Dr. Foster is one of the coolest Veterinarians I've ever known. He cares deeply for animals and people too. I've brought both my cats and dog to Southview and received excellent care. I had a concern that I brought to Dr. Foster and he has gone above and beyond to correct it and make it right. The staff has always been very friendly and caring and the clinic is clean, modern and overall very beautiful inside and out. The Veterinarian team is up on current medical practices and have offered new ideas for treatments which have helped prolong the health and wellbeing of my animals. I highly recommend this hospital!

We love this place! They have great customer service and the hours are so convenient! I truly felt they cared for my dog, his overall well being, and ensured we knew options for treatments. They are very upfront with their prices and are very affordable for emergency care (compared to other options in the twin cities). My dog was hit by a car and they treated the emergency, amputation and post-surgical care; we will continue to use this clinic for his future care. Thank you to the amazing doctors, techs, front office people for helping us get through very scary moments and keeping Spike healthy!

Very nice facility and all the staff are very caring to the pets and owners. Truth be told we tried to get into our regular vet and also called 6 others until one suggested Southview. None of the others could make the time for our standard poodle but we were able to get an appointment in 2 hours. Enough of an issue that we needed to schedule a CT scan. Now we wait for results. At least we got medication and pain killers so our pup is able to eat and not crying when you touch his mouth. Grateful Fitz on my lap with his two happy brothers concerned for him.

Our boy Bogey is about to celebrate his first birthday and we have Dr. Foster and his team at Southview Animal Hospital to thank for that! Back in September Bogey was acting lethargic, and we just had a horrible feeling something was wrong. He was still eating, drinking water, and responding to treats or toys so no clinic or hospital would admit him. Dr. Foster and his team took Bogey in, quickly evaluated him, started treatment, and ultimately helped us get him a bed at another hospital where he went on two receive four blood transfusions over the course of a week as his red blood cell count was dangerously low. Mr. Bogey has been on the mend for our about four months and his prognosis is looking good. He is so full of life and loves going to Southview for his check-ups! We will be forever grateful for everyone at Southview for helping save Bogey's life.

They did an excellent job on our pups cherry eye surgery. Not only did they provided top-notch care using advanced surgery techniques it was at an affordable price. Every doctor, tech, and office staff member I have encountered has been professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you again Southview for continuing to make superior care affordable to your clients. Edit: I am knocking my original 5 star review down to 4. We have loved this clinic thus far however my last two experiences were lacking. About a month ago our dog had a raging ear infection and it was bothering him. I was told I would have to wait over a month for a “normal” vet visit but could get in with an urgent care appointment for a higher office fee. We paid the higher fee and ended up waiting over an hour past our appointment time to be seen. Office did not seem busy but I get it there could be a lot going so I overlooked it and moved on. However, last week my dog was attacked by another dog and had punctures so I obviously wanted him to be seen. I called and tried to book an appointment and was told I had to call back in the morning to see if I could get an emergency appointment? Is wounds from being attacked not classified as an emergency and reason to just book an appointment? Ultimately we brought him to another vet who was willing to give us a spot and whose total bill including meds was less than the previously mentioned urgent care fee. This is not the service, care, nor cost I associate with Southview so hoping things improve in the future.

I brought in my ferret having a medical emergency. They were unable to save him but the staff, from the front desk to the vet, were incredibly sympathetic to us losing a very loved pet unexpectedly. The euthanasia process didn't go perfectly as my little guys IV line either blew or slipped out of the vein (he's a ferret so teeny tiny veins). The vet was compassionate and answered my questions when explaining the options. Five people in one room to say goodbye and help our little guy cross the rainbow bridge and they were great across the board.

If I could give more stars, I would. I cannot express enough gratitude to Dr. Foster, Dr. Lee, and the other veterinarians & staff that cared for our dog, Percy. We brought him into urgent care for a bowel obstruction and they went above & beyond for our Percy. He's alive and well because of them. Aside from the care, I was also very impressed with the facilities and overall feel of the clinic. Southview is definitely my first recommendation to anyone looking for an animal hospital to care for their pet.

This past weekend I brought both of my sweet boys to Southview for the very first time, after receiving multiple recommendations from friends and family. My older dog usually hates going to the vet which , also makes my puppy nervous about going to the vet. When we got to Southview, my sweet boys did not want to go in, but the staff was so nice and friendly, and so very sweet to both of my boys and I. My older boy, Rufus, does not usually want to leave the room or take treats from the staff. But, he felt so comfortable after getting to know the staff that he left the room to get weighed and even took treats from the staff. The staff is very welcoming, warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. I am happy to say Southview is our new Vet!! Thank you so very much to everyone from Rufas, Chief, and I!!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Dr. Foster and his entire team are amazing and so kind during a very difficult time for us. I can not thank them enough for their compassion through everything. We travel full time in an RV and decided to spend most the summer in the Twin Cities with family. Our dogs were up for their yearly exams, so we set up appointments for them at Southview. They were great with both dogs- one was older and the other is a little wild. This was our first experience with their clinic and it was so positive that when our older dog, Otis, stopped eating a week before we were leaving town we quickly scheduled an urgent care visit with their office. Unfortunately, we learned that our old guy had advanced cancer and his quality of life was quickly deteriorating. They prescribed medication to help with his pain and encourage eating, but we knew he was telling us he was ready. We called and asked about an at home euthanasia for the coming Saturday, which would allow us time to spend some final days with him. They were so nice and worked with us even though Dr. Foster, who does the at home services, was off on Saturdays. From the moment they arrived they were calm and caring, which made an extremely hard process for us a little easier. They talked us through everything that would happen and once our sweet old man had passed they gave us plenty of space and time to grieve him. We opted to use their cremation services, so they took him back to the clinic after. His remains were ready within a week for pick up. Although I never want to go through this process again, I know it is a part of pet ownership and I would feel comfortable using Dr. Foster and his team again.

This is the best clinic I have brought my dog to. Our dog was there for a week following a surgery and we were able to visit everyday while he was recovering. The communication is top notch, we were called with updates everyday or a couple times a day depending on his status. The clinic is great about being upfront with cost, most clinics I've been to won't tell you the cost of services provided and have been surprised at the end of the visit. But at Southview we were told the price before every procedure and service and it is much more affordable than clinics nearby. We worked with several different vets, vet techs, and concierge and had a great experience with everyone. ALSO they found a heart murmur which has been missed by previous vets. I recommend Southview to all my friends and family with pets!

I am so impressed with this vet. They are so caring and efficient and professional! They really do a good job all around in a super clean quiet environment. We got a room for ourselves and everything was taken care of expediently and carefully. They even got me coffee and water and asked me what else they could do for me. No other vet I have been to compares to the professionalism of this clinic. They have a great staff and even though they're in a strip mall in a less fancy part of town they make you feel like you're the only one in the place. My animals get top priority and consideration. And that's why I go there.

Just adopted three hairless Guinea Pigs and set them up as clients at Southview. Dr. Clarkson and the whole team were great and we didn't have to wait. First wellness visit free. Hours are flexible, office clean, large and mindful.

I had a very good experience at Southview. I took my cat there at 8pm after being turned away from two other emergency clinics. The staff were great and had treated each other respectfully - clearly they worked well together as a team. The facility was clean and I spent no time in a waiting room - we were put into a treatment room right away. They saw my cat quickly, no hours-long wait. The vet was very gentle with my cat and they solved my cat's issue without unnecessary procedures. I will bring my pets here again the next time they have an after-hours urgent care need.

