The best place ever! I have a lot of dogs and it is hard to find a vet that really cares! I took my big guy to another vet who said he would need monthly allergy shots for the rest of his life. I thought that was silly so I went on the hunt for a new vet and believe me, I been to a-lot of places. Finally I found WLAH and let me just say they love your pet just as much as you do and my big guy didn’t need shots for life in fact all he needed was different food and he has been great. Ladies and gentlemen don’t just settle on any vet cause they are close by do your research and work with the BEST! If you see this review just know these guys will take so much care of you. Oh and they are affordable! Also! If you have a hedgehog they will see them here.

Our pup ate something he shouldn’t have, so we hurried to find a vet. West Lake was busy but there were able to get us in. We were impressed by the level of care our dog received from the doctors and staff. We’ve now gone back for neutering and vaccinations. We absolutely love the staff. They’re friendly and good at what they do. We’ll continue to visit and recommend the office to others.

Had an amazing experience at this veterinarian. My dog had a foot injury and I was so thankful they were able to fit me in same day. The appointment went fast and smoothly. Everyone there was very friendly and really showed they cared for my dog. Dr. Benson took time to explain everything to me and went over different options. Great vet! Took our dog in for her first deep teeth cleaning and they did awesome. Only gripe is they trimmed her nails for us (which was great!) but the quick was cut on several nails, causing some issues with bleeding and pain now.

I took my puppy in for damage she had to her ears, and her shots. The vet was very nice when explaining they would need to pull the large scabs off her ears to help them heal. I was provided with care instructions and shown how to put the ointment on her bundled up ears before I left. I was given clear information and allow my concerns were addressed. Empathy, and care was shown to me when I had to bring my sweet kitty to them to be put to sleep following a brief but progressive illness. They were so kind and spoke softly and calmly to me and allowed me to take my time saying goodbye to my fur-baby of 16 years. They walked me through the process of how it would happen and options for how I wanted her remains taken care of. I chose cremation and to get her remains back in a beautiful box that had her name carved on it and I also got a ceramic tile of her paw print that is just a beautiful treasure to have. Each staff member signed and wrote a message of condolences in a card and mailed it to me. It was a very sweet gesture that spoke to their concern and care about me as a pet parent. While this was my first time using them, I went to them because of the reputation they had and from the reviews from friends who have taken their pets there for care. Definitely a caring staff who will treat your pet like their own.

Wow, I cannot say enough about how incredibly grateful I am to the staff here! I have a 77.7 lb rescue who is fearful and difficult to manage when he is scared; making vet visits nearly impossible and a source of term oil for me. Jo the tech, went above and beyond to help me with him. Her confidence and calm during our “happy visits” was the catalyst that we needed to bring this beautiful dog back from his fear. The staff recommended “happy visits” to get him familiar before he had to have his vaccinations. Jo ensured my dog’s confidence during these visits. She was incredibly informative, patient and kind. West Lake has exceeded my expectations more than once, helping me through the process with the passing of another soul that had been with me for 15 years. I am very grateful to all of the staff here! They go above and beyond, and are always willing to help me in every way they can. Thank you!

The staff is amazing! The vets are very kind and caring, and they don't act like you're just another paycheck. You feel like you've got friends here. They texted and sent me pics of my dog after her surgery and told me she was doing just fine. I like that they kept me updated on her progress. The prices are definitely affordable too. Dr. Benson is so great. Very down to earth, and calming. My little dog has a lot of anxiety when it comes to new people especially men. I knew she would be nervous, but he just handled everything with such grace. The office staff are incredibly kind, same with the vet techs. I like how cats and dogs have a side of the building, that’s a unique feature I’ve never seen before. There exam fee is reasonable and competitive to other places I called. Unfortunately, we just had to put down my 17 year old cat. When we went back, they prepared us so well for what was going to happen and genuinely cared for what we were going through. And through all of the emotions that we were going through, my heart sank on the way home when I realized we forgot to get a paw print for her memory. Not even a week later they (the entire staff wrote on the note) sent us a beautiful note along with a paw print. It made the entire experience that much more meaningful since it was not anything we asked for, or expected. I cried with joy when I opened the note and read all of the comments and saw the inked paw print. We will always use Westlake for all of our many animals not for this experience alone, but for all of the other surgeries and appointments we had had with all of our other animals as well. They actually cured one of our dogs of cancer at the age of 6 months. They have the absolute best staff.

