The vet is a little rough around the edges but he truly cares for the animals that come in. Please do not forget your facemask. I totally understand, especially if he is working with animals. Reasonable prices, I won't be changing my Vet for my pup any time soon.

My usually spirited 12yr old Beagle was very lethargic, losing Bladder control, not eating at all, rapid muscle and weight loss... we went on a Sunday, after calling 5-7 other Hospitals in a 20mile radius! 1 other Hospital told us 5hr wait, 1 said wait to see "if" we can see you! Lyndhurst Animal Hospital wait time was 1/3 less then any open Hospital. We called, he took our #, put us on a list, we waited in our car.... appx 1hr later we were in... He did a checkup, drew some blood and set my Dog on an I.V Drip... we were in the Exam-Room for appx 1hr, very communicative (from what I could understand)... He's not too talkative, and the office appears a bit "weathered"... However, the Doctor appears very seasoned... He asked to call back the next Morning for results... and was very thorough and informative w/ the results; took his time to go over all the points and options... and in his poor outcome analysis was very empathetic and helpful! * plenty of on-street parking, right in-front of the office * Office visit was pretty prompt, not a long wait time * he appeared thorough and explained probabilities * Office visit was very (very) reasonable! Besides no "Bed Side Manner", it was not a bad office visit! I would highly recommend him!

I had a 9:00 am appointment on a Tuesday morning. I got here at 9:00 and was told to give them my number and go wait in my car - that they would call when it was our turn to come in. It is now 10:05. Numerous people have gone in. When I called over and over again, they didn’t answer. Just now she answered and said I was next after the lady that just walked in. Very frustrating. When you make an appointment, you don't expect to wait that long and be passed over for appointments that are scheduled after you. At any rate - aside from that and office appearance, this vet was (to my surprise) AMAZING. My cat is a beast when she is at the vet - he handled her, didn't stress her, didn't have to wrap her up like a burrito - he just knew how to treat her. I couldn't believe my eyes. I walked in swearing I'd never come back and left thinking that I wouldn't take her to anyone else ever again.

I’ve been going here for years. I trust Dr. Michael with my fur babies. If you’re looking for a pretty and chic modern place, then go elsewhere because this isn’t it. But one thing is for sure is the man knows what he’s doing and he cares about the animals. He is always and I mean ALWAYS available. He has a passion for what he does. The place is a little messy and not the cleanest but I rather bring my dogs to a vet who cares and doesn’t over charge, than to a state of the art place with an arrogant doctor and prices that will literally cause an anxiety attack.

I like the place. Doctor seems to know what he is doing. He is like one of those old school doctors I see in my country. The clinic is decent. The best part is that walk ins are allowed every day M-F from 9am-12pm and Saturday 9am-4pm.

This is the BEST veterinarian I have ever used. He is so kind and professional with the animals. Yes the place has a strong smell when you walk in, but so what. Get over it. His prices are great, and he is so empathetic to the animals. I’ve used him for ten years. I put both of my dogs down this winter and he was amazing. I was a wreck and he waited till all of his patients were gone for the night before he did it. He let me stay for as long as I needed to say goodbye after the procedure was done. They are professional and very courteous.

Due to Covid there was a wait but it wasn't too bad, price was great had to get German Shepherd puppy microchip. Was there for about an hour but i did arrive 45 minutes early since she was a new patient here. Visit was quick but all my questions were answered and did not feel rushed.. Beyond wonderful staff! I had a great experience with both my cat and my dog with this doctor. If there are some reviews that make you think to not go here because it’s not the most pristine looking place, I would ignore that. The way he took care of my dogs ear infection (I went to other vets for the last year and it was never fixed until he took care of it and gave the right medications and treatment) and my cat got spayed there and had such an easy recovery with such small sized sutures compared to others I’ve seen. Your pets will be in good hands with him. He works hard and well.

