had that finch cage in the waiting room), when they saved my tortoise's life, as a baby. I will be forever grateful to them for that. They are clearly passionate about what they do, and love their patients.
Cons: Not a fan of how much the vets like to sedate patients, nor how much they push for expensive, and sometimes invasive, procedures, right away.
Also not a fan of the price tag --
I know it's partly because they're a 24/7 clinic, and that means more overhead for overnight staff (but I feel like that's what the emergency fees are for?)
They don't have to pay for Dr Maas, anymore, so that's likely saving them a bundle! :p
Overall, I don't generally see them as my usual exotic vet, but they're in my top 3.
I do recommend them, but only if you have pet insurance or deep pockets.
Sophie W
Staff seemed very knowledgeable, gave me good info on cleaning ears and bedding. They recommended testing without giving me a price first. They recommended I sign up for a pet care plan for 50$ a month per animal and that it would save me money on a spay but I did not get a cost comparison for an actual spay procedure/blood testing etc so I could make a knowledgeable decision, and there seemed to be a lot of judgement about decisions to spay or not spay my rabbits. Also since I went here one of my bunnies has been sneezing which has not happened before. I think these people are good vets but seemed a bit money hungry. May find another vet.
J Balz
I still don't understand some of the comments below. I have never seen better care for an animal, anywhere.
This place is outstanding. If it wasn't for their expert care and advanced diagnostics, my ferret would be gone, just like the previous vet advised. Instead, they treated him just as seriously as my own doctor would have treated me. They are professional, knowledgeable and skilled. I have been in many times now, and all the doctors and staff are friendly and helpful, and I have spoken with so many other people in the lobby at this point that I am actually surprised that I have not yet found an unhappy client (except for that one person who loudly ranted with a russian accent for an hour that she shouldn't have to pay for services since "these are "God's animals", but really, I'm not counting that one).
They aren't free, but when comparing to my dog's vet, comparable services cost the same or less here. I think that when you consider how many different types of animals this staff has to be specialists for, it's a bargain. Plus they are available 24/7. Can't get that with my own doctor.
Bailey Mattern
They call the day after the appointment and make sure that your pet is doing okay, they even call a few days later to check in with you about your pet. They're an amazing group of people who care about your animals and will make sure your doing everything right to care for your animals. I've taken in both my mouse and hamster to them for the respiratory infections and they've always have sent me home with hope that they will be better with time, and they have. I would recommend this place for small animals and exotic pets.
CJ Kim
We have brought our rabbits several times over the last few months and have always had a great experience with them. In January we had to go through the unfortunate experience of putting one of our rabbits to sleep after several unexpected health complications, and Dr. Meyer and Dr. Strunk were compassionate and transparent throughout the entire experience. They made every effort to try and save our rabbit, and gave us all the information we needed at every step to make the best decision for our bunny. Though we miss our rabbit very much, we are comforted knowing that she was given the best chance and was under the best care possible. We have also taken our other rabbit to get checked out by them for both regular check ups and for an emergency appointment, and they have always been accommodating and friendly with us. They are our go-to vet for rabbits and we would highly recommend them!
Lizzie Maslen
They are always busy with all sorts of fun animals coming in and out, receiving outstanding care. Dr. Music got our turtle back on her A game. Awesome team!
MEGAN SCOTT
I've only been going here a few months (since we got our beardie) but I've had nothing but positive experiences, especially with Dr. McLaughlin. The staff is professional and kind. My only complaint is the price of procedures, but it's just one sacrifice for excellent care and a knowledgeable staff. The lobby is exceptional and I was pleasantly surprised to see a discount on my bill for being a veterinary employee at a different clinic.
Kalon Jelen
A fine, expensive vet for exotic animals. They're a bit out of the way, and they have occasional difficulties getting back to people, but they're competent and kind.
Sephi Coyle
The staff and doctor were very caring. I was able to get in the day I called and everyone was kind, helpful and professional. Highly recommend!
Danielle Ayres
They did a great job with the curb side assistance since covid is still hanging around. They were on time, and I got to speak with the Dr. On the phone and she explained everything to me. Will come back again
Lisa Ibsen
I have been going here for years. At the old location the fabulous team saved my bunny's life when he ate a poisionous dandelion outside. He was shutting down when I came to them and he lived another 7 years with no problems after this ordeal. They helped my guinea pig, and bird since. The staff is kind and the medical team is knowledgeable and thorough. I'd never go anywhere else.
Da Zozz
Great clinic for a variety of animals outside your standard cat and dog pets and the staff is fantastic and very helpful.
Courtney Cook
I would give them 5 stars if their emergency phone service worked for me... the person said to go to a place that doesn’t accept exotics which meant I had to put my dying exotic animal through the stress of an unnecessary car ride. The next morning I drove up to their office and they were so kind.... it was expensive (because it was an emergent new exotic patient) but they answered my questions with compassion and helped me make the tough decision. They even offered me a print to remember my buddy which I thought was a nice touch. I will be using them for my exotics needs in the future.
Shayla Schiffler
They were willing to work me in same day with my sick baby chameleon. Everyone was so nice. The doctor was very realistic in what they could and couldn't do, and how bad my baby's prognosis was but still had many treatment options for me. Before getting started a tech went over an estimate with all treatments available as well as pricing so I was aware and able to make the decisions I needed. Although it took a very long time, people kept checking in letting me know why it was taking so long and that they hadn't forgotten about me. A receptionist even came in to let me know I wasn't trapped in the room and that I could come get coffee, hot chocolate, or even some fresh apple cider if I wanted. Everyone there was so nice and knowledgeable and I appreciate them so much.
David Perchlik
Awesome people. They took great care of our budgie and we even got a goodie bag. They called they next day to check in. Overall great experience.
Jenn Tenn
I can’t thank Dr. Hess, Elizabeth and the other clinic staff for quickly acting to help my bird and me today. Kind, understanding and knowledgeable, you helped us immensely.
Kimberly Akre
We had to bring our guinea pig Scarlett in for an emergency. The staff was wonderful and took such good care of our little piggy girl. We can't thank you enough for your services
Maxanova Pantano
Incredibly kind and respectful. Did everything they could to save my dying animal. When she didn't make it, they gave me a handprint for free.
I appreciate what they did for me at the end of my animals life more than I have words for.