We've been taking our animals here for the last 6-7 years? They helped one of our dogs go through cancer and they were amazing at quickly diagnosing what it was. Prices are great, service is always amazing and I'm always in and out of there very quick. I couldn't recommend this vet enough.

West Lake has been wonderful for my dogs. Both have required dentals in the last two years and both times they came in on the low end of the estimate, sent home detailed reports and aftercare instructions, and my dogs recovered very well. My older boy had two lumpectomy procedures (one very complicated) and recovered well and with zero complications. Unfortunately I lost the oldest one very suddenly this fall to a likely stroke, and the vet hospital that I had to rush him to (it was very early in the morning) notified West Lake and they sent us a very sweet sympathy card and gave me condolences in person on our next visit for the surviving boy. Very sweet, and always wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend them.

They’re always welcoming and friendly. Our dog got a bad eye infection and we had to take her to a different vet because West Lake didn’t have openings. Two weeks later she still had the infection and developed ulcers. After one week from visiting Westlake her infection was gone but the ulcers remain. They were quick to refer us to an eye specialist. They seem to what you put and really care for your pet.

Amazing animal hospital. Took my dog in for the PennHip test. They got her in and out quick. Meaning my dog didn't have to sit in the vets office all day waiting for the procedure. They were very kind and even called to check on my dog the next day. While my dog was there they plucked her ears and clipped her nails, but didn't charge me for it. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I may start taking my dog there for her regular check ups.

A couple months ago we had to put our sweet doggie down and they were so kind and patient. We’d switched vets during Covid so it was the first time I met them in person and it was a positive experience despite our loss. We were so impressed with their professionalism and genuine care. We recently took our other 2 dogs in for a check up and shots and Dr. Benson was amazing. He was so gentle and observant. He took a lot of time to make sure all of my questions were answered and gave me great advice on how to help my dog with separation anxiety. The office staff were all super friendly and accommodating. They make you feel like family even though we are relatively new to their practice. Can’t go wrong here if you choose these guys. Our experiences have been stellar.

My husband and I adopted a puppy from a family that had begun puppy shots at West Lake Animal Hospital and we decided to finish off the shots there. We were impressed with how quickly we were in and out, the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming to us and our puppy. The vet was efficient and friendly, the vet techs were more than happy to keep our puppy happy with pets and praise while the vet gave the shots. I recently found this vet by accident, and I'm so glad I did! I've been to various vets with my dogs over the years, and this one by far has been the best experience for me. The staff is so friendly and attentive. Each time I call to make an appointment, I'm always surprised how quickly they can get us in (when in the past booking elsewhere it was always double the timeframe). No matter the reason my dog is seen by them, I ALWAYS receive a check-in call the next day from them to see how my pup is doing -- I thought that was above and beyond. The most recent visit was my dog getting spayed -- after her surgery they called me to let me know when to pick her up, and told me that the staff has been cuddling her and giving her lots of love, so she wasn't alone post-op. Bottom line - I absolutely recommend this vet! Love them.

