I was actually forced to go to this hospital because the clinic by my home had no space. i called them on Saturday morning and they got us in quickly. i had to drive an hour there but they were attentive, had compassion and were very informative. my dog sadly was diagnosed with IMHA but they tried to save him as best to their ability. He passed on Easter. Thank you for calling me twice daily with updates and getting us in to visit while he was in their care. ( time wise cause we had to drive from mass to ct_). I recommend this place. Its clean and everything you need in one place. i honestly wish i lived closer to this hospital cause i would of kept them as vet on any of our future animals.

The emergency room at Pieper saved my dogs life. He was on the brink of death due to a congenital liver problem that was previously undiagnosed. The emergency room team was thorough, and I have consistent communication and feedback from both neurology and internal medicine during his hospital stay. They recommended a thorough regimen to keep him healthy and he is better than ever! Thank you! 🎉

I just have to start by saying Whitney Phipps was fantastic during the whole process. My dog broke his leg and i was referred from another hospital to go here for the surgery. Whitney was so communicative and fantastic at explaining every part of the process. I really felt like my dog was in good hands. She made me feel comfortable about an awful situation. They kept him for a few days after the surgery to monitor an infection and she sent me photos of him which was so great since i missed him like crazy. Every question i had she made sure to answer. It’s been 9 weeks since his surgery and he’s back to normal. They did a follow up appointment and agreed he was healing excellently. I only give 4 stars because I had to make multiple phone calls to the front desk who weren’t the most reliable. They were supposed to send my primary vet his medical records and i had to call them 3 times about it. Finally once my vet received the paperwork, it was not clear it was for my dog. There was no hospital or pets name included in the email.

I recommend this hospital, they took my dog in right away there was a male tech there I didn’t quite get his name but he was awesome and helped out a lot and put my dog through triage, so The Neuro can see him and evaluate him as soon as possible, they gave good care and customer service. Even though our outcome was not quite what we expected they still gave us the comfort we needed. Unfortunately we had to put our baby Boy down that was a year and a half years old name Broly. 💕 due to an aggressive cancer in his bones. We will always love you Broly

Been a customer for years, and while things changed significantly during covid, I'm glad to see things getting back to normal. Personal interactions with the vets, waiting rooms, etc. The vets have always been honest with assessments and realistic with treatment options. Prices seem fair as well. Having the option of many of their satellite offices offers great flexibility for scheduling, and I've received the same great care everywhere. I hope to not have to use their services often, but when I need them, I know am in good company.

Had my cat euthanized this evening ..had a long history of medical issues...Staff was exceptional and understanding. If your animal is not critical your visit in the ER side will be quite long because the critical ones get the attention first.. ...Mine was critical and was seen within 1/2 hour...

They were able to see my dog at 5:45am on Christmas Eve when the more local emergency hospitals could not take us..but I am so glad we ended up here. The doctor and staff were awesome and the facility is large and modern. Definitely recommended!

Unfortunately, this is not the Pieper Memorial of years past. The care for animals and compassion is just not the same. Only take your dog here in life or death emergencies. If it is an urgent care situation, go elsewhere. There are other options in the area that don't require 8 hour wait times and expensive tests for diagnosis. Also, check your billing, especially when they say they will not charge for something. I had to dispute the double charge with my cc company for it to be removed. They never called back. Disappointing.

The ER was extremely busy, and there were multiple trauma cases being dealt with while we were there, and the staff maintained their composure. Everyone was respectful, and they did their best to triage the animals as they came in. Unfortunately my dog could not be helped there and we had to go to Tufys for a specialist. Pieper did work hard to make her comfortable and stable. We appreciate the hard work and care they put into taking care of our dog

Unfortunately my cat was being euthanized and I sat in the regular waiting room crying the whole time while everyone else were talking, laughing, knowing they were going home with their pet. I had to wait like this for 45 minutes feeling miserable. They should have let me wait in another area. This was very stressful for me and I'm sure I made others uncomfortable. I tried to cry quietly but it was very hard. Everyone was nice once I was called into another room but I was angry still for making me wait in the regular waiting room.

Great facility all around! The staff from the phone, front desk, to the medical team, all take their time to make you and your pet feel welcomed and cared for. For the times we have needed a sick visit, we were able to get an appointment very promptly and the prices are very fair. The facility is clean and the veterinarians are very down to earth and really take the time to explain what the plan is. The techs are also very friendly and you can tell that they are here for you and your pet. I always feel comfortable bringing my animals here and would recommend Pieper Olson to all.

