One of the few vet locations where I can walk through the front door. However, covid risk is so low now (and we all wore masks), I was hoping it's time to bring the vets back. This phone call thing everyone does is a bit impersonal. Staff were nice. And thank you for keeping your prices reasonable. My kitty and I are grateful. The pet mourning candle by the front desk made me teary. I lost a cat a year ago and appreciate how kind vet staff try to be when we are grieving. It's a gift you give to humanity, to help someone grieve as well as care for their pet. The pet name board is also kind and thoughtful. I have a rescue cat who gets stressed when we go to the vet. Thanks for making it a positive experience.

They were my Great Pyrenees Noble’s Veterinarian for the last 8 years, and today was the final appointment. Compassionate care, staff who loved him because he was the kindest and easiest big boy, has 100% of my experience there. And compassion and kindness to ME. Especially today, that mattered.

I wish I had more stars to give. The staff was incredibly sympathetic with the quality of life decision I had to make to put my senior cat to sleep. After I dropped him off for examination I received a call within 10 minutes that his condition was dire and I was able to drive straight back and be with him in his final moments. The staff did everything they could to comfort him in the short time I was away and he was attended and offered food and water in a private exam room. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured to make any sort of decision and in my experience it was a more affordable individual cremation service. The card that came with his ashes had my cat's paw print and was signed by the staff with personal messages included that were just beyond what I could have expected from a veterinary office.

Teghan, the vet tech was very knowledgeable and helpful. So was the vet, Dr. Líschke. They took the time to carefully explain everything to me. Got my dog caught up on all vaccines and talked through my concerns and all treatment options. Great experience. My last vet was unable to do anything with my dog because he was ‘too aggressive’ but we had no problems at Banfield and everything went smoothly. Thank you!

This place SAVED MY DOG'S LIFE! My dog was on the verge of passing. She had a pyometra. What that baiscally means is that, at least how i understood it, was that her ovaries were filling with liquid due to an infection. She needed an emergency spay. Most places would not do it due to A. her age (she is 15 almost 16 now, she is also a Pom-Chi and from what I've read they can live from 15 to 20.) and B. her Heart Murmur. The other option was to say goodbye. I did not want that. Luckily this place, Dr. Joshnson and her team decided to take that risk where others would not. And now.... My little Rose is alive. And although I'm still not out of the woods yet as they did make clear that other complications could happen for her recovery. I still could not be more thankful..... And I could never even begin repay them for the work that they have done.... Because of this place my dog is alive.... A bit uncomfortable but returning to her normal self... If you want a place that will put saving the animal's life above all else. This is that place. Thank you banfield! Thank you Dr. Johnson and her team! And thank you Nevan Richard!

Today we had to put our pug of 16 years to sleep. My husband was the stoic one, I was the mess flipping from bawling to belligerent . I do not handle stress well at all. These people didn't ask me to leave and let me grieve in my own way. And when I asked if this candle was lit, I didn't think the Doctor heard me, but she did and she was wonderful. Let me hold our dog while they gave her all three shots and she died in my arms. Thanks to the young vet . I am sorry I didn't say thank-you for your extraordinary calmness, nor your kindness. You made this day a little easier when you took the time to tell me what I thought was wrong was real. And also, thanks for letting my 2 Yorikis be there also. Girl you are one class act. Always super amazing! My cat went in for a teeth cleaning and it was revealed he had some painful resorption in a few of his teeth. They called me and told me everything, what they could do, how much it would cost, and allowed me to make the decision for them to have the teeth extracted. They gave me multiple updates through the day and answered all my questions, and as always treated my cat so well. They even allowed me to keep the teeth and gave me plenty of pain medicine for him so he didnt have to hurt while at home. Everyone was wonderful and i know he got the best possible care. I always feel safe leaving him with banfield. He came home a little dizzy from his surgery but no worse for wear, and he's already feeling good enough to drink and eat a little wet food. Thank you so much for all your attention and care, the whole team really goes above and beyond every time. And thank you so much to the person who drew the whiskers and ears around his name on his take home bag. I noticed, and it's just so cute and a wonderful gesture!