One of if not the best clinic I have ever been to. My cat took a sudden turn and all the local vets were on 8 hour waits without guaranteed care. I called and told them what was going on and they set us up with an urgent care appointment for 3 hours and even moved our time up when a cancelation appeared. When we arrived they worked as quickly as possible to see my cat and were very communicative and most importantly they were honest. The staff here is some of the most genuinely compassionate and patient people I've met in the vet practice. I am so grateful they were there for me and my family that night. I highly recommend and if they were closer I would make Southview my primary vet.

This is a good clinic. Good doctors, skilled surgeons and a friendly, efficient staff. They are equipped with all the latest technology and provide emergency care. Because of all this they are very busy. On one occasion, I experienced a delay getting my pup home when expected. I was upset but Dr. Foster took time to call me and rectify the situation in a very satisfying manner. Southview Animal Hospital has earned my highest recommendation.

We brought our sick cat to Southview’s Urgent Care and were pleasantly surprised by how reliable, fast, and friendly the staff were. I was able to sit in a private exam room with my cat and they only took her out for the exam and x-ray. This helped reduce her stress immensely (and mine)! The vet showed me the x-rays and discussed all treatment options and costs with me. Despite being 10pm at night, the vet was friendly and attentive to my concerns. Our experience was so good that we plan to switch our primary vet to Southview.

I am the Director of a local Pit Bull Rescue and Dr. Foster ALWAYS gets our babies in and never says no. The staff is very communicative and they work with us on our budget restraints being we are a non-profit rescue. We have had many of our animals with emergency needs seen here and it was far more reasonable then the other local ER hospitals. I also love that Dr. Foster will reach out to me to help me understand our animals needs and gives me options. We are so thankful for them!!

The people here are very sweet, but personally I found it to be slightly expensive. I had to come in a second time after the first $500 vet appointment did not solve the problem and the second time I came more prepared to advocate for my pet so the problem was found ($270 visit). Overall, I felt as though I was not being fully heard by the vets I was working with. I still am happy with their kindness and understanding and flexibility, if you need to get your pet in quick they’ll get you in but I will most likely not be returning. EDIT: I was given a call by the director, Jay, and he talked through my experience with me and offered a solution to one of my problems. It was very considerate of him to call and appreciate their willingness for feedback!

We used to live in the cities and went to Southview and they were great. We’ve moved away and have a great local vet but we were in the cities and our puppy needed urgent care because he got something in his eye. Southview got us in within hours and they were great and took care of our puppy. Professional, kind, and competent. Highly recommend them for regular and urgent care vet services!

I have been going to Southview Animal Hospital for the past year and a half for all my two girls needs. My Lexi was was misdiagnosed and I knew something was not right with her when she was seen by another veterinarian. I took her to Southview Hospital and she was thoroughly examined and tested and found to have bladder cancer. She was started on pain meds right away and referred to the U of M Veterinary Hospital. Because of the wonderful team at Southview I know both of my girls get the best care. The staff is great! The doctors are wonderful. I can’t say enough about the wonderful care they receive every time we have an appointment!

We've loved that this animal hospital has an emergency option. it is an extra fee (understandably) but is truly a lifesaver. They've helped our cat several times when he has had a sudden and intense cystitis flare up. In terms of preventative care and record-keeping, however, we have been pretty disappointed. Every time we bring our two cats in we get asked by the tech if they're spayed/neutered, what medications they're on, etc. They're typing on the computer so it's clear they are updating the pet's records, but there is no change in spay/neuter status, obviously, and when I have struggled to remember all the medication they've read them all off to me. It seems like they just don't even look at records. We've reported address changes, etc. and often have to ask a couple times before those get updated. I had one vet tell me she wasn't going to bother to update our kitten's weight in her chart, but she was sick when I brought her in, and when her condition worsened and I brought her in a couple days later, the vet observed that her weight loss had been more drastic than reality due to the not updated information. One vet I saw told me that my kitten would need a booster and that they would follow up with me in 3-4 weeks to set that up. I never heard from them. I absolutely try to advocate for my pets, but it's concerning that we have had so many inconsistencies with pet records even if we make requests, etc. The issues have been adding up and are really contributing to my lack of confidence in this animal hospital for regular pet care.

I had to get help for my cat who was having severe seizures. I contacted several places & finally was directed to Southview animal hospital. They couldn't have been more wonderful. They got me in immediately, had compassion, & knew what had to be done. They had the meds right there & the prices were reasonable. They are not only emergency care but also a full service vet clinic. I am thrilled I found them & my cat is doing great, thanks to them. I'm very thankful I found them.

I recently took my miniature poodle in for shots and a check up. I have used this hospital before and have always found the kind, knowledgeable, and ready to answer any questions. They even called the next day to see how my dog was doing after the shots and gave me helpful information. Good job! We will be back!

My parents began bringing our pets here in the early 90s. Our family has been going to Southview Animal Hospital for decades. I love the new building, all staff is kind and respectful. I had been a Vet Tech for several years, and even when working other places, I would bring my pets here. They are responsive with urgent and emergency care, and for just every day aspects, like vaccines. They better stick around for the next 40+ - I want to always bring my fur babies here!

I want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Dr. Foster and the clinic staff that assisted me with Bonnie and Clyde today. Needless to say, we are very grateful for their hospital services for saving Bonnie's life at the beginning of the year. Today was the first regular appointment with Southview Animal Hospital. Each appointment was scheduled for a half hour. We were there for almost 2 hours. Throughout the whole time we were there, Dr. Foster popped in time to time. Besides the regular check up and vaccines, Dr. Foster and the other staff listened to our other concerns and set treatment plans for the "other" issues Bonnie and Clyde have. Dr. Foster, unlike other Veterinarians and clinics, is very patient, sincere and never once made us feel like a burden to him or his staff. When it was time to pay the bill, Dr. Foster came in and suggested we can try a generic cheaper medicine we can try for Bonnie than the brand name, and helped us save $130! Both Bonnie and Clyde walked into the clinic happy and wagging their tales, throughout the 2 hours and when leaving. This is the 4th place Bonnie and Clyde have been in 7 yrs and this is the most comfortable relaxing place they have been to. Southview Animal Hospital is the only place they will forever receive care from now on. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!

I recently took Casey, our recent Across America Boxer Rescue family member to Southview Animal Hospital to establish primary care. We have not been there since 2018 with our last boxer. I loved the beautiful new digs and am happy to say that the staff, techs, and Drs are all still amazingly nice, helpful, and loving to our pet. Dr Foster was amazing and we so enjoyed seeing him. I feel so lucky to be able to use Southview, and to their loving care keeping our Casey healthy!

Incredible and friendly staff. Urgent care folks were extremely quick and took care of both myself and my dog during an extremely stressful incident with my dogs health. I'm immensely grateful for how gentle and thorough they were; answered every question I had-- even drew out diagrams and broke down the physiology of my dog's heart so that I could understand what was happening with him.

I will only bring my pets here. I have bunnies and guinea pig and a dog, every single time I go they are so informative and deal with my million questions. I brought my bun here for an emergency visit and they took care of her right away and made sure I knew what was going on. If you have rabbits this is the safest place for them. AMAZING people, all of them. <3

What am incredibly good experience we had! Starting with an emergency tooth infection treated on a Sunday and ending with oral surgery 5 days later - the entire process was great. The staff in the clinic are friendly and professional. The tech and veterinary staff were straight to the point, efficient and respectful.