Although my pup didn't make it, I believe that they tried their best to come up with a diagnosis. And because they were not able to do so, they offered to do a post mortem free of charge. They were very good about me visiting him during his stay. I would recommend this facility to anyone who's pet needs supportive care.

I appreciate Dr Chris Ligoure and Dr katelyn Garner. My dog Bear had an emergency and we had to go to central vet in north haven and they did not fully close the large laceration; but Dr Ligoure at Pieper went out of his way to help Bear by getting Dr Garner involved to perform a great closure to the wound! We have spent $5,000 total or Bears cost so far. ( $3,300 at Central vet; $1,600 @ Pieper). This has been extremely difficult on our family but the silver lining was working with your organization. Both locations of Pieper in Middletown are stellar. Bear is an Australian Shepard and he required an unique skill set. The staff (techs etc) did not disappoint. I feel very blessed to have the care for Bear that was provided. 🙏 The compassion from the receptionist to the pharmacy…Dr Ligoure was a standout and Bryan and Kimberly at the front desk. There were more but I didn't catch their names. The techs handled Bear with confidence and compassion. Bear needed that.

I have grown up taking our family pets to Pieper-Olson and I've watched them grow. I moved away in my late 20's and returned 5 years later. Just recently we had to bring one of our pets here. My have they grown! Not all for the good however. I had to schedule for a consultation for our pet, but the pet already had a visit scheduled for something else. I asked if they could just look at the pet while we were there, but they rejected saying that a separate visit was necessary at $200. Now I see how they were able to grow so big.

We just had our first session post TTA surgery. We have a large breed dog that DOES NOT like to have her injuries manipulated. Dr Abbott and her assistant, like canine whisperers, had our dog in a therapeutic massage transe in no time at all. Throughly looking forward to working through our girl's rehabilitation with them.

This Veterinary hospital provides good care for our dog. The staff are knowledgeable. As within in the profession we have to remember there is a considerable amount of trial and error in diagnosing the problem and finding what will work. Each time one returns there is always a sizeable bill as with most vets. There is usually a wait to be seen but the plus is they are an emergency room so you can go without an appointment. One should plan for multiple hours. First you pull into the lot and dial the number posted on the signs. Each parking spot has the instructions. An attendant answers the call and does a basic screen. Then you wait for them to call you back, and they are likely to rehash the issues why you are there again. This has usually been about an hour. Then they meet you outside to bring the pet inside. This may be new since covid, anyway it's how it worked the several trips we have made. Then they do the diagnostics based on the intake interviews. This has usually taken an hour or two depending on what is being done. They will get back to you while you wait in your car. If there are updates or choices you will get a call. Once they kept our pet overnight so we went home. Other times they are ready to move to checkout. They will tell you the meds you will receive and take your payment. There is the final wait as they do the checkout and prepare your pet to go home. This is about 40 mins in our experience. They will bring the pet and instructions and meds out and meet you at the door. They have been helpful with lifting our large dog into the car. Most visits took 3 to 4 hours total counting from arrival to departure. We do notice cars from out of state so I guess they are fairly reputable. They seem to operate similarly to Tufts Medical School I Grafton MA which I have also used. Overall I have been pretty satisfied with the care. One always hopes to get the diagnosis right the first time but it's understandable there is some level.of trial and error and need for follow up. The pricesxare expensive but I think pretty much what you would expect. There is the waiting which is difficult but again this is how these things go, and it is the advantage of urgent care. So it is a great service to have and we will be likely to continue to use this location for care of our pets.

The great staff diagnosed her quickly and got her on some meds that gave me a little more time with her. I put her down today to end her increasing struggles and the decline of her life quality. My puppy had been having a problem with her ears and I had called 10 to 15 vets, all of which were saying they weren’t accepting new patients, they had a waiting list, or they had no appointments for a month or longer out. We tried Banfield in East Hartford and when we struck out there, we asked for a suggestion and they recommended we contact Pieper Memorial. I’m so incredibly happy we did. They were able to get us an appointment in less than a week so we could remedy the issue quickly. Everything from scheduling the appointment, to checking in, to evaluating her, cleaning her ears, and showing me how to administer the medication was so easy and efficient and the bill wasn’t astronomical either. Everyone was kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and efficient. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

Expensive!!!. Don't really trust them. I was told my dog needed a tooth pulled and that it would cost $3000. Dog was not showing any signs of pain and was eating normally. They never called to set it up. A year later returned for yearly visit same dog same doctor. Now tells me that my dog is in beautiful health and doing great. She did check out her teeth but never mentioned needing to have tooth pulled. Guess they were short on cash the previous year.