Super helpful and friendly staff, I took a kitten I'm adopting here and they were super helpful. I had went to Vetco right before coming here and was extremely discouraged because I was charged $70 at vetco just for a quote not even a exam or anything and on top of that they quoted me over $800 for my kitten to get his shots and neutered. I called Banfield right after I left Vetco and they were able to see us same day. They did a free exam on him along with some blood work and helped me set up a payment plan for his shots and neatuer and even gave him some of his shots today while setting up our next appointments. My cat didn’t seem uncomfortable around the staff at all like he did with the Vetco staff. Def recommend this place over Vetco for low cost vet care.

We've been doing business with Banfield for the last 15 years over a couple of a facilities. Generally, a knowledgeable staff, and all you would expect from a veterinarian service. However, I would caution you if you order syringes for your pet. Be sure you check the box before you leave. We were given the wrong size syringes and almost killed our cat from a Vetsulin overdose.

I've had really good experiences at this location. I know some people talk smack about this company but I have been very pleased with the service here. All the Vets and Tech's I've encountered have given me wonderful service and are very loving and caring towards my dog. The insurance type program they offer has worked out really well for me and allowed me to take excellent care of my dog without being so concerned about getting hit with a huge bill. I also appreciate dealing with a vet that approaches things logically (but caring) without going overboard. Will continue bringing my girl here.

I am writing this review mainly to thank Owen who I spoke to on the phone today while I was having a medical emergency with my pup. Unfortunately Banfield was unable to see us today however they were the ONLY veterinary hospital that took a moment to help me breathe and spoke to me with genuine kindness. I had spent most of my day calling all of the vets I could in the Portland/Vancouver area desperate to get my pup in somewhere. I called a total of 15 vets and all I received was a bland "I'm sorry there is nothing we could do". By the time I called Banfield I was sobbing and at my wits end. Owen took the time to listen to me and had me describe my pup's symptoms to him so that he could at least ask one of the vets if there was anything I could do in the meantime to help him be more comfortable. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Owen. Thank you thank you thank you. As someone who lives on her own with no partner and no family living remotely nearby it meant a lot that you took the time to help the best you could. After speaking to you I took a breath, soldiered on, and eventually found a clinic that could take us. My pup is enjoying his bland diet of rice and chicken and is resting comfortably tonight. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

I regret leaving Banfield after a year of them caring for my precious Chewy Dog. The monthly fee was very reasonable for my tight budget because it reflected lower costs on regular and unexpected treatments. In the beginning, I first came to Banfield in an emergency, while traveling with little money. Chewy was thankfully treated promptly. Each visit after, Chewy enjoyed going to and being at this office in Oregon. I was comforted that Banfield had many facilities in Washington and Oregon just in case we were in need of care. I'm not sure, cutting the monthly membership is the wisest decision yet, due to me having to cut financial corners to fight my cancer. I can always return later knowing thier best interests and confident skills still would be all about da Chewy dogs health and well being. Chewy and I both recommend this Banfield office and especially thier Dr's and staff.

The Banfield I normally go to didn't have the renal support food for my cat. This one did and they were very nice and patient as I figured out how many cans I'd need to hold over till my delayed shipment arrived. Thank you very much. I wish I got your name to thank you by name.

Love the care team here but with one huge downside, their COVID protocols. They refuse to allow owners to come to the appointment and require you to drop off and pick up. It started as a covid protocol but has now evolved into a terrible solution to customer service. You wait at least 10-15 minutes in your car because they won’t let you in. Seems like they’re taking an avenue that is only convenient for them and not for their customers. I’m all for masks and vaccinations but they’re just being lazy

I love the wellness plans they offer because I know that any time I have a concern, they will be there to help. This location in particular is always speedy, clean, and has super friendly and helpful staff. Also very convenient location! I love Banfield!!