The waiting room had comfortable seating options and refreshments. I was able to keep my dog hydrated and calm in the waiting room. The exam room also had a cushioned seating block, which my dog and I liked sitting on together. The vet I saw was friendly. She thoroughly detailed all of the treatment options for my dog, gave price estimates to help me decide, and helped me weigh the pros and cons of invasiveness and effectiveness which factored into my decisions. The prices were on the low end compared to other animal hospitals. Overall, I felt that comfort and quality of care were top priority at Southview. I appreciated having options, and being able to move forward knowing what to do for my dog.

They were very compassionate and caring when we had to make the worst decision for our beautiful and loving fur baby. He had been in our lives for 13 years and was full of tumors. They gave us a private room to be with him until the end. Our hearts were still broken but I thank them for thoughtfulness.

The staff was truly amazing. My pet became paralyzed and was in severe pain. The 1st night they walked us through what was happening and were very gentle and kind to our pup. The 2nd night, we had to make a very tough decision to put our dog down. The doctor was absolutely amazing. They made his passing more bearable. They comforted and were super gentle during the process. The best part about the euthanasia process was that they give the dog a sedative before they put the catheder in, making the pet less stressed. Truly amazing staff. Made me want to switch my other dogs vet provider.

Our regular, long-time vet was closed today and I had no idea what to do when I had an issue with my pet's medication, so I called the ER vets we have used in the past to see what they thought. All of them recommended Southview as an urgent care option to save on the cost of an ER visit. So I called Southview, and they were able to make space for us to come in right away. I was late to the time they scheduled because of car trouble, and even with that, when I finally made it, they got us in immediately, and everyone was really wonderful. I really liked the calm environment and private, quiet spaces they provide, especially since seeing the vet can be stressful. Today was a nightmare, and they were able to make it just a little bit better for us. No one needs an animal hospital on a good day, so I hope we never need to come back, but we appreciate you being there if we do - thanks Southview!

Was good cuz they got my kitty in there quick like the same day. Did have to pay alot to get him taken care of but was able to get care credit for pets and that helped with a huge chunk of the bill. Was concerned about one tech that checked me out. I was upset cuz she didn't explain anything and I was lost. So the next morning I called in and was able to talk to the director and another tech who helped explain what needed to be done next. I'm no vet. I'm a home organizer. So far from the training and originally felt helpless. But the 2nd trip was helpful. The vet was great and kind. Again, was more of a training issue I guess. The rest of the staff was pleasant. Have my cat rebooked for another check up. Will need to pay my care credit down a bit B4 then but that did help out when in an emergency! Thanks to the team there at Southview!

Words cannot ever express the amount of care, time, efficiency these veterinarians have to offer. I have a special needs cat and I do not trust her and any other hands but theirs. I live 53 minutes away and pass by 20 veterinarians to get to them because I know that their services and their hearts are always exactly what I need. They have sat with me while I have cried, they have sat with me when I have been ecstatic with joy. Not only do they treat the pets but they also support the emotional side of the pet owners. Chloe is absolutely at peace, purring, relaxed when she is at their office and she gets excited when the veterinarians walk in. I can't say that for the other offices we have had to use. We are a committed customer to this office. They are absolutely the best in our minds and in our hearts. To the team of Southview Animal Hospital, I say this was tears in my eyes because I mean it so much from my heart, thank you for all you have done for me and my family.

Came in with our kitty in July. She was way worse than we thought and throughout her stay the staff was so great and understanding. She crossed the rainbow bridge 07-02-18. We got a card in the mail a bit after, it was signed by everyone at the hospital. It really helped since we had never experienced something like this before. I really wish I had the card (we’re moving and packed up most of her altar stuff). I really recommend coming here. It does get busy and loud but it’s expected, the staff is amazing and you can tell they love what they do. Thank you for doing your best with Jinx guys. We really appreciated everything you did for us.

My two dogs had gotten into a tussle with some puncture marks. I called all over town (on a Monday morning)- the wait times were at least 4 hours in person, and I could not get an appointment at my regular vet. Southview was able to get me scheduled for both dogs that evening, without a 4+ hour wait in person! When I arrived, all of the staff were thorough yet efficient. The vet provided very detailed information on the medications, and answered all of my questions. The urgent care prices were reasonable and in fact on the lower end of the urgent care fees I had been told about at the other facilities I called. It was really a great experience and I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

Had to get my senior cat in quickly because was not eating or drinking and throwing up white foam. Was able to get an emergency appointment later in the day , and she was taken in immediately. After a quick physical exam, Dr Steffes explained options for targeting the problem, I picked a very thorough option, was given written details and pricing. My cat was taken immediately for tests and X-rays, and the staff was very caring and gentle for this traumatized senior. After the diagnosis, I received info about her overall health and the treatment we needed to start. Both the Dr and the techs were excellent with her, and even clipped her nails when I asked and shaved some long fur that had matted. I. Was very impressed with the people, their professionalism and with the ease of taking care of my cat. I would recommend Southview to anyone.

I went in on an emergency basis for my cat and I was shocked at how little it ended up costing, considering it was emergency and with an overnight stay. I really appreciated the extensive breakdown in cost upfront. I felt confident in the veterinarians thought process and decisions, knowing they were necessary and not just to squeeze me out of money.

They laid out our options and gave us time to consider. Love this Vet. I have a very old cat who is in surprisingly good health so I am a little over protective of him and my level of concern is pretty high. My ball python had gotten a respiratory infection and they were very fast about getting her in for urgent care, the diagnosis and everything didn't take long at all. I was only in there for about an hour which is way less than most of my hospital visits. The prices were pretty decent compared to other places. I paid a little extra due to the fact I had to take her in for urgent care. The antibiotics they prescribed her didn't add to the bill much at all. I paid about $130. They didn't empty my wallet and I got the care my pet needed. I'd gladly come again if need be.

This place is incredible. I needed to get my chinchillas in last minute, called about 10 places in town, and they were able to squeeze me in the next morning after everyone else had said no. They were very kind and communicative, both over the phone, e-mail, and in person. When I got there they got me into a room quickly, and the vet arrived shortly after. Dr. Godinez was kind, warm, listened to my concerns and got us helped out and turned around quickly. This is a very nice animal hospital. It's not the typical anticeptic environment. It's also very big and they do more complicated procedures that many vets don't have the technology for. I can't rate the care because my dog was only there for a day for a procedure. But I think they handled her well. The only drawback was that they were very busy. It took 1-1/2 hours after they said she would be ready to go just to pick up my dog. Otherwise it was a great experience.

My dog was bit by another dog earlier in the day. I had a friend who'd used Southview for an emergency with her cat and spoke highly of them. I called and they were able to see my dog within the hour. They were very friendly, the lobby is welcoming which helped my dog who is anxious at the vet's office usually but she wasn't at Southview which I think was due to the open space and furnishings as well as the staff. The treatment was fast, everything was explained , medication was quickly available. This was especially appreciated as it was also snowing and the roads were not good. Nice new building and staff is nice and doctors are nice. Only negative I would say is if you have more than 1 pet and are having routine checkups, it definitely breaks the bank. Definitely want to save up for taking your pets here for anything, unless you have pet insurance. Overall still decent. When it's gotta be done it's gotta be done. Make sure you ask the amounts for services being done, or being recommended because I was shocked when I went to pay my bill and was 5× more than what I thought it would be.

