Reviews of Kentucky Humane Society East Campus
Had a great experience with them and brought home a beautiful fur baby to add to the family
Very small. Not alot of animals. One thing I did like was that you could actually pet and handle the cats and kittens. They had more kittens and cats then big dogs. Which is good I guess but if your looking for a variety then its not so good. The did have two puppies when I went that were so cute and very beautiful. Small but very clean
I visited this location to donate a few pet items and couldn’t help notice the helpful people there. Lots of rooms to assist with adopting a pet. Great deal on leashes if you are looking for one. Donations are accessible via a box out front. Easy to donate with a sign to describe what is acceptable what is not acceptable.
We adopted a very awesome Puppy, Tiger has been a joy! He is a Mountain Cur and really enjoying his forever home!
Very nice and gave us time to bond with the dogs. When we agreed to adopt them both there was only 1 adoption fee and they gave us a goody bag for each dog.
Very friendly staff. This location is smaller than the main location, but the staff was wonderful at helping us find our new kitty.
I adopted a brilliant dog from KHS. No joke, she's the smartest doggo this side of the Mississippi. We love her. Strike that, we're a little obsessed. Still in the honeymoon phase. Anyway, the staff and volunteers at KHS were very informative, kind and helpful. They made me feel supported in my journey as a pet parent.
The staff offered up all the intake info when I stopped by to meet dogs. I was given plenty of time to get to know each one. The animals are well cared for and loved by their caretakers.
I highly recommend adopting your pet from KHS.
He's older now, but when we first got Ringo (formerly Baby) he stole our hearts. The quietest kitten of the bunch, there was just something about him. I love him so much. We come back to Kentucky Humane Society sometimes to donate and say hello to the little ones. We appreciate everything KHS does. Great organization.
We were there about 12 days ago hopefully to take home a small dog we saw on the website. After spending some time there we were encouraged by a caring staff member to meet Piper! So glad we did, she's wonderful and a warm welcome to our family. We changed her name at our granddaughters request ❣️Many thanks to the family that had to surrender her and to KHS Lyndon Lane Louisville
Super helpful, clean environment and welcoming. Made my puppy's adoption extremely easy. 💟 …
They were so great with me! The adoption process was fast and they explained everything so well. Emma helped me throughout the process and was a blessing to me. She was so knowledgeable and was happy to answer all my questions. She even helped me carry all the extra stuff to my car for my new puppy, Bunny! I am very impressed with this location and their kindness.
Highly recommend!!! We adopted a puppy 2 weeks ago and she is amazing! We couldn’t be happier! The staff is so nice and takes the time to answer all your questions and they are very thorough. They also make sure you are fully equipped to take your new family member home immediately. Thank you all so much!
Wonderful folks doing a super job trying to find our poor little homeless critters decent, loving, forever homes. Stop by and see if you can help out. If you're unable to adopt and your zoo is full I'm sure they'd be thrilled at anything you can offer.. pet supplies, volunteer time,donations...where there's a will there's a way! Thoughts and prayers for the homeless humans and animals are wonderful, but they alone won't fill hungry hearts and bellies!
They were great. I have been off and on visiting the Humane Society for a few decades and they are always great. This time I of course had to get a young dog. :-)
Staff was very courteous. Allowed us time to see the animals we wanted to look at and ended up adopting a wonderful dog. This is the second adoption I have made through east campus and both have been great experiences.
Great place to adopt a pet! Clean facility and friendly staff make it easy to find a new addition to your family! Adopted 2 pets from here already and sent friends, family and neighbors there as well! Great place with loving animals that need a good home! 🐶🐱💛🐝💛⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ …
Love this place! We are great supporters of the Kentucky Humane Society and when we learned they had groomers at their East Point location along with boarding...we tried them out. The facility is in a new building quite large and our German Shepherd Sadie looked great after grooming when we picked her up! Prices are reasonable. We were thrilled with the results. Check them out.
Given them a try!