Update 2/26/19: A friend from one of my dog groups messaged me after seeing Maya's eyes so I am changing my review from 1 star to 4 as a result of my total experiences (3) with Dr. Benson and his prompt reply to discuss this with me....her eyes are cleared up and she is doing great! Hi Brandi! I don’t know if this will be helpful, but here goes! I have no veterinary training, but I am a board-certified ophthalmologist, so I do have training in human eyes, which have many similarities with canine eyes. In humans, increased intrathoracic/intra abdominal pressure is many times the culprit, which can be seen with coughing, sneezing, forcefully clearing the throat, heavy lifting/pushing/pulling, and straining to have a bowel movement. Obviously, eye trauma can cause it, too. Sometimes during surgery, if I barely touch the conjunctiva, a hemorrhage will occur. I’ve seen trumpet players get them, too. Sometimes we can never identify the cause. If they were squeezing your dog’s chest or abdomen, that seems like it could cause it, but there are so many other possibilities, it would be hard to be certain. I wouldn’t be surprised if the stress of nail trimmings/ear cleanings could cause it, too! It should clear up without any permanent issues within a few weeks, or at least in humans it would! Because Maya is super sensitive to having her feet and ears touched I am pretty sure it was due to stress! She will need something natural to help her be calm before I attempt this again! However, I think if a dog is showing symptoms of extreme stress maybe a procedure should be ended. I also will not be doing 2 procedures on the same day! My mistake... Feb 18, 2019. I went for a simple nail trim and an ear cleaning and it ended up that my dog was improperly restrained and/or mishandled. Her left eye was filled with blood a couple hours later and her right eye was filled by the next morning! I went to have this checked out on Monday when they opened again and the vet that was subbing for Dr. Benson said she had no idea how this could have happened... despite the fact that I know Maya struggled hard!! After all they told me she released her anal glands during the procedure!!! I only wanted to make sure everything was alright with her eyes and trachea and discuss possible ways to make sure this never happened again, to my dog, or somebody else's! But they took zero responsibility and even became quite defensive when I suggested she wasn't taking responsibility!!! The vet said it was from popped blood vessels in her eyes but she had no idea how this could happen and has only seen it this bad from little dogs being choked while being groomed after jumping off the table with something around their neck! She also tried to suggest that maybe Maya had a blood disorder!!! At the very least they could have let me discuss this with the vet tech in attendance who did not let me come back during the procedure! She is the only one that really knows what happened...her and the other tech who helped restrain her!!! I have only seen Dr. Benson 2 times and believe if he had been their the outcome may have been different...I Seriously was just looking for a little compassion and honesty as well as assurance that her eyes would heal and her throat was not damaged!! I learned never to let somebody take my dog and perform even a simple tasks without me in attendance!

We recently brought our new kittens to West Lake Animal Hospital for vaccinations. The hospital was recommended by a friend. The staff genuinely cares about the animals. Everyone was friendly, caring, and complimentary to our Ragdoll kittens. There are two entrances; one for dog pet owners and the other for cat owners. I trust the doctors with our new pets and highly recommend this small but personable animal hospital.

Everyone was so on top of it here. I'm seriously blown away by how well they handled my cat's care. She's a persian and she had some matting. They needed to sedate her to groom her and they were so careful. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very clear about the pricing and process. Dahlia will always go here from now on!

UPDATE: I took my little one in again for teeth cleaning, and cyst removal. Again we were taken care of so amazingly well! Very Very reasonably priced, super friendly, genuinely caring staff! I've been recommending West Lake Animal Hospital to everyone I know! Truly the best animal care facility I've ever been to! Thank you so much everyone at West lake for all you do for Pixie and me!..... After finding out my fur baby (dog) had skin cancer and needed a mass removed, I was getting estimates for her surgery. West Lake Animal Hospital gave me a super reasonable estimate. I took her in, surgery performed, and final cost was at the low end of their quote. They were amazing with her, gave me great discharge instructions, and really cared about her as well as me! They called to follow up on her. I highly recommend them to everyone! I love, love, love this animal hospital. I first found Dr Benson 2 years ago when my elderly cat was near the end of his life at 17, almost 18 years of age. (My sister in law actually recommended it to me because she loves taking her cats here) He and his staff were very gentle with him and very understanding and caring of my emotions towards my cats situation. When my cat passed away they even sent me a card in the mail with their condolences. I thought that was very sweet. I have since adopted 2 new kitty brothers and had no hesitation about taking them to Westlake. The doctors and staff have been equally as genuine with these babies as they were with my previous baby. I love taking them there and will continue to do so and recommend them to all of my friends and family.

