We called at 7:45am because my rabbit was having a seizure-like activity. Dr. Ford was able to see Lola at 8:30am. Lola was not a current patient at Oaks and I had already called 2 emergency vet clinics and 1 other vet clinic and the other clinics unfortunately did not have veterinarians that had experience with rabbits. Needless to say I was so grateful they were able to see Lola. She is now at home resting. We would have spent thousands on our rabbit but our visit cost us less than $100. Totally worth it. Thank you for providing exotic animal care to the Des Moines area. It means the world to me and my husband. Photos of Lola below because she's my world.

They are the best the staff always takes time to answer your questions and to address your concerns . The doctors and the staff are really nice and genuine people whom you can tell really love animals unlike some other vet clinics where the almighty dollar is more important than the care your pet receives. Also there prices are affordable. They are honest and are always suggesting things to do to help you out not to cost you extra money. They are simply wonderful!!!

Friendly staff. Masks required for humans. Our two dogs were calm and compliant throughout, an uncommon occurance, due to Dr. Minor and assistant being relaxed, reassuring, and professional in manner. Took my bearded dragon in this morning . Doctor was kind enough to get her in and keep her to observe her . He provided her with best care. We take 3 dogs here and have had so many great experiences. Our tiny dog almost died when we first adopted her and oaks kept her over night giving her constant care. They have fixed a broken leg perfectly and done great on all of the spay/neuters. They dont sugar coat and are not about fancy over priced things. This is a place to go to get down to the point of necessary care without any frills. We never have to worry about prices when taking our dogs here which makes us love this place even more.

Staff was friendly and Dr. Wayne impressed me with his professional and also his down to earth knowledge. He thoroughly examined my elderly English French bulldog mix and put my mind at ease about her health. He understood that while I love my furbaby, I don't have the means to spend thousands of dollars on her as I did when she was young with years of life ahead of her and my income allowed it. He was sensitive to this issue and did not make me feel like I was denying her in any way. I was very comfortable with the plan of treatment he proposed. I cannot be any happier that my friend recommended Oaks Veterinary Clinic to me. I have found Baby's vet. My friend's pets see Dr. Harman and she thinks the world of him, as well.

I don't know what I would do without Oaks veterinarian hospital! My family has 2 rabbits and a Chinese water dragon, and there is no other clinic in town willing to care for our babies. Not only do they care for them, but they are extremely knowledgeable and prepared for anythjng! And anytime we need them, they seem to go out of their way to save the day! We ❤ you guys! Dr. Harmon sees my dog and Dr. Minor treats my cat. I can not even put into words how kind and amazing both vets have been to me and my fur babies. My cat has kidney disease and Dr. Minor has been amazing about getting her in when I am worried and has made me feel like her care is important to him. He walks me through all the steps in caring for her properly so I can make sure she is comfortable and happy. I don't know what I would do without Dr. Minor. Also on a side note their prices are so reasonable I can take care of her needs with out having to worry about the price tag. I tell everyone about Oaks because I honestly think there is no better place to take your pets.

Super awesome staff and great service although I will say that there was one male staff number that had very bad attitude and was very harsh towards me . He also rolled his eyes at me and just wasn’t very nice over the phone when I ask questions. but he was the only issue I had otherwise it’s a great veterinary clinic especially if you have exotic pets!!

Oaks has been amazing with our furchildren. They are kind, caring, and willing to work with you, if needed. They did an emergency surgery on our dog for less than half the price the emergency vet quoted us. Dr. Harmon is on site and our dog loves him! Recently, we lost one of our cats and Oaks made it so easy to have her cremated through a private service. They even did a paw print for my daughter at the vet before they sent her off. They are the best!

Our dog has been going to Dr. Minor for quite some time. He absolutely loves visiting Dr. Minor. He makes him feel comfortable and he is super helpful when we have questions. Even though the clinic is in a residential area, it is easy to find. Parking is ample, with some shaded spaces. With Covid-19, we stay in the car while somebody will come out, get an update on your pet, send take them in. This dr is the only Vet that knows a lot about sugar gliders and he is thorough in his exam. The Vet came out to my car personally to update me on Penelope's (my sugar glider) condition. Described in detail the issue and seemed to care. The medicine is very fairly priced as is the office visit. I trust them to teache care of my Penelope and Squirrel.

A few weeks ago, we took our dog to the emergency vet for an eye ulcer late at night. We did the followup check at Oaks. Huge thank you to the office manager who worked around our busy schedule to have our dog seen. Doug, our dog, was seen by Dr Minor, who was new to us. What struck me most about Dr Minor was his dedication. He really took the time explaining my dog’s condition and the medications Doug was taking. It was above and beyond what we experienced at the emergency vet. If your pet can become a patient here, you’re lucky.

I've been coming to see the people at Oaks for something like 25 years because I trust them. They are also very reasonably priced. bUT They're human and some times have missed something. But they are so much smarter than I am and really good with my animals or I'd be gone! And they usually can get me in the same day. I've never had to go to another vet until 6 months ago. I've been coming to see Dr. Harmon for 25 years. At 7:30 am, when I had a problem with my ARL kitten that I felt needed attention, the receptionist women told me, my vet was extremely busy and were perturbed that I was trying to get an appointment. Each time I called for my kitten, they got ruder and ruder! Finally, I asked as politely as I could, when there might be an opening and the receptionist lost it! I managed to get out of her that it would be out a week. Fine. I needed to go to another vet before then. Rude! Then one of them called me a few minutes before 6 PM. I told her that I that was no way to treat me as a customer. and that I'd already made an appointment with another; I said I'd be in touch and this smart mouth said "just try it!" (They would acknowledge my problem could be a vaccine reaction at a different site: fine, but they we rude! It cost me $75 and the thing went away 48 hours after the vaccine was given!) I probably will go back and see what attitude greets me at the door (as I believe it has in the past)! They may be too busy for my business; I may have to just grab my pet's file jacket and move on. Best vets in Des Moines. I recently had to visit a vet in Omaha while visiting my parents. When we went have her stitches removed at Oaks the difference in the way my nervous dog was treated really stood out to me. When Zoey resisted they stopped and reassured her and calmed her down before continuing instead of just scooping her up and taking her away from me. I almost cried at how great the care is at Oaks.

I found a cat last year and took her to Dr. Harmon when she got fleas and worms. They gave her shots and fixed her right up for a very cheap price. They're usually pretty booked, but when I was worried about a breathing peculiarity, they had me come in after hours that same day and took care of her. I wont go anywhere else!!

I've come into their clinic crying with a hamster with a broken leg, a new rescue dog who was very sick with heartworm, and my other dog who had just been hit by a car outside of their business hours.