Heads up! Long review; but important to read. began taking my 18 year-old Severe Macaw here last year. We have had nothing positive experiences with the care he has received. He has been a healthy little boy his whole life, zero health issues. Last year he was seen by one of their other vets, whom was fantastic with him (Dr. Mclaughlin ). Only one other in the room at the time and his exam took as long as needed. She was very quiet, calm, and gentle with him. He was unhappy (justifyably so) but not in pain. He just went home after and slept and preened. Long day!
So we took him in again for his annual. (Beak, nails, bloodwork, physical). He was molting at the time and I became concerned about how he'd handle being poked and prodded. We got a different vet this time. I guess their senior aviation specialist. There were a ton of interns in the room and she went as fast as possible. She seemed to be rougher as she handled him, and he continuously cried out in pain. I've never seen him do that before. He has his flights because he never has flown or seemed to have any interest in it. She believed he might just have some congenital malformation in his right wing, which would explain his not flying.
He's never had any falls or injuries, maintains the same weight year after year, healthy weight. Bloodwork always comes back perfect. She started pushing for me to have him sedated and to do x-days because she wanted to make a baseline for future exams. I get that, but it seemed so unnecessary at this time and pushed. She acted as if he had cancer or something. Which he doesn't. I'm always concerned about sedation. There are always risks. Having a ton of medical problems myself, I've had my share of surgery and anesthesia, waking up having seizures (have epilepsy, etc). Of course there are complications no matter who it is. She wanted to do bloodwork after and nails. He was breathing hard and crying and she said I'll give him a few to recover.
He was so traumatized. When they came back in I told him they were done for the day and he had to go home to recoup. She started questioning me as to why I thought he was so stressed and it pissed me off. I've had him for 18 years. I know my bird. and when I questioned about the x-rays I felt I was being judged and her voice seemed a bit condescending because I didn't entirely support it. The last time he went in he was given a clean bill of health and now all of a sudden he might have all these issues? I'm skeptical. When I called they told me she's their most specialized doc. Ok, so? The one who'd seen us first time had spent years in Brazil studying macaws, of course severes. I've seen top "specialists" in the past for my epilepsy, but they screw up sometimes. I ended up having up to 15 seizures a day because of a pushy, arrogant specialist. So safe to say I'm frustrated. He was molting and there'd be no more manhandling until he finished. My poor baby. Giving 5 stars because overall the staff and care have been amazing. But, still frustrated about our last experience there. Will be rescheduling with the doc I saw before. So keep in mind, when you get conflicting reports from two vets it's time to make decisions. I am not trying to talk poorly about the vet we saw this time. I don't see her as incompetent and she was nice overall, but I just didn't agree with her methods and the way she handled him. Doctors are not always right. I'm not ignoring his health, but sedating him to do x-rays right now in his life? No... Not only can I not afford them, but I don't want him going under unless it is absolutely necessary.
Mellysa Clauder Lysa JoneSmith
The doctor was very thorough and treated my pet as if she were my child. Very caring
andrea stevens
Nice friendly staff. Honest price. Couldn't ask for more with a reptile vet. I'm a new BD owner so I will be back more.
Cory & Sarah Olafson
We've brought two of our bunnies here and my mother brings her bunny here and we will not go anywhere else! They may be a pit pricey but they take care of your little ones and treat them like they are their own.
Kyra Abbott
