I love these guys. We’ve been using them for the past 20 years or so. They saw us through two great dogs, Tucker and Lady and when the time came to let them go, the staff at Dixie were just more than caring, they were so loving and sensitive. Now, we have Pepper, a rescue Pit mix and she’s getting the same wonderful care we’ve come to expect. I know vet care can be pricey but if anything happens to Pepper, I’m running up to Dixie Animal Hospital!

Started going here in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I've got 2 dogs and 3 cats, all rescues and have been to many vets and animal hospitals in Louisville. Out of every animal hospital I've been to they are consistently the most affordable. This was honestly my main decision when I was looking for the basic shots when I got my husky in 2020. Until this week, June 2022, I'd never been able to go with my pet inside the clinic because of covid. The staff facilitated a very organized parking lot/car type of service during 2020 and it went smoothly. When I brought my husky in for a sick visit and finally went inside I was really surprised at how friendly the staff was. All the employees down to the woman cleaning up to the vet (Dr. L?) treated us very well. Thanks for taking care of my baby 💕

Called to get an appointment for our new puppy. His front paw had been injured. They could not seem me the day I called but they receptionist looked into the next day and found us a spot. I usually see Dr. Bob but was given and appt with some one else. That was okay. The next day then puppy seemed to be doing okay so I cancelled. Dr. Bob has always been nice and very concerned about issues we might have. I have been going there for well over (?) 30 years....

When we got the gloomy news, the staff sat with us patiently while we said our goodbyes to our fur baby. They walked me out to my car even while I was bawling my eyes out. A few days later we received a lovely card, with some seeds to plant in remembrance of our buddy. They were wonderful and even called to check on me. They didn't try to sell me more treatments, or medicines, they were great staff.

Our baby was very sick and we didn't know what was wrong with him he was dehydrated and extremely, lethargic and my wife and I were so scared we were going to lose him...We called out vet but they really just told us we would have to wait till Monday to bring him in! We weren't even sure he was going to survive the night let alone another day and a half!! We called Shively Animal Hospital, (Which I am not a big fan of because they are extremely busy and it takes so much time to be seen....well there were a few other calls asking if we could bring him in and estimated cost! It was a couple hours later we were doing whatever we could to make our baby comfortable...we get a call from the vet at Shively asking about our Yorkie Bentley...and told us to bring him in and that she would be very thoughtful of the cost! ( Another legitimate concern) ok long story short our baby Bentley had to stay the night and he was back to normal a day or 2 later!! As Shively Animal Hospital was the only one that called us back even to make sure we found somewhere to get help!! That's so awesome because the vet wasn't concerned about getting paid but truly cared about Bentley!!

Hello, I’m contihaving problems with the front desk, at Jefferson Animal Hospital, for denying my pet the prescription cat food for my feline who suffers from a feline UTO. The UTO was also diagnosed by Jefferson Animal hospital. You doctor’s office was recommend to me by some friends who are locals. Based on the positive reviews and suggestion from friends, I would love to bring my business to your establishment. Do you carry this Royal Canin Feline Urinary SO cat food, and does your office team treat the animals and humans who visit nicely? And can I have the veterinary records for Izzy faxed to your office? Thank you, Joe Hello, I’m having issues with the front desk at Jefferson Animal Hospital denying my pet the prescription cat food required to keep him alive. My cat Izzy is susceptible to feline UTOs, and oddly enough The UTO was also diagnosed by Jefferson Animal Hospital, which is the very same doctor’s office staff who are denying Izzy his life saving medicine. I had to have my 13 year old cat put down, which I was so devastated over. Dr. Medley is the one put him down and was so kind to my little buddy and talked to him the entire time. He was very compassionate to me as well . I would highly recommend him and the entire team I had they were wonderful. They helped make a terrible situation at least tolerable.

My son and I went to Dixie Animal Clinic back in October to put down our family pet "Suzie" a black lab mix that has been in the family for 12 years. The staff was so sweet, and caring. It was a very heartbreaking ordeal, yet their attentiveness made it easier. I was really impressed by the care and professionalism by both doctor and staff. About a week ago I received a card with doctor and staff signature. It really touched me because I knew that they didn't have to do that. I will always keep that card to remind me of our Suzie, and highly recommend Dixie Animal Clinic.

I was satisfied with our visit. I took my fur bay into the clinic to have see what his skin condition was from. In advance I had set up a diagnostic and treatment plan. They were prompt to get us in and out. I would have rather had the phone call to discuss what they were doing before bringing him back out, but overall we were satisfied.

We had two Boston Terriers that were treated like little queens here. All of they front desk, Tech's, and Doctors are great. Even after we lost our 2 fur-angels they were super supportive and helped us get through our lost. When we do decide to get another fur kid, they will be the ones to take care of them......