I took my 11.5yr old Female Yellow Lab in for emergency vet visit she was experiencing bloating in her stomach, along with diarrhea, lack of appetite, and not just the same dog we knew for 11 years. They were very responsive the minute i came through the door, the staff was very professional and you could definitely feel from their compassion that they really care about the well being of the animals. As soon as i explained our situation they immediately were able to get us into an exam room, the vet tech was very kind and caring and went through a the issues we were experiencing in-depth and asked many questions to get a clear idea of what was gong on. Once she was done, she took our girl back to get a weight and touch base with the vet. When she came back to room she told me the vet gal would be which she was immediately to discuss what she had saw when she weighed in our dog, she did a quick ultrasound and found her abdomen was filled with blood which was confirmed by drawing out some blood with a syringe. She gave me the diagnosis, which was heart breaking, she was very through in what our options would be and was extremely kind and caring and very compassionate to our sadness of the news. We are very glad that we went to Southview Animal Hospital Emergency Care because we were beside ourselves about what might be going on with our loved lab, they gave us a sense of peace knowing what was happening with out lab’s health and what the next steps were. I would definitely recommend Southview Animal Hospital for Veternary care and especially for Emergency Care. A++

Able to see me within 3 hours of my call. There was an excessive amount of waiting, but I can't imagine how busy they are. The lab work was done very quickly it was more waiting for the vet to come in originally and then to come back with lab results. Price is debatable depending on what you think is expensive. We had the visit, labs and urine done and it was just over 400 dollars. I did have to take her to another emergency vet because my dog is very sick and Southview only has a vet until midnight. They did offer as an option for her to stay overnight and they have a tech on that would give meds and watch her but for us the better option was to go where there was a dr on all night due to the severity of her condition. Everyone was pretty nice and they seemed to be gentle with my little girl.

He and his team set the standard for quality, compassionate pet care, while also delivering the lost art of real customer service, communication and execution of services, for both the pets and their owners. Unlike the new norm of corporate owned clinics who have lost their way as far as setting priorities and their approach to care, and dealing with pet owners, especially during very emotionally driven circumstances, Southview has not lost their way. Southview is locally owned and operated, with leadership and a team who go out of their way to provide an over the top amazing unparalleled experience for both the pets and their owners. I have spent large sums of money on advanced treatments including chemo and radiation, CT scans and much more, and am super familiar with the typical three go to high level care / emergency options in the Twin Cities. When I recently found out my 12 year old female rescue Pit Mix had a large mass on her liver, and also had other issues, she required a high level of care my regular vet and almost all other vets in town simply could not provide. The three typical high level care providers in the Twin Cities all had either long lead times to be able to see my beloved pet, or presented reasons that made me very uncomfortable, (I am very experienced and have spent a fortune in the high level pet care arena) in engaging them. I was super fortunate through a referral to find out about Southview Animal Hospital. (Best kept animal hospital secret in town). Shortly after my inquiry and sending of records, Dr. Mahan and Dr. Foster were reaching out to help. They reached out during and well after business hours to speak with me and see how they could help. We had many discussions, with amazing fast call backs from the Southview team. (No one does this anymore). Dr. Foster and Dr. Mahan helped put together an expedited plan to perform CT imaging, (They are one of the few clinics in the Twin Cities with CT scanning capabilities), and blood work to determine the next level of treatment for my dog. We also needed blood in the event of any bleeding issues due to the nature of the surgery, which Dr. Foster was able to facilitate. Dr. Foster then scheduled surgery after reviewing all of the lab work and CT imaging, with Dr. Rose, who Dr. Foster assured me was an amazing board certified surgeon, and the person he would trust if it was his dog. Less than two hours ago, I was informed by Dr. Rose that the surgery went very well, and they were able to remove the softball size mass, and that my dog was in recovery and should be able to come home later tomorrow. I can't begin to express my gratitude to Dr. foster and his team for the incredible and fast level of service and comfort they provided. Knowing this amazing facility is open seven days a week, specializes in treating dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and more, has many advanced treatment and diagnostic capabilities, a staff of 14 vets, a large awesome support staff, and most important, a can do attitude and level of caring for both the pet and the pet owner that is unmatched. I wish I could give a review of ten stars. This new found gem of a animal care facility is truly awesome, and encourage anyone especially in need of high level or emergency services to make Southview animal Hospital their first choice. Had to bring my cat in after hours recently because he was throwing up and not eating. They were able to get us in quickly and began examining him immediately. Dr Tabor came in and explained the x-rays to me and my husband, and gave us options and explained both options to us in a way that was helpful. Our elderly cat had an emergency at 10pm the night before Thanksgiving and I had called 4 other places that could not take him. Southview was able to get him in, and I was so grateful. We knew the situation was not looking good and he most likely would not be coming home, so our whole family climbed in the car with lots of tears. When we got there, the whole staff was extremely caring and so kind. In the end, euthanasia was the only real option. The staff gave us as much time as we needed and explained everything. They allowed us to pet him and love him until the end. They even made us a clay paw print to take home. I have been dreading this day and I never wanted it to come, but Southview made it the best possible scenario that it could be under the circumstances, and I highly recommend their emergency services.

Southview animal hospital on Robert St, st Paul has been the absolute sweetest, kindest, most caring animal hospital I have ever been to. When I initially called them months ago, desperately seeking help for my sick little guy, I got shut down by what felt like every vet in the twin cities, until I found Southview. They said, you know what, bring him in tomorrow and we will exam him. This was amazing news as every vet has been booked out for months in advance. I brought him in the next day, and he was quickly diagnosed with a type of cancer that is very common in older ferrets. They promptly gave me lots of sympathy and immediately prescribed my little guy with medication to keep him comfortable and to prolong his life as long as possible. I noticed he got worse, and called them one day and they said "we will examine him TODAY, no charge." They did all they could, as there isn't much you can do for a gravely ill small animal like my Meeko who was given a terminal diagnosis. They were quick to respond to me anytime I reached out and always welcomed us with open arms. Sadly, fast forward 4 months and my little guy passed peacefully in his sleep just before I was going to schedule his "final" appointment no pet owner wants to schedule.. I promptly called them the minute he passed and they said "come in tonight, we will help you make cremation arrangements for him" and they were very sympathetic. They gave me the sweetest Momentos for him. An ink paw print, a shadow box paw print, a tuft of his fur. He passed only last weekend. Today I checked my mailbox and saw that they handwrote a sympathy card which was signed by the entirety of the vet staff, and it brought tears to my eyes. This is hands down the greatest vet clinic and Meeko and I were so thankful and blessed to have found them when we did. Every pet owner dreads the time where they have to say goodbye to their beloved furry friend, but Southview truly made the entire experience so much more comfortable and smooth as I transition into life without him. I wish there was a way I could properly thank them for all the good they have done for us. I will continue to recommend this vet clinic to any and all pet owners I know. Thank you so much for ALL you have done for our family. 💜 I'd give 10 stars if it were possible.

Other clinics have denied me in an emergency but Southview was there as I needed them. The doctors and staff are extremely friendly and understanding. They cover every basis before giving you information and a plan for the future to make sure your pet is in the best health. The facility is also really nice. I was a little tight on the financial side and they were very accommodating; giving me many options in order to give the best care for my little fur baby. There isn't another clinic that I would even consider seeing my puppy.

I have been using this clinic for over 20 years. Their vets are always very caring, listen to your concerns and treat your pets as if they were their own. The rest of the staff is also very helpful and responsive. Across the multiple vets they have many specialties, so almost all health concerns can be handled in their own office. Dr. Foster runs a great clinic, and Dr. Godinez, Dr. Mahan and Dr. Steffes took great care of my previous kitties from the time they were kittens until they had to be euthanized at the ages of 16 and 18. I just adopted two new cats so of course I chose Southview as the clinic for all of their care. Update - My two cats just went in for their first annual wellness checks and vaccine boosters. Within minutes of checking in, the office staff had us in a freshly cleaned exam room. The Veterinary Assistants that first stopped in to get our details and weights and temperatures on my cats were very friendly. Dr Foster was the vet that did the exams and gave the shots. As always he was great with my cats (they didn't even notice the injections) and he addressed one of my concerns very thoroughly. Thank you Southview Animal Hospital!