Fantastic staff who have taken great care during both of our bunnies severe illnesses. I look forward to continuing to work with them and our now healthy rabbits!
B
Compassionate and caring vets and staff that take time to talk with you and explain everything and make the best decision for your pet. We had two crises with our bunny and worked with all of the vets and I felt confidence in all of them and they are available by phone when there is an emergency.
Bella and Kristin Nasman
Jaimie Boles
They handled by birds with great care and have been prompt in following up on tests. Will continue to bring my feathered babies here.
Hugo Ribeiro
Excellent service. We brought our sick Sugar Glider in the middle of the night, and the vet came back to the building and was extremely kind and caring.
The only issue I've had was them taking a very long time to call back on small issues. Considering the emergencies they've had to deal with, I give them a pass.
Fawn Taylor
We brought our ferret in after hours. The vet and her assistant were knowledgeable, and did their absolute best to help us. They gave us an estimate before doing any sort of tests, so we knew how much it would cost. They consistently checked in with us so we'd know what they were doing with our ferret, and respected the decisions we made. They called to ask how our ferret was doing, and offered condolences when we informed them that our ferret was deceased. They are kind, knowledgeable, and we highly recommend them.
Jessica “Robin” R-E
These people are great! I first came to them when I had an emergency with my senior rat, and when he passed away in my arms (at 3 years old) the staff were very kind and understanding, and they did everything they could to help him (and me) in his final moments. Now that I've taken in a couple of rescued shelter rat buddies, they've been wonderful with them. Our boys have been going to them for all their checks ups since April, and it's been a lot since they came to me with stubborn respiratory issues. The doctor is always kind, gentle and friendly with our rats, and the waiting room staff have been great, too. Rats don't get a lot of love in the wider world, so it's nice to see people reacting postiviely to my little buddies and caring for them. When given a new nebulizer treatment for our rats, the doctor gave us her personal email to reach out to her if we have any questions- that's going above and beyond! We're really happy with the treatment and compassion they've provided and gladly make the trek out to Bothell for the good of our boys.
Dawn Mortem
Super professional, super friendly, very affordable and LGBTQIA+ friendly. Overall the best exotics vet I have been to.
Judith Kee
Compassionate and caring! Even with all the COVID restrictions they did a fabulous job providing great care for my bunny.
Leah Spaulding
Absolutely amazing and caring staff. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the care and comfort of my pets. Highly recommended.
tina furman
The vets here are very caring and seem to go out of their way to care for my rabbits.
Yarillys
They always took such a good care of my guinea pigs. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I brought our young ferret in one day because she had fallen ill the day before. Dr. Music did a quick physical exam and knew right away she had an intestinal blockage and wrote us up 3 different estimates for 3 different options of treatment. She left the room for us to discuss them privately each time, which I thought was really thoughtful. I was very lucky that I had the money I needed for surgery because it was very expensive. My ferret stayed the night there on an IV to prep for the surgery and ended up passing the blockage on her own! I was refunded all the money they did not need for her X-rays, ultrasounds, IV medications, and prescriptions right away. I was given very thorough after care instructions and they even called me the day after to see how she was doing! Everyone who I encountered was so professional, and so friendly. I'm definitely going to get an emergency credit card for later appointments, but I'm ecstatic that I found such a great vet! Seeing my baby happy and healthy again is priceless!