We take our newly adopted dog from the animal shelter there to be reviewed. She had a problem with an infected tooth. She also had kennel cough. They treated her kindly and professionally. The next day I was still worried about her tooth. I brought her to the clinic and the doctor came out to the car to evaluate her and didn't charge us for the second visit. They were very kind and helpful and reassured me that her mouth would be okay.

My first experience with West Lake Animal Hospital was on 02 August 2004 when I took MIN PINSCHER in for shots. Second experience was having MIN PINSCHER spayed on 09 September 2004. From then until June 2009, took MIN PINSCHER in for annual shots/check-up. On 25 June 2011, took JAVANESE (cat) in to be neutered and front claws removal, and have taken cat in for annual shots/check-up ever since. Over the past fourteen years, West Lake Animal Hospital [Dr. Roberts & Dr. Benson & Staff] have provided EXCELLENT care for both dog and cat. And last, but not least, the costs have been very reasonable! I would RECOMMEND West Lake Animal Hospital to pet owners. On 20 September 2022, took cat in for annual shots/check-up. I continue to RECOMMEND West Lake Animal Hospital to pet owners!

Where to even begin, the team here is absolutely incredible!... First, WLAH clinic saved me over $2,000 for the procedure that my cat was needing. Not only that, but they had originally provided an estimate minimum of $700 but once the bill came due it was even less than they had originally estimated. Secondly, every single person I talked to was friendly and very knowledgeable. On the few occasions that someone didn't know the answers to my question, they were willing to find it and follow up as soon as possible. They were clear and concise with instructions and keeping me informed on the progress of my cats procedure. I can't thank this team enough! Quality care! We have gone to a few vet offices but these guys take the cake. Super great quality care - it was our first time and we took our senior doggy. He had labs done, they checked his teeth, cut his nails did a whole physical. They are not price gaugers either which is great because we love our doggies as our own kids so this is good to know that they are affordable and they also take care credit. Coming to West Lake feels natural for me and my cat Bandit. I honestly don't give five star ratings but West Lake so far hasn't disappointed. I also understand the level of difficulty to diagnose a kitty with many routine tests and x-rays you need to run. So far with our routine check-ups and treating a bite wound, West Lake has been phenomenal. If you are an old customer with them, they really value your patronage. West Lake has also been stellar with its low prices, customer service and quality of care. They were already superb before they got popular! AND, they kept their prices low even after getting booked out for weeks. The clinic itself doesn't look eye-grabbing from the outside, but they operate like an actual compassionate animal hospital, not like a corporate office. They would never rush you(from what I experienced at VCA Taylorsville). They take the time and tell you everything you need to know. The vet here doesn't give the impression of the clock is ticking and got somewhere to go. Patience is their highest virtue that I admire in the staff here and the vets. They don't laugh at your anxiety as a pet parent but instead, will guide you through in what you need to know. West Lake has raised my standards for all vet hospitals in the valley.

My Chihuahua needed her teeth cleaned so I started calling around to the different veterinarian places. Wow, I was surprised at how much it was. After having called almost a dozen places, I found West Lake Animal Hospital. The people there were really super nice and they were quite a bit less compared to the other places so thought I'd give them a try. They called me, as I instructed them, about having to pull some teeth. I was a bit taken back that I was being charged by time and not tooth but once the procedure was complete, the vet called me and went over everything with me and answered all my questions. Dr. Benson is very gentle and so sweet with my dog. He's taken great care of her and takes time to listen to any concern I have with plenty of questions himself to make sure we cover everything before he gives me his suggestions and advice. He's very attentive and I can tell he cares about animals a great deal simply by seeing how great he's cared for my dog and how she responds to him you can tell he must know what he's doing. The staff are also very sweet and professional. They always have a smile on every time I walk in there (which isn't too often thankfully) with my pup and even show an excitement to see her. When I took my furbaby in to Dr. Benson to have her spayed the staff told me the first thing they noticed was how sensitive she is so they spent plenty time with her after surgery to keep her company until it was time for me to get her. I still use this vet today and am not afraid to call them or visit Dr. Benson with any questions or concerns I have. Highly Recommended.