The staff was friendly and very helpful as we looked to find an adoptable family member
I came here to find a puppy and found a loving companion. He's great with kids and really calm. The workers were also amazing. They were friendly and very helpful. They explained everything and made sure I understood the process. They made everything so easy. Thanks guys!! Yall are awesome.
Wonderful experience at the Humane Society adopting my sweet kitten on Sunday morning.
The girl that works there.. she has two pet rabbits at home... is AWESOME. She is funny, a sweetheart, and just has a great personality.
Pleasantly surprised. The facility is clean, bright, more like a nursery. I expected something like a jail but I was really amazed at the general good vibe of the place.
Very friendly people, cant beat prices for services! Had to wait in line since its first come, first served. Well worth it! Appreciate them being there! Very affordable! Thanks!
We got lost and by the time we found it we only had 1 minute left and the dog we wanted had been adopted😭 but we are not giving up. This place was clean and fairly quite considering the pets it had. My husband spotted a large cage with a sweet black cat in it. Hiding below in a little hiding place was what looked like its twin. We went to see a dog and almost left with 2 black cats. Hey that would have worked as long as we also went back for a dog😀
I love this place because I love animals. I love that they are cared for in every way until homes can be found for them. We have had dogs for over 40 years, always purebreds that we bought from a breeder. After our last dog passed, we decided that we would not get another one.
After a year or so, as my husband and I were enjoying our morning coffee, on a whim, I said to him, “Why don’t we go over to the Humane Society and get a dog?” I looked over at him and he was standing up, car keys in his hand, ready to go.
We immediately drove to the Kentucky Humane Society on Lyndon Lane. We probably could have brought a dog home with us that same day, but we didn’t. We went back two days later and a new dog was there. She was so friendly that my husband fell in love with her immediately. Izzy has been our dog for over two years now. We still remark to each other how lucky we were to get her. She is our first mixed breed dog — part Jack Russell and part Beagle. Izzy has the best personality — she loves everyone and assumes everyone loves her as well. She is so certain that everyone loves her that when my husband takes her on their daily one-mile walk through the neighborhood, she stops in front of every house where there is someone outside. It does not matter if it is the homeowner, a workman, or a delivery person. She is certain they will want to come out to the street to pet her. And most of the time, they do! Izzy just has so much love in her heart for everyone. We do not know anything about her background, but clearly she came from a loving home and also had some training. She has never gone to the bathroom in the house, and she knew what the command “Sit” meant the first time I said it to her.
The only problem we have ever had with her is that in her first few months in our house, she would slip out the door any time it was open. We would chase her on foot throughout the neighborhood. She would stop to smell the roses or sniff something in the grass, but as soon as we would get within grabbng distance, she would take off. She truly thought we were playing a game with her. This went on for a few months before it occurred to me that all I had to say was “Sit”, and she would. She has matured some since then and no longer runs when a door is open.
Izzy has long legs and runs in our backyard as fast as she can. She looks like a white streak going across the yard. She particularly likes doing this when she has an audience, so she is obviously showing off. We love our Izzy and she loves us — unconditionally. She has brought so much joy to our lives. Plus my husband gets exercise, as she walks him at least 1 mile nearly every day of the year! Their thing is the daily walks. My thing with a Izzy is lovingly rubbing her head, neck and shoulders at least once a day, sometimes twice. She just walks over and presents herself to me, and I know what I am supposed to do. When I have had enough, I say to her, “Thanks for coming over.” She knows that she is dismissed, so walks away. She seems to understand every word we say to her.
Kudos to the Kentucky Humane Society for making this possible!
Went here and attended a puppy manners class with my daughter and her new pup. The class was very engaging. The instructor Katy was very nice and was very clear about her instructions and attentiveness to the entire class. Strongly recommend this place to anyone with a new puppy or a dog that needs a little work. Also a great place to find your next furry friend.
Great experience - friendly staff. Thank you for saving the Beagles!
