I rarely leave reviews on Google, but I think so highly of this Vet, I would give 6 stars if I could. The doctors, nurses and staff are all incredible - they are patient, compassionate and attentive. Dr. Weinstock has been AMAZING to me and my sweet girl, Jules and I can’t thank her enough. She has been so attentive that she has taken the time to call me on multiple occasions to calm my nerves about an upcoming surgery. She treats my dog with the same care that she would for her own, and it makes me feel safe when dealing with health scares. The nurses have all been incredibly caring and empathetic and have made my girl feel comfortable and excited to be there. They have always been in a good mood, so the facility really seems like a place that values their employees - and this translates to how they treat their clients. I haven’t felt rushed while at Rockaway Beach Vet and truly feel like the staff care about me, my dog and her well being. The front desk staff have been professional, kind and helpful. The facility is clean, welcoming and well decorated - you don’t feel like you’re in a stuffy doctors office, but rather a place where people really care about animals. I could go on!

We took our cat to this office to get euthanized yesterday and the service could not have been any better. We were brought in within minutes of our appointment time (which I made the day of) and the staff was very friendly. Additionally, there prices are very fair for those without pet insurance. I brought my 13 year old cat Prince in here. He had a broken canine and I knew it was time he needed dental work. I was nervous because he's an older cat - but Rockaway Beach vet took the best precautions with his bloodwork to make sure he'd be ok for anesthesia. Dr. Hollander did a wonderful job removing 3 teeth and Rose (who is WONDERFUL) made me feel so safe and told us what to do for aftercare. In just 3 short days my boy was back to his old self (minus a few teeth). I am really happy to have a vet I feel safe at for my sweet boy. Thanks guys!!

We are so pleased with the excellent care our cats always receive at Rockaway Beach Vet. Dr Ruggiero, Dr Hollander, and all the wonderful staff are so competent, caring and compassionate. Gracie, our 20 year old cat, was diagnosed by Dr Ruggiero with chronic kidney disease almost 3 years ago. We're pleased to report that she continues to live a comfortable and happy life with her 2 siblings today. It's a comfort to know we have this wonderful group to bring our babies to when they require veterinary care. We highly recommend Rockaway Beach Vet to everyone!

Got a new puppy and needed vaccines but didn't want to schlep all the way to the breeder's recommended one. We've been in this area for less than a year but wanted to stay local. I rarely leave 5 stars but this Veterinarian establishment deserves 6 stars. Reception area is clean, people accepting patients are friendly, efficient. The wait was short. Our puppy was weighed, looked over, took temp, etc. The Assistant was super nice, professional, and our puppy didn't feel uncomfortable at all around her. She was super knowledgeable, and explained everything and answered every question I had. Veterinarian was efficient, gentle, explained everything we needed to know. Super nice and the puppy loved her (the timing of the treat by the assistant and the shot was perfection as the puppy didn't feel a thing). Bottom line is that I've had dogs and cats all my life and this was by far the best, most efficient, friendly, professional, knowledgeable Veterinarian service I've ever had. And that says a lot.

The veterinary service is professional and conscious of the pet-owner who is on top of high quality care for his/ her animal companions. We were beyond happy with our visit. We just moved to the area and were a little anxious about changing vets with our pup who has some anxiety/aggression with unfamiliar people. Rose and Dr. Weinstock were amazing with our dog and treated him in a calm and loving manner. We could not have asked for a better first visit. They even made sure they were both available for our next visit to help continue to build the bond between our dog and them. During checkout, they applied as many discounts as they could to our prescriptions and visit fee as they were able, helping with the cost. We are loving Rockaway Beach Vet already.