Attentive, flexible and caring staff. We have a 5yr old rescue shepherd who is very fearful of needles. The first time I took him they were only able to do a physical exam as they didn't want to make it a traumatic experience for him. They sent us home with some medication to help relieve his anxiety. It helped, but he still was very reactive when we went in again. The staff were really patient and worked with us to be able to figure out what worked for him. We ended up using a cone and distracting him with peanut butter. We really appreciated how they tried to be gentle and were very intentional about finding the right medium for him without pushing him too hard and tinting relationships. He was able to get all his shots, dental, nails, and physical. Staff were also very responsive on the phone and answered all our questions. Working with Banfield staff helped us feel safe and secure in our vet experiences - or any emergencies that could arise - in the coming years.

I hope your pet gets treated right because the last time I went with an appointment I was told my appointment was earlier. My dog received care here for the last 11.5 years and the staff was really nice but this last year was not the best . A lot of miscommunication at the expense of my dog’s health :(

I just don't trust these people. I took my cat in to get vaccines and the tech balked when I told her we feed him raw food. When I tried to hand her a tube of Churu treat to help with his exam because he gets freaked out at the vet, she said, "Is it raw??" and when I told her it wasn't she still turned it down because they "wouldn't be needing it." I talked with someone at the front desk about the Churu because it's a widely used treat for helping cats take medicine, but they had never heard of it. I took him in again for a teeth cleaning today. They had me check him in a 7:45am and it's now 2:30pm and he still hasn't gotten his teeth cleaned. Apparently they do bloodwork in the morning and then just have them sit around all day while the vet does other procedures like neutering. It seems like they do things according to their own convenience rather than what's best for the animal. Oh, and they offered a nail trim service - $17 to cut my cat's nails while he's unconscious...

It is increasingly difficult to get appointments.The vets have less time to actually discuss your pet's care and health. I have been a health plan member for 15 years but I am not so sure I will continue to be so

We love Dr Gorman and the entire staff.This is The place to Go! I've been through 3 vets and they keep each other informed. She's had two surgeries that were stressful for me but we're excellent. You'll be well taken care of -and your fur babies.

They know me and my dogs by name when we walk in the door. The doctors are thorough in their exams as well. I will be staying with them for my dogs until I die.

The staff here are excellent in my experience. .competent and caring. The long time manager certainly gets credit for keeping that standard high. The vets change frequently but I have always felt my pets were well cared for in all cases..100% satisfaction in 95% of those experiences. They have a full schedule these days, a bit of growing pains but I understand that there are plans to open another clinic soon to alleviate that crunch. It is needed. They still do all they can to accommodate that being said.

The staff at this Banfield Pet Hospital location are busy, busy, busy! This location is open seven days a week for twelve hours a day and they certainly have the traffic to keep everyone on their roster gainfully employed during operating hours. Our pup, Bella, was referred here (due to a lack of available appointments at our regular location in Vancouver, WA) to be treated for an issue that developed rapidly enough to rate taking her in as soon as possible. She was placed on this location's schedule for the next morning when I called. The staff ensured she was promptly received, diagnosed, treated and released (with great post-visit care instructions) after her and I walked through their front door. The staff was exceptionally kind and courteous to the both of us. Bella appears to be experiencing relief from her symptoms that prompted the appointment initially so, to my untrained eye, they must have done a wonderful job of caring for her medically as well! I wholeheartedly support this business. Thank you for taking such excellent care of our Bear, Banfield Pet Hospital. We'll be back again.

