I highly recommend Kalihi Pet Clinic to cat owners. I've been going to Kalihi Pet Clinic since the time Dr. Obara was a new veterinarian working with Dr. Lau. Over these past maaaaany years, my adult daughter and I have brought several cats to Dr. Obara. From our first visit at Kalihi Pet Clinic, it was clear that the staff were compassionate, caring, and gentle. One cat I had was very feisty and a vet at another, local, clinic would gingerly examine him...if he was in a NET! Not Dr. Obara and his team. They treated that ornery cat as if it was one of their beloved family pets. This of course helped each vet visit to be much less traumatic than it could have been. When that cat got sick, Dr Obara invited me to pick up medication, even as most businesses were shuttering to prepared for a hurricane. Over the years, the Kalihi Pet Clinic team has helped us prepare for the death of three of our elderly, beloved cats. I recall Dr. Obara advising us to think of five things our pet used to love to do. How many of those things does he still enjoy? This is one way a pet owner can know when it's time to make the hardest decision we ever make for our pet. When that time came, Dr. Obara gave us the phone numbers of vets who would come to our homes and put our "tiny cat" to sleep while my daughter held her in her arms. I currently have a cat who is extremely hard to crate. In the old days, I opted for walk-in appointments, so this wasn't a large problem. However, since the pandemic, veterinary clinics all over town only take patients via appointment. I have had to cancel multiple appointments because I just couldn't crate Ella at the right time to get her to her appointment. Even though I consistently canceled at the last moment, the Kalihi Pet Clinic team patiently allowed me to reschedule every time. Dr. Obara is extremely knowledgeable. He is able to answer my numerous questions. Sometimes I wonder if certain tests or shots are needed. Dr. Obara doesn't recommend unnecessary procedures, and he explains why they are not necessary for the situation I am asking about.

Dr. Obara and his staff are the absolute best!! They always take the BEST care of my fur-baby and I could not recommend him enough!! As a former employee of the clinic, I can attest to the fact that prices are comparable to those found at the humane society or other clinics. Dr. Obara and his staff are always SUPER sweet and caring with every animal that comes in the clinic. Kittens and puppies receive just as much attention and love as the geriatric patients do. We LOVE this clinic and will continue to use Dr. Obara while we are on the island.

This place is happening. The staff is on it like no tomorrow. Very busy but at least the customers are very satisfied when they leave. You drop off your pet and then pick them up when there done. Very friendly staff. This is my first time ever going to take my dogs to the vet and so far so good. Really good job guys. Keep up the good work.

The most compassionate vet on island with very fair prices. Our dog has skin issues and Dr Obara and his staff have been our go-to vet for our years on island. They’ve always treated our boy as if he’s their own. We just moved off island and I wish I could take them with us!

Always awesome, as a new pet owner a few years ago, they answered all of our questions and helped us out, don't think they even charged fees for the first visits because he wasn't ready for his shots, even sent us home with some trial sized flea medication before. Dr. Ibarra and the team are always so friendly and help Odin feel comfortable.

First come first served may mean an hour plus...but always worth the wait, and the drive. They have a new system in place to update you by text so you can walk your dog or run errands. Amazing in his care of our dog, Dr. Obara has always been spot on. Your pet's in great hands with the incredible staff here.

I went in to check up on my dog who was couching and wheezing heavily, after hours of online md research thinking worst case scenario. Dr. Obara was very thorough assured me there was no kennel cough and sometimes smaller dogs have the tendency to developed such coughs but there is no need to worry. My initial check in was a success everyone was super friendly and helpful. However, while trying to schedule dental cleaning a month later, one of the staff was very rude and berated me for not coming in for a follow up a week later. She said they left messages for me on the phone saying the emailed me and left me information requiring an immediate follow-up a week post initial check in. That’s not true. I replayed my voice mail. The vet left instructions on medication dosage and only stated if dog does not heal within a week of taking medicine as prescribed THEN I should make a follow up.

I wish to thank Dr. Obara and his Staff. My Baby has always gone to Kalihi Pet Clinic since she was born. I recently tried a different Vet because they were close to where I live. I realized that good quality, good value and knowing that my Baby is in good hands is more important than proximity. I will never deter again.

Wonderful experience! Moved here from Winnipeg, Canada and had an amazing vet there so was thinking it'd be hard to top. Kalihi Pet Clinic is clean, friendly and the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. They operate on a walk in basis and had plenty of staff on hand to deal with the numerous cats and dogs brought in while I was there with my kitty. Best of all, once our kitty had had her check up - because they didn't end up doing too much apart rom take her temp and give her a once over, it was NO CHARGE! Now that is hard to beat. As most places would have charged a nominal fee so my husband and I left feeling very happy and glad we have found somewhere we can take our cats whenever they next need any kind of vet care (hopefully not any time soon).

With the covid19 precautions the visits are less personal. U park in a barking stall and call a number. An employee comes out to retrieve the animal. You remain in the vehicle until u receive a call and the findings are told to you. Pay by credit card and then the pet is brought out. Not too bad but prefer to b in the exam room with the doctor. Dr. Obama is a very good vet.