So happy this business exists where it does! I could not have dreamed up a better Veterinary service to have so close to my house. Every single person who works here is kind, caring, and lovable. And for NYC, you know that is RARE. The Dr. that I have taken Charlie to see there is patient, takes her time, listens, and clearly loves our pets. The groomers who work there do fantastic work and treat your furry baby like their own. Best of all, this office creates an atmosphere of trust, and what could be more important than that when you need help with your loving little critters? Have you ever had that experience where your pet figures out that you are taking them to the vet, and they get very unhappy? Yeah, me too. However, Charlie loves this place. When he figures out that is where we are headed, he gets more happy! And he leaves happy, too. So, if you need a vet out at Rockaway .... Go here!!!! Care about money way way too much. Update: I am moving this to 4 stars. They definitely care about money a lot but when I woke up one morning it was “time” for my dog. They immediately accommodated us& got us in. They were super compassionate & understanding. I planned but didn’t plan for the day. They ended up giving me my dogs ashes in time & in a nice urn, stamps of her paw prints, hair locks, and her “cremation certificate” which was the day before my birthday, around a week later. It cost around $400 to do the dreaded deed, but for the speediness & calmness of the staff while I was an emotional mess, was helpful. Horrible day but they did deliver probably the best anyone could.

Absolutely love our new vet and cat bestie, Dr. Ruggiero. My cats adore her (which says a lot!) and she was thorough, kind, compassionate and lovely while exploring some abnormalities in one of their bloodwork panels. We just did a dental cleaning/extraction surgery with Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services yesterday for one of my cats and the results are phenomenal. My cat is basically recovered less than 24 hours later and we were kept in contact with throughout the entire procedure and the cost was just right! After losing my favorite vet years ago, I haven’t found another one that I adored but that has finally changed and I couldn’t be happier! Thank you Dr. Ruggiero and RBVS staff!

I've lived in the Rockaways my whole life and had taken my dog, Jessie, to three other local veterinarians. They were okay, but they can't compare to Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services. Dr. Ruggiero was honest and genuine in her caring for Jessie. We met her when my dog was already a senior dog in Feb 2017. Jessie was beginning to lose her vision and experiencing trouble with going downstairs. She wasn't jumping as often as she used to. Over the next two years, Jessie would be diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. She was completely blind in one eye and had poor vision in the other. Years of jumping with excitement had worn on her joints in her legs and walking was difficult. She was loosing her hair. Although my family and I decided not to treat Cushing's, Dr. Ruggiero was nonjudgemental. She did what she could to continue to make Jessie as comfortable as possible through her aging process. She was very thorough in always explaining what Jessie could have been experiencing. This past summer we took Jessie to the doctor because caring for her was becoming emotionally difficult and Jessie's quality of life was really poor. We sought Dr. Ruggiero's advice and shared with her our hesitations toward putting her down. Dr. Ruggiero was unbiased but honest in her opinion of Jessie's condition. After a couple of weeks, we decided to make an appointment to euthanize Jessie. My entire family filled the room for the procedure. I can't emphasize how the entire staff made us feel so at peace and were so accommodating during the whole time we were there. It was extremely difficult and I get emotional writing this review, but my family and I are so grateful that Dr. Ruggiero was able to usher us through this process. She was so patient and so respectful. This review is long over-due, but I have to write it now because recently I received a sympathy card in the mail from Dr. Ruggiero's office with a handwritten note about Jessie. I don't know if we'll get another dog in the future, but I'll recommend Dr. Ruggiero's office to anyone in the area with a pet that they love. You'll find no better service anywhere else.

Dr. Hollander is great with my puppy, Casino who is now 7.5 months old. He has been seeing him Since he was 3 months old. All the advice he gave me has been great since we are new puppy parents. I was so nervous bringing in my cat as I had a horrible experience at a past vet clinic, but they made things so comfortable. I had to take my dog in for an urgent issue; the clinic accommodated my request for a same-day visit. Dr. Hollander and Rose, the vet tech, were fantastic, quickly diagnosed the problem and took great care of my dog. Following this experience, I decided to switch to RBVS from the vet I had been going to for over 10 years. Thank you for providing a high quality and much-needed service to the community. My only critique is that the check-out process after a follow-up visit was unduly long and disjointed.

She is an Amazing Dr. ; she was very polite and very professional , I went for some documents for my upcoming trip so I could take my ESA with me , since 2 days before they got stolen here in far rockaway, and she knew everything that I needed and helped me in short notice . Highly Recommended . Unfourtanely I forgot to ask her for a paper of a vacinne that needed to be with a stamp, and USDA denied me my papers ; so it was money wasted plus papers . Very Sad .

