I love this place. Brought my new kitten there for her first check up and they doted on her like their own. I rode my bike there with my kitten and they were super supportive of me training her to be an adventure cat (was half expecting to get chastised). They were very thorough and answered all my questions about training, diet, and schedule of vaccinations. They even speculated on her breed with me. Even though my kitten had to receive shots I think she liked Rose City Vet too! Definitely a great place for your pet with a caring and attentive staff. Would recommend.

We have been going to Rise City Veterinary Hospital for all of the pets in my family as long as my family has had pets. They've seen us through sickness and health and I currently drive almost 40 minutes to take my dog there because they're the only people I trust with his health. It's easy to schedule appointments, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the vets knowledgeable and compassionate. Jake loves to go to the vet because they've always made it an amazing experience for him. I could not recommend these people more highly.

Hands down the best Vet clinic I’ve ever worked with. They are so incredibly kind and caring, I have complete confidence when leaving either of my cats in their care. When one of my cats became ill they worked with me to manage to bring him in for last minute appointments and took such amazing care of him, while also keeping me informed every step of the way. I cannot recommend them enough; they treat my pets like family. 10/10

Our 11 year old, 5-lb Yorkie (Aivah) developed a small suspicious bump on her leg which other vets had historically ignored. We noticed it was bothering her pretty significantly and it turned out to be a mast cell tumor. Rose City took it seriously and got her in for surgery within a couple weeks. She is now recovering like a champ and they completed the procedure for quite a bit less than we were originally quoted, which was a pleasant surprise. We love Rose City!!

Everyone is so helpful and sweet, I have never had a vet or heard of a vet as good as rose city. I also feel very comfortable and safe as a queer trans person seeing other queer and trans people working there. They're also very affordable and helpful in disclosing how much things will cost etc, they have a great rewards program, and help you pick out insurance etc. It really is comprehensive stellar care you'll get for your animal.

When I moved to Portland in 2015 a neighbor recommended Rose City Vet Hospital. I’ve trusted them to provide care for all my kitties and highly recommend them. From their front desk office staff, to the technicians and doctors all have been kind, professional and friendly to me and my pets. A huge shoutout to Dr.Perchick and the staff at Rose City – you are wonderful and appreciated! We had moved back to Portland at the beginning of the pandemic and had a difficult time trying to find a trusted veterinarian who had the expert knowledge and time to provide care for my senior pup with multiple health concerns. After several failures to provide adequate care at other clinics, I got a recommendation to see Dr.Perchick. He was very knowledgeable about her myriad of health issues, listened to all of our concerns, gave hard advice very eloquently, and was great to work with. I've been to A LOT of different vet clinics and specialists over the years and he's been one of the best veterinarians I've worked with. After a cancerous mass was found in our kitty, Dr. Beswick immediately called in a referral to Pacific NW Pet ER in Vancouver (another highly recommended facility), and we were able to get in and get care quickly. I don’t think that could have happened without Dr. Beswick. He also sent us a sympathy card with a personal message about our pet after he passed a few months ago. It was so thoughtful! I received a lovely beautiful card in the mail after losing my male cat of 21 years, Cleo (last name: Arndt). I had to put him to sleep and it has been among the most gut wrenching moments of my life, and at the time I didn’t have many options bc it happened so suddenly due to a drastic health decline in just hours. A person by the name of Attison, or maybe Atticasan, shoot I don’t remember the exact name of the front desk employee answering that day, but he (not sure of his or her gender pronouns) was so gracious and loving when I explained what was going on as cleo had been seen months previously so they had his chart and every visit note in their system. Anyway due to the severity he gave me a number to compassionate mobile care (forgive me that day my memory is blurry because of the trauma of loss so that may not be the right name but something close to that at least) and I am forever grateful to him/her bc this third party company or organization came within A HALF HOUR to my home to put cleo out his suffering in the most gentle and caring manner via the type of euthanasia that not even humans can receive or hope for (another story or rant for another time). I am so beyond thankful for your staff member’s recommendation for immediate help. Please know to those reading — the staff truly cares and loves its clientele and I know that due to the relief cleo received that day despite my pain that has gone up and down since last week. And Then you guys sent me a sorry-for-your-loss card and I am beyond touched. The doctor vet did try checking in with me about an hour later after my frantic phone call but it was literally whilst the mobile veterinarian Callie with compassionate care was giving cleo his sedation shot so I could not answer, that is the only moment to chuckle - the odds of the call coming in at that exact time. Ha. Nevertheless you guys made sure I had a solution, then called and left a voicemail out of care and additional advice if needed, and sent me a card even though I never provided the final answer — that being he, my beloved Cleo, my king of the castle, was finally left to sleep in peace to dream of chicken and tuna-made butterflies in a lush field for the rest of time. Your clinic is full of compassionate vets, techs and front desk assistants who help no matter what and I want that to be known and also want to say thank you for everything — thank you truly. You have no idea how grateful I am for the person I spoke to that tragic day who provided me with that resource. Tears float down as I end this novel of a review. Love, love, love Dr. Perchick and the RCVH staff. They give our pups, kitty, and us so much love. We absolutely trust our little ones there, know they are in great hands and happily drive from St Johns to receive their treatment. In the midst of COVID-19 I started my new pup with Dr Joe Beswick. Due to the mask restrictions I had to hand my pup over for her very first appointment without being able to go inside the building with her. I was uncomfortable before I went but they came out to meet me in the parking lot and made me feel very comfortable regarding her care and then prior to any medication the Dr called me and discussed my puppy's current health status at length. I felt that she was in excellent hands and that every possible question I could have had was answered in easily understandable terms and professionally. Everyone I met or spoke with was caring and very friendly. 100% Positive Experience and the bill seemed completely reasonable too! Highly recommend Rose City Veterinary Hospital. Update: *They also recommended pet insurance "before" she had her first examination due to her breed I can't begin to thank them for the money this has saved me in caring for my flat faced dog with all of her allergies and breathing issues.