They have the most courteous staff who love animals and address all the concerns in most caring way. Dr Oliver is awesome! He always takes his time to explain things and truly care about out pet. Would highly recommend this place.
OMGoodness, where to start??? Every one was so friendly and professional!!!! The facility was clean and organized! The staff are so sweet and loving to the prescious animals, they're very well taken care of! So honored to have found my families furever companion there!
Everyone here is so nice & wonderful! I had a great visit and the service was amazing. However, the puppy I adopted not only had the dog flu, which was a $600 vet visit, but also had fleas & tapeworm. The service was 10/10, but I expected the animals to be in better shape.
It was an absolutely wonderful experience!! The lady that helped us, and I hate to say I can't remember her name, WAS PHENOMENAL!! She ACTUALLY cared and you could ABSOLUTELY tell that she LOVED HER JOB!! I thoroughly do appreciate everything that you helped my daughter with!! She ended up adopting a little "mighty" VORTEX, AND SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES HIM!! Great place and a fantastic experience!!
Thank goodness for the staff at LmAS. Kind group helping people find forever pets.
I love this place so much! Having a bad day? Come here and snuggle some of Louisville's cutest dogs and cats FOR FREE! They always make me feel better. How much better? Last time I went I fell so in love with one of the adorable little puppies that I had to take her home with me to her forever home. Thank you all so much for taking such good care of my best friend until I came to get her. I'll never be able to repay you for that.
Made our adoption very easy for our newest kitty! Kelby was awesome!
Lots of cute friendly dogs and cats all looking for a FOREVER HOME.
STAFF is friendly and very helpful.
I will say this: they show at any public festival ,in order to get their furry children adopted. They advertise in Leo. Very friendly, and caring. My first dog came from there, indirectly, and my third(first on my own ,directly). The animals know not everyone gets a home, and they are eternally grateful. Not easy to find, though.Excellent and knowledgable staff.
Such an amazing place. We have been here a few times to see dogs. They have an easy to use website and they are quick to respond back to you. They made the adoption process super easy. All they staff are great with animals and are super knowledgeable. I would adopt from them again. They also sell the essentials here if you need to pick up anything for your animal.
Wonderful place, very clean, friendly staff and you can tell they love their jobs!
I love all the training options they offer. My boy just finished his first manners class and I was amazed at how much they go over in six weeks. I have seen a big difference in his leash walking and greetings. I will be signing him up for an intermediate training and looking into their at home training for my extra reactive dog. They offer trainings for almost any issue or training goal, all with positive reinforcement and knowledgeable trainers.
Very friendly staff, everyone was very patient with my 3 year old picking his first pet. Everything moved smoothly and you can tell everyone there really cares for the animals. My new favorite H.S hub!
Love this place adopted a mini panther named Roy and he has added so much joy to our family
Adopted a great Border Collie mix and he has made the best addition to our family. Thank you so much to the Humane Society.
I adopted an older female named Ruby maybe basset hound - red tick hound - beagle mix back in October 2014. She was dirty when I got her. I would think they could bathe the dogs to make them more attractive for adoption. I first saw Ruby at the Clarksville Feeders Supply. They had transferred her to this location. Then I had to go to this location in Louisville three times in one day to complete the adoption process. I had to leave I think $25 deposit at first, which I never saw again. And it wasn't applied to the adoption fee. I don't know what the young lady did with that money. I think Most people wouldve gotten impatient and annoyed with the multiple trips. Ruby is with me for life. She has her own day bed and looks out a picture window. She is a laid back good companion dog and a good watch dog.
Although this organization is not perfect, I do donate at times. More People need to be responsible and spay and neuter their pets. People need to Stop giving their pets away for free on Craigslist.
A guy came in to surrender a kitten. Staffer or volunteer said they don't accept animals here but at another location. Please have staff and volunteers give out a flyer with the address and directions to the nearest surrender location.
