A little over a year ago, I adopted a kitten, Puzzle, from PAC. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We had some really bad experience with some other shelters before coming here, so it was encouraging to find a shelter that actually wants animals to find good homes and works hard to ensure they do. Puzzle did come home with ear mites, which are fairly common in shelters. This was a quick an easy fix, especially when you consider that I've had family members adopt from other shelters, where the cats have had multiple parasites and diseases upon adoption. A year later and Puzzle is happy and healthy. I'm so glad that God brought PAC into my life and I would definitely recommend them!

Providence was very responsive, when I called to inquire about available cats, giving me details on the animals. They were helpful and friendly in the shelter, The animals were all well cared for. I received a note and bag of supplies from the kittens’ foster mom, many helpful resources for vets in the area, a very reasonable cost for adoption, and helpful follow up. I highly recommend!

We adopted Russell on April 1st and he fit right in with our family. We changed his name to Kai (my son’s pick) it means rejoice which I like. Kai loves to go for walks and cuddle. Love Providence SPCA...I added a new family member during their Clear the Shelters event last week...Meet Bosley...He is an adorable kitten that we adopted...I was first in line because I fell in love with his little face on the website and knew I wanted him. I resqued the most beautiful and sweetest Siamese girl in the world at Providence Animal Center. They keep their cat kennels very clean and free of fleas. The cats seemed happy for the most part. I recently adopted my cat Hans from this shelter and it was the best adoption experience i have ever had. All of their animals are so clean and well kept. My kitty was vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and even had a dental exam/ extraction before i took him home. The young lady who helped me with my adoption process was very pleasant and knowledgeable. They have great resources for their pet owners as well. Highly recommend.

We absolutely love our tripod we adopted from Providence animal center. his name is Binx and he is spoiled rotten. For 30 years we have been dog owners we lost my mom's dog, he was 17 years devoted to my mom and we lost our beloved Yorkie she was 15 with cancer. Our hearts and home was empty. We looked at all shelters each time we applied we were turned down because we didn't have 3 years consecutive vet records. When I explained we took care of my mom in my home and we went to free clinic care. They still turned me down. A month after loosing the dogs I lost my mom, with her battle with Parkinson's and lewybody demitia. My pastor CG Coated told me to check out animal providence center. When I saw Binx photo I applied to adopt him. In November they amputated his leg and he looked pitiful in the picture like he needed a lot of loving it was sometime in December during the Christmas holiday I had to wait until New Year's Day or after New Year's day that they opened up I called right away in hopes to get an answer they said they were just fixing to call me to do a meet and greet I wasn't going to get my hopes up but my heart was set on him as we met with him in a room they talked about how he would nip if you reached into his bed or for his food I wasn't scared of that. I'm sure that the little fella has been through quite a bit and just needed some love and affection. It's been 8 months since he's been in our family and we totally are over the moon with him he controls us and are bed...lol He went for several weeks into the crate willingly put a blanket over the crate and told him night night went upstairs and he was fine. one evening we put him in the crate for bedtime we got upstairs and he whimpered and cried because he was downstairs and we went up. So who has who trained??? he now sleeps with us nightly and loves to cuddle. He enjoys his walks and he's even faster than us with his three little legs he loves treats and pigging out. Find your furry little friend at Providence animal center in Media. You won't regret it.

My fiancée and I have been talking about getting a dog for years, and Providence Animal Center made that process the best it could be for us! The kennel staff was more than willing to help us meet our new family member, Moe. After our meeting, the front desk staff was extremely kind and helpful with our paperwork process. One of the best rescues, not just in the area but all around. All of our animals are from providence! (6!!) we have had many relations with providence, from working there as a young adult - to being foster as for kittens, puppies, dogs of all kind, to an adopter all experiences were spectacular. We got my dog from my fiancés friend from work, she had a tummy ache recently and we had to take her to the vet. We lost her medical records and I contacted this shelter where we found out she came from to retrieve her medical records, I honestly for some reason didn’t think They would be able to find them as we didn’t have much information on her prior To us adopting her, they worked with me and they found her and emailed me her records within 5 mins! That was amazing! You put this dog mom at ease and we were able to get her to the vet and treated and now my Piper (previously Bora, German Shepard mix-7 years old) is feeling so much better! She is my best friend and buddy and my whole life was in shambles the whole time she was sick! I truly suffered along with her! Thank you so much for your help the other day! PAC is truly a wonderful rescue with such a dedicated staff and board. They rescue dogs from many southern shelters, which means a wide variety of dog types. They take wonderful care of them and provide training for dogs that need it in order to facilitate adoptions. Foster homes are always needed. Don't get me wrong, my husband and I travel 45 minutes to take our pet gang (Domestic Cat, Siamese Cat, and 8wk old German Shepard) to receive services at Providence. My past visit; however, was less than great. Perhaps Covid played a huge part but no one answers the phone anymore, appointments are over a month out, and I arrived about 6 minutes late (traffic and having to drive without my husband for the first time) and they refused my pup service. Although I technically arrived on time, I couldn't find the main entrance and since NO ONE answers the phone anymore. I had to wait to ask a local. I was told that there was nothing they could do and given another appointment for a month later😡 Now something lead me to request a manager call back (via text of course). The next day I received that call, explained my situation, and was told that their policy gives a 8 minute grace period so technically I could have been seen. I was offered a same day appointment as a courtesy (which is the type of service my husband and I have grown to love) and then able to calm down some. It was just unfortunate that I had to go through that experience. My final thoughts are yes they are a great place to take you pets. My advice though... don't expect direct phone contact, schedule appointments WAY in advance, and don't have ANY kind of delay. In fact, try to get there a half hour early!