Rose city vets and Dr. B are amazing. We are so grateful for their care. Our cat experienced a urethral plug and required an ED visit. They got us in afterward on short notice and fixed him up and he was back to his normal self 3 days later. This vet has some of the nicest staff I've ever met, the lobby was super nice and clean and they have products that I would actually buy! Also I loved all funky seating choices. We have had to say good-bye to our beloved dog and cat, and the staff and the Doctors here are very understanding and very helpful and compassionate when the time did come. We have begun our lives with our new puppy and have taken her their for Basic Puppy Lessons and have requested guidance on obedience training and other issues that as pet lovers and owners we all need at times. The staff at Rose City Veterinary Hospital are top notch. From the vet techs to the veterinarians everyone has such a positive upbeat attitude. I have been bringing our dog and cat here for the last two years and every time the staff have been so friendly and welcoming. I have never once been up sold on some expensive procedure and made afraid that by not spending thousands of dollars on my pet I'm a worse pet owner. In fact there have been many times I've come here and gotten services free of charge or at a drastically reduced rate because there was some spare fluids for my cat or an antibiotic for the dog that would had been opened but not used and would have been discarded otherwise. I wholly recommend Rose City Vet Hospital to anyone who cares for their pets like they were family. You wont be disappointed with your experience.

Dr. Berger and staff take great care of our family. Our animals never fear the vet since they are always given lots of attention and treats. Rose City Vet uses numerous "calming" techniques for the animals and it is another way they show how much they care. I am happy to be able to go in to the clinic again. Asking clients to wear masks indoors is very comforting and I felt very safe due to this requirement.

I was so lucky to find this clinic and now I can agree with all the other great reviews by leaving my own. It was so hard finding a vet to update my puppy's vaccines during covid but I got in pretty quick as a new patient here. From the minute I called in, I made my appointment with Doug and he is just the best ray of sunshine. He was so nice and welcoming from the get-go! I scored an appt with Dr. Berger and I can't articulate how awesome she is. She took the time to go over things with my pup and any concerns I had. She was so easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with how she does things and confident in every bit of our conversation. She made sure I felt heard and that my pup's health was our top priority. Even though I have a primary vet for my pup, I only want him to be seen here- all the staff members are so nice and very professional. With the whole parking lot appts, it can be a bit stressful for all involved but I didn't get any of that here. This team is only made of rockstars and I thank all of you!

I'm really glad my friend recommended this veterinarian when I said I was looking for a vet for my dog in Portland. My dog can be very nervous at the vet. They used good behavioral techniques (tossing treats, not making eye contact, getting to his level but not up in his space), that allowed my dog to slowly get more comfortable going there. They didn't push him past his comfort level, and I was able to take him back for shots just a week later. He got two shots without trouble - of course bribery with treats was involved, but they did a great job. This was huge progress, and I appreciated their patience and approach. So far in my experience the staff here has really good energy (especially for working with a small, kinda nervous dog), is patient, communicative, and uses positive behavioral approaches so the vet isn't as scary of a place for my dog now. I'm really glad this will be my new veterinarian for my dog.