This Humane Society does a great job of helping people find the best cat or dog for their family. The goal is for people to find the pet that best fits their temperament, lifestyle, and space requirements, and the staff here work tirelessly to make this happen.
I have brought 2 beautiful, silly, loving fur babies in from the streets. One of them we brought in from the frigid cold with several injuries, and the other had several scratches from fighting over another fur baby.
Kentuckiana Humane Society is way beyond 5 stars. I have not seen them refuse a animal, but as I said they know their work. Anyone out there that see a fur babies Cats or dogs please call them and make a appt.
Also, we would love for anyone looking for a fur baby to adopt please think of all the loving caring, and just want to be loved in a home instead of all alone in the streets.
If you are not interested in adopting a fur ball babie you can donate anything that you can that they can use for them. Please donate or even sponsor any of them. I'm sure I will need to return one day, and I will not be turned away 😻🐾 Trina & Meagan.
I have had 3 total adoptions from this facility. Everyone was very nice.
Everyone was nice and accommodating. Helped my daughter find a car that fit her and even called a week after to check up on everyone.
The people there are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. The adoption process was easy and quick. It didnt take long to bring our new fur baby home!
Although my daughter and I enjoyed our visit to this KHS East campus, we really miss being able to visit the much larger location on Steedly. This East campus has a very limited number of animals, and it does not have a cat room where the adult cats can roam freely (the Steedly campus has 2 such rooms). In short, I give it 5 stars for the quality of the facility but am somewhat disappointed with the limited size.
Attended six week training (once a week) for "Reactive Rover" class. Absolutely loved it and my "student" (Sophie, a 4 year old female Pointer/Boxer mix) showed progress that I never thought I would see. The method of using the reward system (as opposed to "who knows what" other trainers do) really is thoughtful, effective, and humane. Highly recommended and very satisfied.
Pretty good but did not have a lot of animals and on top of that, they are overly expensive for some. Almost 200 for a dog is a bit much for some and 75 for a cat.
Edit: since I was replied to, it's worth looking at. Animals are only expensive because they do not receive any funding and are local.
One of the best decisions I've ever made. Thank you bringing happiness to our home
A friendly atmosphere, helpful, knowledgeable staff, sweet gentle animals who desperately want you to take them home.
I was very thrilled and pleased with the experience. The only suggestion would be to deworm the animals since you provided flea medicine.
They were so helpful after I found a lost dog!
The people were really friendly and very helpful we adopted a kitten from them and we are really happy with her
We got our second dog here. They were so helpful in answering all out questions about our second family member. They are loving and caring to our four-legged friends.
Staff was awesome. They made u feel so comfortable and I found my grandbabies their new best friend.

What a Great experience adopting our New Furbaby through them , after losing our 19 year old kitty.
Wonderful place with amazing people to help place pets in the right homes.
Really great shelter. Great staff
Love this place. Everyone is nice and everything is clean, just wish they had more room for more animals it seems there isn't much selection when I go.
Great place. Clean. Staff is pleasant. We had our cat neutered at the SNIP clinic.
I adopted my puppy Dory from here all the staff were very kind and helpful. This is such a wonderful place.
A blueprint for how animal shelters should be run. Update, King Louie has been in our home for 6 months and has fully adapted to family life.
Of course it's good there are animals, but I guess they were busy because at the time it was not very clean.
Professional and friendly staff.
Knowledgeable about the animals.
The facility is kept very clean by staff and volunteers that work there.
I bring items in to donate regularly and the staff are always very kind and helpful. You can care they care about the animals
Helped me with a K9 drifter. No "chip" , now mine. Thanks for your assistance KHS!
They just rebuilt the inside, expanded the whole building and made a couple play yards for the animals to play. I'm going to hopefully get a rescue dogsl soon.

They were really nice and overall very efficient. However they knew very little about some the animals they had. Which is a bit concerning.
I love the sroundi ga of the animals but they don't take volunteers unlike other places
As a volunteer there it is always good to see animals get adopted. Animals get adopted so quickly!