This facility has four locations. I mistakenly had made an appointment one of the four thinking it was for another. They did allow me to change my appointment when I showed up, took my kitty in for her first checkup and still made my radation appointment after with plenty of time to spare. In my previous review I stated if you have the unfortunate need for your pet to be a specialty patient anywhere, you are lucky if it is at Pieper Memorial. My dog is in the best hands possible with Dr. Carreras and her entire Oncology team. I have never come across such a caring, honest Vet, she is amazing. Her team are wonderful people. My dog is a nervous guy, doesn't do well at strange places, they give him so much TLC at Pieper that he comes home a happy guy. Having Dr. Carreras and her team take care of my sweet boy make a terrible fate easier to get through. They have given me a blessing of more time with him and they always have me keeping the faith. I cannot recommend them enough, no matter what service you need.

This is the place to take your cat or dog for any emergency. They will take care of your pet but get ready with your wallet. Also wants your pet is admitted you cannot call and get through. You will have to wait until they call you. So stay by the phone and make sure you have a good signal. I am very glad our cat has survived so far. There aren't very many choices for emergency hospitals around here. They will take an emergency case anytime of the day or night. We went to a regular vet first and they did some diagnostics and referred us to the hospital for immediate surgery. Thank you to dr. Michael and the staff at powder ridge veterinary hospital. I brought my dog in today for an emergency visit. They were ready for.him as soon as we got there and immediately made us feel like he was in good hands. The communication has been incredible. Even with covid restrictions preventing us from being there they made us feel like we were there and involved every step of the way. The vetenarians that we have spoken with are incredibly knowledgeable, professional and informative. They listened to our concerns, explained every single thought for what could be causing his symptoms, reviewed what testing they wanted to do and what they were looking for. It is so important to feel like you have made a good decision on who to trust your dogs care to and I couldn't be more confident in our decision to bring our boy to Piper Olson. Let me start by saying that Dr Dabrowski is a wonderful and highly skilled vet. But it was not just skill that got pieper-olson hospital to where it is. The first time I arrived there 5 or so years ago, the entire staff greeted my dog... wanting to be inroduced to my boxer Molly. On my last visit a couple of weeks ago the entire staff sat listlessly behind their plexiglass. No one responded except the woman closest to me who said she would check me in and did so by asking me one question... "pet's name?". I've gotten warmer greetings at bank of america and their medallia survey rankings are no secret. Covid policy has killed this establishment. The kindness and caring has vanished from the front offices and unless someone reading this who has the authority to act, does so, pieper-olson hospital will complete it's transition to nothing but a large soulless institution that oh, by the way, serves pets.

We love this place. We were sent here by our vet because our dog was diagnosed with lymphoma. Dr Ho the oncologist is wonderful. The prices are decent and they don't run every test in the book unnecessarily so you can focus your dollars on treatment. Pieper has been a godsend. My cat had an ultrasound at another vet and the suspected GI lymphoma. He hasn’t been eating or drinking anything, so I’ve brought him down to Pieper since the closer emergency vet to us couldn’t take him in. The entire staff at Pieper has been phenomenal. I brought him down two nights in a row and they were always prompt and kind. They helped get him other medications to take and took excellent care of him. I love Pieper Olson. I had to try other places when one rabbit vet left. I have come back to Pieper Olson. The vets and staff never try to push extra unnecessary tests and treatments to jack up bill. I will be honest... I’ve heard nothing but horror stories from friends and family who have gone to Pieper so I have always refused to go. Last night I had an emergency with my cat and given her history I knew she potentially needed a larger hospital. I called Pieper and they took her in pretty quickly. When I met Kayla the tech I (of course) had a couple of meltdowns, but she made me feel so much better about my cats care. After speaking with Dr McDaniel she was so incredible kind, compassionate and extremely thorough with getting information about my cats history. Both Kayla and Dr McDaniel made my first visit to Pieper a great experience. Thank you both for everything!