A suggestion? When releasing dogs to foster or adoption, please be honest about behavior issues. I read the history of the dog given to me, which minimized leash reactivity, putting the onus on the previous adoptive family. It was not until I was leaving with the dog that I was handed more materials, including the surrender background. Had I been given a full history, I would not have brought the dog home to foster. He was surrendered at least 3x over 18 months @ PAC.

The dog I rescued was so malnutrished they sold her to us as a puppy. She was dirty and smells like she had been sleeping in her own urine. And her nails were ungodly long. They can def use more attention and improvement.... Let me re-phrase you had me pay $350 last Christmas for a dog you told me was just about 6 months. Only to pay thousands at a vet. To find out she's alot older just very malnutrition and poor condition. Point blank period you need to step your game up. If I'm payingng 350.00 you can feed and bath.

I had to surrender my two cats today that I've had for 5 yrs since they were about 8 weeks old. I didn't want to surrender them but had no choice due to an allergy issue in my household. One of the hardest things I had to do. As for the staff they were ok. They could have been more supportive. Didnt say anything at all about the process or how my cats did during the evaluation. Nothing at all. They sent a man out to the lobby where my husband and i were sitting with my cats empty carriers which really broke my heart and we told the two girls who came out to get our cats that they could keep the carriers. I wasn't thrilled about that. I am hoping they go to good homes. They do deserve all of the love and care. Please all I ask of you to find a good home for them.

While out of the way for us we live near Baltimore. Our rescue foster dog, need a dental & neutering. While trying to find services locally, most vets were far to expensive for the rescue. Providence worked with rescue to provide affordable vet services. The Staff were friendly, and understood the inherit issues dealing with Rescues. They couldn't have been more accommodating! They do have a process, however it works well when everyone adheres to it.

In may of 2020, we decided we wanted a pet, aided by the isolation of the Pandemic-era lockdowns. One of my friends from college works at providence, and knowing how good and caring she is with animals, I made the assumption that by extension, Providence also takes great care of the animals they shelter. Based on this assumption, my fiance and I trusted providence to find us the perfect cat companion. Now that it's been more than a year, I can happily confirm that providence employs a selection of truly caring, dedicated individuals who put the lives of animals above their own. Given how often their list of ready-to-adopt pets changes, its very telling that their #1 goal is to get animals out of the shelter and into the hands of a caring owner, for life. Beyond ensuring that as many pets as possible are placed in the hands of good owners, providence also contributes at a community level by offering public veterinary and behavioral services, humane animal law enforcement, education and even providing pet food pantries. They treat putting a pet down as an absolute last resort, doing everything they possibly can to make a pet home-ready; medically and behaviorally speaking. This fact alone shows Providence's utmost dedication to every animal that enters(and eventually exits) its doors. During our adoption procedure for Gerald, I quickly understood a sense of professional attentiveness on behalf of Providence's staff. Despite the fact that all of this happened virtually due to the pandemic, the staff members who worked to complete the adoption process with us did everything they could to explain Gerald's history, his behavioral tendencies, his medical needs, and even expressed details about his character. We were given a detailed catalogue of day to day notes, showing how he interacted with his caregivers, the other cats/dogs at providence, and what sort of personality he showed. When they told us he had an illness called FIV, they even provided information about the illness and shared previous examples of cats who lived with it as precedent. Providence even set up virtual interviews with us, Gerald, and his foster, who also showed an extreme level of care and compassion for the cats under her care in addition to Gerald. From Gerald's history (he was taken from ACCT to be cared for at providence), its clear that he was in pretty rough shape in his first days at the shelter. He had cuts and bruises all over his face, head, and front legs, was a bit underweight, and based on the account from ACCT was likely hit by a car. The video they shared on their instagram page of his first day at providence showed a cat who was beat up, scrawny and scarred, but most importantly still very friendly. Before we were able to bring him home, Gerald needed several procedures done to ensure he was in good health - a step that cemented my trust in Providence's process. Gerald was not neutered, not up to date on all shots, and had a few other underlying problems from the injuries he sustained before being taken in. After his procedures and right before we were supposed to pick him up to bring him to our home, Gerald developed a bad case of Anemia. Providence immediately withheld him from being adopted, until they could clarify that he was healthy enough to be handed off. A few weeks had passed, and we weren't sure if we'd ever meet him, but then we finally received confirmation that Gerald was cleared for the handoff. We were given the remainder of his medicine, and picked him up from the foster, and since then have been incredibly happy with our decision. Gerald has been an amazing addition to our home, and I happily credit Providence with the unique cat Gerald has developed into since then. If you are looking to adopt or foster a pet, I whole-heartedly recommend trusting Providence.