Doctor is good and he cares, he has great prices, but you’re not coming here for a luxury experience. Not the cleanest or best smelling but they do their best. A lot of the reviews talk about how dirty the place is, I agree but at the end of the day he gets your animals treated for whatever issues you brought them there for which was the ultimate goal. If you want a prestigious glits and glam vet that charges 3-5x the price he does to do the same treatment then this is not the place. This veterinarian is knowledgable and his diagnosis are spot on, his prices are very affordable considering many other veterinarians charge 3-5x the price he charges. Between myself and family we have had about 15 dogs be treated by him over the last 2 decades. I have been quoted several $1000s for a couple of stitches at other vets and came here for a lot less, my dogs healed up perfectly fine with minimal scarring. We have had multiple procedures and surgeries done on our animals over the years and never once has there ever been an infection, mis diagnosis, or issue. The vet can be stern and seem not in touch with his emotions to some but let him do his job, follow his instructions, and youll be fine.

Other places weren't willing to take new clients or we had to wait weeks. He is worth the wait even if you have to wait a little longer past your appointment. No comments will be enough to express how good that doctor is. I can guarantee he knows what he does! He won’t charge you more than you really have to pay,he won’t let your pet suffering or he won’t diagnose your pet wrongly or even ask you to give medications to you pet that is not necessary. You don’t find a vet like him anymore… Do the front desk work is excellent as the doctor service? No, but you won’t find 100% services anywhere. Do the first look of the office can be suspicious? Yes,because he receives all day long sick animalsand this can results in bad smells and dirty place. The most important that you will be looking at the end is for your pet be safe and healthy and you definitely will find there. My dog is his patient for 9years and I know what im talking about,he is a wonderful doctor and person.

I took my Cockapoo back in 2020 she was really sick. I personally thought she had covid 😒 he took good care of her. The place is not the best looking nor does it smell great but he definitely is great with animals. Took her back in 2021 she had breast cancer he performed her surgery and she is doing great- and he does not over charge!

This review is long overdue, Dr Michael is the best vet hands down. His bedside manner is excellent. He really took care of my fur-baby after an eye injury. While another doctor in Clifton emergency wanted to remove my dog’s eye and started writing up the bill before my approval, the following morning I took my dog to Dr. Michael and he operated on a Sunday. My dog was able to keep her eye and is doing great! Dr. Michael explained everything to me and made sure I knew how to administer the meds properly. I cannot thank him enough... and he did not try to rob me blind. He’s caring and fair. I really trust him with my little fur-baby ♥️

When we rescued our beloved Yorkshire Terrier, she had been living in three homes prior to ours, but we knew ours would be the last. Not having had a dog for 12 years, we were looking for a new vet in the area, and the glowing recommendations for Dr. Mecheal were enough for us to bring her for her initial check-up. We sensed a "no-nonsense" approach, and we appreciated his direct manner of speaking and we came to understand his unswerving commitment to the animals in his care. We were fortunate to have had our little girl for the last three years of her life and when your dog has given you all the love she has, it's hard to make the difficult decisions when any quality of life is gone. Dr. Mecheal did everything he could have done to preserve her life, and he had the most humane bedside manner, helping us to understand that, in letting her go, at the end, we were honoring her life. Leaving Lyndhurst Animal Hospital for the last time (until we have another friend to bring to him), my wife and I recognized that we were in the presence of a compassionate veterinarian who treated our dog, and us, with dignity. His staff were wonderful, too!

Today I called first thing in the morning to tell them my dog Kobe wasn’t drinking water. I went there twice because he wasn’t getting better because he has a trachea infection. The doctor’s assistant Melissa got me right in and the doctor assured me that he will be okay and that he just needs prednisone now. I feel so relieved, he is such a warm, caring vet and my dogs are so lucky to have him as their doctor. I always say how lucky I am to have him take care of my babies but I never write about it so today I thought I should. I have had so many great experiences with this doctor. Highly recommend and he deserves more than 5 stars!