West Lake is fantastic. Our wonderful cat is nearing the end of her life, and our previous vet had prescribed us medications to make her remaining time more comfortable. We needed to refill these meds, and after transferring our pet's file and despite only having one prior appointment with them, Dr Benson was able to refill our prescriptions the same day. Our previous visit to West Lake was also fantastic. They truly care about your pet, and they show that. They have an indicator in their lobby when someone is putting their pet to sleep, and unlike other vets I've been to, they show a lot of respect and compassion for people losing their longtime companions. At our previous vet, the vet tech and vet were joking in the hall right before giving us the news that our cat was at the end of her life. West Lake has been extremely caring. We will be lifelong clients.

I would highly recommend West Lake animal hospital. My dog Ty had a loose tooth which brought to my attention his need for a dental cleaning. I called alot of places. Noone could get me in. He had one tooth that was preventing him from closing his jaw completely. West lake scheduled me in right away, also they are much cheaper than anywhere else. I've transitioned all my fur babies to this clinic and I'm so glad I made the switch. (Backstory) I was going to Hunter Animal Clinic and after having one of my sweet cats die soon after I brought him to be cared for there overnight, unfortunately, I continued to go Hunter and gave them the benefit of the doubt. My treatment there, over time, became terrible. Not only to me, but to my pets. They showed complete disregard of my pets and/or any concerns I had. We have been going here over 10 years. The old vet was not very helpful, but once Dr. Benson came in, it was like night and day! We had taken our dog Nala in several times before because we were concerned. We went for an annual check up, not even knowing that Dr. Benson had replaced the old vet. Before even touching her, he asked if she had a thyroid issue. Turns out she does and has been on medicine for it ever since, which has helped her tremendously. He has performed surgery for some cysts on her gums and has seen her many times throughout the years as she’s gotten older and had more health issues. He has also removed a foxtail from our other dog’s ear and performed a surgery for a cyst, as well as neutered him My sister and brother’s pets also go here and I recommend them to everyone we know. My boyfriend’s pets were going to Hunter Animal Hospital but after seeing how that staff treated them, we got them switched over to West Lake and have never had any problems! The staff is always so friendly and nice, and they all are very informed. The vibe in the office is unlike any other. They are efficient, organized, and clean. Even when they have not been able to accomadate us when we have had an emergency, they have recommended us to several ER vets that could help. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other vet clinics. My favorite part is when they call us after an appointment to follow up on our pets and how they’re doing with meds or if they’ve shown any improvement. They put the pets above anything else. There is no better decision you could make for your pet than to take them to West Lake to be seen by Dr. Benson and his staff.