Craig K. Dr. Obara has been our dogs Veterinarian since we brought her home at six weeks old. She was a sickly puppy but with Dr. Obara's care she is now a happy healthy five year old. He also cared for our Guinea Pig but she passed away from old age. Dr. Obara is the best there is nowhere else I would take our dog. His staff kind, caring and friendly. The clinic was clean and the staff was friendly. Especially for a walk-in clinic, they exceeded my expectations for polite, prompt service and clean facilities. My dog unexpectantly freaked out and refused to enter the exam room so the nurses were super flexible and accommodating and gave her her shots and nail trim in the waiting room instead. Even after getting scared, my dog was able to be calm and happy with the sweet, gentle expertise with which the nurses handled her. Very satisfied, will return and recommend to others! UPDATE: I had to bring my dog here again for surgery after she was attacked by loose dogs. They took such good care of her and the bill was about 1/4 of what I expected to pay! When the vet tech came to talk to me about her aftercare, my dog ran right up to her and rolled over for a belly rub, letting me know she had received lots of love while she was kept overnight. They even texted me pictures of her wounds for documentation and followed up the next day asking how she was doing. I love this place!

We have been going to Kalihi Pet Clinic for over 5 years. The service is excellent. Everyone is so caring. They really care about each pet. They are kind and gentle with the animals. My chihuahua Maltese mix is terrified of people but she loves and trusts the vets and staff at Kalihi pet clinic which says a lot . The prices are reasonable. I would never go anywhere else.

I came across an abandoned dog last night and brought him to Kalihi Pet Clinic. Jennifer at the front desk was amazing!!! She was so thoughtful and really went above and beyond to get us once to see the vet. We needed X-rays and a general health assessment to see what our options were. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who desires a professional and friendly company! They treated us so well and took care of the little angel I found!!! Thank you so much!!!!

They took care of my baby when she started having problems breathing. One of the very techs, Jennifer, was very accommodating with my email questions and concerns. They helped with meds when the pharmacy failed to ship life saving medicine for my dog in a timely manner. Unfortunately they don't take appointments but they have a list where you can see where in line you are so that helps!

I've been taking my dog to kalihi pet clinic for about two maybe three years, yes parking is limited but it's worth the wait to find parking. Everyone that works here is extremely helpful and friendly, they love every animal that walks through the door like it's their own. My dog loves everyone there and isn't even nervous when she goes to the vet, because of how great everyone there is with the animals. If you want an amazing vet that doesn't charge you insane prices and will do everything to make sure your pet is healthy and happy, I completely recommend Kalihi pet clinic.

Busy vet clinic, but has a long standing positive history with previous Veterinarian. Current Veterinarian is nice and patient with all his patients and humans. The staff are nice, but when it gets busy just remember they are doing their best to make sure everyone gets seen.

By far my favorite pet clinic ever!! I'll be sad to move off island in a few years just because I won't be able to go here! Dr. Obara and his staff are so helpful and knowledgeable and kind. They were very caring with my rat when she needed to be put to sleep. My other rat had a tumor removed here and tore out her stitches at least 4 times. They redid the stitches for free every time. On top of all this they're the cheapest clinic I've been too- a bottle of antibiotics cost me 3 bucks here. A different clinic on the island charged me 50 for the same exact thing.

Dr Obarra and his staff are fabulous. Dr Obarra is a doll and so smart and very calm (which is wonderfully calming). Great doctor, staff, and prices. Walk in only for now...but I think they're gonna start taking appointments soon. Get there early when they open...or expect to wait a while. Parking is very limited...but everything else makes the hassle worth it. Prices are the best we've found anywhere.

Waited less than 30 minutes with no appontment. Doctor was very good and prescription and medical advice ia working. My dog's infected eye and stink smell are both getting better. Very noticeable improvement for my dog.

We went to kalihi pets in a state of emergency when my dog had a stroke. The staff and the doctor there were very nice and understanding of my situation. My SHAKEY tryed to hang on with some medication they gave me. I took him to see them 3 times in one week and the doctor tryed his best with the option for my dog. Allowing us to understand the prices we would have to spend only to find out what's the problem when the problem may not be able to be fixed. So my family decided to allow the doctor to help us in putting him down. The doctor the nurses and the stuff made us very comfortable setting a beautiful Tone for my husband and I to say a final goodbye. They also help us with setting up the cremation and pick up time also giving us the option to pay then or later. I love this place and would recommend it to any pets lover.

I like this place even though sometimes a long weight but they make sure they get things done my other dog goes there now gonna take my new doggie there I had her went to another doctors place there price is to ridiculous but i first heard bout Kalihi pet clinic through a friend and I used to take the dog owner pet there and they are really caring doctors always with a friendly hello. Sincere thanks to Dr. Obara and staff for the caring and sensitivity they showed us recently when we made the heart-wrenching decision to have our beloved cat, Scooter, put to eternal sleep. Dr. Obara took the time to explain things, affirm our decision, and give comfort. Everything went smoothly and more peacefully than I had imagined.