Staff seems organized and nice. Use of text and automated email / phone reminders. Facilities clean. I dont know how competitive pricing is. Seems a bit high but I am new to the Vet / pet thing. Could use more advice- Written or verbal on new pet. After a few visits- vest are thorough, expert and nice. Front desk could be a bit less business like and gruff.

I went to Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services for the first time this week because my cat had an emergency. Dr. Ruggiero and the nurse, Rose, did an amazing job taking care of my kitty, thanks to them she is recovering and no longer in pain. Their rate starts at $75 for a scheduled appointment and $85 for an emergency, obviously the price goes up depending on what treatment your pet needs. The service that they provide is 100% worth the price!!

This was a great visit. The office was extremely clean, the doctor explained everything clearly, was professional and kind and wasn't even fazed when my cat scratched her. I was a little bit worried about how he would react but he didn't even hiss at the other cats that were there which was unusual as usually he doesn't get along with other cats. The front desk staff is an absolute pleasure to deal with as well as the nurse I had. I'll definitely be coming back. They managed to make the experience easy on my cat and I. This office is filled with people who care about your pet just as much as you do.

RBVS is absolutely the best! Our two cats have been their patients since we adopted them at 2 months old. Dr. Hollander moved from Bay Ridge to the Rockaways and we followed him, that says a lot. He and Dr. Ruggiero have always been kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and concerned veterinarians. We've had almost everything, ranging from normal check-ups, to dental cleanings, elevated liver issues, arthritis, emergency surgery, and even cancer. We can't say enough about them as veterinarians, front desk and techs. We just love them all!

I became an owner of a pug just a few months ago and I came straight to Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services because of the feedback I received from friends and neighbors about how great Dr. Joanne Ruggiero is and the staff ! On my first puppy visit she was extremely helpful and went through every single question I had ( and I had tons ) . It was the first pet I owned and I wasn’t sure about things , but knew I wanted to take good care of my puggy. The girls fell inlove with my black pug and the team there are nice and professional ! Everyone very helpful and I honestly feel like they care about our pets as if it was their own. Great place and reasonable prices , as I hear other vets are a lot more expensive and conduct unnecessary work that is costly to us . Here , I am confident my pug is well taken cared of ! Love them !

I took my dog there for the first time to have her glands expressed because she was having some difficulty with redness and swelling. The doctor took care of her and did not even charge me for an office visit. He said it was a complementary visit and he just charged me $35 for the expression. These are my new vets forever. Staff was friendly. Although we could not go inside due to this virus situation, the staff came out to us and explained everything. I highly recommend them.

My usually pleasant and people friendly cat seriously went off on just about everyone. I was fearful they would think he was just too difficult and give up but they didn’t at all!! They were super professional and very careful to treat him the right way. I would say that they are a little more costly than other vets but you get what you pay for. THE BEST!!! There are two Veterinary Services in the Rockaway Beach area access to emergent care is limited being that we are isolated from the mainland I had an emergency where my 4 month old puppy managed to get a fishhook stuck in her jowl. The other service denied me care out of hand. They callously lied and said they were not equipped tohandletheemergency, but when I presented my pup at this service they immediately took her in and provided care. Concern and professionalism abound when dealing with the entire staff, but Dr. Rugiero rates specific kudos. She cogently explained the care provided and called the next morning to follow up. I would recommend this vet for any care that your pet may need.

We recently had to deal with a extremely difficult time with our very ill doggie. Dr Ruggerio was as genuine and caring as a person could possibly be. She constantly keep in contact even on her days off and was as concerned with his health as much as our family was. She is an amazing human being. Dr. Ruggiero is absolutely amazing. You are greeted by a friendly and outgoing staff. As soon as Dr. Ruggiero walks in the room you barely have a chance to greet her because she's on the floor with the dog making your pet at ease. She was right in his face and that was immediately after being biten in the face by her previous client.(dog that is). My dog needed some pretty serious surgery. She told me exactly what to expect both medically and financially. She was on point for his after care and needed to see him so that she felt secure in his recovery. For years I used a different veterinary service in the Rockaways. They are good and provide a good service. Dr Ruggiero saved my dog. She had a rare condition that stumped multiple vets. We were close to putting her down because she was just becoming sicker and sicker and nobody could tell us what was wrong but we decided to try Dr Ruggiero as one last attempt on a friends recommendation and she figured out what was wrong with our dog!! She prescribed her medicine that literally saved her life. It’s been 7 years, our dog is still on the medicine and doing well. If not for Dr Ruggiero she wouldn’t be here at all. She does not try to convince you that you need all kinds of fancy tests to get money out of you. She genuinely loves animals and her job— and it shows. I cannot say enough good things about her, truly.