We were there for 3 hours playing with all the kittens and cats. Received no help, no acknowledgement the entire time. I noticed on cat had been sleeping the entire time we were there. Never taken out of it's cage, didn't play with any of the other cats...I did adopt that day , and due to circumstances beyond my control I developed a health problem a month later and had to surrender the cat..the only one in there who offered me any support from day one was Amber. She loves her job..I had email correspondence with more than one volunteer..all wonderful and helpful...the other girls who work there leave a lot to the imagination with their lack of help, support and even manners. they are miserable and let you know it. When I did the surrender the girl who waited on me acted as if I was dirt.

I dont typically write reviews and no one even asked me to do this (I wanted to state this because I am often skeptical of online reviews). I want to share my experience to help other dog parents who are on the fence about having their dog spayed/neutured at Providence Animal Center. Some of the reviews made me very nervous so I prayed and hoped for the best as I could not bring myself to pay almost $700 to have her spayed through our vet. I am so very thankful to have found this place via a google search. I was able to have her spayed at providence for $215 and this included the e-collar, pain meds, microchipping and a good nail trim. My 50+lb standard Goldendoodle was spayed on 5/11/2022 and I am 100% pleased with the care she received and the outcome. She is two weeks post op and the scar is small and barely visible. No infections or complications and the staff were very kind and clear on post-op care instructions. I highly recommend. The only negative is the phone system. I called and sent several text message pre-op and no one ever responded to me...that was quite frustrating and almost prompted me to cancel the appointment. However, when I called to request a copy of the invoice post-op I was able to speak with someone immediately and she sent the invoice to me within a few minutes. Hopefully, this is an indication that they have improved communication. Thank you for taking great care of my girl and an overall wonderful experience

We came here to have our dog spayed. This place was working with the rescue we got our dog from, hence why we chose this place. The queueing system for pickup at the end of the day is a bit of a mess; especially their phone tree. I would recommend just using the text service even though it takes awhile for them to acknowledge your text for pickup. The driveway is also a pain. However, our dog is recovering very well and seems to have been treated well at Providence.

Very nice shelter, they have a big walking area with grass and trees so you can socialize with the dogs you might be interested to adopt. Very clean spaces. Is a none kill shelter. They have all kinds of dogs and ages. Here are the pictures of two senior dogs they came together to the shelter and they were very sweet.

Dr. Thompson is amazing. My sweet 16 year old cat suddenly became ill. Dr. Thompson went above and beyond to help me decide what was the best course of act to take. This is a wonderful facility. We went on a Saturday looking for a possible 2nd dog. They have a policy that you are able to do sleepovers with the animals for a small fee (this goes to help care for their animals). If the sleepover works out, the adoption is easily completed over the phone. We picked out a cute dog and we opted for the overnight visit. I am so glad we did that, as the dog we wanted to adopt was wonderful but, tried to eat our 2 cats and was not a good fit. We took the dog back and she was adopted 2 days later to a family with no cats. I know the sweet dog will be very happy in her new home. The dog initially passed the quick cat test at the facility however, the overnight provided valuable insight to ensure her adoption would be successful with the right family. This is a great shelter. I highly recommend looking for your next dog or cat here.

What an excellent place to have caring for animals. Every single staff member is helpful and every dog is cared for. We adopted a beautiful pup and all the perks that come along with the adoption are helpful. We adopted on a particularly busy day and there was some chaos from other customers. Joey at first was scared of things because were he was before we got him people were saying that he wasn't there's and it took a little while but he's super sweet and would never hurt anyone on purpose. He even lets you hold him now. Super talkative but cute and sweet all the same. We love him.