Have used a previous vet for 10 yrs. everyone butone retired. Now I can never get an appointment, which after three days trying the dog died. This was not good service and my daughter-in-LAW` recommended West Lake. I was able to get an appointment timely. My dog has a very likely cancer and Dr. Benson explained what the surgical option would entail which my previous vet neglected to mention, and this was very much a deciding factor to forgo surgery. Dr. Benson, Bonnie, and the entire staff are amazing. I saw Dr. Benson when my little 15 year old teacup poodle had age-related illnesses. Dr. Benson was very caring and understanding. He listened to my concerns and prescribed treatment for my poodle, but was also realistic and conservative. I felt like he wasn't taking advantage of the situation that I had an aging pet that I was attached to. ( I researched and mentioned several options, but he gently told me that my poodle was too old for any of them.) Sadly, I had to go back a few months to have my poodle put down. It was a heart-wrenching experience but I felt like we could not have been in better hands. Bonnie was so thoughtful and sympathetic. Over 3 months ago, we were told, by a different veterinary hospital, our dog was dying from kidney failure. They wanted a couple thousand dollars to keep her alive for a few weeks longer. I had her blood work sent to Dr. Benson for a second opinion. We worked out a second best solution to try to save her life, for less than 1/3 the cost. I have taken a dog and then a kitten to this vet office. The staff were quick and efficient. They were very kind to my two children and even described what they were doing in kid friendly terms which meant a lot to me. I really appreciated that the vet didn't push services on us that we didn't need. They were caring towards the animals and very informative. I had a lot of questions about the kitten since I hadn't had a kitten in a long time and the vet and tech both took the time to patiently answer mine and our kids (somewhat ridiculous) questions. The appearance was clean and didn't have that gross smell some vet offices have. I would recommend this vet and his staff to anyone.

Outstanding! Read this review. I try hard to not give up 5 star reviews but this place definitely earns it. If you are wondering if this is the place to bring your pet then go ahead and call them up now. But if you want to read about my how good my recent experience was then please read on. A while back a friend closed my dogs foot in the tailgate of my truck. She had a terrible very deep cut on her rear pad and was in a lot of pain. I hated the idea of having to see a vet. Here's what went down. First let's talk price. My wife and I were not prepared for a big vet bill but knew we had to take her in. I called these guys up to ask some questions and to my surprise they could lay out the cost for each procedure that might or might not happen. If she needs stitches it costs this much, if she needs to be sedated it'll cost that much, and so on. This really helped set my expectations on cost. It felt good knowing ahead of time what the best case and worst case expense could be. Even better was that I still thought the worst case price was totally reasonable. I was relieved. Now let's talk service They were happy to set up an appointment right away. When I got there I appreciated the cat entrance being separated from the dog entrance. They were super nice and greeted me and my dog. We got her weight and went to the examination room and within a minute or two the doctor was in. He didn't say much but was kind and I appreciated his quick no bull approach. I didn't get his name. Here is what I really liked. My dog did not need any sedation or stitches. Now honestly I thought she would definitely need stitches and I was clear about that. So they could have easily taken advantage of me and taken a lot more money for very little time and effort. Sedation and stitches would only take few moments, then on top of paying for that I would have bought a cone and any creams or anything they told me to. Instead he replied the cut was staying closed pretty well on its own and sent me out with some antibiotics. He gave me some instruction and tips on keeping it clean. And that was it. Then when it came time to pay they gave me a 10% discount for my first visit. The whole thing was few minutes and costs me only $52. That's for the visit and a heap of antibiotics all of it. Then a few days later I got a call. They just asked how my dog is doing. They didn't waste my day asking other questions or soliciting future visits. Just glad to hear my dog is doing well and hung up. Then a few days after that we got a hand written note in the mail thanking us for the visit. Ultimately the important thing is that it's all over and my happy dog is healthy. If got a banged up pup this is 100% the place to go.

I took my 6 month old chihuahua/rat terrier puppy to get spayed a few months ago. Being a first time pet owner, I reviewed tons of different places to make sure my cute little puppy got the best care possible. When I found West Lake, it was the nearest high rated place so I chose this one...and I'm glad I did. The staff was great, they walked me through all the different options, told me about pricing right off the bat, and called me to give me regular updates on how my puppy was doing. They even let me drop off a little plush dinosaur toy for my pet to lay down on that she used while she was in there. I've visited a few times and had petty good service art a decent price, however many last visit the vet barely looked at my dogs and really didn't answer any of my questions. I had gone in because my dog hurt her toe and birth dogs had skin issues that i wanted help with. No help and he missed my dogs ear infection and skin infection. A family friend, 3 years as a vet took one look and helped me out two days after my visit. I am so frustrated that i might never return.