My older dog, 13yr old was experiencing some serious gastric distress. This also happened on July 3rd and we weren’t home. I called and explained what was going on and was told we could be seen right away. We arrived and were seen by the vet within a few minutes! My 4 y.o. Havanese was seen at this office on 6/26/18 for a peculiar looking patch on his chest and groin. It turned out to be a bacterial infection which Dr. Hollander diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics and a special shampoo for. The office is fairly new and very clean. I have been looking for a new vet here in the Rockaways. So far, so good. I only brought Stripey Cat in for a simple nail trim, and the guy did it really quick and with no problems, I'm amazed. This cat was an abused cat and usually draws blood from whomever dares to touch her paws. The place seemed clean and well organized. When I called Rockaway Beach Vet they had didn't have appointments for several weeks, but when I told them I rescued a kitten and she was sick, they gave me an appointment for the next day. My cat is now thriving and getting so big. They are also convenient to use during covid because you can just pull your car up and call them and they will come out and get your animal. Dr. Ruggiero is our primary vet; in spite of the massive amount of patients she has, she knows every single one of our babies by name, and knows each of their history. She is so, so SO loving and compassionate, and treats each of our boys as if they were her own nephews. But more important than her loving bedside manner, she is absolutely BRILLIANT. She always gets right down to the root cause of the problem and offers solutions quickly and with minimal discomfort for the patient. She is so unbelievably smart and knowledgable about all things that she is able to provide solutions almost instantly. She is also extremely giving of her time; she replies to my e-mails thoroughly and clearly, even if it is her day off or after hours. While Dr. Ruggiero is our family's primary doctor, we have also brought our boys in to see Dr. Hollander a few times, when Dr. Ruggiero was on vacation or taking a well-deserved day off. Dr. Hollander is absolutely lovely as well. He is so kind and compassionate, and also extremely caring and knowledgeable. All of the staff at RBVS are top-notch professionals whose cups runneth over with compassion, empathy, and love for the animals. They actually answer the phone (no automated system! Unheard of in this day & age!!!) and they return calls promptly any time they have to call you back. They also know and love all of our babies. I could not be more grateful for the excellent quality of care my babies have received since RBVS came into our lives. Even though I live about 40 minutes away, I will continue to take all of my babies to Dr. Ruggerio and Dr. Hollander forever. They and their staff are worth every mile traveled. (And that's an understatement!) My husband and I cannot recommend RBVS highly enough. If you are in need of an amazing vet who is also affordable, fair, reasonable, and forever solution-oriented, do not hesitate to take the trip out to the Rockaways. These two doctors and their incredible staff are the epitome of kindness, goodness, and professionalism. Hey RBVS: if you guys are reading this, WE LOVE YOU.

When I was there they offered a vaccine and a blood test which my dog wasn't scheduled yet until next year. When I get home I see receipt and they gave him a vaccine which he was already given for last year for 3 years...da2pp.. One shouldn't have to be so aware of what they are administering..that's why there's records with dates. I see a lot of 5 stars..am I the only one this has happened to? Am I wrong for being upset when I have to tell them he is not due for that shot yet and still find one was given without need?

Rockaway Beach veterinary services has always taking care of my dog Remy. This past Thanksgiving right after his ninth birthday I had to put him to sleep due to cancer of the prostate bladder and kidney. The staff and Dr Ruggerio were so kind compassionate caring and understanding. Even as she administered the medication they were tears in her eyes. I think my Remmy was licking her face as if to thank her for taking away the pain. From the minute I thought he was ill she made an allowance for me to come in early to x-ray him. Right away told me she suspected something and set up an appointment for a sonogram. I still haven’t gotten over the loss of my Remy as I had no children and he was my child. But if I should get another dog he or she will not go anywhere but Rockaway Beach veterinary services. I highly recommend them they were caring compassionate dedicated and knowledgeable team.