I was referred to this practice for our new puppies care! I absolutely love that they give free puppy exams. They were so kind and informative and made sure to take the time to answer any of my questions. I felt like my puppy was in safe hands the whole time. Also with the craziness of COVID protocol needed these days they got their system figured out! It made me feel safe and it was efficient. Where most places i would have been waiting forever Because of new protocol! Let me just add That the app to schedule your appointments and keep up with the health history of your pet just takes it to a whole new level! This is the Chick-fil-A of vets!! I absolutely love this place! They are very attentive to your dog's needs. I have not had a single bad experience here. The groomers are great and take time to meet your dog's needs (even if he's a tad stubborn or cranky). I had my first very experience and the vet was friendly and explained the issues without all the medical terminology. I recommend Dixie Animal hospital for all your pet needs.

Been coming here for a few years. They have always seem to be very caring with the animals and reasonably priced. My only complaint used to be the wait as they did not do appointments but first come first serve. As of last year, they now only do appointments with the exception of emergency visits. Unless something changes, this will be the only vet I use in Louisville.

This place is really good with our pets. It was clean, with really nice employees. I took him there for boarding while I went to Florida with my family. My fur baby was so happy to see me when I got back into town, but he also turned around and started licking the employee who brought him to me. I take that as a good sign that they were good to him.

I love this vet!! So very helpful and you couldn't ask for better prices!! They are so reasonable!! And they truly care for each and every pet that comes through their doors. I even know of one case where one of these wonderful docs (Dr. Bobb) helped a man with mental illness, who couldn't travel, by doing house calls for him!! The vet techs are the best in the business!! So sweet, kind and informative!! They are able to accommodate dogs who are anti-social by bringing them in a back door. I'm telling you, this place and THESE PEOPLE ARE FABULOUS!!!

Our long hair cat, Nova, retreats under the bed a lot. Crouching to get under the bed created a lot of matting on her back that I couldn’t remove. Dixie Animal Hospital was recommended by my vet’s office and they were awesome. Perfectly bathed and groomed. I’ll definitely go back! The price was extremely reasonable as well.

Fantastic! I had an emergency with my puppy and they were very attentive and compassionate not only with my puppy but with me as well. I was a wreck and they could not have handled the situation any better. Then five days later after I had taken my puppy home, the vet called to make sure he was doing good and to remind me when I could bring him back in to get his stitches out. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I have taken my furbabies for their vet care needs at Dixie Animal Hospital for MANY years. My last boy Mugzey was 15 years old and he was cared for by them his entire life span. Our very crazy little guy Max is now 5 1/2 years old and started taking him to them at 2 months old. Thanks for putting up with us because Max is a noisy one if other dogs try to approach him in the waiting area so we really appreciate your patience, love & great care that you give to him. I would not trust anyone else with his care. I am so happy that we now are able to make appointments! So much better than it was before when just had to arrive and wait to be seen. Brought my grumpy old chihuahua in for his appointment to get a nail trim and rabies vaccine yesterday. I ended up getting there and signing in about 10 minutes early. Once we were called to the exam room Dr. Bobb took care of my pup in a flash. We were in and out much quicker than I expected. I saw signs saying appointments were a new thing and I have to say I really appreciate being able to set an appointment. Even if the wait had been longer, it's nice to know you're "in line". We'll be back for sure. *Editing to add, we took the same little dog to them this week for a tooth extraction and cleaning and they understood how nervous I was about the anesthesia for our tiny 13 year-old dog. They did the procedure and even trimmed his nails for free. Thank you Dixie for treating my baby with care.

I wanted to give 5 stars, so badly. Everyone is nice, lovely, generous with dog treats... However, two times in a year, I had to return after an initial visit, and pay the recheck fee. It's frustrating to go in, say I'm here for ____, they come back and say "Ope, we don't see anything!?" I go home. Problem gets worse. Schedule another appointment and pay recheck fee... probably going to look for another vet. To be fair, it was two doctors in particular, not representative of the whole veterinary staff. But come on... I say 'something is wrong with her paw'. Look. At. Her. Paw. Would you just look at it? I do recommend Dixie Animal Hospital. Be sure all of your needs and concerns are addressed in ONE visit. Be persistent. Save yourself time and MONEY. And save your animal discomfort.

I took my dog there, had good experiences and bad. One Vet told me I should put her down, but I kept her on the medication and 3 days later she was fine. Went there about a month ago, and she was coughing again. A different Vet gave her the same medication and never even suggested putting her down. I know her time is getting close, but as long as shes not suffering, I need my lil buddy. Im not gonna give up on her.

I've been to a lot of vets over the years. Shively, cornerstone, stonefield, all pets vet. Most are just about the money. I found out about this vet from my husband and mother-in-law. We took my husband's dog December 2017 and had Dr. McIntyre. He's amazing. Just the best. He cares more about the pet than the money. My husband's dog looks like a totally different dog. We did everything he said to do and he didn't even recognize her. Be works on Wednesdays. I've made an appointment for my 6 year old husky and my 13 year old cat to see him. You will not be disappointed!