Riley had a seizure Saturday morning. He had to be rushed into Piper memorial hospital. All his blood work and x-rays came back normal. Thank you to Dr. March, Dr. Lord, and all the technicians who were competent, compassionate and extremely attentive to my little fur baby. They were there waiting for me as soon as I walk through the doors. Piper memorial is an outstanding hospital. The staff is outstanding. They're pricing is extremely reasonable. I highly recommend this facility and feel that all 3 of my dogs are well taken care of.

Very well organized parking lot curbside service for two seniors with a senior cat that was and is extremely ill. We used the ER. The options for treatment were done by phone and were well explained and gave us choices including costs as our senior income is limited. For follow up we chose to see a veterinarian there, not ER. Again, we felt very satisfied that our cat got wonderful care. The dr. took time to explain every option. As seniors, we felt safe during Covid and our cat got great ER and follow up care.

Dr. Reagan is the best veterinarian I've ever had! He is extremely knowledgeable and caring and always puts the best interests of both the pet and the pet owner first. He took care of my poodle for 19 years and very compassionately helped us put him down when it was his time. My dog had a blockage with his bladder and they performed different stages of tests, with my permission of course. Each test was based on records from another local animal emergency clinic that cared for Theo in the past. They were both thorough but Pieper was less expensive. Caring for an animal requires patience, love and unfortunately lots of cash. I don't have insurance on my little man, but my stimulus check came in handy.

We had to visit Pieper-Olson for an emergency. It was very busy and we had to wait a bit, but the doctor and staff were incredibly kind, helpful and supportive. They did not rush me in making any decisions and were very clear in explaining what was going on and what they needed to do to help my sick dog. The next morning I called just to see how he was doing, and the doctor got on the phone and assured me that my dog was still sick, but doing well. Because of their help, my dog came home the next day. He has rebounded quickly and is doing very well! I highly recommend them for any emergencies.

Post-visit pros/cons/tips if you need to go here. When our epileptic dog began experiencing cluster seizures, (during the pandemic), I was referred here for follow up by his primary veterinarian to see see Dr. Hammond (Neurology). He took the time to answer our questions, and the consult did not feel rushed. I also felt that this veterinarian really listened to our concerns and was realistic in what he recommended to us for next steps. I did not feel pressured to have expensive imaging tests done that were unlikely to yield any change in treatment. In our specific case, Dr. Hammond determined this after the neurology exam of our pet as well as considering the data presented through three years of documented seizure logs, video examples, bloodwork records, vet records, etc. He said the data did not support the likelihood of a tumor or other brain abnormality. Our primary vet called for a follow up the next day, to discuss the notes sent over from Pieper. I was pleasantly surprised that they sent them so quickly (within 24 hours) as I heard from my own vet that it could take a couple of days. Anyone considering a pet neuro consult would do well to book an appointment with Dr. Hammond, who quelled any reservations I had, while being straightforward and realistc with his prognosis, considering that the correct course of action is the one that gives the best quality of life for both the pet and its owners. To be honest, the unusually large number of negative reviews here and elsewhere terrified me and I hesitated in booking the appointment, trying to find another neurologist nearby that was taking new patients. Eventually, after a second round of cluster seizures (our primary vet was treating, but is a general vet, not a neuro expert), I called Pieper and asked to setup a consultation. The receptionist said the neurology scheduler would call me back. When my own vet called as a follow up, I told her I was waiting for them to call back. My primary vet then called back later that day to say she had called Pieper and asked for the next available non-emergency slot and also sent all my dogs records in advance of Pieper requesting these. I received a call from Pieper scheduling about an hour later for an appointment within a few days. When I inquired, I was told that I should plan that the consult would be roughly 45 minutes. We arrived for the appointment a few minutes early and I'm glad I did, because the parking place is huge with lot sections. We parked near the main entrance (also labeled ER) and called. The phone rang to an automated system where I selected the 'we are in the parking lot checking in for our scheduled specialty care visit' option. It then transferred to a line that literally rang nonstop for 8 minutes. Not ideal, but not really that different than listening to hold music. Anyway, the reception finally picked up and was polite. She confirmed we were parked in the right area and which entrance to enter when called to bring him in. She said to expect a phone call when they were ready for him. After about 15 minutes went by, they called to say bring him in. I spoke to the vet tech, who asked a few questions and then handed him the leash (due to COVID-19 pandemic, owners cannot accompany pets). After a reasonable time, the Dr. called us to discuss. Based on all the negative reviews, we planned ahead and took the day off from work. End to end, including check-in wait and the separate post-visit call with reception to checkout/pay, it did take longer than 1 hour window I figured, based on the info at the time of scheduling. I don't know if we got lucky, if our primary vet calling contributed to our overall positive experience, or if this is the norm, because this is our first visit to this hospital. For non-emergency visits, I would recommend to allot significantly more time (e.g. if you are planning to return to work after). Delays might be due to COVID, to Dr's actually taking time to answer pet owners' concerns thoroughly without rushing, or dealing with emergency visits between the scheduled visits.