I noticed my parakeet had a blood feather and called write away. I give this place five stars. The lady was Soo kind and helpful and did not try to push me into going to the place. And even gave me lots of advice and answered all of my questions and unlike another place I called did not get frustrated! I would totally go here absolutely AMAZING 😍! you should DEFINITELY check it out.

I would very well reccomend this they may have just saved my lizards life he was suffering tail rot and they fixed him up he is doing great now it's just a little expensive but it's good to dave an animals life.
Gene E
This is the only place I will take my hens and cavies. My roommates come here with their parakeets and chinchillas.
The staff is compassionate and competent, and Dr Music is absolutely wonderful. When I had to decide on end-of-life care for my sweet guinea pig, she was helpful and non-judgmental. She gave me options and the prognosis for the options, and when I chose to forgo surgery and keep him comfortable until his mood, energy, and appetite changed, then bring him in for euthanasia, she was ready to go to help us, with no guilt or judgment. When we came in for his final visit, the whole office was very sweet and caring, knowing why we were there. Nobody likes losing a pet, but with CBEAM, you know they’re in good hands at every stage of their care.
Tyler Nelson
They took good care of my ball pythons and gave me lots of useful info for future care. Very friendly and helpful.
Leslie Kahler
This place is amazing. They know everything about birds (including chickens) They are not cheap, but they are always really good about estimates and don't judge when you need to opt for the less expensive route. Anything your baby needs, they can do it. And they have someone on call 24 hours for a pretty reasonable rate. The compassion is unmatched and the CLAW plans are a great option, like self insurance.
Bobby Coates
We bring our Lovebird here. They take fantastic care of her. I drive a long way here because I trust them and they love her. I highly recommend them.
Dan Harveland
Provided great service. Staff was caring and compassionate, helping is through a difficult time with our pet.

Okay I'm a veterinarian with 30 years clinical experience, so I understand the field pretty well. It is very enlightening to feel what it is like to be on the client/patient end of the table, worrying. Dave is a very old and beloved catfish and I was unwilling to watch him starve. Dr. Harr gave me a great lot of his time and consideration and was careful not to waste my money on tests unlikely to yield useful information. The entire experience, even in the capacity of emergency treatment, cost me less than what the average corporate day practice would have charged for an annual dog exam with fecal test and a couple of vaccines. Every person in the office exceeded all expectations. The cost of medicine and specialists (ie exotics doctors) does not change whether we're treating a hamster or an ocelot. It is not intuitive to most clients. I totally applaud how well they treated me and their unique understanding of nontraditional pets. Great thanks to Dr. Harr and the rest and I have high hopes for Dave.
Cyndi Julian
I had an emergency with my cockatoo, Bubba after normal hours. I called the emergency number and was quickly able to speak to someone. We drove to the clinic and the Doctor was there waiting for us. Bubba received excellent care that night and on the subsequent visits. The staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this clinic to anyone with a bird or exotic animal.
Laura Neumann
Our guinea pig got sick over the holidays, so we were left scrambling to find someone to help her. These folks made time for us on a very busy day. They spent plenty of time with our cavy, let us know what was going on, and got us all home on the same day. They didn't push for unneeded tests, and we felt they knew what they were doing. AND they've been following up with us to make sure out guinea pig is doing better. We will absolutely be sticking with this vets.
Elizabeth M
I bring my birds here in emergency situations. Staff is nice, facility is clean, haven’t lost a bird yet ☺️

Very professional, great staff. A bit pricey but what would you pay to take care of your pet?
Zoe Ispas
They did an amazing job today with my Hedgehog he was way sicker than I thought but they played out all of his options and help compare prices and seny me home with a beautiful box and his concrete foot prints the people are wonderful
Star Navigator
This place is great, Dr McLaughlin is very thorough and attentive to our leopard gecko and is great at addressing our questions and concerns after our gecko had to have surgery.
Rob H.
We have been bringing our Russian Tortoise here for about 5 years. Everyone is always very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. It's great that we can also board her here and know she will get the best care possible. This is a great place to bring your exotic pet and know they are in caring hands.
Miranda Rollins
We had to call the emergency line last night because our ferret feel ill suddenly. Someone picked up, gave us directions, and it never felt like we were a bother. Unfortunately we had to put our ferret down, but the vet on duty was so kind and gave us all the time we needed. They worked with us every step of the way and really made us feel like they cared. I would recommend them to anyone with an exotic. Thank you for taking care of our little boy so well, I'll miss him forever but I'm glad he's not in pain anymore.
Jessica Moore
I feel more confident in my husbandry for my hatchling since they really took the time to quiz me on it and adjust my thinking gently where needed. Would highly recommend!
Amelia Bee
Just got back from an emergency visit...not only did the vet meet us at the door, but she didn't charge us for a previous test that she'd sent to a specialist when she wasn't sure about her white blood cell count (we own a rare species of duck and there isn't a lot of medical documentation on normal parameters on them).
She made us feel at ease, and now we're back home with a much calmer duck who's now happily sleeping on my bed. If you own a bird, this is the place to go. Bar none.
Sarah Frysinger
CBEAM is a class act! They know Guinea Pigs so well and the care is very thorough. Dr. Music took her time with me for my Guinea Pig’s annual check up and answered all my questions. She even pulled up the chart for my baby that I had to put down 2 months ago and answered questions and let me vent my feelings. Before I left she gave me a hug! Everyone from the front desk folks to the vet techs to the doctors, treat me like I’m the only customer and are super friendly. I feel like my furry girls are in the best hands here! Thank you to everyone!
Hunter Green
Took my rabbit in to be put down at 1am. Through the process, the tech and doc were VERY friendly and informative. Made this whole expirence one worth coming back to in an emergancy overnight!
Sarah Carlson
I have had such great experiences with the staff. They were so busy and still took the time to answer all my questions and kept me updated on our tortoise’s progress.
Sandra Keyt
They took amazing care of my two bunnies and informed me of everything they were going to do, and informed me of any after affect my bunnies may have.
Katie Schmidt
They are just great! They contact us multiple times a day with constant updates so i dont need to worry and they are so sweet and professional.
Nathan Wisner
Took care of our little hamster and was really sweet and caring. We really appreciated everything they did for her