Southview Animal Hospital has been there countless times for me, in the 15 years I have been going to them, with multiple pets. They helped my cat when she had an emergency and could have died. Helped my old pup when he had cancer twice. They make sure you're comfortable and your pet is comfortable. They send you appt reminders and call you after appts to make sure your pet is doing well. I wish I could give them 10 stars. I LOVE Southview Animal Hospital!!

This is not our primary vet clinic, though it has many features we wish ours had. The extended hours and urgent care offerings are a godsend, and have saved us and our animals a lot of headache, hassle, and cost on several occasions. On our most recent visit, we were surprised and delighted to see that normal operations have returned! No mask required, and more than one human is permitted to attend your animal's vet visit. All questions were answered, as well as a telephone follow-up for a couple things. All in all, we could not ask for better care for our four legged creatures!

This is hands down the best vet clinic in the state of Minnesota, possibly the midwest. I would give them 10 stars if I was able too.. Their staff is extremely welcoming and the facility is top notch. My dog had surgery with post complications this summer, they never gave up on her and were so comforting for me and my wife through the whole ordeal. They got our dog back on her feet just in time for our wedding in the fall! I am so happy that I switched to this vet clinic and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing veterinary care.

The staff is so friendly and helpful!! I feel like their services are priced well (sometimes expensive but of course surgery for dogs won't be cheap). The only downside is sometimes there's a decent wait to be seen by a doctor or tech for our appointment. But as soon as the person arrives, they're willing to spend as much time and attention as needed to make sure our dog gets the care she needs and we have a chance to ask all of our questions. It's definitely worth it and there's a good reason they're so busy, this place is wonderful! Their current location has SO much more parking than their previous location, too, which is wonderful. The waiting room is very spacious and there are plastic dividers at each check in area. There are more than a dozen small rooms where they see the animals so there isn't much time spent in the common area anyways. The staff always wear masks. I can't recommend Southvoew enough!!

The Staff were excellent. I had called around for pricing to have my beloved family dog euthenized and had to be done as soon as possible because he was suffering with Cancer and went down hill just overnight. You would swear that you were dealing with a human when it comes to cost when calling for pricing to have your pet euthenized and cremation. Southview not only was the cheapest but we're able to do it for me as soon as I could get there with my pet. The folks I had on one of the worst days were understanding and gave me the time I needed to get my composure enough to drive home. I truly appreciate how they treated not only my pet but me also.

The price may be a little higher than other veterinarians offices but that dollar is worth everything in return. I am so glad Southview Animal Hospital is still in our neighborhood. I went to Southview long ago when an older vet ran the hospital. I depended on him and his small staff, but he he sold the business and retired. The hospital went to a new vet and his staff several years ago. Their staff grew and I realized they were just as knowledgeable, just as dependable, and just as friendly. They are always there for you. The Hospital moved to a new location a few blocks from the old one, with lots of room and lots of care. I feel blessed that we have this Animal Hospital with great vets, especially Dr. Foster, and great staff that never let us down. Thank you!

EDIT - The owner reached out to me and was compelling enough to cause me to want to alter my original post. After discussion with him, I will limit my complaint to a particular vet who I had a difficult time coordinating with and communicating with and this resulted in a poor experience where my pet received correct medication but in a form that was not desired. The one other issue worth noting is that there seems to be an issue with getting prescriptions to your most convenient pharmacy. This can be problematic for those of us who are willing to travel to Southview to have our animals checked or diagnosed but wish to purchase their medication locally. I happen to fall into that camp. Other issues previously mentioned could certainly be identified as me mis-reading signals as they struggle to keep up with demand.

Highly recommended! I called them and arrived around 11:40 pm as my hamster Cheddar's cheek seemed to be bleeding. I was very grateful that they had an exotic vet who can see him right away late at night. Everyone was super friendly and it was a pleasant experience for me to be there. (Cheddar is not a happy camper since he is on meds for 2 weeks!) They sent out followup texts and emails to make sure he is doing okay, which was really sweet.

I was able to get an urgent care appointment right away for our puppy who was in distress. They got us in and the doctor came in right away and took her back for x-rays. Thankfully she did not have an intestinal blockage. She does have colitis and she was given sub-q fluids and a shot to help with the intestinal pain. They had metronidazole on hand and we were on our way home in just over an hour. Everyone was so nice and adored our puppy. She is on the mend and we now have an option other than the Emergency Room as they are open 7 days a week and until Midnight on weekdays.

Dr Lee and the staff were so accommodating and got me in to be seen as soon as I arrived. It was urgent care and so when called, they took the time to find out what my dogs symptoms were and they checked with the actual Dr before asking me to bring my dog in immediately. The Dr did the exam and sent is home with some meds but not only did get meds, and a sense of relief, we also go to leave there with a new primary vet for my German Shepherd, Kya, because she did a great job and Kya bonded with her instantly. She's one of those people that truly cares about the animals that are in her care and I believe animals are naturally comfortable around her because they can sense that.

People who complain about prices here need to realize this is a huge clinic with lots of vets and vet techs, front end employees etc. Their hours are more convenient and they are alot more accessible than most clinics. So there has to be enough staffing to make this happen for clients. I appreciate the service I've gotten here. Staff are prompt and organized. There's going to be some usual wait times due to the increased pet ownership/ adoption from COVID. Dr. Foster staffs his clinic sufficiently and runs a tight ship. Our vet we saw twice so far for urgent care services, Dr. Anderson, is kind and detail oriented. She even remembered us at the 2nd appointment. My only disappointment is in myself for not living closer to this clinic. I would definitely make this my primary clinic if I lived in the area.

Found this location close by with great reviews. I have a very anxious 100 pound German shepherd who can come off as very intimidating . I have been using the same veterinary clinic for as long as I can remember, but due to an emergency with my dog during late hours I called Southview animal hospital to help save my dog and they did just that! Even at midnight they were carrying and accommodating. Right at the initial drop off they made me feel comfortable leaving my dog as I couldn't come in due to the covid-19 pandemic. Their communication was awesome, they made sure I knew all of the pricing for all of the procedures that they planned on doing and because of their compassionate expertise my 11 year old Dachshund is now home recovering from a bowel obstruction. Since making this move, we have never encountered an issue with our dogs being seen for any type of medical issue. I can’t say enough about this wonderful place. My dog had an emergency on Fourth of July weekend and no emergency vets would see him without a 4-6 hour wait. I called Southview and they said to bring him in right away. From the office staff, to the vet techs, to the veterinarian, everyone was so caring and knowledgeable. They were extremely busy, but took care of my dog pretty quickly. Their prices were very similar to my other emergency vet. They had good policies in place for COVID-19 and were the only vet to allow me to go in with my dog. They also called to check on him two days later. Absolutely amazing! We had our 136-lb. Great Pyrenees dog, Lady, groomed at Southview Animal Hospital and we highly recommend them for all pet owners. Lady has never looked or felt better (she’s happy and full of energy since her grooming). The groomer, Jessica, bathed, brushed, combed and trimmed Lady’s fur in addition to trimming her toenails (and extra dewclaws), cleaning her ears, brushing her teeth and giving her a “sanitary” trim. Lady was tired upon her return (it was a lot to go through), but fine the next day. Jessica did an excellent job and charged much less than our previous groomer. The cost varies from dog to dog, of course, but it was reasonable and a discount was given to us for being clients of Southview. I’m so pleased that Lady looks gorgeous and is happy, healthy and clean.