I have been to dr Michael office over the past 7 years and family members as well It’s not the prettiest office by all means but he is honest and reasonable. He doesn’t rip you off like other vet hospital. He all about the animals and I never had an issue with any of my 2 dogs I brought there. No one is God and not sure about the other bad reviews none of them explain what exactly he did or didn’t do I recommend his place. The place is packed every time so he couldn’t be that horrible! Even if you have to wait he worth it.

the receptionist was very polite and informative. there wasn’t a long wait. Dr michael was straight to the point and played no games. This was my cats first time at the vet & i thought he’d be terrified and hard to work with but Dr michael kept him at ease. Today I took my dog here because of an eye infection and the entire visit with medication was just 120$ any other vet for a simple checkup would of been easily 500$ and I even took my friend's ferret here and he attended to her so quick.

I appreciate his prices and its helpful for other patients but it was not helpful when i had to go elsewhere to find out the cause of the problem. Extremely rude towards women unless you have your husband right next to you and then he has a complete change of heart. He yelled at me because I adjusted my face mask. I understand covid scares but his behavior was uncalled for. His prices may be cheap but he will do his job less than half way complete so you have to keep seeing him for years over the same issue.

Few dentist visits (got 8 adult Pekingese). And the doctor /staff always care for my pets. A shorter drop and pick up, could maybe cut the waiting time. Instead of dropping the pet before opening, maybe have them come in closer to surgery time. Say 11am instead of 9am. So that the pets don't spend the entire day in a cage.

I took my dog as an emergency, fortunally It was not busy, and he saw her right the way. Dr did X Rays, blood work and immediatly told me she needed surgery. Sugery was on 08/02/19 and Today 08/05/19 my dog is walking and eating good. Her stitches look great. My dog is having a fast recovery from her spayed surgery. His staff was super nice to me and to do puppy. I will be changing vets, even if its kinda far but I get good service and a very good DR taking care of her(Trust me, he knows what he is doing). I've seen many reviews stating he does not wear a coat, or the place is not clean etc... He might not wear a coat, the place was clean for me. What I can tell you is that this man goes above an beyond to save your animals, and for me thats more than wearing a coat. Plus he is very reasonable with the prices. This may not be the fanciest vets office but Dr. Mechel is a pretty amazing vet. My family’s been coming to him for the past 8 years because he’s both exceptional and affordable. He may come off as a little cold, but the man knows exactly what he’s doing. When my dog was hit by a car, another vet told us that her leg would have to completely be amputated, a very costly procedure that would have left her crippled...Dr. Mechel on the other hand was able to save her leg for more than half the cost of an amputation!! I bring all my family’s pets here and always recommend him to friends. He’s a good vet who will do his best to work with you on an effective, affordable treatment plan.

The Dr. is hard to understand and a little rough around the edges at times. However I've been to several vets and Dr. Michael is just as good as the rest. He is half the price of most vets.My dog was/is having skin issues, it took awhile to figure it out. I paid about $200. for the tests. Went to another vet for a second opinion, the same tests with the same results(no answers) it cost us over $800.

I love taking my dog here and knowing he does emergency surgery is a plus the vet is amazing and nice and patient. You can see he loves what he does and his prices are very cheap compared to Orandell for the same procedure. I remember my dog stayed for a weekend one time and they only charged my family 300$ that included food and care and an additional 100$ for all the medicine and shots.

Been taking my dogs here over 9 years. We walked in the first time with a packed waiting room, and sick puppy. The doctor walked past my sick puppy, took one look, and immediately made her his next patient. That was the first time doc saved her life!! The wait is well worth it!!

I first used this vet years ago to euthanize my cat. He took me right away and explained why my cat was suffering so much (stomach tumor). He was very compassionate. And also cheaper than other vets. The next time I brought my dog because he had a tumor on his gums in his mouth. He was very patient and told me it had to be done right away. Although my appointment was canceled at first for an emergency, he ended up doing the surgery on New Years eve. The tumor was not cancerous. Unfortunately I just noticed an other one about an inch away from the one that was removed a year ago. I will be taking him in while this tumor is small. Last time I paid about $550 for everything, which was very reasonable. The office can get very crowded and smelly but no-frills care is what you get with a great doctor and nice staff. Vets do operations on farm animals in barns and barn yards all the time which are not the most sanitary. He is a better doctor than what I encountered on a weekend at Oradell Animal Hospital once.