Update: Changed from a 5 star to a 4. The hospital had charged us a couple hundred dollars for procedures but turns out they didn't perform them. When I called I was told I'd have to pay extra to do the tests THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR. The front desk people don't seem to have a good handle on things. They seem trigger happy to charge me a lot of money for tests and when I ask them to double check they say 'oh yeah it has already been performed'.
My 2 bunnies needed a check up (one of them had been diagnosed with a trichobezoar previously) and the staff at this place did a great job! Especially Dr. Music who took time to explain in detail all the options we had available. She and the others also gave us a detailed price breakdown on everything and didn't push us into going for all of them at once. Most importantly they handled the bunnies with care. I will highly recommend the center.

This place was amazing!
I called at 11pm and immediately spoke to an on call doc who was so kind and knowledgable She said my hamster's condition did not sound like an emergency but to bring him in in the am.
The kindness with which she spoke to me really put my, and more importantly, my 8 year old daughter's minds at ease.
In the am we brought him in before hours and they immediately accomodated us.
From there everything was handled in a super caring, professional , knowledgable and compassionate way!
The whole experience truly could not have felt better to me!
As it was "just a hamster" we were dealing with, it really felt good that the staff there seemed to care as much about our little guy as any other pet that people might love.
Thanks guys for providing such amazing care for our little Silverado!

I was referred to The Center for Bird and Exotic Animals by my K9 vet for my sick rabbit. Due to my rabbits medical issues the vet and I discussed euthanasia, normally not a pleasant conversation. She was kind and compassionate, walking me through the process step by step.
When we arrived for his euthanasia appointment we were taken straight back to a room for privacy. They explained everything once again and made sure I was comfortable with my decision. Afterwards they treated my rabbit carefully and with respect.
At every turn they were considerate of my emotional state, making an awful day a little easier. As a keepsake they offered to do a print of my rabbit's foot. This was done free of charge and is a lovely rememberance of my pet.
I would absolutely use this vet again and would recommend them to anyone with an exotic pet.

Professional staff, avian specialists, only place I would take an exotic pet for treatment in this area of the state.

Took in my parrot for an emergency. Thankfully, they were able to see her during this covid crisis. Very nice and helpful staff!

i don't know what's up with all the bad reviews, my experience with the center has been amazing. i have an iguana who is very overdue to lay eggs. my local vet told me she just needed more time and to wait and bring her back if she gets lethargic, which is not good advice for a sick reptile. i took her to the center instead for an initial exam (which is 48$, not $140 as someone else said) and Dr. Music suggested we do bloodwork and x-rays, (both costing less than they would have at my previous vet) and that surgery would likely be needed, which i expected. Dr. Music was extremely thorough with the information she gave me and i everyone i saw there seemed to completely love what they do. i am completely satisfied with my experience and i am confident that my iggy will be in good hands when Dr. Maas performs the surgery.