Their curbside service works like clockwork with plenty of numbered parking slots right in front of the building. The new groomer, Amber, is wonderful and skilled with a calm and pleasant personality that both my dog and I appreciate. Few people can get my terrier to cooperate but Amber does and I truly admire that. I am glad to have such a competent clinic close to home.

Kinda torn to make this review because I know Southview offers great things for people and does awesome things. I work for a vet clinic that gets referrals from Southview A LOT and my dog was limping on a front limb this past weekend. I called about urgent care hours and was put off by Dena's unprofessionalism on the phone. It sounded like she laughed at when I was explaining what was going on. She told me they were too busy right then when I inquired about wait times. I called back some hours later and got her on the phone again, asked about wait times and was told new doctor was taking over at 12am. There would be a new exam charge and I would need to call back. She did however offer to make an appt for me the next day, I declined. It wasn't an emergency but I wanted rads on my dog and not fond of my near-by BP. Thankfully there was great improvement in the AM with rest and anti-inflammatory medicine. It was just disappointing coming from one professional to another. I wanted to give my business to Southview - a business I knew I could trust.

I brought our boy Chance here a few months ago when it became clear he was not going to bounce back. He had lost about 20 pounds in a week or so and had blood coming out of both ends. We knew it was time. While we couldn't afford a private cremation, we were still treated with compassion. The doctor gave me time to consider what little options we had and let me take my time saying goodbye when everything was done. They even sent a condolence card signed by all the staff. I left off one star because the lobby is very small and crowded with products, which made it hard to navigate with a scared pup. It was also crowded with people, though, which is good because it means good business, which great a place like this deserves. When the time comes to get another dog, this place will definitely be our vet.

WOW. We took our puppy there for the first time and I was blown away by this place. I recently brought my newest foster dog in for several health concerns. Not only was the staff amazing with our nervous rescue, but they did a wonderful job of communicating with us too! For instance, the veterinarians and techs got down on the floor with our hound, and used low stress handling strategies, examining him at his level of comfort and not rushing things. Several tests were needed to determine his course of care, and the veterinarians and techs explained every step of the process and the line of reasoning behind the testing--including the differential diagnoses and rule outs. I also deeply appreciate their understanding and pragmatism when deciding which tests to run on a rescue budget! When we had to go back a few days later, our concerns were taken seriously and he was admitted quickly. During his admission, the veterinarians were never too busy to take our phone calls and provide us with updates and information. He is now comfortable and recovering with the help of this great team. Overall the care is good, however, we have noticed mistakes with our appointments for our puppy, twice. Our puppy has been on antibiotic for a few weeks and she had an appointment scheduled today. When we had scheduled today’s appointment a month ago, it was to be for a booster shot and a follow up on her medicine/skin condition. When we went in today, she was only seen for the booster shot and would be charged for urgent care for the follow-up. We decided to decline the urgent care addition. We are frustrated that this isn’t the first time we have been scheduled for an appointment and not getting the service that was discussed with the vet and clerks when we made the initial schedule.

This week my 10yr old blue pitbull tore her ACL! I called literally 35 vet offices to figure out how to take care of this. I found 1 office to do the initial exam but was told they couldnt do the actual surgery until June ! So I called even more places and came across Southview. Wow! I'm so happy I did. They told me to come in in 2 weeks for the surgery which I was ok with. But then Dr foster called me and said they had a sooner date available. I was even happier. THEN at about 7pm the same night he called and he asked if I could bring her in the next morning to do it. I was elated! I probably called the front desk 20 times asking questions and emailed with them. They were nice and knowledgeable on the phone and over email too, very communicative . So I brought her in at 8am for drop off. Went in with her and was told I would meet with Dr Lee. Not gonna lie I read the reviews and wasnt thrilled. BUT I was pleasantly surprised. She was great ! And I voiced my concerns about 1 medication I wasnt comfortable with my pup taking and she found an alternative and didnt make me feel judged. She took my dog back and I went home. The surgeon called me before and right after surgery to keep me in the know. Later that night I picked my dog up and Gabby was there. Shes wonderful. So helpful, good attitude, so nice she even came out and helped me get my dog in the car when I couldnt do it alone. I'm so happy I found this clinic. I definatly recommend going here and will definitely be back to see Dr Lee, Dr foster , and Gabby. Thanks guys !

Our beagle recently started acting out. I thought it was behavioral but the vet indicated we should rule out medical. After some tests, it was recommended that we see an internist at the U. We did and after listening to his symptoms, the doctor recommended a blood test. A few days later she confirmed it was Cushings Disease. We've been going to Southview for six years and always feel our dog is in the best hands. All the doctors are gentle and thorough, the technicians are compassionate and the office staff is most accommodating. We recommend it.

I came from a lakeville vet to here and the difference was amazing. They actually had the equipment to do the job (ultrasound) they had the staff on hand in case we needed to do surgery, and they loved my dog as if it was their own fur child. The doctor took the time to discuss everything and answer every question. She was credible and confident and made me really feel like we had control of a somewhat uncontrollable situation (potential foreign body and blockage). When my wife called initially the doctor hopped on to answer her questions.... unheard of prior to an appointment at any other clinic. They were more affordable than the other clinics we were referred to for surgery. All around amazing experience.... the new building and parking will match the experience 10/10 would recommend.

The experiences I continue to have with Southview are fabulous! I have been there for visits working with a rescue organization and for myself with my family pets. My most recent experience, even during COVID, was flawless. When we showed up with an accidental litter of 14 baby pet rats they were ready to support us! A few weeks later the staff went above and beyond caring for our male rat, during and after his neutering, even fitting him with his own tiny “cone of shame” so he wouldn’t bother his stitches. They really listen and they provide exceptional services. Your pet deserves their top quality care because it is, without a doubt, the very best!

This review is solely about the desk workers, not the medical staff. After our dog got discharged, the paperwork they gave us doesn't reflect correct name's or addresses for either my wife or myself. We need these documents corrected for legal reasons. Every time I request the information to be updated, I receive an email with the wrong information again. Very annoying! Implement guidelines for desk workers. Medical staff is amazing! UPDATE: I received a call from Dr. Foster who was very concerned about my issue and took care of it within 15 minutes. I have brought my different birds to see Dr. Foster for 20+ years. He is very knowledgeable. Last week I brought 1 of our dogs in, she is usually terrified of going to/ being at the vet. This day she was scared but did very well with the staff. They treated her infected anal gland and gave her meds. She's doing great. This is a very nice and professional veterinary clinic and urgent care. This is also one of only two clinics in the metro, to my knowledge, that also works with reptiles. I needed to bring my leopard gecko into their after-hours urgent care, and everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. An animal like a gecko may not be as common or charismatic as a dog or a cat, but everyone took great care and concern for his wellbeing. The vet even prescribed pain medication (in teeny-tiny gecko-sized doses), which is not something I think most people would consider for a reptile, and it makes such a difference. On top of that, for all this great care, the fees were extremely reasonable. I thoroughly recommend this clinic, especially if you need care for an exotic or uncommon species. Customer service is SUPERB! I couldn't be happier with that team! I just started working with Dr. Ford and really am SOO happy with her! She takes her time answering all my questions, and uses layman's terms so I understand. I appreciate that. Just one not so great experience which is why I gave the 4 stars...I'm a customer who appreciates over communication, and it was missed. I've been going here for a few years now with my two dogs, since we moved in the area. We brought them in about 2 weeks ago for their wellness visit and learned that one of our dogs needed to have a tooth pulled, other than that she was all healthy, and our other pup checked out as healthy. They gave us an estimate for the tooth being pulled, which was $600. I thought that seemed a bit expensive as I remember my previous vet had to pull 2 teeth from our other dog and the cost was $400. However, i figured she has to get it done, and got it scheduled. A week later I noticed my "healthy" dog have some blood in her urine, brought her in and found out she has a stone in her bladder, and an infection, but waiting on results to come back. (Another $500ish visit). Ultimately, she will need to have surgery to have the stone removed, another $1500. So I decided that maybe I should look for somewhere else to have my first dog's tooth removed since that was all that was being done to try and save some money. I called around and got some estimates that were around the $300-$400 price range. I spoke to one of the wonderful customer service ladies at Southview, and they helped me go over the estimate from them line by line to be sure I was doing an apples to apples comparison. Which i found out there was a tooth cleaning on the estimate from Southview that I wasn't aware of being done in the procedure, and is where the price difference lies. I wish the vet would have taken more time to explain the procedure. A customer service tip i would give Southview is, have the vets ask the client if they'd like to review the estimate together, even if it is over phone call so everyone is on the same page. Other than that OUTSTANDING! Love the new facility!