I have a 13 month old, 3 pound, Toy Poodle and we were looking for a Animal Hospital that was use to smaller animals. We took her in to have a Spay and 15 baby teeth pulled that were still present. I love this vet, I've been going for three years, and last year my cat was diagnosed and treated for cancer. Any other vet would have told me he was a gonner being that he is a senior cat and had two spots, but just two months later my cat was back to his happy self. I've been going to Westlake now for about 5 years I think. Dr. Benson is always nice and tactful as well when I need to encourage more behaviors or do more for my pets (yes Eva, you are a chunky pupperoni.) But they have always been respectful and given great advice when I'm not sure what to do. I foster from time to time (kittens somehow happen to find us,) but when I call with questions, they are always patient and very friendly and give good advice. For example, recently I called a hospital closer to my house who was very rude when I asked questions about their services and recommendations (mostly to know if the most recent kitty needed emergency care, which Westlake doesn't offer.) When I called Westlake, they were kind, gave me ideas and had a good plan for how to handle things if there continued to be an issue. There is a reason this vet is basically 5 stars. The only bad reviews are for people who MISTOOK this place for an ER vet. They don't do that, but if they are open and have availability, they will go above and beyond for you... As they did for my only foster fail who could have died if they hadn't seen her. For those price sensitive they are also extremely affordable compared to other places. I couldn't recommend a better place. Given I live in Cottonwood Heights, my only feedback is that they should move closer to me... lol.

A few weeks ago my Maine Coon Cat got out of the house and was gone for 9 days. When he came home someone had hurt him badly, he had a broken foot, a blocked bladder and a dislocated tail. He was in dire need of help. I called numerous vets around the valley and from Ogden to Provo, not one vet would see Mallow without about a $1000 up front, I did not have that money and we had lost a Great dog the day before to kidney failure so I had to do something with the cat for my kids sakes. Every vet told me that if I dont have the money they will have to put him down. I finally called West Lake and Dr. Benson was awesome he took my cat in and drained his bladder and has agreed to work payment arrangements with me to pay the balance. Mallow is on the recovery end we are still assisting him with his bladder but he is doing so much better and his personality has started to come around. He is becoming more trusting after being hurt. I am so so grateful to his staff and to Dr. Benson for saving Mallows life and as soon as this is paid off I will be transfering care of my 2 dogs over to Dr. Benson as well. I am so impressed with a Vet that Actually cares for the animals!

We found one very sweet and honest lady of the whole group. The doctor is sweet and cares about the animals. I understand this is a business, but they make that very apparent. West Lake Animal Hospital treated our dog. Unfortunately, he had initially become ill after eating jerky treats some time before and eventually had to be put down although West Lake successfully treated him for the pneumonia he had when we brought him in. West Lake also neutered two of our cats and the surgery went off beautifully. They came home alert and full of life. We were very pleased.

We took our cat to another vet, who said she had ear mites, even though she had already been treated for ear mites. We weren't satisfied with this diagnosis, so looked around for another vet, and found West Lake. They didn't just assume that she was scratching her ear because of mites, but actually took samples, and checked microscopically, which found no mites. Our cat was put on a special diet for sensitive skin, which did the trick; she's not scratching her ear to pieces any more. We've taken other pets in as well, and always received the same knowledgeable, friendly treatment, but that first correct diagnosis did the trick for gaining our trust!

Dr. Benson and his staff are very good with our nervous dog and Dr. Benson takes the time to explain clearly his diagnosis and your options. Our dog tore her ACL over a year ago and our previous vet was pushing for us to have an extremely expensive procedure done called a TPLO. As our dog is over 10 years old, the surgery seemed risky and extreme. Dr. Benson explained ALL of our options and treatments and didn't try to persuade us in any particular direction. While this is an older building in Kearns, I also like that the prices aren't hiked to pay for a fancy facility. The only disadvantage is no evening or weekend hours. But it's worth making the time to go during the workday.