Whether the news is good or bad, a procedure simple or tricky, I always feel like they truly care about my 'fur kids' and do the best they can. I have visited this branch for 3 years and have worked with some truly great people. Dr. Ellis is whom we currently see and she is patient and kind. Knows my pet and my situation and works with me to make his care affordable. My dog has many medical needs and we see the vet often. We have the most comprehensive wellness plan and every year it pays for itself. You have to be a smart consumer though. Don't accept every recommended treatment without questioning if there aren't less expensive options. When Dr Ellis wasn't available I worked with some of the other vets and was disappointed in the service. I found some to be rude and dismissive, but my pet and I have always enjoyed getting to know Dr Ellis. In fact my dog likes coming here so much so that he begs to come in even if we're just picking up food or medicine.

My two puppies have a lovely vet there. Everybody there is upbeat and friendly and willing to answer all of your questions. Today, they didnt have any open time for an appointment but i was still able to drop him off to be seen. They squeezed him between all of their other appointments. There isn't much parking but I've always gotten a spot. All in all, a great place to go.

I have taken my pet here for the last ten years, and all of the staff including veterinarians, vet techs, and front desk staff are some of the most knowledgeable, kind, compassionate people on the planet. No matter what the reason for bringing your pet in, they are always prompt and attentive and caring, and show a true passion for helping you and your pet be well. At this location, Rachel has been a particular angel, always coming over to sit and talk with us while waiting, and offering jokes and good company while we wait for our cat to be taken care of. It's becoming frustrating being a Banfield Wellness member and paying the monthly fee for three pets (over $70/month) just to be told on numerous occasions that there are no available appointments until the following week. I am not against going to a different location but it's inconsistent for my dog who benefits from any type of consistency since she is highly anxious and nervous. Furthermore, when locations are all booked out and cannot accept any walk-in appointments (we are talking locations as far west as Hillsboro and as far east as Gresham including all locations in-between), it forces us to have to go to vets outside of the Banfield network which is costly, considering the benefit of the wellness plan is reduced cost of services and prescriptions. Today even, I tried to schedule an appointment within two days for a semi-urgent medical need for one of my dogs. I was placed on immediate hold, which I never mind, but when the front desk personnel came back on, she rushed me off the phone as soon as she found out I was trying to schedule a same day or next day appointment. She just kept saying there weren't any times available, didn't bother to look up my account, or point me in the direction of another location that might have availability. As she went to hang up on me, I had to tell her to not hang up and that I still needed to schedule an appointment for the following week in which she put me back on hold immediately where I waited long enough to become so frustrated that I called another location (Johnson Creek) to which my experience improved immediately. The gentleman that took my call, scheduled me a next day appointment, carefully listened to the details of why my pet needed to be seen, and transferred my file, without rushing me and in less than 5 minutes. So this review is with much confliction as on one hand, the services are decently priced under the wellness plan, they have a large enough network that you can (sometimes) float around to other locations for more urgent needs (or if you yourself move) and the staff is generally kind and helpful. But on the other hand, you get an experience like today where you are rushed off the phone without any help and just simply told "No, we can't," to any of your requests for help. I would really like for my dog to have a consistent location she is seen at so instead of this location (NE Portland off of 82nd), I will see how my animals do at the Johnson Creek Banfield.

Been taking our pets here for 30 + years. I do like the staff here, they genuinely care for our pets. We do seem to get a different veterinarian each visit though. Now that they are a big corporate company I would not reccomend them for anything but minor stuff and shots. Appointments are expensive and sometimes they just can not give the proper time and care the pets need so they reccomend you see a specialist.

Staff is great. Doctors are caring and love animals. Doctor calls back personally to check on pet. I never feel rushed by Doctor or Nurse to get on to next patient and my questions are listened to and answered. Busy place so some wait time, maybe 10 minutes for appointment. Has parking lot.