I do not understand why there are bad reviews. First off, I have a number of animals and have had numerous experiences with many vets. The vets at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine are AMAZING! My 7 year old Eclectus, Ruby, because very sick very quickly. Not only did they get us in immediately on a Saturday morning, they treated her the same day. Yes there were a lot of tests and hospital time, but that is to be expected with a sick bird. They have been with me every step of the way through her illness and surgery. Each doctor has personally taken an interest in Ruby's case and they have all been so sweet to me and my girl. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Dr. Strunk and the entire team at The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine are friendly, efficient and go above and beyond any and all expectations in caring for animals! I have a pet bird that is returning with me to Canada and this involves a TON of research, phone calls and paperwork, but Dr. Strunk wasn't phased and did absolutely everything to ensure I had everything I may need so he could cross the border safely. I made the appointment simply for a certificate of good health and she was thoughtful, thorough and incredibly generous with her time. Her exam of my tiny bird was gentle and the bill for the exam, paperwork and all of her research was very reasonable. Their reception team was equally courteous and efficient, for example, I had indicated I was interested in an appointment earlier in the week and as soon as one opened up they called me with several options. I would highly recommend this center to anyone else intending to travel abroad with their animal given their high level of knowledge, care and consideration surrounding these confusing matters. Thank you so much Dr. Strunk!

Kind, caring and very knowledgeable. I searched and searched for a vet for my rabbits and was glad to finally have found one that understands how to care for these delicate little creatures.

We have had our Guinea Pig Scoots for just over a year, and stumbled upon The Center for Bird & Exotic Animal Medicine completely by luck—it was indeed great luck! We could not be more pleased with the loving and comprehensive care that is consistently provided by the highly professional and incredibly kind team at the Center.
Over the past year, our guinea pig has visited the Center for routine visitations/check-ups, emergency services, boarding services, and surgical services. Within all these experiences, we have gotten the chance to know all of the different Doctors and Technicians who work there—I can honestly say they are all incredible. Dr. Maas and his team of professionals are the best kind of experts: accessible and compassionate. Almost every professional we have encountered can tell us stories of their own guinea pig or special creature. They treat our guinea pig with such love, comfort, and the best possible care-- they also know all the tricks to get him to cooperate – which is very impressive in itself! :)
One of my favorite things is to hear the Doctors and Technicians greet our guinea pig- it is so easy to see how warmly and genuinely happy they are to see him again! Especially as we get to hear these greetings coming from their procedure room (while we are waiting in the examination room). It absolutely warms my heart to know that Scoots has a little fan club, who also happen to know what is best for him!
Lastly, one of the things I most appreciate about the Center is the time they take to teach and explain important procedures to us. We always leave knowing how to be better caretakers, and feel like we have a solid understanding of what is going on with our little pig. The team absolutely understands the value in educating us as well as taking care of our guinea pig.
I feel so confident and happy with the high level of care our little Scoots receives there. We highly, highly recommend this office to anyone who wants authentic love, and top notch care for their important and adorable creatures.

Took my goat (with a hurt leg) and these guys were phenomenal in mending him back to perfect health. Can not get a better VET for your exotic pets. Truly, this place needs to expand and have a building built to care just for dogs (only). Then this campus would have full services for all. But right now, they are only set-up to care for EXOTIC animals but so glad that they are because this was the place to take my goat!

They told me my guinea pigs discharge was normal but it's been getting worser

I had this beautiful little ferret that became ill all of a sudden last week. I found a lump under her rib cage. I called several Vets.that afternoon and they all suggested I call The Center for Birds and Exotic animals (Cascade, Quil Ceda and VGA )just to name a few that had referred me. I spoke to Dr. Strunk not realizing that it was after hours when I called. After talking for 5-10 minutes to her I decided to take my little ferret to see her if the lump grew overnight. The Dr. told me if I changed my mind to call her and she would meet me at the office anytime. Later that night the lump seemed to shrink, it was almost gone. At around 9am the following morning the phone rang and surprisingly it was Dr. Strunk asking how my little ferret was..how really kind I thought that was. After a brief conversation I thanked her for the call and again she told me not to hesitate to call her if anything changed. To shorten this sad story , a day later the lump was back 3-4 times larger. Dr. Strunk did an ultra-sound on my little ferret , I was told about the large mass and everything that was connected to it.:ex: liver, intestines and a lot more. I am happy I chose The Center for Birds etc. for my little ferret that I love so much. I had to put her to sleep , I knew the changes in her behavior and how she was probably hurting . I am 55 years old and that was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dr. Strunk is kind and so is her staff. I was treated with respect and so was my little ferret . I can not thank everyone at the Center enough for taking care of us and helping me get through this . I appreciate everything more than you will ever know..Tammy