I wish they had a better system when it comes to appointments. I have waited up to 4 hrs with an appointment. I live 1 hr away so thats 6 hrs plus however long it takes for the visit. i came here after seeing a number of other vets who had overcharged me for years. after trying to price out an emergency surgery with a few local vets, i spoke to the gentleman who i adopted my pets from. he led me here to this doctor. what i was told was going to be a three - part surgery from all varying vets who saw my pet, this doctor was able to do in one shot - which is so important, as we know that our animals are very sensitive and the extra stress is so detrimental to their health. my baby is now happy, healthy, and thriving! myself and my family now bring all of our animals here and will continue to. this doctor is very honest and works with you, even when you are overwhelmed and overcome by very sad circumstances with your beloved pet. not every one likes blunt honesty, but he is a wonderful doctor, who will take an emergency (hit and run in the middle of the night!) at all hours of the day. he is an angel to me and those he's helped and works constantly. i'll take foul odors and a long wait any day for proper care - i thank him endlessly.

I really loved the care we were provided with and it's definitely one of the most affordable hospitals we've been to. My doggie Alexa had a large blood mass on her tummy and Dr. Michael took great care of us. He ran additional tests as well to make sure there was nothing else wrong with her. It is an emergency hospital so expect at least 2 hr wait since he gets a lot of pets with emergency visits. There is a charge for the emergency visit as well, but during the day it's cheaper than going at night. He also scheduled follow up visits for us at no extra charge.

He is the BEST vet ever! he loves animals and he is very knowledgeable. Prices are very reasonable. He saved my dog years ago when his stomach flipped even though my dog was 16 at the same - he saved him. He also did surgery for his anal sacs area and it was a complete success. Other vets told me to do that when my dog was very young but Dr Mechel was very honest and told me it wasn't needed. My dog went withouth surgery for years until he was old. In one word, Dr Mechel is an excellent vet and I recommend him 100%. The place used to be a little sloppy but now it looks clean and bright.

So, I went to the Lyndhurst Animal Hospital with my 5 year old Beagle. I read reviews before going so I had an idea of what to expect. The place is not the nicest place on earth and would benefit from some serious updating. That being said, the Dr. and his staff were super nice, very gentle with my dog, and diagnosed his issue and gave me the meds he needed. The price was more than fair when compared with what I have paid in the past at other places. I will take the dog back there when needed.

THE BEST VET! I'm surprised to find low reviews. Dr Mecheal has a heart for all the little creatures that come to visit him. He has extremely reasonably prices, you can tell he is there to help the animals, you can see in the way he looks at the animal that he is compassionate. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Dr. Mecheal. He is not about making money, he genuinely cares about your pet and refers to your pet as "the baby". I have now been going to Dr. Mechael since 2008. Initially, I was a bit weary about the location because it did need some TLC but apparently some change of staff and a new face lift have made a HUGE difference. But none of that speaks for the amount of care he gives to the pet! I lost a pet due to someone poisoning the pet right outside of my home and Dr. Mecheal really tried his best. He even performed CPR on the dog even though he was gone by that time. I had a 2nd dog and he urged me to go home and bring him in. He immediately ran blood tests and aggressively treated him to avoid any deterioration as he also had traces of the poison in the system. Dr. Mechael knows us by now and when he sees us coming with our bulldog, he is so pleasant with him. He has given us great advice in his treatment and sometimes helps us out with the bill. We truly appreciate this man and he has been a savior to our pet. We have referred over 50 people who are all so happy with him. He even saved my cousin's chihuahua who was given an injection by another vet that damaged his neurological system and through surgery, an extensive therapy and referral to an amazing rehab specialist, the dog is back up and running and doing so well. The stories go on and on. Don't let the negative stories you read here influence you. Youll read repeatedly about how great he is with the pets and that is all that matters. Care of your pet with genuine interest and without breaking your pocket.