The place is wonderful! First, top notch doctors in Rob Olson, his wife and the rest of the doctors. Secondly, i don't know how they do it with so many animals in and out every day, but the office smells wonderful! And it IS clean-immaculate. The people at the front desk are amazing and they make their jobs look easy. I will not be able to get all of their names but Gabriella, Grace, kate, Linda are just a few to name. At any given time, you will find a staff member on the floor playing with a dog. I wish as a human, I would be treated as well as my dog is by human doctors!

Not only have I had experience with this animal hospital with a family members pet, but my own as well. They are caring, and treat your pet as they would their own! That's very important for a pet parent! 🐩 The primary care is great, and the appointments are scheduled quickly and they don't try to sell you things you don't need. They are priced very competitively with a wellness visit only 60$! They have an easy access building and keep animals separate, i.e. dog waiting area & cat waiting area. They also provide a leash for those who For some reason need one. I was very impressed with the overall service & facility. Everyone wss awesome and I'm glad I use them for my fur baby's health needs. 😊🐶💕👧

While the hospital staff was very busy, everyone was so kind and genuine. Anytime you need to be at a facility like this it's never easy. Someone you love & care about who can't tell you how they feel needs to be there and your wallet can also take a hit. What makes it worthwhile is the care they give to the pet as well as the owner. It was a rainy and gloomy day when I brought my little guy in for a cardiac ultrasound but the staff was full of smiles. I also had to call in a few times before going to the appointment and every phone call was pleasent and upbeat. Maybe other people wouldn't notice or even care but for me, that kind of genuine caring is rare and important...especially when it comes to my four legged little babies!!!

The Dr's having taken time to sit and speak with me about our options. I have not felt pressured to do unnecessary tests or surgeries. I feel that they are being honest and realistic about my current options. Yes, its expensive to treat an animal in an emergency much like treating a human. We have discussed end points to resuscitation and are not being forced to do anything heroic.

Highly-qualified compassionate staff. My 13 years old cat became ill quickly and I panicked. My vet in Middleton was closed and I was referred to pieper Olson emergency service. Wait time was minimal and the staff was thoughtful but very skilled with Wendy. The doctor discussed multiple options depending on my and thoroughly explained diagnostic and treatment options. Wendy is now fine. I recommend this facility with no reservations. They have an emergency hospital and routine care hospital which is separate from each other. We've taken my large dog there many, many, MANY times, and they've always done a superb job. Our dog (Frankie) had torn both ACLs, and it was in their best interest to find the easiest, most comfortable solution. The staff are very friendly, compassionate, and caring. We ended up having to give Frankie two separate surgeries, and when he was in between them he was simply overflowing with expensive pain medications. They did an amazing job with the first surgery, and after seeing how he did with it, they suggested a different, less invasive surgery. We immediately accepted, and they got straight to work. Frankie has recovered beautifully, and I have to say, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dogs. They did a great job on his surgeries, and are always willing to help, keeping in mind the dog's best being. They are quite expensive, but it is definitely worth it!

I cant saw enough good things about Pieper Memorial. This weekend we took our dog there as an Emergency who was very sick. He ended up having a tumor on his spleen and it burst resulting in blood building in his belly and needed emergency surgery. Dr. McKay called us after surgery and every day until his release. She sat with me when he was released and explained the medication and after care. They are an excellent facilty and I wont go anywhere else. Our dog hates people and usually needs to be muzzled. He wasnt muzzled the entire time he was there and let the Vet Techs feed him out of their hands, as well as Dr. McKay examine him. This blows me away that he trusted all of them that much.