Southview Animal Hospital has worked with our dogs for years. Having Labs, our dogs occasionally experience issues, as we have been most happy with the experience, expertise, and just the "caring" attitude we get when we work with the staff there. 15JUN2020: I have been in contact with the owner and he was able to resolve all of the issues that I had with his company's service. I am willing to caulk up the issues I had as unavoidable human error and the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic. I am willing to alter my rating to 5 stars with the caveat that they are quick to resolve errors if and when they happen. Based on this and other reviews, I would (and will) take my dog back to this hospital. EDIT: The owner of the company called within 5 minutes of leaving the below original review. He is willing to work with me to make things right. We understand that the pandemic causes overwork and mistakes and are thankful when those mistakes are looked into and corrected when warranted. I will continue to update this review as needed. ORIGINAL: I took my dog to this hospital several days ago. I understand that during this pandemic there is going to be curbside service. However, the word service is a bit of a misnomer. When the triage technician came to pick up my dog I explained several issues I would like to have look into. Not only did the vet not mention anything about these areas (four sores on my dog's back), but they didn't even provide any information about basic vitals such as height and weight. I am not sure why there are so many good reviews. I will never bring my dog back to this hospital.

I have always brought my dog to Banfield in Eagan, but wanted a vet that was closer to my home in WSP. I called this vet at 6am when they weren't open yet. A doctor answered and I could tell I woke her up (she must have been on call), and I felt bad. She was very sweet and answered my questions and told me to call and make an appt for my dog once their office opened. I called at 7am when they opened and even though they had a full scheduled, they double-booked me to get my sick dog seen. This is/was during the Covid-19 pandemic, so it was drive-up service only - no people allowed in the building. You pull up and call them, they come out and get your animal, you stay parked waiting, and the doctor calls you. It was very slick, and I didn't wait long at all. I spoke with Dr. Kelm and Dr. LaMotte - both were so reassuring and so professional. They broke down pricing for me when my dog needed to be admitted to the hospital, and recommended a couple different options for her, both with pricing differences. They called me with updates when she was admitted for almost 2 days, which calmed my anxieties about her being in the hospital. Pickup was efficient - I parked, called them and told them which parking spot I was in, the vet tech explained the medications she was discharged with, took payment over the phone, and brought her out to me. I have received 2 phone calls since discharge to see how she's doing. They were extremely helpful with the medication questions I had. I love this vet and how they handled my dog's vomiting and diarrhea. They were respectful, professional, and both Dr LaMotte and Dr Kelm were extremely empathetic when I spoke with them on the phone. Great service, great vet, and I will be recommending this vet to everyone I know with a pet. Thank you so much Southview Animal Hospital!

I've had 3 different cats I've brought hear over my time, and soon I will be bringing a forth in. They've always taken great care of my cats. They were also extremely compassionate and caring when it came to putting them down as well, when the time came. One cat had a routine surgery, and after we brought him in 3x with in 3 days because we noticed his behavior changed dramatically, the vet realized that the technicians had missed that my cat had developed an infection because one of his stiches fell out. The Dr. was great and performed emergency surgery, and treated the infection, all at cost because some of the staff had missed it, and he wanted to make it up to us. It was extremely thoughtful and an amazing thing to do. This will be the only place I bring my cats.

Above and beyond impressed with Southview Animal Hospital. Took our newly adopted 4-month-old puppy in for his first checkup. He was pretty sick with what we presumed was kennel cough. Dr. Ford quickly recommended x-rays as she worried he had pneumonia. Sure enough, x-rays showed pneumonia. Dr. Ford did a fabulous job explaining the process of hospital admission including cost and what to expect, as she worried our pup would not do well due to dehydration/difficulty breathing. She was thoughtful and incredibly transparent. Our pup, Arlo, had to stay for three nights for IV fluids/antibiotics/oxygen/nebs. During that time, all staff were incredibly kind when we visited. Dr. Ford was extremely helpful and punctual, giving us a call when she had updates or concerns. We originally thought about switching to Como Park Animal Hospital as they are widely popular but are truly impressed with how Dr. Ford and the staff at Southview Animal Hospital handled our case. Yes, treatment is expensive. However, they are incredibly transparent and deeply kind humans. AND they have a gorgeous new office! HIGHLY recommend!

Found this vet while looking for someone qualified to take reptiles – since then we have been taking all of our animals here. We see Dr Godinez but have also seen another doctor when our dog had an emergency visit. Very knowledgeable and compassionate staff – they will tell you like it is with honesty, and give their professional opinion about next steps, but not push you into care decisions. After every animal visit I always get a follow up call the next day or so checking on the health of whatever pet had come in for a visit. Just yesterday we had our great dane neutered and he has been well taken care of and sent home with additional pain medication for him. They are not the cheapest vet you will find– I have done that before (go for the cheapest) and let me tell you, I’d rather pay for quality care and have staff who is looking out for the health and well being of my family member! We love Southview!

I called this specific animal hospital yesterday to inquire about a concern I had regarding whether or not my dog could catch a viral infection that I currently have. She jumped on my concern right away and put me on a very brief hold to confide in the Veterinarian, in order to assure she received the correct information needed to relay back to me. I was so pleased with how compassionate and quick the Southview Animal Hospital staff was in bringing me reassurance to my concern, even over a phone call, and in finding the answers to something I'm sure they don't typically get asked. Best of the best of the best Today I got some of the worst news you could get on your furchild. The doctor I seen prepared me ahead of time for the potential of terrible news. Her gut was right and she was very straightforward, empathetic and caring when delivering the news. It means a lot. I have been bringing my rabbits and my other animals here for a few years now and they are wonderful at what they do. Never have had a negative experience. They’re knowledgeable and the fact that they have exotic animal drs is truly a blessing! They are just wonderful everytime! The only thing I can offer as constructive criticism would be I do think they could have better people taking their calls. Or more training in talking to people who call. ,The last couple times I have spoken with them over the phone they came off rude and as if I bothered them. The one lady literally said “Bye” and hung up after I thanked her for helping me reschedule an appointment. I’ve brought my dog here twice now. This time she is in severe pain and they were unable to do an exam due to her anxiety. Dr. Kelm said that she thought maybe something had happened to my dogs back legs but was unable to do an exam to obtain any evidence of that. They charged me $174 because they took her heart rate. That’s it. No temperature, they were unable to feel her because she was so scared. They quoted me $1000 additional to have my dog sedated for an exam. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a diagnosis. Edit* I was refunded the $140 for the exam and Dr. Foster personally called to apologize.