When we moved to Portland, we were in search of a vet. Soon after the move and before we had settled on a vet, our pet got an infection. The vet right around the corner couldn't see our dog for quite awhile and he had a visible ouchie on his leg that needed quicker attention. Rose City Vet got us in and has been great for the past 3 years. It was nice to have a little children's section to keep kids occupied while we waited and the drinks and fresh cookies were always great! Now that we are in a pandemic, we have to wait in the parking lot, but the animal care is still top notch!

I have been to vets across the country with my two pooches and I've never found one I liked as much as this place. I've seen different vets and, honestly, they've all been great. The staff here really loves animals and you can tell that in the way they treat them and interact with them. They always aim to make vet visits a pleasant experience for my boys and they succeed. The staff from the front desk to technicians to the vets themselves are all incredibly kind and caring. it’s apparent from entering the office that everyone there loves their jobs and just want to take care of animals in the best way possible. My pooch and I saw Dr. Martin for our appointment and he was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to listen to everything I was concerned about and helped form the best plan for me. He didn’t just hand me a list with medicine but rather broke down how the plan worked and what each medicine was used for. I've been seeing Rose City Vet for about two years now for two cats and always have a good experience. It's pretty easy to schedule urgent appointments, and I've seen multiple vets and they've all been kind, knowledgeable and good communicators. They've done major work and minor work, and were good about keeping in touch during difficult and ongoing health issues. They've just begun handing out relaxation pheromone bandannas and blankets for dogs and cats to reduce pet stress at the clinic, which is pretty cool. Plus, owners can gorge on free, fresh chocolate chip cookies during stressful moments.

Highly recommended. I've been coming with my two cats for about a decade. They saved my cat's life after a bad reaction to a medication that another vet had given him that he didn't need. These guys have great hours and I always felt like they've taken the best courses of action every time one of my animals had a problem. Update: ten years after my initial review they saved my dog too. They’ve now saved both my cat and my dog in terrifying emergencies. I showed up in tears unannounced with my dog when they clearly had a full schedule. They rushed her to the back, pumped her full of fluids, made her better, and followed up the next day. I really can’t say enough good things about this place.

I just got my dog set up as a patient here. Our first visit was great. Not rushed and did not try to push anything on me. Was honest and straight forward about the health of my 5 year old dog and what to expect for animals since we are new to the area. Later I had an incident where I needed to call and explain what happened and if I should bring him in. They were kind and patient over the phone and even though we didn't need to come in, they never treated me like a crazy person calling about their dog. Then my dog hurt his leg and needed some eye drops. The Vet who saw him called 3 days later to see how my dog was doing and asked if I had any questions. There was mixup with the texting upon arrival. I was there at 0645 for his 0700 appt. It was still dark and I didn’t see the correct phone number to call. Instead I texted to the number in the dog food number and waited until 0720 when you called thinking I was a no-show for the appt. You seemed slightly irritated & almost made me reschedule but Dr. Berger agreed to see my dog. I know this likely out her behind but I had a lot of questions. I felt rushed. I had several questions since my dog hadn’t been there for over a year and had had surgery from another vet. There were other concerns as well but I stopped asking questions because I got flustered due to the pressure. I realize it’s an adjustment for everyone - employees and customers - but this situation was no ones fault but it felt like the assumption was that it was my fault. It kind of upset my whole day and left an uncomfortable feeling about the whole experience. Thus the 8 rating. It would have been a 10 based on previous visits in the distant past. I suggest that the correct phone number for check-in be much more prominent than the dog food number which is quite prominent and easily mistaken especially for very early appts when it is still dark. I’m hoping this was just an unfortunate mixup and that any future appts are more satisfactory & supportive. Thank you fir the opportunity to express my still bothersome feelings about my personal feelings and experience.

Dr. Beswick was GREAT with Cheddar - all the vet techs have been so giving and understanding to my dog's needs - i.e. if she doesn't take a certain treat, they find what she is motivated by to make her comfortable. Dr. Beswick helped me understand more about my dog when I was concerned she had a UTI/bladder infection. That full informational approach was what I needed as a first-time dog owner. Came here under the worst circumstances. Putting our baby girl, 13 yr old Rottweiler down. The staff was kind, as in the vet techs who came in to prep her and greet us. The vet though was a little upsetting as we sat there with our dog passed she told my husband and I (we were both crying badly) that we are not only ones who have gone through this...kept telling us to take our time, but didn't leave and we felt uncomfortable after that.