I have known Dr. Mecheal since 2002, when I was referred to him by another veterinarian. Since then, Dr. Mecheal took excellent care of my dog and two cats until they died. The dog lived to be 13 years old, the lady cat lived to be 15 years old and my little male cat lived to be 16 years old. Dr. Mecheal has always been extremely knowledgeable and professional in the care of my animals. He has a little temper, but who doesn't? His clinic is not fancy, but it is always clean and it has whatever is needed for the care of the animals and the waiting public. His prices are very reasonable. I will fully recommend Dr. Mechael without any hesitation.

Dr Mecheal saved my best bud's life. My cat's 15 and his urinary tract was blocked. Dr Mecheal was referred to me by Dr. Carlos, another amazing human being, who did all sorts of diagnostics for me when I was waiting for some checks to come through (i had no money, and all other vets basically said, 'too bad for your cat, he'll die.' but these doctors said, 'i will help you'). Dr. Mecheal saw us after hours and took time to explain what the possible problems were, then comforted me when I began to cry. I didn't want my cat to be in pain, but this man was willing to do what it took to make him better. Thank you so much. To respond to the other reviews, don't bother about the smell. Animals are stinky, so if you don't like it, don't have a pet. The place is sanitary, which is all that matters.

Been there numerous times and was never dissapointed. If you're looking for a fancy high end vet this is not for you. However the Doctor really cares about the animals, lives upstairs, will see you at at off hours if your pet is having an emergency, and his prices are very reasonable. I would be curious to know how much extra dollars the complainers are willing to pay for fancy amenities and a softer bedside manner? I was never put off by the doctor's matter of fact delivery style, he simply states facts. so if this offends you (I'm in retail and believe me many people are offended by staing facts) go to an expensive vet. The Doctor believes that there are many folks that won't seek medical treatment for their pets if they can't afford it, so instead of catering to the high maintainance folks he offers quality treatment in a bare bones setting that never comprimises the pet's safty or health. I would recommend him to anyone that is a no nonsense person that loves their pet but doesn't want to go broke when their pet needs a doctor's treatment. Kudo Dr Michael....I'm a fan!

No complaints here. I brought our little elderly dog in, who we thought was on his death bed. I am in the medical profession myself, so I know what quality looks like. this vet gives old fashioned care, no BS! I was very pleased with the treatment, he hydrated our dog with IV fluids right there on the spot, took bld work and xrays. We had been previously to another vet in Hillsdale, and he was impatient, and curt with me. I will def return with my pets. If you want fluff, don't bother going to him, but if what your looking for is knowledge, and quality treatment give him a try.

The bad reviews here simply sound nuts to me. Yes, Dr. Mechael is a little gruff in his demeanor, but if you have just an ounce of patience, you'll see what an amazing vet he really is. When my sweet cat Hope became deathly ill and needed exploratory surgery, Oradell Animal Hospital wanted about $4,000, while Dr. Mechael did it for $1,500. And to be honest, any other vet probably wouldn't have even done the surgery once they opened her up, as she was absolutely filled with benign tumors. When Dr. Mechael ran out of blood (as Hope's surgery went on so long), the receptionist went home to get her cat, who actually donated blood to my baby! Dr. Mechael let me visit Hope every single day during her five-day recovery (included in the fee) and tend to her in her cage, even on Christmas Day, and he always very sweetly called her "the baby." When she recovered, he said that she had actually died twice on the table, but said he didn't tell me that at first as he knew I would cry. Look, this is a guy who will do a house call for your pet at 3 a.m. if it's too sick to get to the hospital. Is his place less than sanitary? Yes (but no so much that the animals are in danger). Does he wear a lab coat? No. Does he have animal stains all over his shirt? Yes. But does he work himself to the bone on behalf of all animals? Absolutely. My recommendation if you decide to go there is to be there when the place opens, otherwise you'll wait for two or three hours. Why? Because he's POPULAR. And those of us who get him, love him. Oh, and after Hope's surgery, he saved her tumors in a bag for me to see, just to show how sick she really was. "The baby" lived another three years thanks to Dr. Mechael, and when she got sick again, he was honest with me that it was time to let her go. I really do love the guy. I get a kick out of him, and I admire him tremendously.