Sadly he passed away almost three years ago, the service we got that day was beyond amazing for the situation that happened. My wife and I and her brother were at southview last night with a very unfortunate event our cat rusty got very sick extremely fast with no warning but apparently his situation was going on for a long time and we had no idea. They were able to get me in last minute the Dr. We had last night was very helpful and understanding due to the circumstances. My wife and I have chosen to bring our 2 dogs and cat to southview due to their really good service and love for animals. They are very professional there. I’ll start by saying that I do have a regular vet that my dog has been seeing for years. That being said, my dog got sick on a Sunday and my regular vet wasn’t open. I'd like to give a shout-out to this clinic. I've been terrified of vet clinics since the Farmington vet butchered my cats toes when I had to get her declawed. I've been going here since I moved to Inver Grove in 2017 and the staff and doctors are always so friendly and nice. After I had to put my one guinea pig down in 2018 they sent me a card with kind words and are always willing to work with me if I can't front the money right away. Their ethics and love for animals is amazing. This vet is AMAZING! First of all I bring all 3 of my cats to them for regular and urgent care. Second of all, I caught a stray kitten last week who needed help, so I called my vet (after not liking the response I got from the humane society). They got me in contact with and rescue they work with. This vet helped me find a resource so I could drop of a stray 6 week old, injured kitten with them and by the time I did so, the rescue already had 2 foster homes for this precious little girl! Not only that, they helped me organize payments and treatment of a cat I was babysitting for a friend while he was out of state. Poor thing needed to be put down and through the whole process kept me and the owner aware of what was going on and what options were available and respected everything the owner wanted. This clinic holds a very special place in my heart!

Instead of taking Jack, our two-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, to a local animal hospital for a rhinoscopy, we drove three hours one way to Southview Animal Hospital in West St. Paul. We made this choice for several reasons. First, we personally know one of the veterinarians who works there. Because of this connection, we knew she practiced at a comprehensive animal hospital and that Jack would be in good, caring hands. And finally, the cost. Using an endoscope to retrieve a 3-inch-long stick lodged halfway up Jack’s nose was an expensive procedure, but Southview’s fees were significantly less than other animal hospitals we called for quotes. We realize it took a team to treat Jack, but we would like to thank Dr. Foster for calling my husband to discuss the procedure, the cost, and getting it scheduled promptly. Thank you, Dr. Lee, for having steady, skilled hands to remove the stubbornly offensive stick without causing Jack any more complications. Thank you, Brittany, for your technical care aiding in Jack’s recovery. And last, but not least, thank you, Dr. LaMotte, for your kindness, compassion, and personal touch. Please excuse us for not knowing anyone else’s names working this case, but my husband and I are grateful for everyone’s help. One week after Jack’s rhinoscopy, he is fully recovered. Jack has his nose to the ground, doing what he loves best, hunting upland birds.

We had a cat that suddenly became very I'll and we had to put her down, the staff was so caring, even though it was already a Sunday afternoon/evening they didn't rush us at all,we were told to spend an much time with her as we wanted, they left the room so we could have some time with her. One of the techs even hugged my young daughter and held her hand because she was noticeably upset. They treated our cat with so much dignity and respect and our family as well. We received a thoughtful card in the mail later on signed by eveyone on the staff expressing their condolences. It's those things that matter so much when you're going through something so terrible. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Foster and his staff at Southview Animal Hospital! They have been caring for our 2 golden retrievers for many years. Several weeks ago our 15 1/2 yo golden suddenly started throwing up and couldn't walk, eat, drink or even lift her head. A dog of that age could very well be nearing the end of their life, but she had shown no indication of illness prior to the vomiting. Dr. Foster came to our home to check on her. Seeing that she was gravely ill he gave us a few options: do nothing and see how she does overnight, give her IV fluids due to dehydration and see how she does overnight or consider euthanizing her. We opted for fluids and drove to his clinic for after hours care. Dr. Foster had called the clinic with instructions and they met us at the door and immediately took care of Summit. In the hour or two that we were there Dr. Foster called and spoke to the vet on duty 3-4 times. All the while he was constantly thinking about why Summit could have so quickly become this ill. He decided to do some blood work which showed one of her blood markers was considerably high - indicative of cancer, ingestion of something toxic or a serious intestinal infection. It was decided to give her antibiotics in case it was an infection or toxin ingestion. If she showed improvement by morning the antibiotics were doing their job, if not we would need to think about letting her go. I'm happy to say that Summit is back to herself thanks to Dr. Foster's expertise and care! The following week Dr. Foster stopped by our home to check on her and give her one more dose of fluids, he called to check on her a few times during the week and he only charged us his cost for the blood work and antibiotics because we had initially only talked about giving her fluids. The blood work and antibiotics were things he did because of a gut feeling coupled with his expertise and that is what brought Summit back to health. We are so grateful for the care Summit and Remy receive at Southview!

I went in to buy heart worm and flea meds for my kids but asked for K9 Advantix (which I had used on my kids but all 3 have been fairly sick since moving here). The owner actually came up front and discouraged me from buying it as he’s seen issues with other dogs who have used it. I then bought Frontline as suggested and was very grateful to have been given negative feedback on the product...now wondering if it was affecting my kids without my knowing. I love this vet. They have saved the life of my cat Julip a few times. She is FELV and most vets will just want you to euthanize them, but with the faith of my vet Christy Lee and the wonderful vet techs, Julip pulled through. I was advised of her condition while she stayed at the vet every day. They also kept me up on the cost. The only reason I took one star off is one of the vets I had to see when I could not see Dr. Lee didn't seem like he wanted to treat her. Kept calling it a 'chronic dieses' and I felt was trying to get me to euthanize her. I was very uncomfortable with him and requested not to see him if Dr. Lee was not available. All the other vets have been wonderful. I do believe vets need to change their feelings on FELV. It is a treatable dieses and should not mean a death sentence for a cat.

On 8/17/18 I brought my 24 yr old cat Catsanova in because he would fall every time he tried to walk. I was sure I would have to put him down that day. Catsanova was examined by Dr. Cinkoski. From the minute Dr. Cinkoski came in the room I knew she truly cared and wanted to help my fur baby. She examined him and respected my decision to not put him through any testing, my concern was “is it time”. His diagnosis wasn’t the best but she suggested to try a medication and also educated me on changes I may see forth coming. The medication worked he could walk and was not limping any longer with his arthritis pain. Every time I had a concern she was there to listen and give me advice on what I should do. She always made me feel like my concerns were valid and again she listened and offered a possible fix. I knew the time would come. Unfortunately in 3 weeks his health declined and after a lengthy conversation with Dr. Cinkoski I knew it was time. On 8/31/18 I had to put my best buddy down. Dr. Cinkoski and Sarah T. came to my home to put him down. They both were absolutely wonderful, very kind, compassionate and simply two beautiful ladies that cared about me, Catsanova and his brother Garby. They allowed Garby to be a part of all of it. They were so gentle with Catsanova and the dreaded procedure was never one of rushing it. Dr. Cinkoski I am forever grateful that you came into Catsanova’s life you made him comfortable in the last few weeks of his life. Thank you, thank you for your kindness and never making me feel like I was bugging you with my many phone calls. You are such an asset to Southview Animal Hospital and your patients. You, Dr. Cinkoski are a special person and Sarah T. you are just as special. Thank you both again for everything you did. SAH has the best Dr’s and Vet Techs hands down. I apologize for Garby’s catitude he displayed at first and thank you for tolerating him!!