I previously had a vet who was absolutely dreadful. She was so rude and had no empathy whats so ever. So when I took my poor kitten in because of his litter avoidance and strange behavior, she told me he had a kidney infection. The presentation of this news seemed to me that her intentions were to get some reaction out of me (in a negative way). Needless to say, it was not a great experience. Not only did she give him the wrong medication, it was apparently wildly over priced. A couple weeks go by and I found blood in his pee. So I rush him to Banefield on 82nd and Jessy, the woman at the front desk, was absolutely wonderful. She was pleasant and sweet and extremely helpful. The vet and nurse were amazing to my kitten and did everything it took to find out what was wrong with him. They were even concerned with my budget and did everything they could to stay within it. They even went above and beyond. In the end, my cat ended up having a sever case of a UTI the whole time and was diagnosed incorrectly the first time. As awful as it was to have my kitten in a bad situation, they made things as convenient and easy as possible and I can't explain how grateful I am to the people who work there.

I have been taking all three of my dogs and my cat to Banfield since they were pups. (One is 11, one is 3, is 10 weeks and the cat is 15). I have always gone there, and always recommended them to other people. At the 82nd location there is a very RUDE receptionist. She has been there as long as I can remember. She has short dark hair, and olive skin. There has never been a time she was not rude to me and or my family. I don't know why anyone would want her sour attitude at the front lines of their business! Recently I called to inquire about getting my 3 year old spayed... Much to my dismay, the RUDE receptionist on the phone informed me that I was looking at about $500 to have spayed. This price is the "discounted" price from her Wellness Plan. I couldn't beleive it! Everyone is all "Pro-spay and neuter" obviously Banfield isn't. Nobody is going to pay that much to have their pet spayed!!!! ** I will be taking my girl to another vet to be spayed. Only costing me $160, that includes EVERYTHING** I just got off the phone with the SAME rude receptionist that seems to always catch my calls. I wanted to hang up and try again for another, maybe friendly, voice! Other than the RUDE receptionist, and the high cost for care that is not included in the Wellness plan, I love the Doctor's, Vet Techs, and services!

The vet we saw was so great with my ancient 20 year old Kitty, understood that I wanted him to be comfortable but couldn't afford to spend thousands of dollars for him to be that way. He gave my kitty a prescription that helped him feel a lot better without making me feel guilty.

I hate to reveal a guarded secret, but Dr. Nickel and Dr. Schein are the best. Hard to find a professional that LISTENS and has a conversation about concerns and options in a way that doesn't sell you on any particular treatment or program. I like it when I hear "...I don't think you need that yet. Try this first, it's what I'd do for my dog." Re/wellness plans: I have had wellness plans, and if you make sure you use it (especially for an older pet), it pays for itself in peace of mind and dollars. Just make sure that you understand that it's not an insurance policy, and that you're in it for a year. Upside: all office visits you need are included, dental cleaning, some blood work & more, but if you sign on and 2 weeks later get a $180 dental cleaning, then quit the plan, you understandably are going to get dinged for the difference.

It's probably alright for vaccines and check-ups, anything else I'd find a specialist. This is based off an experience from 2013 and a lot could have changed since then. Just make sure that you get a second opinion before making a life changing decision for your pet.

Dr Thomas Mackowiak is an excellent surgeon. When at the Sandy river on Saturday afternoon, some careless person threw a big river rock for the dogs to fetch and my dog tried to catch it which shattered his front canine. It was a really scary situation and we drove in from the Sandy River and found the Banfield Pet Hospital conveniently located right off I-84 and NE 82nd. Dr Mackowiak explained the risks but also let me know that he felt very confident that he could do this very difficult surgery for us. My neighborhood vet does not provide emergency services and there was no one to discuss it with, so I had to make a judgement call and I felt I could trust him. The next day, he skillfully removed my dog's shattered canine tooth most of which was below the jawline in a four hour surgery which ran the risk of breaking his jaw however, with his soft but precise touch, Dr Mackowiak saved my dog's jaw. And the cost was completely reasonable. I would highly recommend Dr. Mackowiak and his team at Banfield Pet Hospital. And please, dogs cannot catch rocks!