We adopted a dog that the previous owner was unable to care for appropriately. Because of some problems getting his shot records, we opted to go to Dixie Animal Hospital where the previous owner had taken him. It is a little bit of a drive for us, but as it turned out, it was worth the drive. Our dog is a little skittish and afraid of other dogs even though he is larger than most even as a puppy, so they let us take him right from the parking lot to a waiting room - an option a lot of other places don't have/offer. Because he barked at the vet assistant who came to take him to the Doc for shots, they had us put a muzzle on him (not a problem). By the time he received his shots and cam back to us the muzzle was gone. He made the vet his friend and all was right with the world even though he needed several shots. Because he went to the same vet where he had been treated before, they could use his history to guide the shots he was given, otherwise we would have had to start at zero. We have his updated shot records and he is ready to go. Parking is more than adequate, but there isn't a lot of grass to let your dog (or other pet) relieve him/herself before walking in the door. Ours spend his time sniffing, but thankfully had no accidents. Its a big place and they have a pet shop with pet supplies (not pets for sale as far as I am aware) in the building adjacent to the waiting room. And we were also able to get his monthly meds (heartworm, flea/tick) when we checked out. Everyone was great, prices were good, and our pet was not traumatized by the experience. It is a little out of the way for us which is why they only earned 4 stars. They really were great!

One of my fur babies became ill and needed vet care. Was fortunate I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. The wait time was less than normal. I can't remember the vets name but he was friendly and professional. He also informed me of the types of bones or chewables dogs should not have even though pet stores and such sell these products claiming they are safe. Check out time was better this visit too. The only thing I wish I could change there are the fees. They are not as pricey as some places, but higher than another vet I've used in the past. But I am normally in a bit of a hurry so Dixie Animal is usually my first choice. I try to avoid 3 to 4 hour wait if possible.

Dixie Animal is by-far the best option around. Having been a customer for well over 30 years now (as a child and now as an adult). Dr. Bob is my absolute favorite Veterinarian, but everyone at Dixie is very friendly, trustworthy, and I value the entire group. I trust the advise and the care that all of my pets receive. If you have a nervous Pet that doesn't do well with a visit to the Vet, you can cut-down on the wait time by planning ahead (if you are able) - Dixie is now taking appointments! As with most Vet Offices, the wait can be extended depending on the day and time that you go in. If it isn't an emergency, I recommend scheduling an appointment to cut down on that wait time and avoid any unneeded frustration.

But we could see on the books that at the very least they had written us in for 2:40. It was a very long way with a very frightened cat. I have 10 cats and 2 dogs. 5 of the cats were abandoned that we took in - I was able to afford to get them all spayed and neutered thanks to Dixie. I have been going there for 10 years and have never experienced anything like any of the bad reviews. I travel an hour because of the cost, availability of services and the care that my animals receive. I have been to several other vets to try them out because of the long commute. We always end up at Dixie because of the excellent care my animals receive - they make it affordable to care for your pets. The other vets don't.

Well I can say I seen the difference in care here. Unlike those first come first serve places that are too busy to actually find out the cause of your pets illness etc. Took my dog to one of those places by the third week and $300 later I decided to go to Dixie animal because he wasn't getting better first thing they did was take blood test and he had acute pancreatitis. They gave him fluids and nausea medicine through the IV told me how to take care of him and one week later he was back to normal.

THE VERY BEST! My Toy Pomeranian, Teka Lee lived to almost her 17th Birthday because of the great care given to her by the wonderful, caring Vets at Dixie Animal Hospital. She had a collapsing trachea that would have surely killed her at the age of 8. The Vets made her a compound oral medication that relaxed her throat. She lived 8 1/2 years longer because they CARE. She was our baby & they treated her with the respect as such. I have always been a loyal Customer & will always be. They take care of our Rottweilers now, Cane & Able. I have been taking all my pets here for years and never had one issue. About 8 yrs ago I had an outdoor/indoor cat that was 9yrs old at the time and she was poisoned by my old neighbor. Instead of giving up on her like the 24hr vet on outer loop they kept her there for days trying to save her. It was an awful time but they never gave up. She still passed but it was peaceful because when they realized it was time they gave her pain medicine and let her drift to sleep. I miss her everyday. I now have 4 dogs and 2 cats that will never go anywhere else.

Here is the vet office doing it right. Other places are in it for the money yet this place has the same equipment and more compassionate doctors. My story is simple, I was tapped out because early in the day my elderly cat had been attended to by our awesome vet office who had closed at 12. By the time I'd gotten home, my other elderly cat started having issues. I called around trying to see what could be done, and the office across the street from me, in Jeffersonville are notoriously expensive without reason, quoted 600. Friends recommended Dixie instead, and I called. They said their basic office fee, blood work and xrays and meds wouldn't be more than 300. It was less. I'm in the process of writing a thank you note to Dr Lionell Smith for her care of my fur baby Sassy. My cat had blood work done to rule out trouble there, turns it she had a uti and was a bit dehydrated. I'd recommend Dr Smith as the backup vet all of us need. Everyone should be so well priced.

We just recently had a girl who is greatly loved- and my husbands heart would shatter if anything happened to her- need surgery and most the vets wanted 500 DOWN and an open credit card to even see her. It was a Csection,spay and teeth pulled- and the whole bill was 700- with 6 live pups! I hadnt expected puppies as she had somuch trouble we just wanted her okay....so these people will help you and not gouge you.