Unfortunately we didn't get the results we were hoping for but the team there on new years eve night was incredible. Doctor was very thorough and educated. Our baby had unforseen complications but they did everything possible to make sure we had one last great run (no pun intended) and got to take our little girl home to make her as comfortable as possible til it's unfortunately time to take her back for our last goodbyes. Today I had to put my beloved kitty to sleep. I brought her to Pieper-Olson, and I'm very glad I did. They made a very difficult situation much easier to deal with. Everyone from the receptionists to the vet was caring and compassionate. Amy the tech put in the IV catheter, and kept my cat calm, wrapping her in a blanket for me to hold. Dr. Church let me hold my kitty while she administered the injection, which was very helpful to me. My kitty passed peacefully in my arms, and what could have been a very traumatic experience for both my cat and I was not.

Piper Olsen vet is the only vet that I use. Dr Olsen and his staff are very polite and caring. I had to put my 11 year old cat down in January. Of this year. It was the hardest thing I had to ever do. Dr Olsen had been treating my cat for a disease that my cat had gotten that we were hoping would of changed. everytime I called to give a up date or needed to bring my cat in Dr Olsen was aways there even when he had other appts. On the day that my cat got worse Dr Olsen told me to bring him to the vet and he contact one of the other Dr on that day and told him I was bringing him in. Dr Olsen wasn't in the office that day he was working at another office. Dr Olsen kept in touch with me and the other Dr. I asked Dr Olsen if he would met me and my husband that night at Piper Olsen In Middletown. Dr Olsen even rearranged his staff meeting that night because I asked him to be there with us when we made that hard decision to let out cat go to the rainbow bridge. You don't get service like this or anyone that feels what you feel. Dr Olsen and his staff went way beyond any service that I was expecting to get. So if anyone wants to have a vet that is understanding compassionate and that cares about you and you pets and that will help you and your pet than I will.always recommend Piper Olsen in Middletown. I want to thank Dr Olsen for everything thing he had done for me and my pets and I want to let him and staff know how much I appreciate them. Thank You.

Dr. Pieper was my family’s vet in the 60s so I have been taking my pets (I have had both dogs and cats) here for many years, first in Portland, then Middletown, and now in Essex. They have always been wonderful. My cats currently see Dr. Brienza in Essex. She is caring and knowledgeable. The vet techs and staff are always friendly, compassionate and handle my precious cats with care. Dr. Brienza has even had to euthanize one of my old kitties and she and the staff were very kind. My family has moved in and out of the area a few times, so we have used other veterinary practices, but we always return to Pieper-Olson when we can.

It's important to keep in mind the high care standards that are needed especially in all the newest techniques/medicine for our fur children. I am so glad it's Pieper-Olson . Our dachshund had needed his second immediate emergency back surgery,( the first was not here but at a hospital in CT that has gone down hill in all aspects of care, personnel, and should not hold itself out as an emergency vet hospital and actually sent us away with a just wait and see plan- in my mind negligent and abusive), so it was this second event that we needed to seek out immediate care and have the surgery right away. This is the point, there was no hesitation with this outstanding Vet Hospital on what was needed and it was emergency care that was provided and surgery was performed as quickly as possible. The doctors we had are excellent esp. Dr. Cohen, and Dr. Hammond and neurology doctors. The technician staff are excellent in before and post op care and comfort and show devotion and love for your fur children - it's here. From the first step in the door until leaving, we were comforted and cared for with the utmost professional manner. I would want this care for myself. A 5 stars Awesome for fantastic care and this should be viewed as a model hospital. IF there is something that wasn't right, I would have said it here, for five days we had the best care you could imagine. and even afterwards or anytime you could call for assistance with friendly, loving staff . OK here is the deal my dog was admitted here after having a 45 minute seizure when she got there she did not even register on the glycaemic index After 2 days of being there my girlfriend called me and told me to call Pieper and have them test for Addison's disease. I call the receptionist at 10:00 p.m. asked her to leave a note for the doctor reading "Addison's??" The very next morning I get the call...duh duh duh "we are going to do a cortisol test and check for Addison's.🤔What I will say is this when I brought it up to them that my friend had to give them the diagnosis they did in fact give me back a lil of the $2500.00 they charged me not a lot but enough to at least admit they were wrong and someone any one at that hospital should have thought to at least check for it if for no other reason but to write it off. So because of that I'm good with them. I do believe that when we "humans" go to the ER we are sent a bill there's no reason why that shouldn't happen when our pets have to be rushed in to the ER as well. All in all it was a good experience with Pieper