Everyone at the shelter was so helpful in helping me find my forever dog! Providence was happy to let me meet as many dogs as I wanted to. They provide a private room with toys where you can really get to know each dog's personality. I was also able to take any dog of interest outside to see how the dog did with a leash and being outdoors. The shelter is clean. The animals are well cared for. When I had some hesitation, they explained that I could do a test sleepover for up to 3 nights. I signed up for 2 nights, but was in love after only 1 night. I am ecstatic with my new dog Luna! I highly recommend Providence Animal Center for any adoption!

I originally thought this was the best place to adopt in the area. and it may still be. however, one of the two kittens I adopted from here had worms and I just missed the window to get free deworming from the shelter. so I had to pay to get them dewormed, even though the shelter said they dewormed them. also, this same kitten was injured and couldn't walk well, but nobody at the shelter mentioned this to us and he wasn't walking around when we went to see him. so we had no idea he was hurt and we didn't even get to find out why. what would have happened if we weren't capable of taking care of an injured cat but we unintentionally adopted one? otherwise, the animal turnover is very high due to the responsiveness of the employees, so if you want a specific animal, keep an eye on the Facebook page and be prepared to show up early

Our dog Della went this afternoon to get a bordetella vaccination which s required by where she goes to Day Care and boarding. We also needed her heartworm medicatIon renewed. They did a heartworm blood test which is apparently required at least once a year. It showed negative for heart worm but positive for lyme. She has never gotten a Lyme vaccination so this is no surprise. As a result we need to get a urine sample from her, she needs to go on a antibiotic for 30 days, and possibly a lyme vaccination. All this for a 2 percent chance this could risk her having kidney failure. I do not doubt the vet is just concerned about her health but I find this excessive. I still would not hesitate recommend them for vet care.

I took two cats to get spayed and they're doing great and believe they were handled with so much care however FYI the wait outside to get in, in the evening or pick up can be long cuz due to covid you have to stay outside, I also could not afford to get my cat spayed and I qualified for a discount and with Christmas and me struggling to get my kids gifts they made it really easy on me too thank you guys so much Precious and S'mores are doing great!

I love this place. I got my cat Annabelle there and it was really nice because you can go there for several days before you make a selection and play with the cats and see which ones you like. They have a really great selection of kittens and other things. My experience at these places in the past has been there usually pretty sketchy and the cats are loaded with fleas and everything else. This place is not like that at all the people that work there are mostly volunteers and you can tell that they really really love the animals.

We adopted an a kitten on Christmas Eve from Providence Animal Center and couldn't be happier. They had a special puppy and kitten event which started at noon, we arrived at 11:30 thinking we would be early and there were already about 30 people in line. We waited for quite a while as they opened and then only allowed in a few people at a time as to not overwhelm the animals or crowd the space too much (which is understandable) but locked out and got the last kitten available and he is awesome! Dexter (original name Dasher) is social, loves being around people, and gets along great with our dogs. The process itself was a little hectic but it all worked out and I believe that the volunteers were doing their best with the large Christmas Eve crowd. We adopted a dog from there last year that we absolutely love and if we ever get another animal we would definitely adopt from Providence again. Unfortunately, my sister had to go here to have her cat's leg amputated, but they are very reasonable as far as surgery goes because they leave the recovery up to you. They are very friendly and show genuine interest in the health of your pet. They offer adoption services for cats and dogs and they let you spend time with the animals so that you can find the right one for you.

I've made several visits to this SPCA office over the past 4 years and they always have helpful staff. I have even called in personally after a visit to let one of the staff know they did an exceptional job. This is the best SPCA ever!!. We had a poor cat that had been suffering all types of weather for the past year. The cat lived over my back fence. Numerous attempts to catch her but she escaped several times I fed her 3 times a day, fresh water and rugs to lay on always clean, She had the cleanest area around for outside cat. She had babies around 8 weeks ago and with her and I, we attended them all day. I called the SPCA and they stepped right up to help!!! One of the other SPCAs lent us a trap, a good one!!! We trapped her yesterday. The providence animal center in media, was very very nice and helpful. I found a new forever home with the nicest person ever. She is resting and recovering now at her new home. Her babies are still in the woods, I will get them for sure. They did not even charge us one cent!!!!! We donated to them and will donate forever now. All the workers are so compassionate ,the doctors are top notch!!! very clean place, really you couldnt ask for anything more . I rank them number one in animal care, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. its been a real long year but well worth it in the end. We could of never done this without their help, love , and concern. All the stress I have been carrying around for the past year is gone. God does exist and if you ask , he does answer our prayers..... BEST PLACE EVER TRUST ME. BEST WORKERS AND DOCTORS!!!!!!!

They obviously care about every dog as if they were family. They keep extensive and detailed notes on all the dogs, makes you really get a sense for the dogs personality. However, the place needs to be better taken care of. There is insulation hanging from many places. The floors are dirty and wet, even in the reception area.