Had an emergency yesterday with our new baby. We are in the wallingford area so unfortunately we went to the closest place which happens to be Central Hospital in North Haven. We will never go to this emergency service facility again. I took my baby out of there before they could either do more damage or kill him , and brought him to Pieper Olsen in Middletown. There, the Er Dr James Tipton was wonderful. He was calming, knowledgeable and very compassionate towards the awful experience we had been in all day. He made us feel like he truly cared about our baby and it was so refreshing to know that there are still vets out there that are in it for the animal care and not the money like Central Hospital in North Haven...Unfortunately he is an intern but I’m hoping that Pieper Olsen offers him a permanent position. It would be very wise of them to do so. We have 4 babies and I would leave my vet and bring them all to Pieper ( even though it’s out of the way)if he was there. Fantastic guy!!!!!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Albin when I was trying to find a suitable exotic vet to neuter my guinea pig. It was over a two over drive from Massachusetts but entirely worth it. When I first arrived it was super busy and I was still greeted and brought back to check in. All the staff was exceptionally nice, especially the "guinea pig whisperer". I could not be more impressed with Dr. Albin though, from the moment he first walked in the door I had a good feeling about him. He was extremely patient and walked me through the whole procedure allowing time for all my questions. As for the neuter it went wonderfully, I was sent home with antibiotics (didn't get pain meds but we never needed them). When I did have a concern over the incision they managed to squeeze me in. I even made a mistake of when I would arrive and when I called to tell them I would be late, they still found of way for me to get seen. Thankfully, nothing was wrong and I was just being worried but I am still very appreciative of their and Dr. Albins flexibility. For anyone looking for an exotic vet I highly recommend Pieper-Olson.

Pretty disappointed. Came in for emergency care and received a quite high estimate for overnight observation and potential surgery. Was charged up front for the high side if the overnight estimate, and ended up being charged twice. Error was corrected but frustrating. After the quite expensive overnight we opted to take our dog to our regular vet when they reopened Monday who performed the surgery needed for half of what Pieper estimated, with no demand of payment up front.

Their disorganization is a problem. Constant mailings for vaccinations that were already done. Missing records, multiple times. I waited over a month for a "fast tracked" medication and consult with a specialist that they lost or forgot about. Poor communication between the staff and vets. One on one, they are very caring and informative but I expect and need more than that when dealing with the health of my animal friends.

I have bringing my dogs to Pieper-Olson Veterinary Hospital for almost 40 years. For the past 20 plus years I have been focusing Dr. Zeveney as my dogs "personal vet". She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, caring and has a fantastic "bedside manner" that is comforting to me and of course the patient. Once she starts working on my dog's problem she gives 110%. She doesen't just throw expensive medicines and procedures to resolve the problem ... she analyzes the problem and uses her years of experience to conservatively develop a plan to treat the problem .... never compromising my dogs health. Tasha, Barney and Chester may have crossed over the bridge but Louie is the next generation to follow Dr. Z!!!!!! Dr. Zeveney is a outstanding member to the Piper-Olson family!

My cat and best friend Max started limping around on 3 legs and I thought he had pulled a muscle. It didn't get better after a couple days, but got worse. I finally called the Marlborough location and they got me in immediately. The Doctor diagnosed an abscess, gave him a shot, combined the visit with his yearly which was coming up[Saved me money] and sent me home saying the medication should work very quickly and if it didn't to call. I called the next day and asked the receptionist to thank the Doctor for giving me back my healthy friend.

My biggest gripe however is when you google search the vet they only have the emergency number online. When you call it they talk to you like you're stupid for calling that number instead of the vet number...There is no other number listed online...sorry...They need to have both the vet number and the hospital number listed separately. By the tone of the persons voice that answers the phone, I am definitely not the first person to do this

I rate them a 5 star for taking such good care of my 14 yr old yellow husky lab mix name Bojangles that was backed into and had a broken Tibeal. It happened on a weekend and they were able to take him right away. We drove 1 1/2 hrs and it was worth it.
